When I get the craving for a tasty Cuban Sandwich I go to the best place in metro Atlanta to get one which is Pan American Bakery! The Cuban coffee is awesome too! It makes me feel like I'm Miami eating authentic Cuban food!

Yes! this was a wonderful pressed Cuban! The bite of Swiss cheese the ham and pork, the pickles... Much better than la Havana nearby! Super selection of sodas and the Guava pastries are amazing and fresh! I want to try that pastillo con carne next time.

One of the best Cuban Sandwiches in town! Tried a couple of pastries as well. The prices are very reasonable and the owners are friendly. I will be back soon!

Not the best or worst Cuban sandwich I have eaten. When compared to Tampa or Miami, it is a below average sandwich. For Atlanta, it is OK, but there are better. The bread does not have the crumb or split top you might wish for. The roast pork was underwhelming- lacking flavor and moisture. The mojo came from a factory, the cheese was cold, as was the center of the sandwich. I could get past the dirty customer area, if the food was amazing. Also keep in mind this IS NOT A RESTAURANT, IT IS A BAKERY, AND DOES NOT GET A HEALTH INSPECTION LIKE RESTAURANTS DO.

I finally tracked down this little spot (after stopping at the bakery that I thought all of the yelpers were talking about ...). Pan-American Bakery is not easy to locate... it is actually in the middle of a rather disheveled-looking shopping center that has clearly seen Clairmont road's "better days". The interior of the shop is small, not-exactly tidy, and rather sparse ... that said, the little lady does really whip a stellar cuban sandwich. She doesn't speak too much but diligently makes the sandwich in the back of the shop. She asks me if "this is to go?"... and it's not like you have much of a choice because there are really no tables and very, very little in the way of sides or sodas. The sandwich itself is overflowing with meat and the bread is very fresh. It's a steal for $4.50. Give it a try if you are in the area and a good "marker" is to located the restaurant "Mint" which "anchors" the northwest end of this shopping center.

Facing the empty display cases, shelves and coolers would suggest that you somehow were teleported over 900 miles to a modern day government rationed Cuban storefront, but you are actually still on Clermont Rd. It is obvious that the focus here is on the commercial business and not walk in traffic. It is a tired, well worn shop, with not much to hold your attention or to encourage you to stay. With that being said Pan American offers the best Pasteles de Guayaba and Pasteles de Guayaba y Queso in Atlanta. At $1 each these guava pastries are worth the drive if you are a fan of the stuff like I am. Pan American Bakery also has great sandwiches, but I prefer the shop next to it, La Chiquita Mic, if i am there at lunch time, both for the food and the atmosphere.

Thanks to Yelpers for pointing me here b/c it's one of those places I'd probably never think to try. They're in a very shady and dated-looking strip mall - might be helpful to look at the Yelp photo of the storefront just so you know what to look for. It's your classic-looking dive. This place is worth a visit if you like Cuban sandwiches. Their sandwiches are very good. I'm no Cuban sandwich expert so I can't compare w/ the others but I can say I enjoyed mine very much. The sandwiches are just $4.50 and they have just one kind, the standard w/ roasted pork, baked ham, Swiss cheese, sliced pickles, mustard, & Mojo sauce. Sandwiches are made-to-order, so you will have to wait for about 5 minutes or so. For dessert, get their "guava & cheese pastry" - it's a very flaky turnover w/ a yummy guava & cream cheese filling in the middle, and it is heaven. I thought I'd eat just a few bites b/c I was really full from the sandwich but I couldn't stop. I could've eaten a second one, too :) They have several different pastries but I picked the guava & cheese b/c one of the other customers was telling me it's their best pastry. The person who made my sandwich also said it was the best pastry. I also liked the price - just $.75. The two people who work here are very nice. I asked the owner if he's Colombian b/c there were several Colombia posters on the wall - he's Colombian and he said they've been in this location for 25 years. Making Cuban bread is their main business, and they help provide bread for all the area Cuban restaurants. I saw one guy come in and get 3 big boxes of Cuban bread. I'd definitely come back and I'm definitely spreading the word on this one.

The bomb!!! Drove from Alpharetta last weekend to this lil place. Hungry as a cow and was so looking forward to getting there and putting my teeth and mouth to work. A lil intimidating when you pull up to the plaza, pero let me tell you that lil hot box was a lil piece of Cuban Sandwhich heaven. One of the best parts was when I asked for a guava and cheese pastry, the gentleman told me that they a coming out of the oven in a minute. What?? I was soo happy, nothing like fresh baked pastry out of the oven. The owner seemed to want us to sit there and eat but, we were in a rush and decided to take it to go. We didn't even make it a mile down the street and devoured the massively half of the sandwhich. We had to pull over to the BP to finish our mouthgasm. Will, be going there this weekend again, it was the best cuban sandwhich I had in Atlanta.

These guys make Cuban bread for many Atlanta restaurants. This is more of a commercial bakery, and their product is very good. But I got a Cuban here once and it was good. Meats are not freshly sliced and are pulled out of a cooler. But the sammy is still good.

This is to me one of my favorite places to eat a Cuban sandwich. Very tasty sandwich with the bread nice and toasty, makes the sandwich even better. Mr.Memo the owner has had this joint for over 20 years and still going. He makes little pastry cakes out of guava and cheese or guava by itself and also the beef ones. All the pastries are a must try. Overall I love the food here and the staff which is the owner and Martha the lady who makes the sandwiches. The place is pretty simple when walking in but don't let that fool you the food and snacks there are very good. Recommended for anybody wanting to try a Cuban sandwich for the first time. And I almost forgot to mention, only $5 a sandwich :)

CUBAN SANDWICH!!!!!!!!! Every bite is the perfect bite. I call ahead to make sure the lady is there (I KNOW HER VOICE) and to order to-go. Hey, perfection takes time... *drool

5 stars for the Cuban sandwich and guava cheese pastry. Meat pie was pretty good, but not my thing. The Cuban is made to order and she shaves the meat fresh while you wait. Takes about 5-10 minutes, but so worth it and only $4.50. I've been coming here once a week for the last couple of months. There is one small table if you want to eat it there, but I always get mine to go. Based on people picking up large bakery orders, it seems that many Cuban restaurants in town use their bread. Off of Clairmont in the strip mall with Mint.

Anyone who missed Kool Korners down on 14th street needs to come and get their Cuban sandwich fix. They're almost identical, except they toast the bread a bit more. This place needs to operate a food truck and drive around midtown to sell lunch.

Yum, I love that the best Cubans come out of a Colombian-owned bakery, and for only $4.50! Thanks eatbufordhighway blog dude for the tip. I have compared this sandwich to the one next door, also $4.50, but not nearly as good, as well as those at Havana Restaurant (on the other side of Buford) and Havana Grill (about a mile down Buford in the Southwest-ish direction). If you want to sit down with your black beans and rice (and maduros and other Cuban goodies), then one of the Havanas is a better pick, but if you're in it just for the sandwich (which will fill you up so you don't even miss the sides), then Pan American is your joint. One thing I will say is be prepared to wait longer than you think it should take. The kind, quiet lady who will make your sandwich is very precise and deliberate in her assembly, pressing and slicing. I swear she weighs out every piece of lechon, slices exactly x pieces of ham for every sandwich, and will make separate trips to the fridge each time she needs to add some mustard or a slice of cheese or a pickle or mojo. It's slow, but at the same time strangely touching...to the point that you can almost taste the care that went into making that sandwich, and it's all the better for it: perfect balance of flavors/components, perfect moistness to the lechon, perfect density to the bread, perfect restraint in the application of butter to achieve a perfect crispness on the exterior, perfectly diagonal half-age. It's a beautiful thing.

Ok, ok. The cuban was...good. I think this was an authentic cuban. I loved the bread. I enjoyed how they buttered it. I love how the sandwich was pressed. I think it could have been pressed/toasted as little longer. But all in all, it was a great price. At Addy's yelp suggestion, I also had the guava, cream cheese pastry thingy. My companion fell in love with it. I think compared to all the pastry, it lacked a sufficient amount of filling.

Based on Yelpers recommendations, I thought I'd give this place a try. Should have checked to see how many reviews there were before making the commitment (3 past reviews). I must agree, this place is a dumpy hole in the wall. I walked in to find the place pretty empty. I thought they were out of business or just robbed of everything in site. There was no baked goods on display, the racks were empty. If it wasn't for the "Open" neon sign, I would have probably turned around and left. The owner looked at me with a blank stare as if I was lost. I had to initiate the conversation or it would have been a full on staring contest. I asked for a cuban sandwich. She looked confused and looked to an elderly gentlemen for assistance. He said, " Our sandwich press isn't plugged in, can you wait 15 minutes." I said, " Sure." He then replied, " Oh, how about tomorrow, can you come back tomorrow?" I said, " Probably, not... Bye." So, I left the place frustrated and unsatisfied. When I returned to my car, I noticed the business next door had a big sign that read "Cuban Sandwiches" and another sign below that read, " We honor WIC. I drove off as fast as I could.

I wonder if this place is more of a commercial bakery? I have to admit, walking in leaves one wondering what they sell, since there are two large display cases on one side that are completely empty, some other shelves which are sparsley stocked with one or two loafs of bread, and a cooler with a few sodas and juice. I went here once before, looking to buy a loaf of Cuban bread to make sandwiches at home and was confused since there weren't any on display. But they eagerly grabbed one for me from the back. If it weren't for Yelp (thanks Kit & Tulie), I wouldn't have ever thought to drop in here and try a sandwich. Despite the stark interior, they do make a kick-ass Cuban. Lots of meat, delicious pickles and mustard spread -- a lot of food for just $4.50. And after an akward, silent period watching her assemble my meal, Martha was super sweet when I told her I read about their delicious sandwich on the internet and was excited to try it. I'll put up with the unattractive store front to pick up a tasty sandwich to go, anytime.

Garcia and Martha..just the best in customer service. They are from Columbia but took over this little bakery 20 yrs ago from a Cuban family- and they were more then willing to continue baking the wonderful Cuban bread. From the hours of 10am-3pm the sandwiches are made (Mon-Sat) they are closed Sunday folks..so get your hot pressed Cubans during this time! The Place is open til 7pm but the sandwiches are only sold til 3pm...so you were for warned..don't be strolling in at 6pm expecting a hot Cuban waiting for yeah! Other pastries looked delectable as well, and Garcia was such a sweet man, he gave me a cheese guava pastry to try. The pastry is pretty much like a fresh turnover, stuffed w/ a creamy white cheese and guava jam.. the crust was flaky, buttery, and melted in my mouth. So the sandwich is as Sean M. would say "FUCKING AMAZING" It was nice and toasty, and the Swiss cheese melted to perfection without being soggy. Enough ham and roasted pork to make a Jewish girl blush! The roasted pork has a hint of cumin and garlic the ham well its ham. The most spectacular thing about this sandwich is the bread! Amazing fresh baked Cuban Bread.. I saw Martha prep it, buttered the outside and pressed it in a non-grill mark presser, layered with pickles and a mojo special sauce (which tasted like mayo and some mustard with maybe garlic powder??) The bread came out crusty and warm- and smelled amazing!! When you bite into it, their is a nice crunch, and sourness from the pickles. They will specifically ask you if you want the original Cuban or do you want lettuce and tomatoes ( if you get this you might as well go to Quiznos or Subways) and they would secretly laugh at you while they put the lettuce and tomatoes on your requested non-Cuban sandwich. SO PLEASE just stick to the Original authentic Cuban folks! The Cuban bread looks like a baguette but don't let it fool yeah, it's so light you can easily crush it by carrying it home, so maybe it's best to just nibble on it on the way home. I want to do a special Shout out to Aldo who started the Yelp thread on where to find Cuban Bread.. thanks man.. this place is awesome! Side note: these guys provide bread to the soon to reopen Havana and Kool Korner ( apparently the owner drives from Alabama to get some bread!!)

I miss Kool Korner and was in the area, so I dropped by. They were open but hadn't started making sandwiches yet...I guess 10:30 is a little early, try for 11:00 when you go. There was a slight wait, but I wasn't in a rush and the owners were really nice. The sandwich smelled sooo good that it was hard to concentrate on the drive back.
