I am a city dweller that has found himself in Clayco (Clayton County for the uninitiated) more than I would like to be lately. The county is what Atlanta must have been like in the 70s...I'm not kidding! It is kind of surreal to be down there regularly. I keep thinking if I click my heels I can magically transport back to the Metro ATL I know and love. But, every time I do I just see 'Scarlett' jilted in the doorway of her swanky southern mansion (yeah...I know, wrong movie). Since my business brings me down here regularly, I have decided to make the best of it. And the best is unquestionably Flavors of Thailand. Add this to your list of favorite Thai restaurants. First time I went, I took notice of the many customers hugging, kissing and talking to the owner/chef as if they were long lost friends. I figured I must be in the right place if the food is good enough to kiss the chef. She did not disappoint. The food is flavorful and they offer a true "Thai Hot!" I also like the fact that you can subtitute any meat for tofu. My fav is the signature 'Flavors of Thailand' dish. So, there it is...Flavors of Thailand: Making Clayco a better place! And yes, if you are wondering, I kiss and hug the owner every time I go.

Ate here again last night and once again, the food does not disappoint. Always a consistently wonderful meal. I'm updating because I had the catfish, and talking with the owner she said that even though the menu has meat choices of beef, chicken or shrimp, you can also have catfish in everything. OMG! I love this place. Thank you for the great food.

The food is good and the prices are very reasonable. The people even give advice on how to warm up the left overs by placing a wet paper towel over the food when microwaving. If you want a 3 alarm fire in your mouth or want to clear out your sinuses get the thai hot dishes and the top of your head will start sweating.

Best green curry I have ever had; it is way better than curry in Thailand. I am not a huge fan of coconut soup or anything too much like basil or cilantro. I was a little wary of the thinness of the sauce, but I almost died in the curry. Plus, you get plenty of rice. Even though I was not a huge fan of mixed vegetables, cucumber, or bamboo shoots, I was practically drinking the curry. Go get some. I drive over an hour south and stumbled across the place. No lie, I looked out the window at my car a couple times, but this curry is awesome. The noodle dishes are alright, but the curries shine. Very savory and rich. Observant and courteous staff also. Most of the diners are regulars (some for even over ten years). Each dish is around $10 and if you have two people, two dishes are definitely enough.

Really good pho, if it wasn't in jonesboro we would eat there more often

Had the "Flavors of Thailand" entree with shrimp.. OMG it was so GREAT.. The staff is pretty rude tho. Would have given 5 stars, if not for that

This used to be the best Thai place around until they got new owners. I had the pad se lew with beef the last time I went. The noodles were dry and the beef was overcooked. I couldn't finish it - it was so awful. My friends all agreed that the quality of this restaurant went down and now they are riding on their predecessors coattails.

The best Sweet Sticky rice I've had in a long time. Their beef larb was great to. My pad Thai was kinda dry. But the experience as a whole was great. I would definitely recommend them to others.

Best Thia food in Clayton. Wonderful atmosphere and a very attentive wait staff. Food is always fresh. I highly recommend the pho, coconut chicken soup and cashew nut chicken.

From the outside does not look like much, maybe not the place you would stop when you drive by... I came here because a friend recomended the place. Inside is clean, placid and really comfy. We ordered the chicken coconut soup bowl... Out of this world! We shared three other plates (spicy pork, beef and sesame chicken). They were excelent. Service was good. Will definitively come back.

I came because of the reviews - and I wholeheartedly concur with everyone's opinion. Ate by myself on a weekday, early dinner. Had the coconut chicken soup - it was absolutely delicious, sweet and salty. Then I had the Flavors of Thailand stir-fry, which is lots of veggies and your choice of meat (I chose duck) in a red curry. The flavors were perfect! Bright and fresh, with none of that syrupy taste. The veggies were perfectly cooked, not soggy at all, and the duck was definitely duck and not overdone. The Thai tea was excellent as well. I'll be back! :)

Delicious! My fiance and I decided to try this place for the first time. We tried the basil spring rolls and the crab angels. I got mongolian beef and he tried the basil fried rice with chicken very very tasty thank you

So, I went back to Flavors of Thailand a couple of weeks ago and it wasn't as amazing as my first experience. We went during lunch and we were the only people there so the service was speedy, however, the food wasn't that great. I ordered the chicken Pho again which came with a salad and immediately noticed that it didn't look the same as the Pho I had my first visit, it was much darker in color and smelled stronger. I tasted it is and it was overly salty and heavily seasoned. I asked our waiter about the different types of chicken Pho they had and he told me that they switch the recipe up every so often. Bummer. My salad was simply a bed of iceberg lettuce with a delicious peanut dressing and some type of crunchy noodle that I pushed to the side.

Excellent food & service. I have had 5 dishes & each of them were delicious. The chicken coconut soup is life changing. I have been to Thailand several times & I had to ask if the cook was from Thailand bc of how good the food was. I was informed that all the staff are from Thailand. This place is legit.

This used to be the best Thai food around until it was sold. Now it's gone down hill. Thank goodness the old owner opened a new place on Tara Blvd. called Taste of Thailand, now we have quality Thai food in Jonesboro again!!

After moving from Los Angeles we have been longing some good Thai food. Most the restaurants in Jonesboro are subpar in comparison to LA, EXCEPT for this place. The prices are very reasonable (make sure you get to lunch before 3pm as they close) and the food is great sized portions. We can't wait to try other dishes!

I've already been to Flavors of Thailand a number of times since living in this area and I was surprised to discover that I haven't written a Yelp review for this place long ago!! Their egg drop soup (appetizer) has many ingredients, unlike the egg drop that is served at other restaurants. Nonetheless, it's still really, reallllly good! If you don't prefer egg drop soup, you can order up a bowl of coconut soup or a spring roll as the compliment to your order (but fair warning -- the spring roll seems more like an egg roll...) The spices used in their dishes aren't overbearing and they make the plates absolutely delicious!! If you enjoy a little spice, each table contains chili sauce and powder to heat up the temperature of your food (which I use plenty of!!), or you can simply order up your plate as is. Their menu is annotated with chili peppers to note which of their dishes are spicy. I ordered up the "Flavors of Thailand" plate, which is worth recommending to others if you're not comfortable with eating Thai food. The decor is of interesting Thai influence (as expected), and is colorful with many pictures, pillows, fabrics, etc....it's a great spot that looks like a hole in the wall from the outside, but it's totally worth the visit!

Great service and great food! The ingredients were fresh, the spice was perfect(they did exactly what I asked), and they were accommodating for me being vegan. I highly recommend the fresh rolls and the coconut soup.

My aunt drives from Zebulon just to eat here and has always raved about it. I live about 20 mins away so i decided to drop in today and try it out. I had the Cashew Chicken and it was phenomenal. The servers were super friendly & I had a great experience.

My BFF turned me on to this restaurant after several bad experiences at Thai Heaven. The portions are shareable (or enough for lunch the next day) and the food it excellent. The owner and staff are all very friendly. It is impossible not too love this place!

  • Tim B.

I have been here many times, each time was fantastic until yesterday. The papaya salad tasted old and different from other times, the sticky rice was undercooked (more like uncooked). The lady acted like she didn't know what I was talking about when I tried to show her the rice. Seem like a different group of people running the place now.

Pretty good Thai food. The staff is very pleasant. I come here occasionally on lunch and never leave disappointed. The atmosphere is a little different but overall pretty good. For the area, it's probably some of the best Thai food.

Tonight I was craving spicy and my man had a hankering for curry so we went to our favorite thai place. We were not disappointed. We started with the "tea rose" and it was super yummy! It was the first time my man had tried it and he loved it. Mmm. Just as i remember, it was a fluffy cloud of deliciousness all wrapped up in a yummy wrapper with the perfect dipping sauce to go with it. Then we ordered. My man got the red curry with pork and he cant stop eating it! It is spicy but not to spicy. I tried a piece and it was also yum. ;) I ordered my favorite dish; Salmon Pad Prik King, medium spice. It was so beautiful when it came out i almost didnt want to eat it. But it was so yumtastic i couldnt stop! Did i mention that i have been battling a cold for 3 weeks? This one dish cleared my cold up after the first bite! It is so good. We are taking home alot of delish food to eat for our midnight snacks. I cannot wait to come back here. So good.

Came here for lunch with a friend who keep bragging about this place. Finally gave in and wasn't disappointed at all! We ordered the spicy seafood soup and fried tilapia fish. It was tasty! the dish also includes some veggies which made it easier for me to eat because i'm a veggie person! Must warn you, if they ask what level of spicy do you want.. you better make sure you can handle the heat. I LOVE spicy food so I ordered the "THAI HOT" and it was burning! You can still taste the broth, which is good. The parking lot is a little dead since everyone else moved away. Seems like this restaurant been opened for a long time. Saw two elderly couple walked in and was greeted by the waitress by name- which tells me their regulars. We also ordered the sticky mango dessert. Just sweet sticky warm rice with sliced mangos on top. Delicious! Our total was about $27 without tips. && we got to take some food home.. say whatttt?? oh yes! I'll definitely be coming here back SOON ^_^

Flavors of Thailand is pretty awesome, and considering that my favorite dish is the "flavors of Thailand" with chicken, it's hard to not remember what you ordered. Still i'd also suggest the spicy vegetable special, and co-workers seem to love their Pad Thai. No complaints. Great staff, very friendly. The area is in a part of town where you may question the amount of 4 and 5 stars, but trust me, GO IN! You'll love it. FYI, if you liked Rama Thai off of Old Dixie Highway, it was a satellite of Flavors of Thailand, which is just as delicious as Rama, before they were closed down.

They will prepare your food exactly as you want it, even if you have special dietary restrictions. The Asian female server we had though had a bit of an attitude about having to write down all of our modifications. The owner came out after our food hit the table and asked us what we thought. She was more than polite. I just wished her server had been equally as friendly. The brown rice that is available is not good. It tastes like it was a microwave in a bag kind and it was kinda mushy. The interior is kind of dated and no frills. The wait staff is dressed very casually. They had a young woman working there bearing her tattoo and another one wearing a hooded sweatshirt. The temperature was very frigid on both occasions that I was there. They have take out and if you dine in feel free to dress VERY casually here. I don't see anyone dress up. I would return for the food but not in a hurry. I found a better spot in McDonough (Thai Time). I love it hands down (better food, better service, better atmosphere).

I really enjoy their food but my favorite thing was their Thai Iced Tea. It is the bomb.com ! I'd suggest anyone to order that drink!

Very good and huge selection of Thai and Vietnamese foods. This place gets busy during lunch hours but good for evening dining. The décor is Thai with many statues and green jade stuff. No frills and very tasty food.

Food was good, service bad. We stopped in after a full day of historic tours in Jonesboro to get a late lunch / snack before heading home. Another patron who was clearly a loyal fan... seated us and got us menus. The one person that was there to serve was clearly frazzled. We may have stopped in between shifts. I love Larb so ordered that and they did not disappoint. My friend got the panang curry and it was flavorful.

  • Ricky B.

This place is a solid 4.5 stars! This little restaurant is a bit off the beaten path in a strip mall, but everything from the food to the service is outstanding. The ladies here serving are very warm friendly and will offer good advice for those in need. What they are serving is equally as good. We were going to try another Thai place and ended up here anyway. Yeah its that good.

    (4)
  • Leonard L.

I only give it a one star because the other reviews seemed to be so inflated. Otherwise I'd give it a 2 or 3. Just your average Thai place here, nothing special. Ingredients were not very fresh, frozen vegs, bagged salad it seemed. Also everything tasted a bit watered down.

For bells to ring in your ears, please try the Thai Hot...but please be cautious if you aren't use to eating very very spicy! But its so good not to get it Thai Hot! :p I love their coconut soup, I usually get a noodle dish; all ordered to be thai hot. I have gone here for years and their food always stay great! But their thai tea is way too sweet, tastes like it should be dessert instead!

  • Blaire B.

Let me preface my review by stating that I will definitely be back to revise it in a non-lunch rush situation. I'm sure they deserve the five stars everyone else has been giving it based on food. I am a teacher in Clayton and the days the powers that be let us have an entire hour for lunch are extremely special because it means I can actually leave the building for something besides Chick-fil-A. A group of co-workers and I decided to try this out based on Yelp reviews and those of another coworker. Now, we did have a fairly large group, however we did call ahead. I guess they must have been understaffed or perhaps this was an unusually large lunch rush; I'm willing to give them the benefit of doubt here, but several people did not even receive their food before we had to leave. Some people in my party were, rightfully, very upset by this. I however, did receive the food I ordered, and it was fantastic. Red curry with beef. The curry was extremely flavorful and of a wonderful consistency. The spring roll that came before the meal was a-ok, but the sweet, tangy sauce it came with was wonderful. I will definitely be back to try this out again, but perhaps with a smaller group next time. Also, don't be intimidated by the sketchy strip mall location and store-front. It is really great food, and very nice and warmly decorated on the inside.

  • Paul H.

Would have given it three stars, as I only had appetizers, which were very good, but not off the charts amazing! But my colleagues each tried curry entrees and were thrilled with their food. (They would probably go five stars!) I had the soup with glass noodles, which I enjoyed. A little too heavy on the vegetables for my liking. Definitely nicer on the inside that it appears on the outside, and the wait staff was very welcoming and attentive.

For those of us who are vegetarian and live in Clayton county know that we got screwed with the restaurant scene in Jonesboro! Favors of Thai makes it all worth it living in this side of town!!!! Wonderful food and all the meat dishes can be substituted for tofu. The owner and the staff are really nice and friendly.

We live in Decatur and have plenty of great food choices, however... this is our favorite restaurant. We drive down to Jonesboro a couple of times a month to eat the best spring rolls and thai dishes. The area is sketchy, but the food is wonderful and very fresh.

  • LaShelle D.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, this place!!! I will admit from the outside it looks a bit sketchy, as it is not in the best area. This place was recommended to me by a Vietnamese friend who knows her authentic Thai cuisine, so I knew she would not steer me wrong. The strip mall where it's located is kinda run down and it's beside a ghetto fabulous flea market. All of my apprehensions about the appearances flew out the window the first time I dined here and the owner greeted me at the door with a genuine hug. She made me feel so welcome. The decor inside is quite tasteful and modern as well. A surprising contrast to the outside facade. This part of town has a questionable reputation, but Flavors of Thailand has a diverse clientele of diners from all nationalities and socio-economic backgrounds. A starving student will feel just as welcome as a business man or a group of "ladies that lunch". The mere fact that diners who don't reside or do business in the area flock from other parts of town just to eat here speaks volumes for the cuisine and service. Every dish I've ever had here has been divine. I love all the noodle dishes. I also enjoy the Thai wings and spring rolls. I normally order the combination of chicken, shrimp, beef, and pork , to get a sample of it all. The noodle dishes range from $8-10 during dinner hours and is well worth it. Portions are very generous and everything is fresh. Service is fairly quick, but they do prepare everything fresh, so don't expect "instant" fast food service. Order a bowl of coconut soup or salad and enjoy your dining companion while your main entree is prepared. The atmosphere is very romantic for a date night, but just as comfy and welcoming for a group of friends or families with children. Dishes are served family style in large platters which is good for sharing. Order several dishes for the table, and have everyone sample and share. I enjoy sitting on the cushioned benches with the pillows which are conducive to snuggling. There is also ample space for large groups if you need a big table. Just call ahead and have them make space for you. This is definitely MY Thai spot. It rivals any of the fancy overpriced Thai places downtown. You gotta try it!!!

  • Joe P.

Authentic home-style Thai food and friendly family-run service are the highlights here. I love Thai food, and have come to believe there's two "types" - restaurant-style, where cookbooks are followed and items taste of Sysco ingredients, and home-style, where everything starts from scratch. This is the latter. Consistantly delicious, and always friendly - and for the price, you won't find better.

  • Hung D.

My family is Vietnamese, but we love Thai food. Everywhere we go, I'd look for a Thai place to try. Over the years, we have probably tried over 100 Thai restaurants. Found this place via Yelp because we were in the south Atlanta area. We have friends in north Atlanta area (Suwanee-Duluth). Went here for lunch & have to agree with other Yelpers. Best Thai restaurant in Atlanta. To me this place serves authentic everyday Thai for the average Joe, not a place that serves elegant Americanized (non-authentic) Thai food for Royalty that charges you $$$$. Excellent flavors (taste), great portions, reasonable prices, and friendly service. These are the (4) criteria any restaurant should embrace. Well done Flavors of Thailand. We'll be back, even if it's 2.5 hrs. Don't let the outside appearance discourages you. Try it.

One night I was craving Thai food and a friend of mine suggested we try this place. I have to admit that I was a bit hesitant given its location but boy was I pleasantly surprised! First, they had one of my absolutely favorite soups on the menu (tom yum) and it was excellent. It had a rich, warm flavor and when ordered extra spicy, is perfect -- some of the best I have ever had. Second, their pad thai is incredible! Sometimes pad thai can be dry or bland but not theirs. The pad thai is most, the noodles cooked to perfection and the portion size is great for the price. Third, and this is strange but worthy of a mention, their sweet tea is hands down the best I have ever had at a restaurant. The sweet tea is served in a carafe so you can refill at your leisure. The taste is wonderfully sweet (just like my grandmother used to make) and not over or under brewed. The one dish I tried that I will NOT recommend to anyone is the pho. If you are a true pho aficionado I encourage you to pass on it when dining here. The brother was not right, it was more like a beef broth with random seasonings in it and the noodles were sticky and undercooked. In short, while I won't be ordering pho from here again, I will and have frequented Flavors of Thailand for the tom yum soup and pad thai. The price is just right, the portions are generous and the service is good. This has been a great local find!

One of the best secret locales on the southside! Authentic at home Thai at its best; I should know because my family originates from Southeast Asia (Laos). The owner truly invites you in with open arms literally. She's determine to ensure that you're well taken care of...my suggestion is to try the beef jerky, papaya salad, and sticky rice as an appetizer for your table. Any of their entrees is to die for, but I personally suggest ordering Pho; it's totally different from your normal Vietnamese Pho. If I recall I remember the owner suggesting to me to order the Duck Pho. Sounds delicious, yeah?! Be easy and stay fresh, peoples...
