Crunch bowl is very good, I order it all the time very consistent and so Ono Very friendly place and would always go back. Need to post menu on yelp

Friendly staff, however disappointed with the actual nigiri and temaki. Ironically, though, I absolutely love their fries and cheeseburger. The fries are my favorite!

What more could you expect from a corner sushi spot made with a brand new sushi chef from Japan? The food was excellent. I have tried the food from Aloha Sushi before in various locations and this has got to be the best yet. I tried various foods from the maki sushis such as inari to fancier rolls like their "French Kiss". This roll was rice and tobiko encrusted on the outside with shrimp tempura with lettuce in the middle. The tempura was not too crunchy nor flimsy; it was just right. The service excellent and although their English is not superb, their Japanese and Korean abilities were top notch. I can speak English and my Korean isn't too bad, but to be able to speak three is respectable! Although I am not a big fan of desserts, they have slush drinks for the kids. My kid brother (8 years old) enjoyed it so I hope your little ones enjoy it too! The parking lot is small, but they are a corner sushi spot, so I think it is fairly adequate for this place. So after reading this, I ask again, what more could you expect from a corner sushi spot? Good food? Check! Good service? Check! Good parking? Good enough! Then I guess just like the yelp description for five stars: Woohoo! It's good as it gets!" Cheers my fellow yelpers.

The new management by a kind and pretty owner has been just started. Rolls are great and the platter was good. Personally I like Rock'n Roll (Unagi roll) and spicy ahi bowl. I'll definitely come back. Parking is availa in the front.

Stop by the other for a quick bite. Notice a new woman working and I ask if she just started. She said she just bought this a month ago. I ordered a few hand rolls and some nigiri sushi. Big difference from previous owner. They use real sushi rice, food taste fresher and service is quicker. Found out she use to make sushi in a busy sushi restaurant. I'll be back for sure.

Dear Aloha Sushi, The lady helping me was extremely confused. First, she did not seem to know you had a natto-kimchee roll even though it was on the menu. Second, when I asked her to explain the fancy rolls she got them completely wrong. I ordered what she described as "A california roll with shrimp tempura" and received some sort of raw fish roll. I detest raw fish. With a passion. I also ended up with two natto kimchee rolls even though I had only ordered one. The funny thing was, the order took LITERALLY over twenty-five minutes to prepare. and we were the ONLY order being prepared until a woman came in fifteen minutes later. And the strangest part was that we could smell the tempura being fried yet I received a roll of raw fish with no tempura. That I unfortunately did not open until an hour later. What?!! It was like ordering sushi in the twilight zone. The natto-kimchee roll was delicious, though. So I was glad I had two of them. Vegetable roll was bleah. You should work on that. Sincerely, Angela

Very disappointed with the quality of the food. The woman and her daughter were very nice, but unfortunately the fish was so bad we couldn't even eat it. Won't be going back for take-out again.

Lots of selections but the trouble is the wait was quite long. Well, bibimbap was quick. It was alright, but was not enough to bring me back. However, the parking spots are a great.

This new Aloha Sushi is located next door to Kuakini/Nuuanu 7-Eleven and is housed in the red brick office building that has a beauty salon and travel agency for neighbors. Parking lot is kind of small, ten stalls plus a handicapped and reserved parking stall. Parking lot was fairly empty when I went which was nice for me. Be careful walking into the store itself because the flooring they installed is higher than the outside part of the store. I almost tripped. This place looks like a hole in the wall. If you have five people inside the store than it would be packed already. There is only one table with four seats for eating inside the store and three more tables outside. Never had alfresco sushi before, that's a first. First thing I noticed about the menu is the price. Looks kind of pricey to me, at least compared to the old location where the Nuuanu Walgreens is going to be. Plus I just paid $7.25 for a maki mono at Kozo Sushi at high rent prone Keeaumoku and they're asking for $8.99 for a similar type maki? Call me skeptical. They have a menu posted outside the store which is nice but I wish they would give descriptions of their maki mono. Would like to know what is a French Kiss, Kiss of Fire, Rock N Roll, BLTA maki, Volcano Maki, Crazy Seafood Maki, Tiger, Dragon, Rainbow, Spider, and Dynamite maki is. They have pictures inside but i'm near sighted and can't see too good. Anyways, as a creature of habit I decided to order the Spicy Ahi Tempura maki ($8.99+tax) which sounded like Kozo's Dragon maki. The cashier asked if I would like a free bowl of miso soup. For $9 sushi, of course I want free miso soup, so yes please! There was kind of a big order in front of me so there was a bit of a wait. Wasn't in a rush so no problem for me. I was tempted to get their iced coffee and a Nestle Tollhouse cookie. They have mochi ice cream too. Tempting, oh so tempting. The miso soup was really good. There's wakame, green onions and tiny diced tofu in the soup. Since I ordered it to go they put a piece of cardboard under the bowl to keep the heat off of my sushi. That was a nice touch. The Spicy Ahi Tempura maki is an 8pc uramaki sushi surrounded with toasted sesame seeds and enclosed with nori, spicy ahi, shrimp tempura, lettuce and cucumber and topped off with sriracha mayo. The lettuce and cucumber gave the sushi a nice crunch. The shrimp tempura was more plump than normal (thumbs up). The spicy ahi was also nice and chunky (don't think there was sesame oil in this one). Definitely different than Kozo's. Can't say who's better. Kind of a toss up but if I had to pick, I'm leaning towards Kozo because they have more ahi in it, but less rice. Free miso soup is a nice touch although don't know if it's part of their Grand Opening or if it's a regular occurrence. For 9 bucks I hope it is. 31 Yelps Review Challenge (27/31).

I really wanted to like this place & leave a good review because the ladies here are the sweetest although they can barely speak English. But their food needs some serious improving. The rice was hard. I would expect a sushi place ran by obvious Japanese people would know a thing or two about good sushi rice but that is not the case here. If I had to assume I would think the rice was old but they didn't want to waste so they figured they'd just use it & hoped I wouldn't notice. Well I definitely noticed. Also the "ahi" in the spicy ahi had the oddest texture. I could not bring myself to finish even half because the combination of old rice & weird textured fish was just screaming "DO NOT EAT ME!" Even though I spent about $25 on a bunch of sushi I probably only ate about $2 of it. Very disappointed. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Sorry Aloha Sushi!

A friend recommended we try this place for a late lunch since its kind of in our neighborhood, needless to say I was just a little hesitant with the reviews being either love it or loathe it. The owner was very nice as was her daughter who was doing homework. Of course they have all the essentials you would expect from a typical take-out sushi place like this with the exception of a number of Korean bowls and they serve burgers and fries lol. This has to be the only place that does this, and I will try it later. My friend and I shared a chicken and beef donburi and we each got our own order of the spicy nigiri (3 ct. per order). The chicken and beef don was really good no kidding and the portion was enough for two people and I can eat a lot. The chicken had a char and glaze to it and it was really soft, the beef was tender and flavorful and came with grilled onions. It was just chicken and beef over rice with a little furikaki but it had such great flavor, I was very impressed. The spicy ahi nigiri honestly reminded me of the spicy ahi nigiri at Sushi II in the Sam Sung Plaza. It was'nt the heavy mayonayze based creamy style of spicy ahi but rather a sharper spicier version that you find at more traditional sushi bars. The ahi tasted fresh and packed some heat that kind of snuck up on me. If their spicy ahi always tastes like this then this might just be my new favorite place. I took pics of what we ate and am certainly planning on coming back real soon.

Recently ordered a platter for the UH game and the Fish was spoiled! I did not check the platter when i picked it up, it was wrapped up in a plastic bag ( tied) and i assumed it was good. I called the owner immediately after opening the platter and told her about the ahi was brown in color and it tasted bad. She did not have anything to say to me, so i told her i wanted a refund. She agreed. Unfortunately It was too late to go back there the same night, and i was not able to return to Aloha Sushi to get my refund until 2 days later. The owner would not refund my money, she said i was supposed to have come back that night! I was at the UH game, i wasn't going to leave early to go and collect me refund! I am glad that i did not get sick!

Had lunch at this location a couple of times, food is tasty and fresh, self run by owners, only 1 cook and 1 cashier/order taker, limited seating inside to two people, outside has three tables to accommodate 6-8 total people and orders brought to your table. Expected wait time is approximately 15-30 minutes depending on the crowd, aloha.

It's great that Aloha Sushi reopened after leaving Nuuanu Shopping Center. This location is actually nicer with an outdoor seating area. Menu is similar like before but there are more donburi options. I don't recall seeing Korean Sushi like they had before which I kind of miss. They do seem to have more drink options. Service is pretty fast and friendly. While the parking lot is smaller, you compete with less neighboring businesses and I've never come across being left out of a spot. I do like how smooth the pavement is. I remember going off-road in Nuuanu Shopping Center's parking lot. Anyhow...a good spot for sushi in the Nuuanu area.

Some of items listed on the menu dont exist..which sucks. Don't get the avocado here..they dont use ripe avos..theyre harder than than the cucumber..usually dont eat rice with the plate lunches either..ask for sides. Nonetheless, like any other takeout sushi place its decent..i love the family that owns it though, theyre so cute..looking forward to when they get their bubble drink machine!

Two stars because the service was good and the owners seem nice. Would do 2.5 stars if possible because he even accomodated a special request I made for a simple item which was not on the menu. The fish was just really bad, though. Unagi nigiri was inedible--really fishy. The tekka maki was edible but not as good as what you would find at the grocery. Same goes for the ahi tuna mai roll. Salmon nigiri didn't look right or taste right. I will not be going back. I have not been to an Aloha Sushi in some time, and maybe this is just how they all are. It was bad; will not return.

The owner is really nice. Plus don't know how long it will last but with any $8 or more purchase you get FREE miso soup

Yay! I am a fan. I came when it wasn't busy so parking was easy (unlike almost everywhere in Hawaii). It's a nice little place. Outdoor seating. It's a nice place to grab some quick sushi.

So I had takeout and I ordered a spicy ahi maki. It first came out not looking anything like the image on the wall, and then when I got around to eating it, I discovered that there was romaine inside the roll. Practically no ahi, loads of mayo, some raw onion, and plenty of rice. I think it was 8.50 for six pieces, plus no miso soup like some reviewers had mentioned. Um, sorry, no. I've never had sushi as bad as this, where they use lettuce as filler! How awful. Spicy ahi and generally maki sushi is really hard to screw up... and they did. To be fair, my coworker's poke bowl looked pretty good, large cubes of fresh looking ahi so I added back a star.

This was a great spot for me. I enjoyed the chicken Katsu & shrimp tempura donburi special I had. Also added a natto roll. It hit my need for comfort food while & am visiting my mom @ Kuakini Hospital. Just a short walk from there. It's smaller than a the normal hole in the wall restaurant, but it work for me.
