Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Great authentic Mexican food. Carnitas are recommended and they come with a lot of food. Ask for the jalapeños and you get a great side dish to add to the carnitas.

This is what my pick-up lunch looked today . Went to the restaurant to clarify what happened and got only a shoulder shrugs

Pretty average mexican food. Good margaritas with an excellent selection of flavors. Food came out scary fast! Staff was quick and proficient

The employees were nice, but the food wasn't spectacular. The chips and salsa definitely tasted packaged, not homemade or fresh. I guess being from Texas I have higher expectations for Mexican and TexMex food. The fajita quesadillas were not very flavorful and neither were the enchiladas. Someone else in the restaurant ordered fajitas which smelled amazing! However, I don't think I'll be coming back.

Probably would have rated this about 3.5 stars, actually. Mainly because the salsa and chips were really good, and tasted exceptionally fresh. Service was good, food was alright. It was a clean restaurant. But I just wasn't all that impressed with the food. After reading the other reviews, I expected something spectacular and out of the norm for Mexican, but I just didn't find that here. The food was alright, really nothing special. A little under seasoned, I'd actually say. Decently priced for what you get. About $7 for an enchilada, burrito, and both rice and beans. There were a lot of options, however. Both a la carte, and with rice and beans. I generally get a full-sized meal so I can save some in my fridge for later, but I was pretty hungry when I ate here and ended up eating most of it.

The food here is as good as any other Mexican restaurant in the area, but what sets this place apart is the absolutely phenomenal wait staff. Reuben takes awesome care of my family every week! Love this place! If you want some spicier salsa, ask for it. They make a very good hot salsa.

Good Mexican food in columbus.

Quite possibly the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. I'm from Texas so I wasn't expecting much but the quality of food here is awful. The fajitas are not even seasoned and taste like packing peanuts. I am praying that Columbus has something better to offer or I am in for a rough six months.

I 've been working in columbus lately, so have been frequenting this place a lot. Value and quantity is the key theme here. You are going to get a lot of food for cheap, and it tastes pretty darn good. I have been here for lunch a few times. Service and food has been top notch. They have ton of menu options and combinations, something for everyone.

I found this place for a friend who needed help figuring out where to eat. He is now in love. Bonus points for making me seem awesome. nice fast and great food!

Decent restaurants are hard to find in Columbus so it was great to find El Carrizo. I would have given 5 stars except the salsa was kinda blah. It was mainly pureed tomatoes with a bit of spice. Chunks of onion, pepper, tomato or cilantro would have been helpful. But our shrimp fajitas and beef burrito were both excellent! And the margaritas were great! Will definitely be back.

The staff is friendly and the food is awesome! Never found Mexican food as good as the food here anywhere else and if your looking for a margarita that's a bang for your buck theirs won't let you down!

I honestly wouldn't even give this place one star. Their food is no where near authentic Mexican food. Their guacamole is a wet paste. Their salsa is so disappointing it was like tomato water. I would really recommend to everyone if you are looking for good Mexican food go somewhere else.

This was a favorite lunch spot with my co-workers because the food comes out sooo quickly that we could actually manage to sit down for a meal well within our lunch hour. As far as food goes, it's your standard canned, generic Mexi-crap. Of course, this is what we all love about these types of restaurants, right?! Really. I do. I tend to prefer a place down the street mostly because I find the service is a bit better and the servers are noticeably more pleasant

The staff was friendly. I had Chille Rellenos and the other half had the Shrimp Fajitas, and these were good too. Why two stars? Because this place is seriously understaffed. Our waiter kept avoiding eye contact with us and going different directions as we ended out meal because he was so completely swamped he didn't want to deal with us. We waited at least twenty minutes to get our check, and this place you actually pay at the door, he just needed to print something. When he finally did get our check he seemed pretty put out. I'd come back again for the food, but friendliness is not a substitute for timeliness.
