Just moved to the neighborhood and decided to try out Zuma. I tried to order pick-up, but after calling 3 times with no answer... I decided to make the short walk and wait. I ordered two rolls and both were lackluster. My shrimp tempura roll seemed soggy? Bummed because I was hoping to have this place be my standard neighborhood go-to for sushi.

Great sushi. Friendly service and a laid back environment. We will definitely go back.

HORRIBLE SERVICE. DO NOT GO HERE. The waiters were so rude and we had to set our own tables and get our own menus. They did not even acknowledge us as a table so we walked out.

Have been here before and it's been decent, but just went and the service was terrible so we had to leave. No one took our order and we were sitting in a quarter full restaurant for 15 min. The waiter when told he hadn't given us service by another waiter said "fuck" in front of our table. Really embarrassing for the restaurant.

The sushi was very delicious. A little pricey but service was nice for lunch. It was pretty quiet. Loved the sourness of the nanban roll. Our Hawaiian roll was very yummy. I hear they have deals ever so often and we would definitely be back!

Ive been here twice and each time was great! The Zuma is the best roll on the menu. I warn you though, it's $18... yep, that's ONE roll. It's like there's some special mouth orgasm sauce they put in it. Mmmmm, best roll... please try it... and bring me one. The white tuna tartar is delicious! If you order these two dishes you'll pretty much be full. The service was excellent each time and it wasn't crowded which is surprise because the food is wonderful.

Similar to Gill B., I also visited Zuma because of a Scoutmob deal. The sushi is affordable, around $7-9 for regular rolls and $12-15 for fancy ones. The sushi was flavorful, fresh, and affordable. In my opinion, it's better than Gekko sushi in Midtown and as good as Harry and Sons in Virginia-Highland. The only negative remark I have is about the service. The service was slow and we had to wait 3-5 minutes to be seated then another 15 minutes to place our order; this was rather strange for a week night especially with a fairly empty room. The host was also our waiter and we had to wait 30 minutes for our food although the room was fairly empty. Nevertheless, it was worth the wait.

I have been to Zuma many times and I have never had a bad experience. I have been once during the week and several times on Friday and Saturday. During my weekday visit, the restaurant was shockingly uncrowded. Most people (including my friend and I) were sitting on the covered patio. I would like to note that it can get a touch buggy out there (hey Zuma, friendly suggestion-consider putting up some screens). Otherwise, I usually sit at the sushi bar where all of the magic happens. The servers have always been beyond friendly and willing to meet all of our requests. Does my water glass stay full here- check. Does my food come out quickly- check. Do I leave satisfied with the service-check. Three big wins for Zuma's staff. I find the metal chopsticks really slippery (perhaps I'm too much of a novice to appreciate sophisticated metal chopsticks) but the employees are always willing to bring me wooden ones so my sushi doesn't go flying. My favorite roll on the menu is the big vegetable roll. It has pickled radish, avocado, cucumber, asparagus, and more all packed into a little present wrapped in seaweed. Its a unique roll that I haven't found anywhere else. I will note that some of the rolls are just too large. I once ordered the calamari roll. Though it was tasty, it was literally impossible to fit into my mouth. Won't be doing that again. Besides that small misstep, the sushi has been solid and the Scoutmob, half off deals make returning to Zuma a no brainer. Parking is the trickiest part about venturing over to Zuma. If you can't parallel park, you should probably just go to the less impressive Druid Hills location. On the weekends there is a valet, but besides that streetside parallel is your option. Finding a spot on a weekday is obviously much easier, but your options are still limited.

Ended up here last night after Bluefin let me down, and I was pleased. Free valet parking was an immediate plus. I was a little worried by the handwritten "Please Wait To Be Seated" sign done on white paper with what appeared to be flourescent pink highlighter, but other than that things seemed to be clean and in order. The server was attentive and polite, but seemed to be a tad irritated when we only ordered 2 rolls to start. I didn't like that. I was there with a newbie and just wanted to see if she liked sushi before we ordered a bunch of rolls with me as the only sushi-lover. With that said, it is entirely possible that I misread her( the server), so I won't hold that against Zuma. We started with a spicy tuna roll and the Philadelphia. The spicy tuna roll was amazing-- we both loved it. If you're a purist and don't like fancy rolls, this might not be for you. It was full of non-standard ingredients and additions, but it was very good. The Philadelphia was ok. Next we ordered a Shrimp Tempura Roll, a Hamachi (yellowtail) roll, and a second spicy tuna roll. I wasn't crazy about the tempura, but it was ok. I loved the texture and taste of the nori (seaweed) around the hamachi-- I could eat nori by itself, but the hamachi didn't really wow me. Long story short: despite the fancy pictures, this is a casual restaurant for a spur of the moment sushi craving. Don't spend all night getting ready to come here, or bring someone you're trying to impress. The sushi is good, but not great, and the service is fine, but not stellar. Having said all of that, I will probably return to Zuma if for no other reason than the spicy tuna roll. I've never had anything like it.

I like this place! It's a really good middle of the road sushi place, when you're not willing to choke down RuSans, but you don't want to pay MF Sushi prices either. I've never had bad service, and the fish is always fresh. Might not be the best cuts or the most unique combinations of flavors, but I've always found it to be pretty consistent.

Location: Highland Parking: Parallel street parking Food: Little better than average sushi Service: Poor Not sure if we had went there on a bad day but there was only one server. As we were greeted, the manager/host asked us to wait while he cleaned our table. In the midst of it, I could not help to notice that there were at least 5 other empty tables that were left dirty after customers had left. When we were seated, I noticed the table was very sticky and also found couple fish eggs on my fresh "new" napkin. I was very reluctant to use that napkin and instead had utilized it to put it over the table just so that I did not have to deal with the stickiness, sacrificing my lap. We bypassed all this and were waiting patiently, well, technically eyeing down the server, when we were ready to order. It seemed like it was forever. The server had catered to 4 other tables right beside ours before she made her first "appearance." That was, of course, after the manager's/host order. The first thing we ordered was green tea and the server had brought it out in a pot. I have never had cold green tea served to me at a Japanese restaurant before!!! It felt like the water was left there for a while and she just served it to us... I do not have words to describe how I felt at that moment but the only thing that kept my mouth shut was the thought of my food being contaminated or what not. This is one of my fear of eating out, along with my recently developed fear of drinking anything with ice or from a soda machine at a restaurant because I feel like they are always overlooked in cleaning and unknown bacterias are formed. Thanks Restaurant Impossible! Lol, but don't get me wrong, I do love that show :) Back to Zuma, the decor is cute, black and red, very classy looking place. I would think it would be a very good date place, hoping that they would have more than one server next time. Their sushi was pretty good, better than most places. I would definitely recommend the soft shell crab tempera as appetizer! One of the best that I had. Overall, the food made up for everything since we were pretty hungry and they were pretty good. I just hope for their sakes that they brush up on cleanliness and service.

I went to this place recently when we were using Scoutmob to determine where to eat. (Hey, we're on a budget.) Thanks to SM we not only got an excellent deal BUT amazing food from a place we didn't know about. Since the boyfriend isn't a big seafood fan, there were options for him to eat. We gorged ourselves on different kinds of sushi and managed to get full pretty quickly. The food was delicious, and the service was pretty awesome. We did overhear several people say that the restaurant was strangely not packed on the night we went. We did go around 6 p.m. on a Friday, so I guess if you want to go and not wait then definitely hit it up early.

I made my first visit to Zuma because of a Scoutmob deal and had a generally pleasant experience. Parking can be a bit of a headache as that Highland Avenue stretch gets pretty crowded. If your lucky, you can snag a spot on Highland Avenue or Sampson Street. The dining room is a bit dark with paper lanterns throughout, but not uncomfortably so. There is a lovely covered patio outside that looks out onto Highland (although when we asked to sit there on one of our visits, we were told that we had to sit inside because they ran out of soy sauce dishes...? Riddle me that). We sat at the sushi bar to watch the chefs in action. They were extremely friendly and told us that they would be happy to meet our requests and make our sushi dreams come true. And they did just that. I had an eel and cucumber roll that was delicious and fresh. Our server was kind enough to offer us wooden chopsticks after watching us struggle with the slippery metal ones placed on our plates. The service was relatively speedy, and the sushi and seaweed salad were delicious. I also ordered a cranberry sake cocktail that did not disappoint. No major complaints! I've been to the other Zuma location on Druid Hills, but I would choose this Old Fourth Ward location over that one any day.

Great improvements are happening everywhere, and this is proven true at our neighborhood sushi joint, Zuma. We really enjoyed the personal service, laughed with our sushi chef, used a Scoutmob, and kept the costs down to round out a great sushi outing. But the food was ON POINT! Everything was wonderful, we tried several rolls, miso soup (always go for fermented soy, it is supposed to very good for you no matter where it came from), and a few single sashimis. We even got a little extra, no hidden costs, even the saki was priced right. I am looking forward to having an excuse to go again!

Had dinner at Zuma tonight. Their sweetheart roll is one of their best. We tried the three amigo roll for the first time and some bites were better than others. It was fun!

I got a Groupon for Zuma and visited it for dinner with the bf. We both love sushi and figured we'd check it out. It's tucked away just outside of the downtown area, in a nice little neighborhood (street parking was free). We went in around 6 p.m. on a weeknight and it was really quiet. I love the atmosphere -- it looks like a very quintessential sushi restaurant with deep, dark colors; intimate table spaces; open layout. Since we were one of literally two tables, we had great service. On to the goods... We had edamame and the octopus (Tako sunomono) for starters. I wasn't personally a fan of the octopus, but the bf really liked it. We shared sushi (Zuma roll, Volcano roll, spice tuna and Godzilla roll). As Nick S. says, there is a lot of fish inside these babies! For me, it was almost TOO much (did I just say that?). I like there to be a fairly even rice-to-fish ratio, because while I want to taste and enjoy the fish in my sushi, I like some rice in there, too -- not just a big blob of raw tuna to wrestle around with (then again, I have weird food texture issues). But you get a considerable amount of seafood in the rolls, which makes the value well worth it. It was all delicious, fresh, well-made with a beautiful presentation. I haven't been back yet, but I will be!

  • Ben B.

Sushi was decent and atmosphere was typical of the highlands, but be prepared to spend quite a while waiting on your food and any service. There were roughly 10 to 11 tables at lunch and only one server during our visit. Also, be mindful that although the Scoutmob app says you may not use the deal on "Lunch Specials", Zuma will not let you use it at lunch at all, even if you don't order a special. Probably wont be going back.

A great place to get quality sushi. I've been several times and each time I've been impressed with their service and presentation. The sushi is delicious but a bit pricey- however there are always coupons around (scoutmob, halfoffdepot) so you're always getting a great deal. Parking is a bit tricky, but it's right off of the belt line/ freedom trail so that is a plus. Their calamari roll is amazing!

  • Anna M.

They have a great lunch special during the week, 3 rolls for 12$ and it includes soup or salad, also you can get all you can eat for 15$! They also have really good sashimi!

I have a love/hate relationship with the Old Fourth Ward. Yeah, it's hip and cool, and "transitional", but I also got my car window smashed into and my MacBook Pro stolen. So whenever a friend suggests Old Fourth Ward, I get a little hesitant and ask to carpool. Safety in numbers! Zuma is nestled right in the hub of the revitalized section where other restaurants like P'cheen and Across the Street are located. it's a great neighborhood spot for sushi if you're in the area.

WARNING: The Special Rolls here are MASSIVE With that being said, The Zuma roll and the Godzilla roll were both pretty good. The non specialty rolls are pretty good too. The fish was pretty plentiful for them being just the "cheap" roll on the side. I look forward to coming back for the lunch buffet on weekdays.,. Basically unlimited non special rolls.

Nice little sushi place but a little bit pricey. Would make sense for the area it's in. They have good specialty rolls.

In one word ... terrible! I eat out 4-6 times per week in various Atlanta-area neighborhoods, and I had my WORST experience in years this afternoon at Zuma in Old Fourth Ward. The service was extremely slow and inexcusably inattentive. To add insult to injury, the food was less than average - even the soy sauce lacked flavor! I've never submitted an online review before, but I use and depend on them often. After today's experience, I felt compelled to give others what so many have given me - honest warning. Honestly, my rating is one star only because zero is not an option.

So, if you've read any of the handful of other reviews I've written, you will notice I'm a little picky about my sushi. Look, I worked on a Lobster (ok, Lobastah) Boat in Boston, grew up on the coast eating super fresh seafood. I've been to Japan. A lot. I like good sushi. And I know it's not super difficult to do. You just need to care. A little. The good news for landlocked locations like Atlanta is that there are a multitude of purveyors that deal in superfresh fish, have their handling process and delivery timelines down to a science. With that in mind, back to the part about caring, it should be pretty easy to be good at the core sushi basics, tuna, yellowtail, etc. (more esoteric stuff... I get it, that's harder). You're guessing, rightly, by now that we weren't impressed. You'd be right. Arrived at about 8PM on a Saturday to a half full restaurant and noone at the sushi bar. Score for us as we prefer to sit there and engage with the sushi chefs and potentially enjoy Omakase (chefs choice). It took a long time for one of the half dozen servers to finally come over and ask us our drink order (Sapporo). We completed the full sheet size sushi bar order sheet selecting a number of things that would give us a sense of whether to be more adventurous or not. Things like a california roll, Negihama maki, salmon, maguro and yellowtail sashimi. Took a little bit for the three chefs behind the bar to get the food put together, but it started to come out pretty quickly. Immediately noticed the tuna was frozen (frozen tuna always has that kinda crystallized pale-ish red look to it versus a more vibrant deep red when it's fresh. It had that "freezer case" taste to it and was a bit mealy. To be fair, though, the salmon was pretty good, although fairly fatty and the yellow tail was also decent. The negihama roll was made from scraps as is often the case, but the mix had been around a while and it tasted that way. I also ordered saba, another good test in my opinion. The saba was dry, and hadn't been vinegared well. The other thing we noticed, and I realized this is more of an issue in the restaurants trying to catch on to the sushi fad, is that the rice for the rolls and the sushi had very little flavor to it. It's not a problem unique to Zuma, but it's a key issue. You see, sushi rice is made with a specific process and that is seasoning the rice which is done with a little bit of rice wine vinegar as well as some sugar. Now that may seem like not much of a detail, but trust me. It is. As Alton Brown would say - That's not good eats (if it's not prepared correctly). The rice tasted like just straight simple steamed rice. And I ldo love me some rice, but if you're going to present yourself as a sushi joint, ya gotta do the rice right people! Overall, a mediocre experience from the service point of view. Nothing bad, just not real attentive and a little slow. Others have noted this. Food quality? Well it sure won't kill you. And it was decent, just not as good as others at the same or similar price point in town. With the way parking is in this part of town on the weekend, combined with mid-grade quality fish, I'd opt for Gekko over on Glen Iris in a heartbeat.

It makes me sad to say this place has steadily gone downhill since they started participating in Scoutmob deals. What was once a place with fresh sushi, attentive service and relaxed atmosphere is quickly deteriorating into an average strip-mall-esque sushi experience. The last time I was there there were BONES in my sashimi. BONES. While I can be forgiving for a lot of things, that was fairly appalling. I used to dine here almost every Sunday evening but have been opting for other restaurants or cooking at home over the last few months. And unless they get their act together, I would recommend you do the same...

Sometimes I just want sushi. Not mindblowing sushi but just sushi. Half off sushi is hard to beat. The super crunch roll was pretty good !

This was my favorite sushi place in ATL because of the variety of rolls. But the service has gone downhill fast. During our most recent visit there was only 5 tables in the house and it took 20 minutes before they even brought us menus. After we asked for service, the waiter threw his tray down and yelled "f&$%"...needless to say we won't be back till they improve their service standards. We left immediately after the incident.

I visited this place twice thanks to Scoutmob and I would say they were both average to good experiences. Both times I have gotten sushi and the second time around I enjoyed my rolls. I had the golden, tempura salmon, and super crunch rolls (kept it rather safe with mostly fried rolls) which were very good. I was a little hesitant to try anything else as the smell inside was a little fishy but not too bad. I might have to give this place another try, with Scoutmob of course.

  • Jennifer M.

The quality of Zuma has drastically decreased during the past year. On more than one occasion the fish has tasted rotten. More times than not there is a really gross smell inside the dining room. The service has gone from mediocre to horrible. The last time I was there (last week) one of the servers kept sneezing into the air. It was really, really gross and unsanitary. That visit marked my last visit to Zuma. There are too many other sushi places in the area with similar quality and better service. Save your money and tastebuds.

The all you can eat lunch is great. Also place is clean , they have really good food .

  • Ken L.

It is all about expectations at these quasi-Japanese sushi joints. This one makes playful maki rolls that appease me, yet the fish grade is far below my standards. Don't order the all you can eat lunch deal if you can discern quality as the appear to use inferior fish for that. Overall, it is a casual, nice place to go to especially on a "deal."

4 stars for food, minus one for service. I'm glad I went here once before and had no complaints, because my service was so shitty this time it would convince me not to go back, despite good food. As someone who is not big on seafood, I've had two different eel based rolls here and loved them! A great meshing of multiple flavors and large portions. Our waiter seemed to want us out of there in a rush (on a holiday weekend when it wasn't crowded?). He was outright hovering to get the check from us and eager to clear dishes as soon as he thought we were done with them. The low point was when he took away my beer without asking. This was after I had drunk 3/4 of it in a frosted glass, but still had some in the bottle I wanted to pour out. I even shouted after him (loud enough the I scared the crap out of the next table), but he just kept walking away. I spent the rest of the evening gripping plates we hadn't finished with every time he came by. Maybe if you aren't in such a rush next time bub, you won't get a $1.35 tip on a $38 bill - yeah, thats right, he earned it.

Husband and I went on the scoutmob deal. He got his standard, saba, tomago, and inari plus a basic roll. The tomago was a little stale, and the saba and inari were fancy-fied (which he didn't like... but he always gets basic stuff because he likes simplicity in his sushi). They had a lot of interesting sounding rolls, many of which were $18 (!!!!!). Luckily, those ones appeared to be large enough to constitute an entire entree. My spicy tuna roll was $8 and totally worth it. My volcano roll ($14) had a weird taste to it, but that might just be because of the torching, which I've never experienced before. But, you know, a weird taste in sushi is always a bit concerning. The service was just fine, and it was busy in there too, so maybe they hired some more people since the "bad service" reviews below. I would go there again just to get that spicy tuna roll and some edamame, but other than that, it was too expensive for the quality.

  • Alex C.

This place always seems pretty empty, I'm not sure what it is, but it isn't like the food is bad. In fact, their portions are pretty good and the prices decent. I just can't get over their wild array of roll combinations that don't always work. Sometimes sushi just needs to be clean and simple. Due to this, I'm leaving off the 4th star. However, it's probably a good place to take a rookie sushi person too. They very, very often are featured on Groupon or LivingSocial, which definitely makes it a worthwhile trip. So make sure to keep an eye out.

    (3)
  • Erin H.

I think this is great for Groupon deals, but I don't think the sushi is worth its full price. The sushi is fairly average, but the atmosphere is really nice if you like it quiet and not crowded (well, unless you get a table of loud people next to you, which happened to me once).

Went for lunch. I wasn't expecting great sushi, just some average rolls. But they weren't even that good. Will not be going back.

So I ventured to Inman Park to try Zuma Sushi because I had a Scout Mob...I was very impressed with the restaurant. Because Highland is SUPER BUSY, there is complimentary valet parking...AWESOME! I ventured out of my norm, and got rolls I hadn't tasted before and I was completely amazed. The shrimp tempura roll was amazing...I also got the Sato Roll which consisted of shrimp, crab, avocado, and cream cheese, then deep fried...again, amazing. I cleaned one of my plates and saved the rest to take home. My only complaint is that the beverages are served in a can. It gives the place that "college dive" feel, when it's way more than that....I will definitely be back.... PS: My bill was only $10.47....Scout Mob strikes again!

The BF and I came here for dinner the other day before heading to 10 high for yacht rock. We were quickly seated at the bar without a reservation and brought our drinks pretty quickly. We were disappointed in the lack of hot foods on the menu but settled on a bunch of rolls and cold appetizers instead. The ambiance is heavy on the red with a lot of tables set for dates or small groups, with a large amount of empty unused space in the center. I think we must have gone on a good day (Thursday night) because our service was a-ok. We didn't have any issues at all. Our food came out promptly and my drink was kept full. The waitress was super nice (all smiles). I would definately be back if there were more hot food items, but I guess the rolls are their thing. One other thing - there is no parking lot, so it's street parking only. We were able to find a spot without too much trouble approximately half a block down, but I imagine parking would be more of an issue on a Friday or Saturday night.

  • Sam L.

I've been here several times. Lunch and dinner. I do not have any complaints! They always have a scoutmob (dinner only) and I'd say this is the most affordable sushi in the city (maybe ru sans is cheaper? But that's rubbish). I'd recommend to anyone looking for good affordable sushi for lunch or dinner. There usually isn't a wait. The parking can be a little tricky.

Came back, our waitress remembered us from months ago. Omg i cant remember her name but she has multicolored hair. This place not only has great tasting sushi but great drinks as well. We had the blushing geisha, which has a very delicious pina colada sitting at the bottom of it. The fish is fresh, the price is right, the service is on point, the drinks dont cost an arm, the atmosphere is great (we were watching old kung fu fighting movies on our personal little tv they have in front of each table) and it wasnt crowded on a Saturday night. Which is great for us because we dont want to stand around and wait. 8 rolls and 3 geishas came to $88.

  • Braden T.

Not recommended. We tried 5 of their special rolls. They were either mayonnaisey or covered in an especially wet and unappealing unagi sauce. Each roll in one of these two categories tasted identical, and it wasn't a particularly good taste. +1 star cuz it's cheap. Try a better sushi restaurant tho, like Starfish.

Love coming here wether it's late night date night or what ever the acasion this place is among my top 3 in sushi preference between the southern sundown or the volcano roll you can't go wrong.

I'm so on the fence here. The food was almost good, the service was almost good. It's hard to put my finger on...bi got a chicken bento box with a shrimp tempura roll. The "teriyaki" chicken was so dry that o had to ask for it to be remade, which I never ever do. I just literally couldn't even chew it. And the chicken was so bland and flavorless. It was thrown on a George foreman (I know the marks) with no seasoning and drizzled with teriyaki. Gross. And the shrimp roll was FULL of warm cream cheese. Ew. I don't know... It looked pretty, but I just can't say it was good.

This review won't be pertinent to people who are interested in the sushi since I am a vegetarian. There was a Zuma in Houston and it made me wonder if this location is part of a chain. As it says in its title, it's a sushi bar so there are not many Japanese dishes made by the kitchen. The location is in a beautiful historic neighbourhood and the staff was friendly. I had several vegetarian appetizers, including the vegetable gyoza and korroke which are like potato crocquettes. The gyoza was deep fried rather than pan fried but the korroke was mushy instead of crispy. I also had an inari roll which was quite tasty and the green tea mochi ice cream was delicious. It was more ice cream than mochi which is quite fine by me. My friends loved their nigiri and sashima offerings. I found the prices quite reasonable compared to the many places I've been to in my travels before I turned vegetarian.

I like the fact that Zuma is open late during the week--perfect for those late-night sushi cravings. My faves include the Viagra (yeah, I know) and the Sato Rolls. Zuma's got a good variety of interesting specialty rolls, and the usual suspects are available as well. Complimentary valet is always a good thing. This place is worth checking out!

This place is always consistently great, yet empty. I feel that they have made great strides in the last year. They lowered their prices a bit and offer a few new special rolls that are the top tasting in town, in my opinion. Do yourself a favor and order the Hawaiian roll.

So the last time I was at Zuma was 4 years ago. I used a scoutmob coupon and I had a bad experience and I never came back again. But Matthew (the front manager of Zuma) reached out to me on Yelp to come check it out again because of new management change and offered complimentary service. That was a no brainer and I do believe in second chances. So I made a reservation and was greeted by Matthew and he was our server for the night. Matthew has been in the restaurant industry and is a lifer. You can definitely tell by his years of experience by the level of service he gives you. He has thorough knowledge of the menu and expertly answered every question we had. He catered to our needs by bringing us hot green tea because my date and I were feeling a little under the weather which I really appreciated and was a nice gesture. Level of service was phenomenal and made you feel at ease. Lets talk about the food now. From now till last time I ate there was a huge improvement in food. What stood out to me was that food tasted quality and fresh. We had miso soup, tuna tartare, ginger salad, warm sake, sushi for two, 3 amigos roll, and dessert. Miso was warm and tasty especially on a cold night. The ginger salad was excellent with crisp leafy greens. The fish tasted great especially the toro (fatty tuna), salmon, yellow tail, snapper, and scallop sushi that we ate. In Atlanta it's hard to find good fresh sushi especially since we are so far from coast but no problem here at Zuma. I definitely liked the creative twist in the specialty roll we had of the 3 amigos with mango slices, avocado, tuna, salmon, and a third fish i can't remember. Dessert was fun which was ice cream that was flashed fried with dough. So food was great all around. But couple of points to consider, we were served by Matthew and he was a great server, would we get the same level of service from a different server? I don't know and it was also a slower night that we came but I do know that I liked the service and food enough to come back again. Thank you Matthew!

I'm always pleased when I come here. Exceptional service, and they recommend the best rolls. Get the Volcano, Rainbow Roll or the Three Amigos. They're all good if you ask me.

Lackluster service and sushi quality doesn't match the hip and energetic Inman Park neighborhood. We checked out this spot for lunch and tried the 2 and 3 roll combo lunch specials. The fresh, nicely portioned ginger salad and piping hot miso soup were bright spots. Too bad my white tuna and salmon avocado rolls lacked flavor and they were small in size. Our table also tried the shrimp tempura roll which was a bit messy in presentation. The spicy salmon roll was decent due to the kick of flavor from the spicy sriracha mayo. The environment felt sterile and the sushi (from the specials menu) wasn't better than the rolls I've had from Whole Foods or Publix. On to the service - we were seated immediately and the food came out in good time. Friendly? No. Transactional? Yes. A greeting from someone on staff once we enter the restaurant and checking in to see how we're doing during the meal will up the experience.

Every single time I come here I'm never disappointed. It's definitely my go to for sushi. The decor as well as the service are very open and inviting. The price point is amazing and I happen to be a VIP member so... DISCOUNT!! I always try something new per my attentive server's suggestion. Today I didn't take pics. Sorry. I was starving. I had the Shumai and Crunch Tuna for an appetizer. The rolls I got today were the Lobster tempura roll and Super crunch roll. Both were so amazing and filling. My friend got the Rainbow roll and a Spicy Tuna roll. Those were Uber yummy too. I recommend this place. It's a hidden gem in Old Fourth Ward. It's never super crowded and the servers aren't pushy. One of my favorite places in ATL for sure.

Always delicious, fresh sushi. We haven't had a bad roll yet and we've sampled almost half the sushi menu. The place isn't very big, although we've never been when it's packed. They have a weekday lunch special for all you can eat, or roll combos that is pretty reasonable. I wouldn't say the ambiance is bad, but just leaves something to be desired. The seating area flows right into the 'work' area for the servers, which makes it feel a little less classy than it could. I almost knocked it down a star because of that. But at the end of the day, if we want good sushi and are willing to drive anywhere in ATL, ZUMA is at or near the top of our list.

Sometimes I really wish we had the option for half stars, because I would TOTALLY give them 3.5 stars. Since I moved to Atlanta at the beginning of the year, I have been CRAVING sushi. It used to be so conveniently located to me in Gainesville, what with two Bento Café's, Matsuri, Miya, etc...but more importantly, so affordable! It's incredibly difficult to justify paying $10+ for a roll when some of the sushi I've seen is so modestly portioned that I would need at least 3 rolls to feel satisfied. Enter Zuma. I first heard about them from a guest I served at my workplace. The couple boasted that they were a bit of "sushi snobs" and told me about Zuma, which happens to be quite close to home. I dragged my little brother along, and we sat outside to take advantage of the nice Spring weather. We just HAD to pick one of the tables that just HAD to be wobbly...and suppressing our mutual OCD, decided against moving. Waiter, though very sweet and eager, did not take notice of this, nor did he remember to bring soy sauce with our food - a big whoopsies, IMO. He DID however, take care to pour our sake when he first brought it out. GG. We started with agedashi tofu, which was a bit disappointing. The cornstarch coating was not well fried, and was pretty soggy when it got to the table (not just the part that sits in the sauce). The sauce lacked character, that's the best I can describe it. Sushi quality did not suffer, although the pricing seems a little lower than (read: YAYYY/*thumbs up emoji*) other sushi places in Atlanta. I had a roll with hamachi and pickled ginger, and another one with spicy tuna (I asked for no spicy mayo, but the tuna was still flavored with pickled ginger and togarashi, I think) and seared hamachi on top. Both were very tasty. Lil bro was also pleased with his choices (one was the Zuma, and the other I forget). Will definitely be back soon because the sushi craving is already itching back...

One of the main reasons I moved to Georgia - I live in the building where Zuma is located. Fantastic appetizers , soup, sushi, drinks, saki. You can order chicken wings if you have a fussy person with you who wont eat raw fish. They do their utmost. You will have an exquisite delightful experience.. The new menu has lower prices from what was already a bargain. overall I give the place 6 stars

The Zuma staff exhibited excellent service and great hospitality well into the late hours of the night. The head sushi chef and owner was very accommodating when my friend and I rolled in a few minutes before closing. He invited us to sit in and eat (when we planned on grabbing takeout) and even offered a sample of some fresh menu items. I'll definitely be headed back [on another late night]. I regret being unable to spell Kiao San's [sp?] name, but he impressed a great regard for customer satisfaction, nonetheless.

Amazing service with even BETTER food! Authentic meets progressive in this family friendly Sushi restaurant in the heart of the Wolfpack nation. Fresh items served daily at the sushi bar with exquisite dishes from the kitchen. Ryan, the head sushi chef, brings culinary artistry and generosity to his creations unmatched to any counterparts in the entire triangle area. So grab a seat sit at the sushi bar; you're likely to be impressed.

I enjoyed my 1st experience here it was awesome. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable. Our sushi was delicious and reasonably priced. Great for a date night for two or a night out with girlfriends. I discovered this eatery on accident. Will definitely be returning when I'm craving sushi! Check it out.

I just can't say enough about the service here! The food is amazing, we all know that! Matt was here alone today and managed to give each any every table the most attentive and personable service. I just can't say enough...Zuma gets more impressive every time I visit!

I absolutely love Zuma!! I've been there twice now, and each time, I have been impressed. There is a wide variety of rolls and fillings to satisfy anyone's personal preferences. My friend and I shared three rolls which was more than enough for us. Our favorite out of the three was the Hungry Roll. It had pineapple in it, which confused us a bit at first, but it was seriously THE BEST SUSHI ROLL I HAVE EVER HAD. Love this place and love that they always have a scoutmob deal available too. The only reason I held back one star is due to the fact that my friend and I were the only ones in the restaurant. I feel like it definitely gets busier later though. Would be a really cute date spot!

The food, atmosphere, and service were all amazing. Great spot to bring a first date, or just to grab a bite with your buds. The manager was very knowledgeable and great every table with a big smile and bubbly personality. The food came out fast and very fresh. I definitely will be back for another visit.

So I haven't been the hugest sushi fan in the past, but it's slowly growing on me. I started out with Ru Sans (large buffet selection, good service, fun atmosphere), which I love, but decided today it was time to try a place that wasn't buffet style. This place had all-you-can eat sushi for $15 per person, 3 rolls to start with. I came at lunchtime and there were only 3 other tables that were occupied. OK, great I thought. I could probably get 2 orders in and try some new things. Well, I understand now why they offer the all-you-can eat. After waiting for 25 minutes for the first 3 rolls, I didn't have any time to contemplate my next 3! I seriously sat there for going on 30 minutes for a few pieces of sushi. Granted, the saki and miso soup did keep me company, but the waiter walked by numerous time without so much of a glance in my direction. I was hoping to prove the other reviews wrong, but unfortunately, I can't. The service here is almost non-existent; I would hate to see this place during dinner time! The sushi was tasty, but not enough for me to ever come back.

Good sushi, good prices, good vibe, and good playlist! Had the hungry roll, shrimp tempura, and veggie tempura app. The Hungry Roll is delish, and is a good serving size for one person. The shrimp tempura roll is always a solid choice and the vegetable tempura appetizer is a huge portion for only $5! Good local spot worth a visit.

The Sweet Heart Roll is amazing! The tuna was very fresh and the spring mix that accompanied it was a pleasant surprise. By far my favorite roll of all the sushi I've ever eaten. I always enjoy the fried gyozas.

The first time there it was on fox 5's dime so I really couldn't complain. I do make up for them from time to time and they treated us to sushi. The second time I went on a date night, my companion liked it. In all honesty the sushi is mediocre at best and the prices are somewhat decent. The calamari roll is pretty good. Although I was annoyed with our waitress because she insisted they never served regular soy sauce. I explained how a chipper white guy who worked there who helped me before gave me regular soy sauce. I also explained if you are out just say you are out of it and don't act like he and the regular soy sauce was a figment of my imagination. The third time I placed the order to go, same waitress was there she knew who I was and made sure they got my order out to me quickly. I was kind of turned off by the sushi chefs not making sushi wearing gloves and how someone's order was like literally in my face. I exchanged seats to keep from breathing on their food. Thank God me and companion didn't get sick from our sushi, I hope the people whose order was just sitting there didn't get sick either. It's a cool spot for late night sushi if you aren't a sushi snob, parking is a pain in the culo, it's too hit or miss if I will go back. If my companion wants to check them out again I suppose I will go, other than that I will go to thaicoon on Briarcliff or RA in midtown.

My friend and I ordered the spicy tuna roll, It was very filling and favorable... I also had the miso soup it was okay... could have had more flavor to it. I really liked the staff there they were helpful the timing was perfect and they constantly made sure we were happy with our food. Definitely will go again.

I was sitting at our usual spot at the bar with my husband ...I realized I have been a regular here for about 7 years and never written a review! ZUMA is my absolute favorite sushi in ATL! Fantastic sushi! A great sushi restaurant with very nice presentation and relaxing atmosphere, but Zuma can get crowded during lunch and dinner hours. I cannot get enough of their white tuna it's too good and Zuma also has a great sake a drink selection.

I love sushi/Japanese food and zuma has been one of my tops for years. I have always loved the food here (fresh, high quality, large portions, really great stuff), but after my last couple visits, I have to give service and affordability a nod too. Not only does this spot have a fun new vibe from the young friendly staff, but the prices appear to be lower too. If you enjoy sushi like me, you should give them a try.

Good sushi, good service, good experience. Very deep and tasteful sushi menu with very hearty portions. Staff is very accommodating. Would recommend to anyone who is not trying to break the bank on some upscale sushi joint where you pay 30 dollars for 4 pieces of sushi. Zuma is A1.

Victoria's Secret roll is Mmmmmmm mmmm good. A definite must have on the menu!!! Thank God for 50% off promotions!!!! ;-) Clean and cool location. Good customer service. Trust me roll was WAY too smokey. I like smokey but that waaaaaaaaaay to smokey. Blah!!! Salmon skin was not bad and spicy tuna was ok. Get the fried California roll (sounds simple but it's amazing). You'll thank me later!!

Great sushi restaurant! So much variety. Something for everyone. The Hawaiian sushi roll is outstanding. It's cooked salmon and shrimp tempura with mango. The scallop roll was delicious too. Good quality for amazing prices. Our whole bill for 2 people with 6 rolls (specialty) and salad was 40 bucks. Service was good too. Can't beat it. The highland walk area is really nice and clean. Check it out.

Awesome Sushi! From the outside the place looked totally dead but it was pretty busy that Friday evening. The set up is kind of weird, definitely not utilizing the space to it's full potential. The waitress immediately greeted me with a menu and some water. I had lots of questions and the waitress was very patient and took the time answering them. I ordered the Rainbow Roll and the Scottish roll, both were DELICIOUS!! While reading the menu I noticed some pretty awesome lunch specials, something you might what to check out also....

Fantastic sushi! The presentation of the sushi here is beautiful. The service is quite good and very helpful. But the best part is the freshness of the sushi here. You can taste the quality of the fish they get. The mango roll with chili sauce was to die for. We ordered a second one! Used the scoutmob deal and it was well worth it. Definitely will be coming back for some more.

Visiting Atl and came here for sushi and wine. Wine was great, sushi was good. May have been better, BUT the moment you walked in you were kissed in the face by the smell of FISH. Fishy fish. Yes it is a sushi place however, it should not smell that fishy. We ordered, as we waited a group of 3 well dressed ASIAN guys walked in to check out the place, 2 of them grabbed their noses and left! Im like....well if they left....eeek. Food came out- I smelled it. Wont lie! No smell, which is good. Ate it all and didn't get food poisoning! Nice, simple red and black decor, fairly priced.

Went here for Veterans Day after my friends wanted to take me out to celebrate my military service. It took 15 minutes to be greeted by a host and that was after they saw us come in and said hello to us and opted to eat outside. I'm a huge fan of sushi and sake and this place is mediocre to the various other sushi establishments in Atlanta. The choices of sake went from a price range of $8 to $20, there was no in between and the server knew nothing about the sake. The restaurant was not busy with about two other tables and it took about 25 minutes to get our food after ordering. This was a first time for all of us and I won't be back.

Have been to this place multiple times and loved it. Went here for my birthday and were given the worst service I've ever had in Atlanta. Our table of 6 came in, asked to be seated on the patio and were denied since they didn't have a 6 top outside. No problem. Note, the entire place had about 6 seated tables. The waiter goes "we can't seat you outside so I don't know what you want to do." Well we still wanted to eat so we said we can eat inside. We were very nice and had no problem with this. After sitting, we waited over 10min, fetched our own utensils and menus. Finally we left after the two waiters continued to purposely avoid helping us. No thanks, will spend our money elsewhere. Terrible, terrible. Will never return.

Admittedly the sushi is fresh. But the presentation was messy and it fell apart. We also had to ask for Green Tea several times. We had an issue with our bill the manager refused to come over. Not a pleasant experience at all. I will not be visiting again.

Last night we visited Zuma again after we were told that there had been some major changes. After the experience we had the first time, we weren't sure how it would be. We were blown away. First of all, the customer service is absolutely out of this world. Matthew is the house manager and does an incredible job leading the wonderful waitresses. They are all incredibly friendly, courteous, and attentive. We started out with the beef gyoza and shrimp tempura appetizers. Both were delicious and nice and lightly friend. The miso soup was light and delicious. We ordered a shrimp super crunch, a shrimp tempura, and a spider roll. All were wonderful, but the shrimp super crunch was our favorite. The rice had a nice texture and the ingredients tastes fresh. We were overall very, very impressed. It is so nice to see a restaurant take the reviews they receive to heart and to genuinely try to improve their place of business. Kudos to Zuma for making such incredible improvements. We will definitely be returning!

Went on double date with another couple on a Saturday night. We didn't make reservations, but when we arrived the place was packed. Thought we might have to go next door. But the host was very accommodating. He took our phone number and told us it would be fine to go next door to have a pre-dinner cocktail. I tend to get into habits with my sushi spots. I know what I like ( and can expect ) from my regular sushi restaurants. So, I am, typically uneasy when trying someplace new. Maybe its because we ordered a lot, but I really enjoyed my meal. The white tuna appetizer recommended by our couple friend was a must try. Nigiri and Sashimi fresh as well. They do good, very good actually, rolls here. So if you are into rolls, go for it. Godzilla and I believe Zuma Roll both awesome

I went here for dinner on a Friday evening. The food was delicious. I had the Crunch Roll. I'm not the biggest fan of sushi but it was great. I also tried the Sun Roll, which had salmon. I would explain what they each include, but you can check that on the menu. The rolls are moderately priced as would be expected. The service was very friendly and the waitress was very helpful to us. She made recommendations for drinks and the sushi rolls. The ambiance is great and laid out like you would expect from a Sushi/Sake bar. There is a Yelp deal for this. Definitely take advantage of this if you are going on a date or with someone else. The prices of everything will add up quick and the Yelp deal is great!

I stumbled upon this place while walking around the neighborhood. I love sushi so I stopped in to check it out. It was like an industrial restaurant and I found the staff going through the motions, neither friendly or rude. Once I started to order they got friendly. Need I say more? The food was great. I really enjoyed the flavors they put together as well as the more traditional items. If you like to experiment this is definitely the place to try. I will be back.

I've been a couple times and haven't had a bad experience. That being said, I've never had a memorable experience there either. I really have no reason for coming here as we have a pretty decent line up of sushi restaurants in Atlanta. You can definitely get better quality fish elsewhere in town, so this one doesn't make the cut. I still think it is a decent place to go if you live in the area and don't feel like venturing too far. Also, fun decor!

  • Deanna J.

Black. Red. Shiny. Graphic. A lovely interior. A little bit like walking into a giant lacquered bento box. You might be able to walk in on a Saturday night without a reservation and get seated in a reasonable amount of time. Maybe even no waiting. Trendy but understatedly accessible, with a nice waiter than even told a couple of funnysarcastic jokes. Nice weather? Sushi on the patio! Eating sushi outdoors in hot weather, not recommended. But with an autumn or summer breeze and a glass of white wine. Eat more sushi than you thought your stomach could handle.

I first went to this place right after it opened, and it just seems to get better. To me it is comparable with MF Sushibar, but at a lower price point. It's one of the better in-town sushi places that I have found so far. Everything I've tried has been fresh and tasty. So far I have only been seated at a table once, and that wasn't as good an experience as being at the sushi bar. The table service was okay but it's more enjoyable being involved with the sushi chefs as they do their work. They seem to take pride in the presentation too, which you don't see everywhere around this town. Overall I like the way they have arranged the space, and the dark colors and clean lines are very appealing to me.

I'm really conflicted. On the one hand, our food was FANTASTIC. On the other, the service was AWFUL. For the prices, this place definitely will not become a staple sushi place, but because it was so delicious, it might be a good once a month date night... if we're prepared to wait. My BF & I arrived around 9 pm and because of its location & other popular restaurants nearby, we parked about a block away on Highland near Glen Iris. Zuma wasn't packed by any means- many open tables. We were immediately seated with the paper menus that you mark your order on. The waitress quickly brought us water & green tea, but didn't take our menus. We waited. And waited. And waited some more. From the time we were seated until someone finally saw that our menus were ready, it was nearly fifteen minutes. My BF was almost ready to walk out. We ordered a sea bass sashimi & ponzu sauce appetizer. I thought it had a little bit of a plastic taste to it, but my BF said he thought it tasted fine. I was a little worried at this point because of our poor service. I wasn't sure if the food would make everything so far worth it. BUT IT WAS. Oh my goodness, our food was great. My BF ordered the sashimi plate for one and we were floored by how thick the slices were. I ordered the sato rolls (balls, really) and the Alaskan crab rolls. Both were absolutely scrumptious and huge portions. I would've ordered one or the other if I'd known how much food we'd receive. The sato balls: "A roll filled with eel, avocado, cream cheese, crab stick, shrimp , deep fried and topped with wasabi mayonnaise." (from their website). YUM. My first bite was mesmerizing. The Alaskan crab rolls were stuffed with plenty of crab. Very creamy and fresh. Highly recommended. We were aware of the prices before we went to the restaurant (we always check Yelp before we go!) so there wasn't much sticker shock when we received our bill. However, I overheard a group of women complaining about their bill. FYI- the prices are on the menu when you order! Overally, food great, service eh. If you're cranky, impatient, and really hungry, try a different spot. If you have the time to wait then I recommend giving their food a shot.

I used to go to Zuma several times a month when they had half priced drinks on Sundays....I wish they would bring that back. Overall the sushi is really good, super fresh and tasty. Service can be a little spotty - some servers are great and others need a little work. I also think it's a bit on the expensive side with many of the roles around $12. I would recommend staying away from the blow torched roles, they sound and look cool, but the ones I had were covered in a sauce that (I think) ruined the taste. But overall the sushi is really good.

It was hot as BALLS in that place! Good sushi, but quite expensive. Unless I was with my girlfriends for a night on the town, I'd go to Ma Li or even Harry & Sons to save a little cash. Zuma has a good selection of sushi/sashimi and the same rolls you see pretty much everywhere in town. The Volcano Roll was superb. My heart was a flutter when I saw they had Otoro (from the belly of the blue fin tuna). I splurged for the fatty stuff and it was damn good...cut like butta. I love the location...good for strolling on a nice evening.

I've driven by it for years but had never been until recently. I went last week and had a pretty good meal. I inhaled some kampachi, suzuki, sake, unagi, tobiko, tamago, and the fried salmon roll. I thought the sushi was a maybe a bit sloppy as the slices were a little haphazardly cut and seemed to vary in thickness. Maybe that just stands out because I went to Hayakawa last. Regardless, it's basically a non-issue - I really could care less since I just pick it up, dunk it and cram it into my mouth anyway. It still tastes the same. All of the sushi tasted good though the tamago was slightly disappointing. I usually only rock nigiri, but the fried salmon roll was pretty tasty. I'd get that again. One thing that tasted pretty horrible was actually the water there. Yes, the water. Weird, right? It tasted really funky. They need to check that out. Lemon can make it drinkable though. Anyway, this place was pretty good. It's not Hayakawa or anything, but it's also cheaper and closer. They also gave us $20 in gift certificates to use within the next 3 weeks or so which I thought was pretty cool. I think I may be hitting this place up again soon. 3.5

I hadn't been to Zuma or even heard about it until Groupon had a coupon for it and then I saw a coupon on Scoutmob and was like OK I need to go try out Zuma. I have been here twice, once for dinner and once for lunch. My lunch experience was amazing only because there was no wait and its all you can eat sush for $15, now good sushi for all you can eat, it does not get any better then this. :) The issue I have with Zuma during the dinner time, its a tiny sushi house and being that the sushi is exceptionally fresh and taste amazing, the line is ridiculously long and they do not take reservations. You have to write your name on the list when you walk in and be prepared to wait for an hour or two. The wait is totally worth it, but I wouldn't recommend going there just when you are starving, it will be very painful. Zuma has become one of the fav sushi places. There sushi rolls are hand crafted with such care and the fish is soo fresh, that when you have left overs, the sushi is actually good the next day. Thank you Groupon and Scoutmob for making me find one of my fav sushi places in ATL :)

They are featuring ALL YOU CAN SHOVE DOWN YOUR THROAT for $15. for lunch, m-f from 11 til 3. Good deal and it is a LOT. do not order more than 1 set of rolls at one time, unless you have not eaten in 2 days or you are a sumo wrestler. You will be surprised by the amount of food you'll get. I say the best is to go with friends and all order a different roll, then try swapping, b/c no sharing off the plates allowed, you know what I mean, Jelly bean? Otherwise, the food is high priced and you can get better at MF. Also, I went with a friend who is anti-sushi, and she was hoping for maybe some friend rice and some yakitori (meat kabob or chicken) but they do not have any alternative for non sushi eaters other than the house salad. the place is so nice, but I hardly find anyone ejoying the patio. Is too quiet in there, almost sterile environment.

First of all, I love the location. Zuma is in a very walkable area, so even though parking isn't perfect here, there are plenty of ways to park as close as possible and walk to the restaurant. If you were to cross the street and walk around to the back of Johnny's Pizza, you would find the Freedom Parkway bike/walk path. So, for those of you who frequent this path anyway, add Zuma to your list of great places you can access easily from the path. As for the food, it was great. The sashimi was very fresh and the pieces are all pretty good size. Some of the specialty rolls listed on the menu say you will only get three pieces but we ended up with at least five of each. I also have to mention that the miso soup was great. I don't quite know how to explain it - I think it was a difference in the broth - but it was a little more high-test than the usual miso soup I'm used. to. The prices are a little higher here, although I think justifiable for the simple fact that it's higher quality and certainly fresher. Their wine and sake list is pretty good too. For a nice sushi dinner, Zuma is definitely a great place to go.

Would like to write an update to my previous review of Zuma, and take away a star. Decided to give it another chance and ordered take-out because it was convenient and I felt like sushi. Got food poisoning! Seriously, don't go here. It is a horrible place.

Went here on Friday with Alex O. because we had a coupon - thanks scoutmob! I probably never would have found this little gem because it is a bit off my beaten path, but it was well worth the detour. The food was excellent - we had a standard ginger salad and miso soup, and then sampled tuna sashimi and 3 different rolls. The variety is standard - all your typical rolls, plus some "special rolls" that are similar to what you will find at other sushi joints. The one thing that seemed unique was their technique of torching the top of some of the rolls, making them warm and giving them a smoky flavor (we had one of these rolls and it was delicious). The value here is great - it may not be the absolute best sushi in Atlanta, but for the price I don't think you can beat it. The only thing that keeps me from giving this 5 stars is the front - they have just one hostess taking names, seating people, running to-go orders, AND doing occasional clean up. They also have a large patio that would almost double the seating area if they installed plastic flaps and a few standing heaters. They could also put a small bar in that area for customers waiting to be seated. Those additions (1 or 2 more hostesses, outdoor heated seating, and a small bar) would really put this place over the top.

I came here just for the Yelp deal and ended up blowing a bunch more money just because I was enjoying myself so much (I visited on a Sunday, so I just sat at the sushi bar and kept ordering while I watched a game on their big screen.) Attentive service, no hassle on using the discount and the sushi was good and reasonably priced.

I actually visited this place because of it's good reviews on Yelp. It was ok, but I wasn't as impressed as I'd hoped to be. They did have a nice selection of menu items and we were given an free appetizer because we arrived before a certain time (I think it was 7). We got the white tuna, which I had never had and wasn't crazy about. It's sometimes hard to park here, but we were able to find a spot on the street. The service was pretty decent. They made a mistake on our check and happily corrected it. The decor was red and black, which seems to be the decor of every place trying to be sleek these days. I'm ready for a change. They had a lot of TV's playing the same thing, which didn't bother me, but didn't do anything for me either. Overall, I thought it was just average and maybe not worth the cost.

Never have to wait. I've been several times and sushi has been consistently good. When it is busy, however, service can sometimes slow down. Cool atmosphere

LOVED IT!!! I had a craving for some sushi. I wanted to try something new besides the regular Nickiemotos which is always the safe route and is within walking distance from my condo. So I look online for other sushi joints around the area and came across Zuma. I called in a to-go order of: 1. The Bagel Roll (cream cheese, smoked salmon, and avocado) 2.The Lion King Roll ( spicy tuna with tobiko on top of a roll filled with spicy lobster, avocado, and asparagus) *I subsituted the spicy tuna for spicy scallop* 3. Negi Toro Roll (tuna belly and scallion) *I added spicy mayo* Grand Total of $29.00 They said it would be ready in 20 minutes, I arrived 5 min early with my order ready to go when I walked in. I love the minimalist design, there are lcd tv's lined all the way down both long walls...almost too many if you ask me. ....but back to the food. Everything tasted sooo fresh and absolutely delicious, One thing I'm big on is the temperature, the rice wasn't cold, more like room-temperature, and the various meats were all cold and fresh....I couldn't ask for it any other way. I ate every bit of it and now I'm ready for bed with a cleansed palate and full stomach. This is my new fav sushi spot :)

The first thing I do when going into a sushi restaurant is to meet the sushi chefs and the times I've been to Zuma they have been Japanese so I sat down and was ready to eat. I don't know what it is with Japanese sushi chefs but they have a pride in what they do and make sure their fish is fresh and the presentation is perfect. I have only been there about 4 times (since they are pricey but it's worth it) and the sushi has been great. The tuna was so fresh and the pieces were larger then I get at other places. The only downsize is that the wait staff is a little slow even when it's not busy. I've had to hunt down my waiter to get more sake. Also, don't bring any friends that don't really like sushi b/c sushi is about all they really serve and you're friend will be sitting there starving eating a side salad and miso soup. This is my favorite sushi restaurant in Atlanta, so if you have a little extra dough to spend on sushi I definitely recommend this place.

Zuma Sushi located on Highland Ave in the Fourth Ward is significantly better than the one at Toco Hills off of Druid Hills Rd. Used a groupon to try this one. The decor is nicer, service was ok if perhaps a little on the slow side. It's a sushi bar only, for this location, no Korean food served here, unless there's a separate menu that they didn't inform us about. That being said, the sushi is definitely fresher and tastier than the other location. And overall, above average compared to what you usually can get in town. Prices are typical - expect a bill around $20-30 each depending on how much you eat and if you order wine or not. Parking is available on the street. Didn't have any issues finding a spot, so I don't know what other sorts of options there are. There's outdoor seating, although it's mostly for 2. He did mention that they could put a couple of tables together if need be.

Another birthday party, another cool locale! First impressions are impressive at Zuma. I like the sleekness. I like the modern design. I see why my friend decided to celebrate her b-day here, I get it. The food though, I didn't get. Everything was OK but nothing was spectacular. I mean, people rave about this place so my expectations were probably off the mark which eventually lead to a sub-par experience (woomp woomp). I'm off the liquor so I can't speak to the alcohol. What I did like though is that they accommodated our large group well. We didn't have to wait for the whole party to arrive and we got separate and accurate checks. Good job on that one Zuma. I'll probably give these guys another try on a less busy night and see what gives.

Some of my favorite reviewers gave this place lower scores, and I just don't know why. I have nice experiences with this place every time I go! The location is great. The parking is adequate. They will have valet on the weekends, and during the week, you're on your own. Most of the time, I can find a space on the bridge, and then it's a short, free walk. I was a bit sticker-shocked when I first came here, but found out quickly that they serve generous portions. Like, on the menu, they say that the sashimi is only two pieces per order? It's usually four big pieces, and sometimes, mostly if I get takeout, it is five! I like ginger side salads, and they are good here. Just tried the seaweed salad last night, and that was quite good! Edamame is so-so -- it's very salty! I'm surprised that this place is never super busy -- I think it's one of the better places in town to get quasi-reasonably priced sushi. MF Sushi is so good, but unless you are there for lunch, it's so expensive. I think Zuma is a great alternative for something not super-duper expensive, but definitely not the low end of RuSans.

Good: hawaiian poki app, half off all drinks on sunday night. Bad: non-stop replay of "Howl's Moving Castle" on 10 little LCD screens along the main wall and a five year old fucking around with the dimmer that controls every light in the place.

This is probably a great place to go if you're schmoozing clients and have access to a corporate credit card. If you're just plain hungry for sushi and some passable service, don't bother. I've been here for dinner service twice. Both times I left, I was still hungry and at least $50 poorer. Much like their neighbor P'Cheen, the focus at Zuma is entirely on the presentation. I have no complaints on the quality of their food, but there is little-to-no value for the money here. For upper-crusters and/or people who enjoy wasting cash.

Zuma is my second favorite sushi restaurant in Atlanta --my favorite sushi restaurant is Taka, but Zuma is closer to my house and it's a bit less expensive. I do think Zuma has the best Alaskan Crab rolls in town, though. I've taken many people to Zuma, both Atlanta residents and out-of-towners and everyone has really enjoyed their food. Service can be slow sometimes, and occasionally they have forgotten something that I ordered, but they are receptive and quick to fix things once you let them know there's a problem.

Best sushi I have had since moving to Atlanta. After a horrible experience at another sushi restaurant this evening, I will never stray from Zuma again. Hands down the best sushi in Atlanta.

    (5)
  • Stephanie S.

Talk about sleek! This red, black in-you-phase posh decor is extreme for this little notch east of Atlanta. And what is up with the flat panel tv screens mounted on the blank wall? Is broadcasting movies the new trend in "art" ? Are we finally pass the IKEA mass produced black and white photographs to decorate our favorite sushi bar and have since moved to lighting and visual motion ? If so, then this place is certainly setting the trend into motion. As far as food goes, because isn't that why you are out to dinner, the sushi is decent. Not the quality you would get at some more expensive sushi bars, but definitely not grocery store bought. Let's just say I wouldn't order sashimi here, but when you wrap that tuna with avocado and rice, drizzle some tangy sauce on top, and torch it - it makes for a good twist on an otherwise traditional roll!

My favorite sushi spot in Atlanta....and they run a lot of specials, so look out (half off coupons through them or online sites, etc.). They only do sushi, but they do it well. Always fresh and good menu, different than most places, lots of spicey things and creative combinations of fish and sauces.

Yum! Went to Zuma last night for dinner with a few friends. My husband and I ordered a few of the veggie rolls and the veggie tempura. The rolls were nice and fresh and the tempura was the best I've ever had. The breading was light and crisp. Our server was great and the decor was very modern. Loved it!

This place gets 5 stars for food quality at a reasonable price. I love sushi. I have high standards because I've had sushi in places on the west coast that I still dream of... that and I worked at a premier Japanese restaurant for 3 years. The first sign of a great sushi restaurant is an all Japanese staff - no offense to anyone, but sushi making is an art and its just in their genes. Zuma is way fresh, owned and run by Japanese, and priced about the same as Rusans. The chefs care what you think and how quality their food is. Service is great - rushed due to the high volume - but we never want for anything.

I visited just after purchasing a Groupon. Got there before 6 pm with only 3 tables and in an hour the whole place was filled up - must be the Groupon effect. The joint seemed to be run by 2 wait staff and 2 sushi chef. Wait time for the food isn't too horrible, but my waitress was so busy (taking care of take-out orders, busing and serving other tables, etc) that water was not filled and food set on the counter long before being brought over. To her credit, my waitress was amazingly busy and not standing still for a moment chit-chatting. It seems they should've anticipated more help needed on a weekend night following Groupon. Another complaint is that one of my items ordered was not available and I wasn't told right away. As for the food, I had the sashimi combo and there were 3 pieces of each type of fish (I think there were 6 varieties). Each piece was generous in size and quite fresh. The waitress seemed to have a hard time telling me what the varieties were when ordering. I also had a few rolls and they were decent (nothing too special). Pretty good value given the Groupon discount. I just wished there are cooked food like grilled fish and some vegetable selections on the menu. Parking on street only but I found a space with no problem since I got there early.

Meh. There isn't much to say about this place. Clean. Cute. Friendly. The food? Like I said, meh. I didn't finish anything and think, "mmmmm, I wish I ordered more!". I hate going out to dinner and walking away wishing I had gone somewhere else.

Fresh, never crowded, open late, reasonably priced. And the sushi is excellent! Most important...it's consistent. Been going for several years now and have found it to be an easy and familiar place each time.

I've been to many sushi restaurants in the Atlanta restaurant and I must say that Zuma has the freshest fish here. It's a little pricier than most Atlanta sushi restaurants but definitely worth the extra buck. I believe it's korean-owned but the quality of fish is better than the Japanese-owned sushi restaurants here. Sometimes service is a little slow but the food has never disappointed me. One interesting and nice surprise: Everytime I've ordered a la carte - if say I order 1 order of salmon sashimi - (it says on the menu that 1 order = 3 pieces) I've gotten 5 pieces. And this goes for just about every fish I've ordered from that menu. Also, there's valet right next to the restaurant but don't bother. There should be plenty of street parking right out front.

  • Lindsey G.

Excelent wait staff and fresh sushi. Most of us don't drive far enough down Highland avenue and that is why this place is undiscovered. Good place for either casual or dress. Neat little shops also close by but Zuma is by far the best sushi and they even give you a coupon to come I back I know I will. It's easy to spend $25 and the coupon takes $10 off of that. We'll be back.

Zoom Zoom Zuma. Zoom Zoom Zuma. Za za zoom zoom zuma, za za zoom zoom zuma. I just love the name of this place. And the sushi is near the best in the city, easily as good as the likes of MF, at half the price. I consider myself a complete and utter sushi snob. I can spot low quality tuna across the room; and most sushi in Atlanta, sadly, is of poor quality. Its a shame that you have to pay through the nose for AVERAGE sushi in this city. Seriously, sushi here is pathetic compared to Chicago or the West Coast ((end rant)). Having said that, Zuma offers perfectly average quality sushi for normal prices (mostly). Last night we had four tasty rolls (shrimp tempura, rock-and-roll (eel), rainbow, and negi hamachi), plus two seaweed and cucumber salads and green tea for $45...and they gave us $10 off coupons for the next two visits, which would lower the tab to $35, which is wayyyyy reasonable. They have two classes of rolls, the regular rolls which are $5.50 each (a bargain!), and the special rolls which are $12 each (a little pricey, but still 60% the cost of MF's). While tasty and fresh, the rolls are just average. Rolls in my opinion, are often used to mask sub-par quality. I think the straight up nigiri is where this place shines, because the quality is there. The salmon is buttery, the yellow fin is nicely marbled, and the tuna is getting toward dark red, not pink, although still not the deep reddish purple that I like to see and not quite as fatty as I like. Nonetheless, it rivals the quality of ANY sushi place I've been to in the city, and with good portions and a decent price. Plus, and this is the BEST PART, they have televisions set up along all the walls and last night they were playing Kurusawa's Seven Samurai. My date was probably a little irked, as I tended to let my eyes drift up to the subtitled masterpiece a bit too much while we ate. Last time I was there they played Mulan. eh. What I'd really like to see is some classic Godzilla action!

Great food, awful service. Lets start with the good. I ordered a sashimi plate and my girlfriend ordered a couple of sushi rolls. The sashimi was excellent. Big pieces, very fresh, and very good. The rolls were also exceptionally good. Now, the bad. After being seated we filled out our menus to be given to the waitress. We sat there unattended for over 15 minutes waiting for someone to take our order. If the place was packed it would be understandable, but this was 9:00 on a Thursday. The place was less than a third full. For the price we were paying the least they could have done is expedite the process of getting the food. Once the food came out we were better attended to because we received a different server, Go here if you want good sushi, but only if you are extremely patient.

  • leigh k.

Ate here last night. Overall, the sushi was very yummy, specifically the nigiri we ordered, but everything was drastically overpriced. And it's unfortunate bc the quality is there, but if really was just too damn expensive. So i probably won't be back. Even though i live right down the street.

The food was really good, but I'm laying in bed right now feeling like death with food poisoning.. It was either the salmon roll, the lobster tempura roll, or the shrimp tempura roll.. Be careful :(

Despite all the reviews to the contrary, Zuma is quite reasonable in price. This is coming from a girl who lives paycheck to paycheck, so they must've lowered their prices due to the economy or complaints. Regardless of price, this place hits the spot! The decor is very Japanese chic, but you don't feel obligated to get dressed up to come here (& on the flip side, it wouldn't be a problem if you were nicely coiffed). For a wallop of protein, try the Rainbow Roll. I like a little more spice, so I usually opt for the simple Spicy Tuna Roll or the Nanban Roll. On a side note, I went here recently on a Monday with a friend & we each received a $10 off gift certificate with our bill to use for next time. Again, maybe it's the economy that's driving all of these discount incentives here, but I'm a huge fan! Check Zuma out!

  • Tracy P.

This was a nice experience! This was my hubby's first time at a Sushi Bar.The ordering was easy with a check off menu that you hand to the waitress! We ordered 2 bowls of Miso Soup and had a variety of rolls (california, shrimp and advocado, fried shrimp, and a bagel roll). They were all good. The even gave us $20 dollar gift certificates for our next visit and our bill was only $21. They did mess up one of the orders and it took them a little more time because the guy forgot to make one of the rolls but wasn't a big deal to us. We will be back!

There's one thing keeping me from going back to Zuma Sushi--the prices. I don't remember ever paying this much for Sushi. Sure, it was pretty good, but all I can remember is the price tag.

    (2)
  • Katherine D.

Erin W. is so right about Zuma. I had sticker shock, for sure. Sure, everything was good. But the tuna wasn't that much better than Ru San's (on a good day). I've heard the prices are much better at lunch but haven't been yet to find out.

    (3)
  • Kelly T.

Yum yum get you some is all I can say about Zuma. I have been spoiled by MF and even by Harry and Sons somedays, with super fresh fish. I was a bit skeptical about going to Zuma yesterday for lunch- would it be fresh fish? Yes yes yes it was. The lunch special of $15 all you can eat rolls is a great deal. You start with 3 rolls, then order more once done with them. The miso soup was delicious, the salad was fresh and crisp, only complaint was that the dressing was a little weak and not too gingery. The rolls were regular size, the rice was fresh and the fish was fresher. Danger- your eyes may be bigger than your stomach. The rice will get you and fill you up!

    (4)
  • C M.

I love this place. The fish is always fresh, the food is consistent, and the prices are extremely reasonable (though not so cheap that you'd worry about what you are eating).

Wasn't impressed. Glad I had a groupon. The vegetable tempura was not tasty and the tempura sauce was actually a gyoza sauce. I had the Godzilla Roll and it was only ok. The miso soup and ginger salad were better than ok. I doubt I return.

Ever since moving to Inman Park I have been a big fan of Zuma Sushi. Though they stopped the all you can eat sushi lunch I still enjoy coming for lunch and dinner alike. The seafood they use always tastes fresh despite being five hours from the nearest ocean. The wait staff is always friendly and eager to assist. The decor is a dark red and black which sets for a calm and relazed enviroment to enjoy yourself. Ya like sushi ya like cool asian decor ya like Zuma.

Excellent sushi accompanies high tech atmosphere to make for a favorite and unassuming Atlanta dining spot. I definitely recommend ordering, at least a small bottle of saki and a bowl of miso soup to get you started during the winter evenings. (uring the warmer days, I suggest sake and edamami.) Both are perfect. As far as sushi goes, "it's simply delightful" ... "a wonderful delicacy", which are common phrases muttered as a I dine at Zuma. The service is also friendly and great.

    (4)
  • Katie S.

Best sushi and sake list, but you pay for it. I love sitting on the patio in the summer, and at the sushi bar in the winter. The waiters are knowledgeable about the extensive sake list and the managers are very friendly. For example, I was with a group of 15 and they gave us complimentary plum wine at the end of the meal. You don't need to order as many pieces of sushi here as you would at RuSan's because the cuts of fish are much larger. The crab and seaweed salad is my favorite item on the menu. Also, I highly recommend you get the fatty tuna, it's the best in town! I've never had to wait to be seated and the service is attentive but not overbearing.

This is by far my husband and mine's fave sushi bar. We have been VIPs since it first opened a few years ago and it has rarely let us down since then. The sushi is excellent and fresh, with many creative rolls. We LOVE the cruch salmon appetizer and almost cried when they changed menus and it wasn't listed. (They have since added it- don't fret!) It's a great date place, but also awesome for groups too! Keep it up Zuma!

We walked in the door and it smelled VERY fishy. ThIs was a huge turn off...as it should be at any sushi restaurant. We decided to give it a try anyway because the yelp reviews were so good. We ordered about 6 rolls. Two of them had a very noticeable fishy flavor that made me unable to eat them. This has never happened to me at a sushi restaurant, not even Ru San's. For this price range I expect MUCH better than that. My boyfriend and I are crossing our fingers that we don't get food poisoning.

I am almost hesitant to write this review because I feel like I'm giving away one of my best kept lunch secrets. But: Zuma has the best lunch special in town as far as I am concerned. Two premium rolls, soup, and salad all for $10. And their rolls are delicious.

  • Chandu R.

The $15 unlimited lunch is to die for! I don't know if I'll do any other place/option for sushi anymore. They give you sooooo much incredible sushi. I recommend bringing at least 4 people and make sure everyone orders something different and shares. Otherwise, you'll have a lot of the same sushi, but either way, the sushi is well worth the $15. The Super Crunchy Shrimp roll is seriously heaven. Everything is really fresh and well-prepared. Even their simple spicy tuna roll was just fantastic. I seriously am shocked that there wasn't a line around the corner for this place at lunch....I'm sure there will be once people catch on! I am shocked that the price is so low because it's not the usual boring sushi options on the all you can eat menu...it's like really good sushi that I would pay $12+ / 6 pieces anywhere else.....you will not regret going here....and invite me to go w/... :)

I was completely wowed by this place from the moment I walked in. The decor of the restaurant is totally chic, with little flat screen televisions on the wall playing Anime clips to really put you in the mood of being in an ultra modern and super hip Japanese restaurant. The service was incredible and our waitress and waiter (yes, we had two!) were extremely knowledgeable and eager to share their information about the menu and their favorite selections. The food was definitely worth the listed price. We ordered one of the combo plates which is the chef's choice of sushi and sashimi. I'm like ordering my sushi as individual pieces, but at the end I decided to also try the Zuma Roll (Unagi and snow crab with avacado and some other fun stuff) and it was probably the best sushi rol, I have ever ordered anywhere (no joke). I would give this restaurant 4.5 stars if I were able. The minus half star because I wasn't crazy about two of the types of sashimi on our combo, but otherwise every other piece was excellent. I will come here the next opportunity I am able.

The best sushi I have experienced in ATL. Always fresh. Always delicious. I have eating at both locations over a dozen times and have no complaints whatsoever! They always have deals on groupon and half off depot. If you want sushi in Atlanta I cannot emphasize this enough. Go to Zuma!

    (4)
  • philip j.

Solid if unremarkable. I'll give it 3.5 stars since they usually have some kind of deal going to knock down the price some. You'll never leave saying wow what an incredible meal, but it's one of the better sushi places in the area.

  • Leiana J.

I have been to Zuma frequently because they often have deals (scoutmob or groupon) and they are just down the street from where I live. As I sat down to write this review, however, I struggled to remember anything that was particularly remarkable. Zuma is a great place to step out and grab a few rolls. It's pretty good food and nice decor and adequate service- no joke (or I wouldn't go back). It is not a place for which I would go way out of my way for, but great for a quick stop in. As a quick tip, with the recent groupon and scoutmob deals, it has been more difficult to get a seat. You may have to wait 20 or so minutes for a table if you don't get a reservation.

  • Paul S.

Another run to a local raw eatery for some scoutmob dining! Had a chance to try several rolls and some hit the spot and other completely missed the target. It balanced out though and we had a nice meal. The ambiance is modern with a little flare. The service, a tad slow for an empty restaurant. The verdict for me is still out, so I'll let you know. We'll swing in again sometime soon.

Tried the sushi for the first time yesterday for lunch. WOW. Food was amazing. They have an all you can eat sushi rolls special for $15.00 Well worth the price. You start with 3 full rolls off their menu and then if you can still go from there, get another roll!

Bought a Groupon on a whim for Zuma. It was well worth the money. Luckily I got a parking spot right in front of the restaurant. However, it is street parking so be mindful of this when going. The place has a great atmosphere. It was pretty laid back and relaxed. We received prompt and attentive service throughout the meal. The lobster tempura roll was superb. Will definitely be going back and enjoying some great sushi. And maybe some sake next time.

I've been to Zuma probably half a dozen times now and it's become my girlfriend and my go to sushi spot. There prices are a bit high but the food is so delicious it's worth it. I recommend the Zuma Roll. It is possibly my favorite sushi anywhere in perimeter! And it is definitely one of the best sushis I've ever had! Be warned, though, that it is one of the most expensive food options on the menu but the serving size is much larger than any of the non specials. Other than the Zuma roll I recommend the shumai for an appetizer (even though the serving size is very small, these little treats are so tasty!) and if you like sushi I really recommend all of the other options. The service here is alright (not great but not terrible) but the food here is really what keeps me coming back so I would still give them 5 stars even if they had bad service :-) My only complaint is parking can occasionally be difficult on Friday and Saturday nights because of all the bars along North Highland but that really applies to most places in Atlanta...

Beautiful sushi, and the thing is, it tasted as beautiful as it looked. On the other hand, it seemed like the place was owned by a Japanese yakuza, our waitress and waiter replete with a heavy Japanese accent, a slight disregard to service, and some of the most wonderful tattoos. I could see the sushi chef making our sushi, and he definitely knew what he was doing. I wasn't sure why it wasn't packed when I went, but I liked the pencil system they had- you go in, and you mark what you want. Seems like a good way to avoid miscommunication esp. when their English leaves you wanting... On another note, the service wasn't awful like everyone said, it was just a super long wait for water to be refilled. They kind of just left us alone for a while at a time... But the food was so good I couldn't bear to take away a star.

Overall: Decent food, service needs to improve. May return if I'm in the area but I wouldn't come back just to eat here. Came to eat for Sunday dinner. Food: Fish was fresh and there seemed to be large selection of items. Nothing really stands out but everything I ate was good. Got the vegetable tempura, flounder-octopus-fatty tuna 2 pc sushi, tuna and avocado roll, and the falcon roll. The specialty roll was massive but good. They give you a lot of fish which is nice to see. Service: Waitress was nice but overall service is what kills the place. Sat down promptly and was given a glass of water. After we received our food, never once saw the waitress until the check. No check up to see how our food was, glass was empty and I wanted a refill, and took forever to get the check. Also, its was a mistake but the waitress grabbed a plate to clean up and put it down on a piece of fatty tuna sushi that was still not eaten. At $9.50 for two pieces, it kinda sucks to have a dirty plate place on top of the sushi roll. She appeared to be sorry but said nothing else and walked away. Atmosphere: Old Fourth Ward is a cool area of town. Decor inside is nice although a bit dark. Nothing really else mentioning. Parking: It's all street parking but I've never had an issue finding a spot. It's free so I'm not complaining.

All I wanna do is zuma zoom zoom...remember that stupid rumpshaker song? What ever happened to that group? They kept making the same song over and over, with success...at least for a while. But at some point their sound got played and they faded. Zuma Sushi is a lot like that "rumpshaker" style of music, it is so typical. I'm waiting for the thrill of sushi to burn out of popularity; there's way too much mediocrity and worse. Zuma is located in a cookie cutter loft/apartment neighborhood in the Old Fourth Ward. While O4W has lots of character, places like Zuma represent one of many posers trying to ride the success of its revitalization. The times I've gone to Zuma I always feel like I'm waiting for the staff to take a bow after a flopped attempt to act like a good sushi restaurant. The actors...ahem, I mean servers were never rude and the set...I mean, restaurant is always clean, but there is nothing special about this place. With all the good to great options in Atlanta, I say go elsewhere. 2.5 stars

The food is pretty good. The sushi is a little over priced and the service is not that great, but I enjoy the atmosphere. It's a great place to drop in and get a few sushi rolls late at night. Some of my favorites are the Godzilla Roll, Southern Sun Down Roll and Seaweed Salad Roll. Just don't count on seeing your server often. I usually have to get up and find someone when I want to order more food, refill my drink, etc.

I really like Zuma. I've gotten carry out and eaten there. I'm not a sushi expert, but I've certainly had bad, mediocre, good, and great sushi. Zuma has good sushi. The fish tastes fresh, the rice is sticky, and the rolls range from basic to fun. The last time we went, we started with gyoza, which were delicious, and got spicy tuna, "trust me," and shrimp tempura rolls. My dude also got a deep fried California roll, which he seemed to enjoy. The fancy rolls all seem to be dripping in spicy mayo sauce, which I suppose is what diners want, but next time I'll ask for no mayonnaise. Otherwise, it's a nice atmosphere, not terribly overpriced, and our server was excellent.

Always enjoy coming here (this was our 4th time). It's never to crowded & the service is good. My daughter and I LOVED the Bagel Roll; it's so simple yet delicious. Loved the fresh broccoli on the vegetable tempura...wish it was more than just two pieces. Not my #1 pick for sushi but I never leave here disappointed! We also tried the Super Crunchy Roll and it was not bad at all. Liked the miso soup as well.

I've visited Zuma at least three times now and each time I can say the sushi was good, good but nothing special. Usually this is a place I only visit with a scoutmob. They do have an all you can eat lunch buffet - I haven't tried it just noted that it existed. The service is a little slow especially given that I have never seen this place busy. The staff can be seen watching tv, texting their friends, and chatting with each other. Overall not drawn to come back regularily.

I guess the prices have been lowered recently because this was the first time I have gone and they seemed quite reasonable to me. In fact, I thought some of the rolls were quite a great value and good quality for the 5 or 6 bucks we were paying for them. Overall this is going to be my go to in atlanta for good quality everyday sushi place shifting away from Ru Sans. Its no MF Sushi but then again i'm no rockafeller :) Definitely check it out if you haven't been, I will be back for sure. Get the spicy scallop roll here its fantastic!

Really, really, really bad experience last time I was here. I truly used to love this place so it's very sad that I can't go back. We each ordered three rolls off the all-you-can-eat menu--the minimum order--and couldn't finish them. They wouldn't let us take them to go because the menu states no 'take out.' Well, that's not what take out means. And we actually didn't order any take out. Take out is when you order food but you don't eat it--any of of it--in the restaurant; you take it out to eat it--all of it. If you order food and eat any of it at the restaurant then it's simply not take out. What the menu needs to say is that you can't take any rolls on the all-you-can-eat menu 'to go.' We misunderstood this because it's not explained correctly on the menu. I guess I should have asked--I thought it was weird that they were talking about 'take out ' on an all-you-can-eat menu. But I shouldn't have to ask. If I have to ask, then it's not explained well. Ok, if I order off this menu I can't take any of the food I order 'to go'--that makes sense. So we got into an very unfortunate heated exchange with the manager when we asked for the rest of our food 'to go.' He clearly didn't understand the difference between 'take out' and 'to go'--again, a crucial distinction here, and they've clearly had this problem before because he immediately threatened to call the police if we tried to leave with the food. Seriously? You know what, they can keep the $5 they stole from us because we couldn't finish the food. The quality has gone down a lot, and it wasn't all that great anyway.

Great sushi, blah customer service. They generally are on Scoutmob or some other deal site. Grab one of those and check them out. Skip sitting on the side patio, it is depressing.

The good: The sushi here is better than most in Atlanta. Get the chef's choice, and you'll be impressed. If you like fancy rolls, those are great here too and artfully assembled. The prices are just a notch lower than most fancy sushi places in Atlanta. It's lightyears better than that over-hyped sushi chain that starts with an "R." The bad: The service is slow and inconsistent. I've been to Zuma twice, and the first time we never could get full menus. The second time many requests were unfulfilled, appetizers came quickly but food took forever, and we had to hunt down a waiter to close our bill after waiting a very long time with no servers in sight. The food quality might bring me back for a third try later.

Zuma Sushi is nothing really to write home to mama, but its a regular enough staple in my rotation to review. The atmosphere is modern with mood lighting that would spark a little smooch action between your sake bombs. Overall the food is good, not mouthgasm good, but I am definitely satisfied with my regular rolls of Rainbow, Spicy Tuna, Shrimp Tempura, Volcano Roll...I could go on and on, but I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. Good thing I purchased a Living Social deal this week...I shall see you soon Zuma!

I've been going to Zuma for a few years - actually, probably 5 years. While I generally think Zuma is good, I will tell you that I have seen a decline in their quality over the past few years. Alternatively - maybe I have just elevated my sushi game. The honest truth is I have elevated my sushi game. Sorry, that sound pretentious but it's true. What to say, what to say. OK - In general, the sushi is good, OK quality. There are a few things to avoid: 1) They have recently switched to metal chop sticks. I absolutely hate them and ask for wooden ones instead. I can't grip metal chop sticks and the type of metal they are made with makes my teeth hurt. Weird, I know, but whatever. 2) The Volcano Roll - Avoid this roll if you follow any advice. It comes "on fire", which is cool, but unfortunately, the sterno that makes it light on fire leaked into the plate and made the sushi taste horribly. This roll will haunt my future sushi experiences. 3) We had a great deal from Scoutmob. Check it and them out. It's free and worth it.

I've been going to Zuma for years. It's nice to have a sushi place in Inman and the location is great. There's usually street parking...and one tip, there are a few spots for "future residents" at the apartment complex next door that are open after 6p. Pros - * Tasty, fresh, good quality sushi. * Service is usually pretty good. Most of the servers we've had in the past are very knowledgeable about the menu, which is key at a sushi place. It's nice to get more of a description on roles, if needed. I don't mean description on what the menu tells you is in it...more of the flavors to expect. * Pretty large menu with great variety. * Clean restaurant with a nice size patio. Cons - * There have been a few times where the wait (for food, not to sit) has been pretty high. A few of those times the server blamed the kitchen, which I don't think is cool for a server to do. * Can be a tad pricey compared to competing sushi restaurants. Overall...good sushi, good price, good deal!

I guess I was deceived by the location and aesthetic of the place and expected it to have some personality, but it's kind of just a sushi bar. There really isn't any atmosphere, the service was kind of bad actually, but the sushi was good. It's attractive inside and the patio was nice, but being on the patio sort of just made me wish I was across the street or next door at a restaurant with a little more charisma. I guess when you're talking sushi, there's not a lot of room for a wow-factor: it's either fresh or you're sick. It was definitely fresh, but I'll probably just get take out next time.

Ok so I was lured in here by the scoutmob coupon like most people it seems like. Zuma has perhaps the worst sushi I have eaten and the "50% off" scoutmob only applies up to $15 so it was extremely expensive (I mean I expect sushi to be expensive but I also expect it to be of a certain quality). All of the rolls and sashimi were unimpressive but the toro was particularly repugnant, which is especially disappointing because a) I love toro and was craving it and b) it is one of the more expensive items they offer. In addition to the poor quality of the food, the service was atrocious, at times I felt as though we were being deliberately ignored. Bottom line: don't be suckered in by the prospect of a deal with scoutmob, spend your time and money somewhere you can get a decent meal.

I went here using groupon. I called before they open and ask them if it is ok that we have two coupons in one table. The guy that answered said yes but sounded very irritated that I even called about it. When we got there, we showed it to our waitress and she said it was fine. We ordered our food and she came back to tell me that she was new and did not know the rules and that they cannot accept two in one table. Another waitress came with her and with attitude, told me that my coupon was useless because it was old anyway. I had to sit there and had to argue about it. That one waitress treated me like I was a free loading liar because she kept on asking me over and over if i REALLY called and that she wanted me to prove to her that I just bought the groupon 2 days before (the expiration date on the groupon is PRINTED and it doesnt expire until August). They both walked away and never came back to my table to tell us if they were going to accept it or not. The whole time we had to sit there left wondering what was going on. That waitress with attitude kept on walking by us and never said a word and our waitress made sure she was too far from us to be asked. ANYWAY. all of the food that we order came and that groupon issue was taken care of. Now lets get down to what we ordered: 1. Viagra Roll - I highly recommend such a wonderful blend of flying fishes with avocado and cream cheese and beautifully covered with colorful caviar. And it was d-e-lish! 2. Volcano Roll-every sushi place seems to have their own version of this. I was not too big of a fan of their version. Most Volcano roll i have had in the past is fried of some sort, but this one I think is the cheaper version. It had rolls filled with nothing but rice and cucumber with the cheap imitation crab meat then covered with fresh salmon in some reddish mayonnaise sauce... but the fresh salmon is drowned in this sauce u cant even taste the salmon anymore. 3. Tuna/Salmon Roll: plain and simple. tuna or salmon + rice, wrapped in sea weed... I soooo couldve done this at home at $5.50 a roll. 4. Philadelphia Roll/ and some name i cant remember: its pretty much the same thing as #3 but with cream cheese and $1 more per roll. All in all we spent about 55 buckaroos for these food (tip not included). We didnt order any drinks either. The ambiance of this place is ok and the location is in highlands so there are interesting characters everywhere. We went on a Saturday night and they have complimentary Valet but we actually got lucky and found a parking closer than valet and it was free. The price are decent, and when i say that, that is "sushi standard price" You can google their website and look at the prices. Their website is terrible with their menu because it just tells u the name and price of an item and no description or a picture. I will come back here, but only if I have groupon. And this time, I will make sure to have only one coupon per table.... me and my friends will occupy the entire restaurant. :P PS: The servers here mainly wore flip flops.... i just thought that was odd considering it's a restaurant ... just saying...and there were chips off of our plate.. i thought that was kinda tacky

Im torn as to how many stars to give Zuma. The sushi was great! Rolls were good, very satisfying portions of fish that definitely equate to the prices on the menu. I asked if they had hamachi kama and the waiter said he had never heard of it....hmm.. Service was not good at all, very slow, I actually ended up getting a water pitcher and refilling my tables glasses - and the server actually came over and watched me do it instead of taking the pitcher to do it himself. Our order was not correct and we had to keep reminding them what we needed... BUT - I would actually chalk this up to a one time less than stellar experience and would go there again just because of the quality of the fish and the rolls being good. The gyoza were good as well...nice thin skins and perfectly fried.

~ Meh. I've experienced better. ~ I tried this restaurant because my boyfriend had a Groupon. It was an early Friday evening and the restaurant was pretty empty. Only us and two or three other small groups were there. The first thing I saw as I stepped in to the restaurant was "zumazumazumazuma...(in Hiragana Japanese)" writing on the wall. This cracked me up. "Mazu(i)" means "taste awful" in Japanese. Seriously who came up with this wall art!? --- FOOD: 2 Stars We had the Tuna Tataki as an appetizer, two rolls with raw fish, and a fried one called Sato Roll. This was a mistake. Each sushi piece is dipped in batter and deep fried. Not a tempura style, tasted more like a corndog. It got that nasty smell from the recycled cooking oil. Gross! ATMOSPHERE: 2.5 Stars (4 minus 1.5 as a punishment for not doing enough research before opening a foreign themed restaurant. Come on, like you didn't expect the japanese poeple at a japanese restaurant?) Stylish red & black decor is nicely done, but again I just couldn't get my eyes off of those funny writings. STAFF: 2 Stars Our server took a good care of us. But there were two other female servers wearing flip flops. I dont usually get to see servers in flip flop at any date destination restaurants and I thought this Asian fusion restaurant was one of them. Since it was not a busy time it seemed they had a plenty of time to kill. Their chatting was a bit too loud I could easily join the conversation from three tables away. Not cool. OVERALL: 2 stars. They have to try harder to meet the quality to their price tag! Or soon some real deal sushi masters will come kick their butt.

There was a time when I frequented Zuma for their volcano roll a few times a month. I loved everything about it: its creamy mayo based sauce, the perfect amount of spicy and the blow torch finish. At some point there must have been a staff change and a different sushi chef took over because the quality declined. After several mediocre and disappointing volcano rolls about the last three or so visits. I haven't been back. I still enjoy their pot stickers and the tuna roll is nice. I'd eat here if I was in the area, but I will no longer make a special trip.

I saw a Groupon for Zuma, and after reading some reviews and the fact that the Groupons were valid at two locations, I bought 10 of them. Little over the top? $15 for $35 of sushi, hell why not. I've used 3, and all of my experiences have been less than satisfactory. DECOR I love the black and red theme. Gives a classy vibe. It's quite a small space, but doesn't feel too cramped. Majority of the place is set up for couples. I'm starting to develop a major problem with the little tables at sushi restaurants set up for couples. Sure, it's great if you want to play footsies, but it get's cramped if you are sharing sushi Not to mention most places bring out oversize plates for the sushi. Grr.. FOOD Tuna Takaki is great. Major reason for the second star. Sushi is not satisfactory. Have tried many rolls and nigiri. They excessively use cream cheese as a filler in any roll that has it. Any tempura roll seems to have been in the oil too long, and comes out oily and too heavy for sushi. Perhaps too much tempura as well. Nigiri sushi came out around room temperature. Gross. After my most recent experience, I had an upset stomach all night long and eventually had to vomit just to get to sleep. WTF!? SERVICE Cute staff, and pretty friendly. Not too overbearing, but not as classy as the decor exudes. I doubt I'll be back there again. Time to give the N Druid location a shot. Otherwise, Groupons for sale...

This place is pretty good. Especially compared to Rusan's, which I did NOT like. Nice variety on the sushi and rolls. Cool, trendy atmosphere. Price isn't that bad, unless you're getting some of the crazy specialty rolls. Friendly staff, even if a little slow at times. They offer free valet, but parking farther down the street is never a hassle. As of now (3 months in Atlanta) this can be my go to sushi joint.

This might be my new go to sushi spot! I went here for lunch and got their $15 all you can eat sushi special. The deal includes a house salad, miso soup, and a variety of sushi rolls. What made Zuma stand out to me was the RTT (Rice to tuna) ratio of my tuna avocado and white tuna cucumber maki. There was a LOT of fish; this pleases me. In the past I've been troubled by all you can eat deals polluted with paddies of rice... Zuma's generous portions of deliciousness was a welcome surprise. The service was less than exceptional, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt because I came in during a shift change and blame it on a small miscommunication.

I would have given Zuma 5 stars if not for an unpleasant dining experience the other night. Zuma is one of my go-to restaurants in Atlanta. The food is top quality (much better than the steadily declining Ru San's) and the sushi chefs are amazing. My "usual" is a Chirashi Don and I must admit I'm kind of picky but the sushi chefs never seem to mind my special requests and always give me extra pieces of fish. For the most part the rest of the staff is wonderful, but the other night was beyond ridiculous. Our server (identified as "Neul Hae3" on our receipt- she never introduced herself to us) was terrible. I have never felt more disrespected at a restaurant. She spoke to us (party of four) as if we were children. When we ordered sake she warned us not to go "crazy with the sake bombs" before she even brought it to us- we didn't even have any intentions of doing sake bombs, we just wanted to sip our sake throughout dinner. Her condescending tone and rude facial expressions literally made our jaws drop. To add to this, she spilled not only a glass of water (which she tried to clean up with one of their paper menus instead of going to get a napkin or towel) but also some dishes of soy sauce. Her overall service was horrible- I'm not sure if she is new (I had never seen her there before) or what but she definitely seemed to have no desire to make our night pleasurable whatsoever. She didn't even smile once the entire time we were there! Luckily I love Zuma too much to let this experience keep me from going there again, but you can bet I won't be sitting in her section in the future. I am disappointed in Zuma because this server is way below their normal standards; I hope they speak to her and advise her to step up her game because she is the type of server that can discourage repeat customers! I do want to reiterate that my other experiences at Zuma have been delightful. All of the other servers I've had have been very friendly and personable, and a few in particular have been incredibly helpful when it comes to choosing our orders. I recommend Zuma highly as long as you don't sit in "Neul Hae3's" section!

Now this was some good sushi. The rolls were large and were a fairly good price. MUCH better than I expected for sushi @ 11pm The decor was understated but not super uptight and they had the neatest little aluminum chopsticks ever! Our waiter was attentive but didn't hover, I like that a lot. I'll drive across town for this place next time I get a sushi craving at a quarter till midnight!

Every time I visit Zumas, I have a good time, the service is a little slow but the sushi rolls are great..especially with the scoutmob app (your meal is half off ) so that makes it even better, but my friends and I go quite often and have never been disappointed.

Love the tuna tartar. Sushi is pretty good. Location is excellent, but parking is a challenge. Service is good. Not quite a 4 star, but definitely good enough to snag so pretty decent sushi late on a Friday or Saturday night.

The sushi here is excellent, but it's a bit pricey by my standards. I'd rather eat at Ra or Ru San's for either quality of value. It's worth using the Scoutmob that's currently running, though.

there are basically 3 things to get here if you don't eat sushi or seafood (I DON'T.) Gyoza, fried pork dumplings with a delish sauce to dip. VERY GOOD. loved them. they're like pot stickers, please reference the posted picture of them in the blue and white bowl that looks like a boat. Veggie Tempura, was pretty good, the mushrooms and onions were great. the sweet potato was still a little uncooked in the middle... and the broccolli is not very tasty fried. You can get unfried version of pork dumplings [something like maishu or shu mai] which the waitress said were smaller than the Gyoza. all of these things are listed under appetizers by the way. If you order a soda, it comes out of a can. always knocks you down a par in my books. the sushi my friends orderd was beautiful, but i heard tell it "had a lot of rice in it." which apparently means something to sushi eating folks.

What a find!!! I was offered a groupn cert a few weeks ago, and after checking out my fellow yelper's comments, decided to buy the cert. My wife & I thoroughly enjoyed excellent sushi and very good service!! We are used to quality japanese/sushi places, and this ranks right up there. We shared 3 appetizers/rolls (all very generous portions) and one vegetable tempura. Add in a glass of wine and 2 glasses of hot sake, and total is $55, before groupon!! What a steal. AND, did I say the quality was excellent!! We will return. I don't think you could go wrong with anything on the menu.

I have been to many citrated restaurants in the US and elsewhere. I went to Zumba while in Atlanta for lunch and was very disappointed in the freshness of the fish. The shrimp tempura roll and the spicy tuna roll, as well as the white tuna roll all had slightly fishy tastes, the mark of less than fresh ingredients. To me, sushi should never have a fishy taste and the presence of such a taste is a big turnoff. Maybe it was just a bad day, but I was very disappointed.

Not nearly as impressed as I was last time. The scoutmob is still a steal though. We ordered several rolls this time. The Zuma Roll was good as was the basic Philadelphia roll. The spicy tuna, viagra, and volcano rolls were throwaway rolls. The service was just as bad as the last time. Without the scoutmob, I'll probably try somewhere else before I come back here.

I love this place! Classy decor, polite staff, great sushi. Coupons show up on halfoffdepot.com all the time. I love RuSans but this place is classy and great for a nice date. Not too pricey either--sushi rolls go from about $6-12, so you can tailor it to your budget. Reasonably priced bottles of wine also. Also has a nice enclosed patio for summer months.

How is this place never packed? I have to assume I'm going at off peak times, because it is delicious and romantic and has excellent reviews! It's great for spontaneous date night, whether you're dressed up or not. Amazingly fresh sushi, I'd say the best I've had in Atlanta so far. It's not cheap, but it's fair for the portions. I could have done without the TV with the bad signal behind the bar showing whatever talent show was on that night, but if I were sitting at a table I'd never have noticed.

I would eat here every. single. day. if I could. I absolutely LOVE Zuma. Some of the best sake sashimi I've ever had. Seriously fresh stuff here. I would've given them 5 stars based solely on their food, but the service is what killed a star for me. Even if the place isn't packed, we tend to know that we're going to wait awhile for our food. I've grown to accept this, but it makes me apprehensive to go sometimes. On a lighter note, when we DO get service, it's really great. There's one waitress that we generally get, and she really busts her ass to do her best. Perhaps they're just a wee understaffed. Either way, still one of my favorite places.

Not bad. Definitely not the best sushi ever, but it's better than the highly coveted "MF Sushi". The service is really fast and friendly too. The sushi chef is Asian, not sure if he is Japanese, he might be Korean... but the sushi is not bad at all. Rice is on the stickier side, which I dig.

First off, a warm greeting at the door even from the back is always a GREAT sign of great customer service! I was pleasantly surprised at a nicely decorated sushi restaurant with laid back black, grays, and reds on the walls. The attire worn by the staff complimented the theme very nicely! I really liked what the sushi maker was wearing and appreciated his friendly smile as I passed by. It's a nicely set up joint, with TV's on the wall on the right where you can watch a personal show and a set of pencils for marking what kind of sushi you would like. I really liked the lunch prices, can't be beat for the quality of the food! A delectable array of Combo #1 left me wanting more but feeling QUITE full! You know that a restaurant has satisfaction in mind when the California rolls are nearly the size of half-dollars but no smaller than a quarter rather than a dinky dime! The freshness of the food nearly caught me off guard! NO signs of staleness or pour coloring in the fish or the rice. The Miso soup was even quite delectable: balanced and not too salty and not too watery in the very least! If you choose to fine dine here, at least give the green iced tea a try as your drink. The waitress was attentive and had a very nice smile and kept an eye on me, despite my little seating arrangement around the corner, so this made me feel like she was trying her best to be attentive and aware of my needs! All in all a FOR SURE great place to be and socialize. Be sure to bring a friend and a belly ready for a GREAT experience for the price! Another plus would be it's location: it's not far from the hotels that host the yearly ''Dragon Con'' so it's a great stop for Japanese culture fans!

RA Sushi and Zuma are typically my go-to sushi spots in the city, but my last experience with Zuma may make me reconsider my split loyalty. Yesterday I wanted to place a take out order after I got off work. It was around 4:45 (little did I know they were not open yet) so I called with no answer. I called again around 4:50, a man answered and I asked if I could place a take out order. He then informed me, rather dryly, they didn't open til 5. I responded, "oh, I guess I'll call back in 10 minutes then......." As I was thinking, "is it so much of a burden to just go ahead and take my order a few minutes early?" I guess so. He then hung up on me without another word. So of course I did not call back and instead took my business to Gekko sushi up the street. Here, I had a contrasting experience: I called around 5, only to find out they didn't open til 5:30, however the woman was very accommodating. She went ahead and took my order and said it would be ready within 10 minutes of them opening their doors. THAT is how you treat a customer.

I just had the Dragon Roll and a Sapporo beer. It was effin delicious. Service was pretty good. Place was little to dark for me but I enjoyed it. I love the neighborhood too.

The best sushi I've had since I left Cali! We came right when they opened but even as the dinner rush came in the wait staff was super attentive. Back to the sushi, the chefs were surprisingly young but clearly skilled...I'd say I'm pretty deft with chopsticks but my some sushi just won't stay together...the guys at Zuma have this figured out, it was flawless AND delicious. So if you're a sushi-noob check it out! I would personally love more unagi rolls sans shellfish....cuz I will tear me up some unagi 5 stars Zuma

Five star for the fact that this is a greatly decorated nice little hideout tucked away in the heart of atlanta. i have always been on the lookout for great sushi within 5 miles of my home and not having to drive out to either buford or duluth for some good asian food. i tried zuma last night as i happen to have Groupon to use (which by the way is such a good deal stealer!). the place was packed at around 8pm. luckily we made reservation. as i mentioned, it is quite a small restaurant but its wonderfully decorated with japanese writings on the wall which adds more to the authenticity. the best part that i like about asian restaurant is that all the staffs are asian which further adds to the authenticity. our server was young and friendly even though i think the staff could be trained more to recommend us some drinks such as sake or some of their popular sushi rolls. as it was our first visit, we were a little overwhelmed with their choice of rolls. we were brave and chose the Zuma roll (eel, masago, avocado and snow crab), with their sashimi combo plate. the price for the food was reasonable considering their sashimi pieces was ultra thick, chewy and fresh! ($25 for 18 pieces sashimi, chef's choice) the sushi roll was not the least bit disappointing too. the crab was definitely not imitation crab meat, it was fresh and i could taste it distinctly amongst the rice, eel and avocado. it was light on sauce which doesn't hide or cover the great taste of all the ingredients. also, i noticed many other tables, that their order of cold sake comes in a very special and unique flask. which is worth a try for sake lovers. i put four star cuz i believe the server could be more proactive and engaging. she was merely taking our orders and left us alone. i would have appreciate it if she could engage us a little more. also, their sushi was great but their sushi rice could be a little stronger on the vinegar as it was missing the fragrance of sushi rice. however, all in all, i am glad to have found this little haven and will definitely be back, with Groupon or without.

This is a beautiful Sushi Bar in Atlanta. I went there with my friend. The ambience was good. Though they were playing a chinese movie in a sushi bar. I thought that was odd. Food was delicious. The young waitress was very sweet and she gave us suggestions to try and it tasted really good. We got a $10 off certificate for the next week. Dont miss the home made Sake. I will be visiting this place again for sure.

This place has really really gone downhill. I agree with other posters that the service stinks. Our waiter never spoke to us. They screwed up our order and then made us wait 20 minutes as punishment whilst they remade our sushi. And it was pretty mediocre sushi. I get better at the $10 buffet at Ru Sans. The waiter never even apologized for the mistake. I am done with that place.

So I'm kind of a sushi purist. I don't get rolls that have fruit in them or are covered with weird sauce. Not until I establish a certain level of trust with a place, anyway. The first few times at a sushi joint, I get straight up sashimi and traditional rolls. That being said, here's what I thought of Zuma... The sashimi was effing awesome! Really thick slices of fresh maguro, beautifully presented, though a little overpriced, I think. I also had salmon and yellow tail nigiri, which was decent. $5.50 for wakame salad is just too much. The service was fine, but then again the place was practically vacant on a cold Wednesday night. The decor was nice, contemporary, though a little sterile. I'll bet its a little more homey on the weekends when there are more patrons. So, I'll definitely go back there, to try other things. Not the best I have had in town thus far, but pretty freaking good.

Zuma is a fun place to go to if you are not a sushi snob. We got to Zuma a little before 9 on a Friday night and was standing at the hostess desk for almost 10 minutes before being help because there's no hostess on staff. Let's talk about food, everything is drench in mayo of derivative of mayo. Most people would like this place because they are a lot of rolls. All of the roll that we ordered including spicy tuna, white tuna, trust me roll and bagel roll were mediocre nothing special but the TUNA TATAKI is exceptional. It's not too shabby thanks to good company or maybe the alcohol.

What a find! I'm in Georgia on a business trip and I was afraid that I wouldn't find any good sushi out here but fortunately for me I was wrong. I ordered the sashimi combo for myself and it was perfect dish for me. The fish was super fresh, delicious, and they are generous with their portions..I plan on eating here a few more times before I go back home. Ambience: cool asian/modern feel Food: Come here for the sashimi!!!! (the sashimi looked much better than the rolls) Price: Reasonable to pricey Location: Midtown, cool funky lil neighborhood

Good (Insert diety name of choice) I love this place!!! I can't eat rice/carbs at night, so you'd think sushi would not be an option. WRONG!!! It's perfect. I never knew plain old raw fish could be so scrumptious. I have eaten here before and loved it, but this time, I ate strictly "super traditional Japanese customary sashimi". Hai! (Supposed to be Japanese dude sound...) Damn it was good. Seriously... We got: -Mackerel - Kind of just tasted like "generic FISH" but not offensive. -Redfish/Snapper - yum. -Eel - my fav, although not raw. -Taka (Octopus) - a lil too chewy ewy for me but flavor was very fresh and meat was firm -Fatty Tuna -Tuna Tataki -Tuna Tartare (okay, so we really like tuna!) -White Tuna - seriously, texture nearly like chicken. ZERO fish flavor. -Edamame. Not too much salt like some places. -Green Tea - excellent quality. This was a dinner for two (date? hmm, haven't decided what it was yet...) but awesome ambience on a Sunday night @ 9 and service was excellent. Heck, it was so good I forgot my sweater! And they were nice enough to save it in a carryout bag so it didn't have any food smell on it when I picked it up on Tuesday. EAT AT ZUMA. YUMZ PS - If anyone attempts to leave a negative review, I will track them down and torture them for months until the pain is too great and they apologize and remove their negative review. : )

Pleasantly surprised thanks scoutmob for the 50% coupon and Marsha. The service is kind of scatter brained. If someone can give me suggestions for a place outside of MF sushi that has the freshest fish....please let me know. I think I found it Zuma. I started off with the Hamachi sashimi and salmon sashimi...it melted like butter in my mouth. If the sashimi isn't good then it's not a good sushi place in my humble opinion. This place has plenty of rolls for the lukewarm sushi eaters but NOT enough fried roll options for the non sushi eaters who try to be sushi eaters....take them to Russan's and endure the LOAD techno circuit queen head banging nonsense they force on their customers...yuck

I'll give you 3.5 (why is this not allowed btw!? half starts count for something). Anyway, the sushi was great, the sake was yummy, the decor is nice. Buuutttttt, while the service was friendly, it was super duper sllllloooooowwwww. Wish they had a wider drink selection and could maybe rearrange the space to fit some more seating on busy nights. But fair prices, good food and the valet parking are good enough to get me back.

With a late night craving for sushi, we decided to drop in on Zuma around 10 PM and even with it being late, service in no regards was sacrificed. We ordered the soft shell crab for our appetizer and it came out piping hot oozing with the goodness of freshness served with various vegetable tempura. We ordered sashimi for two and the both the fish and clam used was extremely fresh. I love how Zuma keeps it simple and strays away from serving the food in a distracting array- opting to focus on the food. When our check came, we were given (2) $10 coupons to used in the next month so I will definitely coming back soon. Definitely one of the best sushi places in Atlanta!

Great sushi and incredible service. Located in a very nice area. Huge sake' selection. Excellent outdoor patio. I did get asked for food while dining on the patio from the one bum in the whole area, but it was all good.

This place is awesome. My girlfriends and I had a Scoutmob to use so we gave it a try. The rolls were the best I've had in Atlanta (I recommend the Trust Me roll), edamame was perfectly salted, and the miso soup was delish as well. Ambiance was nice and the service was great. Everything was served quickly, but didn't feel rushed. To top off the experience, when we couldn't find the Scoutmob on the mobile app (something weird was going on), the manager was apologetic and gave us the employee discount instead. Overall, fantastic food and customer service!

I went a few years ago, and the sushi was not fresh. It tasted slightly off, and though the restaurant was empty it took a long time for us to get served. I would not go back, nor ever recommend it to anyone.

Perhaps the worst sushi I've ever had. Tastes worse than my running shoes do. Was visiting Atlanta for a week and went there one night, worst mistake I made in Atl.

I came here on a Friday night. Parking sucks because parking all around here sucks and they had one poor valet guy for both Zuma and P'Cheen and he was completely overwhelmed and it was, like, 100 degrees at 8 PM and it was crazy. We get into the restaurant and there appears to be a group of three people waiting for a table just ahead of us. We wait for at least five minutes before anyone acknowledges us even though they all keep zooming past us. I guess they were a little crowded and it was freaking hot inside. They have an outdoor patio (which must be absolutely steamy) and the door to the patio was open, which gave a nice warm, sauna-like feeling to the entire indoor part of the restaurant. I almost passed out because we were just standing there in the heat with no one paying attention to us, and then more people started to show until there was a hot and angry mob of at least 15 people standing right by the front door waiting for someone to talk to them. They finally spoke to us and said it would be 15 minutes and we agreed to wait, while being jostled around in the heat by other angry potential diners and people who were trying to bust through them to make an escape. When we were finally seated, it seemed marginally cooler at our table but that was probably just because I finally got to sit down. It was still hot only now I was transferring all my sweat to my vinyl chair and having a nice time slowly unsticking my legs from said chair, one at a time, throughout the entire course of dinner. OK, enough about the heat. The food was good (I had a bagel roll and the volcano roll, and tried the spicy tuna and the dragon rolls). They forgot to bring our edamame and then forgot to take it off the check but fixed it. The wine was good, although that poor chilled Sauvignon Blanc was no match for the heat and we had to chug it fast to keep it from boiling. The staff was nice once they talked to us but they seemed very overwhelmed, maybe because there was a Groupon (we used one). I would probably try it again but maybe on a weeknight when I wouldn't have to deal with the crowd.

YUM! Trust me on the Trust Me roll, so good! The Tuna Tataki is excellent too. As a Bay Area native and current NYC resident, I was worried about the quality of sushi while land locked this summer. Zuma was excellent! Go there!!

I decided to check this place out with a friend randomly since we were both craving sushi. Since our original choices were all closed this was the next best thing. A big plus since it was open late. To my surprise the service was great, very attentive and the decor was very cute. I thought the them fit very well together. Although the place is small, I have never had trouble getting in. It's a great place to just chill or go on a date. The ambiance is just right. Although the prices are not the cheapest, it is still pretty affordable. Keeping in mind Japanese food is never cheap to begin with. For the few times I have gone here, I have been very satisfied with their sushi. I like how they have vegetarian sushi options and it's always well made, the presentation is nice, and it is definitely fresh. It might not be the best vegetarian sushi I've had, but its definitely one of the more consistent and better ones I have tried in Atlanta. The food comes out pretty quickly, which always helps when you are starving. Only con is parking can be difficult to find. Lots of side street parking so if you are here during peak hours, good luck!

First and last time I will ever go to Zuma! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!! From WHOM you may ask? Ryan the manager (AKA the owners son?)! The sushi there was very mediocre. We ate and paid out. As we got ready to leave, my friends walked in and sat at the table next to us. Ryan the manager came up to my friends table asking if they are going to eat there. Not even bring them menus or giving them a proper greeting as you would normal do so with a new table. Then he goes on to ask if we knew each other. I replied yes and he asked if we wanted to sit together. I'm sure my friends did not want to sit at our dirty table. Plus, we were on our way out the door. Ryan goes on to tell us that we can not sit at different tables for coupons! Mr. Manager needs to get his facts straight before talking trash to his customers!!! We had paid out already! With no coupons or whatever the heck he was talking about! My friends got so upset they got up and left to! Great Managing skills Ryan!!!! Insulting you customers!!! After I explained to him that we had already paid our bill with no coupons... he did not even apologize. He just shrugged his shoulder. That's a awesome way to keep customers!!!! Just like other yelpers that gave Zuma one star.... I would give them a ZERO if I could! I was so disappointed and insulted. Never going back ever!!! Not to mention that the tuna was not fresh at all and I was feeling very sick after I got home!!!!!! I looked up the health dept score 67???? Are you kidding me!!!! They are handling raw food!!!!! eastatlanta.patch.com/ar… Don't EAT there you will get sick!!!!

Thus far, some of the best nigiri and sashimi I've had in our fair city has been from Zuma. In fact, I would be happy to five-star 'em if it weren't for the inconsistent service and portions. The waitresses, clad in black and red kimono inspired digs, are....pouty. And while the gals are pretty, it comes off less sexy and more like their dogs just died. Sometimes we get lucky though and the host waits our table--he's attentive, friendly, and pout free. My primary complaint is the starkly inconsistent portion sizes! It's hard to tell whether the beau and I get shafted when we order the Sushi and Sashimi Deluxe, or whether he just always gets star treatment when he orders it with someone else. But the bottom line is this: We order it, we get a fair amount of succulent morsels--enough to be content, but not fully satiated. When he dines with someone else (the same menu item, mind you!), he sends me incessant texts about the mountains of delicious sashimi he's scarfing down, "2 much 2 finish!" and "so full!" What the...are you kidding me?! So while I highly recommend their product, and really do think the fish is fresh and delicious, I'll personally feel better about eating here when I don't have to wonder whether I'm getting the wrong end of the stick.

A friend and I went here on a Friday night around 10ish. I was expecting the place to be a lot busier, but we were the only other table there. Service was good but the waitress messed up my order twice. I had ordered salmon sashimi and ended up with maguro. Later when I ordered something to take out, she messed up the order again. I realized her mistake when I looked at my check. She had charged me for a different roll. In the end, everything was sorted out and my friend enjoyed her tempura roll. Food wise, the sushi roll and sashimi were okay, nothing special. For the price, I've had better quality sashimi at other restaurants in Atlanta. The atmosphere and outside seating is probably the best thing about this place. So if you're looking for a place to hang out with friends, then go for Zuma.

OVERPRICED with so so service. I tried them out as a part of delta dining program. I went in and it was about 5 to 10 minutes before i was recognized. There was no one at the front desk. thank goodness i called my order in. The place was 20% full so i have no idea where the hostess was i just figured i went on an off day so i gave them another try. Met a friend there for dinner about a month later. We were immediately seated and told a waitress would be out to take our orders. 15 MINUTES later my stomach is eating itself and not so much as a glass of water. When questioned the hostess strugged and said she couldnt take our order the waitress would. I simply dont "wait" for food. After another 5 minutes we decided to eat elsewhere. not likely to return

I went back to Zuma last night for a friend's birthday. I was absolutely blown away. Everything was as fresh as possible and soooo f-n tasty. I love the sparse decor and can't say enough about the food. Sooo fresh and sooo good. LOVE , Love, love! Everyone dining with me agreed it was the best sushi any of us have ever had. Amazing.

Zuma has some of the best sushi in the city. For those who have reviewed the place as pricey they are probably used to dumps like RuSans. For the quality and quantity received at Zuma it is more than reasonable. The fish is close to if not the best in the city. I generally only eat Nigiri and sashimi but the few rolls i have had a bite of were very good also. Service is much much improved in the last year or so. My sashimi recommendations - Uni (Urchin), Sake (Salmon), Kampachi (baby yellowtail), Saba (Mackerel) and Hotate-gai (Scallop)

This was some of the better sushi I have had in Atlanta. The service was fast and accurate. The quality of the sushi was very high. One thing I would like to see improved is the wait area of the restaurant. It seems to be fairly popular, but there was no where to stand before you were seated except in the doorway of the restaurant. The addition of a small bar to get drink at while you wait would be a welcome addition.

Really I think this is the best sushi in the city. Everything I had tasted super fresh, they got our orders out super speedy. Its definitely not the cheapest sushi in town, but you get what you pay for. I had a melapple cocktail, fabulous. I definitely give the food 5 stars. As for the service, it was great. But when we finished eating and were waiting on our check it seemed like our waiter had just left. We finally asked for our check from another waitress and she took care of it. What kind of waiter just leaves? It was strange. The other problem we had was when we went to get our car, the valet had just left. I mean, yeah, it was cold, but hello.. we needed our car keys.. So I had to go back into the restaurant and the chief had to run around looking for the valet. Other than those issues, it was a good time.

I am no sushi snob, I just like the way it taste. My brother on the other hand is a sushi snob. He enjoys all types of sushi, while I tend to keep it simple. We went here a last weekend and had the table filled with difference sushi rolls...Unfortunately, there is no way I could name them all, but what I can say is it was goooooooooood! I do have a service complaint...once we were done we were sitting there letting the sake kick in and the staff were trying to damn near kick us from our table...there was one other group waiting but ...SO WHAT. We were asked 5x if we were done....I wanted to say 'Look when we get up and leave then we are DONE". That aside, the sushi was great.

Yummy rolls- good value, with most standard rolls around $5-6. As with most sushi places, service is quick. Decorated in modern sleek red and black- a nice cool respite on a hot day. Love the cool lighting in this place- they have fun hanging lanterns and some interesting little spotlights (don't know how else to describe). I'll have to update more as I try the different items on the menu, but with the basic tuna and salmon options, I couldn't go wrong. I wasn't fond of their spicy tuna though- it was too chopped and there was ginger chopped into it. I'll stick to the regular tuna and ask for the spicy sauce on the side. The times I've been have been pretty hit or miss. The restaurant itself smells strongly of soy sauce and fish. 1st come 1st serve street parking can be trying at times during peak hours (better on weekdays).

LOCATION: Easy-to-find location on Highland Ave. PARKING: Street parking only. We rode our bikes and found a bike rack right outside the restaurant. By the way, there is bike trail named "Path" that runs very near the restaurant if you are in the local area and enjoy getting out into the fresh air. ATMOSPHERE AND DESCRIPTION OF RESTAURANT: Seating options are indoor and outdoor. Both seem very comfortable. We chose to sit at the sushi bar. The sushi bar was at the far end of a dimly lit room with a couple of TVs playing behind the sushi chefs. I found the restaurant to be relaxed and somewhat romantic. This place is definitely a good "date" restaurant. It was relatively quiet with little ambiance to brag about. FOOD: We were very happy to find that Zuma has an all-you-can-eat lunch menu 12:00-2:30 (M-F) with probably 3-4 dozen selections for only $15! Their entire menu (to include the all-you-can-eat menu) can be found on their website. They allow you to order three rolls initially. Then, if you are still hungry, additional rolls can be added to your dining one roll at time. They make the sushi right in front of you - so, the all-you-can-eat option is MUCH better than what you find with sushi buffets where the freshness may be lacking. We especially enjoyed the Ika siso roll (squid with mint leaf). It was FANTASTIC!! We even ordered extra after we each had our introductory 3 rolls! We also had the following rolls: Yummi Yummi roll (crab stick, sesame oil, sriracha, cucumber), Salmon skin roll, spicy hamachi roll (yellowtail, cucumber, spicy mayonnaise). I also had my regular Philadelphia roll. All of the fish was fresh and very good! CONCLUSION: I gave the restaurant four stars, because I typically like a livelier atmosphere. Otherwise, Zuma is a great place for fantastic sushi!!

Fabulous dinner experience! I went to Zuma for a birthday party; there were 15 of us and we all got served the correct food and drinks in a timely manner. Very impressive. Myself and a friend split 4 rolls--spicy tuna, spicy salmon, Philly and Super Crunch. I try a Super Crunch roll at every sushi spot I go to, and this one was very fresh and just crunchy enough. No out layer of crunch, just a little bit in the center. We also had some gyoza's--the fried kind--which were fab. My biggest wish was that Zuma was larger. This bday party tried to get a reservation for 8 p.m. and they were booked. 9 p.m. was the soonest we could get in, but with Pcheen right next door, the later time worked out just fine. Zuma was also incredibly cheap for all the food/drink we had, which was (as you can imagine) a pleasant surprise. Happy Zuam'ing!

We went to Zuma for dinner last night. I think they've lowered their prices since some reviewers were there last, because on average, the rolls were $2 cheaper than other yelpers have listed. The fish was good quality, not the best ever, but not bad at all. I liked the creative rolls. I had a "Trust Me" roll, which was a combo of spicy tuna and spicy yellowtail. It was drenched in sauce, which was not so good, but it was a tasty roll. My only complaint is that the decor is a little sterile, and I was creeped out by the weird anime movie playing on tiny screens throughout the restaurant.

Zuma has THE MOST imaginative rolls and it makes all the other sushi joints seem...ordinary. When I lived in Japan, they didn't put all these crazy ingredients in their rolls and it took awhile to get used to the crazy California roll. But Zuma has taken it to the next level in gastronomic artistry - especially with the Chef's Specialty Rolls. Their signature Zuma roll is worth the drive from D-dub. It's bbq eel and red roe on top with snow crab, mayo, and avocado in the roll. I don't even like mayo or avocado but the flavors all mixed together are quite sensational... If you like spicy, you should also try the Super Volcano which is torched scallops in spicy sauce on top of California Rolls. Two more reasons to go are: it's never crowded during lunch and they have a pretty awesome patio. The prices are fair considering they give you rather large portions and each roll has at least 12 pcs. Bonus points for them ALWAYS giving us a $10 coupon for the next visit.

I hate to give such bad reviews, but I've been here twice and had roughly the same experience. When I walked in, the place actually smelled like seafood - not a good sign for a sushi place (fresh seafood doesn't taste fishy and a good place knows how to avoid the odor). Sushi was okay. nothing special. We decided to go back a second time since maybe sushi wasn't their forte, despite having the word "sushi" in their name. Got some clear noodle dish that was pretty bland and not presented well. Don't waste your money - there are plenty of better places for equivalent pricing.

I used to eat at Zuma at least once a week. It's AMAZING, definitely the place to eat whether you want a cheap sushi lunch or to go all-out for a great pricier dinner. Try the Trust Me roll. Trust me, it's delicious.

Went here last night, and I was really impressed. I've been going to Harry and Sons and Ru Sans, and this place definitely has better sushi. The Spicy Tuna Sashimi appetizer was HUGE and really tasty - lots of spice. The Philly roll was pretty good, though not my favorite. We also got a great calamari and rainbow rolls - the tempura on the calamari roll was awesome, and it was like $5. Get the baby squid appetizer, too, soooooooo good. You won't be bored waiting for your sushi - there are about 6 small flat screens on the walls over the tables featuring Japanese movies with awesome subtitles ("I have eaten too many beans, I fear if I do not eat some rice too I will die"). Definitely my new fave sushi place - loved the interior too, very hip and trendy. I'm coming back soon, Zuma.

This is my favorite local sushi spot. I went yesterday, on a Tuesday, and my only complain was a little too much service. I'm no expert, but the Falcon's Roll was my favorite. I'd recommend giving it a shot.

I had never had sushi before. I hate fish you see...so to say I enjoyed the sushi lunch special at Zuma is saying a LOT! The service was friendly and fast. the food was fresh and tasty. The atmosphere is nice and I've since returned 3 times with 3 friends who all loved it. . Recommended.
