This is the best place for authentic Mexican food. The staff are very friendly and the food is in a class by its own. The salsa is a little spicy but not too bad. Full bar and outside seating available. Staff is friendly and helpful, they don't skimp on the portions.

I have eaten here in the past and it was good, this was the last time. Staff was nice and friendly, place is clean however prices have gone way up. I ordered the vegetarian fajitas which I have had before $14.00. There were 2 strips of red bell pepper, quarter of an onion and three thin, crispy strips of portabella. Maybe $4.00 worth with tiny sides. Sad and disappointing, lots of hot plate showing with nothing on it, I was shocked they sent it out of the kitchen. My husband had steak tacos that he said were OK but salty and greasy. One of the kids had chicken strips, the best meal of all. Sad!

Very very salty food they have. Everything is way too salty. Although decorations are very cute, I won't come here again

I have been coming to this location for at least 8+ years and I was always guaranteed a good meal and service. I went today and the service was awful!!! I had queso with no chips for 10 minutes. Fajitas and no tortillas for 15 minutes, no refills, no silverware nothing!!! We had to keep tracking down the server. Then the food was also nasty. We had fajitas with no sizzle and I can forgive that but the veggies were almost raw. They changed the chicken because it is not the same!!! It taste fake and gross I will not be returning

Terrible. Just terrible. Took my brother here for his 17th birthday and the waiter told him that he looked 12. He turned to me and asked me for my age. I told him I am 21. He asked me when I turned 21 like he was in shock. I told him I turn 22 next month. Very rude and unprofessional. Treated me as though I was 15 years old and had no money to spend. Tried to make conversation by asking me if I had any other siblings and I told him I had an older brother as well and he asked where he was. I told him that my brother was at work and he replied with a "someone's got to work." What in the heck does that even mean. He asked what I did and I told him I was a college student studying nursing. He treated me very poorly since I look young. Don't judge someone based on their look. I am a very reserved person and don't appreciate these unnecessary comments. Do your job and stop being rude. For someone his age, probably 50s, shouldn't you know how to act? Anyway, I ordered a lunch combo. It was terrible. Chicken tortilla soup was disgusting and watered down. My brother didn't touch his and I ate half of mine. Disgusting. Had random chunks of cheese and was not edible. The chicken quesadilla had about 2 oz of meat in it. Terrible. I would have just cooked a meal at home if I knew how disappointed I was going to be. My brother was very disappointed as well but ate all of his food since he was hungry. Will NEVER come back to this place again. I want my money back. I tipped a terrible 15% which I never do. I always tip 30-35% since I used to be a waitress. This was the worse experience I've ever had. I'd be so surprised if thy reimbursed me. How do they even stay in business? Ugh.

I've been a customer of this chain for many years, and this was one of the worst experiences I've had. The restaurant was not full, yet people were waiting to sit while tables and booths remained wide open. Management was non-existent, and the male bartender couldn't have been any worse for service. The only redeeming factor was Angela and the food. This location needs a new general manager!

Went for lunch today, we started with the guac live, which was delicious. However, it took more than an hour to get a bowl of soup, a quesadilla and nachos, all of which were cold and had been sitting out in the kitchen. We were extremely disappointed. One star for the guacamole and the other for our waiter.

The hostess was not able to communicate clearly. I sat for 10 minutes before the bartender eventually took my order. The waitress stopped at every table speaking to fellow diners, but walked by me 5 times and never spoke. Once the order was taken, it took over 30 minutes for the food to arrive. Fail. The manager offered an apology and vouchers. I accepted apology but not the vouchers. Won't be back.

Had a great experience today at the OTB in Duluth. tried the "La Bandera" enchiladas... looks like the Mexican flag with one green sauce enchilada, one white queso, and red chile sauce, with three different meats inside. I was in Mexican heaven. Dos Equis lager went perfect with it! We had a party of 18 or so and received excellent service from Sheba. If you're ever in the area and craving some great Mexican (even tho it is a chain, still GREAT!) then definitely stop in and make sure and say hey to Alan!

I haven't been to this location in years because of a bad experience, but decided to come back bc the people I was with wanted to. We had a small dog with us (less than 15lbs) so we called to make sure it was ok for us to bring the dog if we sat in the patio. They said yes it was completely fine. So, they sat us on the patio, the dog present, the waiter came to take our order for drinks and appetizer, the manager even walked by to talk to us and even commented on how cute the dog was and then left. About 15 mins later, the manager came back and told us we can't have the dog on the patio. When we told him we had called beforehand and only came bc we were informed that it was ok he said we were informed incorrectly. What I did not understand was what happened in those 15 mins. We were sat by the host, a waiter took our order and manager even came for a friendly chat only to come back later to tell us we can't have the dog. Needless to say we were very turned off. I now remember why I had sworn this place off years ago. I will definitely not come back here ever again and I will make sure to tell everyone I know I don't recommend this place.

Typical restaurant that serves overpriced margaritas that are extremely weak. My margarita was $8.75...and I could have sworn there was no TEQUILA in it. C'mon people!!! Hook a sister up! The food was tasty, but then again I can never hate on tex-mex food. The overabundance of veggies and endless salsa/chips seem to hit my mexi-crave right on. Give me more tequila and I'll bump you up a star.

You get complimentary chips and salsa, and I love it when the salsa has a nice kick to it. I split an order of the Citrus Chicken Salad with a co-worker along with the Brisket Taco (lunch portion). Our server was very accomodating with our request of splitting the items up for us. The salad IMO was just okay. Imagine your basic salad items with jicama, tangerine and orange juice poured over it. I guess that's all you can expect for a 290 calorie meal. As for the Brisket Taco, it wasn't too bad. The saving grace was the crunchy onions that adds a nice texture to the tacos. However, no one at our table ate the rice. It was no bueno. Tasted like hard, instant rice that sat around too long. Went to the bathroom to wash my hands after my meal, and no paper towels in the dispensers. Booooo! Ultimately, service was good, but food was nothing to call home about.

I stopped by to place a "To Go" order late in the evening on July 4th. I WAS NOT greeted upon entering the restaurant, but then again no one was at the hostess stand. Yet, I saw other servers walking near me and none of them stopped to see if I needed anything. Another couple entered after I did and they literally had to flag someone down to be seated, I watched other patrons walk in and experience the same issue. People kept saying "Do we seat ourselves?" Bad customer service unfortunately. However I placed my to go order which took about 15 - 20 minutes and once I got back to my hotel and began to eat I must say...my food was good. They provided a huge bag of chips and large container of salsa that was enough to share with others. I ordered the pick 3 (beef empanadas, beef tostada and chicken enchilada. It was around $10.00 for all 3 items with a side of refried beans and Mexican rice. I felt it was a pretty good deal. I would return when visiting the area but probably wouldn't dine in as the staff did not appear attentive to guests.

The first few times we went their with friends it was great. However recently the wait time is way too long and the servers never have time to check on ur orders. I understand the place is large but its embarrassing when you bring in new people and your waiting to get seated in an empty restaurant.

I come here often for business lunches. Their chips and salsa are solid. Their customer service is on par and the food here is always consistent. I've tried most of their salads and love their lowfat menu options. The salads are served in large portions and their chicken entrees are pretty filling as well. They have a great outdoor patio area that I have yet to try but seems very inviting and comfortable. Although it's a chain restaurant, you can always expect the food to be hot and served the same every time.

Pretty good place to eat. I enjoyed my barbacoa enchilada. My girlfriend had the chicken fajitas, which she thoroughly enjoyed. It hit the spot and the portions were generous. Service was a little slow, we came around 11:00 am on a Saturday, but we were not in a hurry.

I love OTB for their fresh chips - made in the restaurant and always hot. They go well with their fresh pico and their other dippings including guacamole and the queso. Lots of locations have the queso blanco which I prefer to the yellow. The Guacamole Live is made to order, but costs just a little more. Some of the best guac there is - no preservatives - just made to order. The staff is always friendly and expedient with our orders. We travel with a kid and they are always accommodating us by placing us in a booth, or getting a booster seat, etc. My wife and I mostly dine on the chips, and split an entree. I like pretty much everything they have on their menu. It is good Tex-Mex, but don't expect an authentic Mexican experience. The Cantina / Techno music mix that greets you as soon as you walk in the door should be your tip off.

Waiter taste the soup...aha...love the movie, Eddie was brilliant in it....no, this isn't a movie review and it wasn't the missing spoon, but a case of ...no food. My wife took 4 boys for lunch today around 1:30 PM. A total of 6 tables were occupied. After waiting for 10 minutes and no acknowledgement, my wife had to get attention from the wait staff. The boys ordered burritos, off the menu, nothing special. 50 minutes later, after checking with the wait staff, they had to leave as there was no sign of food, no effort from the wait staff to inform them of the delay, no apologies and apparently no sign of management. Hope the home office reads this, it is hight time for a change in management and of retraining of the wait staff on the fundamentals of service at this location. Only giving it one star as zero star was not an option.

I admit, I wasn't expecting much. The experience was less than my expectations. The hostess wasn't really paying attention and when she asked where we preferred to sit, my friends said "inside". And we were promptly ushered out onto the patio. Um, what? Okay, it's a nice day, we won't argue. Until we waited close to 10 mintues for a server. My friend went inside to ask where our server was and apparently ran into him. He was very apologetic and gave us free queso for the wait, so they saved themselves from a one star review. The food was meh. The queso was very obviously melted Velveeta. Ew. Velveeta has its place (mac & cheese, anyone?) but not to be eaten on the hoof. My taco was relatively bland and the empanada bled grease everywhere when I bit into it. At least I didn't pay too much for it. I got the lunch special and was out for around $11 with tip. We were both on our lunch break and went over our allotted hours. You would figure a place like this would have the lunch game down to a science. Wrong. I doubt very seriously I'll ever go here again. I've gotten better service at Wendy's.

  • Khuram D.

Best part is the chips & salsa. The veg fajitas are over-priced. $14? For some veggies & 3 tortillas. Service is pretty solid, just about everytime. We visit once a month. Great atmosphere. If the prices got lowered about 20%, this would get 4 stars.

Came here for lunch as a group.. Food was normal.. nothing to rave about or new.. Just felt like any normal mexican restaurant.. expected a little more since it was "On the Border"

The food was great, they made the substitutions requested but forgot my sides and i even asked the manager for them. One member in our party couldn't get guacamole because they were out of avocados but guests that came after us got guacamole. The waitress was rude on several separate occasions, the queso was so cold we couldn't get our chips in it, we couldn't get refills for our tea....the list goes on and on. Get take out!

Well in NY OTB stands for Off Track Betting, but in GA it stands for Chain Mexican food, Eh, this place is OK, and by OK I mean I don't know of any other Mexican Restaurant in GA that serves Empanadas so it's A-OK. Service is fast and friendly. The Empanadas are good [I think I like the chicken one's better]. If i'm in the mood and in this area I usually stop in.

I have been here about 3-4 times. The salsa and chips are good, better than your average Mexican restaurant. I have never been disappointed by anything on the menu and I like their lowfat options which is a feat in itself when it comes to Mexican food. Service is good and consistent and I like the ambience here.

-semi-friendly staff -Over priced for what you get $30 for lunch for 2 people -Portion size was very very small- infact my waitor laughed when I asked "will this fill me up" -Taco bell blows this place away

Solo this evening. Arrived around 4:45p. In my approx 1hr dining experience, I've had 3 different people wait on me. The first one took my order, the second brought the appetizer and main course at the same time then the bill shortly after saying "take your time", the third person took my credit card, and the second person reappeared to give the receipt back to me and say "have a nice night". Wish I didn't have a pile of dirty dishes in front of me and could get something else to drink... Main course was ok (enchiladas). Guacamole Live appetizer was blah. Service was pretty bad given the number of people I see running around and the lack of customers.

I am a Mexican Food Junkie, I can eat it 4-5 times a week and not get tired of it yum yum. One of the regular places my family and I go for dinner is On the Border. The staff is always friendly and the service is generally good. The first tell of a Mexican restaurant: chips and salsa. Yummy in my tummy, I always eat way too much and regret it once I get my food (but I do it everytime, so how much do I actually regret it??). The salsa tastes fresh and the chips (half taco shells) are crisp. The queso dip is good as well, but nothing spectacular. The second tell: Food. I almost always get the three sauce fajita burrito with chicken, extra of the three sauces on the side. For my taste, the sauce that comes on top of it isn't enough (I love my food saucy though). The rice and black beans it comes with are average. If you aren't a big fan of Mexican rice, ask for their cilantro white rice--my parents prefer it. Finally, the finishing touches, dessert. After all the food, the few times we've had enough room we get the Kahlua Ice Cream Pie or Chocolate Turtle Empanadas. Both are EXCELLENT! Very good, yummmmmmmmmmmm. I am drooling right now thinking about it. So after all that, why 4 stars and not 5? When you order a cerveza there are two sizes, small and large. Generally it is easier to decipher the difference between them because the large is noticeably bigger. However, at On the Border when you pour the small size glass INTO the large size goblet (yeah, that's what they give) there is very little difference (the sizes looked funny to us, so we tried this experiment--in front of the manager). From the look on the manager's face he got caught between a rock and a hard place, with nothing to say he blamed it on corporate. This incident happened last year, I am not sure if they changed anything since then. Lesson learned, buy a margarita.

Tried them for the 1st time last week and i must say I was surprised the food was so good. I thought it was more tex-mex but they have authentic dishes as well as queso cheese (I hate the yellow cheese). I called to order my food as a pick up for lunch and was disappointed when I arrived the didn't no who took my order, so I had to wait as they re-ordered my food. They did give me a free soft drink and a discount on my meal. I was so pissed about waiting but once I got back to the office the food made up for it. I plan to give them another try soon.

We have been going to this OTB for more than 4 years and it can be quite hit or miss. On our last visit we had a waiter (Richard I think is his name, heavy set guy) who is so simply inept that we can't understand how he still works there, and has been for years now. We usually move from his section if we get seated there but this time we didn't see any other table that would fit our group, so we were stuck. Our office decided that his horrible service was the last straw and are no longer planning our weekly lunch outings to OTB.

Food: They have very few veg options which sucks but the options they do have are pretty tasty. Service: Always friendly and helpful. Price: Not too bad for full service. Five of us ate for around $65, without desert.

We stopped in here because we had been shopping for beds for my kid and Rooms To Go Kids was the last place on the list and it's across the street from On The Border. I've been to On The Borders before (but not that this one) and they mostly serve their purpose. Hey, I'm not looking for authentic mexican food but the food had been tasty in the past. First impression...jeebus! expensive. The lunch menu was the price of a lot of places dinner menus....The place was also dead which I found odd for lunch time. I decided to order the fajita nachos because they were one of the cheapest things on the lunch menu and you can't really mess them up right? Wrong! They were not really even warm. Sort of a lukewarm temp with some extra greasy slimy cheese on top. The meat had no flavor and overall, they were just bleh. In fact, they were so bleh, I've felt like crap ALL day. 4 hours later and my stomach still hurts and I don't have a sensitive stomach and never feel sick unless something is horribly amiss... So avoid this place like the plague. Go eat fast food before you eat here because it's just gross (and expensive for what you get!)

I absolutely LOVE this On The Border. There's nothing about the food that is overly spectacular, but the service is what keeps me coming back. My mom took me to this location for the first time for my birthday about a year ago and I had a server named, Kesley who was AMAZING. Since then, my friends and I go back at least once a month for dinner and margaritas, always sit in his section, and we haven't had one bad experience. So if you want great service - ask for Kesley, he's awesome!

This place servces it's purpose in that it serves something other than Tex-Mex like Frontera, El Torrero, Taco Bell (lol) and others. 4-stars only because their drinks are FANTASTIC though and the waiters, while not really knowledgable about anything on the menu (lol) were very nice. But alas, Mexican restaurants in the south just pale in comparison to the real deal out west :-)

I've been here several, several times and well, generally, OTB is great, but this particular location is not that fantastic. Actually, it seems like the quality of food and service has gone down some over the last few years, but it's possible that I'm imagining that. I hadn't been here in awhile and was welcomed with a revamped menu, which may or may not be a good thing. I always feel iffy about a menu that's been "revitalized" - it's a hit or miss. Anyway, now, there's probably something yummy to meet every family member's picky tastes, but there's just so many items that it's a bit overwhelming. (Something fun: they now have premium tacos, which means you can now choose from their regular awesome fish tacos or mahi mahi ones, which I didn't order because mahi mahi, in my opinion, tastes like chicken...) When it comes to menus, I'm not a fan of flipping through pages and pages; if I wanted to do that, I'd go buy a book! Just sayin`. Moving on... service is, in short, mediocre. Our waiter seemed very nervous and super awkward, but polite. We killed the chips and salsa multiple times, but for one of the batches of chips, someone was a little too generous on the salt. Got the house margarita, which is TINY for $5 and I finished it all in a few quick gulps! Before I knew it, I had reached the bottom and in addition to not feeling any better, this margarita was not too exciting, but I've had worse. Uhhh what else? Oh yeah. Food. My fish tacos satisfied my hunger and dude, they serve a lot of food. Rice was kind of ehh though. Parents shared fajitas (steak?), which looked so-so. I don't know. This is weird. I used to LOVEEEEE OTB, no questions asked. What happened? No se!

You just can't get good Mexican food at an American named chain restaurant. You just can't. I was out here on business, and my cousin, who lives down the street from here, told me this was the place to go for some good ol' fashioned Mexican food...... Problem is, he's Chinese and has never been to the border of Mexico (let alone IN Mexico), so I don't think he really knows what good ol' fashioned Mexican food is. I was Jonesing for some Mexican food for a while 'til I found out that Norcross was just north of Duluth........ they had some really good Mom & Pop's places out there that more than satisfied the cravings.... (just wish I could remember the names of those places so I could send them a Yelp!).

Ack! Okay, I hadn't been to an On the Border in over a year. My coworkers convinced me to go saying they had changed the menu. So I decided to just give it another shot. The food tastes just like it used to despite any menu changes they may have made. It is just gross to me. Just not good. Not flavorful. Sure, it was spicy, but things can be spicy and still lack flavor. It was a waste of $10.00 in my opinion. I had the lunch chimi with black beans and rice. The black beans with cold and the rice was lukewarm. The chimi was crazy spicy but still bland. The service could have been better. I hate it when a server notices I have consumed all of my drink but doesn't bring me a new one until I ask. That is just stupid. Sigh...I will have to decline any future offers to dine at On the Border. Waste of money and calories.

They have the cheapest margaritas ever, $3 each margarita and the queso was like $4 something, which is not bad at all!!! I think I will definitely go back! I got a little buzz from the two Rita's which was great!

This place is nice to come with family. The food is great. My mouth drools just thinking about eating at the SPOT. This place is the SPOT TO have a nice hot meal. To me the place is so nice that I could come here everyday. I haven't been here for long time. My family enjoys this place

I may be a bit partial to this restaurant since it's my go-to watering hole and I've became a regular fairly quickly. One of the reasons why I started coming to this place was they make solid margaritas for the price. The also have happy hours from 4-7 and 9-close, if you sit in the bar. After you snack on chips for awhile, you're not that hungry anyways so I normally wait until a happy hour starts and order an appetizer or two off of that menu. I can only speak to the service at the bar since that's where I sit, but it's always been great! Out of all the times I'm there, I've only seen guests get upset with the kitchen not slow service from the bartenders. If you're looking to have a few margaritas and an entree and not pay an arm and leg, this is your place!

Before I say anything I have to get something off my chest. our server looked like Channing Tatum- If your reading this, just know I love you! I went with a friend that I have not seen in so long to mostly drink and talk shit. Just kidding. Maybe. For the first 10 minutes nobody came, the manager came rushing over and asked us if we had been taken care of. We said no. Okay so it started off rough, but he got someone. We had two glasses of margarita's and two shots of tequila. The house margarita were four dollars each. Oh my my =D The queso dip was good, and my chimichanga was huge! I thought the food was average. The service was a tad bit slow. But on the bright side I was tipsy! All is good.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
