Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

This place is VERY good. They have high top tables where you can pour your own beer by the ounce and while I was eating dinner there was someone walking around with a margarita cart where they make you the BEST (no I'm not kidding- BEST) margarita you will EVER HAVE right in front of you (get the mid grade tequila or higher). The food was delicious and the portions were ample. 4 stars solely because it's not technically authentic Mexican food, but I would definitely go back if I was in the area.

Definitely the best Mexican restaurant in Cumming! The tacos are out of this world and there's like 20 different kinds. You get chips and salsa out first and it's homemade! The high tops have drafts at the table where you can pour your own beer. The atmosphere is perfect for family and friends. Plenty of tv's for a sporting event!

Cheeky is the first restaurant to ever refuse to serve me a medium rare steak. I usually order their Tipico Salad with Steak (medium rare) when we eat there and I have ordered it no less than 30 times. However, last week when we were there I was told I could not order the steak less than medium because "It does not look pretty on the plate". Apparently this is the same for their tacos as well. After receiving my salad it was apparent that they are now pre-cooking the steak - hence the reason medium rare is not possible. The steak was served well done and barely warm. I do not see us eating at Cheeky much in the future if they are going to give lame excuses for being lazy in their kitchen. Anyone who regularly eats medium rare or rare steak thinks that well done steak looks ugly on their plate. We tried Cheeky the first night they opened and really liked it. We were regular customers for quite some time. We were even happier when the restaurant hired a chef. During that time they had a special menu that was always different and excellent. Once Cheeky became part of the Taco Mac family the chef was gone and they have steadily been slipping ever since. This last visit was the steak issue was the last straw for us.

My boyfriend and I ate at Cheeky tonight with a couple of friends. We loved it! We started out with a friendly waitress who was helpful in margarita selection (I got the Cadillac, one of their more popular options, it was delicious) and Randy tried the taps at the table, one of the cooler things about this stop. Select booths have beer taps at the table that charge you by the pour, allowing you to have a half beer, to try just an ounce or two, or to do a full beer of around 3-4 options. The food was delicious. I had the three taco selection, with a fish (AMAZING), crab cake taco (Very Good), and a steak taco (Pretty good). My boyfriend had the stuffed pepper, which was spicy, but delicious. The waitress was helpful in our selections, but gave us plenty of time to enjoy our food and company, and plenty of space when we needed it. All in all, our trip to Cheeky's was a great experience, and we can't wait to go back!

So overrated and overpriced.... Look past the pour your own beer gimmick and look at what this place really is... Food - small, tiny portions of bland texmex food . Even chains like La Cazuela or La Parilla are far better quality, and if you take the time to find a real, authentic mexican restarant you can find much, much better. Try Taco Mexico across the street from Movies 400 in Cumming instead, you will be amazed. Beer - OK, I like the pour my own, but at these prices I could be at TacoMac or Summits where they have 100's of choices. At a Mexican restaurant, shouldn't they offer you huge Dos Equis draughts for $4 a quart, not $5 a pint?
(1)Kevin S.
Best Mexican food around! Wide reasonably priced menu with gourmet preparations. You can't go wrong here unless it's too many margaritas.
(4)Josh A.
I struggled with what to rate this place. On one hand, their queso with pickled japs and their cuban sandwich are outstanding. On the other hand, the shrimp and spinach quesadilla I had the other night was disgusting, dripping with grease, and tasted like dirty laundry smells... The queso was delicious as usual, and my wife loved her cuban, but my quest to try something new was a failure. I will stick to the cuban next time.
(3)David K.
I love the "pour your own beer" concept but it's very buggy (and by buggy I mean I drink faster than it likes me to). The atmosphere is great, very lively and a bit loud (in a good, happy hour way) and the servers are very...ummm...nice, rawwrrr ;) Me and three of my buddies were drinking on my dime and we had to call the shift manager over every 10 minutes to unlock my card to let us keep pouring (they promised a "fix" for this issue and were very pleasant about helping us out but it was annoying to have the shift manager as the 5th in our group). Snacks are good ol bar grub and the food is consistently good if you choose to grab dinner. I really enjoy the table top taps at the Peachtree Industrial location as well if you're in the sit-n-sip mood.

OK, sure I might be selling out rating Cheeky a 5 since Jose Hevia, the owner, is a client of mine. So, sue me. I am sticking with my story. It is definitely more than a three, however, which is what it is rated as of this writing. This place is in the nice Cousins development called "The Avenue" in Forsyth across from Barnes & Noble. Jose is an experienced industry guy from the Taco Mac group and has a great concept here. First, they have a "pourhouse" where you can try a bunch of different draft beers and you pay by the volume you pour, ie, drink. You get a card and it measures your pours as you go. So you can sample many different flavors. Also, many tables have a tap at the table where you can pour your own beers as you go. Very cool. The food I have tried is really good. I love the alambres, which is char-grilled steak tips with tortillas, kind of like a big boy version of fajitas. The buffalo chicken taco and the fish taco are excellent. Also, the nachos came heaping with beef. I hate it when you order nachos and there are 4 molecules of meat among the chips. The staff was friendly and helpful, and this place runs as smoothly as a good Taco Mac. It is definitely worth checking out.
(5)Ahsan J.
Went there after a movie with friends. Ordered a mix of tacos. for a chain, the food was fresh and tasty. it's a sports bar setting, so a great place to go with friends if you're in a mood for Mexican.
(3)Jennifer W.
It's a given. I'm gonna love any restaurant that offers table options that include draft beer taps within reach. You heard that right, friends! Several tables offer beer taps at the tables for faster self-serving drunkeness. I've been to Cheeky on several occasions, mostly for birthday celebrations. The guacamole is some of the best I've had at a chain restaurant--this coming from someone who hates avocados. And the tres leches dessert is luxurious as a birthday cake. The quesadilla and tacos are on the upper end of average for me. So, I'm a fan. I'll be back for more.

Location numero dos for this aspiring franchise in the burbs. This place opened yesterday. That didn't stop them from asking us "Is this your first time here?" Duh? You can tell when a new manager over-trains his staff. Some might be put off by this. They were friendly, perhaps overly so. Yes, my meal is fine. Thanks for asking for the um-teenth time. But I didn't mind it so much. It helped that most of the wait staff were pleasing on the eyes. Like many new concept restaurants in the burbs, this place has a contrived feel to it. I'll do a little word association to help you get it... Jim and Nicks is to homely-looking BBQ joint as Cheeky is to a taco shack. Got it? They have fake garage doors. The menus are printed on wood. Yes, wood. Just kinda silly. But unlike many otherwise ubiquitous Mexican restaurants that put "taqueria" in the name, Cheeky actually features the tacos on the menu. Imagine that! So for lunch today I ordered a three taco combo for ten bucks. Even though the tacos were small, they packed a lot of flavor and texture that I enjoyed. The sliced pork was probably my favorite. It had contrasting flavors of spice mixed with sweetness from pineapple. The shrimp taco was similar and also delicious. Last I tried the crabcake, which was really just a deep fried little crab croquette. This is supposed to be a featured item but it was a distant third favorite. The chips and salsa are pretty good, with a lot of heat in the salsa. Tasted freshly made. The beans and rice were so so. The refried beans were more of a soup consistency. The bar looked pretty cool. They have beer taps at table side. A meter tracks how much you pour, and a TV compares your consumption to others in the bar. Could be dangerous if you're competitive in nature. All in all, this place was pretty good. Certainly not your run of the mill Mexican place. If you can get past the contrived feel of the decor, and the almost aggressively friendly staff, then you'd probably like it too.

I'm a little late on posting this, however better late than never. Last Sunday 10/23 was the first and last time I will dine here. They say first impressions are the most important, and I don't think I could have had a worse first impression. My fiancé and I sat at the bar, that was staffed with 3 bartenders...and only half occupied. However, we waited over 9 min on someone just to notice us. You might think that's not a long time, but with 3 ppl and not even a full bar OR restaurant, it was sad. Once we got the rude bartender's attention and kindly requested for her to wipe the bar down bc it was dirty, she found it more important to carry on about another 7 min conversation with one of the other bartenders before wiping down the space in front of us. I don't want to rewrite the novel I wrote to the mgr, however needless to say the food wasn't worth the service. I didn't even think I would write anything until the gentleman beside us spoke up and stated that the bartenders were like this all the time. Save your patience and get better food, go to Marlows.
(1)Melanie M.
Tacos are quite good here. Service is sometimes a bit slow, but nothing out of the ordinary.
(4)Julie S.
We've been back here a few times, a couple on our own, and a couple of times meeting friends or family. Unfortunately they seem to have lost the passion and attention to detail they had when they first opened. Their fajitas were mostly a bed of barely cooked green peppers and a few onions. Too little meat, and hardly any of the sizzling charred flavor you expect in a fajita dish. And the charro beans and refried beans are flavorless and similarly too soupy for my taste. I'd probably have only given them 2 stars, but one extra star for the really sweet waitress.
(3)Sean M.
It was Awesome to get a table with the Beer taps. Makes for a very interesting drinking experience. Appetizers are top notch... Meals are on par with other comparable establishments.. Service is a little "green" but will get better. My wife and I were there for their first Friday night. Not a place for family's with young kids during peak times. Prices are very reasonable.. We look forward to going back!
(4)Jim R.
We experienced our 3rd poor food and service experience in a row. It seems the quality of the food went down when they decided to reduce their portion sizes. The Cuban sandwich bread was so tough you couldn't bite through it. When sent back they forgot the replacement order three times. We left without some of our party eating dinner. The margaritas which use to be good have been diluted. Managers do not understand service recovery and wait staff is not properly trained to handle the issues that are arising frequently in the kitchen. Given the myriad of quality mid scale Mexican restaurants in the area I would recommend taking this one off your list.
(1)Kimmy G.
Love the atmosphere and how friendly the staff is. Great place to grab some food and drink some beers with friends. Prices are very reasonable and the food is great! I always order their guacamole, chicken taquitos, and several different tacos.
(4)Nancy W.
Love their fish tacos. It's very difficult to find a taqueria that does them well - these are pretty darn reliable.
(4)Mitch L.
This place is BAD! Both the food and service suck. Don't come here unless you want to wait too long for BAD food. We are eating now, most were served 5 minutes ago, one of us still waiting...and we did not send anything back.
(1)Tracy W.
My husband and I did the a la carte tacos. Nice variety and reasonably priced (and great that you can get them by themselves without rice/etc if you don't want that). It'd be nice if they got a little more creative (how about an Asian style taco?) but it made for a nice light meal, ideal for a summer lunch or dinner. Kids meals were the usual Mexican restaurant fare and prices around here. Would be nice if they were a buck cheaper or so, but it is what it is.
(4)Angela D.
Upon walking in the door the service was really good. However aside from the chips and salsa the food was pretty much inedible. Between the four entrees at the table the chicken chimichangas were OK at best. I am sure this place is still open because of the location... but we definitely won't be going back.

Best Tacos around period. I was in a group of five and the restaurant was fairly crowded, but we were still swiftly seated and our waiter was over before we knew it to take our drink orders. I had a coke the others were drinking sweet tea. He had drinks out swiftly. There coke machine was done at the time but he brought me a water and had a coke out to me as soon as the soda machine was running again. We had a queso with jalepenos in it as an appetizer and it was very good. Full of flavor and thick enough to cling to the chips without being so thick to break them. Everyone at the table ordered taco trios. I had mine with a fish taco, steak taco, and the black and blue taco (steak and blue cheese crumbles). All the tacos were excellent with the fish taco stealing the show. I've had many fish taco's, but none of them even come close to Cheeky's. Our waiter was excellent. Our drinks chips and salsa never got empty the entire time we were there. The only thing keeping me from rating 5 stars is the fact that as good as there tacos are there rice and beans are dissapointing. Neither the rice or beans had much flavor and being paired with such exceptional tacos calls attention to just how underwhelming they were.
(4)E E.
Have gone there twice to give it another shot but my opinion hasn't changed; overpriced, americanized tex-mex... PEOPLE, just because its spicy doesn't mean great flavor. I could never undersand why it's so crowded on wknds with such a limited menu. That either shows the lack of tastebuds of the local patrons or lack of options. It could be for the beer. I'd rather drive to Norcross any day for more authentic flavors and better service regardless of appearances and minus the fifteen plus flat screens. On my most recent visit, my ten year old ordered their fish tacos. The young ignorant staff could've warned me... It was Spicy Hot! What child could ever eat this? I returned it and ended up getting him your (yawn) all american burger and made sure this didnt end up HOT as well but to say the fries were salty would be an understatement. Yep... Cheeky can definitely kiss mine!
(1)Dennis M.
We ate at Cheeky's on a Sunday at lunch time. We were seated immediately. Service was fairly fast and the food was served hot. Food was above standard for chains but less than the best tacos/Mex I've had.
(3)Christine K.
Aaaaaaaaand... The booze is back and the people are happy! The joint was packed last night and we had to wait an hour for a table. Totally worth it. Try the chicken taquitos; they're darned tasty.
(4)Deborah C.
I'm only giving Cheeky 3 stars because it has some great pluses and some great minuses so I guess it kind of equals out. So depending on what you like you might go for 5 or 1 stars... first, the wait is awful and there is no "waiting area" at all but a narrow hallway in front of the restrooms with some gaming machines in the way. I wouldn't mind a wait if they took reservations but they don't at all so that's what annoys me. If they took reservations then I would understand a wait if you failed to call, but the only way you can get in is to go there and wait the hour and a half wait time that they have on Friday or Saturday nights. The food is decent (but I don't believe it's worth THAT long of a wait) So onto the food...I would say the fajitas are excellent...that is pretty much what I always order because I know they are good and I'm not about to "test" out any more mexican food in the south since it just really isn't that good overall. the fajitas are plenty to split between two people (just order extra tortillas) and at $15 for the chicken and steak, you really can't go wrong. between that, some drinks and the chips & salsa you are definitely full. As for the service, we've found it's hit or miss. everyone is friendly but slow... it takes forever to get a drink and they do have the self-serve option, but to find someone to get you a card to use it can take a long while and then when you are ready to close out even longer. I'd give it 5 stars if it was for atmosphere alone to watch a game - that's where I think Cheeky shines. It's loud, exciting, and full of televisions for a big sporting event. So when we are looking for that, we go there - we know we can watch a game and eat/drink for a fairly reasonable price...but if we want a quieter meal where we don't have to wait over an hour just to get a seat and wait longer to get drinks and service then we go somewhere else.
(3)Courtney W.
What a forgettable meal! The restaurant itself is nice enough. There are about 100 TVs. Apparently there are tables with beer taps which sounds fun if you like beer. The waitress was less than helpful with questions about the menu. She didn't know what charros were and didn't offer to find out. Then she confessed she didn't even like Mexican food so she didn't know what was good. Doug W and I each got the taco trio. My 3 tacos were southern fried chicken, fish and BLT. The tacos were fine but not so amazing to bring me back in the door. My rice tasted like Uncle Ben made it. My charros (which is whole pinto bean with onions and porks) were not worth eating. Our dining companions got a plate of tacos (sans the worthless rice and beans) and enchiladas. The enchiladas were ordered with the cheese sauce on the side. The waitress didn't quite understand what my friend wanted so everything came on the side. The enchiladas were therefore a build-your-own meal. Plenty of other god places to get taco around Cumming. For TVs and beer, this could be the right option for you.
(2)Susan W.
Very tasty tacos and tex mex food. Usually crowded and a long wait.
(3)Sonnenschein T.
Great experience! We arrived at 745 pm on a Friday, so we had to wait an hour for a table. I ordered Chicken Taquitos from the appetizer menu. Yummy with lots of flavor. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The prices are very reasonable. I'll definitely go there again.
(4)Karie L.
The food here is delicious, The Service at this location has always been sub par. We usually go here 1-2 times a month at least Ive been in the restaurant industry for 9 Years. And I have a good amount of patience for servers. But It always seems like the servers at this location are way over sat and always in the weeds. The hostesses are too busy flirting, and little attention is paid to the tables, We have to ask for silverware, napkins, refills on drinks and chips etc. 3 of the past 4 times we have gone we order guac. and cheese dip. the guac never makes it to the table, but is always on the bill.. and we have to point it out to get it taken off.. The one shinning employee Ive had serve us from here ( and i regret not getting her name) but she was amazing. She like usual was over sat, and hectic, but kept the drinks full. the table clean and always took a minute to check and see how we were. Brought to go containers, extra salsa and chips. was just incredible. It was also the Sunday, and they were alot slower then usual. Overall.. If you want deeeelicious food, and have some time to kill... this is a good place to go..
(3)Daniel S.
The alambres and chicken Flauta's are awesome! The bartenders are always friendly. I always sit with Logan, Leanne, Camille, or Eric.
(5)Tracey L.
Only place to get a margarita and Mexican appetizers after 10 pm on a weeknight in Cumming. Open til 1am, I imagine a lot of servers come here after their shifts.
(3)Terri C.
We always try to give a place a second and sometimes a 3rd chance. Went back today after a few visits recently. They had changed the menu and had gotten rid of the veggie fajitas. Not a problem said the server, I can get them to make it for you. Great I thought. So when I get my bill for my fajitas ( onions, mushrooms, and zucchini) the cost is $13.00 the same as the meat option. I try not to be a cheap person but I thought this was kind of a bit too much. Called over the manager who explained that prices went up when they did the new menu. He was not very kind about it but did lower the price but told me that they would not do it again. There are tons of Mexican places in the area with much better food that I will now make a practice of visiting. I usually love mexican food because of the many veg choices however this place does not seem to value their vegetarian guests.
(1)Nick R.
This place blows. The food just isn't that good. The last time I was in, was a lunch for our group at work. It took literally an hour to get our food. The explanation was "well we had a lot of other parties for lunch." We were one of those parties... The server was almost refusing to get a manager and acted like we were joking when we asked for one and blew it off like nothing. Ask for a manager, she comes out with our bill.... no manager? They have a cool idea with the pour your own beer gimmick, an ipod touch is at the table and counts your pours. I've been there at an after work get together. Even then, the food seemed to be not worth it and the beer a little pricey when it comes down to it. Especially when serving yourself. I most likely wont be coming back. Everything tastes like it's from a can.
(1)Doug S.
Food was good but the table taps are lame and foamy
(2)Annie D.
Tried this today on a whim. It was surprisingly good! I would order the Taco Trio again because they have a good selection of tacos. The service was very good. It is located convenient to the bookstore and the movie theater.
(4)Jennifer R.
We were visiting friends in the area and ate here before we headed out to the airport. The service was friendly but the food was just okay. I'm from San Diego so I didn't expect good Mexican food in Georgia. It is food for the masses so it does the job. I had the spinach enchiladas and they were okay. I would suggest that they change the orientation of their long tables so that servers can access each of the diners instead of expecting the person sitting at the end to pass food and drinks down to the person sitting at the end near the window. It makes for an awkward experience.
(3)Jason D.
Just have to share my experience trying something new on the Menu at Cheeky. I was so happy to try the Shrimp & Spinach Quesadilla. It was both tasty and filling and will be my order choice for the near term.
(4)Rhonda M.
First time visiting Cheeky Taqueria and the food was delicious! I ordered the steak and chicken fajitas. Great char-grilled flavor and the guac was some of the best I've had in some time. They add jalapenos and it kicks it up a bit. Drinks..OMG..I ordered a Texas Margarita and I had to ask for more sweet and sour mix because it was SO STRONG! Anyone who knows me knows that it's normally just the opposite, I'm asking for more liquor. So, they will give 5 stars off the drinks alone. My girlfriend ordered the peach margarita and loved hers as well. This location is great because it's located in The Collection at Forsyth. So get your shopping on and finish it off with drinks and food at Cheeky's. Tips: Very nice outdoor patio Plenty of tv's Cool for groups Will definitely be visiting again and if you're looking for good Mexican I would recommend them.
(5)Melody B.
Awesome dragon berry mojito! The guacamole and cream base verde salsa were tasty too.
(3)K L.
I've been here many times. It seems to get lower and lower upon each visit. The good: SALSA The bad: in last 3 visits I've had to send back skinny margaritas as they were missing syrup! Also, place always feels grimy. Food is hit or miss. Salads are not so great but the tacos are usually pretty good.
(2)Curt A.
I give it 2 tamales! Table for 2 for lunch $30 with tip and one beer. Wont be back, too noisy, you gotta shout to have a decent conversation; no decor, the interior looks like marlowes, its nice but "taqueria"? i dont think so, definitely not mexican festive, and the food was split good and bad, my queso burger was ok, my buddy's steak salad was way off; service was very good, very attentive.
(2)Kevin Y.
Came here on a tip from fellow yelper Jamie. Good guaq, got the Cuban sandwich and the taco trio. The sandwich was really tasty and true to Cuban Tacos were presented well and had a good choice. Service from Brittney was fantastic while we started to watch the World Cup on one the many TVs - Nearly one per table. Great sports bar. Chips were kinda normal and salsa was par but enjoyed it. Can get loud- especial with your 80 yr old mom but will certainly go back when in the area. Beer was cold and bar tables had their own taps- but all were empty telling me the serve yourself may not have been the best deal but can't comment. Liked it either way.
(4)Kenny C.
Not bad at all. I got the steak burrito with French fries in it. Pretty good but I'll try something else next time. Great chips, friendly staff, love the menu - a few things you don't find at most other Mexican places like crab cakes and calamari. And french fries in burritos. I'll be back to explore it more.
(3)Elle C.
A friend of mine says the following about the consequences of eating at Cheeky: "You'll try to burn down the other Mexican piece of crap joint you currently eat at." I'm maybe not quite as enthusiastic as he is about Cheeky, but I'll be back for sure. Solid food. Good chips and salsa. Yummy.
(4)David G.
Love Cheeky - especially the chicken enchiladas! If you get queso, be sure to add the chorizo, it's amazing
(5)Amy S.
A group of us went to celebrate a friend. He wanted a fish taco and Cheeky delivered. We all were very impressed by the tacos. A favorite at our table was the Sweet Chili Fish taco, recommended by our server. It really was such a flavorful and delicious taco! It can come as a lettuce wrap if you ask for it. For dessert, the churros were perfection. Not so much the hot chocolate dipping sauce, but you don't need it because the churros are warm and the recipe is just the way a churro should be (and one I've been looking all around the area for!)
(5)Heather S.
Let's start with the positives- cool atmosphere and concept with the beer taps at the bar tables. Negatives: ordered - Tapico Salad- lettuce ratio to other items was a bit overwhelming. Chicken needed seasoning. - Taco Trio w/ rice and beans: came out cold and w/o the beans, tacos had no flavor and the beans well I've had better out of a can. - Kids Taco and fries: Taco has so much grease from the meat the plate was Orange and the taco shell turned soft before a bite was taken. Needless to say child wouldn't eat it. French fries were yummy probably because they were frozen crinkle cut. First and last trip to this restaurant.
(2)Jason D.
It was awesome! We went here twice while in Cumming for Christmas. The Tortilla Soup and White Cheese Dip is amazing!! The tacos are really good to. Highly recommend!! The staff was super friendly, helpful and fast. Great Sweet Tea :) Will for sure be back
(4)Anthony D.
I like this place, The tacos are always good, and cheap too. Service in my experience has always been fine, and it is just a good place to go with the family or friends.
(3)RG D.
After 3 visits in 2 weeks I am ready to call this place INCONSISTENT. First visit great food, good service menu and specials were explained. 2nd visit average service, though my order was wrong, it was corrected. Still tasted great. Third visit felt like an inconvenience. Had to ask for chips and salsa. Though I order the same items from my second visit, quality and quantity was lacking. Though I had no fries, found them in my charros. Drink was not as good, mix was missing something and so was the lime.....had to ask for one. Saddly customers were being ignored. .. except the girlfriends that were there to see the manager and bartenders. They have a great concept someone just needs to manage the execution.
(2)David A.
Best cheese dip in town. Also, try the kitchen sink in a wrap. Camille recommended the wrap one evening and it's totally better that way!
(5)Trevor W.
This place was so much better when it opened a few years ago. Cheeky's has the ability to really create a niche for itself. One of the few tap-in-table restaurants in the South, they have 6 large dedicated tap tables with 4 taps each. Plus, with the card you can access all the taps up at the designated tap area on a pay per ounce basis. Sounds awesome, right? Combine that with unique takes on tacos and burritos and you should have an absolute hit of a Mexican Sports Bar. I mean it has a large space, added large patio seating in the past year, and all the makings of a standout. But it isn't... Managers have turned over and the taps are buggy. The past few times we've gotten more foam than beer in the pours. They also don't switch out the kegs when they go dry. Servers have always been young, but recently very inattentive. This used to be the place we brought clients and friends after work. Now we think twice. Food has also fallen a bit. Used to be the taco combinations were mouth wateringly good. Now, what reads as gourmet comes out overcooked or oversauced. We tried the avocado hush puppies and found them to be the size of whoppers candy and hard as a rock. Not happenin. Potential, this place has so much of it. It's in a great shopping plaza with so much traffic. Crossing my fingers they make a comeback, or we won't.

I've been MANY times. I love to hangout here. Obviously, the taps at your table is cool. I feel like anytime I order a beer I sometimes just want about half a beer more, because you've gotta drive home. Here you have that option. It's wonderful. Never had bad service. When it's nice out they will open the giant windows and creates and even better atmosphere. Love their tacos too. Something about their buffalo chicken tacos always keeps me coming back. I think I've had one mojito there before. Delish. I think if I had to improve something at this restaurant is when they are busy, mind you, they are clearly busy, I've had a server or two before take a while to get back to us. But then again, they are busy, can they really help it?

One of my fave spots to go near by. It's not typical mexican which I like. Lots of tvs if you love sports. Chips and salsa are good, fajitas good, and the taco trio gives you variety of options.

food was good, staff was nice and hey, not a lot of places open that late, so we better keep it going!!! ;)

Great spot! Awesome aervice. Wife had the tacos and I had the cuban. Fun place if I would have been drinking. Taps on the bar tables what a great idea. App was good too hush puppies with guac. Plenty of TV'S . Good place to watch games.

Pretty good place. The only thing that keeps me for giving them a 4-5 is they keep the spice to kick it up in the back. You have to ask for it. The food is great for a franchise. Service was quick and they have allot to chose from. Hope they do well.

Cheeky has some really good food and drinks. The salsa is great, and I love the jalapeno puree. We usually end up here when the kitchen has moved to appetizers only, so we up with something fried and bank on the delicious cheese dip. There bartenders are always money, throwing around a good mixed drink here and there, and people can test their luck pouring their own beer from the table tops. They restaurant used to be amazing, although it seems like it has taken a step back after the original owners sold it. Still a good establishment.

Always good....$10 is great for 3 tacos and 2 sides. The Mole is always great and has a nice kick. Staff is generally good as well.

I have to say, I am super disappointed in Cheeky's as of late. When it first opened, it was amazing but every time we go, it gets worse and worse, especially the last two times. Tonight, the food was mushy and the steak in my burrito tasted almost burnt. If I am going to pay higher than average prices for Mexican, it better be worth it. Even more disappointing was the 71 food code score I noticed as we were walking out. The upside is the service has always been great.

Have visited this location 3 times now. Not impressed all 3 times with the last visit being the worst. Yesterday they seated us at a set of 3 small tables joined together. We were a party of 3. They only bothered to clean 2 of the 3 tables. The third joined table still had leftovers from the pervious party. Not a great start. The hostess did not bother to check on the tables readiness at all. Me and my wife ordered the assorted tacos. Absolutely the worst tacos ever. Either the ingredients had no flavor or the tacos were slathered with sauce. Passing on this restaurant indefinitely. There are a dozen Mexican restaurants in the area with much better food. The beer is also overpriced. The server was the only saving grace of the entire dining experience...prompt and attentive. Skip this place.

Menu is great, the draft tables are sweet, although I'd love Samuel Adams on tap. Service is friendly, and snappy. Although at lunch when it's packed food does take a while to get. Overall it's a favorite lunch hang.

We love this place. It gets really busy though and there is usually a wait. The food is really good and they kitchen put orders out really quickly. Out of the 10+ times we have eaten here only once we had an issue with the rice being hard; other than that we have never had a bad experience.

Outstanding tacos and sandwiches. A huge tap and bottle beer selection at very reasonable prices. If you want better than bar food and the best place to see a game north of Atlanta, come here!

Bad, bad food, with a tolerable shopping center atmosphere that bumps it up to 1.5. Queso was the consistency of water, and about as flavorful. Fajitas were sanitized for the least common palate. The steak in the fajitas was chewy and unseasoned. At least the chips are plentiful, and the margaritas are tasty. But overall, only if you're stuck in the area and can't make it down to real food, in Atlanta.

I have no idea why this restaurant is always busy. After eating here twice with poor experiences, I will not be coming back. Our server Julie was friendly but the food was terrible. I ordered the Calitos Burrito which on the menu boasted a burrito full of yummy things. Once delivered. I received a burrito room-temp, drippy, and lacking half of the ingredients promised. I hoped that the "good stuff" was in the middle of the burrito but nothing was to be found but cold, sad rice. I wish I had saved the time and money by going to Moe's or Chipotle for a better, warmer burrito.

The calamari here is a *must*. The staff is friendly, the patio is great. Granted, anything pairs well with a delicious margarita and man does Cheeky have those!

I was reluctant to try Cheeky based on several so-so experiences with chain Mexican places in the Atlanta metro area, but this place blew my preconceived notions to smithereens. The atmosphere has all the makings of a sports bar when you walk in, but not so much of a Mexican vibe. Cheeky gives every table their own plasma screen TV, hovering at a 45-degree angle over your heads with every possible sporting event being televised somewhere in the restaurant. This would be a cool place to come with friend to watch a particular game, or the guys on football Sunday. For starters, let me just say that at any Mexican restaurant the first impression is always via the chips and salsa and Cheeky's chips and salsa are the real deal. Chips with heft and crunch and full of corn flavor are what they put on your table. Salsa that is freshly made, slightly sweet with a kick that burns so good the longer it sits on your tongue. I was really excited about how amazing this first course was, and we hadn't even ordered anything yet. We paired the salsa with the queso dip and it too, was delicious. Like other places in the area, they used the queso blanco with butter which is really good when you mix it with Cheeky's salsa. We ordered a taco trio with the BLT, Southern Fried Chicken and the Gringo. All of these tacos were outstanding and incredibly delicious. When I first saw the menu, I thought "Oh, they're just trying to copy Tin Lizzy." But nope, they actually delivered the goods with a new twist and excellent quality. In addition to the tacos, we got the Chicken Empanadas, which were also amazing. They come in this flaky pillow of a pastry shell (think croissant texture) and are filled with chicken, bacon and melted cheese goodness. Yum! We were not just tempted by the food alone, as the margarita menu was quite imaginative as well. I ordered the "Spike" which is a cactus margarita and it really treated my taste buds to some great flavors with a tequila kick on the tail end of each sip. After we paid for our meal, we noticed a girl pushing around a margarita cart. We couldn't resist, so we had her make us one for dessert. This is a really cool touch to watch them make you a margarita table-side. It too, was really tasty. I'm now officially a huge fan of Cheeky and know that whenever I get my Mexican cravings, this place will now be in our regular rotation.

Meh. I've experienced better is EXACTLY right. Positive: TV's everywhere. Beer taps on tables (some of them - not nearly enough), good location. Negatives: Food is really so-so. Not even "as good" as the other 3 billion tex-mex places around - just so-so. It's expensive, and the service is horrible. Our waitress took everyone's order (8 of us) and skipped one of the people in our party. 40 minutes later, food arrives and she asks what the person who was left out is waiting for. WTF? Anyway- food is nothing to write home about, TVs everywhere is well - anywhere, and you can certainly get better service. Miss this one - you won't be missing out on anything.

The atmosphere is great! It has a great vibe to it. Unfortunately, the surroundings were the best thing. Our service was really lacking. It took the server quite a while to greet our table. He was slow refilling drinks and didn't check on our food until we were almost finished. We did enjoy the salsa. We ordered the guacamole and it was not very good. My husband and I both got the three taco plate. I thought the shrimp and crab cake taco was decent. The steak taco was dry and had little flavor. We are hoping with more time this restaurant will get better. It is nice to have another choice to eat at the Avenue shopping center.

It was a crowded Sunday afternoon, Green Bay vs Chicago occupied the big screens and I occupied a seat at the bar. Heck I may as well have been invisible...and after about 5 minutes I was. The wait staff is a bunch of inattentative high-schoolers. Two stars because the service is lacking.

The place is so-so. We came Saturday night and it was crowded and loud. I think this place is trendy and that is it. The prices are around $10 for a meal. Not crazy about their chips (I'm a tortilla chip snob) but the salsa is good. Try different ones for 50 cents each. Food is decent and it came quickly. I got the spinach and shrimp quesadilla. The order looked like a half order. The shrimp enchilada was okay. The shrimp are cut up, not whole. Chicken taco didn't have enough chicken. The steak taco was dry. If you are at the theater, try it after. It will make for a nice ending to the evening due to the large beer selection and drinks. I don't think I will be coming back though.

I normally get a variety of tacos when we visit. The food is decent. Nothing to really get excited about. The atmosphere is cool. It is located in the Avenues at Forsyth which has tons of shopping stores. The beers were good, the water with lemon was great :)
