I was told about how great this place was, so the expectations were quite high for Danthai. This Thai restaurant is located right next to Shahi Bazaar Grocery Store in the River Oak Shopping Plaza right off Oak Rd and Five Fork Trickum Rd. The first time that I came here there was only another couple inside the restaurant. How could a place so fantastic not be busy I thought? The owner came to the door as soon as I entered, welcomed me, provided a menu and brought a craft of ice water. I ordered the Pad Thai and Tom kha kai, man both the Pad Thai and Soup were incredible. The soup here is served smoking hot, so don't burn your lips while eating it. I have now Eaton here a total of four times, twice in one week. Each time was perfect and extremely consistent. Even to-go items come well portioned in size, something that does not happen at most places. The guy who runs this place definitely knows how to provide top quality service, based on this and the quality of the food here, this place should be busy all the time. I heard this place has been in business for 30 years, which I see why. If you want another Thai dish that is not on the menu, they will make it for you here too. That is something. I'll definitely be eating here a lot on days that I do not make my lunch. The second time I visited, the just closed, but the owner had the chef make me something to-go anyhow, which was very nice of him. If you love Thai food and enjoy excellent service, Danthai is the place is to visit. The prices here are very reasonable as well. [Review #328] (Eighty Eighth Review of 2015)

Small, unassuming place with absolutely delicious food. It is well out of my normal boundaries, but I was in the area for business. I will probably make the trek here just to come back and try some of the other menu options. I had the green curry, with chicken. Perfect flavor. Perfect heat. Vegetables cooked lightly but not left too crunchy. Meat tender and juicy. Lots of curry liquid to drizzle over my rice. I will definitely be back!

Very good Thai food in a very nondescript but clean strip mall restaurant. I enjoy Thai and went with my two sons for dinner on Sunday evening. The place was pretty busy and the staff were working hard but efficiently. The food was fab - my Pad Thai was the best I have had in Gwinnett. I used to like Thai Diner and will still eat there but they have been going downhill - the place really needs a good cleaning and renovating after having had nothing done to it in 15 years (although I do like that Thai Diner serves Sushi). My sons had the Pad See Uw and it was great. Also the appetizer Golden Bag was very good, it was quite a treat and very reasonable. Highly recommend, will be back even though it is a little further for us coming from near the mall of Georgia area.

This was my place growing up. They have amazing, fresh food, and the owner is one of the nicest guys I've met. Their wonton soup is the best I've ever had. I also really enjoy the golden bags on the appetizer menu. For entrees I usually go with the pad Thai or the cashew nut chicken. I love all the veggies that come in the cashew nut chicken. If you're looking for Thai around here, this is your spot (followed closely by Sri Thai). Don't be afraid of its outward appearance, it's always clean on the inside- its just been around a while! Enjoy.

Let me start by saying that my family and I have been going to this restaurant ever since they opened, which is pretty close to being longer than I have been alive. Needless to say, the family is extremely nice! Now to the food, by far my favorite thing at Danthai is their golden bags because I typically can't find them at many other places! In fact, I order just that on a regular basis to go. You can't really go wrong with any of the entrées, so don't be too hesitant to try something new! Definitely would recommend the restaurant to anyone who wants yummy and quick Thai food.

This place has the BEST Thai food that I have ever eaten. Other places are mediocre at best when compared to Danthai. The strip mall location leaves alot to be desired, but I am glad I tried it, because it truly is a hidden gem in Gwinnett. I have had the pad thai, massaman curry, spring rolls, tom yum soup, curry puffs, dumplings, and roasted chili stir fry and EVERY single item has been delicious--there really is no misses at this restaurant. My personal favorites are the roasted chili stir fry, because it is super spicy but still flavorful and the tom yum soup.

Food was okay. I got basil chicken. My husband got spicy beef curry. We were not crazy about our food. Clean place and nice server though. Menu was clear.

My family and I have been going to Danthai for years, so when my husband and I moved back to the neighborhood, I wondered if the food was still good. The owner is still there and the food is still delicious!! I prefer eat-in over takeout since the flavors are better fresh. I'm a very healthy eater and try to eat lots of fresh veggies, there's an abundance of that here and you can easily avoid high-fat ingredients (coconut milk, beef, etc). Finally the prices are so reasonable my lunch was less than $10. Simply decorated and clean, but not frilly, so don't expect luxurious furnishing / decor.

My family has been going to this restaurant for many years. The food is always top-notch (The Masaman Curry is my favorite, and we always start off with the coconut chicken soup!), the prices are very reasonable, and the staff is fantastic. It is somewhat of a hole-in-the-wall place, but the taste is out of this world. It's always a relaxed dining experience, which puts it over the top for me and my family.

More than the food, the main reason to come here is because of the staff. They are so genuinely sweet and accommodating. We were feeling really hot inside, so the owner brought out a personal fan to be placed near our table. It was very nice, and made the dinner experience all the more enjoyable. The food is mediocre, and the interior can use some work, but if anything it's a nice place to grab a quick bite and especially to come for the staff.

Went back. Didn't disappoint. Has the best Thai tea in Snellville. The rice was decent too. The customer service is what really makes the difference. Nice people!

"Today is better than two tomorrows" Thai Proverb Had a chance to try Danthai today, and it was pretty good! While no stranger to "hole in the wall" restaurants, I was a little suspect of this very worn strip center and the drab, spartan interior of Danthai, I was equally suspect of all the "Best Thai" accolades here, so I ordered my usual Veggie Pad Thai for comparison. We also ordered the vegetarian basil rolls and fried tofu as well as another noodle dish. The basil rolls were rolled in a wrap that was way too thick, the fried tofu appetizer was simple but not bad. The Pad Thai, while not presented in traditional style, had great flavor. The other entree was also pretty good. What's interesting about Danthai is that what it is missing in the food is what is missing in the restaurant, presentation. Going out for Thai is usually an experience that involves all the senses. You can usually count on sharp decor, whether traditional or modern, and maybe some soothing background music, either Asian or classical. But even if these are missing, you can almost always count on the plates having some touch of class to them, making them visually appealing, sometimes it might be a carved garnish, or at least colorful vegetable shreds, or sprouts piled high, but not here. The dishes, while solid, were as boring as the quiet, worn restaurant. The prices were very fair for the offering, almost ensuring my return, but probably for takeout. So in the end, Danthai is A-OK, and while not a great place for a date, Danthai works well for when you want Thai today, and not tommorrow.

No Tony D...this restaurant is NOT consistent with Thai food. I cook my own Thai food, shop at numerous Asian Markets, but the spices, fish sauce, thai bird peppers, etc and cook my own. The consistency of the sauce was "thin" meaning "weak", and sweet when it is not supposed to be sweet. Basil Chicken is not supposed to be a sweet dish! Thai food, as with Vietnamese food is supposed to be a balance of salty, sweet, spicy, sour...not overpowering of sugar. I'm a "destination" eater, and will travel all over the city to get good food. This one happens to be close to me, but I frequent thai food restaurants, not just locally, but whenever I travel for business. I have had La'ab (larb) and Spicy Basil Chicken hundreds of times, and where they all vary, they are consistently at least the same dish! Not syrup sweet like Chinese food (oddly, it reminded me more of chinese food than thai food). In regards to being clean..like I said, I don't need nice fixtures, nice wood tables, etc...but roach traps and sticky traps where you can see them??!? Does this place not want to stay open? If you want real reviews, from real people..then maybe don't be so defensive Tony.

Not sure if it was the fact that I was starving and the last food I had was almost 10 hours ago but the food and overall experience here was great. Started out with the calamari which I would rate as the in the top 5 of best calamari I have ever had. The other members of the party ordered shrimp and eggplant dish and even though this is a thai place somebody ordered sweet and sour chicken which was very good. I ordered spicy basil pork which was the perfect amout of spice and flavor. Overall one of the best thai food experiences I have ever had and will be going back soon for some more. The best thing is this place is less than a mile from my house and I have never considered going there but now I think I will be a regular.

Really good thai food, we usually take it home as the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired.

I liked the food a lot. It came very fast and tasted very good.

Great Thai comfort food. The atmosphere is certainly not glamorous, but the food is good and its right around the corner from where we live. Yay! We are also fans of Lavender Bistro on Scenic Highway. But after eating here tonight, we discovered that they have a bigger menu and you can't beat "right around the corner" in Gwinnett County. :)

It's true, you can't get better Thai food anywhere outside of Danthai. Their prices are reasonable, the portions are large and above all they will serve up some serious heat to anyone brave enough. Just ask for "Thai Hot". It is the hottest they serve, but - you know - they have mild, medium and hot as well. You can order any dish with your choice of meat (pork, chicken, shrimp) or tofu and customize the heat. The thai tea here is good and even the regular tea has that thai tea taste if you want something less sweet and rich. A list of my favorites here would be too long - just know that you can't go wrong eatting here, mark my words!

Absolute best Thai food I have eaten in Atlanta. I have eaten here since I was going with my parents in the 3rd grade (in college now). I drive over 1.5 hours to eat here sometimes. Ambiance is actually really nice. Sure, it is in a shopping center in Lawrenceville, and it could be decorated better, but the quality of kind service and just top notch Thai food makes it so worth it!

  • Blue A.

I actually come here often for their spring rolls and green curry chicken.. Very good and the owners/family are equally nice. Haven't tried the full menu, but the food mention above are great.

This restaurant got fantastic authentic Thai food, the restaurant it self look dated and old. But I am not here to judge how the restaurant look as long as they got great food I am in. The price are decent for the portion. Also they have great and fast services

Dan Thai has the best food I have ever had in my life. No exaggeration! I loved this place for years. We lived by the owners until they moved and the restaurant is right up the street. They are great people. Noy (sp?) owns the place and his father, I believe, and son(s) work there. Plus others but those are the regulars you'll see up front when you come in. Just really awesome people. Anyways, I will never say this about any other restaurant's food. This restaurant is the reason Thai food is my favorite cuisine. I recommend everything on the menu. But especially the broccoli wide noodle, festival noodle, coconut chicken soup, massaman curry, vegetarian basil rolls, and the fried tofu. And everything else on the menu... I always choose tofu as the meat option and I think it compliments the dishes soooo well and better than meat, in my opinion. Generally speaking entrees are under $10 and apps are under $5. I try to eat here once a week, literally.

Oh my gosh, I've been having cravings for some good pad thai for a couple of weeks or so and this place did its job. My craving was filled. Service was funtastic. They were friendly and fast. The shop from the outside may make it seem extravagant and expensive, but prices were actually pretty fair. The shop appeared to be own by a family. Decorations were nice. Shop was clean and organized. Food was delicious. I ordered a really spicy chicken pad thai and I was love-strucken. Eventhough, I did want it a little bit more spicier, but it was alright I can handle it. Overall, I am willing to come back and try some of their other dishes. Please note: - The drive there may seem scary coming from up North, but it's worth it. - If you like some heat in your dish, make sure to tell them you want extra spicy or really spicy. For me really spicy was not spicy enough for me, but it was alright. - Have tiny restroom stalls.

Danthai is my go-to for great Thai food. Whether ordering off of the menu or from their special board my family and I have never been disappointed. After our first visit we have been greeted by name by their friendly staff. They always take the time to answer any questions. The service is excellent, the portions are generously sized and use fresh ingredients, the prices are reasonable, and the restaurant is clean. I highly recommend it.

This place has hits and misses. Some dishes are good, and the rest is OK. And sometimes the communication is the problem. When I asked for seafood dish, they told me that it has shrimp, squid, and scallops in it, and the dish was $13(!!). But when I got the food to go and opened the package, there were no scallops in it. I rather should stick to something cheaper then. When I asked the serving size for Tom yum goon soup, they said "2 cups". When I received the order to go, I thought the soup serving is too small. So I poured the soup into a measuring cup and measured it. It was 1 cup, and the soup was awfully bland, unfortunately. There was no tanginess or shrimp flavor to it. I wouldn't justify $5 for it. If you find your fav dish that's reasonably priced, that would be ok. I don't even dine in there ever since I witnessed that they dump the clean silverwares after they washed them, right on the table ( probably not disinfected) and rolling them into napkins.

  • Dorena N.

The place wasn't empty, but it wasn't packed, which may have been because sparse layout of the tables. The man who brought us out utensils seemed easily confused. We ordered dumplings, fried tofu, fried squid, chicken satay, and pad thai. The dumplings were really good and tasted kind of like the shrimp cakes (?) you would find at dim sum. The tofu was pretty bland, but the sauce that it came with made up for it. The peanut sauce that came with the chicken satay was really good. The pad thai wasn't as good as other Thai places I've been to. The most disappointing thing however, was the Thai tea. It was very bland. I might come back for the dumplings, but that's about it.

No its not a fancy restaurant but the customer service is always so good. Every time we have gone the man that owns the restaurant has personally come to our table and to check on our food and our experiences. The coconut soup is absolutely delicious as well as all the other entrees. I will always come back to this restaurant because of the excellent service and delicious food

This place is amazing! And vegetarian friendly, which is great for me. My husband and I always get take out from Danthai when we are in town visiting the in-laws. Not only is the food delicious, it's always well cooked and served very quickly. Large servings and you get wonderful service, a nice quiet atmosphere, and delicious food for a great price. The owner always had a smile on his face and a gracious attitude. The fried rice is my personal favorite

So delicious! Good was exactly as you would expect Thai food to taste. Gave 4 stars because the bathroom was not very inviting.

  • Paul H.

I have been going here for over 20 years and I have always had a great experience. If you want authentic Thai dishes, all you have to do is ask, the owner is from Thailand. My favorite Thai place.

  • Larysa H.

I have to admit the plaza they are in sucks and its hard to find the entrance your fist time around. Also they really need to redecorate badly. They keep it organized and clean. The food is outrageous... The red curry is my favorite, always will be, but I have never been disappointed with any dish I've had there. So don't let the decor stop you, enjoy every bite!

    (5)
  • Lynn A.

The chicken curry was delicious and the rice was perfect not sticky or hard like other places I have been. The location is deceiving but since they have repaved the parking lot it looks a bit nicer. The food tasted fresh and not overly seasoned. The decor needs a little work. If you are looking for a quiet hole in the wall place to enjoy really good Thai food this is it.

Masaman curry with chicken, medium spicy), pork satay and spring rolls, my idea of a great dinner to grab and take home. I love this place, always good and friendly and I love to support local small businesses.

I have been coming to Dan Thai since 1998! I am new to Yelp, so that is why I am just reviewing it. I am obviously a fan. Noi (probably not spelling correctly) is the owner and after you come here of a while, he knows your name and your family. The food here is amazing and the best Thai you can find in the area. As far as appetizer rec., the fresh basil rolls are absolutely the best I have had. The sweet and spicy sauce served which them is excellent as well. The soups are delicious-- I rec both the lemongrass and the coconut chicken. As far as main courses, any of the curry dishes are amazing. The pad thai and pad see eu are both wonderful as well. If you like your food on the spicy side, you can ask for extra spices. (On the other hand, if you don't like spicy at all, you can tell them that and they can make it very mild for you). The prices are very reasonable-- there are lunch combinations that include a small cup of soup and a spring roll in the 6-8$ range. Dinner is only slightly more. You can call in for take out as well. would definitely rec giving it a try-- you will be hooked!

I was craving Panang Chicken this afternoon and decided to give this place a try. Heeding the advice of prior posts, I requested a "little spicy" because I like some heat. I couldn't eat over half of my entree it was too hot. I'll chick it up to a miscommunication. The dining room was full and guests were referring to the owner (?) by his last name, which is a good sign. I will definitely give this place another chance, I just won't ask for anything a "little spicy" next time.

Best Thai food in Gwinnett hands down. IMO best I've had in metro Atlanta. My brother works near Thai Town in LA and says he can't find better. You really just can't go wrong here. Love me some Dan Thai!!!

Great value for the money. You can exactly get what you expect from a Thai restaurant. Pros - good food , and friendly service, lot of parking space. Cons- no ambience to back again , not decor

It's doesn't get better than Danthai. It's been a favorite family dining spot since it open many years ago. The same is incredible and the food even better.

  • ChauPha N.

I had lunch here today. I ordered the pad Thai with chicken and shrimp. Added extra chicken. Also ordered the red curry seafood with extra chicken and bell peppers. I gave this place three stars because they have a very mean pad thai. But it wasn't four stars because their red curry seafood was really lacking. It was very thin, while other thai places, their curry is usually thicker. Which in my opinion is better. It has more flavor than something that seems to be water thin. Overall, I would come back here for the pad thai. :)

Excellent Thai food. Fast and friendly service. Try the red curry duck and the beef in plum sauce. Yum!!!

Went in the just to check it out. when I went during lunch I was given a coconut soup with an egg roll. In the coconut there were piece of chicken, it was very good. I honestly forgot the name of the dishes I got but both were really tasteful. I got a dumpling dish that was sweet and savory. The I got a curry chicken that has the normally potatoes, carrots and even pineapple!! this was delicious. I will be back.

For adding a western flare its still pretty spot on. AND if you know how to speak Thai you can order items that aren't on the menu. Give this place a shot its for sure is worth it. Very reasonable pricing and great people.

Our family has been going here for 15 years and we always try and make it back when we are in the mood for Thai. Every dish is superb, and for those who cannot handle too much spice, they cook dishes to your taste. Service is good, manager we have known for a long time is quite friendly. No surprises with the takeout which we also do on occasion, it is excellent as well. It is true that the location is not pretty, and it is not decorated much inside, but who cares, I come to eat good food. They got that right.

  • Carol F.

After hearing rave reviews about this in multiple papers and decent reviews from yelp I decided to give this place a go. Perhaps I ordered the wrong dishes, the Rama Curry was bland and watery, not thick and flavorful as compared to other Thai restaurants, Pad Thai was bland as well. Only thing that saved the meal was the Calamari and Thai Tea. The restaurant looks like it needs some renovating on the inside, looks like an old outdated banquet hall. Also, some of the ceiling tiles needed repair. They did seem to have many loyal customers and many people ordering take-out. Unfortunately, I was not impressed and will not be returning. :[

I have dined and carried out from Danthai countless times. There are many good reasons why you should also consider them. I am not much of a Thai food expert but I do love Asian cuisine: Chinese, Hibachi, Sushi etc...So that being said I usually play it safe and get the Thai Basil Fried Rice, and it is heavenly! He will ask you if you want it spicy. Please be warned, if you say yes be prepared to drink pitcher after pitcher of water and work up a sweat! There are also several yummy things to choose from that are popular favorites such as the coconut soup, or calimari. The atmosphere is nothing special, which to me allows for a very comfortable and quiet meal. I love taking my girlfriend on dates there because we can always hear each other talk. Last but not least the Owner is very kind, courteous and a great chef. I promise you'll enjoy your meal whatever you decide. The owner is very helpful, so if you have any questions or want to modify a meal, he will be more than happy to make your food to order. Give it a try for sure!

One of my favorite restaurants - period! I love Thai food in general, but Danthai in particular. My wife and daughter do not like Thai food, so as soon as they travel (and I'm left home because of work), this becomes my nightly dinner spot! I love the Panang Curry with vegetables - with a "little" extra heat. Wow! I cannot get enough! As other reviewers have mentioned, the atmosphere is lacking, but the flavor isn't! The strip center is low rent - but that's okay by me; Danthai prices are super reasonable. I can't wait for my family's next vacation (without me) so I can head back to Danthai and eat what I like!!!

Very good Thai food! We've been going there a few times a month for 6 years. We've always had great food and service! The owners are very accomidating to our requests. They will substitute anything. We ask for dishes to be done vegan a lot, and sometimes we just ask them to make us something that's not even on the menu, and they are more then happy to cook up anything we suggest! Best Thai in town! GOOD PEOPLE!

  • Aznstyle G.

The service was good, however, I was not impressed with the food. The soup lacked veggies and meat. It was basically broth. The other dishes I got were sub-par. I will not be returning to this place since there are better Thai places in the area.

  • Kaytea L.

I really can't fathom the bad reviews. I've been coming to Danthai for years and year s. I've always been met with outstanding food and service! As a pre-lunch treat, they bring you either of two amazing soups: Tom yum and coconut chicken soup. Whenever I have a cold, I get an order of Tom Yum to-go. It has the perfect spicy bite that works wonders or the sinuses and/or sore throat. 10x better than chicken noodle soup. Their coconut chicken soup is to die for. The soup is also served with a spring roll and sweet sauce. YUM! The curry dishes are great, but i usually stick with my lifelong favorite: Pad-Se-Ew. It's wide rice noodles, eggs, broccoli, baby corn, the meat of your choice, and other goodies stir fried together to create heaven in earth. I highly suggest it. The owner is a very nice, hard working man who appreciates his customers. Give this place a try!

After hearing so much raves about this place, I finally made a point to stop in after getting my threading done next door. Actually it was my tummy that was calling out Thai food today and what perfect yet oddly located was this place? We stopped by just after 5ish when it opens for dinner so it was very quiet and quite dark. The only light was coming from windows so the restaurant sorta has that old gloomy feel to it. The place was totally decked out with cheesy orchid flowers and other plants. Ha! As we were greeted and sat down, the waiter was a nice young guy. The first thing I noticed right away was a nice iced cold carafe of water brought over to us. I just wish that all the restaurants would use this as well because it was very convenient. My sis and I love to drink iced cold water and she definitely drinks A LOT of it so it was LOVE right off the bat! It earned 4 stars for this. We were recommended the Pad Thai along with Coconut Soup, Fresh Basil Spring Rolls and Seafood Fried Rice. The basil spring rolls was printed as (6) for $3.95. That threw me off when he brought it out that there are 2 spring rolls cut into 6 pieces. It's not 6 individually wrapped spring rolls so please keep that in mind when you order their rolls here. I thought it was very fresh and tasty so I didn't mind that it was cut into 6. The coconut soup was ok. It has a bit of tartness from the kaffir leaves. It was good to eat but i've had better. Ok, the finale was the pad thai and the seafood fried rice. YUMM!

The BEST Thai food in Gwinnett! My family has been coming here for years and it never disappoints! The owner is also very nice and friendly to old and newcomers. Need I also mention that their prices are amazing for the quality and amount of food you get. The decor has been the same for a while but it honestly really doesn't matter with the amazing food you're getting. You just can't go wrong.

The other reviews have pretty much said it all and I can only offer the same opinion -- good food, good prices, good service. My parents always like to say that I was "made in Thailand". They met at an Air Force base in the seventies ... lived off-base and ate Thai food every night at the local places. I took my mom to Danthai -- having seen the great reviews (and noticing the place is a few miles from my house ... can't figure out why I'd never seen it before) ... she said the food was fabulous. I ordered some "cow pot" and she got the pad thai ... fabulous, great tasting food. One of the other reviewers mentioned the "order by spice" method and I'm glad I read that because the server didn't mention it. I asked for mine to be hot ... and it was, but next time I'll ask for "Thai Hot" .... my pasty white skin must not have filled the server with the trust that I'd actually like my food hot.

Delicious! Great family owned business...my dad and I have been going there for almost 10 years now and it has never failed us. Noy (owner and chef) will make you any dish to order and if you want it spicy, you do need to request 'thai hot.' Lunch deal is great as you get soup and a spring roll with your meal...avg cost for lunch with tax is $7.40 (I eat there a lot during the weekdays!) my only complaint...not open for lunch on the weekend. Finally, I read an article about DanThai that talked about Noy having a restaurant in France and I do think there is an influence there that makes this food extra special. At the same time, maybe it makes it less authentic, as another reviewer mentioned that it is "good if you aren't Thai or have never been to Thailand." Just a thought.

I had their masaman chicken. I was not impressed by the sauce, preparation, or the protiens... Mediocre at best. Will not return.

Todd M complained that the sauces are thin...but this is not Chinese food. That is the normal consistency. This is family owned and it looks like a hole in the wall...but the food is the best Thai in Gwinnett county. Could the cleanliness be improved? Yes... but if you are looking for great Thai food...and at reasonable prices, then you have found it!

Located in a quiet international shopping plaza, as with most good places, its looks do not broadcast the food and service within. I had the tasty green curry with chicken, some nice jasmin rice and the mandatory thai iced tea. Definitely would go again and recommend it to others.

I travel over 60% for work and eat at Thai restaurants all over the country. This is the best one and I frequently drive the 30+ min drive to eat here. The restaurant is a hole in the wall in an old strip mall. However, the food and prices can't be beat. Don't let the decor or location dissuade you. A family owned and run restaurant, the staff is very friendly and will go out of their way to please. For appetizers, the Basil rolls are a must. The chicken larb and cucumber salad are also very good. We have never had a bad entree. Usually, we order a combination of Masaman curry, cashew nut or pad prik. The spicy basil noodle and fried rices are also very good. Lunch is available Mon-Fri and includes soup and a spring roll. Red curry catfish is a great lunch choice.

Best Thai food I've ever had. Still can't find a coconut chicken soup or Pad Thai that comes close to how delicious Danthai makes it. Even though the strip mall it's nestled in looks unsightly and sketchy, and the decor and atmosphere on the inside of the restaurant is bleak and a bit depressing, that's not why you have to go there. You go there because the food is amazing. Service is also fast and friendly for dine-in or carryout. I've been to this place so many times that it's ridiculous. It's unbelievable how this place manages to stay afloat year after year because the restaurant is empty every time you go in. Seems like they have a good carryout business (which the food is just as legit). After being to Thai restaurants all over the country, Danthai is still the best.

Great food, friendly staff, generous portions... a real find in Gwinnett!! I recently got married & moved to Gwinnett county after enjoying Atlanta & it's wealth of great restaurants for many years. I've been described as a "food snob" in the past & I really thought I'd be driving all the way back into town whenever I wanted a good meal of any sort, let alone Thai food. I was driving around last week in search of good take out & contemplating the drive to Atlanta when I signed onto Yelp's iPhone app for guidance. I read several reviews here that piqued my interest on Danthai so I gave them a shot. I am very glad I did! This place is a hole in the wall - don't let that scare you away. On the advice of a frequent Danthai diner I ordered the Thai dumplings, chicken satay, Danthai fried rice and Green Curry chicken. All were delectable, particularly the dumplings and green curry chicken. I just wish they had fish items on the menu other than catfish (I love grouper) but for the location & price I can promise you will love this place!

it's a good attempt on Thai food if you're not Thai or if you haven't been to Thailand... 3 stars for the food with 5 stars for the service & reasonable prices for generous portions...

My wife and I recently discovered Danthai, which is close to our house. We are training for a half marathon and this place has become a treat and serves as a reward after our long runs. Anyhow, the first time I came here I ordered the pard thai (that's what they named it). Spot on. It was the perfect balance of sweet and sour, and has depth of flavor. Thai food have always been one of our go-to dining out options and I have had a lot of pad thai's from different places in different states. This place is definitely one of the best if not the best. Thai of Norcross, Siamese Basil, and Kokai do not even come close IMO. In particular, the pad thai noodles there are a little on the sour side. And even though all thai restaurants use MSG, Thai of Norcross uses so much I get a headache after I eat there. Even the pad thai at Top Spice is better. The Pad Thai at Thaicoon is also good. The 2nd time we came I ordered the Broccoli Noodles (aka pad see ew) with chicken. Again delicious and the chicken pieces were tender and not dried out. The DW ordered the Spicy Basil Noodle (or pad kee mao), also very tasty and has a good amount of quality seafood in it. We will be returning to Danthai again and again to try different dishes. This restaurant is not big on decor and is located in an unassuming strip mall, but the food more than makes up for it!

Let me start off by saying that the service and staff alone gets 5 stars. The family is extremely friendly and attentive. However, the food isn't quite authentic thai food. Don't get me wrong, the food is delicious (especially the coconut chicken soup), but it's not the most authentic thai you can get. If you're in the mood for thai and you're a thai connoisseur, try Lavender Thai. Yes, yes, lots of "thai" in this review.

I was craving some thai a couple of weeks ago and my usual place in Lilburn is gone. I decided to try Danthai out since it was recommended by not only my boss but the COP of Lilburn. I am a fan!! I ordered my usual of course, pad thai. I asked for medium spicy. OMG! I was in la la land. The noodles were cooked to perfection. The flavor was a bit sweet but really spicy. The best part was that it was HOT temperature wise. I will be coming back soon. I just wish that it wasn't so out of the way for me.
