Food was good. I am not one to argue with phrases like "best I've ever had" because I don't know what people have had. It is good solid food-- but NOT phenomenal. Portions are a little small, white bread seems to be the filler, but tasty nonetheless. Easy access and convenient but I wouldn't drive out of my way or make a choice between this and others, even chain restaurants. The one unique thing I liked, as someone who really likes food, is the addition of crushed coriander seeds to the baked beans.

We stopped to get gas and this little place just happened to be there like a sign...a sign that it was lunchtime. The smell was wonderful and after getting our gas we decided to give Malson's a try and we are very glad we did! I had a loaded baked potato which comes with pulled pork on it and it was THE BEST I EVER HAD! Everything was cooked perfectly and you got just the right amount of toppings! My husband had a brisket and it was so tender and juicy, he could not ask for a better lunch meal. We also ordered a burger and it was full of flavor, as were the baked beans which my kids munched right up. They are picky eaters and for them to tear up the beans speaks volumes. The only con? The lemonade is not fresh, so do yourself a favor and opt for something from the gas station next door. Other than that? We will make this place our go-to stop anytime we are driving up and down 95!

I had planned to stop mainly for gas at Exit 3 in Kingsland, but something jogged a distant memory of wood-cooked barbecue in the area, and led me to do a quick Google search, which pulled up Malson's. It would have been easy to miss among the towering signposts and cookie-cutter convenience stores if the aroma of oak smoke hadn't blanketed the interchange as I slowed at the bottom of the exit ramp. I traced the smell to a shack the size of a backyard shed, next to the Exxon station. Red painted, life sized letters spelled out B-B-Q on the roof. A pleasant young lady took my order for a pork plate with potato salad and baked beans. In a few minutes I had a heavy black Styrofoam container in my hand and was headed for the road. I popped it open to find a massive pile of pulled pork with lots of chunks of black edges. As I picked up and ate chunks of the deliciously smoky meat, I found the source of the extra weight-rice. Rice? Yes, at least a pound of your ordinary, cooked white rice. I have to admit I've never seen barbeque served this way before. There was plenty of pork even without any filler, so I ended up leaving most of the rice. It would have worked well to tame some of the extra smoky outer bits of meat for someone who prefers less smoke. Eaten that way, this would have easily been a meal for two. The sauce was excellent as well. Though there wasn't much need for it, I did dip a few of the inside pieces of meat along with a little rice in it and found it to be a good combination. The beans were on par, and the potato salad a little more creamy than usual, but good nonetheless. This place is definitely worth stopping at if you are headed north or south on I-95. Just get off at exit 3 and follow your nose.

This outdoor BBQ hut is the PERFECT stop if you're driving up or down I-95. Please do not go to Wendy's or those other foul chains when you can have delicious fresh made BBQ that is as local as you can get. Support local business!!! Their BBQ is one of the BEST i've ever had. However, they are a bit kooky when it comes to their menu. I ordered a half chicken BBQ sandwich. They said that they only had quarters. So I ordered a quarter and was still hungry. Why couldn't they just add more pieces to the 1/4 to make it a half? My "sandwich" came as 2 whole pieces of chicken on rice and two pieces of white bread. I ordered a pork "sandwich" from the same section of the menu. That arrived as pulled pork on a bun. So it's a mystery as to how they relate their menu items to the descriptions. Who cares. Just eat, enjoy, get extra napkins.

Yes it is right off (% sandwiched between fast food joints but this is real food. Their meats are smoked on site and the flavor and consistency are right on the money. The smokey and tender pulled pork sandwich was amazing. My only complaint was the sauce which was a little sweet for my taste and detracted from, rather than enhanced, the pork's inherent deliciousness. The prices were amazing, only $3.50 for a good size sandwich is a great bargain. This joint is an oasis in the epicurean desert of Kingsland. Eat local, eat better!

Stopped here based on the hype of a great BBQ joint. The ambiance lives up to the reviews - menu is handwritten on a chalkboard, outside picnic tables right next to the gas station, and you can watch them smoking the meats as you dine. The food itself is average. The ribs were tender but not so much that they fell off the bones. The chicken had a bit of a mild kick and was served with a large portion of rice smothered in their sauce. The pulled pork sandwich was really good though, again, nothing spectacular. Coleslaw was probably the best thing we ate. The sauce is thin and vinegary with a mildly sweet side. I may come back again if I happened to be in the area but wouldn't seek it out.

Divey lil BBQ shack with the smoker about the same size as the joint. Best tasting traditional southern BBQ along 95 in GA. A good place to make a stop on a long road trip.

Wonderful dinner. Staff was very friendly. My first time going I had the brisket 2 different ways; in a plate and on a potato. Both decent. The slaw and cucumber salad was also fine. But the best part of the meal? SAUSAGE. Absolutely legit. I will definitely go back. Maybe to try the chicken. But I will be sure to order the sausage every time.

Thanks yelpers for the recommendation. Stopped here on the way to fl for lunch. This is barbecue as it should be:moist, tender, flavorful. The sauce is the perfect combination of savory, sweet and spicy. The coleslaw is also just right: crunchy and not too sweet. We got the pulled pork and brisket. Both were excellent, but we decided if we had to choose we liked the pork better. Might be the best I've ever had. Went back to the window and got a couple of pounds to go. Can't wait to share this stuff with family (or maybe not share? )

Not the best but you can not beat the price. I had the chicken sandwich, 1/4 chicken served over rice, dressed with BBQ sauce,a roll was served on the side. For $3.50, the meal was a bargain, but sadly I was not left wanting more.

I'm not a Connaisseur of Southern Cuisine and BBQ so I humbly say the fact: 1 big poboy sandwich with pulled pork, 4-5$ Pretty freaking cheap. The lady serving me was polite and nice and helpful. I was juste passing by and stoped for the Wendy accross and the smoked bbq scent made me crazy hungry for bbq. Seeing the price, I was like, no way i'm not getting bbq and ate my sandwich like a pig in 2-3 minutes. I'll be honnest, I didn't feel an once of guilt about that.

Delicious gas-station/BBQ shack stop-over in southern GA, just off the highway. The smoked hot wings are awesome, and the sauce delicious. Its seriously a little shack with an outdoor smoker, next to a Wendy's and a gas station. Better than both. If you need to stop in for some fuel, give it a try. I've had better barbecue (the joint) but not often, and its bizarre location bumps it up to a 5-star, unexpected surprise.

Southern BBQ as good as it gets! The food is super fresh, the sides are homemade, the meat is tender, and I LOVE the sauce. What a treat. I pulled off at exit 3 planning to curb my cravings with typical drive thru fare and this little gem was right there! It was honestly one of the tastiest meals on my road trip. I absolutely loved the combination of pulled pork on rice.

Driving from Mass to FLA and made a quick stop for gas and I spotted this place. Grabbed a $2 pork slider. OH MY GOSH it was good. I am definitely stopping there on all future trips. EXIT 3 GEORGIA JUST NORTH OF THE FLA BORDER!!!

We found this place by accident when we needed to gas up and wanted milk shakes at the DQ next door. The sign claiming "the best Pulled pork in the South" lured us in, the free pulled pork sample had us at Hello. We just ordered pulled pork sandwiches, but that was enough for me to give this place a solid thumbs up. Exit 3 off I-95 in the deep Deep South of Georgia. They know how to do BBQ here.

This place was down the street from the hotel I was staying at and it kept getting my attention because of how small the location was. I decided to Yelp it and read some good reviews. But it was a total disappointment! When I was ordering I noticed that the person taking the orders was also the person making the food. The food was lacking taste and by the time I started eating, my bread was all soggy and falling apart. The BBQ here isn't good! Sorry.

On the way to Savannah, we pulled off of I-95 for some gas and a quick bite. To my surprise, the best food at the exit was found at this literal shack. For right around $5, you can have some great tasting BBQ. There are a couple of picnic tables, and you can see the giant smoker off to the side. Do yourself a favor and give it a go!

Well, quite frankly I'm very much stumped! I read the reviews and very much looked forward to eating here. I'll start with the pulled pork plate. Why is there over cooked white rice under a bbq pulled pork plate? Is it so it looks like there's more meat than it really is or is that something they do down here? The potato salad didn't have much flavor. The beef plate was Extremely disappointing. OMG it was not brisket but roast beef. I grew up in the Midwest where they grow nothing but beef. But bbq roast beef? Terrible! There was rice with the beef too. The baked beans had pickling spice for the seasoning. All I can say it's interesting. We ordered bread but it wasn't included in the order. The only thing that I can say was ok was the cucumber and onions. I'm not sure who these people are who wrote the reviews but that was probably the worst food I've had in a long time.

I make good time. 6.5 hours from Charleston to Port St Lucie. I only stop for emergencies. Brisket sandwich emergencies. The sauce is a perfect concoction of tomato base with sweet spice (think coriander, fennel). The sauce is seriously addictive. I want to buy it by the gallon. Is it available? The brisket is tender, smokey and juicy. No chunks of fat or gristle. So good. The pulled pork is succulent too. In and out in 5 minutes. And they accept debit! Excellent service. I pity the fools waiting in line for the surrounding fast food restaurants chains.

Okay, the sausage is hands down the best we've EVER had. I personally highly recommend you get it "loaded" (which means coleslaw on it). The ribs were okay (not their strong spot - lots of better places locally for ribs). The pulled pork was another real winner, again I liked it "loaded". All and all, we'd skip the ribs but still highly recommend them for all the other yummies!

Yup. Big smoker. Big flavor. The reviews are correct. Dont eat the junk fast food next door, eat here instead. Only thing i didnt like was that when you pay with credit the machine guilt trips you into tipping the staff.

Outstanding pulled pork over rice, potato salad and baked beans. Loved the smoke flavor of the pork. I also bought a loaded (with slaw and BBQ sauce) sausage on a hot dog bun, and it was really good. This food was so good, it makes me want to sing..."I like pig butts & I can not lie....."

On our long drive to Florida, I saw the DQ logo on the exit sign and decided it was warm enough for a blizzard! When we were in the parking lot, the wonderful smell of BBQ wafted towards us, and we were entranced. We jumped back in the car and drove to Malson's Barbecue just 2 doors down. We both ended up ordering the pulled pork plate...rice, smoked pulled pork, smothered in awesome sauce! I have never tasted moister or more flavorful bbq pork. The $8.50 plate included 2 pieces of bread (to make a sandwich if you like) and 2 sides. I had sweet cucumbers and onions and a second side of potato salad - both very good! DH ordered coleslaw and DELICIOUS baked beans! Great prices, great food!

Good bbq in a super easy spot. I am learning that the BBQ shacks next to gas stations with on site smokers often have great bbq. The pulled brisket was a great alternative to the fast food next to interstate highways.

Best I-95 road trip stop ever. May be the best pulled pork sandwich I've ever had. Kid #1 loved the brisket. Kid #2 loved the 1/4 chicken, and husband loved the sausage sandwich. This never happens It is a rare, rare thing when our entire family is delighted with a meal. The BBQ-shack-in-a-gas-station-lot atmosphere was the perfect ambience. Husband and I went back for a second sandwich, and we still got out for under $30.

Want good BBQ. Stop here. Our go to lunch spot on the way to and from Florida. Just doesn't get better than this. And very reasonably priced. We sit outside at their picnic tables and relax with good BBQ as we get ready for the next leg of our trip. Pulled pork sandwich with slaw is our favorite. Haven't tried the ribs, but they look good. Will get the brisket next time we stop.

I decided to make a pit stop during a trip through GA and found this BBQ stand next to a row of fast food crap. The first thing that stood out were the stumps of oak scattered outside that were obviously being used to smoke the meats. I'm not a fan of using oak for smoking meats, but to each his own. I tried a sample of their smoke pork and immediately tasted the mustard base but couldn't taste any of the smokey flavor. The sample was really generous and enough for me to decide against ordering a bigger serving. This place has a lot of great reviews so maybe I came on an off day? Either way, I'd probably stop by here again - it's definitely better than fast food.

My hubby and I love BBQ. Any time we travel in places known for BBQ, we will visit at least one spot. We drove 1200 miles from Miami to New Jersey, okay my husband drove. LOL. We stayed in hotel near Malson's on the way up and unfortunately shop was closed. On the way back we stopped again. I am so glad! Great BBQ, fabulous and unique BBQ sauce. Try the baked beans. We were served by Dillon, owner's son. He and everybody who worked there were some the hardest working and nicest people I met. I hope they continue to thrive. My hubby and I love BBQ. This is special! Simply the best pulled pork and brisket anywhere. Fresh slaw and pickles too! Sauce has exactly the right tang...aak for a little heat too and you wont be disppointed. What a find and easy on off 95. Almost worth a day trip from Tampa just for the food!

Solid BBQ right off 95 near the FL line. Went with a small pork & small brisket sandwich for $3.50 each. Pork was good, brisket was amazing. Nice sauce too. I'll remember this place next time I pass thru.
