As a whole, this place didn't impress me. My brother and friend both seemed very excited to go here, claiming the burgers were impressive. I'm trying a health kick and opted for the pork chops. It came with Broccolini and Risotto, which to the restaurant's credit were both amazing. If I do end up back here, I'll be all over those two sides. Unfortunately, my pork chops were rather flavorless. I ended up asking for a side of sauce to dip them in for a bit of flavor. The pork chop meal is a little pricier, so if there is another visit, I'll probably opt for an assortment of the sides that came with the meal. They were very satisfying. The service was nice and fast, but we were the only ones in the restaurant, so we got pretty much undivided attention.

I met a friend at this restaurant last night for dinner because we had a Scoutmob to use and we were going to a social up the road. My friend had just gotten a new job so she wanted to celebrate. The first words out of my mouth to our server was that we had a scoutmob. He then proceeded to upsell us to a bottle of wine because it was Tuesday and they have a 1/2 price bottle of wine night. Apparently, on the Scoutmob it says that you cannot do both discounts, but I had not read it closely and our server was telling us we could do it. Needless to say, when we got the bill, we did not get the 1/2 price bottle. We argued a little but then I just asked him to negate the Scoutmob $15 off and give me the 1/2 price bottle since it was more. He professed distress at the waste of a Scoutmob and I assured him that it didn't matter to me, since I probably wasn't coming back. The food, however, was phenomenal. I had the pork chop and my friend had the filet with horseradish sauce. Delicious, tender, flavorful. And I did find a new favorite wine out of the experience. I am just disappointed that the manager refused to compromise in anyway, or even come over to the table; they did all their negotiating through the server, who had given us the bad information in the first place! Too bad.

What a nice surprise! I met some friends here for lunch/brunch and was very pleasantly surprised by the menu, the patio, the ambiance, as well as and most importantly, the food. I ordered from the brunch menu - chicken and waffles please, kthnx! The food was great! The chicken = two strips, not too salty. And the waffle was big and crunchy, yet soft where it counted. The service was a little up and down but overall okay. And I loved the fact that you could bring doggies onto the patio and that they even have their own little doggie menu with food served on doggie plates/bowls. CUTE! I'd love to bring my fur baby sometime. Overall, I like the location and can't wait to go back and chill on the patio on another lovely Saturday afternoon.

A wack review for a wack experience. By the looks of others' reviews, I may need to try it again sometime. I couldn't find anything on the dinner menu that I wanted, so I settled for chicken piccata. Boo. It was greasy fried yuckiness. And the decor...*sigh* I'm really at a loss for words. It was totally underwhelming.

I only Yelp about establishments that I rate 1 or 5, but in this particular instance I am writing a review. Read my review and you will see why. Had lunch at Nancy G's on a Sunday afternoon and had the pleasure of tasting a yummy veggie sandwich! The veggies (zucchini, red onion, yellow squash, portabella mushrooms) were marinated in this lovely balsamic base dressing sandwiched between goat cheese....YUM! The only downside to the sandwich was the bread, not very good. I like crisp and porous ciabatta, this was not. I took the top half off and enjoyed my veggie sandwich open-faced. Nancy G's isn't the only restaurant that misses the mark on bread. I have dined at other establishments that fail to understand that bread is the closer! Come on folks, let's take a stand and demand good bread...good bread, good bread, good bread. But overall I enjoyed the sandwich. For my side I enjoyed the sweet potato fries, which I also recommend. If your in the area give Nancy G's and their veggie sandwich a go, just remember what I said - we have a right to good bread. With good bread this would be a 5-star sandwich.

I was hoping to really like this neighborhood place but no go for me. I went for dinner a couple nights ago. The menu is varied from sandwiches, salads, burgers & entrees. I didn't find the entrees to be the most healthy as described so I went with a chef type salad. It was OK, nothing special. When ordering I had put my glasses away and asked the server what were the dressings? He replied that they were listed on the menu. OK then, out come the glasses again. My friend had salmon with veggies. The aspargus were so over cooked or steamed they looked wilted on the plate. She said her meal was "ok." The server started out kinda abrupt but I think tried to soften as the meal went on....All in all, an OK but nothing special.

This restaurant was recommended to me by a member of the Sandy Springs Society. It was everything that was promised and so much more. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the food was very good. It was clear from the other dinners that this was definitely a spot that the locals frequent! I had the pork chop and mashed potatoes and my dining partner had the steak. Both dishes were cooked perfectly and very tasty. I would definitely go back if I am in Sandy Springs again.

I loved this place... everything about it, from the back deck with the live music to the fish tacos and salad with oranges was out of this world... also, the sweet tea was pretty delicious. All in all, great food, great service, and an unexpectedly great location.

This is our standard "neighborhood hang-out" and where my husband and I always go for a quick meal when I don't feel like cooking. The hamburgers are heavenly, and best of all, they don't cook them to death. If you order them medium rare, that's how they come. They're nice thick juicy patties. What's not to love? Other standard favorites of ours are: shrimp and grits, caesar salad topped with grilled salmon, and fried chicken. This is not gourmet fare - just as close to good home cooking as you'll get when eating out. The owner, Nancy, is there most of the time, and always provides a warm welcome. Highly recommended for folks who live int the Chastain Park area. Oh, and we take our dogs and eat on the outside patio when the weather permits.

yeah, i see all the good reviews on here, but my experience was not pleasurable at all! i came here b/f my hair appointment to get something to go. i saw the lunch specials at great prices and they even included the drink, but the self-titled Nancy G. salad caught my eye. i ordered it without onions and was so excited to get it. i was so disappointed when i walked over to my hair app and saw my creation. nothing but spinach. about a tablespoon of Mandarin oranges and even less little chopped up pecans. i paid 6 or 7 dollars for some freaking spinach (see picture). I could have walked myself over to the kroger (in the same shopping center) and got a bag of spinach $2, a can of Mandarin oranges 60 cents and a little bag of pecans $1.59 and some dressing $1.00. I'm just saying, how are you going to skimp on a salad that is named after the owner. i really wanted to love this place b/c its independently owned and I love supporting places like that. they also have picnic meals for shows at Chastain (i loved this idea), they have a great variety on the menu, and they are kid friendly. i knew i wasn't going to be a fan of this place when after making my order, i was standing at the front counter trying to get my credit card out and who other than Nancy G. herself was standing on the other side of the counter. she didn't even acknowledge my existence. i got out my credit card and tried to pay, she took my card and my bill, and btw still hadn't uttered a single word to me, and gave it to a server to ring me up. i thought this was absurdly rude, but was willing to overlook it if the food was good. needless to say i wont be going back.

I came here again since my previous visit and this time I tried the country fried chicken breast. This was a nice change from the previous visit. The service was great as usual and we even had brief random visits to each table from the owner and management ensuring that people were happy with their meal. There was talented live music out on the patio that played music during our whole stay here. A very nice personal touch. We started with the calamari which was generous in portion with 2 yummy dipping sauces. It was great and something we have gotten on nearly every visit here. Then came the main course. The chicken was cooked perfectly, still plump and juicy inside while still being fully cooked. The green beans still had its full flavor without being overpowered with any kind of buttery taste. The mac and cheese tasted delicious being rich and creamy. It was the perfect blend for a home cooked style meal. Everything was much better from the original visit.

I tried out Nancy's because a co worker said they had a good lunch special. Sandwich with fries, sweet potato fries, homemade chips, or a cup of soup, with a drink for under $6. I ended up going for the Asian chicken wrap (7.95). I asked for french fries, I received sweet potato. I should have checked my order given the confusion/absence of staff. I placed my order with one lady. And another guy brought out the food, and another lady took my payment. lunch was yummy though, and I might go back!

I'll get right to the point: I really like Nancy G's. My father had been raving about the place for quite some time, and he has taken me there for dinner twice. I have to agree with him...the food is consistently excellent. The sea bass I had last weekend was outstanding. I loved the tomato cream sauce, plus the steamed vegetables which were surprisingly crisp and delicious with the fish. Oh but the potatoes au gratin were SUBLIME (why doesn't Yelp let us use italics? Hmm). Creamy with just a hint of crunch on top where the cheese had browned into a savory crust...mmm mmm! Also worth noting are the tiny homemade biscuits which arrive at the table in a little steel bucket - a nice touch. It's actually a good thing the biscuits are so small. Otherwise I could see myself filling up on those and missing out on the main course (which actually might not be TOO bad- those miniature delights are absolute perfection, especially slathered in butter). Service is tops as well. Nancy herself even came over to our table last time to chat for a while. Such a kind, genuine person who really knows how to run a restaurant! Although I don't live in Atlanta anymore, Nancy G's strikes me as the kind of place local families go for a great meal any night of the week. The fact that this little neighborhood restaurant is located in a strip mall doesn't really bother me, either. Maybe it's because I remember when Tanner's used to occupy that same space; my family and I were regulars there when I was growing up. Nostalgia gets me every time!

Cute place for being stuck in the corner of a strip mall. The ambiance is like you've stepped into your mom's adorable kitchen with a beachy theme. It's classy but enough of a laid back approach to make you feel welcome. I think the food is good there but I just really struck out with my meals. I shared a tomato basil salad that was HORRIBLE! the green tomatoes were bitter and they dumped a TON of black balsamic on top that made it was too acidic. It is usually my favorite salad to order but I couldn't even take a 3rd bite. I ordered Nancy's flatbread that had bacon, onion, feta cheese with a garlic sauce. The flavors were delicious but waaaaay too greasy for me. The people I was with had great meals; scallop and shrimp pasta and the salmon. Maybe seafood was the way to go? I think I'll give this place a second shot because I think it can do better...

I'm often wary of restaurants that set up shop in a strip mall. Nancy G does a good job of combating the suburb exterior with an interestingly simple homey without being overkill interior. Tables and booths are either tucked into cute little spaces or arranged in a cozy but naviagatable (yes, that's a word) setting. A dash of whimsical, a pinch of whimsy, and a handful too many overstuffed pillows gives you the impression that your mama's been a little busy while you were at summer camp and you've returned home to her too cool for school kitchen. The patio was very appealing, although since our party consisted of a couple of well dressed gals who didn't want their make-up to run, we chose a well placed table on the veranda...complete with both air-conditioning and the ability to hear the live music. We started our meal off with an order of the garlic hummus (with pita points!) and Nancy's Fried Green Tomatoes. The hummus was delish, as was the FGT, I assume. We ordered a round of beverages from the bar. My friend's Long Island Iced Tea appeared to be up to par. My Bloody Mary, while good, was a tad watered down from the start. Not bad enough to complain or return, however. For dinner I enjoyed the day's special...grouper...while my fellow diners enjoyed trout, cedar plank salmon, country fried chicken and one other chicken dish. The salmon looked amazing; my grouper was very good and well presented, as was the trout. The country fried chicken looked like something my grandmother would have straight up served with pride. I heard no complaints on the food. The staff was nice enough to place our homemade birthday cake in the fridge for us while we dined, which was greatly appreciated. Everyone we came in contact with was friendly and eager to help. Nancy G herself even stopped by our table to say hi and wish the birthday girl a happy one. Overall, a nice kicky little place for some varied, fancy down-home cooking and laughter with friends.

I definitely recommend Nancy G's for a lazy Saturday evening supper with friends and family. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, the staff accommodating and helpful, and the food was super delicious. i had a maple glazed trout that was just sweet enough. I suggest sitting on the porch : you can hear the live band from the patio, but there's air conditioning. I would love to return here for brunch.

The food is good, but the policies are a joke. We went here on Tuesday with a Groupon for $30. We spent $65 ($13 on 1/2 price wine). They said they would not take the groupon since we ordered wine and it was 1/2 price wine night. WTH - we spent $52 in food on a Tues. How are you not going to take a Groupon?? They eventually stated they would take it, but only after I raised cain. Then, our waiter walked by our table 4x to get checks from other tables RIGHT NEXT TO US. I finally walked up to the register to pay. I go out to eat not to fill my belly, but to be treated well also. You missed it Nancy.

We were coming back from Chastain Park and wanted to go out to dinner. I remembered reading about Nancy G's in Simply Buckhead and wanted to try out the fried green tomatoes. We were amazed at the level of service and cooking skill here! It was much better than we would have expected from a small restaurant calling itself a cafe. We sat out on the back deck which was very nice and fun for my son once some dog owners started arriving. The inside of the restaurant also looks very nice and cozy though we did not see it all. The owner Nancy was there and was super friendly and professional. They have a great kids menu and also have stacks of coloring books and crayons to use which my son absolutely loved. My husband was happy with his gluten-free menu choices and large $5 (!) glass of wine. I had trouble choosing from the menu since I pretty much wanted everything, but went for the linguine and veggies to go with my fried tomatoes and they were both great choices. We will be back again to try some of the other items soon! Not sure if I am a fan of the fried green tomato but these were very nicely presented stacked with goat cheese and a coulis sauce. Highly recommended!

I was here for a recent alumni event and got to try a bunch of the appetizers. You MUST try the fried pickles. They are by far one of the best items on the menu and a true southern classic. The hummus dip and calamari are also very good.

If extensive menus cause you anxiety, step away from this particular one. Actually, the options here are so extensive that you'll get more than one menu if you're there during brunch on weekend days. This makes me happy, and the fact that the menus are really just pieces of paper on a clipboard makes me even happier -- personal touch is nice. Nancy G's Cafe offers foods with a Southern flair that appeal to seemingly every palette. The fact that they serve tater tots with their omelets is enough of a selling point for me. Here's some more to chew on: Blue Chips -- homemade potato chips with melted blue cheese, bacon and scallions; Stuffed French Toast; Burgers; Fish Tacos ... Top all that off with some Homemade Banana Pudding and Fried Apple Wontons ... or just stick with the Peach Cobbler.

I had a great meal here with a friend. She recommended the place and I just had to YELP it before agreeing. As soon as I saw Kathleen's two reviews, I knew this would be a winner. I loved the decor, the service and the menu. You could easily eat here on the cheap by getting a sandwich or salad or you can bump up the ticket to moderate pricing by ordering an entree. I decided to order the fried green tomatoes, country-fried chicken breast with mac & cheese, and the peach bread pudding. The Southern Girl Trifecta! My friend shared the tomatoes and dessert with me and ordered the chicken salad pita for her entree. None of these items disappointed as they were fresh and offered lots of great flavors. Also, the portions were large enough that I ended up with a bit of the chicken and mac & cheese to take home. It was so good that I ate my leftovers at 10AM the next morning, convincing myself that it was totally appropriate for breakfast. HA! I can't wait to go back and take some friends and family with me. There was a great mix of larger parties, couples, and even families with small children.

I have only ever tried their country fried chicken with a side of mashed potatoes and mac n cheese and let's just say that I will only ever try this when I eat here. It is so good and a great place to have a southern cooking treat. I have only eaten here for lunch with co-workers but in my three visits I've never been disappointed.

After reading these great reviews of Nancy G's, my husband and I were excited to try it on our "date night" this weekend. We are both 27 years old, and enjoy trying new restaurants in Atl. When we arrived at Nancy G's around 745pm Saturday night, it didn't take us long to realize we were the only people below age 50 at the restaurant. The hostess, as well as our server, appeared shocked and humored to see us "young people" there. We were like "maybe we are just early...", but no. As the night went on, more and more age 50+ couples walked in. Luckily, the food was delicious. The pimento cheese was awesome, as were the salmon salad and fish tacos. However, this didn't make up for the awkwardness and overly mature atmosphere. As we were leaving, we felt the mockery and pity through the looks of the staff. We won't be back anytime soon, but will DEFINATELY consider Nancy G's for our 30th wedding anniversary or retirement party one day!

Good food, quiet atmosphere, and friendly service! They accomodated our very large group on at least 2 occasions.

Wife and I tried this place for the first time. Food was great but the waiter must have been in training. Had to keep asking for water.

The fried green tomatoes were out of this world! I also had their shrimp and grits, which were OK, but not the greatest. Overall, a good experience. I would definitely eat there again.

Just ok. Great variety in menus but lacks their own unique flair. Great Mac n cheese!
