This place is 3 minutes from my house so I am bias! Great food, good drinks, very affordable!!! The staff is very nice and the atmosphere is casual. Try the chicken and rice soup, grilled chicken tacos, La Lancha, and Texas margaritas! They have daily food and drink specials that are displayed on the screen near the bar so make sure you check those out for extra savings!

This place is raggedy. My margarita tastes like Splenda and I did not get the drink I asked for. 2 cheese dips and salsa and no chips to eat it with. Service... They try but do not succeed. Food was not good. Found a shrimp shell in my cantina dip. Salsa tastes like puréed tomatoes. No flavor. Chips are hard- the roof of my mouth is scratched up! This is not Mexican, this is Mexicant.

Great Texas Margaritas! Ready to have a few cocktails after work, my buddy and I decided to stop at a mexican spot for Texas Margarita's. We arrived around 6ish on a Friday evening, the place was already packed so we drove around a bit to find a parking spot. Once inside we asked to be seated in the patio area ( not so crowded ), they still had the covering that was put up for the winter ( I'm assuming ). Angel waited on our table, he was a pleasure....very fun and energetic. We order a pitcher of Texas Margarita, he suggested that we add the peach flavor, so we tried it and he even brought out a little extra flavor on the side when he brought out the pitcher ( I thought that was really nice). The flavored drink was great .... but the size of the pitcher seems to be a little bit bigger than your average. I knew that happy moments were arriving after my first sip-lol. I wasn't really hungry, but I knew that I had to eat something, so we decided to order an appertizer, I also order the Grilled Fijita Salad with chicken( 3 meat options: chicken, shrimps or steak ) and for the appertizer we ordered the Cantina Dip....... and man ol man.......GOOD STUFF! I completely fell head over hills in love with the Catina Dip; I almost forgot my salad was sitting there-lol, the cantina dip is basically queso with grilled chicken, steak & shrimp tucked inside and they were not light on the meat ( Where they do this at???? Monterry -lol ).YUMMY! I rarely use the restrooms when I'm out, but this time (obviously ), I use the restroom and and for the place to be so crowded I was very impressed with them being so clean. The restaurant was nice and comfortable, the services we recieved was very nice. I will definitely be visiting again soon .....even if only to pick up a to go order of Cantina dip tonight. Lol. I'll be BACK.

So I am actually here now and I decided I wanted to order a drink or two and I ask for a menu which the waiter brought to me( he was nice btw) but it seemed like every drink I wanted and ordered they didn't have all the ingredients and was told all they have is beer and margarita's which is very inconvenient cause I feel the staff should know this and let the customers know before they bring the drink menu over . The seats are pretty uncomfortable and its needs to be renovated. The food was ok Though. But I don't see myself comin back

The worst Mexican I've ever had. My wifes quesadilla had next to no cheese on it and my burrito was pretty gross. Add in that the chips tasted a week old and my wife's plate was chipped. We will never ever go back. Certified yucky!

Initially I liked this place, but our last 2 visits have been disappointing. Service was slow tonight and the food was just OK. They advertise having a drive through for take out but it's out of service. Not a deal breaker, I don't really mind going inside to pick up food. My main issue is the chips - this time & previous visit I had to request a fresh batch because they were so greasy. Obviously, I'm not trying to eat healthy when I order chips & queso, but I got physically ill just from eating just a few chips & a chicken soft taco :( They do have good Margaritas (Skinny & Organic) but not good enough for me to return.

Another Smyrna business I must unfortunately rate as "just fine." Not great, not bad. It's about exactly what you'd expect pulling into a little place near strip malls in Smyrna The staff is very nice and attentive. I like them very much. But the food is just ok.

Texas Rita's and Texas fajitas were on point tonight. Service is always good and usually a fair amount of space on the porch.

Well done for fair prices. Chips & salsa service, quick + hot. I enjoy sharing the fajitas. Taco sides are good portion. Cheese dip is good as well. Small dark bar but large covered patio.

We go here whenever we need a quick fix of Mexican food. The food is fine the portions are plenty. The drinks are fun. Service is very attentive. We have tried Los Bravos down the street and this restaurant is much better. Good neighborhood spot.

Pretty good spot. Has great food and great service. They greet you at the door and attend to your needs with no trouble or attitude. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is the language barrier with the wait staff. On a few occasions my wife and I have asked for top shelf tequila in our margarita pitchers and they never seem to know what I'm talking about. They just repeat what I say and always end up bringing us bottom shelf pitchers, which is proven by the headaches I have in the morning. Next time we will probably go to the bar and order our pitchers there, and watch the bartender make it so we can be sure we get the right thing. Other than that, we're happy with Monterrey. Been going there occasionally for a few years and we will continue to go.

Sometimes I come here to have 2 or 3 of the 32 oz xx amber on draft while finishing computer related work. Bartenders are always laid back and just hand me the remote to the directv so I can watch msnbc or whatever non soccer channel I want to watch. I asked for chicken fajita enchiladas once and they were pretty solid. Other than that I come to get work done will drinking.

My wife and I eat here once a week. Our server Mitzi is always friendly and helpful, food is always good, and it's definitely a place we can always count on. Tonight, I asked for an beef enchilada without onions, knowing that most places make their meat fillings in advance with onions, and was told it would be no problem, and it wasn't. And the price is always right, plus I'm addicted to their salsa, and make sure to bring some home each visit. A great Mexican restaurant, even if it is American-ized to some level.

I go here all the time with my lovely girlfriend and it's always a treat. I usually get a taco, enchilada combo and always have the Margarona! That is a giant Margarita with a little corona in it, yum! Servers are friendly and the food usually comes out pretty quickly. If you're planning on coming here for Cinco De Mayo make sure you show up the night before and camp out!!

Went to dinner here 10/16/12 and the food, margaritas & service were really good. We usually go to Los Bravos on S. Cobb by Publix, but after finding Monterrey even closer to us, we decided to give it a try. We will definitely be back. The margaritas were so good that I forgot which door we came in when we were leaving. Thank goodness I wasnt driving! Boyfriend had the steak tacos & I had the veggie taco salad...we both liked our dishes!

We love this place and come about twice a month. The location is convenient, but the real draw is the mariachi band on Saturday nights. Nothing I write could do them justice - you just have to see for yourself. Fun. Food-wise, the refried beans are excellent. the rice is pretty darn good, as is the salsa. We also love the Churiqueso dip. The reason for only four stars is that the rest of the menu is hit or miss. I have found a few dishes that are average or above, but it took a few visits. Granted, we come for the band and house margaritas. The food is a bit secondary for us at this place.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
