Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Good Mexican food. Probably the best around Cornelia/Clarkesville. Still my favorite is in Athens. The chips and salsa are really good. The decor is nice. It's always busy. Wait staff is attentive. My favorite dish is the molcajete. Haven't had a bad meal here yet. But nor have I had a stellar one. I'll continue to go that's for sure.

I continue my Georgia tour of local spots in Cornelia. We ordered the food for take out since they where no longer delivering at the time we called. The food was great we all loved our plates. Man the chips and Queso where officially the best I've tried. The food was all 100% correct as ordered. Staff that i encountered where friendly and very quick with my order. The person that took the order was also very attentive and got everything we wanted. Overall great mexican style food.

Not bad. Good sized portions, typical fair. Could be more flavorful and spicy, but they may be trying to serve the needs of the local populace.

Not really sure why they changed the menu for lunch. The new lunch menu is VERY limited, not even listing one salad on it but yet they have 5 egg plates. Not sure where the main manager has gone but since he has left El Patron is not even close to the same in service, food, or quality in the experience. Really sad. And I see this as I drive by 3 times a week. The parking lot used to be packed at lunch, UPS, police cars, but no longer. If they would bring back the original menu and service it would be worth visiting again but not until then as there are MANY other Mexican food experiences available in this area. This is my opinion only and through my own experience.

I ordered a burrito for lunch, the burrito was the size of a taco. Needless to say, Was disappointed by the size, and the flavor was nothing to brag about either.

Very good, little quaint restaurant. To begin, and some of the reason I am giving this place 4 stars rather than 5, is because we the host didn't show us our table. He pointed to it, and made us guess where we'd be seated. I ordered the corona Rita. It was delicious!! Also, it was relatively inexpensive. The complementary chips they give you were good. They were baked not fried!! I was disappointed in the guacamole, we had an allergy at our table, so the wait staff said they'd make the guacamole fresh. They did, but instead of a creamy guacamole, they gave a choppy avocado salad. I got the cinco supremo, it was great. I wished they had just given me more sour cream.there was little sour cream on the dish. The quesadillas were also delicious!

El Patron is a local, family owned restaurant. The service is fantastic and the food even better!!

This restaurant is one of my go to spots to watch anything sports when I'm in the area. They have a ton of nice tv's and an okay drink menu. This place would probably get 5 stars since the food is always good and service is blazing fast but I've had a few hiccups here and there with forgotten food items and frozen beer. I would never complain about a cooled beer mug but my mug was literally so cold it froze the top half inch when I poured from the pitcher. I've never had the pleasure or displeasure of drinking down dos Equis ice cubes but it was weird. Guess I shouldn't complain though it's all the same poison. I mentioned this in the tips but figured I would put it out there again.. If you bring an empty container here you can fill it up with salsa! I filled a half gallon container for $4. Now I just need to find out if I can also buy their chips.

I'm just passing thru Cornelia and stopped on a whim. Not that there's plenty of variety around, but that's unimportant. The service is great. I was sat immediately and had an ice cold beer before I got my seat warm. The food was delivered scary fast. Almost too fast. The food itself was great as well. Salsa was above average, guacamole was subpar and the fajitas were on point. A little greasy but ridiculously delicious. I will definitely come back and wouldn't hesitate recommending this place. Oh yeah, I ordered a Pacifico cerveza and was given it in a frozen glass with a salt rim. When in Rome I guess. It was stellar!

Dinner for 6, we arrived on a Wednesday night with a $15.00 off coupon from Restaurants.com in hand. We were greeted and seated in no time at all. The chips and salsa arrived moments after we were seated. We started with Margaritas, which were delicious. Our orders were placed and in no time, and I mean no time at all our meals arrived. My fajitas were some of the best that I've ever had, the burritos were packed with meat and those dining on them gave a huge thumbs up. If I'm in the area again looking for Mexican food, I'd stop back in.

This has become our "Go To" restaurant for Tex-Mex style food. Portions are large, the food is tasty, and they even sneak an occasional Mexico-style dish onto the menu or specials board. Molcajete. Try it, you'll like it. Tortas ... what Latinos would replace the hamburger with if they owned McDonalds. It's ALL Good!

I apologize for the late post. Hopefully things are better now. About a year ago we made a reservation for dinner after having eaten there twice before. The food had been very good, had the carnas asiitas (sp?) and the service was great. Then on our third try we called and made a reservation because it was a Friday or Saturday night and we knew they would be busy. We arrived and talked to a young girl who was hostessing and told her we had a reservation. She acknowledged us and we sat down to wait. After about 20 minutes I approached her again and asked her when we would be seated. She told me that they didn't have a reservation for us and that they would seat us when they could. it was terribly rude and inept service. We left without having dinner. Recommend you make reservations and get the name of the person making the reservation so you can reference it when you go. The hostesses are very young and untrained. Otherwise it's a great place.

Excellent food but very poor service. We waited about ten minutes to place a drink order while six employees were just standing around. It took another 30 minutes to get our meal which came out piecemeal. There is gross lack of leadership. Again I say that the food was excellent but management has a problem.

Food is Great! Service is hit or miss. If it is busy it takes forever to get a table. If you wait patiently you will see people seated that came in after you. No organization up front. That's my only complaint. They need a front end manager to get it straightened out. There drinks are great!!

The only reason El Patron gets a 3 in my book is the service. It was incredibly slow and our waiter took his time between visits. The food was actually very good and the drinks are spot on. Might have just been a bad visit, but that is the consistent knock I have heard from others as well.

When this restaurant opened it was great -- service, food, the whole package. But unfortunately it has truly declined in the interim. Last couple of visits service has been very slow, and food quality has definitely dropped. Hope they can fix it.

Pretty good Mexican food. Excellent staff. It was like a contest with them to see how fast they could bring me water, chips, salsa, etc. I had the carne asada. Very well prepared, great seasoning. Decent chips and salsa. The pico de gallo was a little heavy on the onion and a little light on the tomatoes.

My wife and I are from southern California and have moved from there living from in the northwest and south to southeast and we have missed AUTHENTIC and DELICIOUS Mexican food and this place delivered! Ordered the mocajete which was GINORMOUS and forced myself to eat this huge helping of seasoned perfectly grilled dish of beef, chicken, chorizo, grilled peppers, and REAL mexican cheese knowing that I had never and probably will never get mexican food as good as this unless I visit Mexico. I usually don't get dessert, especially after eating that much food for an entree, but I had to try knowing I may not get another chance. The fried ice cream was AWESOME. Albeit the ice cream was not freshly fried, the vanilla creaminess and sweet cinnamon and sugar was a nice treat. If the ice cream was freshly fried it would be slightly melted and would had made it that much more delicious.
