The place is awesome. Super cool and very strange but in a cool way. There was a disco ball and the white seats remind me of Miami or something. The guy serving us was super cool and way funny. The pimp Shrimp roll was awesome :)

TRUST ME PEOPLE DO NOT BOTHER TO GO HERE. I WARN YOU! ! NOT TO WASTE YOUR TIME AND PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. TRUST YOUR INSTICS ON THIS ONE . READ REVIEWS FIRST...I give it one star because the lady who runs it has a nice character and I had come here the night before for a late night drink and sushi roll which was decent .. Her son who is her waiter on the other hand is worthless ignorant person who will ignore and give you horrible terrible service and cater to the.person who he thinks will give him a better tip . ( and if you're a family .. .go somewhere else gurantee you'll have a better time!) I stayed at the Wakkiki Resort Hotel which has amazing service but unfortunately I walked into this place looking for a bite after a long fun family day. THE ENTRANCE IS LOCATED FAR AWAY IN HIDDEN CORNER IN THE DOWNSTAIRS LOBBY OF HOTEL..From the beginning my waiter gave us this weird look as to why we were there as a family. I asked for a high chair and he said we dont have any because we don't usually get families. We were 2 adults two 5 year old kids and an 8 month old baby.. I said no worries I'll take a booth and ended up being placed towards far back .. the rest of the place was empty except for this private Office Type Room they consider vip which they rent for 60 dollars more if you have a group. The waiter was so busy taking care of this dinner party in their so called vip room that he completely ignored us even after we gave him a where's our food? look and after 40 minutes I said I was leaving and I expressed my being upset and said I'm out and that was not fair to us. No simple sorry or any form of simpathy except pay for the drinks which we still had sitting around FULL waiting for our dinner. (We ordered our meal along with drinks as we sat down because the menu was outside in lobby and we already knew what we wanted) ... the mistake was .....I'm sorry I don't believe I should pay for those drinks especially after 40 minute wait a hungry family and still nothing......Wow! that was the wrong thing to say because her son now all of a sudden cared and got all upset loudmouth and "threatened me"..yes .. you read correct "threatened to call police" over 4 lousy drinks.. 2 being sodas... I was told rudely you can leave but you have to pay for drinks. I was more disgusted in the form how he said it as if we were that disposable...and didn't even have a care and he was more upset because of the 4 lousy drinks. I imagine wakkiki rent is high but come on ...seriously??? It was so bad that poor mom manager owner who runs place had to get in front of him because he was so upset and she thought he was going to fight me . MY 2 FIVE YEAR OLD DAUGHTERS STARTED CRYING AFTER HIS THREATS .. I just paid her the 20 dollars and left. Never had a bad experience like this and unfortunately it had to be here. THE Wakkiki Resort Hotel HAS NO AFFILIATION WITH THIS RESTAURANT come to find out even though it's on property .. AGAIN SAVE YOUR TIME EVEN IF YOU ARE TIRED AND DON'T WANT TO GO ANYWHERE LIKE US AND EAT ON PROPERTY. JUST ORDER ORDER PIZZA YOU WILL BE MUCH HAPPIER. I PROMISE. I really should have trusted my instinct on the reviews I read about the bad service but my fault I still gave them a chance . !!!!!! AND HERE IS THE BETTER PART OF IT. THIS GUY'S FRIENDS AND HIMSELF SENT ME REVIEWS AND COMPLIMENTS HOW I WAS AT FAULT. YES I TOLD HIM TO STUFF IT AFTER HE INSULTED ME AS HE ASKED HIS MOM TO MAKE SURE MY HUNDRED DOLLARS WAS REAL. LOL. AND NOT EVEN A SORRY. I HOPE YOUR 2 DRINKS AND 2 KIDS SODAS..ARE WELL WORTH THE BAD REVIEW. PEOPLE GROW UP DON'T SEND YOUR BUDDIES TO HELP SAVE YOUR PLACE .. I'M SORRY . BUT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN EASIER TOO SAY A SIMPLE SORRY FOR A 40 MINUTE DELAY AND INSTEAD YOU CHOSE TO BE UPSET ABOUT ME WANTING TO LEAVE ...AND LEAVE YOUR DRINKS FULL BEHIND. MAYBE YOU WERE ALL STILL TOO BUSY ARGUING WHITIN YOUR COOKS AND YOURSELVES ABOUT YOUR SO CALLED DINNER PARTY. HOPE YOU HAVE HAVE A PIC OF THAT AND MY FULL WASTED DRINKS..... OVER DRINKS.!!! WOW. 20 BUCKS WELL WORTH IT??? I'M HERE A WEEK SO I CAN EASILY GIVE YOU THE 20. GOD BLESS YOU ALL HOPE YOU DO PEOPLE BETTER THAN ME..

For the second time in a row I have experienced wonderful service, great food and great prices at Kampai. I really have developed a love for Kampai. The food has been cooked to order and very accommodating to my dietary needs. There is organic sake available and custom food orders. I sit at the bar because if I sing karaoke I will clear the bar. I appreciate the hospitality I recieve here. Consistently amazing food and comforting atmosphere no matter how many people are in the restaurant. As a return customer I can speak from experience. Although parking can be a hassle, most of us know this when coming to Waiks to dine or enjoy an evening out. Jennine remembers me, she knows what I eat and do not eat and I can rely on her to serve me food that I know will fit my very picky taste. Noodles, veggie hand rolls and definitely a large bar selection. As I said I do not sing karaoke. If I did then no one would come back to Kampai lol so I don't have experience in the karaoke rooms. All I can say is that the food, drinks and service I have consistently received at Kampai has been the reason I come back down from the hills of Makakilo and fight parking for. If you enjoy a cozy and accommodating environment then cruise by Kampai in the Waikiki Gateway Hotel. Mahalo for a wonderful pau hana!!!
(5)Nate S.
The sushi is great. The service is slow. Small little gem hidden inside a hotel. Looks like a 70s lounge. They apparently have karaoke. We ordered the caterpillar roll, god of fire roll, and the sakura roll. Each of them had unique taste and great presentation. The god of fire was very spicy with the added jalepeno. Great roll. Overall we enjoyed this place. Service was friendly but slow.

This place is GREAT !!! Great food, Great service, Great prices. We truly had a Great time.

Located inside of a mid-range hotel, Midori was not easy to find. Thank goodness for GPS...unless you're surrounded by tall buildings and are trying to use GPS in the midst of solar flares. The old-fashion walking around finally did the trick. When we walked in, I was a little surprised by the decor. It's a bit on the cheesy side. I agree with the other reviewer about the 80's karaoke bar feel. We ordered the dragon roll, rainbow roll and the terikyaki chicken bowl. Sushi was okay, but the chicken bowl really stood out. It was very flavorful without being too salty. Food-wise, I'd give the restaurant a 3. However, the owner is so super friendly and accommodating that I have to give her an extra star. You really do feel welcome in the restaurant.
(4)Heather M.
For someone who doesn't like sushi but have friends that do, I'm thankful there were a few dishes for us "outsiders". I was pleased with the chicken teriyaki. Pricey, but tasty. LOCATION: This is inside of a hotel. If you're following Google Maps, just go into the hotel and to the right of the reception area.

(This review is a response to a customer) (actual advice...Food is fresh and great but if the place is busy.. expect the food to come out a bit/extremely later. Im also a customer here and i do pay money to eat) This is a response to Marcos L. You told me that i had to pay your bill since you apparently you and your family has been waiting for 40 minutes. Its funny to tell a waiter to pay your bill. First time i ever heard of that. I should have gladly paid your drinks and that would be part of my contribution to charity. You refused to pay your bill and i warned you that i will call the cops. I should've just let your family go and then talk to management. How i see it, your basically trying to steal from a small restaurant. I served your drinks right away and i seated you far away from the party due to their loudness. How inconsiderate of me not to put you in front of a noisy party with your children. I'm sorry i couldn't offer you complementary bread ( i assume that's what you want) since it was a Japanese restaurant. I told you that we had a back order since we had a party that ordered a lot of food and you understood what i said. I guess that you don't understand the concept of first come, first serve (food). I understand your upset for waiting and taking out your frustration on me due to being only male there that DOESN'T COOK food. I wish I could serve you like ROYALTY. I could knit pick every part of your review all the way down to the spelling errors but i wont really do that. I want other potential customers to hear my side of the story. This business has been going on for more than 4 years and going. I recall taking a picture of you before you were trying to leave the restaurant and you had the audacity to stick a middle finger in front of me with your children present. I probably have that recorded on my phone. If i recall correctly, you're were hinting/implying that you would hurt me and i believe at that point cops would seem necessary. Taking business law, i assume that you were trying to get something by complaining to the front desk and in your shock, we are not part of the hotel. I have other witnesses (customers) that saw the way you were acting in the restaurant and the way you spoke to me. They were sitting on the counter but in your rage probably didn't see them. I believe some of them defended me and messaged you already about your conduct in a restaurant and how you act in front of a young adult (me). I hope you have a pleasant stay in Hawaii like i said before you left and enjoy that slice of pizza. Mahalo Nui
(5)Jason P.
This is a wonderful family owned sushi restaurant. They are also fish brokers and have the freshest fish we have ever eaten. The woman who owns the place is delightful and visited with us and gave us Japanese candy and cookies. She is soooo sweet! The Decor is 70's/80's retro and is very cool. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates really good Sushi! :)
(5)Joleen V.
The owner I call her (Aunty) she's a super awesome nice person. Her place is kinda like a hole in the wall place, small and cozy. Good place to hang if you just got off from work. The food's great and the price is reasonable.
(5)Tiara G.
This place is called Kampai Sushi Bistro Lounge. This place is really cool inside. There are a variety of seating arrangements including large private rooms. They have a full bar. Fresh fish and great service.
(4)Heather N.
We came out to Hawaii for a family vacation. My daughter and I were craving sushi. After looking and walking for about an hour we had to call because we could not find this sushi restaurant. The name outside is completely different from what is listed on yelp. We came in and were the only customer inside. Kinda weird i thought as its a Friday night. That wasnt a good sign already. After about 30 mins which is a long time considering the fact that we were the only customer there the sushi came out. It was the worst I mean worst sushi I have ever had. It was so bad I told my daughter who was starving to leave it because I didnt want to get food poisoning during our vacation. Cant say I'll be back here the next time we visit the island.

Accidentally found this bar located in a small hotel in waikiki. Had to say....What a surprise! Food was good, drink was great, and the 2 mama san were super duper nice!!!! We'll definitely be back for the sushi/sashimi and their special rasberry&vinegar soju cocktails!!! :)
(4)Ron D.
Their specialty rolls are excellent and the service is even better. Located in the Waikiki Resort Hotel, it wasn't easy to find from the street.
(5)Edward B.
I would rate the food a C+/B-. The sushi chef was a little slow even though the restaurant was empty, but the waiter made up for it. She was very friendly and a real pleasant person. Food prices were decent too.
(3)Ryan M.
I arrived in Waikiki and wanted to find a spot close to my hotel, yet not priced to for tourists only. Through some investigation online I found Midori, now known as Kampai located in the Waikiki Resort. The service quality is excellent, the pricing is a good deal, the food is REALLY fresh and their Happy Hour is pretty good too! Try out Kampai and especially the Ahi Poke with the spicy pickled peppers! Going back tonight for my 3rd time in a row! SUSHI ADDICTION is heavy is Hawaii!
(5)Ariel Z.
This would normally be a 4/5, but I think the colored lighting and decor is rather tacky. The waitress (and I think owner) was super attentive. And the sushi itself was much better than the more upscale places I tried on the island. Although it may be difficult to find (it took us an extra 10 minutes before we realized it was inside a hotel), a must if you need to satisfy a sushi craving.
(2)Mark M.
Not bad for a small place, I like the decor, stuff very friendly.. The only bad thing is the small flies, they keep flying on my sushi and I had to keep my eye on them..
(3)Vincent L.
Having read the good reviews, I was excited about getting some good quality sushi at a price not typically found in tourist-priced Waikiki. What a disappointment. The nigiri sushi was not fresh so basically it all tasted the same - kind of mushy and bland. The rice was too vinegary. Add to that lukewarm beer and basically no sake to speak of (ok there were 2 subpar ones to choose from). I tasted the "best" one and it was lousy. Finally, there were gnats flying around my food and eventually landing. $60 out the door for me incl 1 lge warm-ish Kirin beer. The best thing this place has to offer is a very attentive (although I was literally the only person there on a Tues eve) and wonderful bartender/server. She was delightful.
(1)Wen S.
Food is very good for sure. I would give this place a 4-star if the service was faster--the food takes a long time to come out, even on an empty Saturday night. The Asian music videos are good destructions while waiting. The lady server is really sweet. Kinda pricey. No ginger. One time deal.
(3)L F.
Amazing SUSHI menu and CUSTOMER SERVICE. Came here after reading yelp reviews, and being in HI decided to try it out. It is hard to find as it is located in the lobby of a hotel. We had 4 sex on the beach drinks, 2 shots of patron, 5 sushi rolls and our total including tip was under$100. I definitely will return.
(4)Dane B.
Great sushi place! The salmon was so good. The woman waiting on us was awesome as well. After we finished our sushi, she brought us some soup she had made. It was super spicy and delicious. They obviously know how to make their customers feel welcome. Would definitely come again.
(4)Amy M.
The owner was extremely nice . We ordered the ahi tuna tartar, three rolls, an order of hamachi and one small sake and received happy hour pricing after happy hour. Paid under $60 with a 20% tip. Definitely a hole in the wall and dead for a Monday but we did go early. Worth the visit!
(4)Crystal K.
This little sushi joint is a gem once you find it! It's like stepping into a different world...of neon lights, asian art, and better yet, asian soap operas! The waitress we had was absolutely adorable, like a little pin-up girl, and she was so sweet. Her service was excellent as she explained sushi rolls and brought us the food and drinks we ordered, as well as some complimentary edamame. I was sad to island-hop because I really wanted some more of this great place!
(5)Sherman L.
What the hell, this is just a kareok bar tht just happens to serve food as an after thought. The service was unprofessional the decor was tacky what a disappointment. First bad yelp suggestion

On another late night quest for sushi I consulted my Yelp phone app and stumbled upon Midori. Truthfully we tried to go to Morio's first but they were packed as usual. We arrived at Midori which had a green theme going for it (of course), they had a small karaoke room and some random music videos playing when we walked in. I admit the music videos kept us entertained while waiting for a food, 3 guys and 1 girl with young korean girls singing on the television k-pop songs yeah we had enough entertainment for a while. The menu was fairly large, they have a sushi menu and then a side menu where you can get items like carpaccio, chirashi, chicken, etc. We had the dynamite roll, godzilla roll, this rainbow carpaccio, negiri of smoked salmon, a spicy tuna roll and a hamatchi taco. Nothing was bad but didn't really leave satisfied with any dish. The carpaccio had potential but needed more fish, sauce was ok, the rolls were just ok too. Hamatchi taco was an interesting concept that maybe could catch on with some tweaking. Smoked salmon was really weird flavor was smokey but the color was odd like a super pale whitish orange rather than a more vibrant color most smoked salmon filets seem to have. Service was alright, the lady who served us (I'm assuming one of the owners) was very very friendly and that alone makes me want to come back and give this place one more chance, as far as other little things though such as filling water it was a miss. We had empty glasses for a while and the place wasn't anywhere near full so it's not like they were too busy to refill I think they just didn't notice until later. Overall I think for sushi I'm starting to become picky and while this place was ok, I think there are much better options to try.

We went here for our last dinner out during our stay on Oahu based on local recommendations. At first it's a little hard to find since its down a side street and INSIDE the hotel lobby of the Waikiki Resort Hotel. Once you find it, though, you'll realize it's a gem and that it's worth a repeat visit. We had the Chirashi, seaweed salads, and lots of sushi and seafood appetizers for our two children, 5 & 6. It's a small restaurant, so has limited staff, but between the owner and the waiter, we were well taken care of and there was always something on the table to make sure our hungry boys weren't left waiting long between courses. Everyone was very friendly and pleasant. All of the fish was top-notch -- beautifully presented, fresh, and delicious, and at a better price than what more expensive, tourist-catering restaurants offer. Next time we're here, we'll visit Midori again.

What a curio. I've lived around here for 10 years, been in Hotel, never noticed it, although I was aware of the car-park/back-door. Even used to hang nearby @Odorikio when it HAD a sushi bar. Anyway. Capsule review: it says "Cocktails and Sushi bar" on sign; it's more like "Cocktails, Bar, some Japanese food, maybe." But that's not a BAD thing! The general reviews here are 'accurate', although I'd up the Kitsch quotient and downplay the Sushi: it really isn't "great"; any sushi freaks will go nuts, but if you want some weird stuff with Frou-Frou cocktails this could be the place! (Live abalone, Live Sea cucumber "you want some?", "yes", "OK I have to kill it..." (holding up murky plastic bag!)) Mind you they did have the freshest Uni I have tasted in a while! (One key: despite what they have/price on the menu/s, and if you're bent-out-of-shape by surprise check$; check! - my sashimi Uni, a very good portion, was $20, not the $15 printed.) Ah yes. The Menu! Well, actually, the Menu/s. It's like one of those Gordon Ramsey "Kitchen Nightmares" episodes where he goes berserk over the 'size' of the offerings! They seem to have almost a World-view: Tapas (really more like classic Izakaya appetizers), Sushi Tacos. Yes!, Okonomiyaki, Udon, Pasta (yes, distinct from Noodles), Giant salads, and loads of "Speciality Rolls" and usual Nigiri and Sashimi. Pretty extensive. How'd the chefs do all this?! Well. There ARE no chefs. Really!? As someone noted below, I walked in on Monday ('bout 7): Noone there. Out of the 'kitchen' (more later) appeared "Mr & Mrs". I don't know whether this is "Mama San" noted, but she was amicable. She was also basically the Chef. Not sure what 'He' did, apart from continuously rummaging around trying to find OJ, Sprite, Beers (yes, from those coolers you noticed on entering), Pineapple, etc. Even when someone came in and MamaSan was cutting something up he deferred to her by saying "someone is here" (classic Asian arms-folded, male: love it!) The place IS green, naugahyde (when d'ya hear that?), karaoke. If you're fazed out by now don't continue reading. Midori is most obviously an Izakaya (the Asian salaryman bar with snacks) masquerading as "Sushi bar"; I'm sure the Hotel doesn't like the idea of that branding thus Americanized "Cocktails and Sushi bar". Fair enough. OK. Eating and Drinking. Drinking first. Separate 'menu', and there's even BOTTLE service listed! Ha! Don't expect 'Waitresses'! This makes sense - really - for a closet (2 room) karaoke: buy a bottle of Scotch and sing your hearts out (there was a room while I was there that simply played tunes, ordered beers and had a salad.) The selections are vague: Beer - "Local, Import". I got a Sapporo (it was a 22oz, without asking) $8; I can get that for $7 w/o happy-hour. So this isn't in realization anything 'cheaper'. (My 10oz Hot Sake was $15, which isn't a bargain either, but who's complaining.) They have a Frou-Frou Touristy Cocktail menu - sex-on-the-beach etc. - which is where, despite bar-back, the OJ, Midori (!!), Pineapple were tracked down! No tiny umbrellas or cherries, but probably a hefty amateur pour! Food: as before, how'd they cook all this stuff?! Well, TBH they don't! The kitchen/sushi cabinet (not on, cold, nothing in it) kinda looked like they were just closing. Bare. I had a distinct Uh-Oh cheap-sushi-take-out-from-gas-station TV ad moment... On being handed menu/s take 'note' of what she points out, says "very fresh", etc. ("Fried chicken is good!", more like Karaage than KFC, but...) That's probably what they have. Once they see that you might not be a sushi-virgin they bring out the "bet ya can't chew that Gaijin!" Fun really. I 'detected' this on initial "I'd like..." (even cold tofu! ;-) so I went into 'recommend'-mode. That worked out - possibly due to no earlier customers - and she gloriously showed me the fresh, flash-frozen, sealed Hamachi filet she 'found' in a Fridge. It tasted good too. NOTE: she tends to overdo the vinegar, citrus, soy dressing/s, but the fish tends to survive. There's a microwave but no apparent Toaster so your favorite Unagi is not going to totally excite. etc. Enough 'pointers'; You know who you are. Take it for what it is. It's not enough 'Susie Wong' in my mind, but it's on my take-your-friends-who-are-staying-in-some-hotel-nearby "I'll meet you for a drink at" surprise; I mean they'll get points for finding it: even with GoogleMaps. Meanwhile you can be a beer ahead and enjoy a snack.

This place is literally in our backyard and passed by it so many times but haven't checked it out yet because it didn't look open but has been open for quite some time now (this place has no windows, which makes it hard to determine whether it's open or not, unless you look for the OPEN sign on the door). You could easily miss the joint if you don't try and look for it. Midori is tucked away in the back of the Waikiki Resort Hotel and the main entrance is on Prince Edward Street behind the hotel, I think where hotel employees park. Just looking at the outside of the place looked sketchy, but once inside it was like we had time traveled to the 80's...more along the lines of 80's strip joint covered in mirrors and glass chandeliers with the sounds of soothing water fountains and fake colorful orchid plants... But we weren't there for the decor, we were there for the sushi! We've heard so many good things about this place so we decided to give it a shot! Aside from the surprising and interesting decor, this sushi bar is real small and intimate. It also has 2 private karaoke rooms for you to rent out. It has a full bar and tiny sushi bar where the sushi gets made. We were welcomed and sat and looked over their menu. They have so many variations on different sushi rolls that we had a hard time deciding because we wanted to try them all! We started off with 2 miso soups to cleanse our palates and ordered the Tiger & Godzilla rolls to share. Our sushi took awhile to make and we were hungry and sober, so would be good to order some drinks while you wait or sing karaoke! The Tiger roll I ordered consisted of salmon and unagi and it was so worth the wait! Usually for me, a roll doesn't fill me up and I end up ordering another roll or sashimi on the side, but the portions were perfect and the roll tasted delicious! Very friendly staff and awesome ambience! They also gave us a 15% off coupon for our next visit since we were neighbors. Definitely worth a try!
(4)Julianne D.
Really delicious, fresh food and sweet, attentive staff. We went three times out of our week-long stay on the island. The owner, Julianne (really!), offered her suggestions on what to eat...and she continually brought out things for us to try (it was a slow). Once I told her that I was vegetarian, she had a special veg version of the mango tango roll made for me. Best roll I've ever had (veg, mango, salsa, pickled onion, scallion, wasabi mayo). Obviously, not traditional, but hey. It was tasty! The hubs enjoyed: standard mango tango, godzilla, spicy tuna, sushi taco, and dragon roll (over 3 nights, not in one sitting...although, I'm sure he could eat all this and still be hungry). Lovely people; owner said this was her 7th restaurant. Karaoke bar atmosphere, but quiet/chilled for dinner. It is inside a hotel, hidden around the corner behind a set of stairs...don't let that put you off trying to find it. It's a hop, skip and a jump away from most of the hotels in Waikiki and completely worth trying. Go!
(5)Elizabeth B.
I ordered takeout and they were very friendly & accommodating. The fact the place was empty despite being in a heavily Japanese influenced hotel should have been a warning. Unfortunately the sushi was not very good:( The Ebi & Sake sushi were fair. The rolls were worse. This is one time I feel Yelp steered me wrong.
(1)Lekili D.
Friendly staff. Had Dragon roll & Takoyaki, both good. Try Hakutsuru organic sake, very nice! It is reminiscent of an 80s karaoke bar, with lime green bar trim and pink walls, but I love it :) It isn't easy to find Prince Edward entrance, but very easy to find once inside hotel lobby (to right of registration)
(4)Paula H.
Fun and Kitschy. Large menu, great sushi, good service and fun ambiance. Would absolutely go back.
(5)Michael L.
Great late night hang out! Sushi is good, but the company is even better. Love being able to share soju and beer with the owner!
(5)Dustin D.
The best sushi in Waikiki ! A wonderful place, with the nicest staff and the owner has a passion for sushi that is easily shown in her presentation and service! It's a smaller less crowded place with great service and amazing sushi for sushi lovers. A place you must go if u are in the area. My wife and I have named it our favorite dinner spot and will try to make it back their before our trip is over!
(5)Yi F.
I ordered the dragon special roll. It's the worst I have ever ate. Slow in service. Bad experience of first day here.
(1)Kristoffer F.
Me and my friends went there to buy Sushi. Found this place on Yelp. The sushi was pretty bad, looked messed up, a lot of mayonnaise and didn't taste like any other sushi we've tried. The place looked like an 80s karaoke bar. The people who worked there was really nice and friendly, had a good long chat and got an appetizer while waiting, and that was pretty good. Overall, the sushi sucked and the food was thrown in the garbage.
(1)Lindsay C.
We tried this restaurant based on other Yelp reviews, and were very pleased. The service was great, and when they misunderstood one of our orders, they apologized and provided us with a small treat on the house. We tried several rolls, including the Orange County and the Candy Cane, and they were delightful. Perhaps not the most fabulous sushi I've ever tried, but the service gets them the five stars.
(5)Larry A.
I stopped in there in April. I ordered a mai tai.The drink was good. But the man working in there was very rude.He had 2 other customers who had ordered food. I asked to see the food menu and he just ignored me. When I asked again, he handed me a dirty menu and walked away. He never did ask what I wanted to eat so I paid for my drink and left.
(2)christine l.
Just arrived in Waikiki and yelped a restaurant for dinner. We saw there was a few reviews for Midori, but don't let it fool you. And the owner as mentioned was extremely informative and suggestive of various rolls/sushi. We had a rainbow roll, spider roll, chefs choice hand roll...all very tasty. My friend wasn't a huge fan of all the mayo sauce on the rolls, but it was good and I would definitely return.
(4)Carl C.
We loved this place. The atmosphere was quiet and felt very un-Waikiki like, which was just fine with me. The place is run by a Japanese couple, the wife was our server and she was great - friendly and helpful. She made sure our tea cups were kept full. The menu is quite large and a bit overwhelming. Our selections ranged from good to great. The hamachi (recommended as "very fresh") was the best I've ever had. Next time I would definitely ask what's fresh and be sure to order that. Spicy tuna roll was also outstanding. I think this place does better with basics than with fancy westernized rolls - the philly roll was the weakest of all the items we ordered. Prices were extremely reasonable for the quality of the sushi. We ordered enough for three people and the tab was about $70 (including the toro, which always costs). I would definitely go back.
(5)Jim J.
This place has good food at a reasonable price. The bad thing is that they have a terrible location. Tucked into a hotel occupied primarily by Asians is not a good location to tap into the ENTIRE tourist market. Either way, if you want some cheap sushi in Waikiki, come by.
(5)Janet J.
The sushi here is great!! And this is coming from a couple who has tried three different sushi bars in Honolulu in four days. This place resembles an 80s karaoke bar. We kind of felt like we were in the twilight zone... or in the Scarface movie. I'm not sure if our waiter could hear or see very well and the service was a little slow. However, the sushi was the best we've had while in Honolulu and the prices are very reasonable. Try the Godzilla roll! By the way, "lettuce" on the menu actually means cucumber.

A well hidden place with no windows to the outside world, only reachable through a small glass door from the hotel lobby. Saturday night at 7pm and we were the only customers. There really isn't much atmosphere to speak of, beer kegs and stacks of boxes stored in the restaurant area don't make it better either. The quality of the food does not really justify the price. Perhaps the area is pretty expensive in general, but we certainly left thinking that we'd rather spend a little more money and then get a really nice meal.
