Had a real nice dinner last night here. Small unassuming place. Food is very good. I had the Stuffed Flounder. Fish was slightly over cooked and stuck to the metal plate but flavor was excellent. Raw oysters were fantastic and beer was cold. Wife had peel n eat shrimp and they were outstanding. Salads were good. They also have a great Low Country Boil. Staff is seemingly always overwhelmed but very nice. Need someone to be responsible to greet incoming customers and let them know length of wait. Saw family of 4 leave. Nice place with good food.

If you are looking for a romantic and cozy atmosphere, this isn't the place. If you are looking for good seafood, generous helpings, at decent prices with nice people, cold beer and decent wine, this is for you. Always a good meal. Been here several times and will keep coming.

Fantastic Blackened Shrimp & Scallops..... generous portions, Fresh, Clean, excellent service. Casual & not fancy at all which is nice. Family atmosphere. Will definitely be back!

I love this place. Everything I've ever had here has been great, and the shrimp are exactly the way they should be. The staff is very friendly and the restrooms are clean.

Unless you have 2 & 1/2 hours to waste- don't stop here. The food is good but it most certainly does make up for the wait. Have tried it on multiple occasions- tired of giving them chances to improve the service.

The main course I ordered was the fried oysters, something I always like to try at seafood restaurants. Grumpy's was lightly battered and lightly fried and they were perfect. The quantity was good as well. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful but the wait time was a little on the long side. The time didn't bother me that much, though, since a small restaurant is bound to be affected a lot more by the ebb and flow of customer volume - just expect it. I'll definitely be back.

New owners for about 2 months. Stuffed flounder was excellent. Hush puppies were good. They recently started carrying sweet water beer. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Not impressed. Hardly seasoned small servings

New owners are the nicest folks! Food is absolutely delicious, service was terrific and the Key Lime Pie was outstanding! Run to Grumpy's.

My first visit tonight. Food was better than expected and service was pleasing. I will tell friends about it and I will go back!

A decent neighborhood café. If you're looking for a romantic dinner, this isn't the place. They DO offer decent seafood dinners with average pricing. Nice to have raw oysters available in Covington! The fried grouper was very tasty, blackened shrimp exceptional. The service on the friendly side. If I'd change anything, it'd be the seating. I like to eat in a little more intimate setting.

I had lunch here today with a friend. I ordered the shrimp basket with onion rings and hush puppies. The shrimp was okay. The hushpuppies were okay. The onion rings were okay. The food was fresh. My only complaint is that the food is BLAND. They need to really start adding seasoning to the batter. I agree with the other reviewer. I have been to seafood restaurants that are far superior to this location, but for Covington I guess decent seafood and not stellar seafood is OKAY.

We have been eating at Freeman's since the day they opened, and have always had excellent, fresh food, super service. We have been there with kids and with older folks and everyone loves it. The egg rolls are one of our favorites and the grouper is the best ever. Hush puppies are like what my Mama used to make, and that's a good thing.

Great gumbo and grouper!! My wife's crab stew was excellent as well. Not a lot of fish camp ambience in this small friendly place, but the food and service make up for it!! Beer was cold as well.

Took my family.. we had grouper fillets, fried Shrimp, shrimp &grits and a cheeseburger... all the food was excellent! Service could have been just a little more attentive since there were only 2 parties in the restaurant. We will go back for sure.

As a new resident of Covington, I have been trying the local restaurants and had heard from several people about a seafood place they liked along with vague descriptions about where it was located. After several failed attempts I found it and am very glad I was successful. I with a plate of oysters on the half shell. They were ice cold and as fresh as I have ever had; they quivered when hit with the lemon juice. I finished with blackened catfish with hush puppies, grilled zucchini, and ratatouille. The catfish and hush puppies were great; the zucchini was worth the visit by itself; the ratatouille was rather bland and appeared to lack any eggplant (at least I couldn't detect any ask for a double order of the zucchini and skip it. They do not have much of a wine selection. When I was there just a house white and a house red. They do have a good beer selection, but a nice crisp white wine would have been perfect with the oysters.

We have been several times and I really like the fried shrimp basket. The shrimp are large and aren't over cooked which makes me very happy. The hush puppies are a little different and I was pleasantly surprised. Staff is very friendly and helpful and the place is always very clean! We will be back soon!

The restaurant has good seafood for Covington but being from Maryland and living in Florida I have gotten used to better. Its a smallish location with no ambiance. There is small bar and couple of televisions. The owner and the servers are friendly. The portion sizes are huge. Even without an appetizer you will not go away hungry. They have a limited selection of wine and beer with great prices. We tried the fried seafood appetizer to start. We thought it was good way to get a taste of their preparation. It has 5 shrimp, 4 oyster and 3 scallops. All were fried perfectly but the seasoning was little bland. We tried to get the attention of the server to get more horseradish to spice up the cocktail sauce but could not do so before the food started getting cold. The scallops had a great flavor but the batter was falling off of them. Another member of our party had the raw oysters. They were fresh and had excellent flavor. One of our party had the stuffed flounder. The stuffing was good but the fish didn't seem taste as good as flounder normally will taste. The shrimp in grits are unusual. The shrimp are lightly battered and fried. They have a great flavor. The sauce was not very rich and was further diminished by the grits that were very bland with no seasoning other than salt. The last member of our group had the soft shell crabs. It was well batter, crisply fried and moist on the inside.

Have eaten here a few times and it is always good. Great for lunch with quick service and fairly priced food. Fish tacos with mango pico de gallo was just right. I usually find fish tacos with fried fish, but had them here with grilled and they were perfect.

We went there again this year tonight during our annual visit to the Atlanta area for the Tour Championship (golf). Once again the food was delightful. Didn't really want a full meal so had the crab soup (bowl--was huge, took some back to the hotel). We also had the grouper basket and the seafood eggrolls--the eggrolls were especially tasty both with and without the sauce they came with. The only negative I noticed was that the plastic holders for the menus could be wiped more carefully, some small residue on mine.
