15 minutes on patio and no service. Never will return. We were seated in the sun, moved once and still no server.

This is the second time I have been to this Tin Lizzy's. This time there was a live performer, so the place was dark and loud. We ordered a couple pitchers of margaritas which they are known for. The margaritas are really good and there are plenty of options. we ordered fried pickles and chips and salsa and a couple of skillets to share . The fried pickles were way to salty. And the skillets were really lacking, first the rice was not really cooked and the dish was overwhelmed by the amount of rice and very much lacking in terms of other toppings.

I keep wanting to like this but the only thing consistent is just how awful their food is. The only reason we go is bc of work and their ability to handle large lunch crowds. There is a special place in ... for Mexican style places that do not include free chips and salsa. You have to pay and sadly, they're not even good. The guacamole is bland and tastes like mushed avocados only, yet somehow with even their flavor stolen, no salt no like, awful. I've gotten a couple different dishes and will say that the grilled chicken has never been cooked fresh. It will be hard, darkly colored, something suggestive of at least a day old. Some positives, their fried pickles are outstanding and the drinks are also strong (happy hour). In all, I'd suggest literally any other tex mex place over them but they are annoying convenient to walk to . Wish they could get it together.

Atmosphere: 4.5 stars, trendy/unique environment with cool decor. Makes the experience fun. Food: tres amigos appetizer (5 stars) great spicy salsa, very well seasoned chips. Had three of the tacos, definitely only needed two tacos, but good flavor a (3.5 stars). Service: 3 stars, didn't check to refill often enough, not overly friendly.

I've had this misfortune of dining here a few times, and the food hasn't disappoint since the first time I come because I knew the food would be shitty. Right from the get-go, I could tell that this place sucked due to the fact thata MEXICAN taquaria uses flour tortillas (American) instead of authentic corn tortillas. Not to mention the lack of service. The brilliant server decided to not write down our order, checked on us our times (drink order, food order, brought our food, and the check). People come for the food but they also come back for the service, so I don't understand why the GM would allow such mediocre service. Please close your doors, which will within the next year or two, so a better, more deserving restaurant could take your sorry ass place. You have multiple locations to rob people of their money and time.

0 stars. Guacamole and queso is out of a can. This is bullshit "flexmex" fusion cuisine for Anglos. It embodies everything I despise in chain food and fusion. They don't even have enchiladas or refried beans. The food is also pricey for the low-quality. Beer selection is meager and unadventurous. No Tecate? Are you serious?

I've been trying new items during my last few visits here. My regular order has now shifted from the Southern Comfort Skillet to the Buffalo Chicken Nachos. The celery gives the dish a much-needed freshness. Try adding extra hot sauce to it! It gives it a terrific zing and pop. :) Although the proportions of sauce and chicken have varied the 5 times I've had it, it's always tasty. Also, for some reason, the queso is always found at the bottom of the dish and most of it is stuck to the paper rather than on the chips. I've also tried 2 tacos here for the first and probably last time. The Chicken Philly Taco was just a salt bomb. Not only that, but the chicken itself had a strange texture and aftertaste to it. The Spicy Tilapia Taco was also very underwhelming. It had no spice at all and the portion of fish was very small. I'll definitely keep coming here, but I'll stick to my nachos in the future.

As a student at Emory, I'm upset I didn't come to this place sooner. My friend and I came for dinner on Sunday and we had a great experience. First of all, $4 house margaritas that actually taste delicious. They are smaller in size but if you are not looking to drink a ton, they are perfect. We also fell in love with the tots. Actually, we were more in love with the spicy ranch sauce that we ordered with the tots. The queso is great but spicy ranch is another world of yummy flavors. Tots are perfectly crunchy and fresh as well. My friend and I both ordered skillets. She got the southern comfort while I ordered the chicken churrasco. Loved both dishes and the fries pickles on the southern comfort was amazing. One low point: service was a bit slow. Servers were kind of all over the place and took a while to bring our drinks and food. However the food and drinks quality made up for the tardiness.

What I ate: Half skillet with grilled shrimp, fried pickles, guac and chips Visit date: August 4, 2014 First time? Yes. I think these words sum up my experience best: grease and cheese! OMG, this was hangover food to the extreme. My half skillet had a few grilled shrimp and lots and lots of cheese. It also had rice and some grilled peppers. It tasted fine, but I definitely was pulling off some cheese layers. On this visit, I also tried fried pickles. They were, strange, but the strangeness drew me in to eat more of them. They were like fried zucchini, but sour. I probably have a fried pickle aversion now. The guacamole...well, let's just say I'm a guacamole snob and we won't go there. Though the food isn't what I'm used to, this place is definitely great for groups. Our party of 15+ was easily accommodated, and they got our orders right! Also, they split the bill without even asking if that's what we wanted. You get a point for that Tin Lizzy!

This is one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants! The staff is always so friendly and accommodating. We love the food, but tend to stick to our favorites so I can't speak to the whole menu. It's certainly not a "traditional" Mexican restaurant so it would be silly to expect free chips and salsa; this is very clearly Tex-Mex so be aware and know the difference if this is something you're expecting. It can come off as a little a la cart but again, it's Tex-Mex so that's totally normal. The drinks are always perfectly made; just strong enough ;). It's always very clean and the service is quick. A great place to grab a bite and drinks while watching the game!

We had a fairly decent experience at this Tin Lizzy's location - for a Friday night I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly we were seated and and how painless ordering and receiving our food was. The space is quite large - including a patio with a lovely view of the Marlow's Tavern patio, it's clean - everything is brand new, there are tvs on almost every corner - it'd be a great place to catch a game, they even had a live singer performing acoustic top 100 hits as we were leaving. For our entrees, we decided on the build your own nachos option (which automatically come with melted queso blanco, shredded lettuce, jalapenos and sour cream - unless otherwise specified) , with optional additional toppings ranging from $0.99 to $3.59 - which of course we took advantage of: We chose grilled shrimp, beans, guacamole, and chopped bacon. The shrimp isn't really integrated with the nachos, it's just a skewer of four pieces placed on top, and unfortunately neither is the guacamole - which is placed on the side in a tiny cup - go for the avocados option instead. However, overall I enjoyed the nachos - they use seasoned tortilla chips, which I enjoyed more than I thought I would. The portion size is quite large as well - it's definitely more than ehough for one person -and perfectly shareable for 2-3 people. In addition to the nachos, we each got a few tacos, which honestly, were pretty disappointing, I barely finished either order. The first one I went with was the "Lowcountry Taco" (grilled shrimp, chorizo, grilled onions, corn, tater tots, ranch, red pepper), which sounded good, but was just a mess - there was no distinct flavor, all the various toppings were mushy and didn't combine well. I also ordered the "Super Greek" (gyro meat, tomatoes, lettuce, feta cheese and tzatziki sauce) - which again sounded good, but was the complete opposite, the meat looked weird and completely unappetizing; I love tzatziki sauce it cold save anything but unfortunately it was but a drizzle on this poor taco. Some of their taco options are too ambitious and I would just steer clear of the tacos next time and go with some of their more simpler entree options like their quesadillas. The price range is very decent, fairly typical of your average casual sit-down - for two people it was just under $25, and a majority of the menu options are below $10. Parking is a snap at Emory Pointe as there's a free ((for three hours) parking deck on site for patrons.

I'm just... underwhelmed by Tin Lizzy's. I work across the street and come here sometimes for work lunches. I keep trying different things on the menu with the same results: meh. I've had most of the tacos, nachos, chips and guac, and a salad or two. The food is uninspired and tastes like it was made from frozen ingredients. It's the kind of food I'd expect to find in an airport. I will say that they have a great happy hour deal- I seem to recall a $4 margarita?! Also, I've been here a few times with large parties (10-15 of us) and the service is usually awesome. Separate checks with no questions asked and 100% correct orders quickly! There's something to be said for that.

My experience at this Tin Lizzy's was actually very good. I went on a Thursday night and there were quite a few other patrons, but the place was not packed. We were able to get a seat on their cute little patio right away. The patio was nice- clean and open with cool lights strung overhead- and we received great service out there. Our server was friendly and helped us out with drink choices. I had the Mexi-mule, which is a cross between a margarita and a Moscow mule and my dining companion had the sangria. The sangria is definitely the way to go. My drink was good but the sangria was great. We started with a "duo" which was chips served with guac and salsa. I don't like paying for chips but I would rather pay for them than not eat them! The guacamole was so good! For my meal I ordered the 1/2 skillet. It a customizable concoction that they service in a skillet. There are several "base" items that are included and the pricing starts at $3.99 and goes up as you add meat, cheeses, etc. It's a pretty cool option. I ordered mine all veggie so it was really cheap and filling. Double score! We went to this location because of a Scoutmob deal, but deal or no deal- we will definitely be back. This may not be the most "authentic" Mexican joint in town, but it's a solid choice for some good eatin'.

I dont know man, they do call it tin lizzys, but when i got my food the tin looked a little rusted to me and kinda ruined my meal from there. He tried to explain why it was that color, you be the judge. The server said it wasnt rust...The food was just ok, parking was a breeze and the hostess was nice but i think ill pass on coming back.

I hate to give this place a two-star rating. I just expected better because I've had samples at the Taste of Emory event. My dish was just okay... I had the southern skillet; I'm used to seeing SIZZLING skillets at places who have these types of dishes, but the food was just barely warm. I also thought the chicken on the dish was too dry and needed more sauce. The PORTIONS are WAY TO SMALL FOR $11+. The picture I took makes it look bigger than it is. Also, I came here with several people during lunchtime and there wasn't a huge mad rush of people, yet our food took a good 45 minutes to an hour to come out. The atmosphere and decor is good. I actually would still try this place again, trying out another dish or tacos-- which are good, but too small for the amount of just one. This leads me to my final view of this place and Emory Point as a whole... I don't understand why they put such an expensive place (apartments & restaurants) at a university-- and if this is done nationwide, it makes no sense. It's dismissive of the main population there-- college students-- while also taking advantage of any nest egg they have. My point is that for $11, I REALLY CAN make a two-day to a week's worth of food stretch (rice dishes to spaghetti) for the price of one little plate. Places are closing here left and right, so Tin Lizzy's needs to pick their game up a bit.

Let me start off by saying I'm a fan of the Tin Lizzy's in Buckhead and have been there counteless times. I've also had good experiences at the Perimeter location. We decided to venture to a new area and ended up at Tin Lizzy's Emory Point on a Sunday. We sat at the bar and service was slow - the bartender was very nice I just think she needed more help for the crowd that showed up. Food: chips / queso / salsa: the chips were very stale, queso was ok as was the salsa. I had a korean bbq taco which was dry and had a small amount of fillings and also the super greek taco which had almost no tzatziki sauce on it!! My fiance had the mediterranean skillet which didn't come with the cucumbers or cheese it was supposed to come with. Overall we were underwhelmed by the food here. I'm hoping it was just an off day since we do like the other locations!!

  • Rebecca S.

Cheap drinks, but the food was just adequate. We got the Korean BBQ tacos and the Black Bean Quesadilla. The tacos were decent, but I wasn't a huge fan of the quesadilla--I felt like I could've made it myself. The service itself was good, and I liked that the chips were sprinkled with paprika (or cayenne pepper? Spices are confusing.) All in all, I would go if I had a few drinks or wanted cheap margaritas.

  • Shan K.

Lackluster. Had the Korean Taco and grilled tilapia taco. The Korean taco was over spiced and under done shredded mush. The fish taco was average. Service was quick. Chips were way over the top salty. Not worth the price premium.

What a great place to enjoy a lovely Saturday night! The atmosphere is beautiful. I loved every moment. The service was so wonderful. The staff attended to all of our needs, they were very personable and fun to have around. The food was wonderful! I got a BBQ shrimp quesadilla that was fabulous. Overall I love this location and would definitely return!

The good: location, parking, interior, outside seating, service - all very good. The bad: the food! Yes, the portions are generous but the salsa tastes like tomato sauce. The guacamole isn't right. Worst of all, the chicken tasted like dog food and the beef isn't much better. It's a crying shame because I really like the place - prices are ok, location and parking are very good, the interior is lovely and outside seating is nice as well. The bar area is nice if that's what you're looking for. Our server was very polite and prompt. But the food!!! That's why people eat out. Tin Lizzy's really needs to, in my opinion, try harder to make the food better. Make some good salsa. The kind with spice. Cook the meat in some sort of normal way so it looks and tastes like it should rather than like it maybe came out of a can.

Maybe it was a busy lunch? Waited (and waited and waited) for water. Water. Got my food served and was still waiting for water. The food was "chain-ish" (which it is, but you know what I mean) and didn't have a sense of people really caring about the delivery of the experience. Maybe I'm spoiled by hyper-local places?

Found this place on scout mob and ever since I've been coming here when I crave a good taco. Very long taco menu but i would recommend two tacos with a side and of course chips to start off your meal. I love the decor and the staff was more than friendly.

Great customer service and good food! I've gone a few times, but this time was the best (Sunday 22 March). Dmitri was at the bar, and I also met Travis, one of the managers, and they were both super friendly extending great customer service. Tried one of the new "customer" tacos, and it was great (just a tad pricy). I also got a Southern Comfort skillet (always a favorite of mine), and fried pickles/ jalapenos.

Honestly, we wanted to go to The General Muir but it was Father's Day and they had a 30 minute wait at 12:30 pm, so we decided to try Tin Lizzy's. This is more like a 3.5 review and I do plan to come back and try other stuff and I also do recommend it to others. Our service was great and very cordial. The food was good too, but I docked off points (well, stars) because it was over-seasoned I mean, way over-seasoned. The tastes are bold to begin with ( we ordered the barbecue chicken + goat quesadilla and three tacos: korean, low country I think -the one with the fried pickles, and the fajita shrimp one; and the duo chips with queso and salsa)...so adding all that seasoning (I am talking about salt mostly) is just excessive. OK, so like I said, I'll try it again because the menu is interesting and fun, but I will try it not when I am in the mood of fresh, lime-y, see-food tacos, you know?

Kid's menu - good value but portions are small and the options not very imaginative for a Mexican restaurant. The rice Krispy treat that comes with the kids meals is a nice touch. We often just order a bunch of sides for a healthier, heartier and better alternative to the kids menu. Ambience - fun atmosphere for the whole family. The boys like the numerous tvs running sports programming throughout the place. When school is in session, the place is filled with university kids which makes it interesting and fun. Service - hit or miss. Most of the time hit, but when it's a miss, it's bad. But the management does a good job of doing the right thing which keeps us coming back.

I was in Atlanta for meetings with the CDC and the group i was with decided to have a drink after the first day at Tin Lizzy. About 15 of us arrived sporadically. The place was nice. but the services was awful. it took ten minutes for me to get the attention of the bartender and then another 5 minutes to get my drink. I order tortilla chip and salsa so we could have something to snack on and these are not free. I was missing Chevy's with their fresh made salsa and chips. This again took a good deal of time to order and get the chips. It is a good stop for a few drinks with friends and the outside seating is very nice. I would not recommend it as a dinner stop.

This was our 3rd time at Tin Lizzys, and I must say our service was very good (in comparison to other reviews). We were greeted immediately, and had a seat at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. The food...is just ok. Nothing to write home about, but it's acceptable for the price. The live music made the night. A guy tucked in the corner, plucking away on his guitar, complimented by a velvet, smooth voice. It was not too loud, and really set a nice fun, sexy vibe. We were there on Friday night.

Ok so I'm sure the tacos are great, but DONT GET THE SKILLETS. Somehow they are tasteless and %70 rice. Also, avocado is a little bland. But decent service and decor.

Food is great. Kids are super satisfied with their meal. The $2 Taco and Beer are a great deal on Saturday. Unique deco and friendly servers.

Tin Lizzy's is awesome! I especially love the specials on Saturday- $2 tacos and dos xx all day! Try the BBQ chicken taco. It's my favorite! Summer specials are starting now too and the $4 house margaritas are great. Perfect for casual fun w friends. Live music on the evenings is also a plus, as is the patio! Service is always very friendly, too.

I've given Tin Lizzy's two chances and I'm sad to say I won't be returning. With so much great Mexican in this city, there's no reason to go somewhere with such poor service. On our first visit, we waited over an hour when we were told it would be about 30 minutes.. no big deal, it happens. But then we sat, and waited another 15 minutes before seeing a server. We actually asked the hostess if our server knew that his table had been sat, she informed us it was his first night on the job.. so we understood. A manager came over and took our drink and appetizer order, and she actually comped the appetizer since we had been waiting so long, which was nice of her. The night went on at the same pace, we ordered 5 tacos to share and we liked 2 of them--the southern comfort and fried chicken. The others were very bland. We left Tin Lizzy's willing to give it another shot and hoping that our server survived his night. We went back last night and had an experienced server, but not better service. Again we waited 15 minutes before anyone came to our table. Then he arrived, took our drink and app order, and we didn't see him again for another 15 minutes. He was acting like he had 10 tables.. and maybe he did, but I could only see 3-4. To his credit, he was working really hard, so I'm not sure it was his fault.. but we had been sitting 25 minutes before getting our drinks and 30 minutes before getting our chips and salsa. Seriously... most Mexican places put chips on your table before you even order your drinks... and they are free. At Tin Lizzy's prepare to wait 30 minutes for chips.. and pay for them. The margaritas tasted like straight sour mix. We ordered tacos again and unfortunately only enjoyed one of them. They were all cold and the southern comfort that we had liked on our last trip had SO much BBQ sauce on it that you couldn't taste any other flavor. I hope Tin Lizzy's can pull it together because this is a great location and patio for a this type of place.

Service pretty much sucks here. Waited about 20 mins for table after we were told 15 - no biggie right? - Well if we hadn't asked, we would have been sat because they forget to completely page us. There were plenty of open seats when we were sat. Once we were sat - waited 10 mins for the server to show up - the host noticed our agony and came in for a drink order. The server eventually showed up - took our orders, apologized, etc. The chips and salsa app took over 10 mins to come out. We pressed the waiter DANIEL again and he finally got the chips. Then literally 5 mins later our entrees came out. WTF? 2 wrongs don't make a right. It's either 0 or 100 with this place. The food was actually solid for this Flex-Mex concept they are pushing. That's the only reason this place didn't get a lower rating. But I won't go over what was actually good here since the service BLOWS! Needless to say, adios Tin Lizzy's.

Friendly servers, great food, and tasty drinks. I really love the skillets. They're sort of like fajitas but with different vegetables and cooler toppings. I always get iceburg lettuce instead of rice and it's delicious. I like to get the skinny margarita. It's good but not very strong. My bf gets fried boneless strips with honey bbq sauce on top. He loves them! He also really likes their chips, which you have to buy. They have some seasoning on them and are really good.

It's authenticity is closer to american bar serving tacos than something you would find on buford. But I still love their chicken tortilla soup. I've been a little under the weather recently and having that chicken soup for lunch has been extremely comforting (and cheaper than the matzo ball soup next door). I also love all the servers- they are so friendly, helpful and fun. Last Sunday, while listening to live music and nursing said cold with said soup, the bartender offers all at the bar a round of free shots. I had to forego, but appreciated the sentiment. how fun! Other things I like: the skillet thing they have, which comes with rice, beans, veggies and meat of your choice (the 1/2 skillets are a good lunch portion) "sneaky rita" margaritas only +$1 from the regular sour mix options outdoor patio with tons of TVs pretty decor

    (5)
  • Cassandra M.

I'm still trying to understand why cucumbers and tomatoes are considered .. extra$$$.. on a salad. This is more for the drinking crowd than the foodie. Even the skillet had no veggies other than peppers and onions. So the basic 'skillet' had rice, tortilla strips, hints of salsa and meat (protein extra). No beans, No lettuce, just a big bowl of carbohydrates. As I indicate with the $$$ signs, you can add anything for a $$$$. And they don't offer free chips and salsa??? Great place for happy hour with friends, however. But if I just wanted an actual Mexican meal, I'd stick with El Potro on Buford Hwy.

Tin Lizzy's Cantina opened their doors a few weeks ago in Emory Point, a new mixed-use retail and residential area near Emory University and the CDC. It's part of the popular franchise in Atlanta, with other Tin Lizzy restaurants located in Buckhead, Grant Park, Midtown, and Perimeter. The positive is that they are open late. I think this is a huge plus since they are located right next to Emory's campus and they will get a lot of business from hungry students in the area looking for a late night hang out spot. Although, they have late hours, there was only one choice on the menu which consisted of chicken tacos. Now I enjoy tacos so I wasn't that disappointed but it would have been great to see a few other options. The bar is open as well. They usually have a happy hour and drink specials each week. I had the chance to try a margarita and it was decent. Not the best, but it sufficed. I think the other positive element was the hostess who later acted as my waitress as well. She was very friendly and really helped me to have a positive dining experience. Overall, I'm excited about the new business. Good service. Open late during the week. Only recommendation is to add more items to the late night menu.

Cheap decent food... TERRIBLE rude management. I tried hosting a private event during off peak hours and when talking to managemtnt the would give me roundabout answers, promise to call back and never would, and upon any pushback they would give you exceptional attitude. Out of fear for a even worse managed event I don't want to name names but whoever was manager on 8/30/14 12:30 pm is difficult to work with.

Great Environment combined with Great Service. Laid-back atmosphere. Living in the Buckhead area my boyfriend and I try to check out different places around the area for food and drinks on our Friday nights. We have been to Tin Lizzy's many times around our house in Buckhead and have always liked their food. One Saturday night we decided to venture out to Emory Point and decided to eat at Tin Lizzy's. When we arrived, we were welcomed with smiling faces and great music playing on the patio. Thomas was our server. I have never been so impressed with a server at any establishment as I have been with Thomas. He was attentive and had a perfect mixture of conversation and service. Our first time at Tin Lizzy's at Emory Point was definitely a memorable one. When my boyfriend and I went back to this Tin Lizzy's a couple weeks later, we were welcomed once again by Thomas. We were most impressed how he remembered our names and even our order. He definitely created a great atmosphere for us and we will now forever become loyal to this Tin Lizzy's location. I strongly recommend this place for anyone looking to grab very reasonably priced food with a great atmosphere. It is a great place to just grab drinks at the same time a perfect date spot. Ownership and management must be doing a great job because every employee who worked there seemed to have a smile on their face and an upbeat personality. It is rare these days to find such genuine service, and when you do, I feel it needs to be recognized. Keep it up Tin Lizzy's and if you can ask for Thomas, he will give you VIP treatment and you will leave happy.

I posted a review August of 2013. I continue to enjoy the food and praise them for the excellent customer service. My personal experience is, they are always very personable and prompt. Almost everyone there knows me by name, even the newest employees. I work in the area so I eat there at least once or twice weekly. Thanks Brian, Tony, John, Monish and everyone (It's a long list) at Tin Lizzy @ Emory Point. Beverly D

The Emory Point location needs to LOCK. IT. UP. This location was a half-way point to meet a friend for dinner. We arrived between 7:30-8 on a Monday and they were steady, but not slammed. It took a few minutes for a hostess to come up to the hostess table so we stood around a while waiting. Once at our table we waited a good 10 minutes before we flagged someone down to get our waitress. The guy that came over might have been a manager. He was helpful. My friend said her margarita was weak and watered down. Our waitress brought us our chips, queso and salsa. I do not like anything spicy and the queso had jalapeños in it. Again I had to wait for the waitress, Heidi (per the name card on the table) to come back to our table. She told me that they ONLY serve queso with jalapeños in it. I've been to the Grant Park location, midtown location, Dunwoody location and I frequent the Buckhead location - I've never had spicy queso at any location before. I ended up asking her to take it off. I asked to sub cheeses on one taco and was told that would be extra probably. Im not sure if thats a new policy. Our food finally came after what had to have been 25 minutes. The food was your typical TL tacos, delicious. We were never asked for drink refills and once our checks were brought we had to wait for them to be picked up. Our waitress picked them up then put them down and walked to the kitchen. I've never had such terrible service anywhere, and I eat out a lot. That night I tipped 10%, which I've never done before. I'm not really sure it was worth a tip at all. I was extremely disappointed in this location, and if I want TL I will just stick to my local Buckhead location. Next time I'm in that area ill go to Marlow's instead.

Decent Mexican - as with everything at Emory Point, not particularly great value (e.g. everything at EP is overpriced because of the captive lunch audience). I like this as a change from the Fresh 2 Order (my favorite at EP) or Bonefish (better food but much more $).

Overall a little too factory feel. Guacamole needed more depth - some fresh veggies would be good. Food was average - nothing really outstanding. Service was good and friendly.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I came here-- I was seduced by the Scoutmob coupon of 50% off, which made it WELL worth it. All in all, I liked it, but a few things: they ran out of things very quickly. I went on a Sunday night, but still. As a server myself, half of me understands completely but the other half finds it a reflection of the management. They ran out of chips (how does a Mexican restaurant run out of chips?!), cucumbers, and 2/3 stalls in the women's bathroom were out of toilet paper. However! The servers were nice and the margaritas were great. The atmosphere is definitely more party-esque: several TVs mounted on the walls for sports game viewing and loud, upbeat music. I personally was not a fan of the music-- every song was extremely different, from country to oldies to rap, not really my style. Now on to the food. My sister got the skillet-- she personally didn't like it too much but that was partially due to her own choices of additions she put on it (including celery, which was a strange choice) and the amount of queso on top. Something in it, possibly the queso, tore up her stomach a little bit, but keep in mind, neither of us are used to eating that much cheese! She also isn't a fan of queso. Our friend, though, who loves queso, thought it was great. Another pointer-- the half skillet was a pretty good size! Only get the full if you're REALLY hungry. ;-) I got the fish tacos and a spicy steak taco. I liked the fish tacos except for the tartar sauce, which was a little too creamy for me. The steak was very good, as well. The tortillas they were on weren't soft and warm, though. That was a slight disappointment. All in all, I had a great time with my friends and would recommend if you go during the week and want this type of atmosphere.

Tin Lizzy's always seems to receive quite a bit of flak on Yelp, but the food isn't nearly as criminal as some reviewer's may lead you to believe. They clearly declare on the menu and promotional materials that they're a "non-authentic southwestern restaurants and bar", so it should really be no surprise when severely Americanized Mexican fare arrives at your table. However, I will say that this is the only Tex-Mex place I've ever patronized that actually charges you for chips, which are by no means cataclysmic to begin with. As far as I'm concerned, it's equivalent to a Chinese takeout joint charging for fortune cookies and duck sauce. Let's stop the insanity, Lizzy. Food: Tin Lizzy's is a casual Tex-Mex chain with fairly run-of-the-mill menu offerings, including tacos, quesadillas, nachos, and salads. However, one novel aspect of the menu is that you can create your own quesadillas and "skillets", the latter of which is a concoction of queso, veggie rice, grilled red peppers and onion, pickled jalapenos, and crispy tortilla strips in a cast iron skillet. Ingredient choices include everything from meats and vegetables to various cheeses and beans. During my visit, I tried the barbecued chicken nachos and three different chicken-based tacos, all of which were reasonable. My favorite was the southern comfort, which consisted of two of my most greatest guilty pleasures - goat cheese and fried pickles. Service: The service during my visit was really commendable - our waiter arrived almost immediately after we were seated and provided consistently efficient and friendly service throughout the meal. I'm assuming that the staff here probably get run ragged by the CDC lunch crowd, so it's nice to see that they can still maintain a reasonable sense of composure and professionalism. Atmosphere: Between the paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling, the license plates plastered backwards on the wall, and the mediocre live music blaring over the speakers, the interior of this place is busy enough to induce seizures. A large portion of the space is dedicated to the bar area - there's also an outdoor patio as well. The clientele during my visit was predominately CDC employees and Emory staff and students. Cost: The prices are consistent with the food quality and portions. Nachos are $6-$10, appetizers are $3-$7, tacos are $3-$4, quesadillas are $4-$10, salads are $9-$10, and skillets are $4-$7 + toppings. Chips and salsa are $3 and queso is $5-$6. Sides are generally $1-$2. Other: This Tin Lizzy's is located in the new Emory Point Complex on Clifton Rd directly across the street from CDC. The restaurant entrance is along the central corridor of the complex across from the main entrance to the parking garage. Parking is free in the garage for the first two hours - credit/debit card payment is required after that period.

Not-so-good: *Service can be hit or miss - been here three times, once poor service, once acceptable, and once excellent - this is in terms of how quick they are seating you, getting your order, getting it correctly *Can get pretty pricey for even a modest meal Good: *Their vegan / vegetarian selection is not bad - the guacamole is delicious and with the skillet, you can pretty much choose whatever you want on your food; the portions are decent (not huge but not skimpy) *Chips and salsa are refilled (though I've only experienced this upon request) *The live music is usually really good - heard acoustic covers of Sublime, Stone Temple Pilots, etc. I live pretty close to here so I don't mind returning here for a meal or two. Food's not bad and service I'm sure will get better as time goes on though busy periods have the servers at their worst. Would say more 3.5 stars than 4.

Okay-I have given this place chance after chance and I finally decided I needed to write a review. I have visited Tin Lizzy's about 5 times since it opened at Emory Point. I work close so it is a convenient place to go and sometimes you just want to enjoy a margarita on the patio. The food is okay-the guacamole is good, tacos are fine, but nothing is out of this world and some of it is just plain blah! I ordered a side of beans last night to go with the tacos and they had NO taste-seemed like they came straight from a can. I have ordered the skillets as well, which seem great because you can customize but that was very bland as well. The prices are high-but on par with other places in Emory Point. You have to pay for salsa, which I get-but the portion is small for the amount you pay. Most importantly here is that the service is HORRIBLE! I have never once had good service at this place. It is incredibly slow and at some point in the meal, I somehow end up feeling like I am inconveniencing the server. My friend and coworker ordered fish tacos once and when we finally got the order, there was actually no fish in the taco. She told the server and she just took it away without saying anything! I know it isn't her fault, but geez-apologize or tell us you will fix right away or SOMETHING! Last night we went for trivia and the waiter barely paid attention to our table-we also ordered food before trivia started and halfway through trivia (about an hour in)-I had to flag down the waiter to ask about the food. He said it would be out soon. It finally came to the table at the fourth and last round. No apology or explanation. I am so disappointed in this place because it has a great patio space and who doesn't love some good (or at least palatable) Mexican food. If you want to dine at Emory Point, I HIGHLY recommend General Muir as the top place (BY MILES). But Burger-Fi, F2O and Byrani Point are also good options. Please avoid Tin Lizzy's.

I always seem to like this place. I love that they have live entertainment. Especially during the week. (I guess its usually thursdays I go there). The service is usually very quick on attentive (I like to sit at the bar). And the food is good. The skillets are my favorite as I can mix my own and the portions are great. I'm glad they've come to the neighborhood.

Come here for tacos and margarita pitchers and have a good time! Waiters/waitresses are spunky and enthusiastic!

I've been in Atlanta for a few years now, and people talk about Tin Lizzies, but I've never been there. then, they opened a location at Emory Pointe, and I work at Emory. So, I went over there for lunch the other day. It's fine. I'll eat there, I'm sure, because it's convenient to me and it's not terrible (see any of my reviews of Emory Village, except Falafel King). What's more, when I was there, it was really nice out, and with all of the windows and doors open, it was really comfortable. But, other than being not terrible and convenient, it doesn't have all that much going for it. It reminds me of a Chilis, with a little (I mean _little_) less of a corporate feel. The food was better than Chilis, but not by much. I had shrimp and fish tacos, which were fine.

A great meet up location with an outside area. Clean, good food. Never had a problem with the service or food. Today is wonderful, quiet and not crowded. And the 2-hour free parking is a great plus.

I've been hearing about Tin Lizzy's and decided to check it out for lunch. I was disappointed. I knew it was Tex-Mex so i wasn't expecting Buford Highway-quality food or anything, but this place basically reminded me of a Chili's. Decor is studiously and artificially kitschy. Food is overpriced and mediocre--nothing tasted fresh and my skillet dish came out almost lukewarm. Also, service took a long time to bring our food and checks out, respectively, despite the fact that it was the tail end of weekday lunch and the Emory Point businesses cater to the CDC office lunch crowd. With so many tasty, affordable, and higher-quality food options in Atlanta, I'm definitely not going back.

Cannot complain on the food. The spicy cilantro steak tacos were very good. My lady had the shrimp tacos, which she enjoyed. Now for the bad. How does an establishment serve a margarita with no salt?! I would think one should have to ask for salt NOT to be on the glass. Also, the 16oz pints were college style plastic cups. Do better Tin Lizzy's. The Maggies were very good though.

People (Greeter/Hostess/Waitress)& Service were OK (place was empty except for the Bar [Sunday 2PM]) but the food not so much: 1. No Chips n Salsa before you order (or at least we didn't get any). 2. No Corn Hard Shell Tacos to be found anywhere on the menu (DEAL BREAKER right there)--they have flour tortillas ONLY (YUK!). Ended up getting some Cheese Quesadillas and some Nachos (we were told by the greeter & the waitress how "great" the Nachos were! The Nachos really should be called a bucket of lettuce with some weird seasoned corn chips (Doritos or even Tostitos are FAR tastier) & a bit of thin melted cheese. Asked for some salsa for the Nachos & what we got was a very small container of what tasted like tomato sauce FOR PASTA (the spices were _C_O_M_P_L_E_T_E_L_Y_ wrong! This taste reminded me very much like what Longhorn tries to pass off as "Chili"). The Guac was edible--but just barely (read: My dead 96 year old grandma could make better guacamole!). Finally, the Cheese Quesadillas were really ORDINARY (read: Del Taco's Cheese Quesadillas are _F_A_R_ superior). The final nail in the coffin is the paid parking at Emory Point. Not only do you have to pay to go spend money you are forced to use a credit card! What were these idiots thinking? Atlanta is not a pay to park town! Bottom Line: Won't be going back to Tin Lizzy's anytime soon. It's too bad to because we wanted to like it here as we LOVE good Mexican/TexMex etc & it's very close to home...... Will continue to go to La Parilla at the Toco Hills Shopping Center instead--better food, you get complimentary Chips & Salsa as soon as your ass hits the seat & you don't have to pay to park!

Great place to go. Try the tacos. They also have a great selection of margaritas. Sort of a Mexican infusion style cuisine. Service was also very good. We sat at the bar because it was so busy....

My boyfriend and I love this place. Great selection of tacos and awesome chips and queso! This may be our favorite place to dine out in the area. I always get the half-salad and add my favorite toppings- pretty tasty (and surprisingly filling) dish for a good price. The service is great too!

I work at Emory, so this is a convenient spot for group dinner and drinks after work. It was pretty empty on a Tuesday night, so our large group was seated quickly on the patio. Service was reasonably prompt and friendly. Always love Tin Lizzy's seasoned chips. We had the three amigos (salsa, guac, and queso). The queso was good, but warm cheesey liquid is hard to mess up. The salsa wasn't anything special, but the guacamole was mushy and bland. I had the Southern Comfort Skillet, but it wasn't very hot when it came out. The food is at Tin Lizzy's is always mediocre, but it's usually pretty fast and very convenient if you're at Emory or the CDC.

The food will disappoint you every single time, so don't bother. They clearly have a clown running the kitchen. The food is obviously old. The clown running the kitchen strongly believes in using leftovers. I hadn't been in so long that I nearly forgot how bad the food is. Regardless, today I tried to give them another chance. EPIC FAIL. I had to throw away my to-go order. Besides the hair found, it was just awful. A homeless child could find better food in the garbage. Hate your mother-in-law? Buy her a plate. Which plate? Any will do. It's just a decent pregame drinking spot. Gordon Ramsay should pay them a visit because I imagine this place will go out of business in 3 years. You have been warned.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
