This was just about as freaking good as it gets! Awesome brisket, fried corn and cole slaw...was to die for. 3,000 calories of awesome culinary delight. I highly recommend it. It was some of the best I have ever had and Jack Stack in KC, MO is about the only place I would rate higher. I will be back.

This is a great bbq place. Have not been here in eight years as we are from out of town but we knew we had to come back here and we were not let down.

Delicious! Great for catering! Staff is awesome and very easy to work with. Thanks Rossi and Chip! Your food is always excellent!

I was craving BBQ and this place was new to me. I'd heard good things so went to check it out. I had the brisket sandwich on garlic toast, and my daughter had the ribs. I have to say that overall it was just ok. Unremarkable. The ribs seemed over-smoked to me but my daughter enjoyed them. The brisket was not horrible, but I'm beginning to think I have to go to Texas for good brisket. The service was a total standout, though. The place was packed when we got there so we decided to leave. The waitress actually chased us out the door to tell us there was a table, and the other people I thought were in front of us were actually just waiting for take-out. She was friendly and nice and kept our drinks full. A+ there. I wish the food were better.

JD's BBQ is your typical BBQ place in the south. I mean it has wood paneling and everything. It even had old-fashioned license plates of all the states. I thought that was cool. They have you standard BBQ dishes from pork, chopped chicken, brisket, and others. I tried their chopped pork and chopped chicken. First, I tried their fried green tomatoes. It was very peppery. The skin seemed crispy. It wasn't bad. I think they need to go easier on the black pepper. I thought the pork was fine. It came with a bit of sauce. But they provide you with 3 sauces at the table: spicy, hot, and sweet. The difference between spicy and hot was that hot was a hotter sauce. Spicy was just mild. The sweet sauce was... sweet, just like the label said. The baked beans here are interesting. I liked it. Sure, it probably came from the can, but I loved the garlic flavor of the baked beans. I also loved the heavy-garlic flavor of the garlic toast. They seem to love their garlic here. The chopped chicken seemed dry. I needed more sauce to juice it up a bit. I was kinda disappointed. Their brunswick stew with all the liquid evaporated away. It was just a clump of brunswick stew ingredients in a thick, porridge like form. I'm not sure if I like my brunswick stew that way. I wasn't a fan. Their okra was your good, old fashioned, fried okra. There was nothing wrong with it. I liked it. Overall, I give this place 3.5 stars. The staff was nice. The food did take a while for it to come out. And the food was hit and a miss. I wouldn't mind coming back though if I was around the area.

Fantastic BBQ! This family owned business really know what they're doing when it comes to satisfying a BBQ lovers cravings. Whether it's chicken pork or brisket in a sandwich, salad or slapped on a plate with sides-you will enjoy every tender, juicy bite. My faves: pulled pork or smoked chicken sandwich and the fried pickles. Warm and welcoming staff. Cozy atmosphere. Good food and great prices. What more can you ask for? If you live in the area...lucky you! If you don't and want to venture out...you should.

Love me some bbq. JDs has some of the best bbq in town. The chopped chicken or pork is heavenly. They have excellent sides, my favs are the traditional cole slaw and baked beans. The restaurant is small so be aware. I used to get bbq and sides to go a lot more but they sky rocketed the prices of the sides so I refuse to do that any more. They have several sauces to choose from but I typically stick with the traditional one.

Smoked wings with brisket sandwich and giant glasses of Coke! Great lunch to start out the weekend. Service is always friendly and seating is comfortable. There's even a collection of rocking chairs outside if there's a wait.
(4)Tom H.
First off I love the chopped pork here. Tonight they were busy and I decided to get mine to go. BAD IDEA. I got the chopped pork plate with stew and a baked potato. The baked potato was the sorriest thing I have ever seen. It was cold. It looked at least 3 hours old... I was actually embarrassed for the owner. I have been a line cook for 20 years and I would never.. ever have served this. From now on I will just get the pork and make my own sides.

I must be getting soft in my reviews lately...this is the second 5-star review in a row. We were in Woodstock for the first day of a baseball tournament that will last through Sunday and were starving. We rolled in a bit after 5 pm and had our choice of tables in the small dining room. As we sat eating our food, there was a steady stream of customers both eating in and picking up to-go orders. We both opted for the $5 jumbo pulled pork sandwiches and planned to split the small ($4.50) order of fried pickles. The sandwiches are humongous. I'm perhaps not very skilled at estimating how much a heap of pulled pork might weigh, but I'd bet that there was at least 12 ounces of it on each bun and maybe as much as a pound. The pork was moist, flavorful, and not acridly and overly smoky. The same sandwich--if you could find a comparably-loaded one--closer to or in Atlanta would cost double the $5 and taste half as good. The fried pickles were a smidgen over-done, but not too done. They had a thin and crispy batter that complemented the vinegary dill taste of the cuke chips. We would up leaving about half of the order on the table because we were both sated to the point of being miserable. The order arrived with two plastic to-go containers of ranch dressing and a container of some orange, thick, spicy dipping sauce. Both were delicious. I ate only the "hot" barbecue sauce, which was thinish and slightly vinegary, with a strong black pepper flavor. I didn't find it to be very hot, but my tolerance for such things is fairly high. There are squirt bottles of three sauces on each table...sweet, spicy, and hot. I'd imagine that all are very good. Fountain Coke products and tea are offered. They'll give you a giant to-go cup of your preferred beverage for no charge after you eat, which is a nice bonus. Our waitress (server? I can't keep up with the P.C. terms for everything that offends special snowflakes these days) was personable and helpful. Small parking lot and the traffic on Bells Ferry was chaotic by the time that we departed. If you hang a right and drive a short distance to the traffic light, you can do a U-turn and short circuit that crap. We'll likely hit J.D.'s again in the next three days of the baseball tournament...it was that good. It's quite a mule trek from Roswell, but if you are in the area, you could do worse than stopping by and getting a massive pile of pork on a bun for $5.

What an awesome find after hanging out at Red Top Mountain Park! We were craving BBQ and couldn't have found a better place to quench that craving. After heading south out of Red Top Mountain to go the "back way", I search for restaurants in the area and up popped JDs. Thanks Yelp! I had the "ton of meat" plate with chopped pork and ribs, baked beans and Brunswick stew. Man, it was all awesome! I don't know what JD does to his baked beans, but I seriously don't think I've had better. The Brunswick stew was also very good. And then there was the pork... excellent meat with plenty on the bone for the ribs. It was a great combination. Since it was Father's Day, JD's also bundled in a free desert so I chose the 'nanner puddin'. And, since I was stuffed, I took it home and had it later that evening. Excellent! When I'm in the area again, I will definitely return to try the brisket and other Q-meat.
(5)Jack W.
Always friendly service and the best brisket around! Make sure to get it on the garlic toast. Slap yo mama good!!!
(5)Kristen K.
Their ribs are to die for!! I love their banana pudding!! Our order is always ready super fast, and always correct!
(4)Anissa S.
Chopped pork sandwich was good. Cowboy fries were ok, just chopped chicken (or pork) and cheese on fries - they needed a little more meat. The chopped pork sandwich was big and the pork was good. It was slightly dry but the spicy barbecue sauces fixed that problem. I'll be back just for the pulled pork sandwich. Drinks are pricy - $2.25 for a drink is a little much even with free refills.
(3)Lily S.
Always friendly service. The barbecue is pretty typical and nothing was extraordinary but it's nice to have a BBQ option right down the street.
(4)Kc M.
Stick with the pulled pork and you will be okay. Baby back ribs are always over smoked and bbq chicken is always bloody next to the bone. Staff is mostly kids, I'm not sure anyone on the pit knows much about bbq. My shop talk with the kid working the smoker led to a lot of "i dont knows" and " i am not sures". Sides are all good, fried pickles are great so is banana pudding.
(2)Alisha D.
Ate here while visiting family. Decent smoked meat with sides that were not homemade. If you want to eat here, I'd suggest getting your main to-go and making your own sides at home.
(3)Melissa N.
I'm in love with their sauce. Even when we order to go I stop by a table and add a little more before we leave. The fried okra isn't soggy or overcooked, nice and crispy and not too salty. The potato salad is good as well. But the ribs... oh the ribs. Heavenly. By far the best bbq joint in this area. Don't forget the sweet tea!
(5)Chris W.
As my friends will attest... I am a BBQ fanatic! This place is not far at all from me and I eat there often. The ribs are just fantastic and the smoke is just right. Only one time have I ever had a "blah meal" from there...and that one time the ribs were a bit dry. Every other time they're cooked just perfectly. You also have to try the smoked rings and fried corn on the cob when it's in season.
(4)Toni B.
The only positive thing I can really say is the service was very good. The chicken and pork were nothing to write home about. Potato salad and cole slaw looked and tasted like they were purchased from Kroger or Walmart. Beans were boring.
(2)Tom N.
Super tiny inside be prepared to wait. Everyone workers and guests are wicked nice. Ok so there really are like 10-15 tables inside probably closer to 10. So seriously you may have to wait. There was also only one waitress when we came so waiting for refills was a bit of a problem but not like some of the nightmares I have experienced. My ribs came out quickly and really did fall right off the bone. My girlfriends (at the time) pulled pork sandwich was a bit dry but there was a lot of it. The provided sauces were ok but not enough options. BBQ places live and die by their sauces and I just wasn't impressed with the options. I am still going to give this place a full 4 stars as my ribs were fantastic the staff was super friendly and the prices are fair. I do wish they had wifi...
(4)Adam K.
This is a convenient bbq place for my family and me. I tend to get the pulled pork sandwich or ribs...sometimes ill get the smoked hamburger. The food is good..but not outstanding. There is so much competition in the area. The bill starts to add . Service is always friendly and prompt. The only complaint I have is the overall cleanliness of the restaurant...I realize this is a small bbq joint which is why we usually look past the carpet in the dining area which tends to collect food debris. Tile would work better for easy clean up. Makes me think what the food prep area in the back is like. I've glanced through the window and it ain't granny's kitchen floor. Management should take note. Other than that..you should try it.
(3)Mick D.
Now THAT is barbecue with character. I had a smoked chicken sandwich with some slaw, and some baked beans. The sandwich was the first thing that surprised me. I mean, I don't meet that many folks who get imaginative with barbecuing / smoking their chicken. It tends to be a pretty straightforward affair. But these folks are doing something different. I'm not sure what it is. Maybe they sang to their chickens. Maybe it's pre-grilled a little with some spices or something. Maybe it's a marinade, or the wood they're using. Whatever it is, this sandwich did seem to stand apart from others I've had. There are two sauces on the table: one sweet, and one spicy. Both are equally good. The spicy has a good, mild burn that doesn't make you require a fire-hose to extinguish. And the sweet sauce is not cloyingly sweet or vinegary or overpowered with tomatoes. It's just good. The slaw was the perfect accompaniment to my sandwich, and I should have piled some of the slaw ON the sandwich. I was very pleasantly surprised to find the baked beans were chock full of minced-garlic goodness. One doesn't normally expect garlicky baked beans, but this was a good surprise. My gf also had some fried okra. The fried okra was a hit. It wasn't mushy at all. And whatever they're doing to the batter is just right. This is what fried okra is supposed to be. The prices are reasonable. Service is fast and friendly. The building is small-ish, and I imagine it can get quite busy during the weekends. While we were there, they seemed to do quite a bit of take-out business. I will be back to try the brisket. And I might also have to be decadent and have some dessert next time. Holler if you're coming with.
(5)Valerie D.
This place knows BBQ. I still maintain it's the best BBQ in Atlanta. Food is always great and the girls that work there are really friendly! We go here about once a week. Some of our favorites are the 1/2 smoked chicken, the ribs, and their spuds! Their BBQ is from the heavens. I prefer the sweet, boyfriend likes the spicy. Also the brunswick stew is to die for.
(5)John G.
Love the place and DO TRY the brisket, the only thing that needs improvement are the fries. Wings and the rib sandwich are terrific as well as the Fried Corn!!!! Wish they would try some few things original to match the entrees, frozen stuff doesn't match the great level of the meat here. Would love if they opened up the deserts also - Fried Twinkies I miss from the old location when they were by the old mini-mart years ago.
(4)Ronnie E.
Had some fried pickles to start (4Square user mentioned they were salty, but I didn't believe that anyone can over salt fried pickles) and whew, those things were extra salty. It was a big portion of fried pickles, with what I think was ranch, but the saltiness just ruined the whole batch; didn't even finish the basket. On to the meat, I had some brisket and pulled pork (slaw and onion rings). The brisket was dry and barely any smoke flavor to it, but the pulled pork was a little more juicier and flavorful. The sauces were good, pretty much the norm you would say at any other establishment. Probably will not go back to this place, but decent pulled pork here.
(2)Michael P.
Ordered for carry out for a family function. Food was ready on time and was excellent. While the sauce was great, the wings stole the show. They were outstanding. Potato salad gets a C grade at best. Everything else was great!
(3)Nawin N.
Service was poor and food was not as good as I had heard. I wanted to buy a large amount of ribs and brisket and they said they could only sell a limited amount of their stock without any explanation.
(1)Brandon W.
My favorite BBQ place! Their brisket sandwich and fried corn is the best I've ever had! I always compare my BBQ to this place!
(5)Krud D.
great smoked chicken wings and close to the lake.. I have stopped by JD's a couple of times and got a mess of those wings and taken them out on the boat for a day of fishing and they really hit the spot! Plus the fish like the pile of bones that I throw near shore!
(4)Pete K.
don't judge the outside. great tasting smoke Barbeque I will definitely come back
(5)Danielle E.
JD's catered my wedding... It was the lowest bid of the 4 places I went to, and when it came taste test time, it was delicious! The did steak, chicken and sides and it was awesome! Would recommend their catering to anyone.
(5)Ben P.
Tonight was my third time there. The first time the brisket was almost room temperature, but had a decent taste. The beans didn't agree with my stomach. The second time the pork sandwich was good, but again like the brisket was barely warm.I ordered a regular smoked chicken sandwich.Maybe there is something I don't know, but I prefer my food to be warm. The fries were hot but were way to salty.I stopped there again tonight and had a jumbo smoked chicken sandwich.Yep,you guessed it,room temperature chicken again and just a little undercooked. And extra salty fries to go with the chicken sandwich.I didn't order anything else.I have decided not to go back because when I mentioned the temperature of the half eaten sandwich to the pretty girl as I was paying, her response was "yeah, the guys in the back are slacking." Shelby and the girl at the register tonight are friendly and pretty girls, but I don't eat at Hooters for the reason that good food should draw customers to a restaraunt, not pretty girls. The pretty girls would just be a plus.
(2)Scott H.
It was passable but nothing mind blowing. We had smoked wings, ribs, pork sandwich, fries, corn and Brunswick stew. Served on paper plates. Everything was disposable. Server was friendly and attentive. It's just a hole in the wall. I dunno.... wish I had more to report here. Overall this was just mediocre BBQ for me. Fox Bros is the best I can think of right now.
(3)Herman W.
Great service! Allowed me to sample the stew & I liked it, but the corn flavor was a little over that top. BBQ pork was moist, flavorful, & good. Sauce accompanying it worked great with the meat. Brisket had good smoke & flavor, but had dried a bit by the time it got to us. Beans were heavy with garlic, but passable. Slaw was a good match for the 'que. I'll go here when in the area, but not up for a drive.
(4)D N.
i Loove this place! Soo much that i hired them to cater my wedding, and what a hit they were! The food was amazing, service was excellent, and they were all so courteous and friendly to my friends and family!! My husband and i have been eating there for years and they take pride in their BBQ! The catering they offer is more than BBQ as well which was great. I would definitely recommend them for your next event, or to just stop in for lunch!
(5)Mark S.
Look, I go to BBQ for the meat. It is all about the meat. JD's knows how to slow smoke meat. They are very good at it. It is consistent and it is VERY VERY good. Some meats are better that others though, so here is my run down on what I have tried so far and the individual ratings of each. 1: Beef Brisket: 5 stars. This is the best meat they serve at JD's hands down. People screw up beef brisket all the time. Obviously JD is smart enough to keep a good size fat cap on the brisket and slow smoke it for hours. Comes out tender, juicy and has a perfect smoke ring on the outside of the meat. 2: Pulled Pork: 5 stars. Close second to the brisket. Not sure if they use shoulder or butt, it is just freaking good. I used the spicy sauce when consuming it. Will review the sauces below. 3: Chicken: 3.5 stars. It is good, but can get a little on the dry side occasionally. Chicken is tough to on a long smoke, but they do a good enough job that I order it. 4: Chicken wings: 2.5 stars. They are smoked, but a little on the salty side. I got mine plain, no flavoring which might have been the issue. Smoking wings is not easy, they just dry out so orders yours with the sauce and let me know how they taste. Have yet to try the ribs, so no review yet. Sauces Two sauces at JD's, sweet and spicy. Sweet: 3.5 stars. Not bad, it is not KC style uber brown sugar sweet, just enough. I am just not that much of a sweet sauce guy so I would take my opinion on this worth a grain of salt. Spicy: 4 stars. It is fairly good, with red pepper flakes giving it its kick. I would like a little more vinegar in the sauce, but it is good enough. You don't really need sauce on the brisket anyway, so it really doesn't matter. BBQ sauce should be a condiment, NOT a requirement. Side dishes are average, nothing to rave about there. Brunswick stew is pretty average along with coleslaw and potato salad. Fries are decent with the healthy dose of seasoning salt they receive. Best BBQ in this neck of the woods.
(4)Jerry C.
Lunch today. If they had beer, I would return. I had a chopped pork plate. My only complaint was that the fries were under cooked. OK now, the baked beans were good but the pork- oh my God the pork was succulent, smokey, moist and incredible. I had the hot sauce and was off the hook. I didn't even care about the undercooked fries. Great service too. I drank water. Sigh.
(4)Jeramie D.
OK, so I love BBQ. Just wanted to get that disclaimer out there. I had found a place in Woodstock which had really good pork. Then another place opened and they had great ribs 99% of the time, and the pork was pretty good, however the brisket was just alright. So I heard about JD's and thought I would give it a go. I really like small family style places where you can tell they really love cooking whatever it is they cook. This place only has about 10 tables or so, but the smell when you go inside is great. Really friendly staff, a first come seat yourself place. I went with the ribs/brisket as I love both, so it was only fitting I give them both a try. The ribs were really good. Fall off the bone but not over smoked. They were still juicy. Then I tasted the Brisket!!! It was unreal! The flavor of the smoke and the bark was great, mixed with the juiciness of the meat and just the perfect amount of marbled fat. My mouth is watering now just thinking about it. I can't wait to go back and take a few other BBQ lovers there. I have eaten my fair share of BBQ from all over the state as well as many other states, and this is the best I have had so far. Next time I will do either pork/brisket or chicken/brisket, but I can't wait to go back next week.
(5)Matt T.
Been comin here for years and never had a bad meal. Everything on the menu is great.
(5)Jason T.
Just "ok"... Brisket was decent. Fried pickles were not that good. If you want good BBQ try 1. Dave Poe's BBQ (Marietta), 2. BubbaQ (Woodstock) or 3. Bar-B-Cutie (acworth NOT Woodstock).
(1)Steve B.
I really like JD's. A very simple, down-home place. Paper plates and plastic forks, HOWEVER, the BBQ is AWESOME! The staff and service is great. You'll feel right at home. I generally order the "pulled pork" plate and select Brunswick stew and baked beans as my two sides. If there is any downside, the portions are totally adequate but, not overly generous. However 90% will leave very well fed. The taste of the food makes it all worth while. I totally recommend JD's.
(4)Kelly W.
Good BBQ! I was in town visiting my boyfriend and we decided to try this place. There is plenty of parking out front. Upon entering this mom and pop type place, the waitresses were very friendly and seat you immediately. We did a little research on this place before going and found out that you can actually sample EVERYTHING on the menu before ordering it (no charge for the samples). How awesome is that? We tried the fried pickles and the coleslaw. Both were good! The coleslaw was creamy and almost tastes like KFC's except better! The fried pickles were good and we decided to order a half size of the pickles for an appetizer. The half size of the fried pickles was HUGE. It could easily feed a group of 4 or 5 people. We discovered after a few pickles that they are a bit salty. I ordered the pulled pork plate with baked beans and the Brunswick Stew. My boyfriend ordered the two meat plate with chicken and pork along with fried corn and coleslaw. The portions are huge and well worth the money! The pork was mouthwateringly good. The chicken was ok at best. The skin did not taste very good and the meat was juicy but just tasted like chicken, nothing special. I would not recommend getting the chicken if you want a true bbq flavor. The beans are really good. I was not a fan of the stew and would not recommend it unless you happen to love Brunswick stew. The fried corn was tasty and sweet. It wasn't what I had expected, which wasn't much since what is fried corn anyway? They basically dip the corn in the fryer for a minute and it creates a slightly crisp outer layer on the outside and the juicy corn kernels are on the inside. It was delicious! They also have their own homemade sauces:sweet and spicy. Combined made for a perfect sauce for the meat. Not that it needed anything. We had so much leftover, it made for two meals later. The meat is even better the next day ;) What are you waiting for? Give it a try!

JD's is a fantastic, underrated (or not even rated), overlooked gem in Woodstock near Hobgood Park. I've been there for lunch several times. This place is popular and maybe the locals don't want you to know about it. Well, I used to be a local and love BBQ and have to give props to those deserving. The city of Woodstock is filled with chain restaurants (but getting better) and a nice little local joint like this justifies the ridiculous development of prototypical home after home on a golf course that is Towne Lake. I love JD's. The owner is great. He is right there in the action, helping to serve, cleanup, whatever it takes to keep the business moving. I go for their combo plates and choose ribs and pulled pork. Haven't tried the brisket (did not learn about brisket until after living out west). Their sauces are fantastic. They have specials. They even have great coupons available on their website. Avoid the chair BBQ restaurants of Woodstock and the metro area for that matter and go here. You will not be disappointed.
(4)Crystal K.
Trying to cut out fried food as much as possible, but this place makes it nearly impossible. Two words. FRIED CORN. Need I say more? (The rest of the food is good too!)
(5)Ron P.
Last Saturday I had one of the best BBQ Pork sandwiches at JDs. Even though they were prepping for a huge 7th Anniversary of their opening, they still had time to be pleasant and give great service. This was our first visit but won't be our last.
(5)Daniel G.
So, I went back to JD's for the second time last night--again between softball games at nearby Hobgood Park. I had the brisket sandwich and fries. First, the brisket, the perfect balance of smokey, tender meat and a perfect bark. Since this was a quick trip with a few friends, I didn't get a meal, just got fries on the side. "But fries, why?" Because they have decent fries, but more importantly, I get to slather them in their very simple, but delicious sauce. Tomato based, a little vinegar and spice, but not overdone. They wait staff (mostly recent high school grads) are attentive. When she saw that all three of us still had on our softball uniforms, found out we had a game in a few minutes, she brought us HUGE to go cups of sweet tea. Now, that's living. I'll keep going back!
(4)Benjamin T.
The food here is awesome. The wings from smoked to hot are all good. They make incredible wings. The sides are great, I enjoyed good baked beans and coleslaw done right. The BBQ is great. If you want good BBQ come here. It's a small local BBQ in Woodstock, do not expect a franchise with flashing lights and such. This is your local BBQ joint with paper towels next to you. Good eating does not require flashy lights. Great BBQ for a decent price.
(4)Gary T.
I liked this place when we visited recently although I am seriously prejudiced towards spare ribs and this fine establishment serves babyback ribs. Having said that...they did a real good job on them. I couldn't quite identify what they cooked the ribs with to give it the flavor that it had. Obviously, they were cooked with wood, I don't know what kind of wood though. The ribs were very tender and had a smoky, savory kind of flavor to them without going so far as to be called spicy. The sides were pretty good, I had potato salad and French fries...their potato salad is pretty good. Their sauce was pretty good although I don't remember anything distinctive about it. The service was good, the young lady that served us was real nice. I would recommend this place to anyone and I know I'll be back.....since my wife loved this place even more than I did,LOL.
(3)Catherine P.
I like this place! Can't believe I am giving a bbq place 5 stars b/c I am not a big bbq eater! The beef brisket is wonderful, as are their wings. Friendly staff that will take time to chat with you. Plus they have some good sides to choose from like a side salad or onion wings. Refreshing sweet tea.......what else do you need? Ok maybe some mac and cheese and some collard greens, but I understand they are working on adding that to the menu :)
(5)Nikki D.
This is some great BBQ! This place has many trohies around. Once you try the food you understand why there are trophies all around.
(5)Don B.
I haven't been inside yet...only second hand delivery. Good sauce and MEAT!!!
(4)Cary B.
How the hell is jds still around? Beef brisket used to be great, now it just stinks and is tougher than it used to be. If you want que avoid this place.
(1)Jessica H.
JD's barbecue is absolutely wonderful my family and i eat there almost every week .... we are a family of three and their three meat plate feeds all three of us we always get 2 pulled pork and 1 brisket, baked beans and corn, everything that i just mentioned is awesome i would say some of the best things on the menu and the sweet barbecue sauce is amazing :) the ribs are great also !!! and the smoked chicken wings are really good to and the friend chicken fingers are great because the are fresh like your mom would make not frozen crap the atmosphere in this place is amazing ... hands down the best barbecue in Woodstock .....i would go as far as to say one of the best in Georgia
(5)Dave S.
I've been back three times now in as many months, and I live in Buckhead. It's that good - I'll drive an hour for this bbq once a month. Oh, and Yelp - your filter blocked my review of my first visit. Thanks for screwing over a great family business with a great product. Amending the verbiage a bit and trying again now that I've been back two more times, because this place deserves recognition. Block me again and I'll send you the receipts from my visits just to prove I'm for real - jerks. Get the brisket, get the ribs, and a pork sandwich. Forget about the sides - they're OK but not special - the onion rings are a solid choice here. You'll want to save all the room you've got for those impossibly tender morsels of beef and pork. The smoke flavor is distinct, but not overwhelming - and the sauces are both delicious. The ribs, to be specific, are fall-off-the-bone tender, not fatty at all, with a bright beautiful smokey pink through-and-through. They were slightly less perfect on visit two (but still excellent), and then right back up to par on visit three. Consistency is always a *good thing*. The brisket is flavorful and wildly tender. This is coming from someone who travels for a living, and has sampled brisket in the heart of Texas, which is serious brisket country... The pulled pork sandwich is meat candy. Seriously, that good. I am assuming the banana pudding must be good, too, since I have been there three times and each time it's been sold out. That or they only make a very small amount at a time. In any case, I'm usually too full of meat to enjoy it anyway.

If you want good BBQ then JD's is your place. I love chopped pork sandwiches and their smoked pork is awesome. I always get mine with Cole slaw on the sandwich...um um good! Their chicken and ribs are good too but give me the smoked pork. I just finished one of their sandwiches, and If I didn't have to work, I'd be heading back for seconds.
