On my first time they knocked it out of the park! A friend invited me to try this place claiming that they had the most authentic German food in the area and I have to believe that's true. I've never had German food before but this was amazing. The sauerbraten, red cabbage and spaetzle were seasoned to perfection. The beef was so tender it fell apart when my fork touched it. That combined with the quaint atmosphere and friendly service guaranteed we'll be back!

The decor is nice and the German music playing lightly in the background was good. There is no bar to sit at and enjoy a bier vom fass. The wait staff seemed to be going through the motions and for the most part were not welcoming. They were not bad, mind you, but didn't seem thrilled that we came in to eat. The German beer on tap was good, as expected. The food came pretty quickly and there was a lot of it. Too much for us. The spaetzle was tasty but the portion was way too much. The sauerbraten was dry and needed the brown gravy for moisture. The rot-kohl was decent. They could reduce the portion size by 1/3 and reduce the price by 1/4 and be better off. Overall, the food seemed as if it was made and served without love or the passion to make great German cuisine.

JJ and I give this place full stars. He really wanted to sit at a long table like he did in Germany, but beggars can't be choosers. The young men serving were such sweeties. All the staff treated you like family. We both had the German salad-thinly sliced cucumbers, white and purple cabbage and potato salad with dill sauce. If you like sour kraut try the Augsburg house schnitzel. The mash potatoes were creamy and the brown gravy was excellent. JJ had gypsy and jäger schnitzels. He preferred the jäger. I knew he would... It had mushrooms. They both came with these delicious little potato chunks baked crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They also drizzle these with gravy. Don't forget to see room for Black Forest cake. It was the perfect balance to the schnitzel- not overbearing sweet with a light and fluffy texture. Overall it was a great date night with my honey. Hope y'all enjoy something great there too!

Love how this place puts you in an authentic German atmosphere! The food was delicious but a little pricey for the portion sizes that we got, this wont deter me from going back though.

Since I left Germany in 2000, I've been searching for a local awsome, German restaurant. I have satisfied my craving. My son wanted to take me out and I choose this place. The entire staff was pleasant. My son plays football for Fort Valley University. It was so surprising to us when the owner and his wife let us know that they looked for the largest piece of schnitzel to cook him. My poor baby standing 6"2 , 240lbs.....had to get a to go box. The appetizer, salad, and entries where all so delicious and authentic. I can't wait to recommend this restaurant to others.

I was so looking forward to an evening of gulasch suppe and schnitzels with my husband. The first warning sign should have been when we entered there were not any aromas of food cooking at all. The goulash tasted of packaged gravy mix and the schnitzels reminded me of factory breaded, frozen institutional food. I felt sorry for the waitress as she kept apologizing for the meal. While you are served generous portions of side dishes, it does not make up for the dismal lack of flavors that authentic German food is known.

Very good experience and food overall. We went, in the afternoon, and there were only 3 other tables occupied, so we didn't know if that was good or bad? Well it turned out good for us! We ordered the variety platter appetizers and it was very good, offering a great variety to sample. But, after eating the appetizers we still had huge servings of food to come. So we ended up tasting our entrees and taking the majority home. Overall when you are hungry and ready to get hardy, stick to your ribs food. I highly recommend go forth and "Get Your German On".

While visiting Augusta with my fiancé whom is from Germany we tried this place. While the portion sizing was fantastic the food just didn't taste quiet right at all. Service was very lacking and we often ran out of drinks. I got a piece of the worst imitation black Forest cake I've ever tried. We wouldn't give this place another try if we were in town again.

I got the House Special which includes a huge variety of German food. The food is absolutely amazing and filling. Bring an appetite because the portions are huge! Great food and a friendly staff makes for a wonderful dining experience!

When my fiance and I first entered this place, I was a bit skeptical of how good the food would be because there were no customers there and the inside was darkly lit. However, once we sat down and started talking to our waiter/chef, I was pleasantly surprised. The man offered recommendations of which foods to try (since we had never had German food before) and they were spot on to our tastes. I had the gulasch which is a type of gravy and meat poured on top of these noodle like things (see my picture to understand what I'm talking about). It was very heavy on the stomach which was actually a good thing because I had skipped breakfast that morning. About halfway through the meal, my fiance and I switched plates so we could get a new taste on our palates. My fiance ordered the jaegerschnitzel which is fried pork and this was also topped with gravy (though you can get it without). It came with chunks of potato too which complimented the pork. This plate is also a bit heavy on the stomach, but very delicious. Overall, I liked this place. It wasn't the most amazing food I've had, but I'd recommend others to give this place a try (especially if you're a 'meat and potatoes' type of person). We paid about $7.50 per dish during lunch. Dinner is a bit pricy at about $12 a dish.

Big portions, and the flavors of the food are just wonderful. You feel like you were just prepared an extra-special meal by people who really love what they do. Delicious, filling, and you're almost guaranteed to walk out with a doggie bag in hand. A taste of home-style Germany~!

Absolutely wonderful staff. The food was delicious and the staff was always ready. Will definitely be going back. Very happy with the schnitzel cordon blue.

Authentic grade A style german food and drinks. I have family from Germany and when they come out here they can't tell a difference!

If you want to know what it's like to eat German food in Germany, come to this place! The food is right on as is the atmosphere. While it is a bit on the pricier end of things for a standard evening out, the huge portions and quality food make it worth it.

Every time I'm in Augusta I stop here for lunch or dinner! Best ever. Great staff. Wonderful and authentic food. I wish they would open in Kennesaw! I have never been disappointed here and recommend it to anybody in the area.

Family run restaurant, that takes some getting use to if all you ever go to are the chain joints, or fast food places. They are very helpful to explain the menu, offer substitutes, or even make something to order. I go there at least once a month, never disappointed with the food. Always hot, made fresh, and never prepackaged like all the chain places. This is real and great Bavarian food like, you get in Big D, Spatan Optimator on tap. The owner and his wife make you feel like family and not just some customer. Not sure try it out at lunch, no tv's, German music, no hustle to get you in or out. Just like any small restaurant in, Augusta or over sea's need to be opened minded and not expect the same old, same old. Now closed Mon/Tues don't know why it says closed on Wednesday? Very quiet during the day, great place to talk, No Tv's, Bar area, or other bell's and whistles. They aren't needed, remember that the service is laded back and they don't fuss at you every minute. But they do make you feel like family if you are a return customers!

Having lived in Germany for over six years I can honestly say the food is delicious. Good lunch menu portions not too much not too little.

I spent some time in Germany and the food here is very authentic. Like traditional German cuisine, it is heavy and comes in big portions...which this restaurant provides. I've tried various types of their schnitzel, their schweinebraten, gulasch, spaetzle, potato salad, cucumber salad and all of it was excellent. Their beer selection is nice as well, as it is comprised of several types of beer that are available in Germany. I usually go with the dunkelweizen...fantastic. On one occasion, we stayed a little late and the owner and his family went above and beyond with their service and friendship. They really made us feel like part of their family. This is extremely authentic to restaurants and pubs in Germany, where guests are treated as if they were the most important people in the world. I highly recommend Augsburg Haus.

Let me start by saying: I have lived in Germany Twice and am absolutely in love with most of the food!! I was so excited to try this place out since I hadn't gotten to eat real German food for about 4 or 5 years. I was greatly disappointed by the food here. I order the Jaeger Schnitzel with the potato salad and fried potatoes. The potato salad tasted old and the potatoes in it felt like they were about to expire before they were cooked. I usually like mayo-less authentic German salad! The fried potatoes were very underwhelming, and the Schnitzel was so so... I know that there are many different tastes and flavors in one country but I was so disappointed! Especially after paying nearly $18 for this mediocre food...

Really good authentic food. The portions are big which justifies the prices. My wife, my daughter and i split the appetizer sampler and that was enough for us. I will definitely come back here with friends. Seems like a great place to watch futbol games!

Having lived in Germany for the better part of 8 years I was very hesitant to visit this place. Mainly because I didn't want to be let down, to be honest with you. So, for New years we decided to stop in and let me tell you...I was not at all disappointed, and kicked myself for not coming in here sooner. All the food that I had lived on in Germany for eight years, was available at this place. The food was also very good, the serving size is what you would expect for an actual German guest haus in Germany...Huge. I was even able to have my favorite German beer, I loves me some Dunkleweissen. The only thing that I would say that was unexpected was the price, it was very pricy about 15$-20$-25$ per person. But, it wasn't enough for me to drop their rating. If your looking to venture out of your normal chain restaurant eating, I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Love the decorations, reminds of a German Gasthaus. Plenty of pictures, knickknacks and ornaments brings this place a great deutsches vibe. I order the small german salad plate, a tasty mix of cucumber salad, potato salad, colorful kraut and greens with a sour cream like dill dressing. This was very good, definitely worth ordering if you want something fresh with your meal. I ordered the schnitzel and fries with curry ketchup. The schnitzel was over done, it was cut in half for a lunch portion so it makes me think that it was fried before and than re-fried??? The fries and ketchup were great!! Establishment seems to have a large regular clientele, so maybe the schnitzel was just a fluke. Service was good until the gentleman that brings out salad and cleans accidentally brought out salads to the wrong table, female waitress reamed into him loud enough for whole restaurant to hear. She demanded he fix it and make new salads.....not even a please or thank you. I probably would have given this place a second chance because the menu looked great, lots of variety but one thing I cannot stand is rude employees especially to one another in front of customers.

Augsburg Haus doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is - a place that, with the first bite, will transport you and old German grandmothers kitchen. The atmosphere is very casual and it is definitely not budget dining, but you won't care. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive to our group. My yagerschnitzel and fried potatoes was slightly overdone at the edges, but still delicious and overflowed the plate. The cucumber salad came with a light dill dressing that, for me, was a tad bland - a problem easily solved with a dash of salt and pepper. Overall, a nice surprise and a restaurant I will definitely come back to.

Wow, I'm surprised to find this place in Augusta. The location is easy to find and it's right across the street from Super Walmart. I could be wrong but it looked like they got the whole family to work that night. A teenage girl served me water, a little boy brought out our salads, and the grandma helped cleaned up the tables. It was nice to see how the family interact & worked together. We had a hard time pronouncing the entrees on their menu. I wish they had numbers next to each dishes. We started with a German salad and a cucumber salad. I play it safe and ordered the Schnitzel breaded and pan fried pork served with french fries. I asked for lemon so that i can squeeze it onto the Schnitzel. It brings out the taste and moisten the meat. He ordered the Krauter-Rahm Schnitzel which is a pan fried pork (not breaded) with a garlic cream sauce served with spaetzle. I don't eat enough German food to know if it's authentic, but it was good enough to make me want to come back.

Nothing even close to authentic German food.
(2)Ryan R.
Absolutely overpriced. The food was par, but not for the price. If you want good, authentic, German food then take a trip to the ghetto and try out Villa Europa. I still can't believe how overpriced this place is. No actual Germans in the whole place. My friend took a German lady there and she said it was awful but nice try. These people are southerners just trying to make extra money on the fact they have a monopoly in the CSRS and sponsor everything. Go do yourself a favor and go to villa Europa. They are real Germans and have better prices for what you get and an excellent selection of beer and wine.

Absolutely gute!!! Wonderful, authentic German food, reasonable prices, huge portions and VERY friendly staff!!!!

Good food, friendly staff, and awesome portion sizes (see pictures). Their Gulash is a go-to for me. So good. It's definitely heavy (like all german food) so you don't need to order an excessive amount of food. I'll be back!

Came here for the first time tonight with the hubby. This is more his review rather than mine. He enjoyed the beers on tap and the selection of the beer they had. Staff and service was good and nothing to complain about. (I'm not a big German food lover, even after living and traveling throughout Europe) my husband ordered the goulash and enjoyed it. Reminded him of his mom's cooking. I can't get over the texture of the Spaetzle. The goulash was good and had nice flavor. Ordered the German potato salad and it was as good as any other potato salad but it was a bit too sour. My husband will definitely be back. One thing I want to add is that the food was delivered by a younger male, (owners son?) but he had a toothpick in his mouth. :/ Came on a Friday evening and it was pretty busy. They need TVs so we can watch World Cup/futbol matches there!

Disappointing meal. Not the place I remembered and enjoyed. The schnitzel cordon blue was a disaster (I think). The pork schnitzel looked like a preformed and breaded very thin pork cutlet with heavy breading. They fried the living heck out of the cutlet and cut it in half and then placed a slice of ham (probably a slice fron the grocery store freezee section) and a slice of cheese. So absolutely no fresh preparation of the food and no real pride in delivering a meal to remember...opps maybe this is the memory they want to deliver?
