Nice restaurant, Good service and servers. Menu was not extensive but good.

In Hapeville...? Never expected to find such a gem. Delicious food & great service in a lovely atmosphere. Worth the visit. Second visit was even better! The staff remembered me and greeted me like family despite how overwhelmingly busy the place was. Food was just as good but because the place was packed I had to sit at the bar at the only seat available. This meant I got to meet some of the regulars. Their friendly conversation coupled with amazing food made my night. Honestly it made me want to move to Hapeville! Do yourself a favor & visit this place. Oh and save room for dessert - the pastry chef is fantastic.

I'm a visitor from South Florida - if this place was down where I lived, I know it would be a huge hit. Driving by to find a convenience store, I saw the staggered hanging light bulbs from the window; read "wine & bistro", then decided that's what I wanted for dinner. The restaurant itself isn't over-abundant in lighting. It's sexy, intimate, and super relaxing. The menu was very enticing, leading me to order several appetizers, an entrée, and a glass of red wine. Water arrives at the table in a glass bottle - again, a charming touch. The olives appetizer was incredible. My Caesar salad with shrimp was very light and delicious, delivering a huge portion of goodness on a decent sized plate. While reading Yelp reviews at the table, they mention the head chef was also the owner - directly to the right of me was the head chef sitting at a table, doing some paperwork on her laptop before the restaurant closed. This was a nice thing to see; she was out in the open, observing the patrons and making small talk with friends that happened to stop in for a glass of wine & to say hello. Truly, Volare was a great way to start my vacation in the Atlanta/Hapeville area. I'd definitely recommend giving them a chance if you happen to be around. You won't be disappointed.

I finally had a meal at Volare after driving by it too many times. I like this place. It's easy on the senses. And the food is outstanding. My meal started with some carrot soup. Just delicious. Seasoned just right. I wanted a second bowl. But... I'd heard the crab melt was a total crowd pleaser. And it is. This sandwich is served open faced--piled with crab and artichoke spread, topped with provolone and broiled. Just go have one, you'll see what I mean. And the salads were fresh. My friend who eats here regularly says they're always fresh. One friend had the tuna salad sandwich. He reports it lacked seasoning and the shallots/olives/capers that were supposed to be on the sandwich were somehow absent. (Or not noticeable, and either way, that's bad.) The wine selection is a signature thing here. They seem to great care in selecting what they serve. But it was lunch, and I did not get to test their knowledge on the matter. (America is somehow in the minority of countries that tends to look down on people who have an adult beverage with their lunch.) In short, I love this place. It is peaceful, even when it's busy. Volare is clearly an easy place just to sit back, grab a good meal, maybe a glass of wine, and just enjoy the experience. I'll happily go back. Holler if you're coming with.

At first, I was thrown off while finding this place since a passing train was blocking my view while blaring its horn. But it then stood like its own beacon as I pulled closer. This newly renovated restaurant offers an atmosphere that makes you feel like you are in the city and not by an airport. The place was pretty empty upon my arrival so the service was prompt and thorough. Ordered the shrimp po boy with the soup of the day, salmon chowder. It wasn't your ordinary po boy where they over fry the shrimp so all you taste is batter. This sandwich featured fresh grilled shrimp in a bed of greens and an aioli. The soup was hearty and warming. If you are in the ATL airport area - this is the place to go. It was very cozy and had a great vibe - and it wasn't just the old skool R&B playing in the background.

One of the finest dining experiences in Metro Atlanta...and in a relatively casual environment. The food is excellent, the ambiance delightful and tasteful and the staff, wonderful.

The good: The atmosphere was solid. It was very clean, simple, and comforting with a modern Euro-American vibe. One thing that made it stand out for me actually was the kitchen visibility. You actually got to see their process. It's nice to know what I'm eating is being treated with respect instead of being taken out of some dumpster. This little restaurant specializes in sandwiches at a fairly reasonable price at around $10 for a sandwich and soup. I shared the crab melt and steak sandwich with one of my coworkers. Good eats! All-in-all, the food was very fresh and the portions were good. Service was friendly and respectable. I also forgot to mention that this restaurant showcases a large wine collection and definitely makes a statement about it. The bad: The sandwiches can get a little difficult to eat based on what you're getting. For instance, the steak sandwich was awkward to eat because there were four chunks of meat in it, and it forces you to take big bites. The soup was also very unimpressive; it almost tasted canned. One of my co-workers also got a carrot cake at a ridiculous price of $8. Yuck. Finally it took about 20-30 minutes for our food and another 15 minutes for the bill. The verdict: Good food, decent price, and solid atmosphere, but the little things put me off. I would come back again for a solid lunch. I would give this place a 3.5/5

Amazing. Every dish was spot on. We had several small plates and a bottle of red. Flavors are intense (not overpowering), sophisticated, and well thought out. Garlic shrimp amazing, bruschetta smart, and lamb had familiar flavors I haven't tasted in years (from NY). Pleasant surprise. Ambiance nice and service great. Highly recommend.
(5)DC F.
This place is a gem from the starters to the dessert. Top Notch. It not the easiest to spot but worth it once you are there. From the comfortable seating to the welcoming atmosphere its a Great place. Do wish they had more than just beer and wine though.
(5)Nina T.
I had a pleasant lunch here after working from Drip coffee next door for the morning. This review is for the food, not the mildly rude and unpleasant waitress who was my server. It's a really simple formula to earn my affection and highest rating--serve good food and be polite. This place got half the equation right. I'll return and simply request not to sit in her section.
(3)Leah B.
Modern ambience, loved loved LOVED the stuffed salmon. incredible! Filet Oscar I should have ordered rare instead of medium rare because it was well done, however it still had great flavor. The caprese salad had good flavor but additional balsamic vinegar made it FANTASTIC! Good wine selection, good wait staff, highly recommend. I am giving it 5 stars because of the incredible food and flavors, owners may want to get new padding for chairs and vinegar dispensers.

Love this place!! Moderately priced with great food!!! A neighborhood hangout. We always run into someone we know!!! The owners Charlotte and Michael rock!!!

We went to Volare Bistro for lunch. It was full but thankfully we had made a booking. All 5 of us ended up having the special of Grilled chicken greens with raspberry dressing, goat cheese and walnuts. It was absolutely delicious. Chicken had such a good flavor. We had a dessert for the table of orange cheesecake which was good. Only problem was I thought I had broken a tooth as I felt something hard in my mouth, so I stopped eating it. It turned out that the cream on top is sprinkled with some form of hard sugar which as also white so we couldn't see it but felt it in our mouths. Tasty dessert but people need to be warned of this "sugar" or it should be a different color to the cream so that it is visible. Good meal. It is the second time we have been and we will be back.
(4)Jerry M.
The Lemon Rosemary Mushroom soup was amazing. Also had tuna salad on a mix of greens. Very fresh and healthy. Highly recommend this restaurant.
(5)Peter K.
New restaurant in the area that has a lot of upside. I was very impressed with things overall and feel like the owner pays attention to the details, which counts! I'd give it 4.5 stars, not quite enough to push me to 5 but I would absolutely come back here again. The Ambiance - Solid wood tables - Music in the background that doesn't get in the way of conversation - Bathrooms were very clean - Silverware and plates compliment the dishes really well The Food - I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich off the daily special menu. It's a long sandwich (6-9 inches long) and comes with two grilled half-slices of chicken breast with a special sauce, cheese, and two slices of bacon. Oh! And a couple pieces of lettuce. It tasted really good and while the chicken breast flavor came out a lot, it was a nice grilled flavor that I enjoyed! - The cream of broccoli soup was ordered around the table and it was among the best part of the meal. It was also on the daily special menu. It was creamy, but not overbearing. There weren't any strange chunks in it which I've had with other creamed soups before. The combination of those two things was more than enough and it was very affordable. They also have a very elaborate wine menu and the servers are more than willing to help with any questions you have.

Volare Bistro is a nice little dining place in Hapeville. When you walk in it oozes fine dining. They had good service and the server was very hospitable. All I ordered was a parmesan encrusted chicken salad. The portions were generous and the food quality was great. The lunch menu focuses more on sandwiches and some salads. The place is not bad.
(4)Chris N.
This review is about Volare's ability to host a private party. We had our office Christmas Party here and Volare shut down during the lunch hour to accommodate our group. Upon arrival they were very well prepared and the staff was very attentive as people arrived with drinks and pointing out where the appetizers could be found. We had a fixed menu but the filet was very good and having tried some of a co-workers salmon I could say the same. Dessert was equally impressive with the sample platter they brought each of us. The atmosphere is perfect for a group of 50-100. Even in a party atmosphere you can hear everybody at your table around you. Parking out back is somewhat limited but plenty of street parking nearby.
(5)Todd S.
Fantastic sandwiches, very attentive and courteous staff. Would love to come back for dinner next time I'm in town. Highly recommend the turkey sandwich and shrimp po boy.
(4)Michael I.
Flat iron steak and roasted beet salad were both delicious. Atmosphere was great for date night. Service was attentive yet not intrusive. Only minor complaint was that our to go boxes were brought to table before our entrees arrived, making us feel we were being rushed out of the restaurant - which I do not believe was the intended message. We would definitely come here again and would also recommend to friends.

Great food, great wine, really good service. Enjoyed the Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand and the Lebanese meatballs.

Stopped into the Volare Bistro one evening last week for a early bite. I arrived at 6pm and found only a few at the bar and two tables seated. I sat at the bar and ordered a glass of wine. The bar tender was very nice and gave me some suggestions and even a taster of the wine I selected to be sure I liked it. I liked the feel immediately as the restaurant has an inviting feel. The menu is not huge. None of the entrees excited me and were priced a little more that I wanted to spend. I selected the flat iron steak sandwich with chimichurri sauce, WITHOUT mayo. I was seated near the kitchen which is very open to the bar and heard her put the order in and tell the cook, no mayo. Sure enough it came back with mayo. Now, I said cook because he was dressed with a tee shirt on. Sorry, not professional for a place that has a nice look and feel to it. A chef should be properly attired. Once the sandwich came back the second time I enjoyed it. It was properly cooked to temp and tender. Bread was good as well. The sauce complimented the steak well. The salad that I ordered to accompany was nice and fresh. My problem was I could not find a dressing I liked. They had a vinegar and olive oil but I wished it had some balsamic. The other choice was a similar dressing with feta. I wish there were more dressing options, particularly a sweet option to pair with the steak. Volare is a nicely decorated restaurant and should be treated as such. I just wish they were more professional. Another example of what I think is not proper is that a gentleman came in with a Delta uniform on and most likely was a owner. He probably had just gotten off work. He brought out a ladder and started stocking the wine rack over the bar. This was very distracting. I could tell the bartender was uncomfortable. It was not like they were about to run out of wine! This should have been performed at another time when the restaurant was closed. Since the kitchen is so open the staff should be professional. Guests can see and hear what is going on. Perhaps the owners like being so laid back. I will return when nearby as the options in Hapeville are limited. Hope they step it up a little.

My first dining experience at Volare was hand down 5 stars. It still has the great ambience and friendly staff; however, the menu does not have the cheese and charcuterie plates.
(4)Jonathan B.
Hungry? In a hurry? Want something delicious? Then Volare is where you want to go. Stopped in a few weeks ago and had Chipotle Chicken sandwich and soup, was really good. Came back this past Thursday with some friends, we all had the special, Cajun Shrimp Sandwich and Salmon Chowder. Food was quick to arrive and was awesome. The grilled jalapeños on the sandwich gave it a nice kick. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely coming back for more.

Great restaurant in the downtown section of Hapeville. Building is renovated well and all the menu items are cooked with care and I can attest to the greatness of the crab melt. I would have to say this is the best restaurant in the Hapeville area, albeit a little expensive.
(5)Alicia L.
I won't go back to this place. My waitress made me feel rushed, got my order wrong and was running around frantically. The menu is limited and what I did order wasn't that good.
(2)Kristina G.
New to Hapeville, and so happy to have stumbled upon this place. Great food, and SUPERB service!! Wine selection is top notch, and I'm excited to go back and try more! I hear they have a brunch coming soon on Saturdays as well, so I'm REALLY excited about that!!!
(5)Bill N.
We met our two worldly friends flying in from New England at Volare for dinner and we couldn't have chosen a better place. The atmosphere, decor and food was incredible. We didn't want to leave. All four meals were raved about by each owner with tastes shared around the table. Dessert was incredible. I'm hoping more friends fly in at dinnertime.
(5)Kathy D.
Good food, good wine, good cheese, and excellent service. The atmosphere is amazing. Must visit. They fill up quickly so going a little early isn't a bad idea.

Tuesday night back in September '13. My review is a bit overdue, but still need to share my positive experience at this South Atlanta neighborhood gem. While traveling alone on business near the airport, I stumbled upon Volare. It may be that my expectations were low, but I found it to be a pleasant surprise...worthy of another visit. The staff I encountered were friendly, helpful and genuine. I had the filet, and when I requested a little bit more time under the fire, the server and chef were all over it. I reassured them the result was terrific, and it was. The salad and glass of chianti were fine. The prices may have been a bit high for the neighborhood, but I would say they were very reasonable for the quality and service received.. I will definitely be back.

I'm in Hapeville a lot. It's a neat place that has some hidden gems as far as restaurants go. When I heard about Volare opening on Central Ave. next to Drip, I wasn't excited. I couldn't figure out why a gourmet Italian restaurant would be opening in l'il ole Hapeville. Surely it wouldn't fit in with all the quirky, reasonably priced places already there... Volare is just what Hapeville needed. It's a gourmet Italian restaurant without any pretension. For lunch they have an excellent selection of sandwiches and small plates. And if you're trying to avoid gluten, you'll be happy to know you can get sandwiches on gluten free bread, as well crackers, and ALL of their desserts are gluten free. At dinner they have a rotating selection of specials that range from steaks to salmon as well as an extensive wine menu. My minor complaint is the service. Whenever I'm there they always seem to be rushed and understaffed, but otherwise very friendly. This is a great (gluten-free) restaurant on the South side. If you're near the airport, check them out!

This is an adorable bistro/wine bar in Hapeville. It is a perfect place to have a snack or a meal on your way to pick someone up a the airport. We wanted to try a lot of the small plates so we over-ordered. The server warned us that we were ordering too much food and she was right. Americans just haven't caught onto the European "tapas" concept. Several of the small plates at Volare would easily serve 4 people and are priced accordingly so our bill was a bit high. We would have preferred smaller portions and lower prices, but that being said, the food was very good. We tried the Firecracker Chicken, which was bits of chicken breast in a spicy white cream sauce served with slices of baguette. Excellent! Another dish we really liked was the beet salad with gorgonzola. This was the largest portion small plate. We brought half of it home. We also had the asparagus (delicious baby spears in a rather flavorless hollandaise sauce), sweet potatoes (cut like fries but baked rather than fried), the olive assortment, and the eggplant (a bit too chewy). Overall, we liked our meal, but we think it would be better suited for a party of four! :)
(4)Wayne K.
This place was simply amazing. The staff was inviting and super nice. The chef Charlotte was so nice and talented. The FOOD was full of flavor and delicious. The restaurant was very sophisticated and well design very modern and cozy. LOVE IT!
(5)Brooke T.
the food was wonderful, everyone was super nice. also the prices were great, and it seemed like they were a real family there.

It pains me to not be able to give Volare Bistro 4 or even 5 stars. I can't right now, but I really hope I'll be able to in a few weeks. In the mean time, I want to do my best to recognize the things they do well here. We need places like this on the south side and I hope they'll be successful. I'll start with first impressions and give Volare Bistro a resounding, "Well Done!" It's beautiful with some contemporary and rustic touches .. great lighting, nice little bar area, hardwoods and exposed brick .. very visually appealing and I could totally see myself enjoying after work drinks and dinner here. Our server, bless her heart, was friendly and adorable and tried very hard but it was clear that she knew little about the food she was serving, or food in general. But what really made for an odd experience was having another server come up to the table for reinforcement, sometimes after our server had left the table and sometimes while she was still there, repeating what she'd said. He'd ask if we had any questions, we'd say, "No", but would then spend an unreasonable amount of time explaining things and telling stories. It was just uncomfortable and weird, especially since my friend and I were trying to catch up. I hope the other servers have a little more experience and prowess because Volare puts out food that requires it. Before I tell you about the food, which was quite delicious, I want to talk about the menu. I'm not sure if Volare is trying to be a small plates place or a large plates kind of place. Their online menu suggests that the focus is on small plates but the meat & seafood portion of the online menu was not available the night of our visit, replaced by sandwiches. After being a bit confused by the menu and the description of the daily specials, we ended up making the choice to go with small plates and wine. We found the wine offerings sufficient, but a bit expensive. Our Velvet Devil Merlot and a Malbec (can't recall the vineyard) were $11 and $9 which is a little more than I'd like to spend. I'm hoping for a nice house offering for $7-8 a glass, but maybe I'm being optimistic. Finally, on to the food. Our Roasted Mixed Olives arrived with our wine and we placed our order of the Volare Signature Salad, Stuffed Mushrooms, Ceci alla Siciliana and some cheese and salumi. The flavor of the olives was delightful with a subtle orange flavor, but the olives were fairly mushy and of the same variety, not mixed. We enjoyed them with our wine as our server brought the rest of our small plates, which I highly recommend. The Volare Signature salad was light and bright with its mixed greens, mango, avacado and citrusy vinaigrette. The Stuffed Mushrooms were the least favorite for me, but still good with their creamy crab filling. But the highlight was definitely the Ceci alla Siciliana. Who knew garbanzos could be so delicious and interesting with these chili and vinegar layers? Our cheese and salumi plate consisted of flavorful mozzarella, coppa, prosciutto, grapes and crackers with a nice bonus of marinated veggies prepared in house by the chef. We'd eaten a lot of food, but nothing was heavy so we decided to split a dessert and ordered Mama's Lemon Bars. Excellent! We got 3 fingers of just slightly frozen lemony curd on top of a generous shortbread crust. The dessert was so delicious and refreshing and the perfect way to end our meal. As we were finishing, Chef Charlotte came out to speak with us and we congratulated her on her opening and the food she prepared. This review is long, but I really wanted to take the time to be specific. In my opinion, Volare is off to a decent start, but there are a some areas of weakness that can be easily overcome with a few adjustments, a little more focus and some training. Volare Bistro could be the gem of Atlanta's south side and I think it would be worth your while to have a meal there. One last thing ... I'm definitely looking forward to wine and small plates on the back deck this spring.
(3)Kate D.
I went here with my fiancé before catching a flight. As self-proclaimed "foodies" from the northeast we were very pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere, service, and food. Definitely worth the stop!
(5)M B.
My wife and I have really enjoyed eating here and bringing friends and family. The edge salad and the signature salad are both delicious - we also really enjoyed the stuffed mushrooms. There are several small bite plates on the menu that have all been really good. Great wine selection and wine recommendations - this place will be in our regular rotation.
(5)Michael S.
Meh.. I can't even say this place is mediocre. Most are 'plates'; great idea but the menu doesn't offer many choices. I think there were a total of only 5 choices; 3 hot and 2 or 3 cold. A couple of sandwiches and that's it. I had the filet; it was overcooked, dry and not really flavorful. I will say that the staff was very friendly and the chef (or maybe he was the owner) did come and check on us. This was a business lunch or I would have let him know my disappointment. I'm sure he will deduce this based on more than half my meal being left on my plate. Now, all this being said, I will give this place another chance. It's like the place down the street, Slideways. I went on their first day and it was horrible. I went back 5 days later and it was a completely different experience. I have been back several times since!
(2)Lee D.
We have experienced this wonderful new restaurant three times. We were there during the pre-opening on Friday night. It gave us a chance to sample several items from the menu and we were so happy with each item. The freshness of the ingredients is very obvious and there is a fairly varied selection of items to order depending on your appetite. We have returned for dinner the last two Saturday nights and have come away anticipating our next visit! Chef Charlotte has the expertise in the kitchen and a great personality to go along with it. She always takes time to speak to her customers and make them feel so welcome. We moved to Hapeville last October; we are so grateful to have such a treasure so close to our home. You must try this wonderful restaurant and experience what all of us who have written reviews have felt. The ambiance, the beautiful interior and the excellent music choices are just part of the charms. Volare Bistro, we are so glad you moved into our beautiful downtown Hapeville!!!!
(5)Fernando C.
Oh my...when I walked up I was a little skeptical but the wines were well priced. The food...Oh the good, delicious. My girlfriend and I ate everything and tip all-in was $120. Amazing. Coming here again. The Ciopinno; skirt steak; lamb koftka all delicious. And the salads were perfect and priced reasonably.

We went for Valentine's Day. It was so good and such a wonderful experience. We will be returning soon. Do yourself a favor and visit Hapeville, this restaurant, and some of the cute business near there. You won't be sorry!
(5)Sharon S.
If this is a 5 star restaurant, then I am terrified to eat out in Atlanta. Dijon Salmon drenched in mustard. Medium rare steak, well done. Potatoes uncooked. Out of many wines. Broom shoved up in a corner to keep a bird from nesting outside. This was gross. The services was decent but the workers kept wandering outside. I guess many people don't eat on the deck. The roasted olives were this highlight of the night.

The corner shop of short line of businesses that includes a fine coffee establishment and Growler (beer, wine, cider, etc) shop, Volare Bistro is a must-visit if you are in the Tri-Cities area. My first visit to Volare was shortly after they opened. About 20 of us from the surrounding neighborhoods came together to enjoy fabulous foods and a fine selection of wines and beers with dinner. I had the filet mignon appetizer, which was much larger than I expected for a mere $9 or so. There were about 8 thick medallions of filet mignon, cooked perfectly, drizzled with a rioja wine reduction, laid on a bed of leafy greens, and I believe sprinkled with a garnish of gorganzola cheese. It was the perfect combination of savory (beef and cheese) and sweet (rioja reduction). With dinner I had a fine glass of merlot for about $9.00. The lunch menu is a bargain and the two times I have visited for lunch they had a full restaurant, although enough seating to fit me, too! With the tri-fecta of Volare Bistro, The Drip Coffee Shop, and Beer Girl Growler shop, this little corner of Hapeville is an absolute must-visit destination for anyone on the South Side of Atlanta. You will be glad you did!
(5)Jason R.
Ah, a nearly local restaurant where we can eat. It's on the way to the domestic side of the airport for folks living to the north, too, so a good choice for exit meals. We were there for the actual opening, I had a bit of steak with a rioja reduction. The steak portion was appropriately sized (not a heap o' cheap) and perfectly cooked. Outside had some crisp char around nicely colored meat. The sauce was fruity without being overly sweet. The sauteed spinach was spot-on. We had too many appetizers to remember them all, but the stuffed mushroom caps were quite fun. This isn't the place for cheap eats but rather a moderate friendly get-together. The menu online may not be up-to-date; the chef / owner "gets bored easily" (her words) and goes after what's fresh. Folks familiar with the SF bay area will appreciate the cheese selection; lots of favorite there-locals. Fun if pricey local beers. I honestly don't know wine (even after living close to great wineries), so I can't comment there. Also, everything is gluten free except for the beer. The beer's bottled, so there is essentially no chance of cross-contamination. *All* the food is safe to eat. This includes dessert...

My Food was great and so was the service. I will definitely be returning
(5)Jennifer N.
Really good ...Went for lunch and I was pleased. Order the open faced crab sandwich. It is like crab dip spread over a toasted bun and topped with provolone cheese. The side salad was simple and dressed with a tasty vinaigrette. I was at work so I could not have any wine but based on the quality of the food the I expect the wine to be good as well. Try the place, you won't be disappointed!

Volare Bistro- A much needed addition to the Hapeville dining scene. Went here yesterday for lunch with a co-worker and was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was modern and clean, with a slight aviation/wine theme. The lunch menu was focused on a few sandwiches, salads and a short appetizer menu. Perfect! Unlike most restaurants in this area that try to have menus that are too long and complex, Volare Bistro understands to keep it simple. I split the Chicken Parm sandwich and the Shrimp Po-boy, which both come with an option of a soup or salad as a side. I choose the Volare salad ($2 upcharge) which was delicious, while my dining companion had the soup, which was horrible and tasted like it came out of a Campbell's can. Both sandwiches were delicious, the shrimp was very fresh and tasted like the ocean and dressed with arugula and a delicious aioli, while the chicken parm was simple, but tasty and filling. For dessert my companion got the carrot cake which was obscenely priced at $8, was tiny and tasted very average. For $5 you can go to Publix and get a much better cake that can feed 8 people. Service was very friendly, but a little ditzy and but could all be forgiven. Overall I will definitely come back here and wish there were more dining options like this near the airport.
(4)Jef H.
I have eaten lunch here a few times and the food is excellent. Its made from fresh ingredients and the portions as well as presentation is excellent. Highly recommended for a good fresh affordable meal in a swanky bistro setting.

We were stuck with an overnight layover at the airport and really didn't want to eat crappy hotel food. Found this place on Yelp and couldn't be more thrilled with the result. It was only 4 minutes from the Hilton Airport, service was great, and food delicious. Walked right in without a wait at 8:30 on a Saturday. It was clear the owner took a lot of pride in their food, which is always a good thing. Total bonus for me, the owner is gluten intolerant and fully understood how to deal with my Celiac-ness. In fact, most of their menu is gluten free (even a luscious-looking flourless chocolate cake) and they have Udi's for GF sandwiches. Just a side note, the ambiance is absolutely lovely but don't feel like you have to dress up... I forced myself to throw on a dress after our long flight but found myself wishing I was just in jeans and a tee.
(5)Katy N.
Volare is top notch. They did a fabulous job renovating a historical building in downtown Hapeville. The food selection is small but very thoughtful and great quality. The mussels are delicious, the crab melt is spectacular and the wines are amazing. Great spot if you find yourself waiting to pick someone up from the airport or looking for a quick bite near the airport. You won't be disappointed.

Nice restaurant, Good service and servers. Menu was not extensive but good.

I absolutely ADORE this place. Nice little bistro, excellent food options, generous portions, organic items, gluten free items. Love , Love , Love this place! Good for any occasion. I feel safe ordering anything off of this menu. WONDERFUL

Don't be put off by the hours listed on yelp. They ARE OPEN on Saturday for dinner. So glad I double checked the website. We stayed at the airport Hilton for a dance competition and were surprised and delighted to find this gem in Hapeville. The service was great, the food delicious, and the back porch a nice change from a hotel ballroom.

The Best of Hapeville! My wife and I were wonderfully surprised by the European wine selection and terrific food. The small plates were anything but.
(5)Hart P.
Our office rented the dining room for a Holiday Party. We had a great time and had excellent food. Knowing everyone wanted to try everything, the appetizers and desserts came with small portions for everyone. A treasure of a find in Hapeville.
(5)Michelle M.
Great little find with a lot of gluten-free options. Staff was friendly and the atmosphere was lovely.
(5)Norma J.
Disappointing...the Crab-Artichoke Dip was terrific...could not be better! The Salmon with brown sugar was terrible...asparagus spears were bitter and potato wedges tasted like they were old. The Caesar Salad with Chicken Breast was not good and ate only about a third of it! Dessert was white chocolate bread pudding...very good and ate most of it. All in all not what I had read online about the food. Cost was $91.00 for two persons....too much for what we got.
(2)Kathy B.
Great food wine and service. A neighborhood gem.

Passing thru Atlanta on our way to Puerto Vallarta, our hotel recommended Volare Bistro, and they were right on, it was excellent. Great service (thanks, Margi!), good food (the roasted mixed olives, the crab & artichoke stuffed mushrooms, the Lamb Kofte, a nice Spanish wine, a decadent chocolate bourbon flourless dessert with coffee... all were excellent). Highly recommended.
(4)David M.
I'm in town on business and stumbled across this little gem. The owners greeted us. While we were chatting we got on the subject of their flourless chocolate bourbon cake. Next thing I knew they'd cut up vegetables to dip in our appetizers to compliment the breads we'd already been provided. Dinner was delicious. Steak cooked medium rare just as I asked. Asparagus wasn't overly cooked or drenched in oil or sauce. And while they are more wine focused, I complimented m meal with a delicious local microbrew. Not inexpensive but reasonably priced for the level of quality and service. I'll be back.

If you're making a trip to the Atlanta airport on I-85, this is a restaurant for you! I am so excited to be reviewing yet another new restaurant in Hapeville's Historic Downtown district that's only walking distance from my house. Creator and Chef, Charlotte, has completely transformed a downtown space previously occupied by a dance studio into an exciting and trendy, yet cozy, wine bar and restaurant. Seating is available at tables along an unfinished brick wall that is part of the original early 1900s era building along with street-facing tables, an inside bar and a deck addition on the back of the building. The large filament light bulbs in the fixtures throughout the restaurant compliment the rest of the beautiful interior that's decorated with wine bottles galore. I absolutely LOVE the interior! There are usually several specials available, of which I have tried the 8 oz. Filet Rioja and the Garlic Shrimp. Both were out of this world! Steak was cooked wonderfully - just like I like it! Shrimp were nice and tender with tons of flavor. The roasted potatoes can be summed up in one word - awesome. Since the theme is Italian, there are numerous salads and sandwiches to choose from as well as appetizers and meats/cheeses. Desserts are TO DIE FOR. You can choose a combination of three different ones or a single. Gluten-free entrees and appetizers are also available. So for those of you that are 'OTP', on the 'north side' or simply visiting the ATL, this is truly worth coming a little early for if you're on your way to the airport. Just exit at the 'Sylvan Rd/North Central Ave' exit, turn left twice and go straight into downtown Hapeville. If you're picking up your honey at the airport after a long day and just want a glass of wine in a great location, take the exit after Virginia Ave on the same streets mentioned while going northbound - only difference is you go straight at the curve in the exit and only turn left once onto North Central Ave. Volare is directly across from the old train depot and the railroad pedestrian cross-over. You won't want to miss out on this place! Just look for the new hand-painted murals on the side of the building and the lights in windows. Parking is available on-street or in the City Hall parking lot in the back. Cheers! Hope to see you there!

This restaurant is a viable solution to the lack of good restaurants near the Atlanta airport. The owner (chef) prepares dishes in a novel, but very tasty way. Although the menu is small, the offerings are varied. Prices are fair, and excellent if you consider the quality of the ingredients. I really appreciate a chef that has pride in their work. I do hope the "locals" support Volare Bistro because I plan on eating here again when back in Atlanta.

This place just opened in downtown Hapeville, and it is fabulous. The food, atmosphere, decor, service - everything was wonderful. Wanted a light lunch, so I ordered one of the small plates ("Piatti Piccoli") of Ceci Alla Siciliana which was delicious, and their Salume Calabrese with flatbread and homemade veggie pickes (giardiniera). The owners were cooking and serving, and were very friendly and attentive. The food is naturally raised and made from scratch. Couldn't ask for better. Located on the corner just south of Chapman's Drugs, it can be spotted by the old grocery store sign painted onto the brick facade.

I have been going to the Volare Bistro rather frequently for over a year now, usually leaving pleased with a delicious meal that has been for the most part very consistent. I can't complain about the menu or the food but as a repeat and "frequent flyer" I have to finally comment on the customer service. I am a discerning consumer willing to pay top dollar for both good food and good service, yet not expecting perfection. I am not sure if the restaurant has grown beyond its capability but should a lunch rush affect the consumers experience or should we as customers be made aware in the course of trying to purchase a meal that the restaurant is "stressed out? I think not. Most restaurants consider it an advantage to have a lunch rush and are welcoming, especially to their repeats and loyals! Today is the first time I simply left and gave my business elsewhere. Don't know if you have been there, but a part of their kitchen is open and on many occasions this has amounted to a pleasant experience watching the food being prepared and having a few laughs with the chef. For me and my money, it's not just about food, it is the atmosphere, courtesy and sense of appreciation for my patronage that makes me want to return. Lately, however, the staff seems tense and today the chef on duty was just plain rude. I'm pretty reasonable and there is always a way to tell someone if you can't accommodate a request without being rude, particularly a very small request that had been granted in the past. I'd imagine a sign of a well-trained chef is to remain composed and focused under the pressures of a fast paced kitchen--Separates the experts from those who have more to learn. Maybe I don't need an expert to prepare lunch, but I don't take too well with someone visibly with a chip on their shoulder preparing food that I am paying for and have to eat. Regrettably, this is not the first incident like this over the past recent months. It's only the first time I decided not to overlook it and leave. I left quietly, yet embarrassed for her and sad that I was compelled to eat elsewhere. I have referred lots of people to Volare Bistro and taken many business clients there on days when they were trying to fill their seats. I hope the growth has not made them insensitive to the discerning and more loyal customer....Would be such a shame given their good food. People I know and refer there won't keep coming back just for the food. Just a heads up to Volare Bistro and to others who prefer the spend their hard earned wages where that is most recognized with consistency in the "total experience".

OMG, YUM. And for my gluten-free friends, WE CAN EAT HERE! Delicious, fresh food, adorable and friendly service, fantastic chef and owner, gorgeous decor. Unfortunately, I forgot to take notes the day we ate there so I don't have details, but I assure you each of us enjoyed our meals immensely. And the dessert flight? *SWOON*! I am so proud that this little piece of heaven is right here on the southside. If Volare is a sign of things to come, then I am thrilled about the future!
(5)Mark G.
We came with no expectations other than a decent place to eat that's close to the airport. Wow! They blew the doors off! The food was great, atmosphere comfortable and staff super friendly! Take advantage of this jewel in Atlanta!!
(5)sandra v.
This is an awesome new restaurant in Hapeville. The food is so fresh and natural. Steaks cooked exactly as you would like them. Service is great. Wine list is good, Hope this is a sign of good things to come for the southside.
(5)Ryan N.
This is an amazing little spot in an area that is really trying to have a great food scene. The ambiance of this place is fantastic and something that is truly unique for hapeville. The fixed menu is small meaning everything on it is very good. They always have a large board of specials that are very difficult to choose just one of. Service was great and attentive. I will be back time after time. Keep it up!
(5)cynthia f.
The problem with Volare is definitely the service. The food is well prepared in the European tradition of simply prepared fresh ingredients. They've got a lot of pretty young ladies working there who spend an inordinate amount of time hanging around the bar and the kitchen with their backs to the customers, not filling up the water glasses, not checking to see if you need anything, not offering another glass of wine or dessert. Our server did not bother to tell us about the dinner specials and after I happened to spy the specials on the board across the room, it completely changed my order. The service is immature, and I think management needs to be more authoritative and less friendly with these young ladies before they drive off any more customers during these crucial early days of this lovely restaurant. This was my second visit, and I want to give them one more try because I live in the neighborhood and it would be so nice to have a place like this to walk around the corner to, but the Willy's Cantina service just doesn't match the bistro prices. I don't know...

Small update to my previous review so I may add a review for their new Saturday Brunch. OMG - that was delicious. My friend and I had the Shrimp & Grits. Delicious - with a creamy spicy sauce over a fluffy grits and perfect shrimp offering with hash browns. The potatoes were more like fresh home fries of white and sweet potatoes. My hubby had a Crab Benedict that had a heap of fresh crab (and not one bit of shell). The fourth of our party had a mushroom and tellagio cheese omelet with a side of sausage - also great! We'll be back! They have special brunch drinks but their wine list is so good, and reasonably priced, that we just stuck to that. Only problem?? It was a beautiful day and we couldn't decide whether to sit on the back patio or inside the comfy restaurant??

Great Food. Friendly Staff. Worth trying if you are staying at on one of the hotels near ATL.

Thank you Jeremiah! I didn;t know where I was going, but I was sure happy that I got to Volare Bistro. My cousin brought me here and it truly was a great experience. I asked for and received some truly spectacular wine selections, oh and the food was superb too! I didn't know this area existed, but I'll be back - you should go!

What a wonderful surprise stumbling upon this restaurant. The food, wine selection and dessert were all incredible. To top it all off the atmosphere was perfect for a wine bistro- Edison bulb fixtures, a large wine rack and an awesome bar. Make sure you talk to the regulars and the owners, they're great people! Enjoy!
(5)Sunshine H.
I LOVE this place!! I visited so often...they knew my order. Crab melt with the soup of the day!! Awesomeness! I have been trying to recreate it at home, but can't quite get the flavors right. I have also have the blackened shrimp over a salad or blackened shrimp po'boy. I've only visited here for lunch so I cannot comment on their dinner menu. Wish I was still in the city...this place never disappoints.
(5)Amanda R.
3.5. I had the chicken marinara sandwich. While good, it begged for both cheese and a bit more sauce. The salad, however, was AWESOME purely because their nailed their homemade vinaigrette. Friends got the crab sandwich, which they raved about and the reason why I marked 4 stars instead of 3. I'll probably stop by again, and stick to a big salad.

Very nice spot. Stopped here for a meeting with some girlfriends and it was so cute. Quaint and intimate but with plenty of sunlight shining through. PERFECT spot for after dinner drinks! My food was light, yet filling. Hapeville is so rustic!

This was a fantastic find! I was inspired to try this restaurant due to a ScoutMob certificate, and the need to meet someone who was flying into Hartsfield. Wow, was I pleasantly surprised. I wish I hadn't been driving so I could have enjoyed more wine. They selection was superior! I would highly recommend this restaurant. The food was top-notch, and the waiter was incredibly attentive to our table and our needs. He proactively offered to accommodate any menu item to address gluten intolerance, vegan or vegetarian needs, etc. He made the ambiance that much more classy. I will definitely be back to Volare! It's easy to drive by, but note it's on the corner, and the parking is easy and free in the neighborhood.

(4)Jake R.
One of the finest dining experiences in Metro Atlanta...and in a relatively casual environment. The food is excellent, the ambiance delightful and tasteful and the staff, wonderful.
(5)Andy K.
I would give this place a 3.5/5
(3)David M.
(4)Tom C.
(4)Fernando C.

(3)Catherine A.
(4)Jon W.
(2)Jef H.

Great food wine and service. A neighborhood gem.

New to Hapeville, and so happy to have stumbled upon this place. Great food, and SUPERB service!! Wine selection is top notch, and I'm excited to go back and try more! I hear they have a brunch coming soon on Saturdays as well, so I'm REALLY excited about that!!!

The Lemon Rosemary Mushroom soup was amazing. Also had tuna salad on a mix of greens. Very fresh and healthy. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Our office rented the dining room for a Holiday Party. We had a great time and had excellent food. Knowing everyone wanted to try everything, the appetizers and desserts came with small portions for everyone. A treasure of a find in Hapeville.

Great little find with a lot of gluten-free options. Staff was friendly and the atmosphere was lovely.

We came with no expectations other than a decent place to eat that's close to the airport. Wow! They blew the doors off! The food was great, atmosphere comfortable and staff super friendly! Take advantage of this jewel in Atlanta!!

My Food was great and so was the service. I will definitely be returning

I went here with my fiancé before catching a flight. As self-proclaimed "foodies" from the northeast we were very pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere, service, and food. Definitely worth the stop!
