Last night, my husband & I enjoyed a fabulous meal at 22 Square! Chef Lauren, Server Erin, & Matt are part of the team that will provide you with an unforgettable dining experience! Located in the Andaz Hotel where we have also been staying, this restaurant is among the best we've ever experienced... All organic, fresh produce & amazing! Don't miss staying here or experiencing the restaurant & bar!

Great ambience, fantastic service, and the meal was perfect, fresh. Highly recommend this little gem of a restaurant in a city known for its food.

We came to 22 Square restaurant because some of our other restaurant choices we wanted to go to were all booked up and the reviews were good... We were definitely pleased with our choice. The staff was friendly. The restaurant is located within the Andaz hotel. It was clean and welcoming. Everything served at 22 Square is locally grown produce and with sustainable ingredients. Everything was so fresh and delicious.

Excellent food. If you don't mind the price tag and prefer healthier food this would be a great place to eat.

Amazing place. The chef is unbelievable. Our burger was over cooked and she came out and gave us delicious ice cream and treats with a Hindu prayer and apologized for it being overdone. We devoured the cheese plate and acted like we'd been on a deserted island for 60 days with no food. EAT here!!! It's all worth it! Oh did I mention the amazing sunset I'm looking at right now?

The web page says it all: "Cooking with passion and a simple approach, Square 22 Restaurant is a chic farm-to-table eatery serving the flavors of the South using locally grown produce and fresh, seasonal ingredients. Savor classic Southern cuisine, reinvented with a modern twist and sourced from local, sustainable farms and markets." We're local and can choose from at least six world class restaurants, and Square 22 remains our favorite. Best gumbo ever! Steak sandwich is a signature item. Drinks are spectacular...best manhattan we've ever tasted: the bartender smokes his own cherries. The mint julep is another good choice. Ask for some of the different kinds of bread. Get there early for the candied bacon ... It goes fast. We try and eat here at least once a month.

Drinks and food are too notch. Hidden gem. All of their food is organic and locally sources and tastes just like it should, Fresh! Get the chicken and ask jacob the bartender to make you a tasty cocktail from his New york days. worth every penny, best cocktails in town

The way they have there menu set up does not have the dinners best interest in mind. They care more about giving credit to the places where they source food from then giving the dinner an easily comprehensible menue. We got apps and main courses and drinks. I would give the drinks a 6, the apps 5 and the entrees a 7. All and all I would say they are trying to hard with the whole farm to table thing at the expense of the dinners over all experience. Also the homemade bread needed salt.

OK, I will admit I am biased. I know a lot of the farmers and ranchers who supply 22 Square. All are at the Savannah Farmer's Market where I shop. But a restaurant is more than the product that is supplied. Granted fresh, local food is a great start, but it takes a chef that loves the food and wants to highlight the best properties of that food. And the chef at 22 Square loves the product he gets from the local farmers and ranchers. We had the Hunter Cattle (Farms on the menu I guess so you would not question chicken from Hunter Cattle) Chicken with the mushroom risotto. Now I am a risotto snob - I will admit that. It has to be creamy and al dente. OK it has to be flavorful as well. This risotto met those standards - at least on the night I was there. And the chicken was sooooo good. It was not over sauced and the chicken was allowed to come forward. If you have not had free range chicken you have missed a sweetness of the meat that is unlike anything you can get from a grocery store. Then we had the pastured grass fed beef blackened ribeye which is also from Hunter Cattle. Excellently cooked (medium rare is my choice). But the real delight were the roasted tomatoes and caramelized onions with the blue cheese on top. OMG!! So good. And also try the deserts. And you can watch the folks in Ellis Square.

I loved the ambiance. Service was courteous a true southern hospitality experience. You can't go wrong with anything in the menu. I thought the prices were reasonable. ($24 for the snapper, $36 for a tenderloin and $11 for a hearty salad).

We had an amazing meal here...one of the best meals we've had in a while. This place is so unique because it is a hotel restaurant, yet it is not the typical hotel restaurant that serves lame Cesar salads and nachos. It has locally sourced foods, amazing cocktails and outstanding service. Our waiter, Bradley, was kind nod attentive and really knew his menu and the foods on it. We had our toddler fighter with us and instead of rolling his eyes when we arrived, he welcomed us like family and made sure we were all happy and satisfied. We've eaten all over the world and in some of the finest hotels and this was among the best. Try it. You won't be disappointed!

This place is AMAZING. Chef Lauren is the BEST. She makes meals to order based on what you like, using fresh and local ingredients. She even enjoys the challenge of unusual dietary restrictions, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free. Coming here with coworkers for a conference, we ate here multiple times and discussed our dreams of taking Chef Lauren home with us. The first time we went, she packed us a three course meal to go, complete with dessert. the second night, I knew the drill better and asked for what ingredients I wanted, and she made an amazing meal! She made us a unique and delicious meal and even got us custom desserts from a local chocolatier. The ambience and service are also impeccable. This place is an absolute gem, and impelled me to write a restaurant review on yelp for the first time ever!

Fabulous farm-to-table in Savannah. After three nights of delicious seafood, mainly oysters, I needed a change. So glad we found this delicious place! Super strong boutique cocktails, fabulous wine list, AMAZING (yes!) baked breads. We had the most incredible cheese plate-- my heavens! Yum. I had the special entree which was pompano over an heirloom tomato risotto with spinach. The fish was crispy on the bottom and absolutely perfectly seasoned and prepared. My fiancé had the pork chop with some crispy smoked fingerling potatoes that he still can't stop talking about... We ordered too much food and didn't finish everything we wanted to finish but so glad we tried it all. So good. Try this place. And even though you'll want to order everything, don't, because you'll end up like us, having to skip dessert because you're too full! :)

With expectations of upscale dining we found 22 Square to be somewhat disappointing. Seated at a lite, small dining room we found service to be attentive all evening. The limited menu clearly defines where all selection ingredients originate from. Also defined on the menu description - whether the dish is an appetizer, small plate or main entree. The evening started on a high note. After placing our orders we received an unexpected sizable cheese / fruit plate with bread offering. Tastefully done it was a highlight. Our dinning selections included a Scallop small plate, a Gumbo appetizer and a Buffalo Rib-eye entree. The scallops were acceptable but nothing more. The Gumbo - while a touch spicy was otherwise bland and forgetful - tastefully lacking. The Rib-eye correctly cooked medium arrived warm with the accompanying potatoes strongly under cooked. Shame - on our final night in Savannah we were looking for one more satisfying meal. 22 Square fell a bit short.

LOTS OF TIME NEEDED!! Time is my only ding on this restaurant. It took us about an hour and a half to complete our meal, with our actual food being delivered after an hour. All of our dishes were delicious, the braised pork belly being our favorite. The table bread was rustic, unique and plentiful. The farm to table concept is well executed. But please hire a sous chef, it seems like the owner is the only one in the kitchen.

Some of the best tasting food I've ever tasted! My boyfriend and I enjoyed a few entrees including the bone marrow and shrimp, scallops, risotto dishes. Overall, the entire experience was amazing, from the wonderful food to good service. This was the first time that I had bone marrow and surprisingly enjoyed it very much. The bone marrow tasted so good, it was such a savory, flavorful dish that had that great melt-in-your-mouth feeling with each bite. Similarly, the seafood with risotto dish (I don't recall the name) was very delightful. The risotto was cooked just right: creamy and rich with a palatable flavor. Alongside the food, the cocktails were really good. I had the Trinidad sour cocktail, which was a smooth and bold tasting drink that went well with the bone marrow. My boyfriend on the other hand ordered a cocktail that was more citrusy but delightful just the same. Overall, the experience was amazing! It is very trendy and classy, kid friendly and good for small parties. Unfortunately, this place is often booked but the bar and lobby area (has a few couches with tables) are first-come, first-serve.

A great farm-to-table restaurant. Reservation was made, and we were seated right away. The menu was a new experience because it was organized by type of protein or vegetable, and within each section, an appetizer, small plate, or entree was offered. As we have been eating and walking throughout the day, we were looking for something light and refreshing. We did not order any of the entrees--just the small plates and appetizers: pork belly, ceviche, and pickled & fresh vegetables. The dinner started off with a large basket of bread and butter. The ceviche came with crostini, and it was my favorite dish of the meal. It came with pickled mustard seeds, which really made the dish stand out. The vegetable dish was very large, and a good choice to share amongst the table. The pork belly was flavorful and rich, and balanced well with the sweet and tanginess of the small salad that came with it. Although we didn't order the entrees, the overall meal was memorable. The setup and ambiance of the small restaurant was my favorite part of the experience. Through the large windows, you can view the large fountain, and I was able to see the sun set throughout the meal.

Every time I come here for dinner I have an amazing time. I love that all the food is local and everything is made in house. I also love that since I'm gluten free they have homemade bread just for me. Which tastes amazing and not like the stuff you get in the store but soft and fluffy. This time I went for restaurant week and they were super friendly with helping me pick out something I could eat and even editing a few dishes. They always seem to go above and beyond when I come and I'm just a little Tini local. Lol. I also was super happy that they offered to cut the crust off the cheesecake for me so I could have it and that just made my night!

Amazing. Made a reservation on Open Table (is inside Aloft Hotel). We got a three cheese sampler to start with and an excellent bottle of wine. The breads were also great. My friend got a pork chop that I swear was bigger than her head and I got a filet that melted in my mouth. I highly recommend heading here and enjoying their farm to table deliciousness!

One of the best meals I have had in recent memory. The fresh ingredients and unique preparations make it a must try. We recommend the cheese board. The chicken pot pie was the best I have ever had. Everything was great. The portions are huge and the cost is reasonable. The breads are unusual and fun. I highly recommend.

Delicious! We chose to sit at the bar - best option I think. The bartender is very friendly and obviously loves his job. Portion sizes are great; the menu lists the locations of the ingredients; our server knew the menu and worked with me on my food allergies. Hubby loved the bread/cheese plate they brought out! Food appears to be seasonal and based on what they can pick up from the market, but definitely try to chorizo and tomato stuffed calamari if you get the chance!

Food was fantastic and loved the atmosphere. The duck confit was an amazing, as was the braised pork belly.

The restaurant is a farm to table style. So everything was super fresh. Very small dining room however. It's a very casual place. Servers wore what they wanted. It was hard to distinguish who worked there. Constantly saw the servers hanging out at the bar area talking to their friends. The food... The bread with green beans in it was a bit strange. The other bread was good. We had the flank steak, a pasta dish, another steak dish and salad as our entrees. The food is good. We ordered 2 entree dishes but be prepared one looked more like and appetizer while the other one was a full entree. So overall food was good! but everything else was mediocre.

Made reservations via Open Table based on Yelp score. Arrived 5 minutes early to a nearly empty restaurant and was told that we'd have to wait for our table. Sat down at the bar and was retailed by a bartender who thought any seafood not from his home state of Maine was beneath him (which told us to avoid the seafood options on the menu) and how liqueurs are stupid (after we asked him for a St Germaine). Seated about 10 minutes later and we review the menu. It's minimalist, which is fine, of course. But we had some questions about the items. The server, who was very pleasant, described the dish by saying it was cut into triangles. No preparation or spice information. Triangles. Ok. But Yelp said this place was good, so we pressed on. Settling on the lamb, we asked for the wine list. It was small for our preferences. Wine is a big part of dining out for me, and I work in the wine trade, so I asked the server if she could recommend another place with a more extensive wine list. She did and was super helpful. We didn't order anything, left in the first 5 minutes, tipped the server a $5 for the helpful info and went on our way. The next day, Open Table sent me an email telling me that the restaurant had reported us as no-shows on our reservations. Tldr: empty place, negative feedback on food from location's own bartender, small wine menu, inaccurate administrative reporting.

We went here to celebrate our 21st anniversary on our last night in Savannah. We had enjoyed lots of great food but this place was the best by far. Everything from the cheese plate to the dessert was perfect. Everything was fresh and tasty. The atmosphere was quaint and relaxed. Nothing was in a hurry. So if you want tasty, fresh food in a wonderful atmosphere this is the place to be.

Everything about this place was great. Our waiter was very attentive, food selection and quality was great. The portions were a nice size. Atmosphere was nice. Drink selection was great. Fairly pricey though. Would recommend this place

My friends and I tried this place out and it was a great experience. They seated us at the chefs table- which is outside the restaurant almost in the hotel lobby- but it was a fun location to people watch. Everyone in my group loved their food, hands down the cheeseboard was our favorite. I also ordered the pickled veggies and that was amazing.

The food was delicious! My best friend and I are staying at the Andaz for a girl's weekend and decided to try this onsite, farm to table restaurant. We shared three small plates and it was the perfect amount of food. The Gouda and red onion jam quesadilla is one of the best foods I have ever eaten. If the service had been better and more informative I would give it 5 stars!

My wife and I visited this on yelps recommendation. We were overwhelmed with the wonderful quality of the food. The menu is very eclectic. You order according to the size of portions. The cheese appetizer is a must do! All three cheeses were exceptional! My wife is gluten intolerant, and the staff provided gluten-free bread without our requesting it. I ordered the pork chop as an entrée, and a side salad. The food was incredibly fresh and delicious! The service was perfect! We will be back!

Hands down best shrimp and grits. Get the full buffet and then ask for shrimp and grits, ask for the original recipe not the new one. It's amazing! Great service. Thanks Bethany! Kelly and Casey!!

4.5 stars. V and I ate here for Thanksgiving and it was quite lovely. We both got their take on the "classic" Thanksgiving dinner -- turkey, gravy, greens, mac n cheese, and cranberry sauce. It was all very tasty. The restaurant itself, located in the Andaz hotel, is a very nice spot. There's a small dining room area, plus a more open seating area and a bar. Our server (whose name I sadly can't remember) was a lovely lady -- helpful, but not obnoxiously so.

We came into town a little late in the afternoon, needed something simple and easy, and were hoping for farm to table. We read about 22 Square online, and liked what we heard. We weren't disappointed. We sat in the window and looked out onto the fairly new public square and walk-in fountain. The sun was fading, and it made for a pleasant view while we both enjoyed a glass of our favorite beverage. My wife had the shrimp and I had the scallops with smoked pork belly. Just delicious, everything we had hoped it would be. Attentive, but not rushed, service. Quiet, relaxing, subdued atmosphere. We'll be back. What a great find.

This restaurant was inside our hotel, Andaz, and we ate here only once -- right after a terrifying lightning storm that forced us to stay in. We started at the bar and had margaritas. Delicious. (bartender a little snooty. meh.) Then we ordered the cheese plate in the restaurant. OMG DON"T MISS THE CHEESE PLATE. I love cheese and this was beautifully presented and extremely edible. I must have eaten 6 slices of bread with it. The white bread was like crack. You would think we would be stuffed after all that cheese and bread but my husband and I both had the meat and three. We both had steak. I asked to substitute a salad instead of the veggies and grains it came with. We were both very happy. If not super stuffed;) This place serves locally grown food. Very fresh. Beautiful presentation/location, delicious food and worth the visit. Plus our server was adorable and very pleasant.

Had a fantastic experience last time I dined. I arrived with 2 out of town relatives who loved what they ordered. The highlights of our visit: bread (eat it, eat it all.), the Chicken Pot Pie, and I had the beef entree and it was beef tenderloin with garlic smashed potatoes and glazed carrots. My meal was the best prepared beef I've ever eaten in my life. The other two relatives I was with, both had New York discerning palates and loved their meals too. I would come back here in a heartbeat.

Great drinks, nice atmosphere, delicious food, and yummy bread service. No seriously, the bread and butter were amazing! I ordered the sweet potato gnocchi with pork belly and split the deviled eggs appetizer. I loved the pickled vegetables that came with the deviled eggs. The onions were tangy and sweet but not too strong. The green beans were my other favorite. The gnocchi was good but a little bit rich (I probably should have realized ordering a pasta dish with pork belly would be like this). I would still eat this again but I definitely could only eat a small amount!

The freshest food I have ever had. They get their ingredients from local farms. Everything we had was perfect! My boyfriend can only eat gluten free and they had a variety of gf options. They also make their own bread so he was able to have GF bread while I had their regular bread. He says it was the best bread he's ever had. He ordered the swordfish special on top of fresh veggies. It was the most tender swordfish he has ever had. I had the crispy pork belly with house made pasta, onions, and greens. For our appetizer we had the bowl of pickled veggies, deviled eggs, and crispy chicken skin. Overall, we had a nice experience. We will definitely come back.

  • Carole Z.

Our food here was really good. My gf and I went here for my 40th birthday. We tried the deviled eggs, pork belly and split pea soup, the meat sampler tray, the pork belly entree and shrimp appetizer as well as a few drinks. The only problem we had was that our waiter pretty much marred the entire night for us. Not sure if he had too many tables, or if he was grumpy about having to have a two top, but he was pretty rude to us most of the night in my opinion.

Can I just say that I am sooo glad that I made a reservation - even though it was for 7:30 not 7, because apparently the restaurant was full at that time. Except not. We were one of three tables in the restaurant - what's up with that OpenTable?! Griping ends there. 22 Square was ridiculously amazing - the cocktails were delicious (a Cucumber Swizzle and this Rye Sour thing), our server was patient (and very friendly, considering we weren't the restaurant's normal clientele - I think we were about 20 years young and a bit too buzzed) and very informative. And the food, oooh myyyy goddd, the food. Started with a cheese plate - Asher Blue - delicious, a Sheep's Milk Cheddar - so creamy, and this interesting honey goat cheese with a black tea rind - so different. All were accompanied by fruits, vegetables, and this delicious white and red grape compote. And all went fantastically with their delicious housemade bread. We nibbled on that for a while - guilt free, since at this point there was only one table with us - and then moved onto our small plates, which were more than enough for us. Friend got the Shrimp Stir Fry - I wasn't a fan, thought the leek fondue was a bit too rich and creamy for a dish like that. She, however, loved it. I got the Honey Glazed Pork Belly - Holy Piggy - it was amazing. The pork belly was so melt-in-your-mouth rich, and the salad was sweet and tangy - the perfect balance. And perhaps best of all - an amazing experience (plus leftovers!) for less than $40 a person. Not cheap, but for what you get, it's totally reasonable. Food - 5 Drink - 5 Service - 5 Value - 5

My friend and I chose to dine at this restaurant based on the reviews we read on Yelp. We were sadly disappointed with our food and the service. On a Friday night the place was practically empty. The food lacked flavor, we both had the chicken pot pie. The server did not have interpersonal communication skills. Dine at your own risk but I know I won't be eating there again.

A superb dining event. We were lucky enough to experience restaurant week at 22 Square and it was memorable. We both had their homemade sausage with braised collards for an appetizer and it was so good. Fish and shrimp for entrees, excellent as well. And what feast is complete without dessert? We had pecan pie and carrot cake. I am still smiling just thinking about it. We had a nine o'clock reservation and although the place was really busy, we were seated at exactly nine. Service was very attentive and the ambience is first class. We will long remember the meal and the restaurant. I highly recommend giving it a shot.

I eaten at many restaurants in my travels but this is a rare restaurant that knocks it out of the park. The restaurant has a classy and bright feel with tasteful decor. It is a place you can take special someone to for nice evening without feeling a suit and tie is needed. Upscale without being stuffy. The staff very attentive and professional - very good service. Finally the food was amazing - fresh / local and very well prepared. Every dish I had from appetizer to dessert was top notch. Will be my place to go in Savannah

I was in Savannah for a national sales meeting and we had a free night (which is rare on these events) and my boss and I decided to take some partners of ours out to dinner. I was tasked with finding the restaurant and came across 22 Square. The evening did not start out well...Our group got split up (as we were staying across the river and had to take a ferry) and two of us made our way to the restaurant. We did get a little lost - as nowhere does it say that the restaurant is in a hotel nor do you realize there are two hotels with the same name a few blocks from each other. Once we did find the restaurant, the host was not overly friendly and could have cared less about his job (at least that's how it seemed). He did not leave my guest and I with a favorable impression. The other half of our party arrived and things began to look up. Our server was very friendly, warm and intelligent. She provided some insight on wine and beers - even bringing out a second wine choice and allowing several of us to taste it when our first selection was unavailable. She provided us with some great off-the-menu choices for appetizers and dinner; as well as suggested some great appetizers for dinner. Our part of eight had a great meal; ranging from deviled eggs, meatballs and a cheese plate for appetizers to steaks, pork chops and pork belly for dinner. I would have giving this restaurant five stars but the experience of finding this place and the impression the host made on us held me back.

We came on Christmas night. Not always the best night to eat out. Given that I'm gluten free and not by choice, we asked our server what were some of the gluten free friendly items. He was the only weakness in the evening and initially colored our experience. He had the good sense to tap into the knowledge of Chef Lauren Teague who came to our table and couldn't have been more welcoming and accommodating. We told her that I was gluten free and she smiled and said she was happy to cook for vegetarians and people with gluten allergies. "We all have to eat," she said. What a pleasure. We told her we would leave the menu in her capable hands and so it was a meal to remember. She made latkes that were so flavorful, steak tartare and then proceeded to cook pork belly two ways. For dessert she treated us to poached pear and homemade butter pecan ice cream with smoked cherries. Delicious. Highly recommended but make sure your server is knowledgeable. Thank you, Lauren.

Just ok. Was excited to read about a farm to table restaurant in Savannah but was underwhelmed by the food. Ordered the dinner special, a flounder fillet, that was crispy and delicious though served with a tired and withered up melange of very dry mushrooms. The best part of the dinner was the delicious bread--3 types, all made on site--with sweet butter and freshly ground pepper. Limited wine selections. Excellent service and very nice atmosphere. Oh well.

One of my Savannah favorites lately. This restaurant focuses on using locally sourced ingredients and the results are amazing. I recently enjoyed their take on low country boil. The shrimp were super flavorful (and already peeled yay) and there was a large portion of perfectly cooked fish on top...it was fantastic. The portions are plentiful and the service is friendly. I also love their brunch setup. They have several tables of fresh fruits, vegetable salads, pastries and then a cooking station that will cook up pretty much whatever you'd like.

Sunday Brunch here is simply a must-do. An eclectic mix of the freshest foods, all delivered in a buffet-style setting that would rival a royal's wedding reception. Croissant, muffins, scones, and other breads. Fresh juices, fruits, and berries. A charcuterie & fromage board. Chef Sam kills it with your omelets and crepes. The granola and smoothie bars are a picky-eater's heaven. Bethany is a rock star. The only draw-back here is the "maple" syrup. With all of their other foods being so amazing, I'm really not sure what they were thinking.

So good! I love the fresh ingredients Chef Lauren uses and my 2 1/2 yr old was fascinated at watching her work and still talks about her (and her ice cream!) The grapes they put on the bread are amazing, the chicken pot pie is the best I ever had and I dream about the pasta from the chicken piccata. Hope you think about opening a restaurant in South Florida Chef Lauren :)

Awesome, fresh, flavorful... this place is terrific. The menu is confusing, but just relax and trust the farm fresh perspective and unusual combinations. We had the cheese board, deviled eggs, blackened shrimp carrot bisque, ricotta vegetable tart, coconut curry vegetables and beef tenderloin. Absolutely all were amazing. Recommended highly. Ambience is nice but not stuffy. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Bread, cheese, crispy pork belly OH MY!!!!!!! And despite everything I just listed being incredibly unhealthy, Chef incorporates sooooooo many fresh, local vegetables in sooooo many amazing & creative ways that you can get out of there not feeling like the pig you just ate. Loved the entire experience, from the waitress who also happens to be one of the farmers that provides produce to this farm-to-table experience, to the caramel custard heavenly end.

Randomly found this place when we missed our reservation for the olde pink house; saw the great reviews and decided to give it a try. There were a lot of young, hip people milling around in the bar area right when we walked in and it seemed like a nice joint. The decor is trendy and cool without trying too hard. We were confused when we got the menus, though. They categorize their dishes on the menu in a unique way by classifying them by the farm where the food comes form, which sounds cool, but is confusing because most of the farms have some sort of animal in their name (shrimp, cow, pig) and so I mistakenly believed that each dish contained that animal. The waiter came over and kind of explained it? But when he left i was equally confused (he seemed high, which happens). Anyways, we ordered a cheese/veggie plate, vegetable and pork pasta, and a chicken breast platter with risotto. THE FOOD WAS AMAZING. EVERY SINGLE THING tasted so fresh made with care. The prices were spot on, and we probably would have paid more for what we ended up with.

This restaurant is in the Andaz Hotel on Ellis Square. Both the lobby and the restaurant are lovely, modern, elegant spaces. We had some difficulty finding the host station because the hotel lobby and the restaurant seem to share some of the same space. In the middle of a room was a tiny station. The hostess came across the room as we hesitated there. The menu is interesting. For some of the items, the descriptions are vague and have strange syntax. Some studying is necessary to figure out what the food is--and even then I sometimes didn't know. Most of the menu was arranged into categories with three items to a category. Besides the descriptions of the items were tiny letters: a, s, and e, for appetizers, small plates and entrees. So there was a lot to figure out. The bread and butter were very good. We ordered the cheese board to start, first asking the waiter to describe it. He only described the cheeses, but the board was a lot more: fruits, vegetables and paper thin crostini. And a lot of it. It was messy to eat, but very good. It was fun to pair blueberries with the different cheeses and then try the pickled radish with them. I would have liked if he would have described it fully when I asked. For our entrees, we both got "meat and three." I got the beef, my husband the chicken. Both meats were tender and delicious. The "three" consisted of little cauliflower florets on top of sautéed spinach on top of pureed cauliflower. Too much cauliflower for me. I preferred the spinach, which was warm and had seasoning, rather than both iterations of cauliflower, which were bland and cold. A woman behind me ordered the oxtails and noodles, and exclaimed when a huge bowl was brought out. She said the waited had told her it was a large plate, and it was huge. We all were amused.

Unbelievable. Came here because of the reviews. The reviews don't even begin to express how fantastic and fresh and local the food is. The best ribeye steak with blue cheese and onions that I have ever had. Frittata with vegetables was fantastic. Shrimp cilantro was out of this world, extremely fresh. Best shrimp ever. And the homemade velvet felarnum clove ice cream again is a one-of-a-kind unique experience. Wait staff was amazing. Erin took a lot of abuse from us (in fun) and never lost her smile.

I can't say enough about this restaurant! We loved it from the minute we walked in. It is open and airy with an organic feel. They are a Farm to Fork restaurant so whatever they don't get from local farms they make themselves and the hostess does a wonderful job of explaining the menu as it is broken down a bit differently. We had a tough time deciding as everything looked wonderful. We decided on the charcuterie plate, sliced pork belly with slaw & corn cakes and the crispy pork belly with veggie pasta. Everything was amazing! My 5 year old agreed. I have to also mention the bread basket they bring- out of this world! There are 3 varieties of house made bread and all are equally fabulous. We ordered dessert as well. It was good, but the other courses are definitely their strong point. Our waitress, Erin, was great. She was friendly, professional and answered all of our questions. This is a hidden gem as it is tucked away in a hotel. Also a head's up, they have to save half of their tables for potential hotel diners so if you can't get a reservation by calling or on Open Table try walking in. Enjoy!

Had dinner at 22 Square Friday night and it was delightful. The service was excellent and the food outstanding. We will definitely dine here again.

Excellent meal here during our recent stay at the Andaz. I'm typically a taste junkie--and the dishes were very tasty--but I also have to note the very generous portions. 22 seems to have cracked the secret "taste, quality and portion size are mutually exclusive" restaurant code. We had the pickled veg+deviled egg board, a spicily brothed shrimp soup that was excellent. It had assertive flavors, any one of which could have easily sidetracked the dish, but didn't. My wife had Veggie Gnocchi w/Pork...chef gnocched it out of the park. For me, their interpretation of Chicken Piccata (which I ordered) was outstanding. The chicken cutlet was amazing...the best I've had. It was actually a slightly pounded-thin, lightly breaded airline chicken breast, seasoned & cooked perfectly. Mmmmm! It's burned into my flavuh memory banks. Service was very good. Nice staff.

One of the best dinners I had on my visit to Savannah. Wine, bread, steak, ravioli and cheesecake my guest and I ordered were amazing! Made reservations and we were promptly seated and served. There was live music playing in the bar that was very nice and not too loud. Has a classy yet casual atmosphere. Definitely trendy/hipster vibe...especially our servers.

I was in Savannah for a conference and during the day I went to skate all the spots I could find. While there I met an honest and funny lady. I asked her where a good place to eat would be. None of that touristy shit (everything on the river pretty much). She recommended 22 square because of its awesome local food. I am ecstatic that I went! Very knowledgeable staff and got to see the chefs prepare my meal. I actually told the server and the main chef that I wanted to feel fresher after this meal because I wasn't feeling fresh to death (like I usually am) after all the fried food I had been eating from my sponsor. The meal we made was fantastic. Beer choices: decent. The only reason this didn't have a 5 star rating is because of the price. So remember that. The restaurant uses local greens and sustainable farming and is super knowledgeable and friendly. The food is amazing!

Excellent food! Menu was confusing at first but don't like it off put you. No one was disappointed! The bread plate was good and I decided on the braised pork belly-best pork belly I've ever had. So good and a good portion. My friend got the chicken pot pie and another got the tuna tartare and they both were pleased as well. Definately a good choice.

Amazing food! Farm to table so the food is fresh. We had the cheese plate to start. The portions of cheese were large but we were happy with that. The complimentary bread was delicious so we paired the cheese with that. For entrees we had steak and vegetables. Wonderful!

Had appetizers there last night. Phenomonal. We had the deviled eggs, shrimp with peanuts, cheese plate, and crispy pork belly. Very generous portions with lots of fresh fruits, veggies and pickled veggies with each small plate and app. Can't wait to go back for dinner! This place is a hidden gem.

One word: extraordinary There's not many nights where I leave dinner feeling fresher. Last night, I did. Everything we ate was home grown and only from farms a few miles outside of Savannah. I had the portioned gulf shrimp plate, a veggie platter, and more. Everything was pure and organic and I would suggest it to anyone. Also, best bartender in town. Knows his stuff and made us some fabulous cocktails! I wish I could write more but I was left with no words because of how great my meal was!

Wow, just wow! It's not only a quaint restaurant that supports local farmers but the food is out of this world. I went in thinking I'd get chicken because I'm not a huge red meat fan but when I heard the beaf special (tenderloin) I went with that and was glad I did. It was the best steak I've ever had!!! The smoked, smashed red potatoes were amazing and the green beans simple and cook to perfection. Oh, and I can't forget the fresh bread basket, the cheese plate appetizer and the sweet potato pie for desert. The drinks were great, the food was amazing and the service was top notch. No complaints here! Do not let it being a hotel restaurant keep you away and go hungry!

I had the same experience as E.G. on Thanksgiving night 11/27/14. The hostess was off-putting and rude. She seemed more interested in a table that apparently had some of her friends or acquaintances seated as she would sit and chat with them. She basically looked like she didn't like her job or want to be there, which was distracting and annoying. Our main waitress was actually very nice and connected to us as customers. Our food was heavily salted. The garlic shrimp was overpowered by saline! The seared scallops also had too much brine. Even the French bread was hit with a blast of salt. However, I still give this place 4/5 stars because I believe it was an off night because of the holiday and under that salty layer was some amazingly tasty food!!! The ambience was trendy and clean. Seeing the table of plated food and fresh ingredients in the welcoming open concept entry area felt like we were walking into a homey kitchen preparing a feast! The dining area was simplistic but elegant.

Fun interesting menu. Well made food. Great location. Enjoyable atmosphere. Unusual people. Nothing was outstanding. Portions are solid. Price points are solid. Service was solid. Hostess was cold.

Chef Lauren Teague is a master of farm to table cuisine. Our 2 nights in Savannah were superb because we dined here. Everything we had was beautifully prepared and presented. Fresh distinctive flavored made it clear that Chef Lauren showed she chose every ingredient with great care. The bar attached to restaurant also superb! Do notes Rhys special place if you visit Savannah.

We had dinner her last night and it was phenomenal. We absolutely love the farm to table concept and all organic. We started with the cheese plate that comes with 3 cheeses, fruit, housemade bread crisps, and homemade blueberry preserves. The preserves were absolutely delicious and an awesome complement to the cheeses. My daughter had the cream of chicken noodle soup. It had chunks of fresh vegetables and chicken and was not at all heavy. She had to let us all have some because it was soo good. We then shared the Tenderloin with a bernaise sauce and egg that was accompanied by Kale and a Yukon potato cake. It was perfectly cooked. My husband had the meat and 3 tenderloin. It was also good but not as much as mine. We will definitely eat here again.

My family was looking for a quick place to eat and this restaurant fit the bill! The food is delicious and tastes really fresh. All of their food is from local farms so you know everything is fresh and organic. You must try their cheese plate-delicious!

WARNING: This restaurant is in the Andaz Hotel at the corner of W. Bryan and Barnard, on the side of the square closest to the river, and the only sign is on W. Bryan (you enter the restaurant through the hotel lobby right on the corner). We must have driven around the square and then the block north of the square four times while mapquest kept announcing that we "have arrived!" We finally called the restaurant and told the hostess that we were near 5 Guys and she said they were located on the other side of the square - WRONG! 5 Guys is just at the other end of the block at Barnard and W. Bay Street. We parked in a garage and asked one of the Andaz hotel valets where the restaurant was - duh. Clearly, I am a fan of this restaurant or I wouldn't have provided such detailed directions to the place! Our server was great and the food was excellent. I was sold when I saw that they serve grass-fed beef - who does THAT?!?! I had a delicious and refreshing cocktail (ok, two) and their homemade bread was amazing - especially the garlic bread. My boyfriend ordered the pork belly, which seems to be a thing in the south - he's not that adventurous but thought he should give it a try and it was worth it. I tasted a bite of the pork and it was tender and delicious, but the broth was sublime. I had the "diet special" (not what they called it, of course), which is a nice section of the menu where you get a reasonable portion of protein (3-4oz.) and a couple of vegetables - I had the beef (tenderloin, if I remember correctly) and it was delicious. My daughter had the fried chicken with fruit gazpacho - she loved the chicken but didn't care for the basil in the fruit - I thought it was perfect. Now that you can find it, you should definitely give it a shot!

WOW! The food was out of control delicious, the service was impeccable and they even gave us a toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash and eye makeup remover (because we forgot it) and we were not even guests of the hotel. We wholeheartedly recommend you eat here if you are visiting Savannah.

  • Maili N.

The restaurant is in a hotel and so we didn't know what to expect, but it certainly exceeded expectations. The entire restaurant is just one room, but it was surprisingly quiet - unlike many open restaurants. The service was great and the food was delicious. My husband and I split an appetizer, small plate and entree... that was more than enough food. Would visit again.

On the whole underwhelming, given the positive reviews here. We had the seafood appetizer, which was a platter of deep-fried oysters, calamari, shrimp, and tempura vegetables. Seafood was really over-seasoned, while the vegetables were kind of bland. Entrees. Meats were nicely done. Tenderloin was tender and pink. Cage-free chicken was moist and crisp. However, vegetables were either burnt and/or over-seasoned. Risotto that came with the chicken was way over-salted. Wanted to like this place, but came away disappointed.

We ate here on our last night in Savannah. It is the restaurant inside the Andaz Hotel. Normally hotel restaurants are hit or miss for me, but 22 was good. They have a cheese/fruit plate as well as a sliced meats/pickle plate. We wanted to get one to start and argued over which to get so server substituted a cheese for one of the meats. It was perfect. They also have a lighter menu with a protein and 3 sides. I knew the starter would fill me up so I went with the filet on the lighter option. The server described 3 sides but I only got two unless a small garnish on the steak was considered a side. I also had two dirty martinis. They use salted brine olives instead of the pickled olives a lot of places use. Made it taste fresher. Although I do have to complain that they don't have a good selection of vodka. I asked for the second martini just right as they brought our entrees but it didn't arrive the to table until after I was finished. The server apologized and told me it was on the house for not being ready until after I was done eating. All in all it is a great choice if you like farm to plate (or fork as their slogan says). I would definitely recommend the meat and pickle platter to start. The staff is great and kitchen is open to the restaurant and you can see everything that was brought in fresh from the farmers market.

Very disappointed. Went with my gf for dinner. Bread was good as was the beer but that was about it. The pork loin pea soup tasted like a bowl of salt water. The veggie/ricotta tart was ok but nothing special. The snapper tasted fishy and was a very small portion based on being charged $30.

  • E G.

The waitress greeted our party with annoyance and it didn't get any better. I was looking forward to this meal since the reviews claim that the food is sourced at local farms, but it was difficult to tell because each meal was so doused in salt. From food to fork and service, this was an enormous disappointment.

So this place has ruined me for other dining options, in the best way possible! Exceptional service! I HIGHLY recommend the cheese plate! The bread is to die for as well. We had the Three Meats steak and chicken, sharing each. For dessert we had the pear and figs. Everything was so amazing, I can barely describe it. We will certainly be back. Sorry for no photos, nothing survived long enough! Suffice it to say, presentation and taste were both beautiful!

I had an excellent meal here last night. The service was exceptional which added to the whole experience. I had the chicken soup to start and it was delicious. The noodles really added to its hearty texture and the broth was perfectly balanced. For dinner I went with the shrimp pinot noir risotto with sweet peas. It was excellent. Both dishes were quite hearty, perfect for the chilly evening that was outside. I tried their East of the Hudson cocktail and it was fantastic. A nice breath of orange as you drink it with a surprising smokey cherry aftertaste. All in all a great meal at a great price. Would recommend the place to all who come to Savannah.

We weren't originally going to go to dinner here but we decided that we would give it a try. Man, were we happy! They have a beautiful simple dining area and their menu always changes. Part of the kitchen is visible and some of the ingredients grows in the window. Their menu is organized by what local farm the food has come from and by the portion size. We started with the assorted meat charcuterie, it was delicious. Picked vegetables, savory meats, and this killer peach mash/compote. Then they brought us all these wonderful savory breads, oh my goodness. Finally our entrees. Mine was a classic Caesar salad with pickled radishes and fried anchovies with medium rare steak. Perfect. My friend got their fresh Georgia shrimp and pea risotto. Looked good but I was too focused on my own dinner to tell. We finally decided we couldn't turn down their dessert of sautéed peaches with ginger and honey and walnuts. Oh yum and the ice cream on the side was soooo creamy. Overall it was great, the only downside is that I didn't think to take any photos because the food looked too good to wait for! Lol. GO HERE IF YOU WANT GOOD LOCAL, FRESH FOOD :D

This review is solely based on the bar. We went to check out the sugar coated bacon. I wasn't exactly sure what to expect but the bacon was great! Tasty blend of flavors although a little fatty. The drinks were okay and a little pricey for what we got. Nothing to write home about. The bartender didn't card anyone in our group (we were all early 20s). Interesting, hipster vibe but I probably wouldn't go back.

Delicious food and wonderful value. Four of us dined here at dinner the day after Christmas. We were looking for a farm to table restaurant and expected to pay the requisite higher price for this quality of food. The quality and good prices surprised us. Service was expert. Food is wonderful. Bread is amazing

This is a fantastic restaurant! It is hidden in a boutique hotel, but is no hotel lobby restaurant. First class service, atmosphere and wonderful food. Farm to table, incredibly fresh and flavorful. The ribeye could Be cut with a fork. Nice beer and wine selection. Menu only has 10-15 total items but we tried several on each course and all were great. You won't be disappointed.

Must say Average. 22 Square no doubt has a great view of one of Savannah's reclaimed squares. However, the food was only above average and the wait time for what came out of the kitchen was a bit excessive. Service was slow and our waiter David did his best with a party of 9. The offered some specialty beers and wines on a very limited menu. The food menu was very limited and a bit confusing to the average diner. 2 adults and 3 kids as part of a party of 9 came to $70 as gratuity was added in at 18%. While the staff was nice, and they did comp us some bread w/ humus and chickpeas to tide us over until our entrees came, it was still more $ than what was worth the food and time expended there. Additionally, what detracted from dinner was a table of 4 who were obviously intoxicated and quite rowdy and disruptive. The bartender / waiter should have cut them off and in an effort to not impair the dining enjoyment of others at surrounding tables, had them ''keep it down''. SaleebScore: Food 7/10, Service 7/10... overall 7/10

  • Agnes S.

We liked the atmosphere, and the service was excellent. The home-made bread was also outstanding. But when it came to our entrees, 4 out of the 5 dishes that we ordered were very mediocre. The main problem was that everything was extremely salty, and tasted too strong. Especially the dishes that contained shrimp, but the carbonara pasta was also salty and over-cooked.

If I could give this restaurant more than 5 stars, I would. We discovered this outstanding restaurant on our first visit to Savannah, and we make sure to eat here every time we are in town - it has never disappointed. If you want real, fresh, local food cooked to perfection, then you will love 22 Square. The menu changes often, as the chef cooks what is seasonally available. She is also incredibly accommodating to allergies - my daughter has a severe soy allergy as well as gluten sensitivity, and the chef took care to make sure that her meal was safe, and delicious. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing, and the service has always been great. Go to 22 Square with enough time to enjoy several courses, including the wonderful cheese plate, and save room for dessert! We have eaten at many highly rated restaurants in Savannah, but none of them come close to 22 Square. In my opinion this should be listed as Savannah's number one restaurant.

  • U. F.

Unreal level of local high quality farm to table cuisine. We stumbled upon this place and ended up speaking with the master chef. She trains all her staff by first taking them to the farms to show them where all the food comes from. The menu is based on themes that come from what is available locally (for example 100% grass fed local beef). The vegetable sides are all local and amazingly full flavored. If they can't get it locally, they don't make it. We had an incredible meal here at a very reasonable price. Put simply, this place represents the future of food!

I am a local in Savannah so I have the opportunity to frequent 22 Square often so this review is a compilation of at least 7 visits. First things first. THE COCKTAILS are incredible and artfully prepared with only the freshest mixes and the finest small batch liquors by their very talented bartenders. Their well vodka is better than others house vodka. If you are making reservations to eat at 22 Square Restaurant plan accordingly because you will definitely want to try 1 or even 3 of the pre prohibition craft cocktails. They make their own ginger beer and tonic! If you like Manhattans you need to try the East of Hudson-their award winning version of the classic Manhattan or try the original cocktail the Sazerac. You will not be disappointed. Having ate here multiple times I can tell you everything I've had has been delicious. Most if not all of the menu is locally sourced from the Savannah area. I always start my meal with a cheese and charcuterie plate. The sliced meats are always different and always tasty. Both plates are dressed with house made pickles, preserves, and bread. The Brooklet Georgia Chicken Risotto was rich and creamy and tasted great with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Every night the beef tenderloin is prepared a different way and on both occasions of ordering I fell in love. Pro tips. 1. If you are looking for a nice quiet date night dinner request the dining room. If not I suggest sitting at one of the high top community style tables near the kitchen prep table. Here you are very likely to enjoy a "foody" conversation with the Chef and possibly a treat from a local chocolatier. 2. If you are alone or you are looking for a quick dinner sit at the bar or the lounge area and order the The Ribeye Sandwich from the bartender. It is possibly the worlds best sandwich. There is other options on the bar menu like a hamburger and chicken wings but trust me the sandwich is THE BEST. 3. If you want to try their soon to be world famous Candied Bacon get to the bar before 7 because it will be gone soon after. CONS: Walking into a hotel for dinner or drinks when you aren't staying in the hotel is a little intimidating. I think a second door dedicated to the restaurant would help. The valets dress code is too casual and their attitude is very curt.

  • Hai N.

Despite the restaurant being half empty last night, the server told us, with much attitude, that there was going to be a 15 minutes wait for a table. We took our business to Kayak instead down the street then thoroughly enjoyed dinner and cocktails with the warm wait staff there.

If Scott is the bartender you will be assured that you'll have a great time at the bar. He is the quintessential bartender and his service is delightful. Scott is obsessed with Chartreuse and there's a good chance you'll have a shot in front of you at one point. I don't recommend the Charcuterie.

Based on reviews, we stopped in for dinner while on a road trip. The furnishings are very cool and the staff are friendly yet professional. It was Christmas Day, and they had a special menu. We had: Oysters on the Half Shell served with lemon preserves (nice) and caviar (unnecessary,) Frogmore Stew (decent), and Mahi (kept under the heat lamp too long and had become overdone and dried out) on vegetable pasta (julienne, actually) with a broth (a bit too sweet). The bread in the basket was cold. I wish restaurants would not allow any front of house staff to wear colognes/scents/perfumes.
