Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Prompt service and very attentive waiters and waitresses. Had the 3 Carnitas lunch special and was very tasteful and satisfying. Flan dessert was different than the ones I have had. Very affordable also.

The family and I stopped in before the dinner rush. They only had one waitress working, Sandra, who was very nice, but stretched thin. For as busy as she was she was still very attentive and made sure we had full glasses and were happy. The food was good, but just your run of the mill Mexican cuisine. I had fajitas which were good and served very hot. The wife got a cheese covered chimichanga which she said was good. Our booth had torn seats and wobbled a lot. As we were leaving I found the manager and told him how good Sandra was but he seemed to blow me off. If you really want Mexican food on this section of Washington Road I guess you don't have a lot of choices.

Slow service, decent place though. It's a non-chain Mexican Restaurant and my mom and I were starving. It was priced ok and I give it a whole star for the gigantic 1800 margarita on the rocks with salt!! I had 2... Food was meh, the steak tacos were tasty but was 50% bits of chewy gristle :/ But the guacamole was fab. Mom had the taco salad. Normal, plain simply tasted the way we thought it would but nothing spectacular

I love La Preferida (2 burritos filled with ground beef covered with melted white cheese along with rice and refried beans) at Vallarta's...My wife is a big fan of Sopa de Polla and the Flautas...You can't go wrong with any of these choices (and many more)!

Service is a hit or a miss. The food is consistently good and the lunch pricing is worth it. The margaritas and daiquiris are good and usually quite strong. For the beer, keep it simple (Budweiser, Corona, Dos Equis). The other beers just taste flat for some reason. Overall, decent pricing for what you get.

The servers were great! The food was a little bland but hot. I had the super chimichangas and was a little disappointed..... I have been here once and decided to try it again. The kids were running around and screaming! Wow!

Ineptitude personified: that about sums up this place. I called ahead to get a takeout order, show up 30 minutes later, and they seem to have forgotten about it. They put it in when I got there but that defeats the purpose of calling ahead. I finally got my food after waiting for 20 minutes with not even so much as a "sorry" at the end of it. It gets worse: he tried to bill me for something I didn't order. And the kicker is they try to convince me to take it saying "it's only $3 dollar more". Thanks but no thanks buddy. To top it off, portion size is PATHETICALLY small. Seriously I got FIVE (5) small shrimp in my fajitas and like half a cup of rice and beans. All I have to say is thank God I'm not in big rush nor am I ravenously hungry. This place sucks, I won't be back.

This is the first Mexican restaurant I tried after moving to Augusta. I've always had great service and a lot of fun with the staff. The margaritas are great and the food is always fresh. I love the Papas Locas!

The parking lot sucks because if you go all the way around you must exit the place if you took the chance at a better parking spot. Taking a left into and out of the place is near impossible during high traffic times. When we got in we were greeted immediately and sat at a booth meant for two. The both was nice and not cramped at all. 2 different salsas and chips were brought out immediately and our drink orders were taken right away. When our chips and salsa ran out it took some time for the chips to be replenished and then we never saw the salsa until we were ready for the check. The food portion, taste and cost were on par with what I have had in this area. If you are looking for a place to grab some Mexican this place will do.

Sorry, just can't compare to the mexican in San Antonio.....it is not even close.

The service is a bit slow, and it can be hard to get in and out of this restaurant's parking lot (go in and out the back), but most of the time I go here, we enjoy it. The salsa has improved to a chunkier, spicier version. I go to this Vallarta specifically for the garden burrito (burrito al jardin), which I don't believe is on the menu at the others. It's an enormous burrito filled with spinach, peppers, onions, and mushrooms all grilled to perfection.

I love Mexican food and this place did not disappoint. I had steal fajitas and my wife had chimichanga's and they were delicious. The price was very reasonable, with 2 drinks it was less then 30 dollars. The service was fast and friendly the ambiance was great and the daily specials are very reasonable. You get tons of food on your plate. I am definitely coming back

AMBIENCE - C+ SERVICE - C+ FOOD - A PRICE - A Went to this place with an Augusta Daily Deal on a Friday early evening in Jan. 2013. AMBIENCE - C+ - I find the place a little rundown, but kept somewhat clean... there's a little mustiness to the place. SERVICE - B Entering, I don't really feel welcomed, but once you get someone's attention, they seat you quickly. Most servers were helpful in describing and recommending the dishes. If you speak Espansol, all is good! The service is quick and efficient. FOOD - A So, like most Mexican restaurants, you get the complimentary chips and salsa. I like to also request the green tomatillo sauce and some hot sauce on the side to spice up my salsas! I noticed a SPECIAL Mexican sign that serves authentic faire on Sat/ Sun. I definitely wanted to try some menudo (Mexican tripe soup) . The server was nice to ask the kitchen and they ended up allowing me to have their menudo on a Friday! That was nice service! Overall, the tripe was nicely chunked and not overly pungent. You have to like the texture of tripe to enjoy this dish. I also recommend the authentic fajita pork dish. Delicious! My fave are the Pork. Shrimp. And Tripe dishes so far! I'm A fan. Along with their American mex dishes. This place can serve up some authentic Mexican dishes and flavors. PRICE - A - With an Augusta Daily Deal... this was worth it! Glad I tried!

Went for my Bday celebration this past weekend. Totally disappointed in the experience. I chose here because they stayed open later than other Mexican spots in the area. First, we had to send a picture of Texas Margaritas back because they were watered down and very weak and anyone that frequents Mexican knows Texas margaritas are supposed to be kind of strong. Nobody really ate their food because it really didn't taste fresh. Horrible choice for my get together!!!

Best fresh-made guacamole in Georgia for this SoCal girl who had seven five-star Mexican spots within walking distance (and two five-star taco trucks!) at her previous pad in SoCal. Splurge on the made-to-order guacamole. The rest of the meal was a hard let-down. The grey slop served as steak fajitas and taco meat tasted like it came out of a can, Alpo.

Used to go here a lot. Haven't been for about a year. The lunch specials used to be plentiful and cheap. They are now small and expensive. Was ok. Would I go again maybe for a quick work lunch.

Cheap $2 good margaritas is the only reason to return. Wait a minute, I don't even drink! Guess who's not returning? Food ok, nothing to write home about. Usual Mexican menu with many veggie choices. Not crazy about chips or salsa, prices typical, just wish the server would speak better English. She seemed mad at us but couldn't tell if it was a cultural thing or just her. Beans were dry and crusty like they sat around and no one bothered to stir the pot. The usual sticky menus, freezing room temperature (BYOSweater), Do NOT get the flan, it was store bought and the first I ever had that was chewy! Weird. Did they defrost it in the microwave? Hope my daughter doesn't read this, she likes to come for the drinks. And you know how when you recommend a place you feel responsible? I didn't tell her what I really thought. Its ok, I paid!

This is a pretty decent run of the mill Mexican restaurant. Nothing outwardly amazing about it, and nothing horrible about it. Though the atmosphere is far better than Monterrey's, and I hear that the pollo con crema paired with a mudslide cocktail is a hit!

The food was flavorless and the service wasn't all that great, either. I've yet to figure out why this place is so popular in Augusta when there are much better choices not too far up Washington Road. The portions & prices are fair, but the food was just awful.

Your average Mexican restaurant with nothing much different from the rest. 2 dollar margaritas specials are nice. The food was decent and service was fast. The lunch fajitas were ok. Taste the same as other mexican restaurants in the area.
