I had eaten at Cozumel a few times back when I lived much closer to the restaurant and it was excellent every time I had been. I decided to go here last week to try it out again because I hadn't been in around 4-5 years and I was craving mexican food that I knew wouldn't disappoint. I can honestly, without a doubt, say that I was not disappointed whatsoever. The food comes out very quickly and that does not at all take away from the quality of the food that they serve. The cheese dip was delicious, my carne asada tacos were the best I've had, and I even finished what my girlfriend had left of her combination dinner (number 15). I can not say anything bad about this place at all. The staff was hospitable. The food was delicious from the chips, salsa, and cheese dip to the drinks and our main course. They've even done some renovations to the bar area and it looks great. I most definitely will be making the drive to go back soon and would highly recommend.

Rather that write a review....here is the latest Restaurant Inspection score: 60-U a list of deficiencies with a tag: " -A follow-up inspection will be done within 10 days -This is the 2nd consecutive U on their routine inspection. Facility was closed to receive onsite training on the violations noted (cooling, separation and protection, adequate handwashing facilities accessible, etc). After the training was completed, the facility was re-opened. I did advise the Person in charge that if these violations continue and scores are not improved, permit could be denied." The restaurant got a 59-U in April this year as well. All the little things that shouldn't take place....a variety of raw foods stacked over other foods; foods that aren't being kept between the cooked temp and the correct storage temp; mold issue in the ice machine; dust on utensils and holders; etc.etc. Save yourselves by ALWAYS checking out the health card.

We've been going to Cozumel for about 3 years now and have never had a bad meal. The food is excellent, and no one can beat their margaritas!!!! The service has always been wonderful, and a few of the waiters always stop by our table and chat for awhile. I love this place and am sad we moved to Atlanta, since there's no comparison around. Despite the drive from Atlanta we keep coming back.

Tried to dine here for lunch today to check the place out. Another gentleman walked in just before I did. We both stood in the doorway for a solid 5 minutes. There were a few customers in the place but nobody at the front counter/cash register area. A waitress finally came out from the back after about 5 minutes. She checked on a table of already seated customers then looked right at me and the other fellow. She did not say a word to us nor acknowledge our existence, much less let us know someone would be with us shortly which is just plain common courtesy. At that point in time I asked the other gentleman that had walked in and was waiting there with me the entire time if he has come here before. His response was yes. I then asked if it was normal to not be seated, greeted or even acknowledged for this time frame. His answer was "yes, during the day this is very normal". That is about the time I said "I am out of here, please let them know that I left and will not be returning any time soon". He said "I got ya" and that was that. I cannot speak to their food but their service was horrible. I would have been ok had the waitress said even one word or even motioned to us in any way by the way. I guess if I ever have an extra hour or two for lunch I could always try to pop in again but I doubt I will. Not to mention I will never have an extra hour or two for lunch. I am sure you get the point.

The service and presentation of the restaurant is sub-par but the food makes up for it! I'm from San Antonio and I haven't found very many GOOD Mexican restaurants but this 1 here has NEVER let me down with their food!

Cozumel is definitely the place to go if you want mexican!!! The food is always hot and fresh and very good. My friends and I usually go here once a week or so because of how cheap they are. If you go during lunch time, be sure to check out their lunch specials. They are very affordable and delicious. Service is always very friendly. It doesn't get any better than Cozumel if you want mexican.

Our favorite Thursday night spot! We love the taco salads and carne asada burritos. I do miss $3 margaritas though. Always leave full, even if we share a plate

We arrived after 3pm on a Saturday afternoon and were told we can order from the lunch menu even though the menu states it stops at 3. Food arrived in a timely manner and was ok at best. The flour tortillas that were served wrapped in foil were stuck together, so I asked for a replacement. The waitress kept messing with her purse, and going back and forth to the kitchen. 5 minutes later I received corn tortillas. Upon flagging her down, she donned a scowl on her face like we were being a pain, then quickly brought a replacement of flour tortillas. One item was $5.50, the other was $5.75. We went to the register after still not receiving our tab and the bill was almost $15. We were told they add on 25% to the lunch menu, a story that was not told to us when we arrived. They would not show us the tab, and the person at the register was a jerk. No one smiles here, and you are viewed as you are bothering them. Since we had not patronized this place for over 5 years due to poor service the last time, we thought we would try it again. We will never return, and as people who are well known in the community, we will make sure we tell all of our friends not to patronize this place as well.

Try the chicken Paisano , it is so good, a complete meal plus extra tasty with shrimp rice, and steamed veggies. Yummy the flavor is awesome. And their chile poblano s are real chiles stuffed with cheese , like you get in Calif. restaurants. Excellent food. Their chicken soup is also excellent, the flavor is never wanting for anything .they need an updated menu online....

First off disregard the first guy. Cozumel is the best mexican restaurant i have ever been to. i have been going there my entire life and they have the fastest service of any place i have ever been to. They recently updated the menus and added many items everything i have ever gotten there was good especially anything with chicken and the hot wings. Very Underrated.

Cozumel is a pretty good Mexican restaurant with excellent food, but mediocre service. Everything on the menu has been created to perfection and comes out usually very quickly. The service has never been good here during the 8+ years I have been a customer. There are only several employees who can speak English well enough to understand, the rest only know single acknowledgement words and fragments. The atmosphere could be improved also, I get a "dirty" vibe when I'm inside. I would recommend ordering food for pickup and then eating it at home instead of bringing the family inside the place.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
