BEST deal on raw oysters. $7 per dozen on Mondays and Thursdays only at the bar. They are shipped in fresh those days and are always a generous size. Also, their fish dishes are amazing as well!

A friend and I ate here the other night for dinner. The noise level is like a sports bar without the TVs. The crab balls were good - they look like hush puppies but with shredded crab. The grilled lobster wasn't very good nor were the fried shrimp. The wait staff was either over attentive or not there. We are usually get coffee and dessert people but we couldn't wait to get out of there so we went elsewhere for those items. We definitely won't be going back!

What a great seafood place close to home! I really enjoy the oysters at the bar and the shrimp appetizer. But I have to say my favorite is the fish stew. It's so flavorful and the seafood is NEVER over cooked or chewy. I come here every so often specifically to order it. The ambiance is exactly what you would expect and it can get really crowded at the bar. Not surprising since the cocktails are also pretty good. It's a great neighborhood spot!

Great food, the Greek Salad and Peel and eat shrimp were very good. Ihad the fish and chips which were very authentic English style. Highly recommend.

Since I love great seafood, and had been intrigued by Tin Can for awhile, decided to drop by for paella on Sunday night. When it comes to food, it was close to what I expected...paella had a good amount of shrimp, sausage, and vegetables, but only 3 mussels. Good flavor, great portion size, served in the skillet-pretty impressive so far. The bang bang shrimp was good...a freakishly small portion for $8...but flavorful. The service though? Lackluster would be putting it mildly. My waitress, Ismar(sp?), was surprisingly inattentive. You've got 2 tables, yet you're MIA for 10+ minutes at a time? I've got to flag you down for refills when you visit the folks 2 tables down, because you walk around me? Seriously, bud? Disappointing, though I'll likely stop back in to see if a 2nd visit on a busier night improves my experience.

Came here tonight with my family and am about 99.9% sure I wouldn't return- even If the tab was entirely picked up. Restaurant was near empty and the service and time to order/get food was atrocious. The lights were out in the restaurant and couldn't be turned on. In regards to food- we ordered mussels and got shells, no meat. Sent them back. Many of the orders came out different than as ordered and some of the food was luke warm at best. Although the menu is reasonably priced, you certainly get what you pay for- not much. To be honest, I'm not quite sure how this place stays open. I'll be finding other places to frequent in the area.

Definitely try this place! Atmosphere: Very cute and trendy decor but the lighting is VERY low. It's almost ridiculous! You can't even really read the menu! It isn't a MAJOR problem but it still would be nice to see the people you're eating with Food: We came at 8:30 with 8 people and I can confirm that the majority of our group really enjoyed their food! We had 4 dozen oysters and each shared the Thai mussels and white whine mussels. Oysters are really great and not a squishy mess like how the are usually served. I personally ordered the lobster fettuccine which is literally so amazing. It is a dish with a red sauce and mushrooms and HUGE lumps of lobster that they cook fresh from the tank. The lobster was a tad bit overcooked but I was willing to over look it because of how good everything else tasted. The portion was also very big so I was able to take most of it home A friend of mine got something where it was basically just a grilled lobster cut down the middle and I do believe he payed almost $26 for it but go little to no meat! Don't order this if you are are actually looking to fill yourself up. Get the the Lobster fettuccine or the paella (?) Service: Our waiter had a cheerful attitude and was very attentive. But he did forget to give one of us our card back lol. Simple mistake! Pricing: In total our bill was almost $400. But considering that is the price for 8 people we were only paying an average of $50 per person for a ton of seafood it wasn't too bad. And we did order a lot of food so don't panic of that isn't in your price range They have high and low price options. Come try it! Tips: They do not carry the hard cider Angry Orchard and the lighting is quite dim. This is the perfect place for a casual date or a family get together. It IS kid friendly. Yes it has a bar but that is for the most part separate from dining. Make sure you get your card back!

Yummy!!!! Tin Can is really good. Now, let me start by saying I'm not a huge seafood person. I'm mean it's fine, but I would never crave it. But alas, my boyfriend was craving seafood, so off to Tin Can we went. We started with the mussel pot (the second one on the menu, with the tomatoes). It was so divine! It was so good! Oh my! Excellent, excellent flavors. The broth may be a bit salty for some, but I'm a salty/savory type of girl, so it was spot on for me. When the waiter came back to see if we were done, since there were no more mussels, I screamed, "No!" As in, "Don't take my baby!" I also love the price, only $9 for all those mussels!!! We also got the fried chicken livers. Hmmm, what to say about these? Well, you have to know what liver tastes like to compare it to other liver dishes. I've had fried livers several times, but these weren't the best. The pieces were too big in my opinion, so you got a mouthful of metallic liver flavor, but not enough breading. I think liver is best with small pieces, light, crunchy breading and salt. These were not seasoned very well. Not nearly enough salt. And by not nearly, I mean hardly any. They weren't very good overall. My bf got the blackened salmon, which was really cooked well, and by well I mean moist and flavorful, not well done. Not in the mood for seafood, I got the black and blue burger, which was really friggin good. We both got a side of the sauteed veggies, and they were perfectly cooked and seasoned, but definitely a bit oily. But they didn't need any seasoning at the table. Overall, go! If for nothing else then seafood appetizers and drinks. Mussels were excellent, I want to try them all. The oyster menu will be for next time. Looked amazing.

We were craving seafood and this place popped up on Yelp, so naturally I listened to you all and we stopped in. It definitely was not our worst decision of the night. This place was tucked in a corner of a fairly new Kroger shopping center right off of Roswell. Without you Yelpers, I truly would have never knew this place existed. The feel of the place is rustic dockside that definitely screams seafood joint. On the particular evening we stopped in there was live music, which added to the whole feel in a positive way. Now, down to the good stuff, the food. We started the night off with the crab balls. There were nothing special, but they were executed well and the dipping sauce was yummy. We were both in "fatty mode" so fried seafood is what we had our heart set on and lucky for us, Tin Can has no shortage of such offerings. I opted for the Asian style fried grouper sided with the cheese grits and hush puppies. The fish was breaded with an Asian style panko that had sesame seeds mixed in. It worked very well and was perfectly complimented by the cheese grits. I do wish there was an Asian style dipping sauce for that variety of breading, but the cocktail worked as it normally does. The service was normal, nothing special. It did not detract from the overall experience. The food was good, atmosphere was great and the service was decent. All in all, it was a good visit and I will certainly be back the next time I am craving seafood in this area!

Nonna and I have eaten lunch here three times. She's a fan of oysters on the half shell and Tin Can is close to where she ives. Tin Can is a friend, unpretentious neighborhood place run by the same people who run the taquería next door. Nonna loves the oysters. I'm happy with half a salad and a bowl of seafood stew. I've had the po' boy and it's pretty good, but New Orleans doesn't have to worry about the competition. For dessert, you gotta go with the molten brownie with vanilla ice cream on top. Nonna love her chocolate. Today they were out of browns and we had the trés leches, which was tasty but unlike any trés leches I've ever had anywhere in Latin America. Note to self: stick with the brownie. Service: the young woman (looks like a h.s. student) is shy and has no recommendations. Atmosphere: Tin Can is trying to look like a fish camp. The problem is they've been pretty empty at prime Saturday lunch time each time I've eaten here. I hope they do better at night or they won't be around for long.

It's nice to have a low-key/casual seafood restaurant in the area. A place where you can go like when you are at the beach. We've been two times now. The first time I went, I had the seafood paella. It had what I was expecting: mussels, andouille sausage, shrimp, etc. It did not disappoint. The second time, I went a bit simpler and chose the fried shrimp basket with fried okra and sweet potato tots. I highly recommend getting the sweet potato tots as they are a real treat and something different that you don't easily find at other restaurants.

I went to Tin Can on a Friday around 8:00. Despite the fact that the shopping center it is in was packed I didn't have problems finding a close parking spot or getting a table. I tried the Bang Bang Shrimp as an appetizer which was awesome! The catfish basket was a little disappointing because the catfish wasn't seasoned at all but the accompanying sauces were good, the sides were good, and everything was fresh and hot. Overall it is a great value, has casual and friendly atmosphere, and efficient service. I would definitely come back and/or recommend it to friends.

Seated fast and ordered calamari as an appetizer. Calamari arrived very fast and was great. The catfish was cooked perfectly and had a wonderful taste. My wife ordered the fried shrimp amd they were some of the best we have ever had. Dont miss your chance to get a side of Cheese Grits. Our server chris took care of us from start to finish. We will definitely have to come back and this may be our new favorite Sandy Springs spot. Love the atmosphere.

Ordered couple of entrees off the "Daily Specials", had to send back a very underdone pieced of salmon, TWICE, and it never did get done enough to be cut other than feeling like a raw piece of fish. The vegetable couscous was lacking veggies except four little cubes of carrot. Have been here several times before and seen the quality and crowd diminish each time! Sorry Tin Can, time for recyclying!

Cool atmosphere, trendy, nice service Grouper & sweet potato tator tots very good. Black & Blue burger w/fries cooked medium very good too. Bread pudding & brownie sundae for dessert. Dante out waiter was attentive, knowledgable, and patient with our many questions. Try to get a table in his section. We were here on a Tuesday night, quiet, unhurried and we could linger at our table. We'll be back before we head home.

We ate there on a Saturday afternoon. The food was very good. I had the best fried shrimp that I have had in Atlanta in a long time. the service was very good and the waiter couldn't have been nicer or more friendly. displace obviously has a management problem. the inside of the restaurant and the restrooms were absolutely filthy. it look like a Key West bar on Sunday morning. I might try the place again to see if that was just an off time. they need a major cleaning crew to come through there and clean that place up.

This place has amazing food! My wife and i got the lobster roll, baked oysters, bang bang shrimp, and crawfish tails and cheese grits and it was all delicious. Also, they have a great porch area where you can enjoy eating outside. Don't miss out this place is great!

"Trendy" in terms of decor. Everything else was subpar. They were out of most drinks. One person in my party asked the waitress about the beer, she had no idea about any of the beers. Ordered a whiskey and coke, came out with just whiskey, plus a hair in the whiskey. Sent it back and got my correct drink, but hardly tasted the coke. Food was decent. Over priced for just one piece of fish, fries (which was a smaller amount of fries than a value fry from McDonalds) and cole slaw, which was the worst cole slaw I had ever had. Talked to the manager and she took care of all of our drinks which was nice. She did blame us for not knowing the menu which wasn't explained to us at all. Nice but incompetent people. Manager was nice about it. Over priced, would avoid. Go to any other place.

We walked in and were seated outside. We asked the hostess about specials for oysters. She did not respond and went back inside. She came back out moments later with a cost and no mention of a server. After about 10 minutes the hostess came back outside to seat 2 gentlemen. I asked about the server and she said she would be out momentarily. After another 10 minutes passed, we got up and walked out. As we were leaving, I noticed the 2 guys that had also been waiting were also walking out. I went back in to say they had lost 4 customers due to no service and the hostess just stared at me. I asked for the manager and she did not say a word. I walked over to speak to the manager who apologized but we left and will never go back.

I just love the ambience here....reminds me of being on the Gulf coast beachside....the whole point is not having to drive to the beach for fresh seafood. just all in all a good place, they run specials everyday(food and beverages) and then they do these special events sometimes on weekends. Just a lot of friendly people and good inexpensive food, like a great honky took seafood place should be. I see one ridiculous review on here from a guy I see at the bar like a few times a week, so not clear why someone would keep going back

If you are dying for mediocre fish and shellfish served to you EXTREMELY slowly, congratulations you've found the perfect place! Most of their offerings are fried and nothing on the menu is unique in any way. The prices are fairly cheap, but aren't low enough to match the quality of the food. Servers and bartenders are very inexperienced and poorly trained. Nobody was rude, but the wait for drinks, appetizers, and entrees was really too long. Go elsewhere.

I am living temporarily in the area and was looking for a good place to eat oysters. This is a real find. Seafood is well prepared and tasty. Sit at the bar so you can be treated by Jessica, as she really takes care of her customers. The service is great, food is good and beer is cold.

Just went there for the $6 dozen oyster happy hour special and was very disappointed. The oysters came out "dirty" and I may have chipped a tooth. The "house" hot sauce was presented to us in a used Carona beer bottle with a dirty alcohol pourer on top. Ewww!! Will not be back.

Well the economy must be getting better, Tin Can has raised their prices now they want a whopping $ 15.00 for a fish sandwich. The Sunday Low Country boil went up to, now it is $ 15.00 for one and $ 25.00 for two and has little to no flavor the sausage was so over cooked it was like rubber . Something has happened to the staff they are not as friendly as they were in December. I will miss you .

Inside has a little of a late 90's early 2000's look - wasn't expecting much - but the paella was GREAT and a bargain at only $11 - wife liked the fried shrimp - bang bang shrimp appetizer was just OK - All in all nothing to write home about except the paella - will be ordering that to go rather than making it myself for those chilly football watching afternoons.

I have been here several times and although the food is good, I have a few issues. For starters it is WAY overpriced for the portions, however on Wednesdays they have specials for the oysters (which are always fresh) but it's only for the area seated at the bar, which is tiny and fills quickly with people not eating the oysters. I have gone three different times on Wednesdays and left because the bar was full and not just full, but full of obnoxious, loud, middle-aged dunwoody/sandy springs suburbanites, getting wasted, so why the specials don't extend throughout the whole restaurant is a bit absurd. Secondly, the service sucks, sucks, sucks. The wait staff is slow and inattentive, I have never had an incredible experience here and will not likely not return, I won't be recommending this place for anyone else either, save your money and go else where.

We love this resturant . The oysters are the best and largest in town. I always have the seafood soup full of veggies and lots of seafood. The entrees of grouper er had with a parm crust is to die for. If you are a seafood lover try it. Very casual and they have a nice patio. Try the cole slaw it has a nice kick .

There seems to be a lot of mixed reviews about this place, but from my first visit I have to say that I was impressed. The menu is simple and the prices are very reasonable for a sit down seafood restaurant. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess when we walked in who let us choose the table we wanted to sit at. Our server and a trainee took great care of us the whole time; making sure to explain the menu items, taking our order, bringing us drinks, and keeping us happy. For dinner we started with a 1/2 dozen raw oysters which were very big (and cold), served with horseradish and cocktail sauce. The main course consisted of the horseradish crusted grouper with sides of hush puppies, cheese grits, and fried green tomatoes. All of the food was pretty good. In all, I was impressed and plan to return again to try some other items on the menu.

The food was good, but the service was awful! I think you can find a better seafood experience in Sandy Springs. We went Wednesday at 6:45 with a party of 6, and our waiter was not very attentive. Our salads had practically no dressing on them. And when we asked the waiter to bring more dressing, he still hadn't even taken our real order yet. Naked grouper was good, but fairly small portioned. Jalapeño slaw was good as well. Mixed veggies means all of three thin strips of carrots, three of zucchini and one piece of broccoli. Lighting is awful too! Its pretty hard to read the menus if you have bad eyes.

Easy to find, plenty of parking, and great prices! One thing is lack of attentive service from our server. Very casual place. Check out their specials food items when seated at the bar! FOOD: We started with the Crisp Calamari Fry and Bang Bang Shrimp. The calamari is seasoned and fried with a side of tartar & cocktail sauce, delicious but a small portion. The shrimp is fried shrimp tossed in a spicy spicy chili aioli sauce which is also a small portion. These apps come in small baskets which aren't enough for sharing. For dinner, I had the fried grouper Po Boy which is a large fried fish sandwich with slices of tomato. The side of cole slaw is refreshing and bed of shoestring fries are plentiful. For $9 the meal is definitely worth the money! Throughout the our meal, we had to flag down our server many times, even though the restaurant was not busy. I'd definitely come back as the locals know about their specials since the bar area was full!

YES! We found good, cheap seafood in Sandy Springs! Kevin P. and I discovered Tin Can Fish House last week on a random Wednesday night. We started off with a bucket of "Trailer Trash" brews. For only $8 you get four, 16 oz. beers of your choice. We opted for Coors but hipsters can get PBR. THAT'S 64 OUNCES OF BEER FOR $8!!!! To accompany our Trailer Trash brew bucket we started off with a few dozen oysters. They were pretty much on par for oysters this far inland. We followed up with a tasty fried shrimp basket. The fries and slaw were adequate. The slaw recipe would be much better using vinegar instead of mayo but I'm biased being raised by parents from the Carolinas. Kevin P. and I will definitely be going back for cheap beer and good oysters.

Great food, atmosphere, and service. A little bit hole in the wall and perfect for a casual dinner out. My date had the paella and loved it. The server noted that it was his favorite item on the menu. I had the shrimp and oyster po boy and it was downright delicious. Packed with fried shrimp and oysters on a really great chewy roll. The only complaint I have is that the po boy came with mediocre fries and slaw and you couldn't substitute another one of their sides. They had a lot of great looking side alternatives so I wish they allowed that. In the end, the sandwich portion was so large that I still left full. Will definitely return. We ate outside on their patio (no heat lamps) but they had tvs inside so I think it would be a great place to watch sports as well. They also have great beer prices. Our server was very friendly, as was the hostess who seated us.

It was a bit hard to find this place, but it is in the Kroger Plaza across from Whole Foods (on Hammond). It's in the same plaza as World Peace Cafe, you just need to keep driving around to the back where all of the other stores/restaurants are. This place is very cozy and small. When you walk in, you are facing a bar, which is always good. :) It's not super fancy and it's very affordable. Our server made awesome recommendations. I love fish and asked her what her favorite was: Grouper with Horseradish crusted. At first it didn't sound delightful to me because I'm not a huge fan of horseradish. But I've always been against asking for someone's suggestion and not taking it, so I got it. It was amazing!! You cannot taste the horseradish at all and they some how kept the fish very moist and tasty!!! We also ordered two dozen oysters as well: one dozen Mignonette and onen dozen Bloody Mary. I liked the Bloody Mary ones better, as it had more flavor, but they were both good. I would definitely want to come back here and try more of their menu items. I highly recommend this place!

My husband and I went here for date night. They were out of the beer we wanted. The food was o.k. We had an appetizer platter with ahi tuna ceviche, bang bang shrimp, and crab balls. The shrimp was probably the best, although no one was a favorite. We then shared a cod fish & chips, the two piece. Disappointed to see that the two fish were different sizes one only half the size the other. It was a descent meal, but don't know if we'd come back. Our waitress was nice and attentive.

The service is great! The menu is screwed up! The can not figure out if they have platters or not and the starters almost the same price as entrée! As for food, everything is about good as captain D's fast food except for the grit are very good!!

A group of four of us went here for the first time last night. Quick seating and laid back atmosphere. Service was very good for the most part. A couple gaffes with drink orders and understanding what we actually wanted to order. Portions are pretty good sized, nothing small. Chicken liver appetizer filled up the entire basket and entrees were pretty big. I got the blackened shrimp po-boy. Sandwich was okay, bread was lousy (not the crusty french style for poboys) and shrimp was pretty bland. Sweet potato tots were okay but lacked seasoning and cole slaw was tasty but should have been chopped a bit finer and a bit less watery. Fish and chips were a success from what I saw but the "fresh catch" of the day was a puny looking piece of grouper that did not look like grouper. It was not think and was really bland. At the end of the day this is one of those typical Atlanta restaurants that show off a good game but the overall delivery falls short of expectations and the price point. Not worth more than a 5 minute drive if you're hankering for seafood but plenty of better options in the metro area.

My seafood "go to" place. They have great oysters. Thursday night they are half price. The paella is awesome. I have to get mine with crawfish 'cause I'm allergic to shrimp. Chris Ann always remembers not to put shrimp in it. The horseradish encrusted grouper is another favorite. Get it with fried green tomatoes. On Saturdays I go up there and get La La (Laura) to order me the blackened grouper poboy. The cole slaw is the best I have had. The owners Artie and Nick are almost always there. And always have a kind word. I leave full and satisfied.

As a regular of Teela Taqueria, I really wanted to like this place. In fact, in spite of some of the reviews on here, I decided to go anyway and give this place a fair shot, but all in all, it was pretty disappointing. There were two of us and we ordered the platter with soft shell crab sliders, conch fritters, and the ahi tuna ceviche, as well as the Thai muscles to start since it sounded like quite a lot of food (and was priced as such). In addition to the meal, I also ordered a Rogue Mocha Porter (which is oddly listed on the menu as a dark ale) to drink which is always tasty. The crab sliders were pretty decent and had some of what I'm assuming was the bang bang shrimp aioli on top. All in all this was about what I'd expect, though maybe more than just 2 would be a better portion. The conch fritters were bizarre. I've spent a fair bit of time in the Caribbean and these were not exactly what I was thinking. I'm betting there was some sort of cheese mixed in there or something, but I digress. I won't go as far as to say they were bad or anything but mouth watering isn't exactly how I'd describe it. I love a good ceviche, and this one was nothing short of it. The flavors worked well and if it would have been in a bigger bowl with more than 8 crackers, I would have been much more thrilled. And now for the part of the meal which had me just irritated; the muscles. To be honest, I don't remember the last time I had even seen such small muscles; not even in a fish market under the cheapest tier. Personally, if I was running the restaurant, I would be embarrassed to sell these things. The idea that someone made a conscious decision to either buy them, or not send them back when they got the shipment in baffles me. On the upside, the Thai sauce was tasty. Since we were still hungry after eating all that, the decision was made to order some oysters which actually turned out to be the highlight of the meal. We went for the baked and bloody mary ones, and they were nothing short of fantastic. Had I known just how good the oysters were, I wouldn't have bothered with the other stuff (and saved quite a bit of money in the process). Tin Can seriously needs to rethink their portions, and the idea that this place is run by the same folks who do Teela Taqueria surprises me greatly. The food over there is so much better, proper portions, and better prices. If I go back here (and I'd be pretty surprised if I do), I'm going strictly for the oysters and will avoid the rest. tl;dr: Great oysters, everything else was blah and the portions were not in any way indicative of the prices.

I love Tin Can. The food is great. Definitely better food and a better value than Coast or the Big Ketch. The oyster special on Monday and Thursday is the best deal I've found. when you go, sit at the bar. Always wonderful, friendly people to talk to.

We come to Tin Can about once a month. Never had a stellar experience, but it's been good enough to keep coming back. The food is good but the service is eh. Tonight is the last time we will go. Asked for a blue margarita, which we have had here before, and got a regular margarita. When we said something to the waitress the bartender looked irritated that we said something. She came over a few minutes later all wide eyed and aggressive and offered to poor blue curacao in our drinks (this is what makes it blue and tasty). Lady, we are paying for food and drinks. The least you could do is be pleasant and do your job properly and at least pretend to be nice. Service itself was so so.

Went here the other night for a family Sunday dinner. My kids were in town from New York so we needed a good spot that my gram would like but was also sufficiently kid friendly. We started out with a platter to split as an appetizer. Gram also ordered raw oysters as her appetizer. The platter had fried calamari, fried clam strips and crab "balls" which were mini crab cakes. Everything was good but I liked the calamari the best. Crab "balls" were merely so-so (I have had better) but I am glad I tried them. For my entree I ordered a platter with fried soft shell crab sliders, fried calamari, and cheese grits with blackened crawfish tails. I enjoyed everything I got on my platter; however, I wasn't completely won over. Perhaps a bottle of hot sauce would have put me over the top in the enjoyment level / overall experience. Maybe if I had some beer also. But I want to return and try other stuff. Kids were happy with their clam strips. Everyone else enjoyed their meals. Gram was happy and she is a very tough customer so this point to me speaks volumes. Service was great. The bar looked enticing and busy. I will come back.

One of my pet peeves are fried oysters that are hard as rocks, which is the only way so many places seem to be able to cook them. Not here. I asked for lightly fried and that's exactly what I got - meltingly tender mollusks with just the right amount of breading. Exactlly the way I like them. Others at our table were extremely pleased with the baked oysters with garlic jalapeño butter and topped with parmesan cheese and the Thai-influenced mussels steamed in coconut milk, ginger, lemon, cilantro, etc, Oddly, this place also offers another of my favorites, fried chicken livers, and again, I asked them to go easy on the frying. Result? The livers were the best I've had in a long while. One negative is if you are going to offer jalapeno slaw, there should be more jalapenos in it. It was bland. Staff is very friendly and quite helpful. All four of us who dined there this weekend plan to return.

The shrimp Po Boys were excellent. We ordered them without the oysters. The go go shrimp were outstanding, you get approx 8 good sized ones. The bruschetta was excellent for what you would expect from a hole in the wall bar/restaurant. All in all my wife and I were thoroughly pleased. Best dive in Sandy Springs

When it comes to catering large groups this place has to be the worst I've been to so far. I placed an order for raw oysters and of out 15 plus people I have not received them. Even as I type this review they aren't here. Every cooked order is out. If you come here as a couple or alone your experience can be better. The waiters are good but the management staff should not have one person manning a group so large. By the time my oysters arrive they were warm. I really looked forward to having a good time at this place. I requested the manager and they never came. I ended up working something out with our waiter. I don't I think I will return to this place.

warm oysters + "Madagascar Prawns" + warm oysters = Never Again! Friends.... I believe this will be my first 1-star review. Here goes Madagascar prawns that were, I shit you not, 15-20 sized shrimp. That's 15-20 shrimp per pound. Google madagascar prawns and see what you come up with. That's not what we received. To add insult to failure, they butterflied the shrimp! We couldn't get to a good bit of the meat that was stuck on the shell. Who serves oysters with no ice? This place does.... If I were an Englishman, this place would be complete bullocks... I know my seafood. Not "my mom used to cook seafood for us back in the day" type shit. I mean Venice Louisiana crabbing, shrimping, catfishing, oyster and clam digging cajun here. This place is not it.... Service was decent.... f*ck it I'm done. I'm actually getting pissed of typing this review.

Been back 3x now. It just keeps getting better. No matter what time... Sunday afternoon down time or packed Saturday night, food is consistently awesome. Run, don't walk, to this great place.

This was the first non-chain spot we found upon moving to the A. The service was fast and friendly, the food was good, and the place was nice and quiet (4pm on weekday, toddler in tow). Neither I nor my hubby usually eat other peoples coleslaw, but this was different from the usual mayo monster attack. The fries leave something to be desired, but I just prefer something ... wider...like a steak fry. This is our seafood spot now.

The Tin Can Fish House has a great local feel. The staff are super friendly and make an effort to remember your name. My favorites are the grouper and steamed mussels. They also have an interesting selection of wines. Being an out-of-towner, this has become my favorite place to visit while working in the Atlanta area.

Good Local Seafood joint in Sandy Springs. Some of the best ceviche' in town. Do NOT order a hamburger here. The last time I tried, I asked for Medium, it came to me literally Raw in the center. I sent it back ( much to my dismay) & it came back well done. You have the option of also ordering food from their Sister Restaurant / Teela Taqueria next door if you aren't feeling the menu and are with someone who is. Just ask!! Overall, good review though. Great drinks & a good variety of options for seafood. VERY friendly helpful Service, KrisAnne is a great & entertaining Bartender. Catch her in the Afternoon--Evening Shift on Thursday. She'll keep you laughing.

food is good. bar service is terrible. I mean the worst service of any bar I have ever been. The bartender is slow, doesn't smile and makes you want to run out....which I did.

Service was great and everyone was very friendly. Oysters, shrimp and the Tin Can Salad were all delicious. The only disappointment was the soft shell crab sandwich - the crab just wasn't that great. But, everything else was great and we will go back.

It was a little tricky to find, as it is located in the back corner of the shopping center that holds the Kroger and Meahans. I was drawn in by the Thursday 25 cent oysters, but was pleasantly surprised on all accounts. I called first to make sure that the deal was active, and inquired how busy the bar was. Bartender Chris-Anne is a superstar; she told me the specials and restrictions for the night and reported that there were seats opening up shortly. It was just as she had said, when I arrived thirty minutes later: two bar seats open and a table in the bar leaving. The idea of this place seems to be well-pepared fish in a very simple environment. Five or six preparations that can be applied to several types of fairly common but high quality fish (catfish, shrimp, tuna, etc...) They "dump" the place up by selling tall boy cans of low quality beer: Old Milwaukie, PBR, Schlitzs, and my personal fav: bottles of the "high life". The wine list is simple but has several inexpensive winners. Back to business: I was here for oysters. They arrived as promised, with twelve on the plate, a stack of crackers from the value pack, and some not-so-spicy cocktail. For all of you who think this is an insult, it's not. I rarely eat the crackers, and the half-stale version that is not individually wrapped, helps me to focus on the shellfish and not make oyster sandwiches. The "red sauce" was as it should be mild with a clump of horseradish to make it as spicy as you like. (If it's still not enough, request more horse or pour in some hot sauce: that is why they give it to you.) The shape of the shell and the size tells me these were probably gulf oysters; the brine (seafood liquid in the shell) usually helps me in placing where they come from. These had been shucked earlier in the day so there was no brine to assist me. (I know many of you are too snooty to eat pre-shucked, but you can't serve fifty dozen oysters without preparing in advance, unless you want to wait two hours for your food. The oysters filled the shell, the bottom muscle was still attached, to keep the oyster in a healthy, happy state, and they were clean tasting with slight sweetness. For 25 cents, I don't think it gets any better (The Derby used to have better 25 centers, but that was pre BP-Gulf, and they were losing money.) Highlight of the meal was toss-up between great wine help from CA the bartender and her picks for the appetizers on the combination plate($17). I knew before asking that I would be having the tuna ceviche which not only was a large (8oz?) portion, but had chunks of avocado which is my favorite accompanyment for tuna (mango on hawaiian style is second best). CA convinced me to eat crab balls (small balls of fried crab cake), and I was headed towards shrimp and grits until she pushed me towards the soft-shell sliders. Great move. They my have been the best I've had. Cooked perfectly with the crab still juicy, but cooked enough so as not to be runny. Surprising since the crab is cut in half to fit on slider bun, legs folded carefully underneath so as not to fall out during monster bites. Wine-wise I started with Jargon Pinot Noir and then moved to a blend from 14 hands. Both were great and a real value at $7 and $7.50, respectively; But if you decide on the Jargon look at the color of it before your first sip: bright ruby color is like few I have seen. Great place, lots of fun and hope Chris-Anne is there to take care of you.

This place has the food of a dive bar and the decor of an Applebee's. But it's pretty decent food (I had the lobster roll with fried okra and fried green tomatoes) esp if you go for the Lobster Fest on Tuesdays.

Loved this place, it is in a very cool shopping area, very neat and modern. Lots of parking space with plenty of other shops and bars next door. Great patio area outside, very cool relaxed modern vibe on the inside, we loved how everything was painted and decorated !! Bang Bang shrimp was excellent !! I had the blackened grouper sandwich, I am not a big coleslaw fan, so when I state that this is one of the BEST coleslaws I have ever had, that is saying something !! I did not like how you are not allowed to subside other sides, that is ridiculous, I am not a French fry person, but the shoe string fries where good. My husband ordered a lobster roll and was extremely impressed that it was not gobbled with mayo !! He loved the sweet potato tots and the hush puppies where good too. Great selection of beer and great prices !!! Tuesday's is lobster day with lots of lobster specials !!!

Can't wait to eat here again. Hubby and I came with our two kids (ages 7 & 10). We all left happy. Started with raw oysters for the adults (very fresh tasting) and mussels for the kids. The kids devoured the mussels and will probably be what my son gets for his entire meal next time, they were soooo good. Daughter and I both had Mahi Mahi (mine blackened and hers "naked"), and ate every bit of it. The cheese grits were not quite southern style...but I still thought they were tasty. The fries were a surprise in that they were very good. I think of french fries as a plate-filler, but everyone at the table enjoyed them. Hubby and I LOVED the jalapeño Cole slaw. Hubby says his soft shell crab was very good. For me, the atmosphere often determines if I feel like returning somewhere, and on this night, the staff was so attentive and friendly and it just has a cozy feel.

Good and cheap. Almost enough said. Just there on Wednesday which is $5 burger night. Huge burger with lots of fries. Monday and Thursday are $5/dozen oyster nights. They draw large crowds but not me as I dont like oysters. The regular menu is great. Especially like the grouper sliders and Catfish po-boy. Very nice and efficient service, especially Chris Ann. You can get tall boys for $4. This place draws a mostly neighborhood crowd but the quality of the food and prices make it well worth visiting.

Tin Can Fish House and Oyster Bar, located in City Walk in Sandy Springs, has replaced the now defunct Teela Italiano, although ownership remains the same. Tin Can and its next door neighbor, Teela Taqueria, are both owned by brother and sister team Nik Panagopoulos and Arte Antoniades. After shutting for a minimal amount of time, the space has been totally revamped to take on the fish shack kind of look. I was invited to attend the media preview of Tin Can Fish House last month. The always amazing Caleb Spivak, @whatnowatlanta and I were joined by two of my peeps for a seafood feast. Looking around Tin Can Fish House, I recalled past visits to Florida with its waterfront cafes. If the decor doesn't make you feel like you just stepped off the boardwalk, the food sure will. We kicked things off with some oysters, Thai mussels, calamari and my favorite, Bang Bang Shrimp. The general consensus was that the oysters, (we sampled both raw and fried), were so-so, which was slightly disappointing as it does have the word Oyster in the name. The mussels with the cilantro-curry-coconut flavor were a crowd-pleaser and the Bang Bang shrimp, which I've had in taco form at Teela Taqueria next door, was also a delicious start to our meal. My only regret is that we didn't order the Ahi Tuna. After talking to several other diners that evening it seemed to be the most-liked appetizer. Tin Can Fish House has Po Boys, all priced at $9, should you stop in for lunch or want something light, but we were complete gluttons each ordering a fish entree (choices are Mahi-Mahi, Tilapia, Grouper, Cat Fish, Cod, Salmon) which came with two sides plus an additional 1/2 pound of prawns for the table. We had a fair sampling of the fish, all prepared perfectly, of which the blackened grouper (pictured below left) was the most tasty with my Mahi-Mahi (below right) a very close second. Of course, you have your choice of fish preparation. While I highly recommend the blackened route, there's also the sweet chili glaze, Horseradish crusted and the always popular fried. We were all in agreement that mains were much better than starters. Being as two of our appetizers and a couple sides we ordered were fried, it was probably a wise decision for us to NOT have our fish fried as well. The fried green tomatoes I ordered were pretty bland, but the okra and sweet potato tots were quite tasty. Prices are very reasonable at Tin Can Fish House with sandwiches only $9 and entrees around $13. Stop in and check out them out soon.

Love this place! It was truly a surprise and a delight. Being a lover of seafood - fish especially - I have these cravings that are just not always met by Atlanta, depending on what part of town I'm in. But yes, this is a winner for Sandy Springs. The taste is fresh and reminds me of being up north by the shore (to which I'm accustomed). The coleslaw is homemade with green peppers - tasty. The fish I had was catfish, lightly fried - tasty. The fries were shoe string (I like them thicker usually) but still - tasty. The side salad had gorgonzola cheese, walnuts and cranberries (or something sweet like that), lightly dressed with something balsomic-like - tasty. AND the hush puppies were - tasty. And all of the plates that came out for other tables - of course I had to look - looked tasty and I'm sure it was - tasty. So, go get your tasty on at this place!

From the owners of Teela Taqueria next door comes Tin Can Fish, a casual seafood joint. The best thing I ever ate here was the Crawfish Tails & Grits. Delicious is an understatement. It has lots of huge, plump crawfish tails that are so flavorful served atop creamy grits. Too bad it only comes in appetizer portions. I also liked the Bang Bang Shrimp. The shrimp are coated in tempura batter then drizzled with sweet-spicy chili aoli sauce. Oh, and make sure you get the sweet potato tots.

OK, after some friends tried this place and liked it, I decided to pull the trigger and drive down from Gwinnet this past Saturday with the family. We are big seafood lovers, and the possibility of a new seafood place will bring us running. First the good. The restaurant was nicely decorated, maybe a bit dark, but nice all the same. Our waitress was awesome. She must have been from Australia or New Zealand, as everything she said was "No worries" and "Mate". Besides just being a real sweatheart of a person, she was also very attentive. From what I could tell she had the whole restaurant as her tables. It wasn't that busy, which seemed odd to me for 6:00 - 7 p.m. on a Saturday. We ordered fish fingers for the kids. $5 for fried fish sticks, fries and a soda seemed very fair, and the kids loved the fish. I ordered the blackened mahi. The fish was fresh, but it was terribly underseasoned, and the presentation wasn't thought out. It lacked something, maybe a sause, or just more blackeninig? My sides were fried green tomatoes and sweet potato tots. The tots were awesome, the green tomato's were bland, bland, bland. Again, where's the sauce/seasoning? My wife got a sampler platter. She enjoyed the crawfish grits, but the calamari was bland (again), but the clam strips were OK. All and all not bad food. Now comes the bad. You could hear the chefs argue with the waitress about if her table ordered hushpuppies. Tacky. Oh, and the hushpuppies. After reading good reviews here I ordered some. We ended up waiting 20 minutes because "a fresh batch was being made". I happened to spy one of the short female cooks running in the door with a Kroger bag that she placed on the counter. I watched the chef take out FROZEN KROGER HUSHPUPPIES and heard them as they were dropped in the fryer. So I waited 20 minutes for someone to run to Kroger? When they came out the outside was cooked fine, but the inside was mushy. This is because they were frozen, and the insides couldn't cook as fast as the outside. Yes, the fish is fresh here, but there isn't any magic in the preperation, and these are not real chefs. How easy is it to make your own hushpuppies?

We had a lovely experience. Had the grouper sandwich (ask for the sauce on the side - an you may want to choose cocktail for a healthier option). Fresh bread, great fries - - we also had great oysters on the half shell. GOT KIDS? This place is great - they serve Shirley Temples! A huge hit for the little ones - overall, we'll be back. The staff was SUPER great!

Great experience! Very friendly staff. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Mussels in Thai sauce was insanely yummy. Wanted to drink it up! Be warned though, it is rather spicy. Fried shrimp was tender. The prices are reasonable. I had a great glass of wine for $7. Fried Oysters were the only thing we tried that was not a hit. (good fries but mine were room temp). Definitely try it out.

I would give it 3.5 stars if I could. Parts of the dinner were wonderful, and parts were underwhelming. I went on a Saturday night for dinner, and it was busy, but not overwhelmingly so. The service was slow and our server, though sweet, was not at the top of her game. We started dinner with the conch fritters, which were too salty and over-all a mediocre starter. However, the new thing we ordered was the baked oysters, and they were fantastic! I honestly wish we had skipped the fritters and done a full dozen of the oysters instead! For dinner we split the fried oyster basket and added a side of the spicy fried green tomatoes. Once again, the oysters were great. However the cocktail sauce was so weak we though it was katsup and I don't know how anyone could qualify those fried green tomatoes as spicy. All together, I would suggest this place if you're in the mood for oysters, as they were wonderful. Aside from that, they were a little pricy and rather bland.

Its hard to find good, fresh seafood that isn't crazy expensive this far from the coast. This seafood is fresh and very reasonably priced. They have a full bar and a good selection of beers (even have my favorite- Rolling Rock). The best thing I have had here is the conch fritters- yummy. The appetizers are all good. Don't care for the Caesar salad- it's just a huge piece of romaine lettuce not chopped and it doesn't have Caesar dressing, but some kind of spicy vinaigrette. You can order the fish fried, grilled, blackened, or Cajun. I had fried catfish and was disappointed. It was very bland and clear that neither the fish or the batter had been seasoned at all. I would recommend getting one of the po'boys or fish that is grilled. The clam chowder, although not the best I have ever had, was good. They have good service and they also have a large patio. All in all, if you are up this way and looking for some good, fresh, not too expensive seafood, I would recommend this place.
