Healthy Meal suggestions for LongHorn Steakhouse

I should have read the reviews first but it probably wouldn't have mattered I would have hoped to raise them! I am so disappointed, I usually love this chain...maybe has something to do with the decor & love the paintings because nothing here is healthy, sodium overload is always expected! It was a late Monday night, not busy at all. Nice waitress, got our bread soon after order.Took 20 minutes to get drinks. At 25 minutes our appetizer of chips came out...on the house because our order got lost!!!!I could have understood this had there been more than 5 tables!! We had a burger & steak sandwich...food was good but the wait was unacceptable!

Perhaps the nicest place to eat at in Calhoun, I found mt experience here just "okay." Since I live in Atlanta and work in Calhoun, I am use to the fine dinning of the city. This is just typical dinning at a typical chain restaurant. Nothing about my experience really screamed "unique" like the experience I got when I ate at a small restaurant in Calhoun. I will say that I do not suggest coming here for lunch. It's incredibly expensive for a lunch meal. Go to a stand alone place with better food, a better environment and half the price - like Thurstons Cafe!

Two stars - it's really amazing when I give a chain 2 stars because normally you are sure of getting exactly what you think you will get from a chain! It might not be a 5 star place - but I normally rate it based on what I believe a chain can offer. This one was a huge let down. I ordered the prime rib - I was just in the mood for it and with the sweet potato (butter, brown sugar and cinnamon) it was going to be just what I needed. The group of ten ordered some appetizers and after sampling each one - I wanted to spit them all out! The shrimp, the onion petals, the spinach dip - ALL so salty I felt my BP rising quickly. Finally my meal was delivered and it looked AMAZING. However, that was where amazing stopped! stopped dead cold on that plate. Though the steak looked like it was cooked perfectly it was - the problem - the JUICE - it was so damn salty I couldn't dunk the pieces of prime rib in it, which is my favorite thing to do and the reason I order prime rib! I simple was not impressed at all. Salt is typically added to food for two reasons - to hide how old the crap is or to bring out more flavor - someone at this place doesn't understand just how much salt to use for either reason - because there was so much salt nothing was good! Even my sweet potato was a let down as it didn't have enough butter and sugar even after asking for extra - it wasn't anything that I had come to expect at a Longhorn place. I have many friends that don't eat at chains and don't review chains for many reasons. I am glad I do so I get a chance to warn people like me - don't try this place! The staff were decent, but needed reminders and the place was ok for cleanliness, but could have been much better!

Food was okay but service was very slow. Waitress was pushing appetizers so hard she was about to make me mad. Had to tell her no three times. $2.69 for iced tea is a rip off. Will order water from now on. When I asked for the check the waitress started pushing dessert I guess my look after telling her no for the second time shut her up. She was very annoying. Decor is nice and the place is very clean. Seems like they could use some training.

Had a simple lunch here. Fries and grilled chicken sandwich for me and a burger for my guest. After tip, the lunch bill was $29. Kind of pricey for the quality of food . Fries were cold and bread was going stale. Nothing really special. Service was OK, but need to improve the quality of food for what they are charging.

My wife and I went to the Calhoun Longhorns tonight to use a gift card that we received for Christmas. She had the lobster shrimp dip appetizer and I had the Wild West shrimp. About half way through found a big ole honking hair! The manager made it right though. He subtracted the price of the Wild West shrimp from the bill and offered us a to-go box for what my wife could not eat after watching me drag a big black hair out of the shrimp! After the manager (Keith) apologized to us, he had to go to another table to apologize for something else. I understand that "hairs" happen but I have had nothing but bad experiences at this particular Longhorns and will not be going back. The one in Dalton is great. Go ahead and make the 20 mile drive up the interstate. By the way, our server Nikkea was great and I did tip her the 20%.

First things first. I live in Calhoun and this is not my first visit. Second, the waitress was lovely and friendly even after her working a very long Easter Sunday in total mayhem. Alrighty, here we go. I was in a party of seven people. No picky eaters, very straightforward in what we ordered. One gentleman ordered prime rib, medium. It came out rare. Like not even born yet, rare. One woman with us paid an extra $1.65 for charbroiled asparagus as a side to go with her steak. She got six, black, limp, TWO INCH LONG and deflated spears for this. Not exaggerating. Servers appeared out of nowhere, putting cutting boards of bread and butter everywhere. On the menus, in our hands. We were so crowded, there was actually no place to set a drink. Things kept piling up and no one would take anything away. We finally just started putting things on the POS station where servers were putting in orders because honestly, we had no choice. At one point someone spilled my margarita because they were trying to move other items out of the way to make room. The lime wedge floating in my silver Patron looked like it had already been used in a prior drink, again, not exaggerating. Worse, and I have tended bar extensively, the margarita's, (I had two) were so light on the patron as to be non existent. Like the bartender just waved the bottle past the glass, kind of light. They of course were out of the lamb chops, so I ordered an 11oz prime rib with mashed potatoes and it came with a ceasar salad.$17.29 for this. I ordered it rare, can't mess that one up.The steak and GOD KNOWS I have eaten and grilled enough steaks in my lifetime to know what 11oz looks like. It was a 1/2 thick and 4 1/2 inches long. NOT 11oz. Even if I was blind, I'd pick up on that one. The mashed potatoes were tasty but were a tiny mound the size of a golf ball. The checks were split and there were three of us on one bill. The portions were laughably small, to the point that I really wondered why they bothered with such huge plates. Our order: One ribeye steak 11oz. (cough, cough, 6oz) dinner with mashed potatoes. One chicken fried steak with baked potato, 8oz. One sirloin steak 6oz with baked potato and asparagus. two cokes and two margarita's with patron, that we're pretty sure never made it to the glass. Total Bill: 124.00 UPDATE: I only ate four small bites of my steak and brought the rest home. I wasn't that hungry at the time. I just now got out my professional food scales, yes, I have those. I weighed what was left. Exactly 6oz. So I paid for 11oz and was actually served 8oz.

I would give this place four stars for service. The staff was very nice. Our waitress was prompt and attentive. We had to wait for a table, but when we were seated the service and kitchen worked at a good pace. My steak came more rare than ordered--I ordered it medium rare and it was cool pink to red in the center. To her credit, my server offered to take it back, and also waited for me to check it. The baked sweet potato was yummy. We had a free appetizer from our hotel (this restaurant is just across the parking lot), and choose the lobster and shrimp cheese dip. That was a meal in itself, and the cheese had a bit of a kick to it (too spicy for my mom!). I really like that they serve three different pours of wine (6,9, 12 oz). Especially with a red, this saves you from waiting to get a second drink that is too much anyway. I'm a 9 oz. girl. We had a nice experience here, and as a captive audience (what's within walking distance of the hotel?) I was well fed.

Quick lunch trip turned into waiting 40 min for salads and soups. Had to eat quick lol. Service was good though. Just always seems like something goes wrong with us at this longhorn. Terrible service, or their out of some sort of food, or the bread is not thawed out yet to put into the oven. Over all today was ok. Still got back to work just a few minutes late.

We had a wonderful late dinner. I had the 6 oz filet cooked perfectly medium rare. It was perfectly seasoned, melt-in-your-mouth tender and delicious. My husband had the ribeye and it was also very good. My younger son had the kid's menu sirloin and it was cooked a little too much, but he really liked it. The key lime pie was wonderful for dessert!

For a chain, this place is not too bad. Very affordable for steak and prime rib. Some of the fish and chicken dishes are over-priced for what they are. They are way off on quoting times though, more than once they told me the wait would be more than an hour and 15 minutes later we were seated, which normally is fine, but if you want to go shopping at the outlets across the street it's really frustrating to be way over quoted!

Not so hot! Score was a 73...dated 06/25/10! Walked in and directly back out, thank you very much!! Normally, I do not have any problems with Longhorn's, but since I was traveling from Augusta, GA to Tennessee this was just going to be a good break from Interstate travel... "Methinks not" is exactly right!

I ate here in Michigan two weeks ago and now here in Calhoun. It's one of those "ya get what ya pay for places.". Have I had a better steak? Yes Have I paid a lot more for a steak? Yes. It's pretty good for what you pay, so leave it at that. Decent value in today's economy is hard to complain about.

My daughter and I have had some really nice food here, until the other evening. We went on Monday night for a light supper. We ordered caesar salad, loaded baked potato soup, Blue Ridge salad and a French onion soup. The caesar salad was full of black pepper and had all the dressing on the bottom of the bowl. I didn't realize it was a caesar salad because it had NO romaine. It was just plain iceburg lettuce! The Blue Ridge salad had too much blue cheese and too much blue cheese dressing. That was served with romaine lettuce.. It wasn't a wedge, it was romaine leaves that were supposed to be on the caesar salad. The potato soup was thick with too much cheese and no sour cream, very little bacon and not a lot of potatoes. The French onion had a ton of swiss cheese on top (hardened)(I removed it in one piece!) could not chew it, a lot of bread cubes and very little of their "sirloin" broth. It was seasoned okay, but where was the broth? Soup is not a stew! If I wanted bread stew, I would have ordered that. I ordered SOUP for a cold night here. The bread was limited to one person, with hardly any butter. When we asked for more butter, she didn't bring any bread. Someone else got it when we were ready to leave. The check did not come until we got to the front and asked for it. The manager had to cash it out. He comped us for soft drinks and tea. I'll think twice before I order soup and salad here again. Watch your steaks. Sometimes they are too tough to eat. The trout, when they have it is fabulous and so are the mushrooms. I can just go eat the mushrooms every day!

After being contacted by a very nice gentleman from LongHorns' guest relations I decided to give it another try. I must say the Calhoun location has been improved greatly. There was a total of 8 people in my party including 2 children. We went on a sunday at appx 5 in the afternoon. We were seated promptly and we had a nice server. The area was clean and rest rooms were supplied and clean. After the food,(combinations of steak, burgers, and childrens menu) we only had one issue and that was that the burgers were dry. The manager, a very nice lady named Brea I think took charge and fixed the issue quickly. I think they have a great manager. The salads were fresh and I think a huge improvement over many other restaurants. Our steaks and other food arrived hot and ready to eat. The only real criticism I have is the corporate mentality about how the food is prepared. A good chef knows and understand local and regional tastes and should be allowed to do what they do best. As a disabled vet eating out is one of my few pleasures and I love and admire good food. LongHorn is probably your best bet in calhoun and I would have no problem eating there again and I am glad I gave them another chance.

Went there for lunch yesterday, it started out well with manager coming over to our table greeting us, waiter seemed very friendly too. Ordered two very simple lunch items, I had the seafood chowder and peppercorn steak sandwich and my husband the broccoli soup with the same sandwich. We had to wait nearly fifteen minutes for the bread and then about another five for the lunch, waiter dropped it off and then made himself so scarce than when had a problem and tried to get a hold if him the soup was cold, every member of staff we tried to get the attention of, including shouting excuse me to several of them proved to be fruitless. I tasted my thick, congealed soup and asked my husband to taste it and yup it wasn't chowder it was baked potato, both of us ate one piece of steak from the sandwich and OMG the steak was so chewy and tough , when we got service, eventually we were told right off the bat by the waiter "I didn't cook it" we didn't say he had I was very nice about what I said then he stirred the soup and said sorry this isn't the chowder. He asked did we want another sandwich and we both said no to which we were told if they as known the sandwich was like this today they would have recommended not to have it?? Really not fix it just recommend that customers don't buy it. The manager comped us the sandwiches but still charged me 2.66 for the soda, wouldn't recommend to anyone
