Muffuletta sandwich is good, but waayyy overpriced! Couple slices of salami, one-two slices of ham, and a bunch of different cheeses. That's not worth $14.58! I could've gone to Puka Puka Kitchen and got a huge plate that would serve me twice. Maybe if they put more than one or two slices of ham and salami I'd give a better review. A true Muffuletta sandwich should have layers of meat. Not sure if I'll go back. Only reason I tried was because this place looked like they have something different.

Great ambiance mixed with great food. The midnight Cuban w/the lilikoi mustard was amazing. The onomea bay sandwich got rave reviews from my friend. The lunch was capped with the delicious homemade banana bread pudding. All ingredients are organic and local, which makes it pricey for a soup/sandwich place, but if don't mind the price and want a tasty lunch, I would recommend this place. The location is amongst the downtown shops and gives you an ocean view.

Super cute, colorful little lunch cafe with friendly service. I ordered the Bayfront Club with chips & appreciated the fresh veggies used in the sandwich. The mango butter & herb cream cheese added a nice flavor as well. The Muffuletta sandwich was deliciously rich & cheesy -- loved the focaccia bread they used. Both sandwiches tasted great with a douse of the Big Island Peppers chili pepper water too! We went home with a bottle of our own. We finished our lunch with the warm bread pudding dessert -- so sweet topped with Tahitian vanilla bean Hilo homemade ice cream & condensed milk. Amazing. I'd highly recommend this dessert. Prices are a little high for the portion sizes but for interesting sandwich, wraps & salad combinations featuring fresh local ingredients, it's worth it.

A cute little hole in the wall along the boardwalk. You can see the beach when you step outside and it is a beautiful scenery. I stopped by here with my friend on our way back from a botanical garden. We needed some fuel and found this place on yelp. We were craving something light and saw that they had fresh wraps on the menu, It was exactly what we needed. This place is super colorful and quiet since there were only one party in there with us. They also have ice cream for dessert which was delicious as well. Great service and super modern vibe.
(3)Ruth S.
Had a nice lunch here today. Ordered Muffuletta and husband had Club. We tried vegetable soup too. Soup was a purée and we were not expecting that. It was ok. Sandwiches pretty good. Quantity, sufficient, quality very good, effort was superb, price was a bit high. Overall, good lunch.
(3)Harriet R.
My husband and I had lunch here today and we're very impressed! The place is very clean- even to the flowers in the restroom! I had the Warm Ono Mediterranean Salad and my husband had the Muffaleta Sandwich! Both items were delicious, generous portions complemented by the flavorful lillikoi iced tea. We shared a piece of homemade Key Lime pie! Perfect mac-nut crust! Overall, a delicious lunch well worth the tab. Give it a try!

We drove from Kona to Hilo, stopped to find a bathroom & look for lunch & just happened upon the Aloha Bayfront Cafe. I was really excited when I saw they served organic & locally grown food. When we walked in, a group of 4 was leaving & raving about the food. They told us we couldn't go wrong; everything they ordered had been delicious (or "Ono" ). Katraessa waited on us & Autumn was at the counter. They both were friendly & the service was fantastic. The menu contained mostly salads, sandwiches & locally made ice creams - a perfect place for lunch. I ordered the Cuban, my Mom & sister ordered the Hawaiian Bleu & my boyfriend had a turkey spinach wrap. Everyone was happy w/ their order. If you like ice cream, this was the place to get it! We tried the toasted coconut, chocolate brownie, Kona coffee & the Mac nut - it was all good. This place was a great find & I'm completely happy we stopped. If you're ever in Hilo & looking for lunch, do yourself a favor & stop here!

Traveled to Hilo for a helicopter ride. As we arrived in Hilo it was raining heavily. We had lunch at this cafe. It was FAR & above any lunch ever tasted! The chef is a master of good taste. We ordered Ono sandwich, a turkey club and a turkey Reuben. Every bite was exquisite! Finished our meal with an amazing key lime pie - fantastic! Thank you. Possibly the best part of our day!
(5)John R.
What a great find. Visiting from Los Angeles, CA on our way to the volcano decided to stop and eat first. Service was great and food was delicious! My wife and kids loved the home made ice cream.
(5)Lynn S.
I love this place. I wish it were near my home. We stopped here before going to hike the volcano park. Clueless, we searched yelp. Came here for the promise of healthy food. The house salad was really big and just what I needed after so much traditional island food. Hubby ordered the (kualana?) pork wrap. It was so good!! My ideal healthy meal- beautiful pork, tossed salad greens, wrapped in a spinach wrap. I would eat this everyday. We tried to come here after our volcano hike but they were closed--dang it!

Had lunch today. The person who seated us was so mellow, made us feel so welcomed. The decor was trendy and pretty. I ordered the Cuban, toasted sweet bread with warm pulled pork, ham and melted Swiss cheese, so yummy! I also had the Lilikoi iced tea with free refill. I usually take sugar with my tea, but liked it as it was, not sweet at all. After reading the reviews for the key lime pie, I ordered mine to go, since I ate my whole sandwich, which was filling. I snuck a bite of the pie and it didn't disappoint! Not too tart not too sweet, but creamy lime goodness with macadamia nut crust. Can't wait to go home and have it with coffee. Minus one star cause the Cuban was $14, and a slice of pie was $6, but I guess the clean and friendly atmosphere made up for it! Will be back!
(4)Elsie P.
The food was pretty good and the desserts were amazing, I recommend the key lime pie and the bread pudding. Normally when I get a sandwich for $14 I expect something that I wouldn't be able to make at home. That said the reason why I gave it only 3 stars was because the price was too high for what you got.
(3)Ann T.
Amazing place. It's beautifully designed inside, very nice and clean. The food was wonderful, no complaints whatsoever. I had the Cuban midnight sand which, which was amazing and I highly recommend. The service was excellent, the whole staff is very nice. If you're looking for a place to stop and have lunch or dinner, the Aloha Beachfront Cafe is great. Seriously, eat here.
(5)Berni P.
Loved this place! Not only was the food delicious, but the place itself was clean. I ordered their Kaulana wrap with kalua pork and it was amazing!! it was my first time trying kalua pork. It's not very often I visit Hawaii, but next time I do, I will definitely go to this spot again. Make a location in California!
(5)Julia L.
This is the cutest cafe! It is centrally located in downtown Hilo. It's easy to find and really cute inside. My husband and I had the tuna Melt and the club, and ice cream of course. They have gluten free bread- which was awesome for me. The service was slow, because the kitchen was running behind, but we had fresh, delicious food and the waitress was super sweet. Great for a quick lunch and some healthier noms.
(5)Sam K.
If you're looking to grab a quick bite this isn't your place, but if you're willing to hang loose and wait for an hour this is your place. The service was absolutely terrible. There is only one person serving and probably only one person in the kitchen as well. The food here is great though; the Cuban midnight was delicious as well as the kahuala wrap. Bottom line: if you're willing to be really patient with your service and for your food, then definitely eat here. If not then walk down the street and eat at one of the 20 other restaurants in Hilo.
(4)Robin S.
This was a nice spot for lunch. The sandwiches are good and the service was very friendly if perhaps a bit slow at times. The Tropical Dreams ice cream is amazing. I recommend this place for a good lunch.
(4)Ds A.
This place was pretty tasty. I loved that the ingredients were all pretty local. Great service too, our waitress was very attentive. I got the turkey wrap and it was great. Make sure to try their house made hot sauce!
(4)Joy R.
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch today! Four people ordered the Onamea Wrap, the Cuban sandwich, the Kaluha pork wrap and the salad special (poached chicken with greens and goat cheese). Each of us thought the item was delicious and well presented. We ended the meal enjoying the fabulous key lime pie with macadamia nut crust! Yum, yum! Our waiter, Autumn, made it all very fun and most enjoyable! We all agreed we would return if in Hilo again - no doubt about it! Mahalo!
(4)Canadian G.
Great service & great food. Good lunch spot, reasonable price. Food was very fresh & tasty.
(5)Yvonne C.
Yelp does it again! We went in for lunch to an environment that was "cafe" in style. The service was excellent with advice and background on the food as well as shopping tips and "tourist" advice. Then the food arrived-It was plated like the finest gourmet meal and everything we ordered was superb! We would go again and heartily recommend it.
(5)Rob G.
My husband, son and I ate here on our vacation. This was the best lunch we had during our stay in Hawaii!!! We ate at one of the tables outside. The server was wonderful, friendly and very helpful. I had the soup of the day which was a winter squash soup and it was amazing! I also had the Bayfront Club sandwich....delicous! My husband had one of the wraps and our son had the grilled cheese. Great price for kids meals, only $5! Our son said they should put a sign in their window saying home of the best grilled cheese in the world :) For dessert we tried the key lime pie and had some ice cream as well. The pie was very good, but our favorite was the Tropical Dreams ice cream, so good! We came back later in the week just for the ice cream. If you are in Hilo and are looking for a place for lunch, this is the place! You won't be disappointed.
(5)Kimmy F.
Had the Muffaletta; best sandwich EVER! Waitress was awesome! Very clean little cafe.
(5)Claire B.
We stopped there for lunch. We sat outside in the shadow and enjoyed the delicious toasted sandwiches. The food is fresh and of high quality, portions are generous. They have gluten free bread which is a plus for those who can't tolerate gluten.
(4)Rick B.
We ate here in April, 2014 and they were only open for 8 weeks, hence the few reviews. I am giving 5 stars based on their toasted Cuban sandwich alone! Probably the best I have had. A perfect blend of roasted pork, ham and plenty of pickles to add a touch of tang. Tables inside but 2 tables outside which are great. They also have great homemade Key Lime pie! Yum!
(5)Cherin W.
wonderful hot sandwiches and key lime pie! Will definitely be back
(5)Angus S.
Awesome food. Great service. Amazing key lime pie. Highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a gray casual meal with great food.
(5)Joe H.
Outdoor seating, bright and cheerful inside and delicious healthy foods. Keylime pie - mmmmmm! Hilo's best ice cream too. Highly recommended.
(5)Jessica A.
The food was amazing. Like, really, amazing. I had their cuban sandwich and I seriously wanted to order a second one right then and there. The place is small, like really small, narrow, like maybe 12 feet wide. When we stopped in for lunch, there was one other party there but it filled up while we waited for our food. There was only one server working, and I'm guessing one person cooking in the back. The food took a long time and the service was slow but friendly. Did I mention the food was amazing? This is a really small space, and while they were kid friendly to my kids, they only had 1 high chair so that meant lap sitting my other kid. The next group that came in with a kid was out of luck on the high chair situation. Beverage selection was super limited which was a little disappointing but not the end of the world.

Quite a while ago I did a search for places that served wraps near my office. This came up. I had never heard of it before. It had apparently only opened about 2 weeks prior. So I went and had lunch. I like the clean, chic atmosphere. It reminded me and my boyfriend of the cool coffee shops we'd go to in Chile. I go the Onomea wrap, coffee, and key lime pie. It was all fantastic and the key lime pie is the best on the island (I try them everywhere I see them - I recently learned that they actually use limes from Key West. I had no idea that could make such a difference). I've only gone back a few times and usually order the same thing (because I tend to go there when I'm in the mood for a wrap). I once tried the the Bayfront Club sandwich. It was amazing! The wrap and sandwiches come with your choice of local chips or cole slaw. The cole slaw is a small serving but you really don't need more than that. It's light, fresh, and refreshing. Although I first thought of it as a touristy place, I've seen several people I know eating there. The room is bright, the chairs and bench are all comfortable, the bathroom is very clean, and the service is excellent.
(5)Esther G.
Oh my gosh, this restaurant was so delicious. Not only are the owners kind and courteous. They serve you in the utmost care. Preparing our order took a bit but once you taste your meal you'll know why. Their ingredients are fresh. You can taste it. We had the Hawaiian Bleu sandwich and the pineapple didn't overpower the overall taste of the sandwich. Their soup of the day was fantastic. Fell in love with their banana bread pudding and the key lime pie was good as well. My absolute favorite spot in Hilo. You must try.
(5)Kim P.
We just had the most delicious lunch here. The salads and sandwiches were so tasty and the staff was extremely kind and helpful describing the dishes and ingredients. The chef is from Venezuela and has lived all over the world and her zest for flavors and textures of food is reflected in every bite. The "pepper water" is not to be missed and adds a delightful zing to the food.
(5)Mari C.
The Hawaiian Bleu sandwich was very good. My husband likes the veggie wrap too. We ate outside and enjoyed the gentle breeze. Sadly our view was blocked by a low wall and a car. Still quite pleasant.
(4)Rachael M.
Hands down the best place I've eaten in all of Hawaii! We had rented and flown a plane in and wanted something near the airport- we couldn't have been happier to have found this place! The service was phenomenal, the food was phenomenal I have nothing bad to say about this place at all!! It was a warm and cozy environment that made for the perfect escape from the Hilo rain. If you're in Hilo you must check it out, you will not regret it!!!
(5)Eleanor S.
So glad we stumbled into this place on a quiet afternoon. Very few other restaurants in Hilo were open for lunch after 2pm. Good variety of healthy foods with gluten free bread available for sandwiches. I got the veggie sandwich with gluten free bread and it was one of the best I've had! Great goat cheese and home made vinaigrette. The ice coffee was fantastic. My friend got the kalua pork wrap. Not too salty! Perfect combo of hearty but not heavy and served with a fantastic cole slaw. Highly recommended for a late lunch!
(5)Charlie B.
Our family came here for lunch after going to the farmers market nearby. The place is cute and colorful and the staff are very cute fly and helpful and knowledgeable of their menu. I had a chicken sandwich and while it was somewhat unique, it wasn't anything spectacular. The sauce was a nice shelter I will say but my main issue was the price, the lunch was good enough but for the piece we paid for 4 people I could have made just as good of a sandwich and packed it myself. I know that most of Hawaii in general is expensive anyway but I couldn't get overt how expensive it was. It was like $70-80 for lunch for 4 ppl, for regular sized sandwiches. Again the service was great and food was at least delicious so I gave them 3 stars.
(3)Chelsey A.
Went here for the first time with my fiancé today. We had the kaulana and onomea spinach wrap and it was very delicious! The coleslaw is the best coleslaw we ever had! Everything is so fresh and tasty! The owner makes her own dressings and sauces! Seriously can't believe we haven't eaten here before! Just slightly pricey..
(4)Audrey N.
As soon as my friend and I walked in, we were greeted and shown a table. The waitress was friendly and attentive throughout our lunch (I believe her name was Autumn). My friend and I split the Grilled Lehua and the Cuban Midnight. The chicken in the Lehua was thin and I liked that it wasn't dry. The honey mustard was so good; great touch to the sandwich. The sweetness went well with the chicken. The choice of using sweet bread is genius. Very good. The Cuban Midnight was also good. The kalua pork was nicely flavored, but I think the Lehua was the winner. We both got the coleslaw as a side. This was pretty good considering I don't like coleslaw. It was on the sweeter/tangier side. As we were leaving, the Vanilla Malt Toffee ice cream caught my eye so I had to sample and I was not disappointed. Will definitely be back...gotta get that ice cream! Definitely want to come back again, soon.

This place is a must. Located right across the street from Hilo Bay, with great views. What a great lunch. Surprisingly contemporary restaurant for Hilo, but so casual at the same time. Newly remodeled. Our waitress was class. I had the Kalua Pork spinach wrap and the flour tortilla was SO fresh. You must use the Hawaiian red pepper water they have in a bottle on the table on your dish. It has kick, but is so much better than hot sauce. And it married well with the Kalua pork. They have super delicious ice cream that everyone raves about, but I was too full to try. I hope this review helps with your dining choices in Hilo. Mahalo!
(5)Dana M.
After a week on the big island we finally found a small place that does it right. EXCELLENT cuisine, stylish decore, great service. We highly reccomend it! Try the bread pudding.
(5)Barbara G.
Great pizza. Service was good too.
(5)Karlee K.
Cuban midnight and the muffuletta are soooooo good. the portions are kinda small when you look at them but are bursting with enough flavor to leave you satisfied. the reason they get a 4 star is because of the portion size relative to the price which isn't outlandish...just a little higher than I would have liked to have paid.
(4)Lizzy Z.
Great spot for a quick bite! Awesome sandwiches- would recommend the Hawaiian bleu and the veggie sandwich. Friendly waitress and food came out well timed. Check out their ice cream too!
(5)Stacey C.
Cozy, clean little cafe. Had the Cuban Midnight sandwich. I was full with just half the sandwich, but it tasted so good I finished the whole thing. Loved the fresh slaw and the amazing Key lime pie. The server was very helpful and friendly. Loved the fact that they strive to use local products .
(4)Megan H.
Luckily, we stumbled upon this restaurant when my best friend and I were about ready to get our hangry on due to plummeting blood sugar. We stayed in Hilo for a few days and stopped here for lunch. Both of our meals were delicious (spinach pork wrap and grilled veggie sandwich), decently priced and served in a timely manner. They were both very fresh with delicious components.
(5)Tonya H.
Amazing food and great service! The Midnight Cuban was incredible and the Carrot a Ginger soup was delectable!
(5)L D.
We stopped in Hilo on our way to the volcanos and came across this wonderful cafe. The food was absolutely AMAZING! I had the Cuban sandwich, which was flawless. The service was superb! The owners are wonderful people and have created a lovely, welcoming place for people to enjoy. I highly recommend this place and I will definitely come back.
(5)Anna P.
Aloha Bayfront Cafe has delicious homemade foods made with local ingredients. This family-owned cafe has a friendly staff with great service. We split several dishes that were each fantastic. The Bayfront Club was delicious and the salads were fresh and original. I highly recommend the Key Lime Pie for dessert and you must try the ice cream. They use the best local Hawaiian ice cream, Tropical Dreams, and have several flavors. The cafe also offers many locally made foods that make great souvenirs such as mac nuts, chocolates, coffee, and hot sauces. If you're looking for a refreshing meal with local Hawaiian inspirations, this is the place to go!
(5)M S.
We were pleasantly surprised to find this Hilo treasure! The sandwiches, soup of the day and the key lime pie were outstanding. It's easy to miss since it is off the beaten path but I'm certain you will enjoy the food, great service and reasonable prices! A must eat in Hilo.
(5)Megan W.
Wow!!! The food was amazing. All homemade food! We ordered the soup of the day, the muffaletta and the grilled lehua. They were great! The best sandwiches we have ever had! Service was excellent!!! Verry helpful and friendly! The food was ready and prepared in about 10 minutes( if that)! The icecream was amazing as well. My husband had the white chicolate and macadamia nut icecream and the toasted coconut on a sugar cone and i had the strawberry cheesecake and toasted coconut in a bowl. Bother were amazing. We highly recommend the toasted coconut with anything!!
(5)Ken A.
My wife and I had lunch here while we were on vacation. I had the Cuban Midnight and Key Lime pie. What an excellent lunch! I need to go back there!
(5)Joey B.
Cute little cafe along the bay hence the name Aloha Bayfront Cafe. Very clean and the service is great. I just had The Cuban yummy!!!! The ice cream is amazing. Tends to be a hot spot for people coming in from the cruises in port.
(5)JD M.
Awesome find in a small town. Had the Hawaiian bleu....fantastic with the house lilikoi sauce.... Cannot beat the house Cole slaw. Great atmosphere with cold air conditioning for a hot day. Finish with bread pudding topped with Tahitian vanilla ice cream. They also provide service with a smile and great attitude. A must stop in Hilo.
(5)Kent V.
Drove from Kona to Hilo for the day and decided to stop in here for lunch after reading some of the yelp reviews and I'm glad I did! The place looked very clean and our server was super friendly. She explained everything on the menu to us thoroughly. To drink I had the Lilly koi ice tea....not too sweet or bland...just right! We ordered the soup of the day which was a split pea soup that was just made. It was sooo good! It had crumbled bacon bits on top, and wasn't as thick as other pea soups I've tried. It was really good especially because it was a little rainy on the day we came in. I then had the BLT sandwich which was tasty as well. The chips on the side were also good. The others in my party had the spinach wraps; 1 had the BLT and the other the Kahlua pork. I had a bite of each one and the wraps packed a lot of flavor and were a good size! It came with a side of coleslaw that tasted really fresh and delicious. We were so pleased by this restaurant and the food and service and recommend it to anyone visiting the Hilo area. The menu consisted of sandwiches, wraps and salad...they had many vegetarian options as well.
(5)Josh M.
Ughhh, I hate giving local businesses bad reviews, but there is also much that can be learned from them. Overall, this place is very cool with some healthy food choices, but got the 1-2 punch combo today that inspired the following disappointment: 1. Ordered the Hawaiian Blue sandwich (for take-out). Website says the sandwich is $12, but the person who picked it up for me was charged $14. People rely on your web menu to make take-out orders, so it is important that the prices jive. 2. If you are going to sell a take-out sandwich for $14, it needs to have some combination of the following: - Exceptionally good taste - Large Portion - All (or mostly) organic and healthy ingredients - Unique ingredients This sandwich sounded great on paper, but it turned out to be just a bit of a bland grilled cheese with some chicken and pineapple thrown in. It could have hit the mark had it been exceptionally good, because it definitely didn't meet the other three qualifiers... but sadly, it was just ok. Somewhat bland with decent texture. I suspect I just picked the one item on the menu that lacks, because everyone seems to rave about everything else. So hopefully this review will help the owners sharpen their pencils on this item as well as the Menu pricing discrepancy.
