Mellow Mushroom is a busy place, at least on Saturdays. We went and sat around the bar, and had no problem getting waited on or seating. The bar seemed to be used for mostly game watching and people waiting for their take-out orders. The restaurant food must be well liked, because there were a lot of to-go orders in my opinion. As far as our service, there were two bartenders that did a great job checking on us throughout the meal, as well as offering drink suggestions. I recommend the Fat Tire beer on tap. The meal was also really good. I had the mystery tour pizza (pesto base with mushroom) and my friend had the buffalo chicken. Both were well made and had good taste. However, be prepared to wait. If you are looking for a quick meal, you will not find it here. Since we were watching the game mostly, it didn't matter. Overall, I am a fan of this Mellow Mushroom. It is the 6th I've been to, and one of my better memories of my meals there. I recommend it to anyone looking for some specialty pizza with time to wait.

This is the best MM I've been to. The quality is always good and consistent, and the pies are, in my opinion, delish. Plus, in a town where good servers are rare, theirs are generally very well trained and friendly. The decor was recently changed--a bit like Chuck E. Cheese now, so that is a bit of a turnoff, though. I liked the "groovier" decor before (sorry, MM!). Overall, good pie, good beer list, good service!

I feel like the service at the Hickory Mellow Mushroom is a bit hit or miss. I have eaten there several times, at both busy and slow times. I have never had a problem with my order during lunch (they are never too busy at this time) but I have had issues during a rush. The last time I went an entire person's order was not put into the system by our server. They were very apologetically when my party member's food did not arrive with ours, and ended up giving him his food complimentary. However instead of rushing his order, his was put at the end of the line so to speak. It was another 20-30 minutes before he received his sandwich. Personally I feel as though his order should have been rushed. As far as the food goes, I've never had a problem. It always tastes delicious and they have a variety of inventive pizzas that was lacking from the typical pick-up pizza chains that Hickory had to offer prior to Mellow Mushroom's opening.

I usually do not care about the appearance on staff but the 400 plus pound guy walking around in short shorts is to much....he makes you think if he doesn't care about looking presentable to the customers they probably don't care about the food

My favorite pizza place in Columbus, although admittedly there's not much competition. Definitely the best selection of craft beer on tap in town. Pizza is fresh and high-quality. Expect typically Southern (slow) service, but no one here has ever been rude or egregiously inattentive in the many times I've been here. A few people have complained about the ambiance/mood, but, really, what do you expect from a place called Mellow Mushroom? It's a hippie den. If you're looking for a casual place with good pizza, great beer, and great music, this is it. Also - many tasty vegetarian and gluten-free options.

Ok...I AM upgrading this to 3 stars. Their beer selection is too good and after eating there again last night the Magical Mystery Tour Pizza is too die for. Olive oil/Pesto Sauce, spinach, mozz & feta cheese, portabella shrooms. Damn good but the below does still follow.... On taste alone I would have given it 3 stars but the other factors are too bad to miss: 1. Top dollar pizza. I ordered a large specialty. A portabella mush app., and a beer. My total with a tip was almost $40.00. YUK! 2. The place was cramped and the bar tender was annoying and trying way to hard to be cool/liked. 3. Great beer selection! 4. The decor is cool and artistic but lacks originality. Good pizza.....but not that good $$$$.

Food is not that great for the price and the service was very slow. It was an hour wait to get seated then another hour to get food and it wasn't really that busy of a night. It was a Tuesday night. I've had been experiences at other Mellow Mushrooms.

Great pizza. Much better than some of these little places around here ThT just slop tomato sauce and cheese on dough and call it pizza!

Okay so I said Mediterranean Cafe was the best for Italian... I wasn't counting pizza (although MC does a good wood oven pizza). This is the best pizza place in town! If you want buffet all-you-can-eat, stay at CiCi's. But if you want some fresh (not under a warming light for hours) pizza with fresh toppings, you got to try out this pizza! They make the dough with spring water... and it makes a huge difference in how the crust tastes (you won't leave the crust behind on your plate). When you first walk in... you might wander what kind of stoner place you've walked into, but I guarantee you (whether it was inspired by stoner's or not) they make awesome pizza! I miss the old exterior that they had (it was a giant mushroom entrance), but the new one definitely spruces up the outside.

If you're looking for great pizza and a fun bar, this is a great place to come for a night out! The food is always excellent, there's a great selection of beers on tap, and there always seems to be a friendly crowd at the bar.

Great Pizza and unusual topping and combinations. I have eaten here quite often and I must say that the quality has dropped since it first opened but it is still a very good place to get pizza. Outstanding beer selection and they have Guinness on tap (always a plus!)

I had no idea so many things could be piled on top of a pizza. I mean, seriously. I love artichokes, but artichokes on pizza? Caesar salad on pizza? Avocado? Yes please. :D And with their "build-your-own ___" menu, you can custom order your favorites, or just get half and half. Yum. I love the decor. Very hippy-ish and colorful. Even the bathroom signs are cute. Seating is a little cramped, but that's not a biggie once you get the food. Bear in mind, Mellow Mushroom isn't for those watching their weight. I know I could only have so much of the salad pizza before feeling overly full, and while their pretzels are awesome, they're pretty saturated with oil. Not a big fan of the hoagies, but I guess you have to be in the mood for one of those. I'd recommend coming here with a group, because you are NOT gonna finish one of their pies alone.

There's really no better choice for pizza in Columbus. I've been to several Mellow Mushrooms (Asheville, NC, Orlando, FL and here in Columbus) and the one in Columbus isn't as nice inside as the others, but the pizza is just as good. Mellow Mushroom has a great choice of gourmet style pizza as well as regular pies. The gourmet pizzas are a bit pricey, but if you get a cheese or pepperoni the prices are just as good (or better) than one of the national delivery chains. A large pepperoni is about $16. My favorite gourmet is the buffalo chicken. The pizzas are made with quality ingredients are very tasty and filling. Mellow Mushroom has other items on their menu, but I've never ordered anything but pizza so I can't comment on them. Mellow Mushroom has a full service bar and one of the best beer selections in town. They have plenty of micro brews, including Fat Tire by New Belgium brewery in Fort Collins, CO. If you want good pizza, then this is place that you need to dine. I've tried many of the others in town and none of them even come close.

The pizza is above average and the best in Columbus. Typically the wait is pretty long though.

I usually like mellow mushroom restaurants but this location consistently makes the worst pizza ever. Last night I ordered their white pizza; it was over cooked and cold by the time I got it. The time before I ordered the cosmic karma, it was greasy and the Crust like rubber. I'm done ordering pizza from here!

I love Mellow Mushroom on Wednesday nights because of BINGO night and you actually win prizes, from $20 to free pitcher of beer, to free t-shirts. Their pizzas are the best on the menu and now they have a limited time offer menu, Home Grown Picks' and we tried the South of the Border pizza and it tastes fresh and light. They also have $1.00 wine specials and beer specials too. The hoagies are good and the staff is friendly and will work with substitutions if need be! Stop by on Wednesdays.

Best pizza in town hands down. They recently remodeled and the atmosphere is super cool! My favorite pizza is the Kosmic Karma but they offer salads and subs as well which all I have tried and loved. I just found out they offer $1 slices on Monday nights! They also do trivia on Tuesday nights and Bingo on Wednesday which my girlfriends and i have attended a lot because they offer $1 wine as well!

Went on a Sunday Night and it was packed. I knew this pizza must be good. Megan seated us. She was awesome. We had a medium sized pizza Half House special and Half Philosophers Pizza. I'm originally from Jersey and I know my pizza. This was it. This was that authentic, good to the last bite, love was put into the dough (not literally). Fresh ingredients, Flavored crust, great decor and good prices. Best pizza place in Columbus, Ga. I will be back!!

We went ahead and tried the Holy Shiitake Pie because of the icon on the menu (guessing it was one of their top pizzas). Now, it is a vegetarian pie... but it was AMAZING! Pizza was light with a olive oil and garlic base. It was topped with a variety of mushrooms (shiitake, portabello, & button) mozzarella cheese, caramelized onions and black truffle oil. It all paired so well with each other. The service was great with our party..very friendly. Will definitely be back!

EXCELLENT- period! Ok.. I travel for work.. I dine out most meals and i can say with certainty this is the best dining out experiences I have ever had. Service- outstanding, the food- fresh (try the spinach salad is the best)... (and that chicken bacon ham pepper pizza)... my complements to the Chef Cosper... the best pizza i have ever had!

Really not my kind of pizza place. As a native New Yorker, I am loyal to a specific type of pizza: thin crust, minimal toppings, a simplicity that emphasizes the quality and taste of the pizza. The fiance, on the other hand, was born in and spent a good deal of his childhood in Chicago. To him, the more toppings the better. He found Mellow Mushroom to be a treasure in Columbus where, admittedly, there are not many pizza restaurant options to begin with. Plus, he's a big beer drinker and I understand there is a very extensive beer menu here. So my tastes are a little biased because of where I'm from. We got the House Special, which was LOADED with meat. They threw in pretty much every meat topping they had and then some. I was so overwhelmed that while eating I started to pick off random things off of my pizza like peppers and olives in an effort to make a slightly plainer pizza. I did enjoy the crust, which was soft and sprinkled with Parmesan. And you do get a lot of food with your order. One might wonder why I did not get a plain Cheese pizza instead. I don't think the prices here would justify a plain pizza, especially when you can get a very decent cheese slice for $1 back in my 'hood, and a whole pie for $8.

What I am going to say is blasphemous for a Jersey Girl in Italian-restaurant-central to say. This is some of the best pizza I have ever had, and I don't even usually go for specialty pizza, let alone a chain restaurant with 1960s crazy pothead psychedelic murals on the walls. Service was great, food &ambience was awesome, price was fair, and I have been craving it ever since the one time I was in town to try it. A weird thing happened on the way out though.. There was a dying stickbug that somehow slid into my sandal as I walked out to my car. And since then, I have associated giant scary bugs violating my personal boundaries with Mellow Mushroom. Diners, fear not. I didn't see any evidence of anything but cleanliness INSIDE the restaurant. I wish I had a Mellow Mushroom near me. :( If you haven't tried this place yet, you're missing out.

The decor is off-putting and trippy, but what would one expect? We were seated and our order was taken promptly, but not without that attitude of "I don't want to be here today, I am inconvenienced that you were seated in my section." Somewhere between the cooks shouting our server's name (Sam), no one else getting seated, and Sam standing around talking to another coworker we figured our food was up and was just sitting. Eventually the cook called for a food runner and MIRACULOUSLY it was on our table less than 30 seconds later. The pizza was o.k., but not my favorite. The dough is wonderfully soft and chewy but the sauce and pesto combination was acidic enough to keep my mouth feeling raw for the rest of the day. A fantastic craft beer selection only goes so far. I wouldn't recommend it, but I would take it as a last resort

First and foremost the service was fantastic (thanks Brooke!) it was my first time at a mellow mushroom and surely will not be my last. Came in for lunch and had an excellent Bruschetta, Caesar Salad, and small Mellowterranean pizza. 5 stars for their food and service. Atmosphere is a quick serve pizza place. In and out in 30 minutes for a great lunch.

I have been to this Mellow Mushroom 3 times now and I have enjoyed every visit. The last two times I have been, Brooke has been our server. She is friendly, attentive, and just plain cool. Service is really the main reason we return to most places. My wife and I can never agree on pizza but MM let's you split it easy as can be. Substitution or changes? No problem. Great beer selection as well. Not sure why there are bad reviews, but this is a quality restaurant with quality people and you'll enjoy your time there. Thanks!

Horrible experience and offended with how avoiding the manager was during the whole experience. Even told my husband his pizza was in the oven. 15 mins later as the rest of the party is finished the manager has he server tell us the pizza was burned by accident. Wow. Just admit you and your tema are not synced and offer a truthful solution. Glass of water spilt on someone in the party, order came out at completely different times, and there were items that were never even entered as an order. We are fans of the Denton, TX location. Won't be back to this one.

Atmosphere nice but charges extra for vegan cheese!?!? No notice about extra charge before order either. Other mellow mushroom don't charge extra. It would've been fine if I'd been told about the extra charge when ordering or when I called ahead to ask about the vegan options. They did ask if it was an allergy and if food needed to be cooked separate.

Personally, I feel the food is a bit overpriced. It's definitely not bad, it's just definitely nothing special. The drinks were good though, I had a Shroom Tea and one I can't remember the name of (it was purple and tasted like adult grape kool-aid). My husband, friend, and I were there for my dad's birthday and ended up having the hummus we shared comped because they forgot it initially. I thought that was very kind of the waitress considering it wasn't her fault the kitchen didn't make it. Decent food, nice servers, VERY loud and packed on the weekend, and a bit overpriced but not horrible.

I love Mellow Mushroom but I will never return to this location. My wife I went last Saturday in hopes of good pizza and beer. After sitting at one of the high top bar tables and having both bartenders look at us then turn away, two of the wait staff walk by, and waiting for ten minutes without being acknowledged we walked out. In the past I've had the host hang up on me in the middle of a conversation when he could tell I would no longer book the party area due to size limitations. Also, the wait staff consistently looks unkempt and appears not bothered to be at work. Oh, the guy leaning on the host stand cursing while the other two hostesses talked and failed to greet us was a nice touch as well. Place needs new management in a desperate way. I'll be ordering Papa Johns from now on.

Food is still delicious but am not a fan of the renovation. My husband used to love to come here to watch sports games but now he has a hard time seeing a TV from the tables and I don't enjoy sitting at the bar. Enjoyed the old layout much better. Great service and lots of beer options.

While the pizza's not bad, it's not the best. And be warned that this is probably the least kid-friendly pizza place I've ever been to. Serving by the slice would be nice for those times you don't want to order a whole pie.

I came here with my family on vacation. I ordered the house calzone - WARNING: the portions are huge!!!! Everything we tried was flavorful, but could have used more oregano or garlic ( growing up Italian, I'm picky about my pizza). I definitely recommend it. Just keep in mind it takes longer than usual to get your order, so go with plenty of time!

Best beer selection in the area, which isn't sayin much. Yet, I am still surprised and more than contented tab the selection: Oaked Bastard, 60 Minute, Two Hearted, Dead Guy, and a rotating Clown Shoes of all breweries. Pizza is the foods to get, skip the rest. Hoagies are decent and the like, but this is a creative pie place so do it right. Buffalo is spot on with heat and flavor; def go with blue cheese, too. Thai Dye exemplifies Asian fusion with its chili sauce and cukes on board. Note: it's a heartier, chewier crust more like homemade than NY style. I'm not a pie purist, though, so that's fine by me. 4.5/5 on beer 4/5 on pizza 3/5 on other foods (hoagies, salads, etc) 3.5/5 on service (decent for the area and friendly)

I wouldn't have expected a chain featuring drug-related innuendo to be founded in Atlanta, and it seems even more out of place in Columbus, but there's not a lot of good pizza places in the city, so Mellow Mushroom sorta wins by default. I won't dwell too much on the pizza itself, because you can find the same product at any of their 120+ locations aside from mentioning that there's a lot of crust, the garlic and maybe onion powder they mix in with the cornmeal to dust the underside of the crust reminds me of Chex Mix, and the toppings, while fairly high-quality, are pretty over the top in terms of quantity. Staff-wise, they're about what you would expect from a restaurant entitled "Mellow Mushroom". It took the bartender a solid five minutes to notice I sat down, and that included two trips to the glass station right in front of me. Other trips revealed other staffers to be not nearly as aloof, though there's still that uncomfortably casual feeling that's a little off-putting. But the beer selection's good, so they got that going for them.

I have been to mellow mushroom a few times and never had any problems. Brandy was my waitress and she was very attentive and informed me of all there specials. I could see she was busy but gave me the best customer service! I have no complaints about any of the servers there actually. Always good atts. I love the selection of beer and speciality pizza! Monday night is dollar slice, Wednesday bingo and dollar wine!! And even on Fridays they will have a live band food and drink specials and stay open late. The fact that the have WiFi is a plus too, I go up there a few times a week have a few beers and did some work on my laptop. I love the laid back atmosphere, best pizza place in town!! I recommend the red skin potatoe, buffalo chicken or Maui wawie!

Came in here on Monday night after the rush and sat at the bar. There was a bartender in training who had waited on us before. She was able to talk about the craft beer which was nice, because most bartenders know nothing about craft beer. Had the steak and cheese hoagie and the house calzone. Fantastic as always. Great place to go for a nice meal. We like going during the week because it is very crowded on the weekends.

Went here on a Saturday night. Obvious wait but wasn't terrible(15 mins)and they sent us a text when our table was ready. Great pizza (the wife got funky q chicken and I got the Maui wowie) both were amazing and I'd highly recommend both. AMAZING beer selection and not too overpriced in that department

I stopped here a couple times and had good food and good service, so I invited some friends. The new male server with the mullet Mohawk gave us the worst service ever. He totally messed up our bill and it took over a half hour to straighten it out. It was still wrong and the manager didn't even come around to apologize, that was my last visit.

Friendly waitresses, tasty mini-calzone, reasonable prices and the children like it. What more can you ask for! The atmosphere is very comfortable, a little on the retro-side but that's a good thing in my opinion. I have wanted to sample some of their beer - they have a long list of choices that sound very tasty - however, I don't like the idea of paying five dollars or more without knowing if I'm going to like it or not. I wish there were some way to simply sample beer in small amounts for prices ranging no more than one dollar, but I suspect there must be some silly law or ordinance against that since this is Columbus, Georgia, but I can live with that for now.

The pizza was wonderful. My wife and I had a pizza and some beers. The craft beer was out of this world. We were both pleasantly surprised. However our server was not a breath of fresh air. I want to say her name was Sara. She wasn't friendly and seemed as if she was bothered or annoyed that she had to serve us. Will be back again but will request different server.

Dined here on Saturday afternoon with my husband. I had heard of the place from my hair stylist, and since we are new to the area, we're into checking out the local eateries. The food: We had the Mellowterranian (I give no promises that I spelled that right). It was like a chicken gyro on a crust, complete with tzakiki sauce for dipping, which I saved for the crust. The veggies were fresh and delicious, however, if we were to get that pizza again, I'd have them skip the chicken. It had a weird flavor to it that detracted from the rest of the flavors. The service: Our service seemed a little slow, but the waitress was incredibly polite, and my drink glass was never empty. Judging from the looks other patrons were giving her, they thought she was moving kind of slow as well! The ambience: The decor is weirdly hippy-like, but fun. There's a big fish tank that the kids were crowding around. It's a restaurant my mom would get a kick out of, and that's all right with me! In a nutshell: Good food, fun, reasonably priced eatery. I saw a sign for Trivia night on Wednesdays, I think it was, and I would love to check that out!

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Delicious pizza with lots of awesome, interesting recipes. Even a standard faire Hawaiian is awesome there.

Freaking awesome pizza! Fun atmosphere

This location was my very First Mellow Mushroom experience and I love Mellow Mushroom ever since. The service was awesome and it was kind of wired at first time but I love the atmosphere. I ordered Kosmic Karma and it was delicious.

Pizza is good. App (artichoke and spinach dip) wasn't so we sent it back but the server was nice about it. Good beer selection!

Accommodated our large party perfectly. Their food was standard for MM's which i tend to enjoy. A great spot for lunch! get the calzone and thank me later

Service was awesome. The beer selection was surprisingly good. Being new in town the bar tender was very helpful with answering any questions we he about he surrounding area.

My go to anytime I visit Columbus. Great food, beer and staff! Especially Mike Gordon.

(4)Christopher S.
Ive tried spin dip all over town and theirs is the best plus full bar and great pizza. A must if the pizza craving hits you.
(5)Scarlett R.
