As we were rolling down I-20 the other day, my wife expressed a hankering for BBQ so I pulled up Yelp and found we were only one exit away from Madison and Big Kev's. We liked everything about this place, from the friendly staff to the blues on the sound system. And oh yeah, the food. I had the 5 oz pulled pork plate (sauce on the side), mac and cheese and brunswick stew. All excellent, meat was juicy and a good portion, the mac and cheese was like momma used to make. They had a good selection of Georgia craft beers, along with a full menu including catfish, which I will try on my next trip back. A very welcoming place that seemed to cater to locals and tourists alike. Not too far off the interstate if you're travelling, so give it a try.

Ran across this bbq gem on a day trip to Madison. Both got the combo plates. Plenty of food too! Brisket was amazing. Ribs and pork were great too. Collards were divine. Oh, a must have are the fried pickles with their special dipping sauce!

We'd driven past Big Kev's many and had been wanting to give them a try so on a whim one day we drove there to see what they are all about. As soon as we walked in the restaurant, we were greeted warmly with smiling faces. The good service continued with drinks and some help with the menu items but after that, the wheels came off the BBW wagon. It took a very long time to receive our food, about 30 minutes. At one point our server got our hopes up but it turned out that she brought us a plate that was supposed to go to a different table. There were only three occupied tables in the place and we observed that all three tables had a problem. One table had three guests, the first two were served and then when they were almost done eating, they brought out the third dinner. Our dinners were pretty bad. My wife had BBQ chicken that was so overcooked that it felt like a mouthful of sawdust. She simply couldn't eat it. Her crinkle cut french fries were nothing special...any fast food joint serves the same and her baked beans tasted like they were fresh from a can. My Brunswick Stew had the consistency of baby food puree, it looked like it had been run through a blender and was nothing but mush. My pulled pork plate tasted good but was cold and the baked potato was not fully cooked. To be fair they had a large group in a party room in another building but we paid over $30 for our two dinners and wished we had gone to Cracker Barrel instead. The people there were very warm and friendly so we may give them another try but gosh it was pretty awful food.

I don't know where these people are eating at with all these five stars. This is not a five star restaurant. The brisket was not bad but very small. Fried okra was not done if you have ever had fried okra not done its nasty. Mac and cheese not bad but again small portion. Ribs not bad good portion not worth $17. Baked beans been baking all day. All of this should have already been made, but it took 45 min to get our food. Our waitress forgot us a few times which didn't help. Our bill was $38 for two people no alcohol, tea and lemonade.

Okay, the atmosphere is perfect. Great building, friendly staff, blues on the Hifi. Food is great. Well worth the time it took from 20W. Just off the exit, you can get the standards, but another few miles will be an experience.

WHAT A FIND. I am a cross country driver and I sample bbq's on a weekly basis. I have been to all the top names in bbq's. Blacks (texas), Pappys smokehouse (StLouis), Dreamland (Alabama ). Plus many more. Kevs is right up there. I had the 3 meat Ribs, Brisket, pulled pork. Collard greens and brunswick stew. Everything was outstanding. The atmosphere was very pleasant and the staff was outstanding and very attentive. I WILL BE BACK. ITS WORTH THE TRIP.

My mouth is happy after eating at Big Kev's. Brisket plate with tender collards and yummy baked beans!! Friendly, efficient service. Only wish I had had room for the fresh peach cobbler. But I'll be back!!

Visiting from Texas and was pleasantly surprised with what we found. The pulled pork was awesome, nice blues music, and a wide variety of cold beer.

Authentic everything! We came past the fast food near the interstate and lucked upon some of the best BBQ, fried chicken, catfish, and sides we've eaten in a long time. You will not regret stopping here! (Highly recommend the fried pork skins with buffalo sauce as well!)

This is a great place to eat!! One of my favorites. Everything is great! But do not be in a hurry. Service is slow! You will be there for a while and in the summer sit down stairs. It is to hot in the main restaurant! I give this restaurant five stars because the food is great!!

My wife and I dined at Big Kev's BBQ while visiting Madison. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. I was surprised how amazing the chicken tenders tasted, especially at a BBQ joint! The pork was flavorful and all the sides were delicious. If we are ever in Madison again, we will definitely return.

Was passing through Madison and took a chance on Big Kev's. Man this is some really damn decent 'cue! We ordered fried catfish on the bone, brisket and some pulled pork. The pork was good, moist and pleasantly smokes quoit being overpowering. Brisket, wow fork tender and very moist. I love good brisket and this was very good indeed. Now I've got a thing for catfish on the bone. It's impossible to find in Atlanta, choking hazard is the excuse I often get. So when these beautiful 11" whole fish were dropped in front of me I was excited. The batter was crisp, fish piping hot and not a touch of oil or grease to be seen. I'm coming back soon, real soon. Thanks Big Kev.

This place is a total hidden gem! Don't let the outside fool you, Big Kev's is warm and friendly on the inside, with the best BBQ you'll find! Start with the homemade meat skins, with house hot sauce. They're brought to your table still popping from the hot oil. Best pig skins you'll have had, bar none! Next comes the BBQ, of course. With so many different entrees to choose from, it can be overwhelming. Take my advice: you can NOT go wrong with anything on this menu. That being said, the ribs are to die for. So tender, they simply fall apart trying to pick one up. Even the BONES are tender, if that tells you anything. And the meat is just saturated with that fresh smoked flavor. The Brunswick stew is also the best I've ever had. It's thick, flavorful and absolutely full of fresh shredded pulled pork. All sides are house made and perfectly seasoned; even the fries are superior! If you're in town and craving BBQ, look no further. The staff are attentive and friendly, and your drinks will never be empty. I'll add that the sweet tea is perfection. Definitely worth a visit, or should I say, multiple!

You walk in and smell the seasoned bbq aroma and hear blues background music. Range of plates and options. Between the two of us we sampled the ribs, pulled pork and beef brisket. All three were some of the best bbq we have ever had. The "fixins" included fried okra, Brunswick stew and baked beans all good but overshadowed by the incredible meat!

Wow, not sure about the positive reviews. The ribs were burnt. They were out of brisket and macaroni and cheese on a Saturday night at 6:00. The pork BBQ was soggy and the Texas toast like a brick. The worst part was my baked potato smelled like the kitchen sink. That dirty rang smell, ugh.

We went here for dinner on a Sunday around. 5pm. It was hot inside the place.....think the air conditioning might be out. The Blues music and bbq nostalgia was a nice touch and they had some great items on the menu. My husband loved the sweet tea and we both loved the smells coming from the kitchen. The food was killer, so delicious. We loved all of it. My reason for the four stars though is the lack of air conditioning. I started to swear in the place.

I don't know why there aren't more reviews about this great little BBQ joint. The pork is smoked slow and slightly charred. Also had the Brunswick stew, which was thick and tastey, just the way I like it. The collards were just a little too salty for my taste. I'm sure it was an off day. The cornbread is sweet and perfect. The bun for my sandwich was a real bun and slightly toasted. The BBQ sauce is a thick peppery-sweet marvel, served warm. Big Kev even asked about my to go order and if I had everything I needed. I can certainly say that Big Kev has the best BBQ in Madison, hands down. Keep up the good cookin Kev!

Stopped by for lunch on a day trip to Madison. First off, the staff and the cleanliness of the place was impeccable! We started of with fried pickles, which are my husband's favorite and they were the best we've had. Hot, fresh, and the breading stayed on the pickle. We both got pulled pork plates, which were very good. Will be our new go to in Madison

If you are in the mood for BBQ...come to Big Kev's BBQ in Madison, Georgia. Not only is the food great, and I mean "off the chain" great; but also the staff are very friendly, personable, professional, and charming! I had the BBQ chicken express lunch, and the chicken was very tasty. The side dishes I had were macaroni and cheese and collard greens. To be honest, I had the same thing last night (prepared at home), and this is what it should have tasted like. We really enjoyed it. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone coming to Madison!

Delicious BBQ, not too sweet. The brisket was fatty, smokey and wonderful. My girlfriend had the catfish and she loved it. Great service. Want to try the basket of skins next time!

We were on I- 20 and pulled up the restaurants for Madison. Read the 2 reviews and decided to go. My wife and I share a lot so I got to sample the pulled pork, ribs, and fried fish filets. The ribs were outstanding. The fried fish and pulled port was great .The fried fish was hot with a nice fried coating. The pulled pork comes without a sauce, You add it at the table if you want sauce. I was surprised the fish was so good for a BBQ joint. We also had potato salad, slaw, fried okra and stew. The stew was the only thing I think was a little disappointing. It had an ok taste, but it was closer to a mash. Portions are big. We left stuffed. The waitress was very personable. I nice southern lady. She described everything for us and made recommendations. We took most of them and she was right about the food.

The restaurant is nice, what you would expect a Georgia barbecue house. We visited it on a Saturday at lunch. We had a catfish plate and a rib plate. Catfish plate was excellent, rib plate really not very good - overcooked, dry, slathered with out-of-the-bottle hickory flavor St Louis style barbecue sauce. Brunswick stew was okay, mac & cheese boring, fried okra perfect. All in all definitely not a five star experience.

Wasn't ready for lunch, but couldn't pass up the delicious aroma coming from Big Kev's! We split a huge pulled pork sandwich...so tender and good spicy sauce. We'll definitely be back to try more from the menu!
