I cannot understand the bad reviews for this place. The food is so good. I mean, the kind of good that you really don't expect in this area. I love the shrimp and grits, but I know people who live in Atlanta and eat the steak at Jacks when they are in the area. The food at Jacks is super fresh, prepared in house and always just really good. It isn't creative, but it is far beyond any bar food you will ever have. You can have a burger and chicken wings or you can have a center-cut filet. But, whatever you have, it will be good. Is it a little noisy? Yes, it is a bar, but if you don't like noise then either avoid bars or go there for lunch. Also, it is usually crowded, because it is so popular in the area. So, yeah, crowded places are noisy. Is the crowd "ruff"? No. Just no. My 68-year old mother goes there frequently with her retirement community friends. In fact, the biggest groups are probably Chateau Elan types and Village at Deaton Creek types. If anything it just feels like a place that attracts locals, but happens to have really good food. Are they giving out their competitors to-go boxes? Nope, again. Jack owns both Jacks and Jeffrey's down the street. So, yeah, the ability to purchase another location is the opposite of a business going down the drain. Hoschton is a food wasteland. There is nothing to eat out here. The reason why this place usually has a full parking lot is because it is the only restaurant worth visiting in the area, and, I think that the reason it doesn't have better reviews is probably because the people who go there all the time just don't think about writing a review. In the end, if you are in the area, and hungry (though probably not Hungary), I would stop here before I would stop anywhere else.

Our "go to" place when the kids are away! No where within 30-45 minutes can you find a good bar around here. Jack's has it all... The best servers/bartenders, lively atmosphere, awesome music (loud), and so many fabulous options on the menu you can't go wrong. There will more than likely be a wait if you come on a weekend night, but that's to be expected for such a gem - so,,,,,, get a beer and wait your turn!!

I've been here several times and each time the service quality goes down as well as the quality of the food. I gave them two stars instead of one because the beer is always cold. The first time I came here it was awesome but that was less than 3 months ago and in that short period of time it's declined this much? Today when I asked my server for a to go box to pack up the nachos I ordered without ground beef that came out covered in ground beef they gave me a Jeffrey's sports grill to go box. Nothing says your business is headed toward the toilet like giving your clients your competitions to go products. I personally will not be coming back unless I start reading some recent reviews that wow me!

Excellent! Just wish the restaurant was a bigger place! Sometimes we decide not to go because we know we will have to wait awhile, but It's always packed=good sign! The food really is yummy and the service is always excellent!

My go too spot in the area! GREAT FOOD!!! steaks, fresh fish!!!! Good burgers and hell everything else! I have has an occasion once or twice with service sub par but nothing to cry about. I love it and will continue to pay Jacks a weekly'ish visit.

It was not what we were expecting! The place is dark, scarey and "ruff". Only stayed because we were Hungary and the other couple we were with found it "interesting". We had cheeseburgers, fries and drinks, which were a nonevent,Go someplace classier and cleaner...like the Waffle House next door.

Sherri and Angie are best bartender at this bar. The cooks are very good in what they do and make what ever you like the way you want welcome to Jacks.

Had dinner here tonight. I ordered the ribs and my husband ordered the Cuban Sandwich but what he received was a Reuben Sandwich. Apparently the waitress misheard because of the noise from the ball game going on. No problem, he will eat the Reuben. The food was ok, not bad and not great, but overpriced for the quality. The one plus was that the portions were big. We were there early so our food came out pretty quickly. This place is best I think for someone who lives close by and just doesn't want to go very far. There is variety in the menu so one could try different things. For the quality of food and prices I will choose to spend my money elsewhere.

Was good food. I had the half rack ribs. I was check on twice but I did get a phone call that lasted a while and that could have been it. But that is why I gave it a three star.

Jack's offers something for everyone, The steaks and seafood dishes are a favorite with the locals who make this place super friendly.

I like the food a lot. Wedge salad, steaks, great specials,.... But this is a bar. It is loud. The smokers on the patio let in a lingering trail of cigarette stink. It smells like alcohol, too (because it's a bar). If you like to eat good food in a low rent hang out type watering hole, this is your place. Please don't think it is anything like an interesting gastro pub. If the door were placed at the table side it would be okay, but you have to elbow your way through the bar crowd to get near the tables. There isn't much close by that isn't greasy, covered in salt, chain restaurants, so it has much better victuals over all competitors.

A co worker and I escaped from the Chateau Elan for dinner so we did not have to endure another buffet. The waitress recommended Steaks. I had the rib eye and it was wonderful. I also had the cheese tots which made me feel like I was in college again. The poor waitress had a great attitude and was trying to serve about 10 tables at once. She was still doing a great job. The place fits like a well worn pair of blue jeans. Just what we needed.

The only thing I've had that I didn't like was the Philly Sandwich.

Never heard of this town and I had a mtg. to attend nearby. Went in on a Monday at 5:30pm and sat in dining area. Wait staff was polite and prompt. I asked for a recommendation of their best dishes (steak and chicken fingers was the reply). I had the chicken fingers dinner and was amazed. They were the best I've ever had and I travel a lot. The breading and seasoning was delicious, the steak fries were good, and the coleslaw was really fresh and tasty - very light, not heavy with mayonnaise. A very pleasant and laid-back place. Will return for those chicken fingers!

Incredible. I had loaded omelet w/ hash brown casserole. Wife and kids had chicken sandwich's and loved it. Don't skip this place because it looks like just a local bar. The food is great. We have been here a dozen times or so and have never been disappointed.

I love this place! I've never met a stranger here. Hang around the bar long enough and someone will talk to you. The food is good and you can buy $2 draft Bud, Bud Lite and Miller Lite. Service can be kinda' slow at times, but it's worth it.

good food, and good servers, food's a little pricey but it's not typical bar food much more upscale and tasty. But best of all they are open late and so is their kitchen, probably the only place other than fast food that you can eat at 1130 any night of the week.

After seeing Jack's parking lot packed all the time, I have determined that it must be so popular with the locals because there is nothing else to choose from and you get good service, if you are a local. I have tried numerous times to have a good experience at Jacks but it never works. Tried to enjoy the place as a bar, but have never received good bar service (even though you sit and watch other get drinks without even having to ask). Tried to go for food since I have heard good things about their fish. They were out of the fish that day and the ribs I ordered instead were so boiled they slopped right off the bone as I tried to pick them up and I had to eat them with a fork (cutting off lots of fat). I had a great omelet for brunch one Saturday but had horrible service while sitting at the bar. I had to get the local guy next to me to hail the staff to get any refills or even my check. I have learned that if you want to go there, you need to A.) go with a local; B.) sit in the table area (staff is better there); OR C.) sit outside and enjoy the music when the weather is good...patio service is also better than bar service.

Jack's is a great place to go if you you want to hang out with your friends and locals. They have great food! Service is kind of slow but worth it. The fish sandwich is awesome!!

I have never had a bad experience at Jacks. I moved here from Southern Caifornia and the culture shock was indescribable so I was pretty uncomfortable about going into the local watering hole for "local yokels". But this place was recommended by several neighbors as friendly and the food was good. The food is EXCELLENT especially the ribs, pork chops and oysters (only on Tuesdays). The waitresses are down to earth, will tell you what is good for that night and I feel so comfortable in this place. So THANKS JACK for making this such a homey environment (even for a SoCal kind of gal)!!
