Make sure you order the Brussel Sprout appetizer...our server (who was quite good and experienced) called them "legendary" which was absolutely correct.....flash fried then roasted with bacon and maple syrup....amazing!! The rest of the meal was good....the band in the bar sounded good but was distracting during a nice meal...

This is such an amazing find in Cumming. Chef Todd and bartender Matt cannot do enough for you. Order the pork chop you will be truly amazed, I have dined at 5 star restaurants frequently this pork chop will knock your socks off. Amazing panzanella salad, ahi tuna I can go on an on, do not miss this place. Sit in the bar, or the patio you will love it

My wife and I make this a weekly stop. Normally we sit at the bar where the service is outstanding. The food is always delicious! Whatever your mood you can find something you'll enjoy. The 1/2 price wine night (Wed) is a huge hit with my wife... I'd rather go 1/2 price drafts (Thurs) but a happy wife is a happy life:-))

Although the food is really good (I recommend the chef's charcuterie board for an appetizer and any seafood dish for an entree), we ran into a problem last weekend. We live in the neighborhood, and looked up openings on open table. Since it was showing every 15 minutes available, we headed down without making a reservation. However, when we arrived, and waited for the host/hostess for about 5 minutes (they are never at the front, btw), we were told there would be a 25-minute wait. I looked it up on open table again, it was 8:05, and it was showing 8:15 available for a reservation. We thought the way this was managed was obnoxious, turned around and went to Cinco's next door, where we were seated right away. Okay, the food at Cinco's is not as good as Branchwater, but they have to do something about the service at Branchwater if they want to keep regular customers. We are regulars, and we have encountered other problems with the service. Once we requested to be seated outside, and since nobody else sat outside, we were forgotten about several times during that visit.

This is a very good restaurant! If you like Ruth Cris, Rays, etc, this is just one half star below a place like that. The atmosphere is comparable but the menu is not as extensive. For a little less price though, you get the same quality aged steak, chef made veggies etc included. I have had better meals that cost more and the cheap steak like Longhorn (never again). The don't offer a choice of veggies or potatoes for example but what is included for me as always been good! Their appetizers are great (yes you have to try the brussel sprouts!). They have great chef made burgers too, very good seafood, and the such. I have had one bad meal there out of 20 so far and it was on a night when they were swamped busy. I've had a bad meal at Ruth Cris and Ray's though too. If you want cheap steak, go to Longhorn or Outback. If you want a great steak or Ribeye, this is very good. We eat here about twice a month since the day it opened and as others concur, it is always good, service is 99 percent of the time very good. If you go on a crazy day like every restaurant, it will be slower but we've never experienced that. The place is very clean, a nice atmosphere with a good high end meal and drink. You will enjoy it!

Steaks (ribeye) were perfect! Seasoned just right and grilled to proper temperature. Service was excellent and dining area has cozy atmosphere. Calamari was tasty and wine was delicious. This was our first visit, but will be returning soon. Great place for a quiet dinner for two. Nice place to stay and dine in Cumming, without the drive to Atlanta.

So first let me tell you that the review from Andrea R below is almost totally a fabrication. I was there that night (and 3 nights earlier when she came in, wearing the same clothes, and accused them of having her credit card from the rooftop bar- they don't have a rooftop bar and didn't have her credit card). Anyway, the risotto she's referring to with scallops are delicious. The risotto is cooked perfectly. Risotto should not be a sticky mushy mess Furthermore, rather than complain immediately (which any complaints at Branchwater are handled VERY PROFESSIONALLY AND IN FAVOR OF THE CUSTOMER, always!) she went ahead and ate the large beautiful diver scallops and then was upset when they wouldn't take the whole thing off of the bill. They even offered to just charge for the scallops. She was also not interested in a new risotto at this point. So she appeared to be highly intoxicated and after making a scene, her first date she was with proclaimed while leaving that this was definitely their last date. He was a nice guy and clearly embarrassed. As soon as she got home she started calling, yelling at the poor host and anyone who would get on the phone. She even threatened the classic "do you know who I am, I will ruin you". At that point yes, her constant and harassing phone calls were hung up Branchwater and chef Todd are the pinnacle of professionalism and the food is amazing. I eat there 3+ nights per week. Treat yourself to a night at Branchwater and see for yourself!

Really disappointed that the overall experience here wasn't better. The food was fine, but for $30/plate (without alcohol) you really want to have a superior overall experience. We walked away thinking "it was good, but really not great". A couple of things that went into my rating: 1. When we arrived we were asked if we wanted to sit in the bar even though we had an OpenTable reservation. We asked to be seated in the dining room though, and that's where we were seated. 2. The entry to this restaurant needs to be revamped. It's the same as it has been since the place was opened years ago as a neighborhood pub. You walk practically into the bar area and the black/white tile floor and dark wood paneling look dated and not very nice. The entry could use a refresh to make it feel more like a mid/upper-scale restaurant. More like the dining room which is very nice. 3. I told the server that I was on a low fat/low sodium diet and asked for the grouper, grilled simple and a double portion of asparagus. The grouper had been grilled in a pan obviously in butter. The asparagus had a lot of butter/oil and salt on it. My plate was pretty well swimming in oil. It tasted good, but probably wasn't great for my diet. 4. My wife ordered the grilled chicken with wild rice and mushrooms. It tasted fine, but really tasted like something that she makes at home. I realized it's just grilled chicken, but it was a pretty underwhelming dish. I so wanted this restaurant to be better. Cumming has a plague of chain restaurants and I like supporting the independent chef.

"Chef" needs to NOT argue with the customers. Stopped in for a glass of wine and a bit to eat. Ordered the buffalo wing appetizer. Nothing special. It was served with blue cheese slaw that was underwhelming and not cold. Then ordered the scallops w/ risotto. The risotto was under cooked (still crunchy) and almost tasted like the $1 rice mix you can get in a bag at Publix. Then, I found a plastic bristle on a scallop. I pointed both of these out to the bartender. She took the plate and brought back a new entree. Risotto was still under cooked. I asked to speak to a manager. "Chef" came out and said he would take the risotto off the bill, but still charge for the scallops because I ate them. He continued to tell me that nobody has EVER complained about the risotto. WHAT? He said it wasn't his fault a bristle from the basting brush was in the food. I was still upset about this when I got home. I called the restaurant and asked to speak to "chef" again. He hung up on me. Needless to say...HORRIBLE customer service. Will never return. "Chef" is an arrogant piece of work and nobody should have to deal with someone like that.

First time visiting and chose to try it out after reading the menu and what a great neighborhood find! The decor is very classic with dark colors. Seating very comfortable. We ordered the chartruderie plate and Brussel sprouts which was delicious! We continued with filet and lobster tail combo and ribeye. Both cooked to perfection with great seasoning. Finished off the night with the homemade banana cream pie. Great food, high quality products, chef that really loves to cook and worth the money spent. The waitress was prompt and knowledgeable. Informed us that they have live music on Friday and Saturday, so we will def be back to try the burger :)

Great food and fun place to go on the weekends. Usually get seated very fast. My favorite place in the area.

Was visiting town and looking for an upscale place to eat. We stumbled across this restaurant and glad we did. The appetizers were amazing especially the crispy roasted Brussels sprouts. The best I have ever had! The fried lobster and filet was excellent as well. I will definitely be making this place a destination stop on my travels to Cumming, GA. The owner/ executive Chef/ Todd stopped by our table to greet us and thank us for coming in. What a peasant surprise!

We come here once a week for the "burgers in the bar" menu. There is a special steak burger that changes each week or so, that is always outstanding. It has house ground ribeye and a couple other of steaks in there that I can't remember. Occasionally it will also have a wagyu cut in it as well. Always a solid good burger, one of the best in the area for sure! This last visit I tried the salmon BLT and it was awesome! The salmon was cooked perfectly and the dill cheddar was an outstanding addition to the sandwich. The fries are house made, as is the ketchup. The buns are not house made but they are good. You can tell Chef Todd cares about his food and his customers. He usually makes his rounds in the dining room checking on everyone's food/service. Chef Todd is doing it right at Branchwater. A weekly stop for us!

3 stars - no more. Oddly enough, I've reviewed this place before but somehow my review seems to have disappeared...not sure how that happened. Regardless, I remember the experiences we've had. I have friends who really like this place and talk about how much they've enjoyed it. To me that says they must have really enjoyed the company they were with because the food is just OK. I will say the atmosphere is nice and the area needed someplace within better driving proximity with an upscale and more sophisticated feel. So while the ambiance at Branchwater provides an increased measure of sophistication compared to other area establishments, the food fell short of expectations. Having tried the pork chops, salmon and scallops I will say the scallops were the biggest disappointment since they were not even cooked through. Sent them back and when they returned they were steaming in the middle. I asked our waitress if they put them in the microwave and she went to check (bad sign), she came back and said they put them in the convection oven...hmmmmm....but they're supposed to be seared. BTW - I don't have a convection oven but some friends do and theirs has a microwave setting. Salmon was OK, as were the chops. Nothing special. Wine prices were OK as well. We may go back yet again, on another night when we feel like paying more and driving less.

My husband and I dine at Branchwater with some consistency. We've had outstanding experiences and some that were less good. More good than not. The waitstaff can be hit or miss. The wine list is light on wines by the glass. Bottles (you can cork and go) provide a wider (and more costly) selection. The food is consistently delicious. Chef Todd is very open to suggestions and criticism should that be the case. If you don't have a stellar experience he does his best to rectify any issues. I recommend dining here, the food is worth it, as long as you can wait a bit...

Our group had a mixed experience. While the decor and service were both very good, the food was mixed. That being said, nothing was "bad"...just average. I had the fried chicken and biscuit and the chicken breast was boneless (as I had hoped), but was pounded too thin. The breading, while tasty, was overwhelming. The green beans were cooked perfectly and the biscuit was good, as well. The gravy on top of the chicken was kind of sweet and the portion was tiny. As a starter, I ordered the chopped salad which was in no way chopped when it came. Again, it was good, just not what was described. Others in our party ordered fried calamari and fried oysters and both were overly greasy. My husband ordered the grilled grouper and it was good. My mother in law ordered the fried shrimp and jalapeño slaw and she didn't have any complaints. The coleslaw was very good. For the price, it was a decent meal. Who knows if they were a little off that night (although they didn't seem to be exceptionally busy)? I'd definitely give it another go. We don't have enough nice restaurants like this in the area and I'd like to see them succeed. The atmosphere is lovely and rustic and the noise level was ok until a large party was seated right next to us. I glanced at the bar on the way out and it looked nice. I ordered a Moscow Mule before dinner and it was perfect! I'd recommend giving it a try and forming your own opinion. I'll definitely give it another go.

Somewhat of a disappointment since the food and wine here are rather pricey. The wine was expensive but not impressive and the food was only so-so. It is atmospheric though, but that's not enough to pull me back.

  • Gary L.

The atmosphere was nice but loud as we were first sat at the bar. We asked to be moved and they accommodated. The food was tasty but the beef tenderloin came out undercooked. We will give it another try in the future

Clearly no money has gone into the decor as it is the same as it's been the last two times this restaurant changed hands. It is very unfortunate to watch table after table that came in after you get served while you wait 40 minutes to get a $12 chicken Caesar salad. Only to realize that the portion is something off of a children's menu. Unfortunately I'll have to wait till it changes ownership again to give it another try. I recommend a frozen pizza save yourself the money.

Won't be back. Perhaps I'm spoiled since I eat out a lot at 5 star establishments. Very hard to find anything good to say. Appetizer of lobster chips - which is potato chips with a runny lobster dip had a hair in it, was taken off the bill and they apologized. It was 77 degrees in the dining room according to their thermostat ( extremely uncomfortable) my husband and I were dining alone with no children, arrived at 5when they opened and they sat a party of 6 with young children right next to us ( a foot away) when the whole establishment was empty. The tables do not have salt/ pepper on them, both mine and my husbands food was under seasoned and the server never checked on us until we had finished eating. My husband had the Crispy duck that was bland and dry - could have been chicken. I had the twin lobster tails, mashed potatoes and asparagus - nothing special under seasoned . This establishment is located in a development with houses and young families. Lots of young children, noise and very casual dress for a $$$ establishment. Not a romantic or foodie place.

Finally! An impressive seafood menu in Cumming! Extensive choices of fresh fish and entrees as well. Don't miss the beer cheese and pretzel starters!! Yummmmy! Service is quick but blah. However, the food makes up for what the servers lack in personality and skills (clearing courses, refilling drinks). Suitable for families, dates, casual dinners and very pescatarian friendly menu with tons of choices!!!

This was our first time to this restaurant and we really enjoyed it. While it did take a while for our food to come out our server was very attentive and we were not in a hurry so it didn't really bother us. The food was amazing. I tried the burger of the day which was wonderful and my husband had the ribeye that was excellent. The duck must have been popular because that was what my daughter ordered however they had run out. It was very easy to make reservations through open table and when we arrived early they already had our table ready. Highly recommend giving this place a try.

I like the restaurant, but last two times the service is seriously lacking. Our waiter walked away from our table while we were discussing the wine list, almost in the middle of a sentence. When I asked him why he replied... " I have 4 tables and someone was flagging me down.". So, our table is not important to you ? That will reflect in your tip. We will think twice before we go back.

I find myself wishing that there was a 2.5 star option for the rating of Branchwater. The food was very good with fair pricing and reasonable portions. Alone, it rates 4-stars. The service, however, rates 1.5 stars to which only the food allowed me to provide 2 in total. The restaurant is in southern Cumming with comparable Roswell/Alpharetta alternatives nearby. As such, a decision to eat here should be based solely on the food and convenience. So, what's wrong with the service? Well, my wife and I ventured in for a 7pm Friday evening celebration of my birthday. We were greeted by an under-dressed hostess, while another hostess and a male server who appeared to be unoccupied stood nearby. Lead to our table, the server from the front arrived to fill my wife's glass with water before later returning to apologize and also fill mine. Proceeding to take our drink order he noted that they had ten local craft beers on tap which are rotated. Apparently this is done too frequently as to warrant a printed list. Of those offered, while the selection was fine, they recognizably lacked any offering from the craft brewery with which they neighbor. Returning with our drinks, the server proceeded to flame lemon rind into my wife's drink and recount how he was proud to have learned the trick from a Michael Jackson book (not the singer). Interesting. As my wife then proceeded to order her medium cooked steak, the server went on to agree that this was the perfect temperature. My ensuing order of a medium rare steak, of course, warranted no such compliment. Ok, so nothing too bad, so far. Right? Assessing things up to this point, we understood our server as being interesting, liking my wife, and a bit full of himself. No harm done. Given the weather, I found a need to walk back to the front for sufficient cell phone signal as to pre-purchase our after dinner movie tickets. There, I found both hostesses and our server again standing around. He went on to regale the hostesses that he had heard that the perfect form of government was a benevolent dictatorship and likened the restaurant's management structure to such. Our dinner was then served by another staff member. When my lobster tail arrived without any butter, I was able to make the request only as our server hurriedly rushed past our table. We were not asked how we liked our meal or if we needed anything at any time during the dinner. After we finished, our server asked if we wanted dessert. When we responded that we did not, he proceeded to drop off our check, take my credit card, and return the check/card without a single word spoken. For a restaurant that is in a competitive situation, even in its immediate vicinity, one would expect more attentive service which expressed concern for and interest in its patrons. Instead, at Branchwater, it appears that one can only expect a pretentious, lackluster dining experience. At least the food's good....

Very impressed. Service and food was fantastic. Very glad to have a place like this in this area. Chef came to our table and spent a few minutes with us. Steaks were perfectly cooked. Sides and salads were great as well. Definitely will be back.

Food is creative and well done. Music selection - not well thought through. Shouldn't be left to high schoolers

Very good food and experience dining here. It is more of an adult atmosphere in my opinion, but families are welcome. It's great to have a nicer date night restaurant in Cumming, finally. The pretzel and beer cheese appetizer is a fun change for the regular boring appetizers you find on 95% of other restaurant menus.

Chef Todd (of Indigo) has done it again!! Great food, especially the Ahi Tuna & The Salmon. Great staff & service. Our first visit, we came in late after a show, but the service and food were still EXCELLENT!!! Will be back often.

  • Cy P.

Good food and good service. The food prices were a little too high IMO. However the drink prices were ridiculous! A glass of a middle of the road cab was $12?? The bottle cost $12 at Publix. It makes me feel gauged. If they got their prices in line, I would eat there regularly. As it stands, I likely won't go back.

Happen to see this restaurant when in Vickery Village last week and decided to try it. I was pleasantly surprised! We sat at the bar where we prefer. The owner/chef came out and introduced himself, nice touch. Service by the bartender was good and the food was delicious. The wine prices seem a bit high for what they are offering but We will definitely try it again.

My wife and I ate here and it was a mixed bag. We were first ushered to the crowded bar section but asked if we could sit in the restaurant and they accommodated. We had reservations so it was a bit odd that we were directed to the bar section upon arrival. Anyhow, once we sat down we were greeted by a young waiter who asked for our drink order. My wife inquired about an "oaky Chardonnay" but the waiter said "I'm not 21 yet so I will need to check with the bar. ". We then Googled the wines since it took a while for the waiter to come back and he came back recommending a non oaky Chardonnay. Not a good start and the bartender obviously steered him wrong. We proceeded to order our drinks and appetizers and the appetizers came well before the drinks. We finished our apps as the drinks arrived. I had asked for olives in my cocktail and none came. Fine but another slip up. My drink was also not made as requested (dirty). The waiter was a bit absentee so I needed to walk to the bar and request olives and olive juice. Oh well. I ordered the salmon sandwich with "spicy honey mustard" yet the sandwich was lathered with some type of mayo aoli not resembling any kind of mustard I have ever seen. The waiter said "the chef has been trying to make it less spicy so that's why it is more like mayo". I then asked for a side of the true mustard and got the same mayo. Oddly enough, my wife asked for a side of the tartar sauce for her shrimp dish and it was the same as my mayo? What bothered me most was I asked for an alternative side to the french fries that came with my salmon sandwich to which I received a response from the waiter "any substitutions are a $2 change fee". For a vegetable over a french fry? For real? The food is actually good at this restaurant. Brussel sprout app was great. But a few minor gaps are preventing this restaurant from blossoming to greater things. 3 stars for now. Service and process was 1 star. Not for lack of nice people. Just inexperienced staff and poor execution.

Great Menu, Atmosphere. Servers are always pleasant . Salads are always fresh with plenty of vegetables. I'm a sucker for the surf n turf and Branchwater Burger. I will be back for sure!

This place won't last long. So, the good first: the food was very tasty and there was a good variety on the menu. However, although our server tried hard, she didn't know the menu nor the specials and three times had to go ask the chef or the bartender to find the answers to our questions. The price is way out of line given the service and overall experience. Two people, one of us didn't drink, was $120.00. I think the last time I went to Bones it was the same price with far more quality of food, service and atmosphere. Not going back.

  • Charlie B.

I was so excited to hear a bourbon and steak place was opening in the neighborhood. Very over priced for what you get. Food is okay but not for the price. Service is lacking. Burger specials seem to be the only positive but a last ditch effort to keep the doors open. Bar is weak. I went back several time just 'wanting' it to be better. Now I go to the place across the parking lot.

Nice atmosphere, relaxing. Great staff/bartenders Wine selection OK Ordered Rib-eye r-mr. when it came to table i thought "oh-ohhh" they way over cooked it. Lots of bark/grill marks. cut in to the steak, perfection! Good flavor. Try the Calamari - really nice presentation, great flavors! Nice addition to the north side dinning experience. We'll be back no doubt.

I live very near to Branchwater and I have frequented the Resturant about 5 times now. Location is great, part of the bustling scene in Vickery Village. The atmosphere and overall feel of the bar and Resturant is superb. Menu is planned well and offers a nice selection. Appetizers are interesting and can make make a nice small plate night if you want to try multiple items without having a formal entree. Bar could become a nice craft cocktail place if they hired the right talent. Decent drinks now a bit on the expensive side however. I feel they would get more customers to stay after dinner and hang out in the bar if they lowered the cocktail prices a bit on the weekends. They do have drink specials during the week which make it affordable. Service has been hit or miss, but lately it appears they have made a effort to see that service is appropriate, you can tell they are trying to make that aspect consistent. Owner/chef is very approachable and each time has come to our table. Mostly food has been good, a few times great. Brussels Sprout appetizer is great. The homemade bacon is awesome. Steaks are consistent and fish is normally prepared well. It is kid friendly as well and has great outside seating. This place could be something really special, I just do not feel it had found its groove yet. We will keep going and exploring their specials.

We love Branchwater! Great for date night, girls night out (half priced wine on Wednesday and Tuesday Martini night), or burgers on the patio (or bar) with the family on Sunday night(Sunday-Thursday) . Chef Todd always comes to check on our meal and let us know about specials and upcoming menu changes. Bartenders are always attentive and knowledgable. Hope they are here to stay in the neighborhood!

So I've wanted to love this place cuz it's close to home and a higher end restaurant. So far it's been kind of vanilla to me. Not bad by any means but nothing special and needs some love. The drinks have been good and the 1/2 off wine night on Wednesdays was a great start down the right path. Now they are doing burgers in the bar sun-thur and tonight I tried one. We had the horseradish cheddar burger and it was super good! Moist and tasty and the fries were great too! We also had the beer cheese and pretzels which I liked as well. I really want them to do well so hopefully they will keep up the specials. They should have a special or theme every night to bring people in.

We've been waiting for a great restaurant in this location and were so excited when Branchwater opened. Unfortunately - we have been very disappointed. Tried it the first week open and there were some service issues, but the food was good. Tried it again about a month later, both service and food were poor. Gave it yet two more shots and now we won't go back. After 4 tries, we've never had good service and at least one dish had to be sent back. It's really too bad - because the location and ambiance is great. Please fix it Chef Todd - would love to see you succeed!

  • Greg R.

Very disappointed! Over-priced, average food, mainly ala carte, typical entrees $20+, sides $7+ and salads about $9. If you want horse radish or other sauce with your steak, there is an additional charge of $2 or more! And what's the deal with no salt and pepper shakers on the tables? Doesn't the chef trust customers to add their own seasoning? Fine dining prices but with linen table cloths covered with brown construction paper, served by wait staff in dungarees. And, no music for ambiance either. Lower your prices, serve entrees customers understand, and serve us promptly and you will survive. As is we will not return. We and our neighbors who live nearby had high hopes, but the chef owner totally missed the mark. Stay away and wait for the next restaurant that occupies the space.

Food was excellent! Service was a little slow, but to be somewhat expected as a new place gets up and running. Favorites were fried lobster tail, seared scallops, lobster mashed potatoes!
