At first I was really excited about a place the makes their own gluten-free bread. Also, I was excited about the knowledgeable wait staff and the quality of the food. Alas, my wife got sick the last time we ate there. We were very clear that she has Celiac and that her food would need to be toasted/grilled in a clean and separate pan to minimize contamination, but she got sick immediately after eating lunch there. We had a great first experience with a Sunday brunch, but a Saturday lunch two weeks later really disappointed us. I recommend this place to everyone who doesn't have a food allergy, but they are hit-or-miss for those sensitive to gluten.

We ordered the BBQ Shrimp & Grits, Pasta Jambalaya, and Crab Cakes. All of them were "average" at best....

My friend and I stopped here for brunch on Sunday on our way up to the wineries, and we both really enjoyed the place. The bright, funky decor was immediately inviting. Everything on the menu and the specials sounded delicious. Mimosas were served with fresh squeezed orange juice. Our meals had a fresh, homemade taste, and the homemade breakfast sausage was a revelation. Table service was prompt & very friendly. The kitchen seemed a little slow (20-25 minutes), but as soon as we noticed it, the food arrived on cue. Maybe bringing the Muffin of the Day out ahead of the plates would break up the wait time better. Also, they seemed to be dealing with a fruit fly problem (inevitable when you work with fresh fruit), and we had some of the little pests around our table. They need to lay some traps. Minor annoyances aside - I recommend 2 Dog, and we both definitely would return again.

Words cannot describe how much I love this restaurant. Where could I even start, my partner and I are in love with the food, the ever changing menu, the staff (oh the staff! They are beloved by everyone in Gainesville), the owners, the location, their beliefs, their purchasing habits, and just their place in the community. Check them out, their Sunday brunch is to die for.

Should really be 4++ stars. Had Valentine's Day dinner with my sweetie at this fine establishment. Outstanding service, and very good food. You can definitely tell the owners and staff really care about their customers. So much better than a chain restaurant. The filet was cooked exactly as ordered and the fresh vegetables were great. Lots of menu choices with something for everybody. Will definitely go back and try other offerings.

(4) ~ very good food & service with a local feel. Yes, they do take credit cards and you pay at the cashier's desk up front. Parking is available both in the front & back of the restaurant.

2 Dogs brings the awesome!! Great service, phenomenal food and good beer list. The burgers and sides are outstanding perfectly cooked and extremely tasty. The sides here are to die for the cheese grits were fantastic and the grilled asparagus was very very good. A shout out to Peyton our server, she was great a perfect blend of fun and professional!!
Had a small celebration meal for 6 of us. We had not been there for about a year and after this last meal we will avoid the place at all costs. I had the Roulade, which the menu says comes with au jus. Mine came overcooked,as dry as a bone and very tasteless. My wife's daughter-in-law had the Grilled Skirt Steak, which was equally dry and tough. It almost looked like a piece of leather. I just do not understand how either of those plates was allowed to leave the kitchen, let alone put in front of a customer. Definitely a place to avoid if you cherish your taste buds.

Wow, what a little gem to find as you get off the highway. The food blew me away! Everything is home made and leaps and bounds better than common fare. A must try!

I've done lunch and dinner here and the food is always excellent. I've done the "3 sides plate" and a (if memory serves) spinach, feta(?) quesadilla with black beans. The jambalaya is good. The grilled asparagus is awesome. Overall the food is healthy and there are a number of vegetarian dishes as well. The menu changes frequently so you'll never get bored. They have a good wine selection as well. I've always had good service. The only thing they need is a bigger building!

Brunch this past Sunday, 3-24-13 was NOT a good experience. They have a limited number of 4 tops....wait was quoted at 30 minutes and it was almost an hour. Of course, that was no one's fault...we made the choice to wait. After we were seated, the dining room started clearing out and so did the service. We were waited on, but waited 10 minutes for our drinks. We waited for 15 minutes on our food, and when it arrived, it was not hot. The hollandaise was congealed on the benedicts. Also, the homemade English muffins were not toasted, which left them nothing but a mealy, soggy mess under the eggs. The grits were so cold, they held the shape of the ice cream scoop used to place them in the bowls. The butter would not melt. The quiche was obviously frozen. The crust was not done and the toppings were not mixed in...just laid on top. It was also the smallest piece of quiche I've seen for a main course. The mimosas were not "bubbly" either due to lack of champagne, or they had been sitting out too long. During our dining, a server came by our table 3 times with racks of glasses, which necessitated my niece DUCKING HER HEAD so as not to get hit. Very unprofessional. Of course, we could have let our dissatisfaction about the chill of the food if anyone had ever bothered to come to our table and ask us how everything was. They didn't. An expensive option for a cold brunch.

Had lunch at Two Dog, and decided to try just veggies....Well not just veggies, but I have the brown rice with beef and onions, fresh tomatoes with spinach, hand cut fries. Great, even on the simplest things. Fresh grown everything could not ask for anything better.

3 stars for the salad. Entree of pasta was 2 stars. Not much flavor. My sister had the Roma...she liked it. Nice restaurant location. Staff not overly friendly. Disappointed.

I think this restaurant was just having an off night when we decided to visit last night. My girlfriend and I are visiting her family in Gainesville, and since she and I are vegetarians the local options can be restricted. It was our turn to pick the place for dinner, and we decided on 2 Dog Restaurant because we thought it might be more familiar for her family and would provide us with some vegetarian options. This restaurant should get a 4 star review from me. I loved their decor, the staff was reasonably friendly even if our server seemed a little over-exhausted. I like that they use local ingredients and are indie. I even like the location. They even brought us a free appetizer when they heard it was our first time there! We decided to start off with sangria. The sangria was great, except for my girlfriend's. What had clearly happened was that they make a mix of wine, fruit, and possibly rum. They pour 4 ounces of this into a glass and then blast in some ginger ale using the bar's soda gun. Unfortunately, the bartender hit Coca-Cola instead of ginger ale on my girlfriend's. Our entire table tasted the sangria and agreed it was Coke. We asked for another drink, and the server and the bartender both were friendly but asserted that it was correct, despite her sangria being black and all other drinks being a pink to a dark merlot. The server said that they had just mixed a new batch. This was a little annoying, but I've worked in the restaurant industry forever. I get it. The appetizers we sampled, the gouda fritters and stuffed portobella mushroom, were truly excellent. Really, they were the only great part of the experience along with the decor and made me consider giving 2 Dog 3 stars. I ordered their nightly special, a squash and zucchini lasagna. My girlfriend ordered the 3-cheese lasagna, and our thinking was that we could mix them up if one were too cheesy or not up to the snuff of the other one. My girlfriend's father ordered a portabello and spinach quesadilla, his wife got a walnut incrusted tilapia, and my girlfriend's sister ordered the snapper, another daily special. As I ordered the lasagna, I explicitly asked, "Is this vegetarian?" Yes, the server said, of course, naturally. I also ordered the spinach and walnut salad, which I assumed would be vegetarian but to my surprise, I found myself eating bacon for the first time in 8 years. Normally I would have sent this back, but due to the situation (trying to maintain a good impression with my girlfriend's family, especially due to my strict dietary impositions on their dining experience) I traded salads with her sister and continued plodding along. My girlfriend, who is less insulted by meat, picked around her bacon and enjoyed her coke-tinted sangria. She eventually got a glass of sauv blanc, and we awaited our dinner awkwardly in good spirits, considering the prior events. While the appetizers were great, the entrees were just mediocre. My squash and zucchini lasagna had more cheese than my girlfriend's 3 cheese lasagna, and for the first time in our two year relationship, I didn't clean my plate. My girlfriend's father's quesadilla was too rich and over-salted, my girlfriend's sister's snapper was over-salted and her side of asparagus and spinach was a bit skimpy on the spinach but overloaded on the asparagus (I guess this is a positive thing?), and my girlfriend's step-mom's walnut "encrusted" tilapia was more of a moist walnut and tilapia scramble which she described as "not bad, but not what I was expecting." As I sit here at 6am, awake because I'm upset over the bacon incident and the ensuing drama and inner philosophical debate inspired by an uninspired server (wouldn't you think, "Oh, the salad has bacon...," after someone asks if their lasagna is vegetarian?!), worried that the restaurant I recommended turned out so average, at best, and that I was hoping to inspire respect in my girlfriend's parents since I was thinking about our future plans together *wink wink*, I'm not sure that I'll be back. I really like supporting local business, and hey, at least the pig I ate was "ethically" raised , and hey, at least they served my girlfriend a coke-based sangria and said we were all hallucinating, and all of our entrees were too salted...I don't know. I really think this restaurant may have just had a bad night and maybe I should have been more cautious assuming that my spinach and walnut salad with fresh goat cheese would have candied pear instead of bacon, but again, I don't know that I'll be back. Something to take away from this: just ask your server if everything you ordered is vegetarian if that's something that's important to you. As for 2 Dog, if you want to advertise that you're vegetarian friendly in what is otherwise a vegetarian food desert, maybe you should implement a "V" next to vegetarian items or have your servers *ask* if someone specifically orders vegetarian. Also, just replace a drink if it's unsatisfactory!

2 Dog is located in downtown Gainesville, Georgia. They are open for lunch from 11 to 3 and dinner is served from 5 to 10. 2 Dog offer a home town feel but has a very unique menu. 2 Dog open over 12 years ago with the concept that the fresher the food the better it is so the make all of their breads, deserts in house. They also offer up fresh poultry, beef and fish and all sausages and steaks a cut in house. One of my personal favorites was the Pan Seared New Zealand Lamb Chops served with a dijon cream sauce and your choice of 2 sides. Their sides chanhe daily but two of my favorites are the black beans soup and the Yellow Cheddar Mac'n Cheese. The Spinach & Walnut Salad is great and is served with spinach topped with bacon, bleu cheese, walnuts & raspberry vinaigrette.

Great restaurant with many options for lunch special. Always packed with locals. They grow their own herbs and the staff is always friendly. Expect a wait for lunch diners and beware they do close daily between lunch and dinner shifts. Their specials are hit & miss. Sometimes it's great. Other times you wonder what they were thinking when they came up with the idea for the specials.

Delicious lunch!! Tomato basil soup was fantastic, and the spinach quiche was wonderful, accented with just the right amount of artichoke. Very cute place with a nice feel about it. Desserts were a little expensive, but everything else was great quality for the price.

I went here for the first time this weekend. I was visiting from miami and looking for some place local, and unique to have lunch. I got on my yelp app and, seeing all the positive reviews, chose 2 Dog. Wow! This place did not disappoint! I had the French Pig sandwich which was delicious, and the white cheddar grits were amazing!! I know where I'll be having lunch the next time I'm in the area!

One of my absolute favorite restaurants in Gainesville. I go for lunch, with friends or to take clients. I usually have the black bean soup (a staple side item). I love the mushroom and red pepper sandwich with added roasted chicken. The rosa is excellent, as well as 'The Meal' is a great dish especially in the winter (brown rice, feta, black beans). Just a unique, local place that is always fresh and has a variety of sides everyday. The now servce brunch on Sundays - I can't wait to go! I have only been to dinner there once, and it was great - it was for Valentine's and it was a 5 course meal that was amazing. An absolute must if you are in Gainesville you should go by.

This is a really fun restaurant. Went with a big group and had a bunch of different appetizers and desserts. All were great. Chicken PIccata main course was great. Good wines, reasonable price, friendly service. It's not quiet place (wood floors are pretty but make for a noisy environment). As long as that fits your plans you will love it.

I love 2 Dog! It's a great local place with good food and great wine. I love the ability to "create my own" dish and the grits with alfredo sauce is amazing. Also, I highly recommend the Peanut Butter Pie for dessert.

I want to love this restaurant but food is hit or miss and service is more miss than hit. I appreciate the move toward serving local/in season food. I want to support this and many times the food is just yummy. Unlike another reviewer, I happen to love the peanut butter pie. But the black bean soup is an undressed mess and tastes like it was poured from a can and heated up. And the service (one server in particular) tends toward impersonable, slow and absent for refills on your tea or needing the check. More than once I've had to go up to the cashier and tell them what we had. And one time I was accused of trying not to pay for dessert when actually we were never given the dessert we ordered, got tired of waiting and went up to pay. I was then made to prove we didn't receive it and our server (the one mentioned above) couldn't remember if she had given it to us or not. If I wasn't so commited to support local businesses (especially restaurants that serve fresh/local produce) that one incident would keep me from ever returning and I would have given it zero stars.

This place is great. The prices are good, the food is better and the wine is the best! I love the local feel. My wife and i have eaten here about ten times. We haven't been disappointed once. Being a frugal person i try and buy a gift certificate at restaurant.com for a little savings. The menu changes throughout the seasons. The Peanut Butter Pie is to die for as well.

Oh how I wish this place were closer to Atlanta. If you're going to Gainesville for anything at all eat here. I love this place. I would be in there every weekend if it were in midtown. The food is always fresh, the staff is cool, the wines are excellent, the atmosphere is dressy laid back if there is such a thing. I ate every crumb on my plate and then managed to suck down an entire, made on the premises, dessert with a wine paired perfectly. So good.

So this is a cool place here in town in Gainesville. More places like this are needed! Great decor and atmosphere. Staff was very nice and attentive. Great local beer selection. The food was well prepared and very tasty. Portions could be larger for the money but the quality made up for it! If your looking for a nice meal and want to avoid the chains try this place out!

Great quaint restaurant with a diverse menu. We went for Sunday brunch and the fresh squeezed orange juice was delicious even at $5 a glass! They have lots of gluten free options and vegetarian choices as well. Our group had mixed reviews - my salmon Benedict was to die for. Our friends had a veggie burger and regular burger and ended up sending one of them back for something else. They were great about the return and worked to find him another choice. Would definitely go back.

I love this place. As I state in all my reviews I am on a gf/vegetarian diet. The food choices here for me were excellent. They offer gf bread with any of their sandwiches, have a variety of salads and sides, and the service is super friendly and personable. On my last visit I had the cheesehead sandwich and a side of cold potatoes with olive oil, salt and pepper. The sandwich comes open faced with melted feta and other cheeses on top. It is always cooked to the perfect consistency and I could probably eat one every day. The atmosphere is laid back with a nice patio. There are tons of choices on the menu. I can't wait to go back and try more.

What a nice surprise just off the square in downtown Gainesville! We came in around 9pm on a Saturday (which is quite late by Gainesville standards) in need of sustenance after a late night event. While initially a little concerned that the cloth napkins and tablecloths meant the prices would out of our budget, we found lots of reasonably priced items on the menu, which covers everything from southwestern (quesadillas) to Italian (pasta bowls). My dining companions were pleased to find that though 2 Dogs does not serve hard liquor, they offer PBR for $2.50/bottle. They started off with a round of those, as we noshed on the complimentary bread and olive oil. For my starter, I enjoyed a small roasted veggie salad, and I loved the still warm portobello mushrooms and roasted peppers, as well as the yummy pesto vinaigrette dressing. Because one of the best things about being a grown up is getting to eat dessert for dinner, I selected the homemade peanutbutter pie as my entree. Holy moly. In a world where desserts, even at nice restaurants, are often outsourced, finding a real, homemade dessert for just $5.50 was a treat, as was the pie itself. It was a giant piece with a thick, homemade graham cracker crust, loaded with a mousse-like peanutbutter and cream cheese filling, and topped with a layer of chocolate ganache. This dessert was a standout. Even better, the plate was garnished with loads of additional WARM chocolate ganache. I stole a few bites of my companion's chocolate chip cheesecake, and it was also delicious and not your typical dense cheesecake. Two weird things here though. First, their water glass here are lilliputian sized (maybe 5 oz glasses). Second, the bathroom is actually inside/through the kitchen. Those two weirdnesses aside, I will definitely be returning to 2 Dogs, for more than just dessert and cheap PBR.

AMAZING BURGER AND HOME FRIES! The homemade ketchup was awesome too. Brought my family here while visiting town, and we all loved it (and they are extremely picky eaters!) Would recommend it to anybody!

Delicious. Don't miss a chance to have a meal here when in Gainesville. We enjoyed lunch here. They have a medium size menu with excellent lunch selections. Pricing is great for the freshness and quality. The sides appear to rotate daily as they presented us with a printed list of hot and cold sides. The menu touts their in house made desserts although we were too stuffed to try one. I had two sides with a "hunk of bread". Creamed spinach - it is very fresh and delicious. The dish is made to order and looks like a spinach salad with a cream dressing. Not at all like the creamed spinach I've seen at other restaurants that looked more like a cream dip with spinach cooked in. It was amazing. I also had creamy fried chicken and rice. It was competent but a little dry and bland. My wife ordered the patty melt and had them add pimento cheese to the sandwich. It was the highlight. The burgers were fresh and cooked to order on a flat top grill. The grilled red onions and cheese made the sandwich flavorful and yummy. The pimento cheese really set this off though. Highly recommend adding it if you come by. Also served with a side of red pepper mustard sauce. It was tangy and delicious not hot. It was nice on the sandwich but not needed as it was amazing all by itself. Food=great. Service =great. Prices =great. Hats off to Jennifer our server. We will be talking about this meal for sure.

DO NOT GO IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN 2 PEOPLE. We waited for an hour before they bothered to sit us. During that time, at least 10 groups of individuals were sat before us. I DID make reservations which were not met. I called over to Outback, and we were seated immediately.

The food is so fresh! I'm so sorry it took me so long to try this place. Definitely the best lunch I've had in the area! The service is spectacular. I had the turkeys and avocado panini with pasta salad and Gouda fritters. All I can say is wow! The pesto/Italian dip with the fritters made me want a full plate of it and a bowl for later at home. Top notch ingredients. Even the bread and ketchup are made in house. My number one suggestion for those new in town is now 2 Dog!

Wish I would have taken a picture of how the place & food looks like but I didn't so I def have to try my best to describe the place through writing. I have been here quite a few times and every time I go I seemed to be so please with the service & food. The place is so cute and small, it def has a lot of character. I love the entire decor they have around the place. They too have a nice outdoor eating area. The place is off a busy road, so eating outside during lunch is not such a great idea. The food here is phenomenal! By far my favorite plate is Turkey Panini, it doesn't come with bacon but i always add that to it to give it an extra taste to it. I also always order their fries, which by the way they are the best I've ever had. They kinds have a pistacho taste to them. Last but not least their ranch..... OMG I am a ranch lover in general but this ranch is of the roofs! It's def a must try thing.

Stopped in for lunch on our way to Tallulah Gorge & were very impressed. Innovative, southern-inspired but progressive menu. I was sold on the sides when we walked in & saw the day's list (changes daily, based on what's in season, what's in the kitchen & the owner/chef's mood). Wow! We split the pork Mojo panini w a side of grilled asparagus, then a sides plate: potatoes & pickles, pasta w brisket & button mushrooms, grits w jalapeños & smoked chicken, followed by a peanut butter pie chaser. Heaven! The sides are absolutely original & inspired. If I lived closer, I'd swing by every day to see what's new :) you can't go wrong!

Take out lunch. I had the crabcake burger. with gouda fritters as a side. focaccia bread was fresh, perfect texture and flavor. Remolade sauce was spicy perfection. The crab cake was the perfect proportion of crab to egg and bread. Gouda fritters are wonderful. Even the sliced tomato was flavorful! Good job 2 dog. Enjoyed it!

Two friends and I found ourselves pretty hungry after an event around 9pm on a Saturday night. The first place we tried had a long wait so thanks to the guidance of our yelp apps, we ended up at 2 Dog Restaurant for a really pleasant meal. The decor is sweet. There is a lot of eclectic art on the walls of this house like space. The cloth napkins and table cloths also make this affordable restaurant a step up from most places with this price point. The bathroom's location is a little odd because you basically have to walk into the kitchen to get to it. The menu is full of options. They have pizza, pasta, salads, burgers, Mexican dishes and a few southern choices. I ordered a chicken avocado quesadilla which came with a side of rice and beans. The quesadilla was really tasty. The rice and beans were okay - they weren't especially flavorful. I would recommend substituting one of their tasty looking salads instead. My two dining companions ordered slices of pie. The bites I had were REALLY good. I would highly recommend indulging in a piece, especially for only $5 a slice. My only complaint is that the water glasses are really tiny and mine was constantly empty. Other than that, the service and meal were solid.

I first discovered 2 Dog about 15 or 16 years ago. The homemade bread, black bean soup & peanut butter pie are all amazing. Although I moved away several years ago, 2 Dog is a must every time I go home to visit!!

Ok, how did we arrive here? Since the rains took away our biking ventures we went to the North Georgia Outlet Mall. Getting severe munchieitis and not wanting chain food I took to Yelp to see what was on our way back and 2 Dog popped up. Hmm! 2 Dog........ looking at pictures it wasn't the typical Georgia Weenie and Que joint. Hmm! ...... Regular food, good reviews, and what the heck I have 2 dogs so it must be good! Upon arriving we were greeted and seated promptly. Reviewed the menu and there it is ,,,,,, a BLACK BEAN BURGER! I asked if it was a pre prepped brick full of sodium and chemicals and Nope it is house made. Actually, everything here is made in house all the way down to the ketchup! The ketchup reminded me of a cool tomato bisque, so good I felt like ordering a bowl of ketchup, oh yeah, that would be a little weird. So, in the essence of 2 Dog we ordered 2 Black Bean Burgers. My wife had a pasta salad side and me having the Mac and Cheese. From the Home made BBB on Home made BREAD, to Home made CONDIMENTS, to Home made PASTA SALAD, to Home made MAC AND CHEESE, to Fresh TEA, one could not ask for better! This place is local, it's fresh, it's pet friendly (outside patio), it's great. Bring a framed picture of your dogs for the DOG WALL and your all set. This is a try! This is a refer! This is our new place in Gainsville. Way to represent 2 DOG! WOOF! WOOF!

Had lunch at this place a couple of months ago...fabulous...very casual..love the wine cork wall! Had one of the best bacon cheeseburgers i have tasted in awhile, but the real treat was the black bean soup...wonderful! Service was excellent...very friendly....nice southern people. Price wasnt cheap but well worth what i had . Will definitely go back again. A great place for lunch so i suspect dinner will be just as good.

If you are a vegetarian, this place has most for you. Amazing lunch place as well as dinner options. The staff is very aware of the dietary needs of the customers. They have a consistently cooked meal every time. Their dressings are addictive. Artichoke rosa, the meal, Greek wrap, bean burger- you can't go wrong. They have amazing sides to choose from that always surprise and delight you. They use fresh local grown produce. Oh and their peanut butter pie is worth gold!

This place is super cute, always busy and has pretty good food! I consider myself a picky eater (and no one who knows me will deny that) but I've eaten here several times and found something on the menu I enjoyed. Staff was pleasant, my company each time has enjoyed the restaurant and experience and I will definitely go back!

Great service, unique atmosphere, and food made from fresh high quality ingredients. The word house made works its way down to the smallest items on the menu. Also they work to accommodate almost any dietary need. Will come here anytime I find myself in Gainesville.

Great historic house conversion. Lunch was pimento cheese burger (awesome), roasted pumpkin soup (great call on a cold day), and homemade pimento cheese sandwich (perfect w tasty bread) Looking forward to getting back for dinner. A definite destination when in Gainesville

We were passing through Gville on an icy day and wanted to stop somewhere good for lunch, so my wife checked yelp and said we should try 2dog. It turned out to be a great decision. A quaint small town-downtown lunchtime bustle/ambiance coupled with delicious food made for a nice combination. I had the Squealer pork sandwich with scalloped potatoes and Gouda fritters. I highly recommend you do the same. The staff was super friendly, even taking time to call someone on my wife's phone's favorites list to alert them after she left it in the ladies room. Luckily we were still at the table and recovered it with no problems. The only suggestion I have is the kids lunch menu items didn't come with sides. Had we realized that we would have ordered them some fries or something. Luckily my scalloped potatoes were big enough to share. Also, the kids peanut butter and honey sandwich had impressive presentation, but it was overkill for the 4 year old we ordered it for. :)

Cute hip casual restaurant, but despite good service, the food fell flat. I had the trio of sides with a huge piece of bread. The roasted beets were just okay, not the best I've had. The cucumber salad was also lacking. The grilled peaches were way too hard, and did not taste ripe at all. Disappointed, but maybe I'll try again next time I'm in town.

We were staying in Gainsville this past weekend and we saw that this restaurant allowed dogs on the patio and the reviews seemed good, so we thought we would give it a try. We went there around lunch time on Saturday and there wasn't too crowded. The staff was very friendly and they were very nice to our dog. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. I ordered a burger on white bread, my daughter ordered a burger on wheat, and my wife ordered a turkey sandwich. It took a long time for the food to come out. We probably waited at least 20 minutes. We weren't sure why it took so long since it wasn't too crowded. Once we got our food, I noticed that they put the white bun on my daughter's sandwich and the wheat bun on mine, so we had to switch that. The fries were just luke warm and soggy and the ketchup lacked flavor. The hamburger itself wasn't too bad. My wife's turkey sandwich on the other hand was horrible...here's why. First of all, there was only one and a half thin slices of turkey that smelled weird and was slimy. Then we tasted it...it tasted horrible and had a weird texture to it like it was old. We asked the waitress about it and she said that it wasn't there normal in house cooked turkey and that they bought it from a store because they ran out. First of all, they should have told us that when we ordered since it says on the menu that the turkey is cooked in house. The cashier later admitted that they should have not even have served the turkey sandwich. They did bring out a chicken salad sandwich for my wife immediately to replace the turkey sandwich which wasn't too bad. Overall, it just wasn't a good experience. I couldn't believe that they served a turkey sandwich like that. Hopefully they will not do that anymore. You must inform the customer if you are going to! I really hate writing bad reviews but I don't want it to happen to anyone else.

Great southern inspired food. I had the Chicken Pesto panini and my wife had The Squealer (BBQ sand). Both were very very good. First time here but we will be back for sure.

What a great find... Thank you Yelp and your followers for all the reviews. I stopped here while traveling for work. It was one of the best lunches that I've had in quite a while. The chicken pesto panini was delicious...and the list of sides they offered was outstanding. Various dishes that included a jambalaya type of rice, salads, some of the basics like fries and soup...I chose a meatball and noodle soup that was the perfect accompaniment to my sandwich. The chocolate cream pie was better than I expected. It was more like a chocolate chess pie, with a great crust and a generous topping of homemade whipped cream. Well done 2 Dogs! PS: the service couldn't have been better.

Had the chicken salad sandwich as a melt with Gouda fritters. Entire lunch was delicious and server was super sweet. Will definitely try them again!

Ok, so 3 stars at most for this place. I had 2 Dogs bookmarked for a while now but finally came. Friday night, 8:40 and a 25 min wait later... We were seated. The hostess was nice and very apologetic about the wait, we were 6 people and this restaurant is not the biggest and was pretty packed with tables of 2/4. We sat down and had a nice waitress as well but it took a bit for her to greet us, it seemed she and another employee were chatting with the table behind us, which is fine. My mom wanted to order a bottle of wine and it just so happened that they just opened the last bottle for someone else's table and were out... Idk why I felt they just wanted to leave since it was almost closing time? Idk, call me crazy... My mom was determined to have some wine and so she ordered a glass for me and a glass for herself.... I may not work in the restaurant biz BUT I would just assume that if you are serving someone wine, and the most expensive wine at that, that the wine glass would be squeaky clean... No lip stick mark or Weird foggy smudges....well that was not exactly the case .... As for the dinner menu, I really wanted to try and like this place but I started off on the wrong foot... I found it to be really overpriced :-( expensive like Antebellum but not that great! I stuck to a simple cheeseburger and we ordered Gouda fritters which were good but the mushroom was better..... I did like the restaurant atmosphere, it was decorated really cute. I love that you can bring a picture of your dog and they frame it... All and all it wasn't terrible, I just wouldn't be back for a while....

The food is ridiculously good here!! It's always fresh ingredients. They have vegan options for my daughter and cheeseburgers for my son. It costs me the same amount of money for my family as it does if I go to a franchise type restaurant, maybe even priced a little less than franchise places. I have eaten here 5-6 times and never been disappointed!!

ALWAYS great food, fun atmosphere. Not your typical frozen steak and potatoes meal. Nice wine selection. I like that the menu changes sometimes. They have specials and the peanut butter pie is amazing!

I love this place! My 9 year old daughter loves this place even though we've only been here twice. We went for lunch and brunch. All the food is made from scratch, in house daily. The daily specials are chosen using only the freshest ingredients available. For lunch, I ordered the pesto chicken panini and my daughter got the peanut butter and honey sandwich on 2 Dog bread. They were both amazing. I always get the grilled asparagus as one of my sides. If you can make it for brunch, definitely try the quiche of the day. The one I had was bacon and arugula, but not just any bacon. Big thick cut pieces of slab bacon. I've heard the Eggs Benedict are too die for. I don't think I could ever get tired of eating here, and I would eat there a lot more if I lived closer. Even the flaked salt is amazing. Seriously! You can check out the website to find out what the daily specials are that day, but you better get in soon because when it's gone it's gone.

Looking for someplace to eat after a day in the mountains. Yelp had pretty good reviews so we stopped. I got the flank steak. It was ok. Tasted more char than beef. My husband ordered a bacon and blue burger as close.to .rarw as possible. It came out closer to well done. Dry with huge chunks of blue cheese and cubed pork belly that didn't make eating the burger very easy. Not to mention the tough, dried out bun. We were not fans.

Decor was cute. House chips were good. Burgers were ok, Greek pasta, penne dried out, not much feta, swimming in tasteless oil

OK, I've been to this place enough to say with certainty that I've given them ample chance to shine. It hasn't happened. I thought with some time and effort (it's been a while since I visited) they might really pop up and impress me at some point, but I always come away scratching my head and wondering what just happened to my money and my taste buds. Start with the bread. Tough. Dry. Not just unimpressive, UNDERimpressive. OK, just bad. Vinegar dipping sauce will take your breath away, and not in a good way. Move on to the gouda fritters. Not horrid. Turned out "not horrid" was the highlight of the meal. Entree was the special - amberjack with a citrus cream sauce. Sides were grits and asparagus. Meh. Not interesting. Just. Not. Wine list wasn't dimestore, they generally have a half-decent selection - had one unoaked chard (but I wasn't impressed enough to note the name for posterity) and a pinot grigio which also wasn't bad but wasn't outstanding. Passed on dessert - always the same and never great (no, dude, not even that peanut butter pie you're so fond of, c'mon, really??) Bill was around 80 bucks for 2 people, 1 app, 1 entree & 2 glasses of wine each. I think 2 Dog is now officially a Dead Dog in my book. Sorry Loves. PS: best bet? patio is nice when the weather is good - go for a drink and an app to hold you over until you get to somewhere stellar, which won't be in Gainesvegas. Just sayin.

I had brunch here. I typically hate brunch; however, there brunch menu had a great variety of breakfast meals and sandwiches. Cute little home town spot that has a quiet and welcoming atmosphere. They make their own sauces here too, and I always love when restaurants do that. i feel like there is so much more flavor. And I was right! I ordered the crab cake burger with home fries and my friend had the pimento cheese burger with home fries. I didn't try hers, I don't like pimento cheese, but she loved it! The crap cake burger was really delicious. There was a beautiful, crispy sear on the crab cake, which gave a nice texture to each bite. The bun was fresh..seemed to be ciabatta and homemade, but I didn't confirm. My burger was served with a delicious remoulade that added a little tangy spice to each bite. I ended up scooping on more remoulade three times! lol I couldn't resist. On to the home fries: there were really just basic. I won't be ordering these again. Honestly, I would've been completely full and content with just the burger, but a side was included in the price of $9.50. I enjoyed the homemade ketchup with my home fries, but my friend thought it was too similar to a marinara. Overall, great little local spot with a great variety of food. Ready to go back for lunch or dinner!

My husband and I really enjoyed our evening at this restaurant. The menu is extensive and it changes with the seasons to offer fresh produce. The gouda fritters were excellent, and I had the peanut butter pie for desert. My husband had the fried chicken with gravy, and I had the chicken picatta. Both were delicious, even though the chicken picatta had a strong lemon taste. It was crowded when we walked in at 6:30 pm on a cold Thursday evening, so that is always a good sign of things to come!

I took my 8-year-old daughter here for lunch today. She was excited to be eating in a "fancy restaurant". We arrived at noon and ate outside. The waitress was very quick to get our drink orders. Took a while before we ordered the meal, but we did walk in at the same time as 2 other tables so I expected a little wait. It would have been VERY helpful if the waitress had explained that the kids meals (which are on the menu) are not very kid friendly. I ordered chicken tenders for my daughter & expected the normal fried tenders. What we got were three very small pieces of chicken that were dripping in what appeared to be something similar to Italian dressing; they were also slightly blackened. I requested ketchup & received what appeared to be marinara sauce. It was actually homemade ketchup & was terrible. 2 Dog does not have traditional ketchup (a staple for kid's meals). Therefore, my daughter did not eat the chicken. And, the price for these anorexic tenders was over $4 and did not include a drink or a side. I ordered the chicken panini with some type of cheese pasta for the side. My daughter was a good sport and tried eating the pasta, although she did not like it either. (I had to take her to Chic-Fil-A after we left!) As for my Panini, it had a good flavor, but it was small and contained very little chicken. It was mostly pesto. Needless to say, I am currently suffering from major indigestion! The waitress checked on us once and did not come back until she brought the check. She never refilled our drinks. Then I go to pay the bill. The cashier asked how was lunch & said it was fair. She did not ask any probing questions, apologize or ask if I wanted to see the manager. She seemed to be programmed to ask the question but tuned out the response. I'm not sure if this was just a bad day or if this is typical. I know 2 Dog has been in business for a while, so I assume this was just an off day (which is why I scored a 2 instead of a 1). In hindsight, I wish I had gone to Chic-Fil-A from the start! My advice to 2 Dog is to either remove the kids' menu or tweak it so that it is actually kid friendly food. Remember that kids do not have sophisticated palates and are generally very sensitive to spices. In addition, kids often will not even try something if it doesn't "look normal". French fries, chips or fresh fruit (oranges, apples, grapes, strawberries) are good sides for kids. Conclusion: I will never come back with my kids. I seriously doubt I will come back with just my husband.

Fantastic to say the least. Had the bacon and Turkey panini with avacado and the crab cakes. The best crab cakes my wife ever had. The panini was awesome. We both had home fries with made from scratch ketchup! The menu had so much to offer! Great place for vegetarians too! Service was quick and very friendly! We were there during lunch rush so the place was busy. Zero complaints. Would recommend to everyone in the Gainesville area.

Mehhh....my husband and I were starving and found the portions here didn't quite match the price. I paid almost $10 for "the meal" which came with rice, beans, and a tsp of ranchero sauce? My husband's fresh ground burger was good enough but sides were terribly small. Service was friendly but inattentive and slow. Sad....the first place I've tried in Gainesville.

As with most of my reviews, they are in regards to the restaurant's claims of having a gluten free menu. Two Dog has failed us miserably in that claim. My wife loves the unique menu atTwo Dog and has eaten lunch there probably 20 times in the past year. Yesterday was the third and final time she has been contaminated with gluten at that restaurant. The staff knows her very well and knows that gluten free is not a lifestyle choice or a diet fad for her, it is mandatory because she has Celiac's disease. The first two times she was contaminated the waitress made excuses about the kitchen not being careful and suggested that my wife come closer to 11am when they first open to avoid less possibility of being contaminated. That statement alone should've been enough to keep her from going back. When a restaurant claims to be gluten free or offer gluten-free menu items, then it doesn't matter at what time of the day you choose to eat there, you should feel comfortable that it is going to be gluten-free. So yesterday, she went at 11am when they first opened for lunch and ordered her food. Again, they know she has Celiac disease and has horrible reactions to the smallest amounts of gluten. Due to someone's negligence she was contaminated and began feeling the effects within an hour of eating there. I'm giving Two Dog two stars because she does love the unique food otherwise there would be no stars for being reckless in reference to gluten-free menu items. I'm not sure if they totally understand the severity of contamination for someone with celiac's disease. It would be my suggestion that they become educated on this issue and educate their staff as well. Otherwise they should just remove the gluten-free menu items. Three contaminations out of about 20 visits to the restaurant is unacceptable. Really, one contamination when you're claiming gluten-free is not acceptable. There will be no Two Dog in our future.

In a seinfeldesque way, this restaurant takes but does not actually hold reservations. Granted we were 12 minutes late, but after I clearly told the woman that took my reservations I had a VIP from Europe and his family with me, the courtesy of a phone call would have been expected prior to them giving away our table and making us wait indefinitely. After 30 minutes we went to Cosa Nostra, which is much more friendly and hospitable. I do not recommend ever reserving a table because apparently they have no idea what it means.

Sunday brunch - mediocre. Not bad but not worth a drive. Girls-day-out portions. Arrive at least an hour before closing time or choose from a dwindling menu. Who runs out of bacon??

Good food. Fair price. Mediocre service. Today's' experience with being "out" of sangria, then seeing it served to multiple tables was annoying. Also, the restaurant overloaded the waitress with difficult outside tables, yet the inside restaurant was essentially empty.

Nice drive up to Gainesville. Beautiful weather. The restaurant was nice. Staff, very nice. Good food and drinks but way overpriced for Gainesville. $9 burger... seriously? in Gainesville? Guess for our next get-away daytrip we'll need to venture a little further into the "sticks" to get "normal" pricing rather than upscale Atlanta pricing.

This restaurant is great! The service is the great, the atmosphere is great, and the food is also amazing. I had the Angel Hair chicken alfredo and it was extremely delicious. The cheese was so perfect and the pasta was the perfect...mushiness? Great restaurant and great people. I highly recommend a visit to this local restaurant!

My wife and I ate there for a date and really enjoyed it very much. I had the smoked pork and it was delicious served with grilled asparagus and rice. We will definitely be going back because there are so many more things we want to try. The place has a nice quiet ambiance and was a nice choice for a simple date.

This restaurant was a MAJOR disappointment! We ordered the quail and the Louisiana shrimp both were WAY overpriced ($16) and under-flavored. My quail tasted like chicken and my bf's shrimp was the size of a soup cup. Service wasn't great either. I do NOT recommend this place at all. Drive down to the Church's Chicken and get consistently good food.

Went to this place while on business in Gainesville, the service was friendly, the restaurant was cozy, but the food was very "meh". I had the chicken quesadilla with avocado. Most of it was just cheese except for the very center, where the BAKED chicken sat. Nothing against baked chicken elsewhere, but quesadillas, IMO call for grilled as the baked chicken in its juice makes the whole thing a soupy, bland affair. My co-worker got a burger which was fine but very dry, and bland as well. In fact, if I could pick an adjective that best described 2-Dog Restairant, it would be bland. In spite of all this, i give it 3 stars for the service and benefit of the doubt that there are better items on the menu.

Absolutely wonderful brunch spot! No wait on a Sunday at 10:30! Everything we ate here was delicious - frittata, eggs Benedict florentine and of course FRENCH TOAST. All of the sides were good too. Service was friendly. I would definitely go back here.

The ambiance is great and the menu impressive with the every changing fresh items. But if you are a table of one and you're not drinking ice tea you may become invisible. I arrived early to avoid the crowds and knew what I wanted to order by the time the waitress made her first table appearance. The food arrived and then I was forgotten. The Tomato Chicken Grits soup (warm not hot) was very nice. The Turkey Bacon Avocado Panini sounded great but was average. It was dry and the bacon had little flavor. How do you mess up bacon? The restaurant is famous for it's Peanut Butter Pie, hearing the server ask all the tables around me it they had saved room of the specialty. I eat half my panini with the intention of getting the pie. The server made two trips through the dinning area where I was seated, refilling tea. This is Georgia so there's a lot of tea. But since I wasn't drinking tea I was ignored. I was trying to catch her eye a couple of times as she scanned the tea glasses. I decided to finish my panini. When she finally got to my table to clear my empty plate, I mentioned that I'd hope to have a slice of pie but couldn't get her attention. She gave no apology merely cleared my plate and quickly brought a check which I had to wait in line at a register to pay. The cashier must have been physic as she didn't ask me how things were. The server's lack of attention on a table of one resulted in a lost sale, a lost tip and a lost customer. UPDATE 10/29/2012: Good customer service goes beyond any one experience. It also starts from the top down. Two days after posting my review on Yelp, the owners of the restaurant sent a personal message with an apology and a promise to address the situation. All too many restaurants would simply brush off a negative review as some "jerk on the web." The fact that the owners sent a note with their contact information tells me that they are committed to their customers and to providing excellent customer service. Their quick response to a unpleasant event has won back a customer. My opinion of Yelp has also gone up a notch.

It's very hard to find good quality food these days and this place has a lot to offer if you are into some good eclectic dishes. The restaurant has a very funky and cool vibe to it. All the servers always have smiles on their faces. They have an excellent beer and wine selection for you to choose from. My friends and I always get the Gouda Fritters which are to die for! They have a lot of food to choose from but I always have to save room for their Peanut Butter Pie, which tastes best when flipped over. This place is has some really awesome food! Wish there was more around like it!

OK, it's a nice place for a quiet lunch, but the prices are a bit high for small portions of snobby little dishes. However, in their defence, the food the serve is very tasty. So, in summary: nice atmosphere, good food, small portions, high prices.

Having to leave the Atlanta area for an appointment in Gainesville, GA excited me because I researched the restaurant scene in this small, but food filled town. The downtown area is packed with eateries but I narrowed it down to one- 2 Dog Restaurant. It's commitment to serving locally farmed ingredients and an ever changing menu intrigued me as did a number of reviews I read ahead of time. We arrived in the midst of the lunch rush, but that didn't set back the staff of veterans. Immediately after being seated, I directed my attention to the menu- and more specifically the daily specials. Bam! First one of the list is a winner- Chicken Caesar Flatbread served with a side. The list of daily sides was so extravagant, separated into hot and cold categories. My conscious directed me towards a lighter option- black bean soup, but my gut really wanted to go for the spicy pasta salad with salmon and sunflower seeds (next time). While waiting for the meal, I was able to take in the setting within the walls of this antique house turned restaurant. The homey feel was paired with artsy décor, my favorite part being the wine cork covered wall. I also can't go without mentioning how great their ice is. It may sound silly, but the pellet shaped ice made my diet coke extra refreshing. Ding!! The kitchen's desk bell rings and out comes the meal. The flatbread was excellent- the actual bread is perfectly homemade, soft with a crispy edge and a light char. The dressing was light and used sparingly, but just enough. And the shredded, grilled chicken breast completed the combination of flavors. I loved every bite of the dish and only left some of the black bean soup behind- the Cuban in me wasn't so enthused with its blandness. If I were to open a restaurant, I would love for it to be a scaled down version of 2 Dog- serving a menu full of creative dishes, fresh ingredients, and very reasonable prices. Owner/chef Tim Roberts is an inspiration, being that he is a self taught cook, dedicated to the patrons and community of his hometown.

A must try!
(5)Mike S.

(5)Andrea C.
This restaurant had delicious food, great service and wonderful ambiance. Great local place.
(5)Caitlin H.
(5)Meg M.
(5)G S.
Excellent, tasteful food. The soups are always great!
(5)Lon W.
(5)Bernie W.
I had the pecan trout with asparagus and grilled squash. Wonderful dinner! Love the atmosphere as well.
(4)Bebe R.
I love 2 Dog! It's a great local place with good food and great wine. I love the ability to "create my own" dish and the grits with alfredo sauce is amazing. Also, I highly recommend the Peanut Butter Pie for dessert.
(5)Maureen C.
(2)Jason R.

So good.
(5)Ann B.
Great food, great service! My favorite restaurant in Gainesville!
(5)Thomas B.
(5)Paige L.
(5)K M.
I kind of stumbled on this place and am glad that I did. Nice non-chain option in Gainesville with an artsy vibe. Service was great and food was fresh and creative. I would definitely make a return trip and recommend to others.
(4)Brandon S.
THE BEST restaurant in Gainesville. The food is fresh, amazing, and always super delicious. The staff is wonderful, and the atmosphere is unique, relaxing and refreshing. I highly recommend 2 Dog to anyone and everyone I know.
(5)Cassie B.
(5)Eric W.
Stopped in for lunch. Everything was homemade and absolutely delicious. Be sure to stop by when in Gainesville.
(5)Gloria H.
Excellent food! OUTSTANDING service!!!! We had the Sunday brunch, the menu had a great selection. I think The mimosas had fresh squeezed orange juice' yummy!
(5)Kristin B.
(4)Alexis W.
AMAZING BURGER AND HOME FRIES! The homemade ketchup was awesome too. Brought my family here while visiting town, and we all loved it (and they are extremely picky eaters!) Would recommend it to anybody!
(5)Derek M.
(5)Kat S.
I thought it was a hot dog restaurant....LOL Food was ok, but I felt overpriced for the amount.
(3)Carol C.
DO NOT GO IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN 2 PEOPLE. We waited for an hour before they bothered to sit us. During that time, at least 10 groups of individuals were sat before us. I DID make reservations which were not met. I called over to Outback, and we were seated immediately.
(1)Tracey S.
(5)Jeremia P.
Food was excellent, atmosphere was interesting and kind of eclectic. Definitely save room for the blueberry cheesecake.
(4)Emily H.
Excellent fresh food with a very cool atmosphere. I love their sunday brunch! Just make sure you have time to wait if you get caught in the church crowd. Awesome for date night and they have a cute little patio.
(4)Stephanie F.
(5)Gina H.
(5)Maggie H.
Enjoyed it!
(4)Jesse J.
Awesome food and great service!! Bacon blue burger is out of this world! The grilled asparagus was grilled perfectly. We will definitely be back!

(4)Mindy M.
I first discovered 2 Dog about 15 or 16 years ago. The homemade bread, black bean soup & peanut butter pie are all amazing. Although I moved away several years ago, 2 Dog is a must every time I go home to visit!!
(5)Loren C.
This place is in my top ten. The creativity that is put into every dish is compelling. The Gouda fritters are one of my favs. This establishment marries traditional and experimental perfectly.
(5)Dave L.
WOOF! WOOF!
(5)Jerry R.
(4)Teresa S.
Stopped in looking for a quick, light yet filling lunch and got more than I hoped for with a delicious soup and half salad. The chocolate pie was the finishing touch! Fresh ingredients and packed with flavor! I will be back when in town!
(5)S G.
(5)Tbone T.
Service was good, but the food was not. The whole fish special was very dry lacking flavor, as was the rice that came with it.
(2)Alyson S.
(4)Darne R.
Great service, unique atmosphere, and food made from fresh high quality ingredients. The word house made works its way down to the smallest items on the menu. Also they work to accommodate almost any dietary need. Will come here anytime I find myself in Gainesville.
(5)Kevin O.
Great historic house conversion. Lunch was pimento cheese burger (awesome), roasted pumpkin soup (great call on a cold day), and homemade pimento cheese sandwich (perfect w tasty bread) Looking forward to getting back for dinner. A definite destination when in Gainesville
(5)Jason W.
(5)Tammi D.
(2)Mari M.
Visited Gainesville for a day and thought to check this place out. SO worth it. Got the Breakfast Quesadilla off of their Sunday brunch menu. Everything was so delicious and the biscuits definitely tasted fresh. Great last day in Georgia experience.
(5)Dan C.
Just had to be here!! Food is very good service is efficient and fast. Loved the place. Will be going back.
(4)Howard L.
(2)Stephanie P.
I crave this place and wish I could eat there everyday! Food is always fantastic!
(5)Kent U.
Great southern inspired food. I had the Chicken Pesto panini and my wife had The Squealer (BBQ sand). Both were very very good. First time here but we will be back for sure.
(5)John L.
(5)Candice F.
Had the chicken salad sandwich as a melt with Gouda fritters. Entire lunch was delicious and server was super sweet. Will definitely try them again!
(5)Demi M.
(3)Steve W.
(5)Steven G.
ALWAYS great food, fun atmosphere. Not your typical frozen steak and potatoes meal. Nice wine selection. I like that the menu changes sometimes. They have specials and the peanut butter pie is amazing!
(5)Katie D.
(5)Beth B.
(3)Lynn W.
Decor was cute. House chips were good. Burgers were ok, Greek pasta, penne dried out, not much feta, swimming in tasteless oil
(3)Kathy H.
Just sayin.
(2)Tamara H.

Amazing food and would have given 5 stars if the staff hadn't been too busy to keep up. I say go!

The shrimp and grits are great. Also love the ice they use in their drinks. Service is good and the owners are very nice and very attentive. Did not disappoint.
