High Blood Pressure at Applebee's
Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak. I came here with my teammates to have a small celebratory snack after our win today. I have eaten at other Applebee's chains before and I've been consistently satisfied, but this trip proved to be a buzzkill. We went around 10:30 pm Saturday, and to my surprise it was almost darker inside than out (which was awkward). We had seen they had a special "Long Island iced teas: $2.99", and figured we could use a little buzz to get us to sleep, so we ordered a round. The drinks finally get there and they actually looked promising (in size at least). To our dismay, they were weak, and tasted purely of pre-made mix. Now, we should have known better than to order mixed drinks on special, and since these were so nasty we decided to ask the short female bartender if she could make us real ones (even if they were more expensive). She was nothin short of rude-as-shit, giving us bullshit excuses as to why she couldn't make us these drinks. She explained it that it was a liability, and that although she could serve us multiple individual shots, she couldn't serve us a real Long Island iced tea. She told us "it's a 3 dollar drink, what do you expect", what we should have said was "a good product at a decent price", but we were so caught-off-guard by the awful customer service, we just sat back down. In a world were we have awesome sites like yelp that can let the community know about bad service and poor quality, places like this need to raise their standards.

I have to agree with the poor ratings this restaurant is getting lately. But what do you expect when it is late Saturday night at a restaurant off of Franklin Road. The server was lack-a-dazical in his explanation of the menu as if we were boring him. We didn't see him much after our food came. The food was a little better than average, but it still doesn't make up for the poor service and the odd atmosphere in the restaurant. They offer a jukebox in the bar area and let's just say there were a lot of hip-hop fans in the joint. It was just...odd. The blue hairs didn't get it and seem perturbed which sets an uncomfortable mood when dining. My Two Cents: Scratch This Off My Repeat List

My first time at Applebee's & the burbon steak was awesome.. I usually dont order steak but I wanted to try something new. The drinks was bland. It couldve been better. Our waiter Jennifer was awesome. Will I ever go back to applebees I doubt it. I was hungry the only thing I saw off the exit.

I recently took my three kids here for lunch. We ordered the chicken fingers. I must say I was highly disappointed! The chicken fingers were very small. I thought the waitress accidently brought me the kids portion size but she told me that they are using a new company to get them. I didn't enjoy the experience at all. This Applebee's is too dimly lit and has a funny smell to it. I don't know if the employees are just used to it but as soon as you walk through the door it smells like old worn food aprons. I prefer the Applebees on Spring Rd much better. This restaurant has to do a much better job at cleanliness and making the food as well. It is never busy but I understand why

"Happy hour" at this location is all day if you sit at the bar! They also have half price on some appetizers after 10pm. The service was pretty good, though it was slow, and the bartender would disappear for a while. The drinks were pretty good for $3.99 for a large LI Ice tea!
(3)Silas M.
As we walked in, this employee asks me to move over. I didn't get why instead of sitting us she asked me to move over. Then she tells me that there was something on the floor (it looked like puke) I should have gone away but I decided to stay for the sake of my 5 friends . It seems to me that there were three people only working in that big restaurant. It took them about 30 minutes to to get us water to drink. Then we had to wait for another whole hour to get our food. The waitress was nice though. It seems that there was too much work for her. She was kind and sweet and apologized several times. She brought us our drinks but it took her forever to get us straws. Finally we got our food. It was almost midnight. Not bad when you got to the restaurant at 10:30 p.m. hah? Food was not so good. And she messed up our bills and it took her forever to fix them. It took her another eternity to pay our bills. Finally we can go home really mad. I had a great time and ate well at other Applebees. But this one will never see me again. Be aware :-(

Food was great, Server was nice, just couldn't count, shorted changed me but other than that it was all good

Horrible service. I should have known I wouldn't have a good experience when I walked in on a Friday night around 9pm and there is no wait and 2/3 or the place is empty. Hostess was completely rude, took about 10 minutes for me to get seated. I couldn't understand why when they place was empty. The waitress was working at least 10 tables (must have been understaffed). She was completely over whelmed b/c it took her 15 minutes to take our drink orders, then it took another 10 minutes to get the drinks, then we had to wait another 5 minutes to get the straws. When we ordered our meal they brought it out w/out utensils, said they didn't have any clean ones and brought out plastic utinsels. I cut into my chicken to find it still pink as ever. Requested to speak w/ the manager who took his sweet time coming over to my table (15 minutes), only to find him of zero help. No apology, no offer to re-cook, just gave me a refund for the meal. Needless to say, I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS LOCATION EVER AGAIN.

I've been to the Applebees before and I'll never go again. My friend, her baby and I came in to get some dinner. First all the front end person walks to a booth and doesn't bother to ask if we need a high chair or booster seat He starts wiping down the table as while we are seating down. (why seat us at a dirty table? the place was nearly empty) After our waitress arrives, we ask for the high chair and she comes back and tells us that she is not allowed to place high chair in that booth and that we need to move somewhere else. At that point we get a new waitress and we order our food. My friend orders a kids meal hamburger for her son, when the burger comes out she cuts it down the middle and the burger is not cooked...its VERY PINK and bleeding (keep in mind her child is 2 yrs old) why would you give a kid anything medium rare burger??? When asked to have it cooked longer the waitress looks at us crazy. Then my food comes out and I order this new sizzling skilet meals it has shrimp, chicken, sauage over a bed of rice...OK the shrimp was under cooked. I decided that I was going to pick through it and not eat under cook seafood but then half the rice was overcooked and the other half undercooked (I mean it was hard) and since it was all mixed together I just couldn't do it. The waitress came back and I told her she could take it back and if they want to charge me they can. My friend ordered the garlic steak and she said it had no flavor. The only reason I'm not giving this place one star is because they didn't charge me for the horrible meal they tried to give me. They offered to fix something else but I declined...the experience was already ruined.

It was my birthday and I had a gift card for Applebee's. This is the closest location to where I live. My boyfriend was working late so I decided to get the food as take out. I called before hand to order my food. As soon as they answered I was placed on hold. I waited 10 mins and nobody ever came back so I assumed they were busy and forgot. I hung up and tried again. I got placed on hold again but it was a different person. Another 10 mins go by. I hung up and usually at this point I would give up and get food elsewhere but as I said it was my birthday and I had a gift card. I tried a 3rd time and then it just kept ringing busy. At this point I got in my car and drove to the Applebee's. There was no host at the door. The place wasn't super busy and this was around 8:30pm. Finally someone greeted me and he sent me to the bar to order my food. I ordered my food and my boyfriends food I just asked for no bacon for religious reasons. They told me okay and put the order in. I waited forever probably about 30 mins. They finally brought my food and apologized for the wait because they had put bacon on it. I got home and my boyfriend looked at his pasta and took a bite. It tasted like straight up noodles barely any sauce... I tried to stir it to get some sauce on them and I found a big piece of bacon in it. Even my pasta barely had sauce on it. My boyfriend refused to eat any of it. Mine was flavorless I had a few bites and then threw it out. I had enough and called the manager to tell him what happened. He was nice and apologized offered to fix my meal but I didn't want to drive back and wait so I asked to just send me another gift card in the mail. I hope it comes if feel bad for that gift to be wasted. I won't come back to this location.

This was the worst service I have expierenced. Here are a few items which lead me to this expierence. When I first arrived to this Applebee's I overheard a guest walking out commenting how slow the service was normally I Would have left however we had just traveled from south florida many long hours with our hotel located right next door this was the closes dining option. We sat and our orders were placed after 20 min than waited 1 hour to get our food. Only half the food came out than a few moments later the other items came. My mother in law order chicken and it was raw we notified the server and he said the manager would come out to See us but we noticed someone who looked like a manager speaking to the server but never came to apologize. Prior to ordering out food we requested the checks to be split of course not done. When we complained that it was not split the server had a very bad attitude and took the credit cards to fix another 10 min goes by we have to ask the hostess to get the server back out with our card. This place was awlful!
(1)Russ K.
Really slow service. Took almost two hours to get our appetizer and dessert. The dessert came out first!! 3 stars because the food when we got it was good.
(3)Shanel D.
This used to be a decent Applebee's but honestly their service and drinks have gone downhill and their portion sizes are completely inconsistent. I regularly get the pub pretzels and usually get 4. For some reason I only received two today. The pasta was bland. My long island was pretty much non-alcoholic. The music was loud old and obnoxious country that numerous people complained about while I was there.
(1)Michael B.
At this location, Curb side to go means you have to pick up your food at the bar. It's pretty clear they just don't care.
(1)Jessica S.
So since yesterday was my first time at Applebee's, I'm gonna have to saw I was a bit concerned about service and food quality, etc. I was impressed! We went around 3pm, so it wasn't bad. Our server was very very nice and explained everything in the menu. We got the spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer, which was delish! I got the half rack baby back ribs which comes with fries and coleslaw. Everything was delicious and service was great! I'd definitely come back!
(5)Hannah N.
I don't usually post reviews, but felt this one deserved it. My car broke down and I went inside this Applebee's to cool off. They were extremely helpful and considerate. They gave me a booth with a window so I could watch for my ride and they gave me free sweet tea for the 30 minutes I was inside. All the servers asked me what they could do to help, and made everything a lot less stressful. I didn't eat anything, but the service was great!
(5)Slim M.
Have been back a couple times since the last review. Today, I just grabbed a strawberry lemonade drink with queso blanco (white cheese) and chips. It was pretty good, as it always is when I've gotten it. Our waitress was nice- I think her name was Amanda? Will stop by again if I'm in the area.
(4)Ashlee W.
I am always pleased at this applebee's!!! My fiance and I always go after 10pm for their 1/2 price apps and delicious cocktails! I got the white peach sangria, its super awesome! It gets you right and has a great taste! Together we ordered Boneless buffalo wings, wonton tacos and spinach and artichoke dip. It was amazing! Hot, fast, and yummy! What else could I ask for? I will definitely be back, hay maybe tomorrow! :)
(5)Levi S.
Typical Applebee's. Waiter was friendly and food was fast. One of the few places with decent food after 11pm, which is nice after getting out of a late night sporting event. Convenient to I-75.
(4)Kierra B.
They took forever to bring the food to the table and it wasn't even 20 people in there. Our waitress was also the bartender which is a prime example of them being short of staff. Trust the reviews they don't lie!
(2)Lee P.
Food was decent and it was half price apps so the value was good thus the 3 stars. The service was p poor. Slow from the start. Spent time thirsty. Spent time waiting for a ticket.
(3)Karl T.
I didn't expect a prime cut of meat, but this was the toughest steak I ever tried to eat. Could have strung a long bow with the sinue and hunted down a more tender piece of meat.
(1)Yureli R.
Love coming to Applebees my waiter is always super nice and friendly ! Everything really good and fast not much of the wait ! Very clean and nice looking ! First time I walked in to this one I've gone to different ones just not this one Definitely will be coming back here ! I love their boneless wings they are amazing !! And their 3 cheese chicken Penne pasta is delicious !!!! Love it
(5)Alex M.
This is my first fist but second time trying this location. I'm at a point now where Applebee's is going to be X-Out of being a option for me. The food was straight up terrible. I ordered a lunch basket and it was cold. It was pointless to send it back, so I simply made it work. How do you have a lunch feature on your outside board and the food comes out cold? As for the service, we sat in the bar area, our server was the bartender and she did a really good job. She brought refills and took away empty plates really quickly. This is it a place I would recommend.
(3)Shawn P.
I had been to this restaurant before and had a pretty good experience. I went there tonight, and stood at the door for two minutes and was not even acknowledged, much less seated. I turned around and walked out. I called and spoke to the manager after waiting on hold, and he did not seem very concerned. I will not be back.
(1)Deb M.
Well, I guess most of us don't expect much from these kinds of places anymore. But this Applebee's location hit a new low today. First off, it's a TERRIBLE sign when you have to send a Diet Coke back and get water instead because the Diet Coke is mixed so poorly it's light brown in color and tastes like weak sugar water. Come on people! I learned how to properly mix the fountain drink tanks when I was 19 years old and worked at Putt Putt! This is just sad. As others have pointed out, this location is a bit slow, so the customer services is extremely casual. I didn't really mind that too much. But they really could pick up the pace a bit. If I was in a hurry, their lackadaisical attitude would tick me off. Now, let's talk about the new signature GREASE burgers. I keep making the same mistake. I'm seduced by the pretty pictures of highly stylized food on TV and in print. I was craving a burger, so off I went to try an All-In Burger. In addition to the grease pouring off the thing, I can confirm that the meat has no flavor at all. The bun is too thick and it could just use some seasoning or something to set it off and make it actually worth ten bucks. The fries were decent. A bit on the salty side, but I like 'em like that. If you don't like a lot of salt, you'd probably best stay away from them. I really have to stop trying all of these other, more expensive burgers and stick with what I love, the best burger in Atlanta, at the decidedly unpretentious and almost always perfect US Cafe. It never disappoints.
(2)Corley M.
Tried to place a togo order, they put us on hold for 7 min when we tried to call back busy signal. Decided we would just go to dine in. Stood at the front for 4 min or longer, 3 servers either made eye contact or just walked by. Finally one server (first night from another store) greeted us but said he needed a min because they were so busy. We are in the bizz and totally understand, but they had 9 tables in the place 2 servers and bartender. When we were finally say we were still ignored. When a table that came in after us got greeted started thinking the Diner was a better option. After about 20 min the server comes over and explained its 15 min to close and we wouldn't be able to be served... Wow.. really? No worries the waitress at the Diner appreciated our 35% tip
(1)Shaun C.
The cheesy corn was the worst thing I've ever had there. The chips for our appetizer were stale. Seems to be no quality control onsite. The baked potato was a rock. Will be the last $40 I ever spend at an Applebees.
(1)Whitney T.
So just went I was thinking about giving this Applebee's five stars, they borderline pissed my friend and I off today (well me borderline, him REALLY pissed). I have never been a fan of Applebee's so the fact that I was going to give them five stars was a big deal! I come here often on my lunch breaks and I usually have very good experiences here. I order off of their "Pick 'N Pair" lunch menu. Their French Onion Soup and Sliders are great together. But anywho, today was not the usual good service I receive here. Don't get me wrong, the server I had was a nice guy but he could have been a lot better. My friend asked if he could get this shrimp on another type of salad other than the spinach salad and our server told him it would be $2 or $3 more...are you serious??? To put some shrimp on a house or caesar salad rather than the spinach salad would cost more? Give me a break! I highly doubt that and if we would have had the server I had the last time I'm sure it wouldn't have been extra. And then clearly he could tell we were in business attire on our lunch breaks, but he took FOREVER to bring us the check and they weren't even busy! My friend ended up returning late to work because of him. When he finally came back to our table after so long we thought he had the check with him, HA! Yeah right, we had to ask and he says, "Oh okay I can bring it." Then when he bought it he walks off and my friend is trying to tell him he can go ahead and take it. What does he think, we get two hours for lunch or something??? Maybe he was new or something but he needs to get on it. They were also doing some type of remodeling. The entire back wall was bare. You could tell they had been painting it because you could smell it. Who wants to smell that while they're eating? They couldn't do that after hours? Ahhh don't know when I'll be back to this Applebee's. But maybe I should give them another try and not let one bad experience outweigh the rest...I'll ponder on it...

Every once in a while, Applebee's commercials convince me to give the place another try. On a recent Sunday, I tried to go to another restaurant, but the place was packed so I figured I would give Applebee's another try. I should have learned my lesson by now, but I haven't. I sat at the bar and ordered a steak. The bartender was great and the service was excellent. The food, however, was lousy. I don't know what they do to their steaks, but the texture is really, really odd. I did a Google search at the bar and found postings from other people asking what they did to their steaks. The mashed potatoes were mediocre. The broccoli was fine. It will probably be another two years before the commercials convince me to wander into the place again.

I didn't expect a prime cut of meat, but this was the toughest steak I ever tried to eat. Could have strung a long bow with the sinue and hunted down a more tender piece of meat.

At this location, Curb side to go means you have to pick up your food at the bar. It's pretty clear they just don't care.

I had been to this restaurant before and had a pretty good experience. I went there tonight, and stood at the door for two minutes and was not even acknowledged, much less seated. I turned around and walked out. I called and spoke to the manager after waiting on hold, and he did not seem very concerned. I will not be back.

The cheesy corn was the worst thing I've ever had there. The chips for our appetizer were stale. Seems to be no quality control onsite. The baked potato was a rock. Will be the last $40 I ever spend at an Applebees.

Really slow service. Took almost two hours to get our appetizer and dessert. The dessert came out first!! 3 stars because the food when we got it was good.
(3)Michael I.
