El Cazador has been our friends' choice for the Sunday post-church meal for the last two years I've tried most things on the menu and haven't been extremely impressed nor disappointed. For lunch, I always recommend the Arroz Texano with added peppers and onions (free of charge). It is really good and affordable. The quality of the servers varies per visit. Most of the time we get good service! Although, there are better, more traditional Mexican restaurants in town, El Cazador is pretty good!

Great services. Nice vibe. Clean. Reasonable portions. Vegetarian options. Best mexican food in town. I'll be back. Yum!

The best of the crappy Mexican places in Valdosta. They're fast and cheap... but still not nearly as tasty as Cactus Flower. Chips were delicious though, service was attentive, and they accommodated our large lunch group well. But at the end of the day, it's another Mexican place that serves mediocre food in different combinations of unseasoned meat, refried beans, cheap cheese, and flour tortillas.

Great food every time I've ordered from there wether is to go or to dine in. Clean establishment friendly service. Last time I was there we ordered cheese dip with our chips and when the waiter brought it he told us we would t be charged because he took too long but honestly he brought it out very quickly and we had no problem with the time it took to serve us.

The food is ok, but let's not mince words: this restaurant wouldn't last a year in Atlanta or Jacksonville. It takes too damn long to get food, especially takeout orders. And the women that work the front desk show about as much interest or concern as dmv workers.

I love their food. My favorite is the chimichanga with rice and beans. However the service is shaky. Some days the service is ok, and sometimes it's like a goos handful of the staff is having a bad day. Even though I never know what service I'll get when I walk in, the food is good enough for me to keep going back.

Just not sure about this place. Had several people talk about how they go there all the time. We walked in and we were seated by a wall mural of a naked woman bathing with a horse in a pond... Well the next 30 min was answering questions from my three boys about why and what the heck was up with that painting. Chips good. Meal comes out and seemed to be covered in a cream based cheese sauce that I wasn't a fan of. Maybe I am just used to Rodeo, maybe it's just easier not to have to explain a naked woman and a horse swimming..

This was the rudest, slowest service I ever had. We had a large heavyset server who was super slow and unfriendly. When it came time for us to check out, we waited 15 minutes just for him to give us the check. Finally, after waiting another 10, I walked to the front to pay with the cashier. She didn't even look at me and say one word. Very rude service. Also, I told the server thank you numerous times and he just ignored me. What horrible customer service. This is the last time I would ever come back to this rude place.

I am still in shock by the customer service. Two friends and I were craving Mexican food and decided to stop by and eat here. The parking lot was packed, but that didn't deter us since we were okay with waiting. Well we stepped into the restaurant and it was a full house. At least 10 employees were on the floor and my friends and I stood and waited a few minutes. We made eye contact with them and tried to talk to them and NO ONE acknowledged that we were even there! We waited a few more minutes then just left. They get 1 star for terrible customer service. It's not that hard to say "it will be a few minutes until we can seat you". Besides I'm sure the service reflects the quality of the food. I'll pass.

This place really surprised us. My boyfriend is not a huge fan of Mexican cuisine but the reviews are great on this restaurant so we gave it a try. He had the Burrito Veracruz and I had the Pollo Veracruz. They both share the same creamy chipotle sauce which is to die for. Both dishes are amazing. I was surprised that I even loved his Burrito Veracruz because I find most places butcher seafood burritos. Their sweet tea was delicious as was there queso with chorizo. I highly recommend this place and will definitely go back! if you are looking for non cookie cutter Mexican food try this place!

Please understand that this review is being written from a slightly inebriated state. The margaritas from El Cazador have directly influenced the content of this review. Order the Texas margarita. Order it. Holy crap. Valdosta has an issue with Sunday - none of the boutique "good" restaurants are open on Sunday. I called them all - I checked, trust me on this one. They simply aren't open. We don't know why. Trying to go on a date with my wife while we visited her family we eventually ended up at El Cazador as a default to everything else being closed. The waitress came to our table and asked us if she could tempt us with a two dollar margarita. Being from Atlanta where margaritas are normally eight to ten dollars I was naturally suspect of the offer -- surely there'd be no alcohol in that. I asked, instead, for a texas margarita. The waitress told me that'd be a whole five dollars and surely I'd rather have the two buck one. Even then, a five dollar one is cheaper than the normal Atlanta fare so I stuck to my texas order and assumed the worst. While waiting for the margarita I perused the hundreds (okay, maybe not hundreds, but certainly an abnormal amount) of menu choices and ordered #27 - tamale, burrito and chile relleno. The margarita came out and I was pretty tipsy the rest of the evening. I cannot believe the amount of alcohol present in the wine-glass sized drink. Seriously. This knocked me on my ass. Later in the meal I ordered a two buck margarita and the waitress asked me how they compared. I mentioned the amount of alcohol in the first one I ordered and she said, "Yes, that's what texas means here - lots of alcohol." Okat then. Order a texas margarita. I honestly have no idea if my food tasted good. I scarfed it and couldn't taste much. My wife ordered taquitos and she said they were very good. Our waitress was very nice and the service was good. This is our new "mexican place in valdosta" to go to when we're in town.

I would say the best place in Valdosta for Mexican cuisine. I use to have another favorite until I tried this place. Really good lunch deals with the make your own plate by choosing four items ! Yes ! I said four items for $4.99. Can't beat that. Great service as well !!

Outside of the southwestern part of the United States I generally have low expectations for what constitutes "mexican" food. I ordered the carne asada tacos and a margarita. Tacos were not great, but not bad either. Beans and rice were meh. Margarita was serviceable. Food came out very quickly so there's not a lot of cooking "fresh" going on in the kitchen.

Great, cheap lunch. My husband and I stopped here on a whim for lunch and we are glad we did! I had the lunch fajitas and they were perfectly seasoned and delicious. The refried beans and salsa were also very good. Give this place a try, you will not be disappointed!

Quick pit stop during my visit to Valdosta State University. This restaurant was located close (driving distance) to campus. I love margaritas so we stopped. Food: American Mexican fare that was not really tasty. It was bland and came out quicker than taco bell. If service time tells you anything than you know that the meat was already cooked they just slapped some enchilada sauce on a burrito and microwaved the cheese. The salsa was pretty OK. I'm not sure if it was homemade. Margaritas: We ordered a pitcher of Texan Margarita. It was OK but ask for little to no ice. Major bummer having your drink watered down by 3 million ice cubes. Service: Taco Bell fast.... But this is not a compliment. Cleanliness: Being that only 4 tables were occupied at 3p why were there so many dirty tables??? I saw two bus boys and two waitresses. I'm not sure why tip money, dirty dishes and a broom were in plain sight. I'm not sure what Valdosta has to offer for Mexican food but I would choose another place. Thanks GPS for the suggestion. *sigh*

We love this restaurant! We tried all the Mexican restaurants in the area and this is the best. The food is authentic, flavorful and adequately spicey. The prices are very reasonable- the staff are always courteous and friendly and the food always comes out fresh and hot. Their guacamole is as good as mine- and we are very picky. We try a different menu item each visit and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is casual and can get crowded but otherwise no complaints. Worth the trip- far better then Rodeo and El Toreo with much better value. They also make a mean margarita :0).

They have a military discount which is always a plus. I read a review stating that the food comes out really fast and they were surprisingly right. I ordered a burrito supreme I believe, and it was out in probably under 5 minutes. This isn't always good though, some commented that the food is pre made and nuked. Which is possible, but it was still good. I was satisfied with my experience, but other than the speed of getting my food, it didn't stand out a both other Mexican restaurants in town.

Good food nice establishment but my waiter was probably the biggest prick I have ever met. He accused me of stealing. He got the tickets mixed up. He was rude to me and my party countless timesHe also cursed at me. It was almost like he was cutting up with close friends but it came of dickish. Do not go there unless you want to be pissed off the whole time. We sat outside and it took 1 1/2 hours to order food because the waiter took so long to check on us. He was the manager to so that tells me a lot about the establishment. Not an enjoyable evening.

This is the best it gets as far as Mexican food in Valdosta. Our server was really great: quick, friendly, and professional. It was pretty crowded for dinner last night and the staff was nice for putting up with our large party including kids running all over the place. The prices are not bad. This place is 10 times better AND more authentic than Sur. I'd come here again for sure.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
