Came to this place after visiting someone at the hospital. I had the grilled chicken sandwich. Let me say that it wasn't the greatest. The grilled chicken sandwich was just a bun, ranch, a piece of lettuce, and the grilled chicken. The ranch was bland and the grilled chicken was tough. Maybe I'll try some other food next time. The fries, on the other hand, were very good. I would definitely order that with my next meal. And to top off dinner, my meal came with a sundae. Ordered a butterscotch sundae. It was decent. I'd order that again if I'm in the mood. Im definitely going to try their other flavors next time. All in all, customer service was great. Nice people to talk to and good fries to come back to.

Another classic local place, I've been coming here on and off for a long time! Great place to grab a scoop. But if your going to eat, either get the Korean snack or go all in with the Bento Fish, Chicken, Beef & Spam over rice.

I've always loved Kozmic Kones since when it was still Dairy Queen. Plate lunches are good, but I typically order a double cheeseburger deluxe with a burrito snack. Definitely not healthy, but they are yummy. Many I'd the Dairy Queen desserts are sold, but with different names.

This is the only fast food place I give in to. I love their fish burgers and french fries - always piping hot! Very reasonable, friendly service, and a drive thru to boot. They even have well painted murals inside!

Kosmic Cones is out of this world! Sorry for the cliche, but you know what they say; cliches are mini truths revealed! Tucked away across the street from the Hilo Public Library is this popular local joint that serves plate lunches and local grinds. There's a drive thru too. But it's the sweet treats that will have your tummy singing great praises, especially the slush freeze, which is essentially a blended slush float with a milkshake consistency. Never tried their food, but I always make time for the coke slush freeze when in Hilo! Yum!

I only come here for the ice cream since I live right up the street. I get the chocolate covered mac nut cone everytime. When it's good it's gosh darn amazing! Sometimes the cone is stale though, so I can't give this place 5 stars :(

When you want to eat a plate lunch and fast, this is the place to go. I love their Teri hamburger and chicken katsu. Prices are cheap. I love drive in type of places for fast food over McDonald's or Burger King. This place has awesome sundaes too!

Only been here twice in the past 8 years. I live Kona side so I never really stop by Kozmic Cones. BUT both times Ive been here, I wasnt disappointed. I havent tried their plate lunches or food but both times I've been, I got the oreo cookie cone, SO GOOD!!!!! Next time I go Hilo Ill def have to try their food. Also, it's dine in or drive-thru so thats a plus. Theres a large mural inside with ufos which was cool. Pretty speedy service too. Will be back =)

Was told I HAD to stop at Kosmic Cones if in Hilo. It's a small spot with old school burgers, fries, desserts, as well as some local style plate lunch options. We kept it simple since we had been eating all day with 3 slush floats...strawberry, vanilla, and melon. I tried all three and they're all super good! Wish I had room for a burger or even a dipped cone or an orbitz (kinda like a DQ Blizzard), but there's always next time!

Loved Kozmics when I was in high school, love it now. My absolute fave is the chicken katsu snack. It's a cute size for an amazing price. I actually would consider getting a regular order now because I would probably eat the whole thing :) Kozmics is very fast on service, great reasonable prices, with amazing food! I would definitely recommend it to local or visitors!

We just had ice cream and fries here. I can't complain it was tasty. I was disappointed with the lack of selection of ice cream here though for a place named Kozmic Cones I expected more. All they have is vanilla soft serve. I had a large (good price and only a quarter more than the small) with a chocolate dip. It was yummy. The cone was rather stale though. The fries were average. I would go again despite the limited selection and maybe try the slush floats.

Great atmosphere, fastest service around, affordable and best of all DELICIOUS food! It's s place the locals like coming to for their vanilla ice cream cones rolled in macadamia nut chunks. Their snacks are a fun food option. Meat and rice with a tiny salad. We got the asian chicken. It was basically fried chicken wings in a teriyaki sauce. Their ice cream Sunday's are delicious too!

So who say's ice cream is not a breakfast food? It's made by milk products, and milk does a body good! :) That is my justification for eating ice cream this morning for breakfast! Lol! Truthfully, my friend on facebook had posted some pictures of this MASSIVE ice cream cone from Kozmic Cones, and I just had to find out what this place was all about. Today, while I was working in Hilo..........my time with Kozmic Cones has finally crossed each other's paths! I must say, it was treat to eat at this place today. This place appears to be an old local kine grind place, and they do offer some "DIRT CHEAP" breakfast specials. I actually came for breakfast, & and found myself ordering a breakfast special which consisted of two scopes rice, two scrambled eggs, and choice of meat, all of this for just $3.99. Of course the local boy in me had to get the SPAM for my choice of meat. I tell you, if Spam was healthy and good for you.......I'd eat it everyday! That's how much I love the SPAM!!!! Unfortunately, I have to limit my Spam intake, otherwise I will be visiting heaven much sooner, than later. Kozmic cone has a simple menu, they serve up some simple plate lunch types of things......I will have to come back again one day to sample their plate lunches. Now for the ice cream........didn't know what kind of ice cream to order, so I ended up getting a small chocolate dipped cone. I gotta tell you, for a small cone.......it's not that small at all. I couldn't even eat it all, and the soft serve ice cream started to melt so fast, all over my hands. What a nasty mess it was!!! I guess the man who took my order for breakfast this morning was looking at me a little weird, and I bet he was thinking......."DUDE, you want ICE CREAM for breakfast"? And the correct answer to that is - "YES, I WANT ICE CREAM FOR BREAKFAST"! Lol! :) Check 'em out gang!

I was soooo excited to try this place, I thought the theme was cool and fun.... But it disappointed me. The items we got were bland, tasted like I could've gotten them from a random ice cream truck.... Maybe we just for the wrong items... I wouldn't mind trying it again, I'll make sure to get something else. Prices were reasonable, and they had friendly service, so why not give it another try...

They're named Kozmic Cone and boast a sign with an ice cream cone, but they literally don't have real ice cream.... carrying only one flavor (vanilla), which is also soft serve, I was mostly disappointed by this false advertising. We didn't try the meals since we were there looking for ice cream. The soft serve cone itself wasn't bad, but you could get the same thing but larger and cheaper at McDonalds. They have a couple toppings to put on the soft serve (and in shakes) so at least there's that. Shakes are a good size. Wanted to like you.

A diamond in the ruff! We had the "orbit", which is similar to a Blizzard from DQ, and it was the best thing I have ever had! Fresh pineapple and banana mixed in with the ice cream was amazing! I'm glad we didn't pass this up!

Great place for good food and ice cream treats. It was my common eating place when I worked in the Wainaku area. But I noticed one small change since then... I am a Hamburger Steak fan, and this was the only place where I could get it and a small drink for under $7. But a few months back, when I bit into the patty, it tasted "different", not the same from earlier times. I thought maybe my taste buds was off that day, so I ordered it again a few weeks later... but alas, I didn't enjoy it. It seems like the patty was made under a new process or obtained via a new provider. Whatever the case, I became deterred from ordering anything that contained a burger patty. Aside from that disappointment, everything else on their menu board is good, especially when Chicken Tofu is on the menu. Definitely a good place to eat when you want something more than dollar menu items.

This is our favorite spot for sweet treats. Always friendly and fast! Their ice cream is very reminiscent of Dairy Queen soft serve...it's nearly identical, which I love. Excellent blizzard-esque (I forgot what they call them) treats, banana splits, and dilly bar type desserts, but my favorite is the frozen dipped bananas. They use local apple bananas and you can't beat the .89 cent price point. They can also roll them in mac nuts for extra crunch and flavor. I've never had anything but dessert here, but it will always be our local ice cream spot!

Kozmic Cones is your basic ice cream shop. I ordered a Reese's Orbit. Basically it's a Dairy Queen blizzard. Tasted fantastic on a hot, hot day. And the medium was larger than I expected. But it's basically ice cream, so it's hard to vault it beyond three stars unless there were something amazing at hand.

I only get a few things from here: - Chili & rice bowl with fries - Teri Hamburger Martian Meal - Strawberry Slush Float These are my absolute favs! Def comfort food for me. However the chili has changed over the years (in my opinion) and it's just not as good as it was when I was younger LOL. I get the Martian Meal a lot and I always get the token instead of the sundae, so I have a bunch of tokens stockpiled somewhere for free sundaes :P The bf likes their hamburger steak plate and nutty cone. Oh and note - their chicken katsu is not really traditional style chicken katsu at all... it's more "American" style (if that makes any sense :P) with a thick seasoned breading. So overall I just come here when I want something fast and yummy. I rarely dine-in but the place is clean and kid-friendly. Lots of parking, usually good & fast service.

The bf: "Babe, do you want a slush float?"..... Me: "A whaaa???" The bf: "Oh you'll see..." On one of my driving tours of Hilo...the bf pulls into a little drive in with a modest menu that had featured typical items that you would find on most plate lunch menus across the islands. But we were on a quest to fulfill my sweet tooth and quickly jumped over to their ice cream and shakes list. The bf said that I had to try the "slush float" which I found to be akin to a Dairy Queen "Mr. Misty Float"......icee/slushee with a generous pile of soft served ice cream on the side of your cup. MMMMM!!! I opted for the Melon Flavor and the honey chose the Coke slush. DELISH!!! Kozmic Cones delivers a below average banana split (no cherries). The establishment is located right off Waianuenue Avenue. The inside walls are decorated with a large mural, done in a cartoon style (think Dora the Explorer), depicting the local neighborhood. Plenty of parking is available along with bathrooms. Kozmic Cones has plenty of challengers in the area but I think they are oblivious to the competition. The service and food need a lot of help.

As a work of kozmic cones our food is one of the best our ice cream is also one of the best in town.. we clean our machines unlike McDonald's we actually take it apart.. our orbits we cut our candies fresh we don't get it pre cut or what not. Even our strawberries we cut it and mix it for the sundae topping.. where else can u get a cone rolled in macnuts, Oreos, sprinkles even better yet dipped in chocolate then rolled in those.. I'm just saying the truth.. if u haven't tried kozmics you don't know what ur missing

Three Words: MELON SLUSH FREEZE!!! You might not know this is on the menu since the flavors aren't listed, and "slush freeze" is a pretty vague name. Thanks to yelp I learned of this treat, and my boyfriend and I swung by on a rainy night for a taste. It was worth the drenched hem of my maxidress (haha) to experience the deliciousness! In fact we returned a couple of days later to indulge again before leaving town. I will definitely have to try to recreate this at home, though I'm not sure it can match up. Try one; it'll send you into orbit!

The slush freeze is A W E S O M E! ! ! Why don't they sell this on the mainland?!? Why is this untapped, addicting concoction not spreading like a plague. If a guy in a trench coat smelling of stale whiskey and carrying a 40 said he had slush freezes in the back of his van I would go. After sucking the cup dry, I was ready to flip over the Naha and become King of Hawaii. ... I think they have burgers and other rice stuff too.

So originally I was going to rate this a 3, but then read the reviews for melon freeze and chili and decided to try them before rating it. My belly is full and I'm glad I gave them another chance. The freeze float is soft serve ice cream with slushy, I got the melon and it was good. It was almost as good as a Melona ice cream bar, but not quite. Hawaii sells Melona ice cream bars and a few Asian stores in the San Fran Bay Area, this taste very similar. Overall I was happy with it and ate it almost all before my food came out. Today the special was chili and fried chicken and it comes standard with rice and potato Mac salad. The chili was really sweet chili, which is how I make it and love, you could taste the sugar. To me it was better than the ice cream. I had the fried chicken last week and even though the flavor was hot you could tell it wasn't perfectly fresh or hot, that was not the case today. It was hot, buttery crispy skin with a sweet hint. It was delicious. I don't like their potato Mac salad at all, but my dogs enjoy that I don't like it :) I got the curry stew a month or do ago and I was shocked my bag weighed between 3-5 pounds, no joke. Good, but lots of fat. Oh and my box today probably weighed a good 3 pounds. Tons of food!

I actually like their hamburgers a lot and I really like their fries - nice and crispy and they come in a little cup you can put in your cup holder. If you get a meal you can get your Sundae now, or a token for some other time. Nice. The Ice Cream Sundae on a stick is yummy too.

Hilo has many drive-ins, but Kozmic Cones has the best milkshakes! They are cheap and delicious. I did not get a chance to try out regular food items on their menu, but will definitely do next time.

Their Shrimp with Teri Plate, Gravy Burger and Strawberry or Coke Slush Floats are good!! Got the Drive-Thru Window if your to lazy to get dressed and go out....thats a plus for me! Sometimes.....lol!

Pretty cool "throw back" diner! You can actually get a meal for under $5 and be happy with it. Chile over rice... burger w/ fries... plate lunches offered here. Tempting desserts for after the meal...

Hawaiian Plate here is awesome when available! I've had numerous Hawaiian Plates ranging from $10-15! This plate lunch was only $7.95. The taste is way better than any Hawaiian Plate I've had in Hilo, for much less! The chicken long rice was hot and flavorful. The kalua pork was very moist and perfectly salted. The lomi had big chunks of salmon, something that every plate I had lacked. It comes with a heaping scoop of white rice. Deals! Yummmmy!

The slush freezes are great and the food is great, too. Love the chicken katsu, which is even better as the curry katsu plate lunch special (Saturdays, I think). The fries are fantastic. My family swears by the chocolate shakes. My favorite lately is the chocolate dipped cone. Mmmmmm!
