Service was good. For price portion size small. The mashed potatoes tasted like instant and the corn on Cobb over cooked and burnt on one side. No they were not busy, 4 tables. It was 8pm when we went in maybe managers were tired and didn't do a quality food check. Will go back but to a different location next time.

OK food. nice atmosphere. prices are reasonable. I think all food is pre-prepared and instant. country fried steak was obviously one of those frozen-breaded patties. mashed potatoes tasted instant. service was mostly fast and friendly.

We are frequent visitors to Folks but after today we will NOT be going back! I ordered the tilapia which was good and my boyfriend ordered the pork chop. After several bites into the pork chop he discovered it was RED on the inside!! I felt so bad for him because he loves pork chops. I couldn't believe it..

Folks used to be a great place. I go to school and my father works in Lawrenceville so occasionally we would grab lunch at Folks. Folks was known for good service, good food, and was quick yet not rushed. Recently we went to Folks and were less than happy. The waiter seemed unattentive and uninformed on the menu. He couldn't tell us the soup of the day, he couldn't get the drinks right, and he carried himself like he didn't care. The server who brought us our food just huffed and slid the plate without asking who ordered what and scurried away. The food was decent wasn't very hot. Its sad really. In the past this place was great. I don't know if they had a bad day or if this is going to continuious; but we are unlikely to return.

Been here a couple times now, it's relatively close to my office. I would say the mixed reviews are accurate. This was one of the first places we ate after relocating here in 2012. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's hot and sometimes the service is decent. A combo of the 3 would likely keep the place open, particularly with the shortage of decent non corporate spots in the area. One positive is that the food is priced really well - but you might have to send it back to get what you want.

Been here twice now and both times its been okay. If you like greasy fried food loaded with SALT, this is the place for you. Everything has salt in, the biscuits were even salty. Had indigestion both times after eating here and probably got the mouth blisters here too. Beware of restaurants with high ceilings. One baby crying sounds like a dozen babies screaming. Just sayin'

People were super friendly. Place seemed clean. Service was fast. That's all good and they get a star for that, but sadly I wanted to eat food. Started with fried green tomatoes. I don't have a lot to compare to but these seemed pretty good and hot. They give you enough for 8 people. STEAK AND SHRIMP Ordered the shrimp and country fried steak all you can eat combo. Things turned south here. Really wanted the country fried steak and why not throw in some value fried shrimp? Country fried steak was burnt and dry, cover it in gravy and its not that bad. Shrimp was a frozen fish stick variety that has clearly been thawed and refrozen once or twice. It was a medley of old fish and freezer burnt flavors. Cocktail sauce to the rescue? No, it enhanced the old fish flavor, Couldn't eat those. Still hungry, 2nd pc of country fried steak was the appropriate color (tan, not black and tan) and was tasty. Not burnt. Not sure how to completely different products come out of the kitchen like that. SIDES Green beans and hashbrown caserolle. I want to say the hashbrown caserole tastes like nothing but thats not exactly right. There was a hint of old garbage flavor. One byte was one too many. Green beans were standard Italian cut from the can with a pc of ham thrown in. Best part of the meal! Tried the fried shrimp too as the girlfriend tried to eat some and they had a similar old fish flavor, tho not quite as pronounced. Chicken fingers were ok. Stomach discomfort and pain followed the meal. I guess this a dieter's all you can eat special cuz you cant eat much of it.

This is a great little restaurant to get your southern food fix. I particularly like that the menu indicates vegetables that have meat in them (cooked with lard, ham, etc..) Most southern restaurants do not consider vegetarians, but Folks is obviously thinking of the veg heads' choices. I would definitely recommend this place if you are in the mood for fried okra, fried green tomatoes or other southern fixings. You have a wide choice of good southern comfort food that is vegetarian friendly.

I normally love southern food but this place was way too greasy and it made me sick afterward. The service was great but I will not be going here again.

This is my 4 time here. My first 3 times the chicken was so good. Slap your momma good. This time it wasn't good at all. Not crispy, real greasy. The peach muffins very good. Mac n cheese ok. Fried tomatoes good, onion rings good. Server was excellent. Good is very reasonable. Good for kids. 3 stars just cuz of the other good times but this time was not good. People only come for the fried chicken so if this is the "new chicken" I won't be back. Oh yeah good dessert. :)

I ate them because I was pass hungry. But I don't like flat frozen crunchy shrimp. I had to ask for my peach muffins and only got one of my sides didn't make a big deal out of it because my waitress was nice. When the hostess got my muffins seem like I aggravated her so I wouldn't dare tell her a side was missing.

Hmmm Let's see. Our server vickie tried her best. Who ever is cooking in the back sent out some lukewarm spongy fried okra! :( FRIED OKRA FAIL FOLKS!!!! The 3stars are for the fried green tomatoes/buttermilk dressing. The delicious Turkey melt, crispy fried chicken juicy and well seasoned. It had been a while since I had folks, so today I said let's pay them a visit. Folks is a country kitchen the place has country decor and old fashioned feel kinda like a cafeteria. Our visit was okay. It wasn't the best. Hey it's Folks!! :)

Had a coupon and was out and about early, so decided to try Folks today for lunch, shortly after they opened. Hadn't been to Folks since it was called Po' Folks! Tried their new Bbq pulled pork plate (will try to attach a photo of my meal). It was better than I expected: meaty, juicy pork with not a lot of fat, a cup of Brunswick stew that was very tasty, if not exactly traditional, and yummy fried okra that tasted like it was fresh out of the skillet! For my palate, the food was not overly seasoned (i.e., salty). A delicious lunch, along with polite and attentive service, would have earned 5 stars in my book, except that the dining room could have been a bit cleaner, especially the blinds and windows. If flavorful food alone is the priority, then this place rocks!

Had Folks in Lawrenceville cater our daughter's wedding. We had fried chicken, country fried steak and brisket. Along with several sides. It was fantastic! We had many guests comment that it was the best wedding food they had ever had. Elaine was a pleasure to work with and the servers were all pleasant to our guests. Highly recommend for your next event.
