I have ordered sandwiches from this place approximately one week ago and loved and enjoyed them a lot. However, I ordered two more sandwiches from this place today and ate over there today. The service is excellent and quick. Their Banh Mis are absolutely flavorful and are a true delight. The interior is nothing fancy or impressive at all. I have ordered Banh Mi sandwiches from this establishment before. I have thoroughly enjoyed them a lot. Their Banh Mis are absolutely flavorful and are a real true delight. They always do provide excellent and quick service to all of their own customers. I came to dine here at around 12:30 pm today. I placed my order for two Banh Mi Sandwiches. I waited no more than five to ten minutes for my two Banh Mi Sandwiches. After downing down the first Banh Mi sandwich, I decided that I would save the other one for later and just took it back home with me. One to two hours later after I had consumed that first Banh Mi sandwich, I started to have severe stomach cramping and started to have really really bad runs (diarrhea). I do believe that the pork that they have used for my pork Banh Mi sandwich was approximately a couple of days old after the "use by" date and was most likely not fresh. I have never gotten sick from eating a Banh Mi Sandwich before. However, after having a Banh Mi Sandwich from this establishment today, I am going to be a hell of a lot more careful about where I purchase and obtain my Bahn Mi sandwiches from, from now on. The reason why I am giving this establishment a one star out of five stars is only because I have gotten sick from eating their Pork Bahn Mi sandwich today. I sincerely hope that whoever reads this and decides to get and eat food from here, will do so extreme caution. Today is my last and final time that I will be frequenting this establishment. I honestly and truly wanted to become a normal regular here at this place, but after today...that will not happen at all. Today is my last and final time here. I will not be coming back here at all ever again.

We had the special everything, thit nuong (grilled pork), and chicken. It was good but needs to be consumed on the spot or the same day. The bread didn't last well until the next day.

Huy's Sandwich in Gwinnett?? Oh, yessss!!! I've always been a fan of Banh Mis (Vietnamese Sandwiches). Growing up, the place to go for tasty Banh Mis was/is Quoc Huong, located on Buford Highway. It wan't very convenient for my family to travel 30 minutes just to buy the sandwiches at Quoc Huong. Not to mention the fact that they only take CASH! I never have cash on me. Ahah. Let's get back with Huy's Sandwich. The place is very small, with limited seating inside. I was knocked out when I saw that they have 16 options for Banh Mis. What the?? How in the world can you get 16 options? Oh well, they did try to find a way around it, and I do congratulate them. I'm not planning on trying all 16 options. I've been coming here a few times (5 at most). I've tried a few of their Banh Mis. For example the Banh Mi Ba Te Xiu Mai & Banh Mi Thit Nuong (BBQ). After tasting the Banh Mis for a few times I have to say it's not as tasty as Quoc Huong Banh Mis. Huy's sandwiches are good, but I feel like there is something missing in the ingredients. The Banh Mi Ba Te Xui Mai from Huy's is too wet, and saturated, and the BBQ sandwich meat was just weird. Huy's sandwich is definitely closer and yes, they do accept credit cards. I'm okay with getting Sandwiches from here, but if I do have a chance to come down to Bufford Highway, then Quoc Huong it is. Other than the Sandwiches, everything else is pretty decent. The drinks are good. Overall, I would definitely come back here since it's a lot closer and more convenient, but my heart still lies within Quoc Huong. By far, Quoc Huong is is the best Banh Mi in not just Atlanta, but Georgia. Would I recommend this place? Yes!

Came here a few weeks ago and ordered six pork banh mi and added a fried egg on them! It was pretty darn good, but I can't seem to like any other place than Quoc Huong in asian square. The gentleman at the counter was very nice and helpful. They have so many goodies to try there like waffles, smoothies and vietnamese desserts. Don't get me wrong, it was a good quality banh mi, but I just feel like Quoc Huong is my number one favorite. This would probably be second. Since I live closer to huy's, I'll probably frequent this place more. I definitely want to try their other items!

JUST FOUND MY HOLY GRAIL BANH MI PLACE. We stopped by here after finding out VN Tofu had ran out of sandwiches on a Monday night (Really VN Tofu? Really?). It's located in the shopping center on the right behind Hong Kong market off Jimmy Carter Rd. Very unimpressive interior and exterior. Definitely an order and go place. They did have 3 tables set up with some chairs if you needed a sit down area. We were greeted by an older man and woman who I presume were the shop owners. They were very sweet and made recommendations such as opting for the #16 special versus the #1 since it had more meat for only 50 cents more. BEST DECISION EVER. We ordered 6 banh mi to go due to their buy 5 get 1 free special (That every banh mi shop seems to have). We got 3 each of the BBQ pork and the #16 special which contained a bunch of cold cuts. I was surprised to see the BBQ pork didn't have the red tint due to food coloring that a lot of the other shops do. It was delish! Flavoring was not too sweet and it had a good smokiness to it. Now, the reason why I am so freaking pumped for this place. The #16 special was freaking phenomenal. The pate was on-point and they also use some sort of other sweet sauce that was just a flavor explosion in your mouth. I cannot believe I'm writing this much about a freaking sandwich but it was THAT good. The veggies were also fresh and perfectly complimented the saltiness of the meats. Price ranged from $3 to $3.50 for the #16 special. And yes, they had SIXTEEN different types of banh mi sandwiches, just like VN Tofu. I'm pretty sure they used the same sign makers too. This place also had a few more to-go food options, but it was pretty sparse when we got there about an hour before closing. I saw signs for banh bao (pork buns), fried tofu, sesame balls, and various kinds of rice cakes. They also had some desserts and cakes in a glass display. From this looks of it, this is a very small local business that I am very happy to be supporting.

Um... wow. $2.50 buys you a lot here... A lot of yumminess. I had the pork and the chicken - hey, I had no idea these things were going to be that big. I love Bahn Mi. Love Love Love it. And they do them justice here. I had lunch here and ate outside at one of the two table they have set out. It was really good, a little more bread than I would like, but really flavorful and gone so om nom fast. The guy behind the counter suggest the pork and I took it. YAY ME!!! I don't live near there, but I will go OTP to eat here.
(4)Michael G.
These are the best banh mi sandwiches in the Atlanta area. They're fresh, cheap, fast, and delicious. $3 for most sandwiches, with the exception of the special combination. I recommend the #9 (grilled pork), but honestly, you're gonna be happy with anything on the menu. Explore, get a couple different sandwiches to go, and figure out which one you love!
(5)Victoria G.
I've tried most of the different sandwiches they offer here, and the best to me is the xiu mai and thit nuong. Thit nuong is even better if you ask them to put a fried egg on it! This place always has other random small snacks and dishes, their banh bao (steamed bun things) was my favorite side thing to get. The only thing that makes this place not perfect is the drinks... The smoothies are no bueno and the tapioca is like rocks, these obviously aren't their focus/speciality... so it's not a biggie.

Tried Huy's today for the first time and I'm obsessed! I got the Shrimp Vietnamese Sandwich with no jalapenos and a steamed dumpling! Both the sandwich and dumping was so full of flavor. The sandwich had cilantro, shredded carrots, green onions, a delicious sweet sauce on it on freshly baked bread! The veggies were so fresh! The sand wich was made in under 5 minutes. Huy also suggested I try the pork sandwich, which I will probably try the next time I go in. If a sandwich is not your thing, they have other classic Vietnamese ready to eat dishes and pastries. These all looked and smelled so delicious.I will try one of these when I come back. The steamed dumplings were in this section and they were HUGE! The dumpling was so delicious that I shouldve got a 2nd one. $5 goes very far at Huy's!

Wow is all I can say really! Ordered two of the #8 BBQ Pork banh mi sandwiches. Wth? What happened to actual real BBQ pork? The real meat? Instead got slices of bbq pork HAM with a majority being FAT? Fat? Really!? Gross! I was disappointed! After hearing all the good reviews, i had high expectations. Oh well, maybe I'll give this place a second try next time. I also got two orders of their boba drinks (one boba thai tea and the other the boba milk tea). Boba Thai tea was ok. The boba milk tea was not so good. The boba milk tea at MINGs BBQ is way tastier and flavorful. But not here.

I specifically asked for the meatball sandwich and the guy behind the counter strongly suggested the pork sandwich. I declined and went with the meatball sandwich. What I ended up with, was something that looked and smelled like dog food. It wasn't even in the shape of meatballs! I'm at Chick-fil-A now! It wasn't even worth arguing over the three dollars. Never again!

I had to get out of the house for an afternoon while my landlord made some repairs. I was low on money and trying to figure out how to best spend my time when the greatest idea occurred to me, banh mi tasting tour! I visited Lee's Bakery (Duluth), Quoc Huong (Buford Highway), and Huy's off Jimmy Carter. They were all good, but unfortunately I visited Huy's first and that set the bar too high for the rest. The French bread is perfectly chewy. The meat (I got the #9 grilled pork) is well seasoned, not sweet like the other places, nor does it seem to be artificially colored like at Lee's. The veggies and buttery mayo spread bring it all together. I have been back to Huy's several times now and it has remained my favorite. The sandwiches are $3 each, and I was surprised that the ones that I brought home really held up well in the fridge--even the next day! I've since tried the grilled beef and shredded chicken. Both were good, but the #9 remains my favorite. I tried one of their desserts, a combo of banana, sticky rice, and bean and though I have liked Vietnamese desserts in the past, this didn't do it for me. The restaurant seems mainly geared toward take-out, but there are a few tables and chairs if you want to enjoy your sandwiches there. The staff is also very friendly and will make great suggestions -especially if you look a bit overwhelmed by all of the banh mi choices! I highly recommend!

As a non-meater, it's kind of difficult for me to find a good lunch spot near my office. I'm so glad I stumbled across Huy's. I can get a vegetable banh mi sandwich and chips for under $5, and be completely satisfied until dinner time. The guy behind the counter (Huy?) is so super nice and quick. They have a great avocado bubble drink, too. It's a bare bones operation, but one that deserves a visit.
(5)Karly G.
I don't understand why we can't order sunny side up eggs in our banh mi anymore. I love ordering that for breakfast but now they scrambled the hell out of the eggs and makes the whole sandwich soggy. Ughh... And why can't we have grilled pieces of chicken rather than shredded chicken? It's so dried and chewy. Anyways, this place is not bad. Very nice people, very welcoming and friendly.

Ranked in order of tastiness.... BBQ beef- delicious, tangy BBQ beef can't go wrong here this was my favorite out of all sampled. Chicken- awesome, with a bit of slaw on top, I think this is my favorite chicken bahn mi in the area. Fish- I was expecting a filet, but the fish was more like smoked/ and or canned variety, will pass on this in the future. Pork- I think they ended up giving me the special instead of the BBQ pork, and as soon as I peeked into my sandwich I was not a fan. I think this variety has the head cheese in it. So I passed.. my dinning companion said it was tasty thought! The owner was super friendly and when I told him it was my first time there, he replied " oh you will be back!" I'm pretty sure he is right!
(4)Kim N.
They have different variety of banh mi sandwiches and they're all pretty good. I saw some reviews about how the veggies and toppings are packed separately.... well they do that when you order to-go so your banh mi doesn't get soggy. Try the sugar cane juice & other snacks available in store.
(4)Nicki K.
You cannot get better than having 16 different types of banh mi in one place. And on top of that, the sandwiches are 10 inches long, longer than the usual banh mi. Seriously. This is the most variety I've ever seen anywhere! Not only is banh mi my favorite Vietnamese dish, the service here is excellent!!! The owners are very sweet and caring. I loved talking to them. They also had bubble tea and lots of desserts - hot and cold. I just wish they would open longer. Their hours of operations are 9 am to 7 pm, closed on Mondays. Oh yeah, it's take out only but it's okay, I usually like to take it home since I order so much for the family :)
(4)Han L.
I was treated to some of Huy's sandwiches recently and they've definitely changed their bread. Which is good because that was my primary beef with their sandwich. Their $3 banh mi dac biet has about 6 types of meats, damn.
(4)Jai R.
So many choices of Banh Mi!!! I tried the grilled beef and barbecue pork. The grilled beef was yummy. The beef had a few fat pieces that I couldn't eat but overall was good. The barbecue pork was not at all what I expected and I couldn't eat it. I was expecting meat but it was more like marinated raw bacon. Not my thing so I had to toss that one. The bread was a little too crispy for my liking. I prefer my bread to be a little more soft so that I don't have to wonder what happened to the roof of my mouth. The toppings were fresh and plentiful. I noticed that these sandwiches seemed more like subs than the banh mi that I have come accustomed to. I will try their traditional #1 and grilled pork next time to really get a comparison between them and Lee's Bakery. I would totally like to gloat about their smoothies! I had the strawberry smoothie and it was perfect. Real fruit and plenty of tapioca bubble! It was even topped with a fluffy whipped cream. I was in total smoothie heaven. Now it is my goal to try every flavor.
(3)Chris W.
Great Bahn Mi, nice and quick service. Can't be the price for a quick lunch, only wish I could get the Bahn Mi without the bread (yes I know then it's not a Bahn Mi) but I usually toss the bread anyways as I don't do wheat/gluten in general. I always feel bad wasting their bread, just give it to me in a salad!

After hearing rave reviews from a few friends and yelp, I had to give Huy's banh mi's a try. I came here last weekend and got the chicken banh mi and combination banh mi. As Huy's was a take-out place, I didn't eat the sandwiches right away, but they sat in my car for the drive home. The chicken sandwich was pretty good. The bread is pretty fluffy (not crunchy, as some other banh mi's are). The chicken was tasty. However, it was a little dry. I was comparing it to Quoc Huong's chicken banh mi in my head, and I think I still like Quoc Huong's better (even if the butter doesn't make it very healthy). The hubs really liked the combination banh mi. He said it had a good amount of each meat, and the flavors blended very well together. It might be his favorite combo banh mi in ATL. Huy's takes credit card, which is a plus. I think we'll be back again if we're in the Jimmy Carter/Norcross area.
(4)David Y.
If you like Vietnamese sandwiches, this is your place. It's kind of a hole in the wall sandwich shop, but the food just could not be any better. I came for the sandwiches, but I also tried the egg rolls. Both were awesome. There were other food items available, but I didn't try them. Maybe next time.
(5)Sela T.
Their banh mi sandwiches are really their specialty. I dont really go here for anything else. I usually order number 1 and would recommend it to others. But, I don't like any of their drinks. Rau ma is not sweet enough and I dont like their ice coffee. I would suggest you go across the street to the hong kong market plaza for that.
(3)Phong T.
Delish banh mi. My family has been coming here more often since it's closer to home, but the banh mis are pretty good in my opinion. I do understand they bake their baguettes in the store so it's usually fresh out of the oven. They do have competition because I have a favorite banh mi joint to hit up, which is located off Buford Hwy, Quoc Huong. Alot of the Yelpers mentioned it in their review and I do agree with most of them. However this place isn't all that bad either. They are very accommodating as well if you ask to put seperate things aside instead of having them put it in your baguette. Other than that, they have other items they sell in the store such as Vietnamese desserts and drinks. Check this place out! It's kind of tucked away in an empty plaza behind diagonally from the Hong Kong Plaza.
(4)Rachel C.
Grilled pork banh mi is amazing. The man at the register which I'm assuming is the owner was so nice and told me that the grilled pork was the most popular item on the menu. The place was clean and the prices are unbelievable. I will definitely be going back for more!! Best banh mi in town.
(5)Jeff M.
Let's talk about that other rivalry in Georgia. Not Georgia vs. Georgia Tech. Or Emory vs. everything non-Emory. I'm talking about the Atlanta's Great Banh-Mi Rivalry (GBMR) between Lee's Bakery, Quoc Huong, and Huy's Sandwich. Huy's Sandwich is located up in Norcross, GA. It's the most distant of the three from Midtown Atlanta, but still only about 20 minutes away. Hop on 85-N, take a right off of the Jimmy Carter exit, and take a left onto Live Oak Parkway. It's shortly down the road on the right. This is best done by car, not on foot. Everything about this place is simple. The facade, the interior, and the service. Somehow you must take on the task of discerning which of the many sandwiches you want. Once you do, place the order and wait. It's a little bit longer of a wait than Lee's or Quoc Huong. And unlike those other places, there isn't much in terms of seating either. But when you get it ... drool ... I ordered the grilled pork bahn mi sandwich. Everything about it is perfect. The airiness of the baguette. The juicy, tasty, and plentiful pork. The balance of cilantro, cucumber, and carrots. And it's not going to cost you much either. I'm a huge fan of Lee's Bakery and Quoc Huong. But if you ask me, Huy's Sandwich makes the best banh mi in Atlanta.
(4)Daniel A.
Great sandwich spot! Perhaps the best VIetnamese sandwich spot in GA. I've eaten alot of banh mi around Ga and also in the motherland, Vietnam and I think Huy's one of the best places for banh mi.
(5)Chris G.
This is no place for ambience, though it is a perfectly clean operation, and the owner and staff are very friendly and competent. This may be an understatement, because I ate possibly my new favorite sandwich: the grilled pork Banh Mi! The BBQ was delicious as well. I can't wait to try some of the other stuff. Quoc Huong is good too but they only accept cash, AND they don't have this grilled pork masterpiece. That alone is well worth the trip. I was shocked they charge so little $ for this quality. Subway would charge you over twice as much for their janky shit sandwiches!
(5)Christina K.
I thought at first, wow, SIXTEEN different variations on banh mi?? My heart almost skipped a beat, but then I had a bite of their sandwich. While yes, the variations are great, the taste leaves much to desire. My combination sandwich was filled with veggies and cartilage. The meat was so stringy I felt like I had to keep pulling and pulling with each bite. The bbq pork was bland, which is odd as I have never had bland bbq pork before from an asian place! seriously?? They don't use mayo, but butter on the breads. Creates an... interesting taste. I don't know, maybe I am old school and just want to stick with the traditional. Besides, if it ain't broke, why fix it? The great things about this place is that it offers a variety of hot and cold desserts, the place is clean and open and has some patio chairs and seats outside. The service was really great too. But I'll keep driving to Buford Hwy if I want some great Banh mi.
(2)Andrew D.
Pretty big fan. Spring rolls are good, and the sandwiches are of nice size and value at $2.50-$3. People are always friendly and quick. This place is closed I think on Tuesdays, and when in the area I got stuck going there on this "off" day a few times. Good quick serve spot to check out if you have not.
(4)Thao T.
The sandwiches here are awesome! The old man at the desk is super friendly and will help you decide what to get (I spoke with him in Vietnamese so not sure if he speaks English). They got a very large selection of Vietnamese sandwiches to choose from. If this is your first time eating Vietnamese sandwiches and want to get something safe but still good, get the grill pork, thinly sliced pork seasoned to perfection then grill! If you're extra hungry, try one of each and share with a fried because if you buy 10, you'll get 2 free!
(4)Lee M.
If Bahn Mi is wrong I don't want to be right. A coworker came in the office one day with a delicious looking and smelling sandwich. He said it was from some "Korean" sandwich place he'd heard was good. I quickly identified the it as actually a Vietnamese bahn mi, but I kept my mouth shut since I wanted to stay on his good side. With hope in my heart I offered to trade him half of a steak taco from Buford Highway Farmer's Market for a chunk of his sandwich. He readily agreed and I got a inch and a half long piece of a grilled beef bahn mi. With one bite I knew I had to go get the full experience. It had that combination of tastes, salty, sweet, sour, and umami that makes Southeast Asian cuisine so wonderfully addictive, wrapped up on a sandwich. I went the very next day and have been several additional times. The restaurant itself is fairly basic. While the space is large there are only a couple of tables. You order at the counter. The menu is a picture board hanging above the counter. There are 16 options for your main ingredient. Pork is the most represented meat with several preparations, e.g. BBQ pork, steamed pork, grilled pork. There is also a vegetable option. The sandwiches are on a house-baked french roll about 7-8 inches long. The bread reminds me of a Mexican bolillo. It has a crisp crust and a light airy interior. They tend to get a little crunchy on the ends. Each sandwich is topped with cucumber, pickled carrot and daikon, jalepenos and cilantro. The vegetables have always been fresh and crunchy. The pickled carrot and daikon give the sandwich a wonderful sweet and sour flavor as well as crunch. There is also a light spread of either softened butter or mayo on the bread (I honestly can't tell which and opinions online vary. I keep forgetting to ask when I'm there). The sandwiches I have tried are the grilled beef, grilled pork, chicken, meatball and special combination. The grilled beef is my favorite, it's thinly sliced beef that has been grilled, not dissimilar to cheese steak meat. It has good beef flavor and is slightly crispy around the edges. In addition to the standard toppings it has crispy fried onions. The chicken is shredded dark meat. It has a nice rich flavor with a slight smokiness, it seems to be braised. The meatball is a soft pork meatball with a sauce that reminded me of American-Chinese sweet and sour sauce. The grilled pork was pretty tough and stringy, it probably had the best flavor, but the texture didn't work for me. The special combination has BBQ pork, liver pate, ham and head cheese. The BBQ pork was too gelatinous and cartilage-y for my American sensibilities, but the meatier parts that I did eat tasted pretty good. I pulled the pork off and ate the sandwich with the other three ingredients. It was very good, the liver did not have the mineral taste that puts off alot of people, just a nice meaty richness. At around 3 dollars a sandwich I'll be back frequently.

Cold meat on cold bread !! All you guys raving about it, is it how its supposed to be? Cos certain as hell that is what we got, the 'barely able to find chilled grilled pork' on a cold bread. All the more made the mistake of taking up the offer on the buy 5 get 6 thing, had to suffer thru eating the rest of the meatless wonders, only silver lining, the veggies that we requested to be packed up separate were done so and were in plenty.

So what's the deal with the Pink Rice? And the Green Rice? Uhm, the Red Rice? It is Rice, right? Are these desserts of some kind? Can't say I'm moved to try white rice with food coloring... but the sandwiches on the other hand ...! I got to Huy's Sandwich by reading the positive Yelps of course... We were pretty sure we were going to "take-out" and that was confirmed upon entering and only find a few tables. Not occupied, mind you... and though the facility seemed extremely clean and organized it lacked even the basic sort of "sit-in" feel you might get from the most run of the mill Subway. But that's all Subway has over Huy's. The banh mi sandwich selections are numerous (as pointed out by other Yelp reviews) and it is really difficult to make a choice. Our experiences with banh mi are mostly from the venerable Lee's Bakery. Which is good, but the selection here is much more diverse. Upon entering you will notice how clean the place is. To your left are some pre-made items such as (soup?) dumplings and some long crispy things that looked like flantas but properly were not. Next are the rows and rows of brightly colored rice mounds on stryofoam plates covered with saran wrap. Are these some kind of desert? Sweet? I would love to know... but back to the sandwiches... We ended up taking home and enjoying the BBQ Pork (get that one!) Chicken Grilled Pork Grilled Beef (pork was better) and Meatball (MUCH better than expected!) I will admit we had a slight problem understanding the owners' and counter girl's command of English... but we did come away with one tidbit to share: "Buy five, get one free" oh ho! And these keep fresh in the fridge really well!!!

Mind-blowing banh mi sandwiches is an understatement. This place, hands down, is the best place in Atlanta for banh mi. What makes them really unique is their bread. The bread actually made in house and isn't quite as dense as other places. Their bread is actually very crispy and appears to be hollowed out a bit to make room the massive amounts of veggies and meats. Huy's also has a plethora of boba smoothies. You'll find flavors like Taro, Papaya, Avocado, and my favorite (hold your nostrils) Durian. Boba appears to be made in house too. The color of the boba is transparent, soft unlike other boba but delicious nonetheless. Cheap sandwiches priced between $2.50 and $3.00, delicious drinks, and snacks will keep me coming back to this little hidden gem off the beaten path of Jimmy Carter Blvd. I live in Buckhead and have no problem driving up to Norcross for their banh mi. Trust me, Huy's is worth the drive, unless you go on a Tuesday. They are closed on Tuesday, might not be worth it then.

Banh Mi. Oh how I love it so. Especially buy 5 get one free? It's a great deal. A friend of mine showed me this place and it is so good. It's family owned and I remembered a boy maybe about 13-14 years old took my order. If I recommend something it is the grilled pork. I took a star off for really just decor and the fact you can't really eat there. If you eat there it's a little awkward. It's pretty empty and I think I remembered one table with two chairs? There is a table outside too. It's better if you just take them to go though. Other than the decor the food is yummy. If you're not eating your sandwich today you can ask for the toppings to be separate and they will place them in a ziploc bag. I find this convenient because you can put whatever and however much you want in there and if you eat it the next day you can heat it up without having to take out all the cold things.

One thing that I really appreciated about visiting L.A was their variety of foods, including having a specialty Bahn Mi shop, which I didn't think existed in Atlanta. But I'm glad Yelp proved me wrong! Huy's Sandwich is tucked away in the shopping plaza behind Hong Kong Supermarket next to a Great Ballroom(?). Being the cheap Asian that I am, I was VERY happy to see that the sandwiches were $2.50 and my taste buds were having a party after biting into the delicious BBQ pork bahn mi. The bahn mi (french bread) was nice and crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. There was a refreshing bit of acid from the pickled veggies that cut through the creamy vietnamese mayo and topped with bbq fatty goodness. The coffee bubble tea was also quite surprising. It reminded me exactly of a Starbuck's frappacino, plus it had colored boba at the bottom (instead of the usual black boba). This was my second time getting bubble tea, and it seems like they match the color of the boba to the drink. (Lychee = pink boba; coffee = light brown) INTERESTING. They also accept credit card, which I was honestly kind of surprised by for a cheap Asian food joint. Win! Thanks to Huy's Sandwiches, now I don't have to travel to LA just to experience the joys of getting Bahn Mi from a specialty sandwich shop!

The Banh Mi here is what Banh Mi suppose to taste like, I would know because my last name is NGUYEN, I was born in Vietnam, lived there for 10 years, and do often visit. For those who love Banh Mi from Quoc Huong, you will not like the Banh Mi here so much because it is not drip in chicken fat. But if you want authentic Banh Mi then this is the place to go. The price is about the same everywhere else...$2.50 for a sandwich and you will get one free if you buy 5. They have an extensive variety of Banh Mi here from Pate(liver), fried eggs, grill pork, grill beef, dac biet(which is the combination of all the toppings), nem nuong(charged broiled pork) etc. I like how they do not put artificial coloring in their food so all their grill meat are light brown-gray instead of red(I cook and I do not know any type of meat that turns red when cook). They make their bread here everyday so it is very rare that they run out of Banh Mi which is often what happen at Quoc Huong. The place is super clean and despite the other review about slow/bad service...I did not experience this. Along with Banh Mi they also have a variety "street snacks" and Che( Vietnamese style dessert). I have to admit that they have the best Che in town....not too sweet yet very creamy. I recommend the Banh Mi Dac Biet, grill pork and grill beef Banh Mi. Remember to pick up some Che for dessert(my favorite are: Che Bap, Che Thai and Che Chuoi). Enjoy :)

Banh Mi Banh Mi Ban Mi... I missed Lee's Sandwiches from Cali. but finally there is a substitute till i am able to have it again. They are one of the few places that has Grilled Marinated Meat Banh Mi sandwiches. Would give them 5 -stars but last couple times when my workers brought it back to the office and I asked them to put all the items inside the sandwich they gave all the vegetable and toppings in a diff bag so we had to compile the sandwiches ourselves.

The sandwiches here is buy three and get one free. This is a very generous offer, The owner is really nice. This place provides the best customer service. ..It Has the best "banh thit nuong" or grilled meat sandwich. This is the only kind of sandwich that I order there, but the vegetarian sandwich is good too. The passion fruit drink is pretty awesome. I like the waffles, but they don't offer any syrup to go with it. it's not like I walk around with a syrup bottle. Con: The coffee here is a bit too strong and thick though.

Well 2 and a bit hours after Banh Mi and Boba tea here I'm already hungry and still feeling slightly ripped off. $13.50 for 2 sandwiches 2 snapple and a Thai tea. Harsh. The selection of food looks good and obviously me and the wife were only able to try 2 of the offerings. We liked the bread it was really good and the grilled pork sandwich was the best I've had here in Atlanta. However the wifes BBQ pork could have been anything, in fact we had to check whether there actually was a filling other than the veggies it was so bland. Thai tea had an ok taste but was a little expensive for the serving size and had way too much ice so I couldn't suck up my little tapioca balls. Plus I don't think the mound of whipped cream on the top adds anything. Certainly not worth travelling to specially but convenient if you've been shopping round the corner

Usually go to Buford hwy to get my banh mi but i saw this place and stop by. Love it. Their banh mi are the bomb. Quoc Huong was my favorite but this took me by surprise :)
(5)Don D.
My buddy and I had heard that Huy's had the best Banh Mi in town and someone even boasted that it was better than Lee's Bakery's Banh Mi. After hearing this we went to check it out. While we were definitely satisfied with the quality and taste of this sandwich, we both agreed that it was no better than Lee's Bakery. Basically, whichever one you're closest to will be a great place to get an awesome Banh Mi but don't feel the need to drive out of your way to one or the other. If you're close to Lee's go to Lee's and it will be awesome. If you're closer to Huy's, go to Huy's and it too will be great.

Yum!! Huy's Sandwich became my favorite spot for banh mi. Their baguettes are so fresh and crisp on the outside while soft on the inside. They stuff the sandwiches with plenty of meat and pickled vegetables (they'll even add eggs if you ask them--sounds weird huh? but it's SO yummy, I love it!) The cucumbers and cilantro tasted very fresh. I like their combination bread (I think it was #1), the pate spread gave it a burst of flavor. Try their che bap (the hot coconut corn dessert) I brought some home and my sister ate it all! It's the best che bap I've had thus far.

Awesome, fresh, big vietnamese bahn mi sandwiches for super cheap prices. Just opened up in Norcross, they bake everything in house and everything is flavorful and crispy and delicious. I recommend the #9 grilled pork, though I'm sure the combination (#1 i think?) is more authentic. They have flipping 16 types of bahn mi! Only a couple bucks too! Basically take-out only, though they have a table inside and a couple small ones outside. Been there twice in a week since hearing about it.
(4)Christopher P.
very fresh veggies + clean interior + nice staff = this place really deserves 3 1/2 stars. I'm a banh mi aficionado. This place definitely has the potential for greatness but on the first go there was not enough pate or mayo applied to the banh mi dac biet. Ergo... visavis... concordantly... the sangwich was dry. I also had #14 with an egg.... bon ape-tit a la Burt Reynolds. For all of you Californians and Texans, this place reminds me of Lee's Banh Mi chain. You know what the deal... until they start loading up on the artery clogging pate and mayo, this place will be a solid 3 1/2 stars.
(3)Mike Y.
Very rarely do I give 5 stars to any establishment let alone a banh mi joint in the middle of nowhere. Huy's sandwiches aren't exactly mind blowing, but they make me so very happy. Most of the usual banh mi places on buford only offer a couple of choices, but Huy offers up to 16 different varieties!!! He also bakes his baguettes in house and they're a bit larger than the rest. There is a certain skill to making a good bahn mi. They use just the right amount of butter and they're pretty generous with the fillings. I haven't had the opportunity to sample everything, but so far his grilled pork bahn mi (The #9) is the BEST! Packed full of flavor and not dry in the least. i kind of wish he was closer to me, but he is one of the few destination eateries I would travel to.
(5)Greg S.
Its simple. This place is very good and inexpensive. Little seating which is no big deal. Just FYI. Go for the grilled pork. #9
(5)Gloria W.
this is not the usual buford hwy lee's/pho bac baguette with the crust crumbling everywhere. i always get the grilled pork. yummy in my tummy. my friend ordered a dessert for me one time, this green sticky rice thing with taro and coconut milk poured over it. more please. and just for a moment, i wished i was vietnamese. (well, i'm like that every time i eat pho too). i love the couple who owns the place; they're so friendly. the husband says hello to me in korean. the wife tells me i look korean. i think they like trying to figure out whether i'm korean. they should know by now..
(4)Seth R.
Delicious. I can't compare it vs. other bahn mi sandwich places since this is the first I have had. But vs. a traditional sandwhich this was far more flavorful & less expensive. I will be eating there a lot. I asked what they recommended and I got the #14 Meat bahn mi - it was excellent (and just $3(, and the vegetables were crisp and fresh. The baguette that it was on, was crisp and good. Now I look forward to going back and trying some of the other things they have in there!
(4)J V.
i had the banh mi thit nuong .. and it was just okay.. it was a weekday at an off time..and i guess the bread wasn't the freshest..but yeah.. the service was wonderful though...i would rate the service a 5..but the sandwich itself is just okay..
(3)Chan V.
I am Vietnamese and banh mi has always been my favorite "street food." It's cheap, quick, and fills you up fast. My favorite part is that it's oh so good! Hue's Sandwich offers all of that. I ordered the number 9 sandwich but only after 5 minutes of choosing between the number 9 (grilled pork) and number 10 (combination of everything). The sandwich was longer than most Vietnamese sandwiches in the area. The bread was thin and crispy. The pork was seasoned a little too sweet but it's compliments the pickled daikon and carrots just right. They also sell other side dishes like sticky rice, egg rolls, niem (google that) and an assortment of Vietnamese desserts called Che. I also had the drip coffee with condense milk. Sooooo good! And finally for all you durian lovers out there, my boyfriend rates the durian smoothy 8 out of 10. The smell of durian is extra pungent by the way that's why he drank it and not me. Happy eating!
(4)Ted S.
Excellent sandwiches at a great price. The fried egg is always an excellent addition at only a slight charge (and yes, I mean that even on not so obvious choices, like the grilled pork). The bread is crispy on the outside and lightly fluffy on the inside. If you don't like it spicy (or just don't like the flavor of raw jalapeños), make sure you ask them to hold the peppers.
(4)Kerry M.
The bread is incredible. Veggies fresh. Spotless interior. Grilled pork: sub par. Some crunchy pig skin or something that was a huge threat to dental work. Unpleasant and dangerously crunchy. I was driving and did not have time to identify, but it was all through the sandwich. Staff, not a cohesive team at all. They simply do not have their act together. Some people are cut out for restaurants and some are not. I get the feeling the owners are new to the restaurant business. There is no sense of urgency at this place. At one point, with 6 customers, 4 separate orders all standing and watching- no food production taking place, all the staff disappeared for a couple minutes. Then they reappeared... slowly... The man taking orders was eating food instead of cashing customers out.... The Cha Gao were cold. When compared to Quoc Houng, no comparison. It took almost 20 minutes to get 2 sandwiches at 11:30Am. So, would I return? Probably not.
(2)Susan C.
Delicious! We tried the grilled pork, meatball, and chicken. All wonderful, but grilled pork was our favorite. Can't wait to go back.

good and cheap bahn mi in the best tradition.

Per all the great reviews, we decided to give this place a try. So our verdict: Good bread, so-so stuffing. The vegetarian banh mi...well I certainly can't expect this option to be extraordinary; however, it should be slightly above average. It was just that, average. The pickled veggies were sweet, not what I had expected nor wanted. And the protein was just bits of fried tofu, cut to resemble bi or pig skin. The soy sauce squirted inside made this strange sandwich too salty. too sweet and too salty? Meh. Hubby said the meat was also only okay. He got the special or dac biet and wasn't blown away either. And he wished for a better homemade mayo. Again, the baguette is pretty awesome, but that's the best part. Service is friendly and fast. They seem like nice people. Maybe there's some other special other than the "special" or dac biet, that Tom N should have gotten?
(3)Nhan M.
Good sandwiches for decent prices. Make sure you come on the busier days so you don't end up getting an old batch of meat that could've spoiled. You know we asian people ain't throwing nothin away when it comes to running a business. It's $3 per sandwich, buy 5 get one free.
(3)Michael L.
What....I haven't reviewed this place yet? That nonsense ends here. The secret to why their Bahn Mis are better than other joints is actually simple (and cheap). Fried onions. There, I said it. They're awesome, and they give an extra dimension to an already tasty sandwich that has a perfect balance of ingredients. Never too greasy (*Quoc Huong*), and never skimping on meat (*Lee's*). The only sad thing is that their grilled beef sandwich is now $5 instead of $3 like the others. Still no. 1 in my book.

My favorite banh mi sandwich place in Atlanta even though I only have VN Tofu to compare. Customer service is friendly. Store has an open layout with small treats. There are a few seats outside. I ordered the banh mi dac biet. The bread is hot, crispy, and light. It has a thin layer of melted butter inside. There are so many ingredients inside that my taste buds went wild trying to figure what each was. I thought the lovely sweet sauce was unique. Other than that, it had pate, pork, strips of pickled carrots, etc. Highly recommend for a quick bite on a busy day! I would like to try the sugar cane juice (with orange juice) next time to compare to VN Tofu. I ordered my sandwich at the end of the day and the cashier said they ran out of sugar cane juice so make sure to come early. I saw pennywort, too, but am hesitant to try if there's no dau xanh. Parking here is plentiful.

BEST grilled pork Bahn Mi in the Atlanta Area! Lemon grassed season pork, tangy daikon and carrots, with a light buttery French baguette......love the fact that it's served warm with quick service! A must try if your in the area!
(5)Daniel B.
Lee's Bakery, Quoc Huong, Viet Tofu, and VN Tofu all make tasty banh mis (Vietnamese sandwiches), but I think Huy's wins, by a hair, for best bahn mi in the Atlanta area. Just look at one of these things: yelp.com/biz_photos/huys… . Since opening in 2011, Huy's has consistently pumped out fresh, tasty, filling, and authentic banh mis. My favorite remains #16, the banh mi dac biet (or special combination). It's packed with ham, pate, head cheese, steamed pork, and roasted BBQ pork along with the typical banh mi accoutrements of cucumber, cilantro, jalapeno, carrots, and radish inside a thick French baguette. In Atlanta, Huy's banh mi is the biggest and the quality/freshness of the bread and sandwich ingredients seems to be the most consistent. Bahn mi prices are still $2.50 to $3.00 each, which is a good value. Discounts are offered for multiple orders. For a complete listing of all 16 banh mi types offered, please refer to my original review below. Aside from sandwiches, Huy's offers other foods and the selection continues to expand. This place is like a mini Viet Tofu or VN Tofu. You can find various prepackaged Vietnamese snacks and meals such as spring rolls, dumplings, and rice and noodle dishes. They're normally made same-day and laid out on tables ready to be eaten. Examples of some of these items, with pricing, include: Xoi Nep Than ($1.75) - sticky rice with coconut, peanuts, corn, yellow bean paste Banh Bao ($1.75) - steamed dumplings with pork, egg, Chinese sausage, onion Banh Cam ($0.50) - sesame balls Cha Gio ($0.75 each, 3 for $2.00) - fried spring rolls Goi Cuon (3 for $3.00) - fresh spring rolls with shrimp, pork, noodles, mint Banh Uot ($3.50) - flat rice noodles with pork, veggies, and fish sauce Com Thit Nuong - rice with grilled pork There's also a refrigerated display case with everything you need to make your own banh mi at home. This includes everything from the meat (e.g. a pack of nem - cured pork - is $6) to the veggies. Other refrigerated items include assorted che, Vietnamese pudding drinks/desserts, and papaya salad. Three other display cases are reserved for fresh-baked breads and other baked goods. These include the same baguettes the banh mis are made with. The beverage selection includes coffees, teas (including bubble teas), and smoothies. I've still yet to try any of the bubble teas here. I'm apprehensive because I generally haven't had good experiences with bubble tea made at places that don't produce it in mass quantities daily. However, I have tried some of Huy's other drinks like the sugarcane juice and pennywort juice and they are delicious. If you want to complete your authentic Vietnamese eating experience, cap it off with one of those drinks. There's now limited seating inside. Unfortunately, it's only two small tables for four. This place remains primarily a take-out joint. Credit card minimum is $5. If you're a fan of Lee's and Quoc Huong, give Huy's a try. You may be surprised.
(5)Jordan Z.
The Banh Mi here is delicious. I generally get the number nine, but everything is good. The price is also unbeatable. Four dollars for a great sandwich? Yeah. I'm in.
(5)Carolina M.
Maybe more like 3.5 stars? Call me a creature of habit but I'm just so used to Quoc Huong's banh mi. I know they're greasy, but there's the familiarity of their taste which makes it difficult for me to like Huy's. At Huy's, they do put in more meats and stuff in their special combination sandwiches which are $3.50 each, available for the buy 5, get 1 free deal. While they do put in more meats, they also tunnel out the buns, meaning they pull out some of the bread on each side, so the bread serves more like a shell. Honestly, I like a bit more of bread so it feels more like a hefty sandwich, granted these are heavy from the meat. Lastly, I think the thing I dislike is the sweet/tangy sauce inside the sandwich. I could do without it. I'm impressed that there are so many different sandwiches served here. They also have those jelly drinks on their menu. I ordered a #9 which has various jellies in what seems like coconut mlik, but oy...it was too sweet for me. I thought there would be more crushed ice like the dessert, but they use cubed ice. I had to dilute this thing with water once I got home and only then was it more enjoyable. Am I just dumb for not liking this place or did I come at an off-time on a Saturday afternoon? I really wanted to like this place. The banh mi looks great, but it didn't taste delicious to me.

Tastiest banh mi sandwiches around! Delicious, fresh, and cheap. I love Lee's, but Huy's sandwiches wins in my book. Totally worth the drive up 85 to Jimmy Carter. Also, don't forget to try their pandan waffles. Green, slightly crispy, mildly sweet... I could eat 5 of those waffles right now!

I'm always down to trying different Vietnamese restaurants. I've heard very good things about Huy's Sandwich having some of the best banh mi in town. So for our cheap Sunday lunch, we decided to give Huy's a try. Buy 5 get 1 free! They take credit card for orders over $5. It was 1pm and they ran out of BBQ pork. What. So my original order of BBQ pork and dac biet (including BBQ pork) completely fell through. They replaced the BBQ pork with grilled pork, which turned out pretty tasty. I might actually prefer grilled pork to BBQ pork now. There was a pretty amazing meat to bread/veggie ratio. Each bite was chock full of meat! Drinks are $3.75, from Thai tea to a fruit shake. So I turned it down... I can get cheaper elsewhere. But I couldn't stop gazing at the Thai tea picture on the wall. They sell the ingredients that they use in a fridge nearby, which I thought was pretty cool. Now we know how their butter/mayo is made!! Huy's Sandwich reminds me of VN tofu, how the layout of a market surrounds the banh mi counter. But one thing really pissed me off: charging us $1 for three cups of iced tap water? I don't even get charged for water at the fanciest restaurants of Atlanta. I would understand if it were bottled water... But it's just tap water. And the fact that they told us after we asked for water, that it would cost $1... Overall, I think I might prefer Quoc Huong banh mi, who still stands as number one in my book. But Huy's has got to be number two, for sure. That grilled pork though... On point.

I just discovered this little establishment a few months ago. They have their own unique way of making the BBQ pork that is very savory. The egg sandwich is also amazing. Sandwiches are only $3. It's such a cute little family business too, sometimes the son is there and taking orders for me and he is just so adorable and smart. I also like going here since it's a bit newer and kind of in a secluded area that doesn't get so much traffic, and I love supporting small business. The place is a bit too dim though and I wonder about cleanliness sometimes. And ultimately I prefer Banh Mi Quoc Huong more. Huy's sandwiches doesn't toast the buns as well and the butter marinade is not as good. But if you're in the area and want a solid sandwich then come here!

Huy's is located past the Hong Kong Shopping center on Live Oak Parkway, right past the QT heading north. I would have never known this place existed had my mother not mention that her friends were all raving about this place. They were closed yesterday (Tuesdays) so I came and picked up a buy 5 get 1 free special for lunch today. The old man behind the counter, who could be Huy... I'm not actually sure, was so cute! My sister and I both "awwww-ed" at this guy. He's the typical sweet old Asian man and displayed such hospitality and friendliness. I only wish all Asian establishments were run by genuinely nice people like this man. They have a huge restaurant space, but little to no seating. Most of it is outside on their sidewalk patio. Seems like a waste of space. Thus, I'd come here for takeout orders only. Huy's Sandwich has the most ridiculous Banh Mi menu I've ever seen - way past your typical BBQ pork and combination. We went for 4 combinations and 2 grilled porks (well, I asked for BBQ pork, but new flavors are always welcomed). The banh mi itself is noticeably larger in length and stuffed with much, much more meat than it's banh mi competitors. Huge upside to getting sandwiches from here. However, I've had better bread elsewhere. I popped my banh mi into the toaster oven for a little more crisp, as the bread here tasted a little bit stale to me. There was also a bit too much egg mayonnaise (assuming this is what they used) with a weird mustard flavor in it which I did not enjoy too much. For takeout orders, I suggest you getting your vegetables on the side as to not make your bread soggy. Could have used more pate, but overall, the combination was chock full of meat that was fresh and clean tasting. My mom even commented on this. I also ordered a $3 sized iced Vietnamese coffee and it was strong as usual. A little too much condensed milk. While Huy's Sandwich might not be my favorite (compared to Quoc Huong, Lee's Bakery, VN Tofu), the level of service, quantity and quality of ingredients in the sandwiches, and the variety of sandwiches available really stand out here. My mom likes it, so that probably says something, too.

Fresh ingredients with the cilantro, pickled carrots, and grilled pork each having identifiable yet complimentary tastes. We made it just in time as they only had 4 french rolls remaining. The bread could have been a tad bit fresher and was just starting to loose it's special crunch, but still quite good. We both had the #9 Bahn Mi, which is a customer favorite. If I'm in the area I won't hesitate to visit again and it's a great value.

Yes!

(4)Ashleigh P.
Um...
(5)Ray B.
(4)George B.
(1)Thao T.

(4)Karly G.

Fresh ingredients with the cilantro, pickled carrots, and grilled pork each having identifiable yet complimentary tastes. We made it just in time as they only had 4 french rolls remaining. The bread could have been a tad bit fresher and was just starting to loose it's special crunch, but still quite good. We both had the #9 Bahn Mi, which is a customer favorite. If I'm in the area I won't hesitate to visit again and it's a great value.

Good sandwiches for decent prices. Make sure you come on the busier days so you don't end up getting an old batch of meat that could've spoiled. You know we asian people ain't throwing nothin away when it comes to running a business. It's $3 per sandwich, buy 5 get one free.

The Banh Mi here is delicious. I generally get the number nine, but everything is good. The price is also unbeatable. Four dollars for a great sandwich? Yeah. I'm in.

BEST grilled pork Bahn Mi in the Atlanta Area! Lemon grassed season pork, tangy daikon and carrots, with a light buttery French baguette......love the fact that it's served warm with quick service! A must try if your in the area!

(4)Victoria G.
