Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

Fast-food restaurants like Pizza Hut are not recommended to dine-in if you are diagnosed with high blood pressure. High Cholesterol at Pizza Hut

Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. If you're concerned with your high cholesterol, then it is wise to take your friends to Pizza Hut and share pizza among them slice by slice. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

Great food. Best calzones in town. Super service! I love the way they make me feel when I come in. They really care about me and my satisfaction. They strike a great balance between speed and quality of food.

Good food, poor service. The Server who was working the bar area this afternoon was overwhelmed and non attentive. I had to request things more than once...not good. Please keep Katie, Justin, Coop and Brian in the bar area only!

This used to be my favorite place to stop and get a slice but the customer service has gone down hill and tonite I ordered 2 slices to go and in the middle of my double cheese slice I bit down on a 3 inch piece of wire! I called to speak to the manager and can you believe he couldn't be bothered to come to the phone! Well. .. He just lost a customer but more than that, he's lost my respect as a business owner!

Good place for pizza. The ingredients taste fresh and they have pizza condiments at the table such as oregano, Parmesan cheese, red pepper, etc. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because restrooms were not presentable, so try to avoid using the restrooms. The place could also work a little better on improving its atmosphere.

  • Laura Lu M.

Yum! This pizza is great! Great toppings and crust! I can't say anything about table service, we got it to go... It was ready in 20 minutes just like they said on a busy night.

  • Mike F.

Had the calzone......so good! Didn't try anything else, but everyone else's pizza looked really good also. A bit dated inside, but I was there for the food not the décor :)

Great Pizza! The veggie pizza was AWESOME! Delicious toppings and numerous to choose from. You can eat in or take out, and take it is faster than any other chain (i.e. Papa Johns, Pizza Hut). Only downfall is the location, highway 78 is super busy and this location is a little inconvenient to get to.

  • Jerilynae P.

They have the worst hostess ever. He said you see that table in the corner (pointing), ya'll can sit there and went back and sat down. Horrible. It took 15 minutes for the server/bartender to get to us. A few people walked out, but we weren't rushing. But once he came over, he apologized for the wait, we ordered our food and drinks at the same time and it was cool from there. Not excellent, but okay service. The pizza is amazing as always!

  • C W.

Recently had a family get together at this location. Food was great, service somewhat slow but for a family place we didnt complain. What was upsetting was the appearance of the wait staff. I don't have a problem with not wearing uniforms but please, don't serve our food in basketball shorts, that doesn't seem sanitary. And wearing a basketball cap with your hair sticking out, made my nephew ask why he couldn't wear his hat in the restaurant. Appearance makes a difference and this place could step it up a bit!

This used to be my favorite pizza joint, but after my kids and I got Montezuma's revenge I will not visit this establishment again. My son has cancer and the last ting he needed was to have diarrhea.

This is a bit of a hard review to write. We have always LOVED Stone Mtn Pizza Cafe. We've been coming here since it was located in the shopping strip next to Old Navy. The pizza is my all-time favorite pizza, an the marinara sauce and pretzels are sooo good. Tonight the pizza and food was great, as always, but the service was pretty bad. Our server (not sure of his name, he had a Mohawk) was a little short with us. I assume that's because they were really busy. But the food took forever and our glasses sat empty for a while. If it was the kitchen's fault (who knows), he could have apologized or at least made a point to acknowledge it. When we were waiting for our check, he said he would be right back with it, and he stopped and talked to a table of people that he clearly knew. At that point, we were already ready to go, so that was a little annoying. We waited for a little longer and walked up to the cashier for our check --she was really friendly and nice. We will always come back, but I just thought we would share the not-so-great server experience. PS- please add an email address to your site so people can just email you privately instead of writing bad-ish reviews. Thanks!! :)

Pizza Cafe is a mixed bag. On the one hand they have great pizza and pretzels at a great price. This is typically a once a week deal for us and you don't need more than a slice to get your fill. Dining in though is a another story. The food is still awesome but you are definitely rolling the dice with service. On the whole service remains slow with refills hard to come by. There are a few gems though. Elise the former bartender was one of the best ever and Jared in the kitchen is always friendly and sometimes fills in behind the bar. This will always be a regular spot just wish the service always matched the food.

This is an incredible pizza joint right outside of Stone Mountain park. It is accessible, and has lots of seating for larger groups. The beer selection is mostly domestic, but the pricing is great. What really shines is the food. The pretzel knots are so soft and they toss it with garlic butter, and serve it with a side of fresh, warm marinara. This is really just a build up to the pizza though which is some of the best I have ever had. Attentive service, and great prices make this a must try.

I go for lunch and although I think it could use a face lift the foods amazing. I usually get a slice & side salad. Today I tried the Veggie Sub & it's AMAZING. It was carry out and the young lady who answered was very nice. I can't say I've ever had a customer service issue. I have now learned about there Lunch specials which make it affordable because I am cheap with my lunch budget!

    (4)
  • Jennifer I.

Their pizza is amazing, and so are the hot subs. The decor is kinda boring, and the service really stinks sometimes, but it's worth it.

We used to frequent this restaurant regularly for trivia, but the service got worse and worse (with a server eventually giving us attitude when we asked about food that never arrived, and telling us that we were mistaken. Excuse me?), and it eventually became a game of Russian roulette as to who was going to get sick from the food each week. I won't be going back.

It's really hard to rate pizza being a native of New Haven, CT, home of the best pizza ever. But I'll try. Stone Mountain Pizza Cafe is one of the few places that I frequent because it's consistent and the pizza is pretty decent. The problem with a lot of places in the Atlanta area is that you never know what you're gonna get. This place gets it right every time. We usually get it to go, but dining is pretty fun. They have lots of tvs and it's a very relaxing, fun place to hang out. The menu has something for everyone. I've had a few of their sandwiches and calzones which were all solid. Try the pretzels for a really yummy treat!!

Pretty good pizza here. Nice attention to detail. They have a good menu with your typical items (wings, salads, etc.). They have an excellent white pizza as well. Worth the drive from ITP. They have a full bar and your typical beer choices with a couple of crafts here and there. Family friendly but not bouncing off the wall with kids. Staff is usually really great. For me, this place is better than Mellow Mushroom or Fellini's. The also have a store closer to me called the Avondale Pizza Cafe.

    (4)
  • K M.

Love this place!! Large dining area and plenty of seating at the bar as well. The pizza here is delicious. I like the crust here better than the Avondale location. Beer selection is always good as well. The staff is always very nice and fast (with the exception of one mohawked waiter). Who clearly thinks socializing with his friends is more important than his job. But I just avoid sitting in his section and that solves that.

  • Brenda M.

We have been here about 5 times. Decor and ambience could be better. Also, skip the mozzarella sticks, you could do better with the frozen variety at home. What stands out is the pizza and drinks. I think they pride themselves on the drinks since it is someone else that brings it to you from the bar. The salads are also large. I like it that they have all the pizza toppings that you can think of on the table already.

Gotta be honest, we order from here (take out) a couple of times every month. Tonight was no different...it doesn't matter WHO takes the order the kitchen routinely messes it up. Quite simple really, substitute this ingredient for those ingredients. They have gotten it right once in the past 18 months. Tonight the manager tells me this is how it is, and I have to accept it....really? Then the cook comes over and says he 'watched' it being made. I walked out but let the 'cashier' know it wasn't acceptable and to please inform the owner. I'll never hear from them obviously. Yeah, I'm a little pissed at the customer service right now...one time would be ok, but most times? We love NY style pizza, just wish this joint do a better job.

Love love love this place. Sometimes the servers are. Eh.. But its perfect for a saturday afternoon lunch. Both the wings and pizza are amazing.

I only come here for their pretzels but the service is always iffy. One time being waiter decide to tip himself a few extra bucks then when I left him however I got that resolved with the manager. The food is good but probably paying with cash

Calzones a delicious. Not to doughy. The mozzerella pretzel was ok, could have used more garlic. Definitely a place to go again

We are fans, but the service can be really slow sometimes. Not sure why - service personalities are great, but OFTEN, people seated after us get served before us - we ordered appetizers, they ordered specialty pizzas...not sure how or why that happens. Salads used to be bigger and more dark green...now they are smaller and light green (cheaper lettuce). Wished they had more vegetarian/vegan options. Otherwise, my rating would be higher. The pizza, pasta, and beer are great. Outstanding Tiramisu.

Love it! The slices of pizza are huge and our waiter is AWESOME!!! He's very friendly..which is very difficult to find!

  • Danielle G.

Awesome if you want a quick and easy in expensive place to grab a slice (they're huge!). On Monday nights they do trivia, and it is VERY casual. Sort of like a place you go not expecting much, but getting great food for cheap. We usually each get a slice of pizza and pretzels, and spend less than 15 dollars. Full bar, and good beer choices.

  • Tanya R.

Wow!!...Where do I start. Ok so I decide to order a Veggie Pizza from this establishment. Great! Been here before pizza is always great. I order my pizza and pay the $16.43 (medium). Ok no problem....again the pizza is good. Two days later I'm checking my receipts against my checking account and BAM!!...there it is I'm charged an extra $2.00.....for what I don't know. I go back to the store and talk to the manager....well needless to say I'm still trying to decipher in my head the excuse she gave me.......she shows me their receipt....and clearly someone wrote in $2.00 on the Tip Line which brought the total to $18.43 (wasn't my handwriting) Of course this leaves a bad taste in my mouth....but I will never have a taste for pizza from them again

Today was my first time visiting and eating with my children at Stone Mountain Pizza Cafe... When we walked in we were able to seat ourselves and then our waitress came over , greeted us, asked us what would we like to order and drink... i told her it was our first time and then we ordered our drinks and she gave us some time to view the menu. Our waitress name was Jennifer ( I hoped I spelled it correctly) and she was so awesome.... i appreciate good service like this because it will be added to the great memories my children and I get to talked about ... Jennifer as well as another waiter served us our food and it was really good... my children asked if we can make the pizza cafe our Thursday pizza day every week... Thank you so much to Jennifer and staff for making our first time a next time.... Stay Blessed!

I have been coming to the Pizza Cafe for as long as I can remember and the food is consistently delicious and very reasonably priced. While I now live out of state, my parents still frequent SMPC for both take-out or dine-in and I eat here at least once each time I am home visiting. I will say that in the last several years, there has been a decline in the service and standard of the staff that they hire. I have noted many times it being difficult to get service at the table due to the staff socializing with their friends or acquaintances at other tables. Other than that, though, the food is still great and will always be a great neighborhood eatery that will always hold a special place in my heart :)

  • Neriyah J.

The pizza here is outstanding. Ever since tasting the avalanche I have no desire to try anything else ..The Avalanche-period. The greek salad is delicious and a great size. The only time I have a problem is when I call ahead..kinda bc i don't want to wait...and i kinda have to wait over 10 minutes which makes me pretty grumpy but when I get the food its spot on...Not exactly the cleanest place (silverware, restroom) etc and the service is okay at best..but the Avalanche pizza? nothing like it!

    (4)
  • The S.

Had the Greek salad, .vegetarian and mountain avalanche pizzas. Good portions and okay flavor. Thought food was not as good as on previous visit.

  • Lady N.

they should name themselves "The Cafe" for having a variety of food. Most of it is bland with no flavor. I ordered the pizza, salad, and their bread sticks. The breadsticks were better than the pizza. The pizza was positively pathetic and downright disgusting. Bland crust, hardly any sauce, too much cheese, no flavor. I'll never come here again. If it were possible, i'd give it no stars at all. The only people who could possibly like this mess are those with no taste buds or someone so hungry they'll eat anything...even their disgusting cheese with no sauce on a shingle that they call a pizza.

  • Jeremy A.

A good all around option if you are going to be rocking the pizza in the Stone Mountain neighborhood. We often put in huge orders for my office to this place so they definitely love us. The Hot Wings are good along with the BBQ Chicken Pizza. Also if you order here you must try the Avalanche, its pretty insane and comes with every topping known to man. There's better pizza in the city but out here, this is a great option and they are very friendly.

  • Melissa P.

I could eat their pizza all day everyday. I used to crave this place while i was pregnant. I always order feta, spinach, and tomatoes on my pizza. It's the closest I've gotten to true Italian pizza. I will say that even though their ravioli is good, it's a bit over priced. The calzone's are the best. They are big and you can put whatever you want in them. It's a true pizza joint! Their bar is alright, i've seen better. I would still recommend it.

  • Dwayne H.

Stone Mountain Pizza Cafe serves up a very good pizza! Their dough is perfectly crusty with a soft interior and it actually tastes good; their sauce is abundant and adequate in the taste department, but could use a touch more spice for my liking; their toppings are plentiful and the cheese has a nice taste and stretch to it. Prices are OK but not particularly a bargain unless one sticks to the "basic topping" pies (our 16" large pepperoni cost was $14.00 {rounded up} --- not a bad price for the size and quality of pie) and our total including two soft drinks came out under $17.00 before tip. Service can be slow and hard to get at times (we sat in the Bar area tables section on this latest visit where the ONLY Bartender took care of everything [tables and bar] and everybody else) and truly depends on the amount of people in the place at a given hour to servers ratio (really, the management needs to add staff during busy hours). Overall, we like the pizzas at SMPC better than a lot of competitors in the area. They don't have the best pizzas I have ever eaten but are a solid choice for a good quality pie at fairly reasonable prices. A 3.75 in my pizza book!

    (4)
  • Ashley T.

I've been eating at this place for many years. The food has been pretty consistent-yummy & always tastes fresh (I highly recommend the Greek salad & lasagna). The prices are pretty good. However, I'm disappointed in the overall service there. It's not bad EVERY time, but personally it's a little more often than I'd like. To be frank, they walk around as if they're in their pajamas at home. They're unfriendly to customers they don't know & it can take a while sometimes to even find your server to ask for something. It's rather frustrating since I really do love this place.

  • Robert C.

It really is New York style pizza. If you want to know what NY pizza tastes like stop here and pick up a couple of slices of cheese. Parmesan, red pepper, and garlic powder and you're good to go. Service was mediocre.

    (4)
  • Marcus S.

I thought that I had written this review already. I guess not, so here it is. I had been going here for 5 years at lunch and the pizza is pretty good. I usually call in an order of 2 slices of Mountain Avalanche with extra sauce. I came to pick up my order and asked if the price had gone up, (had that been the case, no problem). Craig tells me that the owner has started charging extra for extra sauce. I asked how much and he said, "$.60/ slice, just like extra toppings"! The owner was the one who took my order and did not mention that on the phone! Who does that? #1, it is under-handed, and #2, how cheap/trivial is this woman to have to charge for an additional spoon of sauce?! AND, it gets worse... I get back to the office, AND THERE IS NO EXTRA SAUCE ON EITHER SLICE. I was a regular, and when I called back Craig was apologetic and offered to make it right on my next visit; however, after my experience on 02/19/14, I have not been able to bring myself to go back...

  • Mark K.

Certainly not spectacular, but not a bad choice for a slice of pizza or an after-game gathering. (It would be a better choice if the owner were to realize how much of her traffic is generated from Parkview and Mountain Park fans/family/athletes, and decorated/supported accordingly. Calzones are good, big, and the marinara sauce for dipping is very good. Wings are above average. Pizza by the slice is good.

    (3)
  • Nicole W.

I have been dining here for years and years, and I absolutely love it. I always order the spaghetti with marinara, but my husband loves the wings and pizza as well. It is a GREAT value for the price. The service can be very spotty, but I'm there for the food anyway. Cheers :)

My go-to when I'm in Stone Mountain. Good, cheap pizza. Food comes out really quick. Cheap beer prices. Great servers. Couldn't ask for more!

  • D L.

Worst service I've had in a long time. Server took order and never came back. Took 30 min to get appetizer which was brought out by hostess while the server had a conversation with his friends. We walked out after 50 min without our food or even a visit from the server. Never again this place is a joke.

    (1)
  • Terry S.

If you go to SMPC, go for the pizza. Prices are decent, great atmosphere for kids, but that's about it. Service here is awful. I have to agree with all of the other posts on Yelp regarding the service, so there is no need to regurgitate them in this post. I think the waitstaff has been there so long, they have forgotten what customer service means.

This place used to be call Stone Mountain Pizza Cafe back in the day, now its located behind Aarons and Leslie Pool Supplies right off Hwy 78. I went last night and the pizza was great. The chicken tenders are well seasoned (not overly seasoned), and they have fresh ingredients for all of their toppings. I always get mine to go, last night they were busy (Sunday night). It was funny to see the same people from the old location at the new location since it's been years, (almost 7 yrs) since I was last there! The pizza is fresh with a thin crust. They also have really good soft baked pretzels. You should stop by and have some if your in the area. The Calzones are HUGE and so are the slices of pizza. Way bigger than Sbarro. For $14.00 I got two slices of pizza and 6 chicken tenders. For the quality of the food, its wasn't bad!

One of my favorite places to eat in the Stone Mountain. Pizza is great, nice atmosphere and the pretzels are phenomenal.

Pizza Cafe has the best pizza in the Stone Mountain area. The pizza is fresh and homemade with great ingredients. The atmosphere is very casual. The building has a open kitchen, full bar, and large outdoor eating area. It also has large TVs all over and arcade gamesI know many people who eat here on a regular basis. I think they should deliver for convenience and competition with the other nearby pizza joints. They do offer pick up orders which is very quick and easy. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Terrific food and a friendly staff. The pizza is great! The perfect antidote for the boring generic chain pizza joints that are a dime a dozen in the Stone Mtn - Lilburn - Snellville area. The pasta, sandwiches, salads, pretzels and so on are also wonderful. A large, usually crowded, vivacious space, very family friendly, but also with a full bar!

One week ago, I rated Pizza Cafe with 3-4 stars but now, not so much. I was so impressed with the food and really enjoyed it but now I realize that it was simply because of a new place and new menu items. My first experience at Pizza Cafe was delightful and I had a scrumptious steak and cheese sandwich. However, I was disappointed that it was just the sandwich. If I wanted fries or chips, you had to pay separate for that. Lame! I was so impressed that I took my fiance back and we ordered a BBQ chicken pizza. Not that fantastic, I must admit. I went back for a third time because it is so close to my job and it was my FINAL straw! This place is a Mellow Mushroom wannabe. If I want a good pizza, I'll just go to Mellow Mushroom because Pizza Cafe is NOT it!

This place used to be a hole in the wall joint, sandwiched between the Bally's fitness gym and Old Navy, but it has grown up a bit and moved into a larger, stand alone restaurant spot in the same shopping center. This place is now decked out with a full bar, LCD tv's everywhere, arcade games and pleanty more space for all of the high school regulars, L-town families and sports fans. Many of the people working here have worked here since....well forever, and though their service isn't always the greatest (slow at times, waitresses not refilling drinks or bringing the check) the reason I love this place is the food - go figure. Though I personally feel that there pizza is just so-so, their main stand out items are the calzones. They are like no other...they are HUGE, the size of a football, literally, they come out all puffed up from the steam trapped inside. Another favorite is the greek salad, loaded with leafy greens (no iceberg here), mounds of feta, pepperoncinis, green bell peppers, kalamata olives (pit in), cucumbers and tomato wedges. Last but not least, I love the hoagie sandwiches. You can get them on a white or wheat roll or even as a wrap, again white or wheat, and they are grilled to delicious perfection. The italian on a wheat roll is happiness.

*Ok, this profile did not pop up when I tried to review this place earlier, but now that I see that it already existed I've moved my review over here.* Anyway, this is the sister restaurant to Avondale Pizza Café. I've been here a couple times and I like APC much more than this location. SMPC is much larger and doesn't have a nice comfy vibe like APC does. It feels a bit more "chainy". It has a bar and a large kitchen which APC doesn't have though. The food seemed pretty much the same, but it's just not as nice as the Avondale spot in general. 2

SMPC could do a little better. Though the environment does go towards the comfy and casual, the employees there (esp the servers) look like ordinary people and are very hard to distinguish. It is as if they came straight from home with whatever they had on and came to work. The service is average and can use a little improvement. The food is moderate if you are looking for comfort food.
