Attended with other reviewer. Truly one of the most ridiculous dining moments I have had in a long time. 1st the food is borderline mediocre... Which should have been a sign to me when there is no wait seating in a friday. The waiter was kind but unable to answer questions such as how large is your medium margarita. His reply... I swear to god.. Was to cup his hands together. And no their "drink menu" did not answer the riddle either. He opted to bring an empty as an illustration aid. The menu basically offered a reg margarita and a Texas. I inquired on the cheapest top shelf margarita, herradura or patron, preferably fresh. Nixed on the fresh I opted for the mix with patron. After so so food and poor service I was delivered a 30 bill for a single margarita and a taco combo. when I asked the waiter he stated I paid. 10 bucks for the margarita and 8 for the shot. When questioned he stated the margarita is premixed and the shot is added. When I ask if he is telling me they mix cuervo and patron he replies I think so. I ask for the manager, apparently owner, and receive even more vague customer service. He stands by his pricing but is unable to tell me what I actually drank... FYI there was no cuervo in the glass .. And a single shot of patron silver. the manager showed no effort to rectify the situation.. Honestly he seemed to not care or be motivated by anything.. Even his own business. He ended my experience by grabbing our tickets and hastily lumping two checks already separated back together. As a note this is the first negative review I have ever made. I enjoy food and like to frequent restaurants that strive to keep me coming back... That is not jalapeno joes. the live band was excellent though...so at least they have that.

A-V-E-R-A-G-E Having been to some pretty darned good Mexican restaurants in Atlanta, this one pales in comparison. It's neither bad, nor stand-out -- simply average. My mom's 'please-make-the-steak-rare' fajitas, were overcooked and non-descript. My Mexican chicken soup had plenty of chicken and avocado, but lacked distinct flavor. My husband's combination dish was nothing more than okay. Ending on a positive note, the staff is very nice, prices are competitive and the frozen margaritas are potent and tasty. Perhaps this restaurant caters to its clientele, cause on a Saturday night, there were plenty of customers. Not my kind of place, but if you have no particular affinity to Mexican cuisine and you're in Hiram, you won't find this to be the worst restaurant you've ever gone to.

4:30 p.m. on a Friday evening, we are the only ones in the place. A young man seats us. The table is sticky so much that we do not want to put our arms on it. Before the waiter can ask us for our drink order, I ask him to get a wet rag and wipe the table down. He says," I'll take your drink order too". So he takes the drink order, stays gone about five minutes, comes back with drinks and no rag. Then asks if we are ready to order. The only thing this place has going for it is the cheese dip. Oh yeah, if you want a spicy Salsa, no luck here. They don't have such a thing. But they will ground and blend some fresh jalapeños and throw them into a bowl. So if your out for cheese dip and beer, in absolutely no hurry to get it and don't mind watching horror flix on the TV while listening to blues on the radio, all oddly happening inside a MEXICAN restaurant, then this place is for you!

Really nice Mexican food! Also there was an awesome duo playing jazz and blues. I ordered the Texas margarita and the Texas fajitas!! I would have given a 5 star rating, but, at checkout, the person at the counter left us waiting and the manager came and ask if everything was OK, but, his expression on his face was demonstrative as if he was wanted a confrontation. Also, the musicians take tips and I tipped the musicians on the final receipt. But, I did not see the manager take the money out of the register and put it in the tip jar for the musicians. But, the place is super nice and atmosphere and food is great.

I tried this place out twice,, and should have learned from the first time. The second time I had ordered our food it was almost twice as expensive than the first, without adding anything but one extra burrito. Our dinner was delivered, over priced and missing over half the items, I had called the store back, I was told that someone would get back with me, then just hung up on me. Waited for about ten minutes, no call. I called back and they told me someone would be out in a little bit with the rest of my order. I had even asked the driver "are you sure this is everything", his reply "yes". When you order 30-40$ worth of mexican food you expect it all to be there, with plenty of chips and salsa as well, not just 2 very small bags. I had gotten two large bags the first time I had ordered.. Overall just very inconsistent service and food. The food was great the first time, horrible the second time. I literally had to throw it all away, it was that disgusting.

I agree with some the other reviews that the food is mediocre. I ordered the enchiladas supremas. It was okay. My boyfriend had the paella, if that's what you want to call it. The margaritas were horrible. They made me sad. I'm not one to waste alcohol, but I couldn't even finish mine. I hate that I got a medium. Although it did have a sufficient amount of alcohol. The atmosphere is great! Loved the live band though. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice restaurant, but not for drinks or food if you don't care how it tastes.

This is one in a string of Mexican restaurants I have tried since moving to the area a few months ago. I was not impressed. The food is not good enough to justify the price and the service certainly doesn't help. When first walking in, we were told about a "special" that was the same price as on the regular menu. The food was ok at best and the service didn't make up for it. The food is overpriced and not nearly as good as I would expect. I simply won't visit this place again. I am contemplating driving a good distance for some good and reasonably priced Mexican food.

The food is good, but their attitude is atrocious. First, the food: if you're looking for good generic restaurant-style Mexican food with combination plates and the like, this is your place. I don't know where the other reviewers are coming from, but the tortilla chips are made fresh, as is the salsa and most other menu items. I've never had a problem with the food. Not outstanding but at least consistent. My issue is with their takeout/delivery. They used to offer hassle-free takeout and delivery, and were the only decent Mexican restaurant I knew of that would actually deliver. Their min. order of $25 is steep but I liked it so much I'd rack up $25 in stuff just so I could get it delivered. Now they don't offer the delivery service unless you use their online ordering which is BUGGY, TIME CONSUMING, AND DOESN'T MATCH UP WITH THEIR PAPER TAKEOUT MENU. If you want specific items you may not be able to find them on the online menu so you can place your order, and if you call them to correct the order they're no help and force you onto the online system. The online payment is also very shady. I love this place but their attitude with the online ordering deserves 1 star. Edit: I have to say that besides the delivery service this place does not matter to me at all, if I have to drive to pickup my Mexican takeout I might as well go someplace else. That and I'm posting this on Yelp because I think these fools need to be held accountable for their behavior somehow.

What a disgrace for a "Mexican" Restaurant! Are you serious? The food is pre-made, probably two or three hours before. The chips were store bought and old. The salsa too runny and sweet for my taste. I ordered fish tacos for $9.99. The fish looked disgusting, the tortillas were so soggy that I was unable to grab them. The rice was excessively dry (kind of toasted, maybe because they used a microwave to reheat it) and the beans were cold and dry too. So, ended up only eating the three small pieces of fish. My husband ordered churros for dessert and they were uncooked inside. The server offered to exchange it for a flan (vanilla custard) and it was also uncooked. AND it was $5 for a FLAN!!! Do not waste your money, do NOT waste your time, DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!

The food was great and fairly authentic. Patio was quaint, but playing classic rock during the lunch hour. I'm sure the rest of the menu is good too, but I can personally vouch for the mushroom quesadilla, the shrimp Acapulco salad, and the carne asada (steak) tacos. Recommended spot!

I was hesitant to go here based on review sand looks from the place driving by. But on a nice Sunday afternoon, my fiancé and I sat on the patio and shared a variety of dishes. The shrimp salad was very fresh with large shrimp and dark greens. We also got the mushroom quesadilla, which was huge with great seasoning and cheese. and finally steak tacos that were just enough. we also had margaritas that were fairly strong with good flavor, no sour mix. I was very surprised by this place and the great service and will go back for a night with music.

Jalapeño Joes is my favorite mexican restaurant. Their chips and salsa taste so crisp and fresh. They have the most amazing mango margarita ever! My favorite thing on the menu is the beef Fajitas. They are divine. The customer service here is amazing. Everyone is attentive and friendly. They have a hilarious testimony book about their infamous Alamo Brownie. Lol. On the weekends they have live entertainment and karaoke. You should visit this little gem and in the summer months get a seat on the patio by their creative little garden. Jalapeño Joes is a best kept secret in Hiram. Ask for Jesús as your server. ;-)

Food is just mediocre...not good and not bad. The food I'd give 3 stars. For the cleanliness of restaurant/restrooms I give 3 stars...not good, not bad. The service is always good and the owner (I assume he is the owner) always comes to speak with the customers and joke with them, so I give them 5 stars for that. Again, this isn't the best Mexican food, but it is one of the best in the area.

The food was horrible and service was no better. Ordered a top shelf margarita and the waiter poured a shot of Patron in a premixed margarita with Cuervo. I got the bill and it was $18 for the drink. Jalapeño Joe literally said "it is what it is". Really disappointing. The chips and salsa were not fresh and the tacos were so soggy I had to eat them with a fork.

We have eaten there many times, the service can be from very good to overly obtrusive sometimes. I like that they have an early bird special monday thru thursday due to the fact we usually dine out earlier than most. The only negative thing I can say about the place is that the manager/owner can be a bit over bearing when it comes to his specials, he always makes it a point to come by the table and try to sell there version of the "overly done and tired brownie ice cream dessert" Give it a rest, not everyone likes dessert every time they come in. We are fans of Jalepeno Joes and will be back.

I had lunch the other day and had a Huevos Rancheros. It was very good and I will go there again. Price was very reasonable and service was friendly and fast.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
