I'm good friends w/ the son of the owners, so I stopped by to try it. They didn't know who I was, and their son wasn't there, so I got to experience what it's like for any other customer who visits. I really liked it. The service is super friendly. The food is really good. They were very accommodating so some requests I made. Their seafood was especially surprising, as it wasn't just fish and shrimp. My favorite so far is their cake-noodle dishes. The only negative thing about the place is good luck finding some place to park.

This little restaurant is amazing! Came here with a group of 12 and we ordered in. It was really awesome! We ordered beef tomato, crispy tofu with black bean sauce, eggplant with pork hash, garlic eggplant, roast duck made in 2 ways (roast duck with plum sauce & duck tofu soup), and salt & pepper shrimp. Everyone really loved everything. The food & service was outstanding! Totally reccomend this place!

So friendly isn't everything. And there's no denying that they are friendly, but to be frank, the food was not as good as I expect from a Cantonese restaurant, especially when they speak the language. I have a weak spot for crispy oyster chicken, so when I saw it on the menu, I had to have it. The chicken by itself, perfectly crispy. Now the oyster sauce- it was lacking the oyster. It had the color and texture, but no oyster flavor. I also had a diet coke to go with my meal- they need to adjust their formula to give more syrup. Very watery. Next time I'm in the area, maybe I'll give them another try....maybe.

Food is very average- nothing like Cantonese cuisine you get in Hong Kong. It cant even compare to chinese buffets at the mainland. As a matter of fact I asked the workers- all of them are from Mainland China. Prices are reasonable. Best thing about this restaurant is portion size, you wont leave hungry. If you dont care about quality, this place is okay...

I really wanted to like this place, as there is a marked lack of good Chinese food in Hilo. This is a cute little place, and the staff were quite nice. Unfortunately, it didn't deliver. Although the main components of the dishes that I ordered were cooked properly, the let down was the sauces. For mains I ordered lemon chicken and canton shrimp. I was a little surprised to see the sauces for the dishes were kept separately in a refrigerator away from the prep area, and were provided in small plastic containers (this was a take out order). When I got home, I was happy this was the case. I got the distinct impression that they were bought in, not prepared. The lemon chicken sauce was a somewhat alarming electric yellow, with a faintly chemical aftertaste. The canton shrimp sauce was similarly unimpressive. I also had some crispy gau gee, which were about on par with what other Hilo Chinese places serve. Triangle folded, with about a pinky knuckle's worth of meat. It's entirely possible I ordered the wrong things and there are gems to be had on their menu. Sadly, I don't think I'll be going back to find out.

Simple take-out Chinese with a few tables. Steam table for quick lunch service. Clean, friendly smiling service. I was MOST EXCITED by their "Dim Sum and Appettizers"... Steamed char siu manapua ($1.50) best I've had in Hilo yet... Delicious pork hash dumpling .75 ea, half moon dumpling with mushroom and bean filling .80 each, crispy gau gee $6/dozen. Call ahead for shrimp dumpling .75 each. Totally yummy. I'll be back! They're the first business on the left in a little strip mall of fast food eateries near UH.

Lacking in flavor. Had the Broccoli Garlic. Also bring your own rice; as you won't get any with your entree.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
