I've been to this location a couple of times and while it's not the best to come to at night the food really hits the spot. I've gotten the meatloaf with the green beans & mac & cheese. The meatloaf was always tender with a sweet sauce, green beans well seasoned and the mac & cheese home made. Took a look at the web site & see that they have a Gwinnett location & will have to give them a try. Good place for a home-cooked meal.

I've driven by this place a zillion times and finally decided to stop in today. I got the blackened fish, veggie medley, and Mac & Cheese. I think I may go back again. The food was pretty good, however, I agree with others that It tastes a bit salty. The rib tips must be the biggest seller because several people came in and got that.

My husband and I had gone to this restaurant yesterday and while the staff were nice and friendly, I cannot say the same about the food. We had meatloaf and veggies. The meatloaf has a nice mildly sweet (tastes like honey bbq sauce) however the following was overseasoned with an extra buttery and rock salt taste: green beans zucchini collard greens The mac and cheese was very bland and yams tasted like it was flavored with syrup (more than likely they were canned yams). The restaurant was clean, the bill came up to about $20. I hope they read the reviews and try to make improvements to get a competitive edge.

No lard yeah cooked soul food. Passed here for years and decided to give a try. Best black eyed peas as I hate mushy peas and these were cooked to perfection. Cabbage still had crunch and collards had right amount of still slightly bitter as they should be. Cornbread a little too thick for my liking. Smooth R&B playing in background Cool if indifferent service for first-timers, but apparently many regulars that were greeted much better. Probably would be more crowded if this was corrected.

The mashed potatoes had that "we've been here for hours" coating on them, mac & cheese was bland and kind of watery... The meatloaf was overloaded with ketchup. Yes, you could clearly identify the overdone taste of ketchup on the meatloaf. Not the way it's supposed to be. Then there is the service. In a word: unpleasant. They make me want to apologize for having the audacity to come in and heaven-forbid have them do some work. Makes me wonder, "why are you even here"? If youre desperate then go here otherwise go to a place thats happy to have customers a place where the people are nice and the food is good. This isnt that place.

After a mind bending encounter at the worst restaurant ever, my daughter and I soldiered on and drove over to Who's Got Soul. This, after I searched several times for "I Know You Got Soul", as I couldn't quite remember the name, and MY soul is stuck back in the 80s with Eric B & Rakim. We pulled into the parking lot, and the place was bright and clean, with lots of in and out customers while we were there. The food looked delicious, and the sides aren't cooked in pork, which is music to this vegetarian's ears. I got my standard soul food sampler veggie plate: mac & cheese (I judge all chefs by this dish), candied yams, collard greens and potato salad. It came with cornbread, and although the temptation was mighty, I resisted the delicious looking dessert selections. The yams were delicious - not syrupy sweet, I could still taste the actual yam itself. The greens were a little vinegary at first, but it's an acquired taste, it grew on me and I ordered it again on my 2nd visit. The macaroni and cheese was delicious, with a nice brown crust (love!) and not too heavy on the processed cheese - definitely didn't taste like it was out of a box. The potato salad, though, was the star of the show. Perfectly combined ingredients and packaged separately in its own little container, for late night revisiting. I'd planned to take it to work the next day, but as always, I forgot in my frantic, total-lack-of-planning rush out the door in the morning, and by the time I got home it was ravaged by my daughter, who had the audacity to remark about how delicious it was. My daughter got mashed potatoes and rice and gravy - she offered me nothing, so I'd say those were equally tasty. The cornbread muffins were perfect, the price was right ($6.95 for a four veggie meal with decent portions), and the service was excellent. When I brought my two little ones (second visit) and they were placing their orders, the woman at the cash register reminded them that they needed vegetables, just like a mother would. I liked that. There were also five or six tables filled this time around, watching the playoff games and cheering. To be honest, it felt like visiting that Auntie's house - the one who throws down in the kitchen (better than your mother, but you know better than to actually say that, due to sibling rivalry and the fact that you have to go home, eventually) takes no mess, and warmly welcomes all who enter. I like that in a soul food joint, too. I'll definitely be back, and I'm almost glad the other place was so wretchedly awful. Happy endings all around!

Decided to stop by for a meal after seeing their advertisement on the marquis for $3.99 lunch special. It was about 1:30pm. When I asked for this special, I was told that it was on certain days. I informed the staff that this exception was not written on the marquis. They said they ran out of letters. In consideration of bad advertising to which was admitted, you would have thought that at the very least, they would have honored the special anyway, but they didn't. Hopefully the owner will see this review and purchase enough letters to adequately inform customers so folks won't be mislead like I was.

Saturday night with no clue what to eat and I found myself at Who's got soul. Clean, small store and parking lot with a group of really nice people that got you your food really quick. Definitely appreciate that. I did think it was weird that there weren't any prices or photos on the wall, but there is a menu that you can swipe from the cash register. I ended up getting a 4 veggie plate for just about $8. Black eye'd peas, green beans, and a couple of orders of collard greens. Right off the bat I noticed everything was far too salty for me. In fact, the green beans were so salty that I couldn't (and didn't) eat them. I was only able to eat the beans and greens because the corn bread muffin was slightly sweet. I did enjoy the really quick service and really nice staff. I can't speak on the meat here, but everything else looked great, and the cobbler looked amazing, but I didn't try it.

Super nice people and delicious, fresh soul food. YES: I enjoyed everything I ate (and that was quite a bit). Creamy corn, sweet potatoes and beans were homestyle perfect. Fat fried shrimp and mac n cheese heaven. Lots of folks seemed to be chowing down on beef tips and smothered pork, so might meat that next time. Loved the peach cobbler, just out of the oven. I had to wait to move away from Atlanta to come back and discover a southern food restaurant that was worthwhile. My coworkers and I found our way to this place after I did a search on Yelp for great peach cobbler in the area. We got peach cobbler and banana pudding one evening after leaving work. While we were there waiting for our desserts, we were observing the food they had available on the line and browsed their menu. After enjoying the delicious desserts, we decided to go back the next day for lunch. Mmm mmm good. I had a veggie plate consisting of macaroni & cheese, greens, green beans, and yams with a corn muffin. This is the 'bite your hand off if you put it over this way' type food. Seasoning was great and the quantity was great. I only finished half of my plate and had the rest for dinner. One coworker had fried whiting and another had fried chicken. They both were very pleased. They have food ready on the line but they also can cook items that are on the menu but not on the line. The fried chicken and fried whiting had to be ordered and cooked there since it was not available on the line. The 'customer service' is, well, southern. It's not really 'nice' but it isn't 'rude' either. The 'taught' courtesies are there (i.e. thank you, come back to see us, ma'am, etc) but I wouldn't say it was particularly 'friendly' if those sort of things are important to you.

I've been on a soul food mission and I really wanted to like this place. I had a terrible craving and needed to nurse my hangover with some soul. I was so disappointed. Everything was either burned or had a burned taste. What a let down... The restaurant is clean and cute, but I'm opting for Hodges or Celebrity Mr. Crab next time.

Small place with friendly staff and buffet-style food. It's not a serve yourself buffet, but the food is pre-cooked while kept warm so you can get in and out quickly. (Exception: the fried chicken is made to order, which I hear takes a while.) I ordered the oxtail, greens, mac and cheese, banana cream pie, and peach cobbler. oink oink The oxtail was to die for! It was served over rice in a yummy sauce and just melted off the bones. There was also a good amount of meat on the bones. The greens and mac and cheese were good but saltier than I like. A piece of cornbread also came with my meal. I'm not a fan of non-sweet cornbread, so considering there wasn't much sugar in it, it was decent. The banana cream pie would've been perfect if only they didn't use an artificial banana flavoring of some kind. I absolutely hate artificial banana flavor, and the real bananas that it had was all it needed. The peach cobbler was just okay. The crust was too starchy tasting and it seemed like they used too much nutmeg. Overall, I definitely recommend trying this place out if you are in the mood for soul food.

I don't know where the other reviewers ate, the must be relatives of the owner...but the food was mediocre at best. I am new to the area and looked up the best soul food in Decatur. However "Who's Got Soul Cafe" is not it. The macaroni & cheese, who some rated as tasting "homemade" tasted bland and worse than velveeta mac & cheese from the box. I ordered the oxtail, usually one of my favorites, were under done & the seasoning was off. The cornbread tasted old and the greens vinegary. The only tasty item out of 4 dinners my party ordered, was the catfish. Thanks Yelp, for a 8 mile ride...I would have enjoyed hot wings from Checkers more. :(

I was on my way to Fellini's and noticed that the parking lot for this place was packed. I've seen a few restaurants come and go at this location. The parking lot can hold only about 15 cars. But I've never seen it packed. So I had to stop. I was glad that I did. The food was fresh and good. The service was friendly. It's your typical cafeteria style soul food place. They cook the veggies without pork!! Some items are cooked to order, like fish and chicken. I ordered the fried chicken wing dinner (3 whole wings). The cashier informed me that it would take take about 15 minutes because the chicken is cooked to order. For my two sides, I ordered collard greens and mac and cheese. the chicken was great, nicely seasoned and crispy. The mac and cheese was so creamy and delicious. The greens were just right. And the peach cobbler good, not too sweet. The only reason that I didn't give this place five stars is that they have no salads on the menu. No potato salad or tossed salad. I give this place 2 stars simply because the food was actually tasty. What this place lacks is customer service. Not sure who the owner is but until there is some drastic change in how the customers are talked to, served, and treated I will not be returning. We chose to dine in and ordered a tilapia combo with a drink. We were never given a cup for our drinks. We waited...and waited...and waited. No food either. Finally my boyfriend jumps up and asks for our cups. The lady gives him the stink face, looks at the receipt and says "well I only charged you for one. If you want another you will have to wait in line." Then goes back to what she's doing. Ummmm well what about the drink we paid for? As I'm sitting in the booth a worker comes out and says ma'am. Are you waiting for something? I tell her what we ordered and she says oh yeah it's up there. I'm looking like well when were you guys going to tell us. Then they hand us a bag with our food. But we ordered for here. Guess they didn't here that just like they didn't here us order 2 drinks. My boyfriend was livid. Meanwhile another lady is getting upset because they have ran out of food in the midst of putting it in a container. They offer her another side instead but say they will have to charge her for the first container that they did not fill. How can you charge someone extra because you all ran out food. In the midst of all this another worker is arguing with another guy about them messing up his order. It's clear that if you are having issues with 3 of the five customers waiting, that the issue is clearly you.
