Sunday brunch at the Nook. Got there around 12:15 before the bar opened (a good time to get a table). It's a beautiful spot (and it was a beautiful day). The bloody mary's were good, the food was good. The grits were especially good. The kitchen seemed to be running smoothly and on their game. Service was dead on. Our server (didn't catch his name, but tall guy with a short blond ponytail, if the owners are seeing this) was pretty much my ideal server. Friendly (but not friendsy), prompt, casually attententive and efficient. For example, as it started to get busy, he asked if he should put another round of drinks on the radar- no hurry, but so we wouldn't be at the end of the bar line when we were ready. It's that kind of thing that I really appreciate. The whole staff seemed happy and working well together. Woot! Well done!!

I went back for another try and I have to say that I was very impressed. The staff was so nice and helpful. Rich is one of the nicest servers I have ever had. The manager, Kim was also very friendly and kind. I had the lamb burger and sweet potato fries, both were excellent! Kind of sad I let my bad experience keep me away for so long, they seem to have worked out all the kinks. I will be back for sure!

Hung out with friends at The Nook to watch some FIFA World Cup coverage. Despite the huge crowd, the service was friendly and prompt. I had the chicken wings that came with the usual celery/carrots and dip. The wings were a tad spicy but good. My friends tried the burgers which they said were tasty and the sweet potato fries were good too. I like The Nook and will probably stop back by whenever I come to spend a lazy day at the park. Update 7/17/2010 Oh boy!! I am a stickler about service. Service is very important to me in terms of the dining experience. The food, atmosphere etc can be perfect but bad service will really screw up the vibe. All that being said, we went back to The Nook the other day to try their brunch because we had such a good time there during the World Cup. We were sat at a cute little table on the patio. It all went downhill from there. Drinks came out slow, no silverware, little attention, food came out after a LONG wait and then it was cold. The waiter was not rude but just seemed checked out. Also there was a large group there he was tending to and this may have had his attention focused on a potentially large tip?? The manager came out after we sent back super cold waffles that even the Waffle House or IHOP wouldn't serve. She was very apologetic, took care of the check and gave us a gift card to come back. So it ended well and I will use my card and give them one more try.

One of the better neighborhood bar's in Atlanta. Food is high quality and they have a great beer selection. Right across from Piedmont Park, perfect during the spring/summer time!

Great service and friendly environment. I had the shrimp and grits, which is easily 1000 % better tasting than it sounds!

By no stretch of the imagination will this place blow you away based on food alone. But let's be honest, when you go to a restaurant like The Nook, it's more about the company, drinks & ambiance above all. So, seeing that I had the opportunity to enjoy eating Totchos on The Nook's stellar patio before it reached a stifling & humid 100 degrees, me likey!!! The drink list & menu won't necessarily knock your socks off, but they have a decent variety of slightly original, glorified bar food. We opted for the veggie totchos, which tasted like tater tots smothered with delish queso dip with a speckling of grilled veggies... Fine by me! I got the blackened mahi mahi, which was actually quite good... very pleasantly surprised! Among 6 girls, no one had a complaint as far as food was concerned, but our waitress left much to be desired. All in all, the more booze we consumed, the more irrelevant she became & once our totchos appeared it was as if the music stopped... literally. We could not stop picking! Definitely check this place out for a happy hour if nothing else!

Bummer. I picked this place because of location, and decided to ignore the overwhelming negativity of the Yelp reviews. Bad move. We got there at 4:30 for dinner, and we didn't get out til after 6:30 because the service was so slow. We expected to be in and out in an hour--come on, people, it's 4:30!! The totchos were good, but came in very small portions and just weren't THAT good. The restaurant had run out of all three of my mother's beer choices, and then it turned out that they'd also run out of hamburger buns. No problem--someone was running to PUBLIX to pick up some more. We were finally served our burgers on gummy, Wonder bread buns that fell apart and tasted awful. It wasn't terrible, but it really wasn't at all good. I think you should go here if you have some time to kill and just want to have a drink with your friend. You should NOT go here if you are hungry or if you want your drink within 20 minutes of your arrival.
