Grilled chicken Cesar salad was good. Mac and cheese is awesome, I had Hawaiian Chicken special. It was good. It was a little pricey and service was slow.

We came here for a friends going away party and they gave us the entire patio area which was cool. The beers are cold and cheap here, just they way I like them. The classic bar fare was good in my opinion so I didn't go into other stuff on the menu. Everything was reasonably priced and the staff was nice. Wings were ok here, but I really liked the chicken fingers here and recommend them if you go.

Good food, service could have been a little better. I got the blackened mahi mahi sandwich and it was awesome! Very hot and fries were good too. Pretty good beer selection.

Ive been going to this place for years for one reason and one reason only, their chicken parmesan is the absolute best i've ever had in my life. All of there other food is really good also, it's usually slow most of the time which sucks for the employees but it's nice to go to chill, hang out, and have good food in a quiet atmosphere

So we have lived in the area for a few years and this was our first time here. Place looks nice but that is where it ends. Typical bar food at non bar prices. Started off with fried pickles for $7. About 25 pickle slices that were more cornmeal than pickle. They were fried harder than a rock. Sauce was good though. I got a burger medium rare. It was OK but tasted like it was bought in pre- formed patty state. Fries were OK and the truffle Mac and cheese was OK. Wife got the Philly cheese steak that was lacking on meat and cheese. Waitress was cute and friendly. Overall, we won't be coming back for a $40 meal that was not worth it.

The portions are large. The food is good except for the mac n cheese or the white truffle mac n cheese. This time I had the stuffed grouper and didn't realize that everything was fried. It didn't state it on the menu. It was good but I didn't want it fried. We will eat there again as long as my Grandma lives down the street. Won't make a special visit if she moves. Wasn't crowded for a Friday night which was nice.

I give my humble praise to the beer and sport gods for this hole-in-the-wall bar that is not a dump. Actually, praise also goes to the owner. Don't get me wrong, a bar that is old and has a great personality is awesome. But sometimes you just get tired of worrying about whether or not you should eat that pickle you know has been in the jar for two years. American Tavern gives bar enthusiasts the option of going to a bar that is nice on the inside and out. The tavern also has pretty darn good food. My only gripe is that the prices are somewhat elevated, than a typical bar in this area. But the extra cost is probably attributed to the bar's quality and "old-pickle avoidance" investment on the owners behalf.

I think we are paying such a high price for food here because of the nice decor....We are certainly not paying for the taste of the food. Went once and will not be back. Would prefer a shabby restaurant with good food than a nice one with not so good food.

Service was ok. decor dark (painted black floors, no ceiling) and a florescent bulb above the booth that left us wanting to wear shades to eat. Not very kid friendly, mac n cheese on menu but can't get it with a kids meal as a side ??? Too expensive for what it was. Best thing from all 4 meals ordered was the Mac n Cheese. Oh and bottle prices for draft beer. Skip this one.

Very over priced for quality of food and service. Do not let the pictures on the website and the dcor fool you, this is a mediocre restaurant at best. The atmosphere suggests quality food, but you end up with pretty grease bar food.
