Some of the best tacos in town. Our favorite tacos include the shrimp, taco chino, steak, and whatever the fish of the day happens to be (grilled). I've brought a bunch of friends here, and they always ask to return. The tacos are a bit pricey, but tasty.

I recommed for vegans and vegetarians. good the Poblano rings were so good, I thought they would be like really greasy and they aren't. . They are stuffed with some cheese, and spaces to dunk. So yummy! I had the tofu tacos they were soooooooo good. The people were very nice.. The outside seemed shady but the inside is very "day of the dead" themed.

Chipotle Cheese Dip Grilled Chicken Tacos Beans & Rice Skinny Margarita with Devils Water Not recommended. The drink was OK. The service was sub par and the food wasn't any better. The cheese dip was super thick and lacked flavor. $26 later... Disappointed However... The restaurant was really cool and the atmosphere was nice, clean, and trendy.

Been to so many Mexican resturant in atlanta and around. This is the best Mexican we have ever had. The green chip sauce is the best, and the green Spanish rice was put of the world. Mush try if you like Mexican food.

we live in the neighborhood and haven't been to this place before so decided to try it for dinner and drinks on a Friday. It didn't get overwhelmingly busy, but it had a pretty good crowd around seven. We sat on the patio and had the house margaritas, which were pretty good and not too sweet. Chips and queso and salsa were delicious and the meals were all good too. I had the shrimp tacos and they were good. My roommates had the veggie enchilada and were impressed. DO NOT drink the devil's water unless you like bad, spicy tequila. We only got this because it was free with a yelp check in. Friendly service and a good local joint hidden just off memorial. Great place to get Mexican and margaritas with friends.

I love this hidden gem of a restaurant. Sooo cozy inside. Perfect for an intimate date or a lunch with friends in the afternoon. We found this place looking for the back parking lot for tin lizzies and found this instead! It's pretty much the same thing but with more authentic food and alcohol selection and way more chill vibes. Their guacamole is soooo delicious and I got some of their tacos. Much better substitute for tin tizzies cantina. It is a little hidden but always parking and never packed when I went. The servers are so cool and kind, that topped off my experience at this place. With the chips and salsa appetizer they give you two delicious types of salsa. And instead of normal dirty Rice they serve green rice with the meals that comes with rice and beans and that rice was delicious. Forreal. Very very affordable and a little bit of food goes a long way. My new replacement for tin lizzies cantina.

I absolutely love this place!! The people are very welcoming. You feel like you are hanging out with long lost friends. The food is excellent! I can't get enough of $2 tacos Mon-Thurs.This is not a Tex-Mex place. Brunch is my favorite time to come so we can be merry with bottomless mimsos.

I'm a visitor to the area who found this place as it was close to where I'm staying. They offer $2.00 tacos during lunch hour. I sampled the steak, fried chicken, teriyaki and pork tacos. They were ample in size and almost too much food. The environment is nice and the service was good.

There was no hostess when we arrived, so we waited to be greeted for quite some time. Right before we were about to leave, someone came to seat us. Service there forward was slow, but not terrible. The Thursday skinny margarita was delicious with a generous pour, making it well worth the $10. The verde salsa is def one of my favorite salsas I've had from anywhere. My dairy-free shrimp taco was very good. The dairy-free fish I'll probably not order again bc it tasted like it was missing something (but that's something you learn to live with when you have a dairy allergy). Overall, I will certainly come back. Only if I have the time to relax and the patience to not care about the less than "speedy" service.

My mom and I came here for lunch last Wednesday. They have $2 tacos M-Th before 4:00, and that just seemed like the perfect deal. I will say, when we first sat down our service was a little on the slow side, but not ridiculously so. I think I only noticed it because the restaurant was pretty empty (maybe 5 tables total), but there was only one server and we weren't in a hurry, so it was totally fine. Our server, by the way, seemed a little harried, but was perfectly polite, as was the runner that brought us our food. I ordered 3 tacos ((steak, shrimp, and fish), and my mom ordered 2 (steak and fish) plus a salad (salad). The tacos, in my opinion, were amazing. One of them I literally described as "bursting with flavor". I was so happy with the fairly simple ingredients providing such a great punch. My tacos were spicy, and full of lime, onion and cilantro - which I personally love. Also, temperature-wise, the meat was hot and the tortillas had recently been steamed. I mention this, because so many folks recommend skipping this place and going to Tin Lizzy's, and I have to say I've been unimpressed with the latter - because my food is always tepid and the tortillas are cold/unsteamed. The one piece of our meal that didn't impress me was the salad, but it's a house salad and no one goes to a Mexican restaurant for the house salad. I just moved to the neighborhood, so I'm sure I'll be revisiting this place often. :)

Today was "eat Mexican day "with my only friend that is truly dedicated to this day and our love for all the spices, cheese melts , and everything else that goes along with a successful Mexican experience. We had finished an intense workout ...that lead into one of our many Mexican days. As we researched , he mentioned this place that we both had not been. Very cool place In town and the place looks great. The decor was different than the other places in town and the food as well. They had some unique items and the tamales are the beat I have had . You can get your basic tacos but you can also get a sandwich w a Mexican flair..or fried chicken w a mole sauce on plantains... Many options for mixed drinks and bottomless options on Saturday and Sunday morning. I will definitely be back. Only side note is service at bar...not super attentive...didn't bring us napkins or plates etc..but it could be they take a slow pace to doing things cause it fits with the low key style... Great find! It will be visited again during Mexican day!

Mezcalito's has become my "go to" spot for Mexican food, especially since they opened this location in Grant Park. I love the other location in Oakhurst, but Grant Park is a just a bit more convenient. The food is scrumptious and fresh and the service is fast and friendly. I typically order the roasted chile rellano. It comes with their signature green rice and beans. The tofu tacos are also grand. A lot of Mexican restaurants struggle with vegan/vegetarian options but Mezcalito's does me proud. The beans and rice are lard-free- yippee! I wasn't in love with the house margarita, but the El Skeleto (skinny Margarita) makes up for it. Spend the extra cash and try this one! Speaking of extra cash, the chips and salsa aren't on the house here- just an FYI. Order them anyway, you'll be glad you did. The atmosphere at Mezcalito's is very laid back. I've never had to wait for a table even though they always seem to have a full house. This would be a great date spot, friend spot, drink at the bar spot, etc. Give it a try.

I love this neighborhood Mexican joint. The side salad believe it or not is my favorite. The dressing they use is the perfect balance of citrusy sweet and vinegary. I've tried the beef brisket taco, Mexican lasagna, grits, chicken, mushroom, and poblano enchiladas, and their fish dish. All have been wonderful. Their chips are addictive but are not free. The tomatillo salsa is my favorite. Sometimee their drinks can be a hit or miss but when it's a hit, it's delicious. I adore this place and plan on throwing more money at them soon.

We were part of a large group on the patio. I had tamales, which are my favorite Mexican dish but hard to find, and they were excellent. Guacamole and salsas served as apps were very good - we ordered more. Green chicken enchiladas were also quite good. The beer selection included good craft beers. I was impressed with the adaptations of traditional dishes to accommodate vegetarians.Service was a little slow as the place was very busy.

This is an early bird review of a still-forming, primordial restaurant in its infancy. Take this review as you will. It would be an easy mistake to think Mezcalito has been here a while. The space is well-hewn and the menu is well-developed. Mezcalito looks like it's been I Grant Park forever. This being a second location, the prior experience of running another restaurant serves them well. It's only when you start interacting with the well-meaning, but still learning, still weeded staff that you realize "Oh man, this place is still a bit away from its sea legs." A quick glance at its website (and well as a conversation with most GP residents whose responses range from "Oh, I've been WAITING for that place to open!" to "Mezca-what?") confirms the newness of this restaurant. Now that my hedge is out there, let's talk about details. First, to all you old GP residents, Mezcalito is in that half-cylinder airplane hanger looking building behind Tin Lizzy's that almost everyone of us has passed and thought, "Wonder where that came from? That's probably make a cool bar or something." Wonder no more; Mezcalito fills out the space right. It's downright gorgeous in there. The food is tasty, though probably a smidge pricier than you'd normally expect from "Mexican." I put mexican in quotes because this isn't really standard "Tex-Mex." Instead, you get braised meats, moles of varying color, and food with which I was mostly pleased. (For the record, I wolfed down a plate of beef chile relleno.) It kind of reminded me of Zocalo back in its prime and before it made me want to bash my head in with one of those heavy lava rock bowls you use to make guacamole. No, you won't get a complimentary bowl of chips. As I said, this isn't Tex-Mex, though I'll cop to a slight disappointment in no free chips because, hey, 1) "free" and 2) I'm fat. I saw several tequilas, but ever since that argument I had several years ago with tequila (spoiler: I lost), I quickly moved on to the next part of the menu. The wine list is distinctly Latin, populated with several South American varietals. Since I'm not exactly a wine douche, I can't speak to quality or types. Hell, I got a glass of $5 house red, whose availability (and more precisely its price), I greatly appreciated. That brings us to the service. Oh, bless their hearts. They're trying. They're just not there yet. Questions about the menu were met with a stammer and a "Hold on." The timing of food arrival and check distribution is still off. They didn't gather up the menus after we ordered. Stuff like that. Two weeks in, I can't complain much. I would, though, if I showed up 3 months from now and the same thing happened. For now, though, be a little patient, you'll get your food. A provisional four stars.

Ah where to begin. Let's start with the bartender we will call him Rico Suave, who talked wayyy too fast and kept insisting that any drink we buy must be in a pitcher... Also as I ordered my meal he so eagerly ran away before my friend could put her order in. I also enjoyed when I ordered Chorizo and what came out was watered down queso with some ground up tubed meat thrown on top. Yummy. I thoroughly enjoyed my chicken and cheese quesadilla with no cheese with ketchup drizzled on top. Don't even get me started on the margarita. I am going to stop here and say don't waste your time and just go to Taco Bell.

First trip to Mezcalito's last night, and it was a positive experience. Doesn't hurt that they're walking distance from my house, and there was a beautiful sunset on the way there. There's a parking lot in case you're driving, and it's about a 10 minute walk from the King Memorial Marta station. The atmosphere is great - lots of dark colors, indirect lighting, Dia de los Muertos style decorations (but not overwhelming), beautiful patio, big interior space (looks like they repurposed a mechanic's garage). The sound level inside was just right. Service was efficient and friendly. Vegetarian offerings made me happy. I had an order of Maduros which had just the right amount of caramelization, and also a veggie taco that had a lot of nice textures and flavors. My boyfriend got the Taquitos Dorados, and was very happy with it. I didn't love the house margarita - seemed a little dull. The specialty drinks are a little too rich for my blood, so I'll probably go for one of their cheap beers next time.

Good Mexican food is hard to come by. Usually you find yourself in a dark, strip mall joint where everything is covered in cheese and melted in a greasy pile. Let's face it, most of the time you only go because the margaritas make up for the food. Along came Mezcalito's. It's almost hidden. In fact, I didn't know about it until I had to park way down the street from Republic and saw a silver shed nearby. Recently, I finally got the opportunity to give this place a try. On a Thursday afternoon, this place was pretty dead, granted it was that awkward time between lunch and dinner, around 2:45pm. I figured it was close enough to 5pm that I ordered a Mojito. There were so many good choices on the menu that I couldn't decided on lunch! I finally ended up with the Poblano Enchiladas. The interior of the restaurant is casual and cool, without being overly kitsch with Mexican trinkets. There's a good variety of Tequila behind the bar, and I enjoyed all the metal accents. The Mojito was light and refreshing, as it should be. My enchiladas were delicious. I ate the whole plate without even realizing it! The poblano sauce was smooth and not overpowering. The filling was proportioned nicely without the slather of cheese you know you're used to. The green rice flavored was cilantro was so fresh! It was even better mixed into the sauce. It puts Chipotle's rice to shame (yeah, I said it). The portion was a good idea. 2 enchiladas, rice, and beans. My friend got the super quesadilla with a side salad, and she had a lot of food (I was eye-balling it, no lie). This is definitely a great spot in the neighborhood. Make your way over! Be sure to use the Yelp check-in for 10% off. There was also a Scoutmob when I went so check that out as well.

Meh. I'll stick with Mi Barrio. I know what I'm getting when I order there! The service was good. We were one of only 3 tables in there, so I'm not sure what its like when they are actually busy. Our server was very nice and attentive. The food was definitely not the greatest and extremely overpriced, in my opinion. I had a tamale, which was huge - but the detail on the menu did not state that there was cheese on top or in the tamale. Also, the menu fails to tell you that there are raisins in the ground beef mixture for the tacos. Be more specific with your menu so people know what they are ordering, please!

The bad reviews are really undeserved. I just tried this place a week ago and my mom and I really enjoyed it. She wasn't thrilled with her first margarita (the generic one at the top of the drink menu) - it just wasn't strong enough, but she loved the Pom'rita she ordered right after. I had the Blueberry'rita and I loved it but I also love blueberries.... Food was great - who cares about green rice? Get over it people. And the idiots who think the tomatillo salsa is actually guacamole - are you kidding me? Guacamole was great, not as spicy as I like but really good. I had the fried tilapia tacos and loved them - the jalapeno slaw was pretty spicy but easily put out with the Terrapin Pineapple Express I ordered (YUM!). My mom had the shrimp tacos and she enjoyed them. Chips were great. Server was attentive and nice and gave good recommendations. We'll definitely be back.

This is our go to mex place. From apps to entrees to kidd menu everything is excellent. We moved away and took a break for 5 years eating here and now we are back to the neighborhood and the food is still amazing and people are still awesome. One of those places you feel like you belong there. Thanks guys ....

If I still lived in Grant Park, I could definitely see myself frequenting this place when the cravings for Mexican took hold. We stopped at Mezcalito's one Wednesday evening to grab a quick dinner. We weren't really intending to come here, so there weren't really any expectations. I knew that this place had recently opened, so why not?!? We requested to sit on the patio and were told to help ourselves. We grabbed a table and a friendly waiter stopped by to grab our drink orders. The beer selection here is decent, but nothing overly exciting. The menu was intriguing as well. Not your standard tex-mex fare that most Atlanta restaurants serve up. There was a nice combination of authentic Mexican cuisine and the Americanized favorites that we've all come to appreciate. Servers seemed to be well informed and were able to promptly answer questions about menu items and provide recommendations. On this occasion, I went with the steak and goat cheese enchiladas with mole rojo. A hearty "not bad". I wouldn't say they were outstanding, but the steak was tender and the mole was quite good. However, the entire thing could have used a bit more seasoning. Overall, a good experience. Mezcalito's is a great addition to the neighborhood and I'll definitely be back to try out more of their menu.

I want to say first that our server Gonzalo was awesome! He did everything he could to make the dining experience perfect. The food was just OK. I didn't think it was overpriced like other reviewers say. The drinks were ok too. Now for the disapointments. Mezcalito's does not serve nachos, burritos or fajitas. The patio seats smell like rotten sewage and is next to two trash dumpsters. I happened to be there on a night that off-duty Mezcalito servers were having a wild time on the patio drinking, cursing, singing, having loud offensive conversations and running around horse playing with other working servers -except Gonzalo. It was obnoxious and rude to the real customers there that night. Sorry, I don't have a reason to come back ever.

Went here on a Scout Mob deal with my roommate. We ended up sending our food back and leaving (which I never do) because it was just that bad. We started with chips and salsa, which was $3 and came with two salsas that had no flavor or spice and were the consistency of runny baby food. After being underwhelmed by the chips and salsa I decided to play it safe and order an $11 chicken quesadilla. My room mate got the $12 cheese enchiladas with mole sauce. BIG mistake. There were two other tables in the restaurant and I watched our food sit under the heat lamps for 5 mins while our server was busy writing something on a chalk board. The chicken in my quesadilla had the consistency of a sloppy joe. It was also really soggy due to the fact that they plated it on top of a heap of green rice and poured some kind of salsa over the whole thing. My roommates enchiladas are what really caused us to send everything back and leave. His plate looked like somebody thew up on it. There was so much sauce on there that he had to "fish" around to even find the enchilada. This is a disgrace to Mexican food and I hope the owner can get it together. They should put as much time and effort into the food and management as they did with the interior and decor. WAY overpriced, bad service, terrible food.

For Mexican food this was pretty bland. Service was great but food was not. Had a steak which was pretty tough. Cheese and tomato sauces were not tasteful. Had to dump the bowl of salsa in my plate to get some flavor. Plus why oh why do they charge for chips and salsa???

Food was sub-par, especially for the prices. Restaurant was new and nicely decorated but in a really weird location. Server was rather unprofessional. My bf and I came here with a Scoutmob deal. With the deal we got three flights of tequila and two shots of their house spicy tequila (Devil's Water might have been what they called it). We also got chips and guacamole, two entrees from a short list, and a cranberry bread pudding dessert. We really enjoyed getting to sample the tequila. Also, the guacamole was really good. Things really only went downhill with the main dishes came out. We got the streak and goat cheese enchiladas (served with green cilantro rice and black beans) and chicken kebabs with the same sides. The dishes looked pretty. The enchiladas were not good. The tortilla seemed almost raw and was soggy on the inside. It was unpleasant to eat. The chicken was alright but not something I would get again. No one liked the rice. The cranberry bread pudding was great. Overall, I just cannot recommend the food. Our server was really unprofessional the whole time. She spent a lot of time chatting with friends, didn't bring new chips, and was casual to the point of mild rudeness when speaking to us. The drinks and guacamole were good. However, their drink prices are pretty high and there are a ton of better options in that area.

We had a Scoutmob local deal that came with a flight of tequilla, 2 devil's waters, guac, 2 entrees and a special dessert. The place is really comfortable, parking a plenty, and staff is friendly. The guac had more tomato in it than I prefer, but it was seasoned well. The shots were good. The Devil's water is tequilla with any spicy peppers they have thrown in and then is just sits... until someone wants it. It's spicy, good spicy, but spicy. I had the pork tamale... my life's love... and they did it justice. The thing was so light and slightly fluffy and the filling was full of flavor and slightly spicy. My guy had the taquitos, they came with rice and a salad. We dipped the taquitos in the salad dressing... we didn't know. Well, we are going to keep doing it. That shit is GOOD. The cranberry bread pudding with a tequilla sauce was the noms. We are going to come back... at least monthly. It's one hood over, and with a large patio. I feel bike rides to this place this summer in my future.

VIBE: I like the darker ambience of this place and the more upscale vibe than the other choices of Mexican restaurants in the area. FOOD: The food is more authentic Mexican and the enchiladas I had were delicious (cheese with a mole sauce, yummmm). The tamales were also top notch as well. For desert, we had the churros with the chocolate sauce... also way delicious. DRINKS: As far as drinks go, I tried the Arizona (tequila, lime, and pacifico in a pint glass) and it was rather tasty. SERVICE: Friendly staff, great host and quick, friendly table service. Overall, if you want a little more upscale, more authentic Mexican restaurant, I would check out Mexcalitos.

The only reason I came here is because it is a partner with Rapid Rewards and I was really wanting some hot soup. So I ordered a large hot CHICKEN soup with tortilla shells. WELL.... I got the soup in a TINY ass container and the tortilla shells were in the soup. So, by the time I got home it was all soggy in the soup and mushy. When I was mid way through my soup I thought to myself, "Didn't I order a chicken soup?" Well, I ate the entire thing and NOT one bite of chicken. It was disappointing. Why the 2nd star because it other than the soggy tortilla shells and the lack of any chicken, the tastes are good.

We had a large group and I understand this is a new place but, we had a few issues last Sunday. Food was pretty good but service was really slow. We were charged $50 for very average, not strong, pitcher of margaritas. When everyone was done the wait staff couldn't separate out checks so we ended up doing this ourselves. It took over an hour just to pay! I understand we had a big party so I'm not super concerned with that - the margaritas were way over priced for what we got. They still have some kinks to work out. It was really nice to have a patio that we could bring the dogs to.

Went here last night due to my wife having a Scoutmob coupon for them. It's built out of an old warehouse (looks like an old hangar) just across the street from Oakland Cemetery. So here's are the pros and cons according to my style: Pros: 1. Plenty of parking behind the building for people. You can park on the street but be mindful that there have been issues with car break-ins so hide your shinies. 2. The food was decent. I opted for the cheese enchilada meal. Consisted of two enchiladas, rice, and black beans. The rice was good as I don't typically eat rice anymore. The enchiladas were a combination of jack and goat cheese and I thought it was a little too heavy on the goat cheese leaving it tasting unbalanced (a little too tart). We also ordered tortillas with cheese dip. I felt that there wasn't enough dip for two people. Not asking for a monster bowl, but something a little bigger might be in order because we were conservative on our dipping and ran out with about a third of the chips left. 3. The service was decent but I could tell they were understaffed, especially for a Friday night. That could break their back if they aren't careful. 4. I did notice a weekend special on mimosas and bloody marys. It looked like unlimited amounts so if you love those things then come here to load up. Cons: 1. As stated, the food seemed unbalanced in its creation. The goat cheese overpowered the rest of the enchilada. The tomatillo sauce was good though as it had a bit of kick that I would expect from a sauce. 2. Service seemed a little spotty due to being understaffed. Not a big fan of waiting for water for extended periods. Seemed to be the trend around the place. 3. Relatively average menu in comparison to other places. Nothing innovative here that would warrant their prices being higher than other spots. There's an authentic place just down the road I will frequent more often than here. 4. They were trying in vain to add a bit of a sports bar element to the atmosphere. Of all things there were tuned into golf. Golf on a Friday night? It's baseball season and there's bound to be some games on around the country. Not a good choice for viewing at all. Overall it's another okay addition to a neighborhood that really could use places with some personality and flair. I feel that's it's pretty average when compared to what it could offer. This is a section of Grant Park that is much more eclectic than the rest of the this wonderful section of Atlanta. Hope it can bring it up a notch or it's not going to be in business for longer than a year or two.

Very poor service. Extremely slow - food was no longer hot by the time it got to me. On top of all this, the food was just average and way overpriced. Would not recommend.

The place was dead and even though the drink specials were in the drink menu our waiter needed to go check what they were for 10 minutes. The Smoky Mezcal-Rita was horrible, they did take it back no problem but horrible!!!! The portions were very small. Would much rather go around the corner to Tin Lizzys....To bad we can not find our waiter to pay our bill!

This place was nothing special. The only thing I was slightly impressed by were their beans and rice. I got a taco plate, having been a bartender and server at a Mexican restaurant for a couple years that was actually really well done and gourmet, going here was just kind of a let down. Staff was really slow, I got a margarita as did my friend and we both couldn't even taste any tequila so the drinks were kinda weak. The flavoring of the tacos was just off as was the way the meat was handled. The pork taco was these thick rectangular slices of pork that threw me off so much that I actually said "what is that? Oh I guess that's the pork?" Out loud. The pork taco was pretty disgusting to be honest. Not at all what I imagined. The flavoring here was just all off I think. It just didn't feel like the staff or the cooks cared. Anyway, I will be in search for a taqueria that does it right. This place didn't live up to the reviews it got.

This place was excellent. The food was very authentic and very tasty! Decorations come from Mexico and create a great atmosphere. Ordered the Lomo and was very satisfied. I went with my mom (who happens to be Mexican) and she was impressed by the authenticity, which is quite a feat.

We live in the Grant Park area and frequent Mezcalito's and I must say, some of these reviews are really unfair. People can be very sensitive and picky about their food over mistakes they made when ordering. If it wasn't what you wanted alert the server and ask for them to make it right! Oy. On to my review, we are vegan and love that Mezcalito's always accommodates us in every course. The two salsas with their chips are yummy, and they're one of the only truly authentic Mexican restaurants that offer maduros done right (sweet fried plantains). The gazpacho is amazing... No really... amazing! It's yellow in color and the chef was even kind enough to come out and share the recipe when I asked (hint, it's 100% vegan) the secret ingredient is green apple! The fried tofu tacos are delicious (sans jalapeño crema and cheese), as are their poblano spinach rice and black beans as a side (all vegetarian/vegan). The devils water is great, love the margarita with it. I highly recommend the blueberry margarita as well (fresh, not that nasty mixed stuff). To top it all off, we always order the churros with strawberry sauce. The sauce has a hint of cayenne which makes you want to go back for more--nice touch! Mezcalito's is definitely a must try if you're ever near Oakland Cemetery or Grant Park.

I'm rating this based off of my lunch experiences - which, since they have such a great deal on their tacos (M-Th, any taco is $2), makes this a very good place to eat! Every single person that I've ever brought here for lunch has been nothing but pleased with their food. The tacos are a great size, and stuffed full of food. I'm taking one star off because they charge for chips and salsa, and this is a huge pet peeve of mine in a Mexican restaurant. Sadly, their salsa is pretty boring. It's got a strange extremely blended consistency that is reminiscent of baby food, and doesn't really have much of a taste.

This place is not authentic but it is tasty and it does the trick. I especially like the decor on the inside. We came here for lunch during the middle of the week and the restaurant was a little less than halfway full with one server and one busboy. While the server only checked on us once throughout the meal, he was friendly the entire time and I noticed he kept an eye on us as he zipped around the restaurant trying to keep track of the tables. He also boxed up my leftovers for me which I would have expected to do my own at a casual place like this. I had the chicken and cheese quesadilla. The quesadilla was served over spinach, cilantro, and poblano rice with a generous scoop of sour cream and drizzled with a super thin salsa. The chicken in the quesadilla was more of a pulled chicken rather than chunks of grilled meat which is what is usually served at Mexican restaurants. It was also served with a HUGE side salad, which meant I was barely able to finish half my meal. The lemon vinaigrette dressing on the salad was almost too light and it made me feel like the lettuce was just washed and was still dripping with water because the vinaigrette didn't have that much flavor.

Food was fab! Good sangria too- spiked with tequila. Yum! Try the chino taco and the Piba taco. Brisket taco was yummy too. The Venezuelan avocado sauce was sooo good. Comfortable fun atmosphere.

Absolutely LOVE this place. The ground beef and cheese enchiladas are to die for. The service is always good, never had any complaints in that department. Laid back environment. Kid friendly, but never overflowing with loud and crazy kids. Reasonably priced. Good drink selection and yummy margaritas. Two thumbs up! A welcomed addition to the Grant Park neighborhood.

This was one of the worst dinning experiences I've had in Atlanta!!! I came to the restaurant with a party of 13. We ordered drinks and that didn't take too long to come out, but afterwards our server took forever to come back and take our food order. After waiting for over an hour our food came out probably 50% incorrect. I ordered the spinach and cheese quesadilla which was bland and mediocre at best. The pies de resistance of the dinning experience was the huge roach that crawled on the wall right beside our table. Needless to say myself and my fellow patrons will NOT be returning!!

If a Mexican restaurant can't get their Guacamole right, it's not a good sign. The nacho + Guac appetizer I got from this place was worse than any of the home-made Guac I've cobbled together using online recipes. The rest of the food me and my girlfriend had was dry, flavorless, and generally bad. I won't be ordering from here again.

We had a great time this evening. Our waitress was fabulous and the food (while it could have used a little more salt) was great. Fish tacos and black rice and beans were delicious. The poblano with stuffed veggies and no cheese and their red-sauce was excellent, too. Don't forget the margaritas!

Extremely overpriced food and drinks. Almost $50 for a picture of Margaritta. Everything seemed to be overpriced!! Our friend had a beer, then noticed it expired for a few months earlier. The manager argued stating this was the date it was made, not the expiration date! Wow I wonder what other food in the back has an outdated "made date". We had some very small plate with MOLE sauce. It was $15 for some green rice, 1/3 can of beans, maybe 3oz of chicken (1oz was a huge blob of chicken fat) and it was SMOTHERED in sauce. Maybe worth $5. The green sauce with the chips was good. Kinda sweet, some might not like it but I enjoyed that part. Chips and salsa was good.

This place is the real deal! When I lived in Atlanta 5 years ago I was a 3 day a week regular, and I'm happy to say that since moving to Los Angeles, the food has maintained it's integrity of freshness and authentic flair. To all you haters: you probably have never experienced real Mexican food, nor do you enjoy something that is made freshly with healthy ingredients. Mezcalito's does not coat their delights in butter, waste time adding sugar and nasty preservatives to their insanely good margaritas made with agave and fresh lime, nor do they use a single bit of grade B ground meat smothered in plastic cheese dip. If that's what you want... I suggest you go elsewhere. What you will find is a lovely staff, the best Mexican food Atlanta has to offer, and a consistency of high quality menu items. So, open your mind and your mouth. This is gonna be a tasty ride. Also... Vegans! You'll love this place. Ask for the any vegetarian entree sans cheese no problemo!

Went on a Thursday night. I live in the area and had driven by this new spot a few times just to see what was in the new and eclectic space. When I was starving and that side and Scoutmob said it was nearby, I was sold. Walking in the decor is very unique. Friendly waitress Tequila greeted us (and yes, that is her real name). Service was great as water was always on hand along with condiments to add some more spice to the taco plate I ordered. My +1 had the steak which was a good serving for one. 2 Taco combo is less than $10 and comes with rice and beans. Dim atmosphere, people were at the bar casually and laughing - great social spot, will be back given the location and low cost.

Love this place. The new location is awesome. Great service, and the food never dissappoints. Had the poblano soup, steak and spinach enchiladas. Best thing on the menu? Fish tacos!!!! And the margaritas of course. This place is a mainstay of our diet

We were told 30 minutes when we arrived and it was an hour before we were seated. When we were seated we put in our drink orders and it was another hour before we could get our food orders in. Our party of 7 was given 6 glasses of water. I eventually flagged down the waitress serving a table nearby to ask for tortilla chips, silverware, and a diet coke we ordered with the rest of our drinks. I had to grab another waitress to let our waiter know we were ready to order food. The food took another 20 minutes to arrive. It was delicious, but not my intention to spend 3 hours at this restaurant. It looks like they are severely understaffed and undertrained. They have been made aware of our dissatisfaction by me constantly flagging down other waiters and made no attempt to apologize.

First, it just opened and so I am hoping they are still getting acclimated. Pros 1. The building and decor is awesome. The distressed wood bar is very cool. 2. The menu is simple and has a lot of traditional dishes. 3. The Chicken Milanesa with rice and beans is AMAZING and AUTHENTIC Cons 1. 3 out of the 5 dishes are sampled needed flavor....add spice, your a mexican restuarant....its ok!!!!! 2. Hand rolled Tamal is AWEFULLLLLLLLL, STAY AWAY FROM IT 3. Staff seems a little inexperienced but have a good attitude. I can see this place being packed soon, I hope they get their food in order.

We went there last night for the second time. Overall, we were happy. Parking: a good sized parking lot and a lot of street parking. Location: easy to get to especially if you're familiar with the neighborhood. Appearance: I really like what they did with the space and the patio is nice. Service: As many other reviews have stated, they're understaffed for the amount of customers so the servers appear to be worn out and not as tentative as they could be. The first visit it took us forever to get our drinks and the chips came without the salsa we requested. The second trip was better. Food: I thought it was good. Maybe not the best Mexican I've had, but much better than many of the options in Atlanta. The first trip I tired the chicken mole and the second time I had chicken enchiladas. No complaints. Price: we used a Scout Mob coupon and paid around 30.00 for 2 meals, chips with cheese and salsa, and drinks. I think that's acceptable.

Great little hideaway with a glamorous staff and awesome food... Friendly bar and family oriented dining with a large patio for those warm summer evenings. Not too big, not too small... Good place to take a date, get a little tipsy, then stroll over to Oakland cemetery for a make-out session...

Went last night with a Scoutmob deal, but didn't use it because they ended up comping my horrible dish. $13 for fish flautas that were LOADED with black beans. Oh, and I got a side of black beans, too. I'm still not certain there was any fish inside them. (The waitress didn't check on us until 20 minutes after delivering the food. I had no opportunity to receive a replacement dish, so they comped it. I had chips, salsa, beans and rice for dinner.) My husband's steak taco looked like the meat was factory chopped into uniform grey pieces. He admitted it was flavorless and dry. Salsas also tasted processed and not fresh. It's a gorgeous restaurant and the small pitcher of margaritas we got was strong and tart, but the food we had last night was really bad. They should be ashamed to charge these prices for processed food. We'll not return.

First time coming to this place. I've walked by many times but never thought much of it. I was not expecting such good food, service, and atmosphere. This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant south of Buford Hwy. The food was the perfect blend of authentic and hip (i.e. Americanized). The prices were very reasonable especially for the quality of the food. The guacamole might be my new favorite in the city (sorry El Myr) Its super fresh! The service was very friendly. At times it did feel a little slow but then I realized it was because our server was going around and genuinely interacting with the other customers. Can't complain about that. I can't wait to come back.

We did a Scoutmob deal which brought us to this place that we'd probably not noticed otherwise. I had stuffed peppers with green rice and black beans. Mariano had some skewered chicken kabob things. Both were very good. Margaritas where good. This is in the class with Bone Garden Cantina which is a good thing. Nice comfortable well decorated space. My only complaint is that because we used the scoutmob they asked for my drivers licence and disappeared with it for 10 min and I had to ask to get it back. These days I don't like surrendering my ID. I think looking at it to confirm should be enough. After a margarita or two I might walk out leaving my DL and be in big trouble monday morning trying to board delta.

Excellent salsa, food, staff and mgmt! I would give a 5 if the place was actually a tequila bar. The mgr said they are working on that, so give it some time. I lived in Austin, Texas for many years and am picky about my Mexican food, Margaritas and salsas. They have great rojo y verde salsas! They have something for meat lovers AND vegans like myself and try the devil's water rita! Strong W/a serious kick. Get a real tequila bar and this place is 5 stars.

"bring me a bucket I'm going to throw up" Mr Creosote, Monty Python's Meaning Of Life. The cockroaches met us at the door. We arrived at Mezcalito's at 12pm on a Saturday. I know every place has them but should we see cockroaches walking around in daylight? The fish tacos made a muy rapido exit. I'm sorry Mezcalito's. I never get sick and the fish tacos came highly recommended. Make sure your kids have their booster shots before going in. Nasty.

Awful...like the worst service. Waited for 25 minutes for drinks. The drinks were awful. Waited forever for chips and salsa. Salsa was awful - sweet like candy. Waited for food, then could not eat food because the server didn't give us any silverware. Waited forever for silverware. Waited forever for water. Waitress seemed vacant, like she didn't know that customers need things brought to them. No follow up. And the place wasn't that busy. Well...finally got food and it sucked. Manager doesn't seem to know what's happening. Shouldn't they check on their customers? Bar tender = fire immediately. Wait staff = joke. Food = it's one of THOSE restaurants that likes to add weird spices then call it trendy or fusion. But instead the food just tastes like crap. My friend's food was cold so she sent it back only to have the dIng dongs bring her the wrong food back. By that time we had all finished eating. This place is managed very, very poorly. Will never come back. Disaster. Nice decor though.

Fair Warning: People that have given this place 3 stars and above have either lost their mind or don't know what good food tastes like. Regarding the service: terrible. We had an awful server, we couldn't get refills, had to ask for everything,we were there way too long, food order wrong. Long story short there needs to be some major staff training. And now to the food, all I can say is wow, in a BAD way. It all looked gross on the plate, slopped on there. Enchilada sauce sweet tasting. I didn't like their version of rice. Salsa's mediocre . Guacamole had a cream base or something added to it, not needed, didn't taste right. Margaritas mediocre as well. Everyone in our group did not like their food, drinks and service. Bad experience all the way around. Read the other negative reviews and believe them. We ended up going to Argosy's in east Atlanta for drinks to try and salvage the night and I also ate again when I got there because I couldn't finish my food at Mezcalito's.

I like to try new things. Especially if I have a Scoutmob to entice me. So it was with that attitude that we set out to try Mezcalito's Sunday afternoon. Drinks: I never order a cocktail the first time at a place so I went with my Mexican standby, Negro Medelo ($4.50), delicious and served with a lime. My partner ordered a margarita. For apps, we ordered the chorizo with cheese and the two salsas. The margarita basically came in a shot glass (I had *just* had a conversation with a professional server friend of mine how stupid it is that the new cocktail fad is serving itty bitty cocktails. I do NOT want a margarita that is gone in 2 seconds, especially if it's house tequila. I call shenanigans.) The salsa was more like a sauce. There were no chunks of anything in it. It was pureed until it was the consistency of baby food (just read another reviewer for here that said the same thing). Then I saw a quesadilla on another persons table. We had convinced ourserves to at least split an order of enchiladas but our server disappeared. Like for 20 minutes. So we settled with the bartender and went to Elmyr. I don't understand how someone can take this awesome space (which is the reason I gave it two stars because it is a FABULOUS space) and decided to open ANOTHER mexican place next to Tin Lizzy's & Mi Barrio.

I just took my toddler and husband after receiving a discount on FB. We are huge fans of Mexican but it is pretty sad that after much search in Atlanta our favorite spot is Chitpole. We like good fresh Mexican food but Atlanta is inundated with a bad Mex. restaurants. We eat out 2-3 times a week and take out 2-3 additional times a week (we don't cook much) so when we find a restaurant we like we are LOYAL. We liked: 1)huge parking lot 2)decor, space, cleanliness, service 3)food was pretty good, hubby got the 'huevos con chorizos', I got the 'Mezcalito Lasagna', kid got Quesadillas 4)big patio area, great potential for warmer months We will def return and can't wait to see how the restaurant evolves!

I went for lunch, they have a great deal: $2 tacos for lunch Mon-Thurs. I got the brisket and 2 pork tacos, and they were great! The tacos are loaded with high quality fillings, and are stuffed pretty big. The price was good, the food was good, and I will definitely be back for more tacos.

We live in the neighborhood and had heard from friends that the food here was tasty. But we never got that far. After sitting at our table for at least 15 minutes, we still had not been approached by a server. (Someone did bring us water and menus right when we sat down and told us our server would be right with us.) It looked like the restaurant was understaffed but we also saw the servers standing around chatting. They just appeared to be really disorganized. We got up and left. Not sure that we will ever go back.

Better than Mi Barrio, not as good as Holy Taco. Service was friendly and prompt. Side salad was sizable, but it was just a bunch of chopped romaine lettuce. Nice dressing, though. Menu offered chips with "fresh salsa," but there's NO WAY that salsa was made in-house. Clearly mass produced. My husband's fish taco made his mouth go numb. True fact. Other tacos were fine, though nothing special. I'll return -- they've just opened, and hopefully they'll get it together. But keep your expectations low.

This place was really good! It's kind of a hole in the wall, but I'm glad we tried it. I got the steak taco and the chicken taco...both were delicious (the steak was better). Rice & beans were yummy too (don't be alarmed by their GREEN rice...it's still tasty). My husband got their shrimp special and he said it was ok...it lacked flavor. Our friends got the tofu tacos (she said they were some of the best she's had) and the veggie enchilada. My only beef was right before you walk in the front door it kind of smelled like sewer which was a turn off...but once you're inside the experience was great. It could have just been a weird thing that night we went, so we'll definitely be going back!

I dropped in on this place(which I didn't know was here) b/c of a Scoutmob deal I saw. I wanted something for lunch and I figured i'd try something new...Mezcalito's it was! The host told me the place had only been here for a few days shy of 3 months. My first thought as I pulled into the parking lot was, "Wow, cool building!" When I walked in I was greeted and seated. I must say that service was really good. I looked over the menu and couldn't decide what I wanted. The waiter did an awesome job helping me make a choice. I ordered the shrimp quesadilla which came with a side of rice and black beans. The shrimp quesadilla was really good I must say! It was loaded with shrimp and had a great deal of cheese and peppers to go along. I'd def order this again. The rice left a little to be desired as it didn't have much flavor. The prices are a bit high for a Mexican spot. The Scoutmob deal was definitely appreciated since it made my lunch 50% off. I didn't actually drink any alcoholic beverages since I was still at work but i'll have to go back after hrs and see how the margaritas are.

Went here last night for the first time and really enjoyed the food. The menu seems to fall somewhere between straightforward tex-mex fare and more inventive/experimental Mexican food. I just got some chicken enchiladas, and they were really good. It's in a convenient location for me, and there's a parking lot, which is a plus in that neck of the woods. I liked the general ambiance and style of the place, too. Only drawback I can really comment on was that the service was a little...uneven? Not bad, just a little strange.

I want to start off by saying that I love the food here. But I have been four or five times since this location opened and the service has been poor each time. They need to hire better servers and bartenders. Service bar for drinks is always painfully slow. And having to ask three times for cheese dip is just not cool. When you can't even bring your A Game on the day of the Grant Park Summer Shade Fest, when you know tons of people will be in the area, you have a problem.

Yum! Oh my gosh, this place is my favorite in ATL. I love their tacos and my fav is their tamales (i used to live in LA so I am a bit spoiled). But theirs is the best! They have a friendly staff and cool restaurant environment with an open porch area too! Check it out, you will love it! Ps. I can't be bothered with anything but made to order Guacamole, sorry Mom store bought just won't do.

I wish I could give Mezcalito's 3.5 stars, but once the kinks are ironed out I think it will be a solid 4. I've been twice, both times the service was great and was near capacity. The menu stands out from the "standard homogenized Mexican", but the food, although tasty, seems to have a consistency issue. I wasn't a fan of the green rice either. The drink menu was also unique and drinks were anything but weak.
We came to Mezcalito's with the Scoutmob Handpicked deal. The free parking was great until we later realized we parked on top of the sewer and smelled it in our car for the rest of the night. There was a slight wait but that gave us time to get a drink at the bar and the bar staff was very attentive and helpful. We were seated and approached quickly by our warier who explained the scoutmob and brought the guacamole, tequila, took our orders....and then disappeared. About 30 minutes later, our food came. Sadly I did not realize that the Roasted Chile Relleno on the Scoutmob was the sin carne version. I like meat, y'all. My husband got the steak and goat cheese enchiladas and ate every bite. I ate the rice and beans on my plate, but didn't love all the veggies. To finish it off, the cherry bread pudding was amazing, though we were a little too full from all the chips we ate while waiting for our entrees. Overall, the 3 stars are for the tequila, salsa roja, enchiladas, and atmosphere. The two missing stars are due to the Chile Relleno, unattentive (albeit well-intentioned) wait staff, and smelly parking lot. We'll probably be back.

I think this place is finally working out the kinks. Third time there, food was great, service good, the silver margaritas fantastic. I love the space, and there is plenty of seating. Outdoor seating is being worked on, but the patio is large. The food selection is diverse and interesting. I was very pleased with the shrimp enchiladas, and the shrimp and grits were decent. The salsa is ulta pureed and I prefer a fresher, chunkier salsa. The queso was good but a tiny portion. Now that the problems with the service have been ironed out, I would recommend this as my 2nd go to Mexican restaurant south of I20, with Agave still my favorite (and yes, it is Southwestern, not Mexican).

This is a neat restaurant. This place has good food and very friendly staff. Today marked my second visit. They have great guacamole and I love their chicken sopes! Sopes are a very authentic uncommon menu item in Georgia. This is not to be confused with "sopa" which is soup. Well-made sopes are hard to come by, and Mezcalito's got it right. My friend had the torta lunch special which was huge and looked very appetizing. He said it was really good and he would order it again. This will become my new spot for good "authentic" Mexican food. Welcome to the neighborhood, Mezcalito's!

I wanted to give 2.5 stars, but decided on two. My friend and I did not enjoy the food. We are big Mexican fans, but not here. The building/decor is terrific(hence the two stars), the wait staff is just OK. I heard one of the wait staff recite the specials to another table, but our never did? It seemed some were better than others. Some seemed to wish they could be anywhere except working there. Not sure why they just provide small water glasses. That was odd. To be honest, I did not sleep good after eating there and my stomach at noon the next day is still kind of upset. If I had to guess, I think they will not be around a year from now. Maybe I am just not cool with their version of Mexican food, but I do wish them the best of luck and hope there are others that enjoy the creations they have coming out of the kitchen. What we ordered: Beef Chile Relleno & the Brisket. Both had little flavor and the Chile Relleno was doused with sauce. I think I am just going to stick with Mi Barrio when looking for Mexican cuisine in my neighborhood.

We went here on a Sunday night after being told by some friends (who really know Latin food) that is was wonderful authentic Mexican in the neighborhood. We were really excited. We walked in and were greeted by a "please seat yourself sign" so we did. We chose an open four-top table in the middle of the dining room. The very friendly busboy immediately came by and filled our water glasses. But we were never approached by anyone else in the entire 20 minutes we sat and waited. My wife and I met while working as servers--and frankly I was always a horrible server-- so we have a pretty high tolerance for imperfect service. But really, you can't greet your table in 20 minutes? And they were not weeded. They were standing around talking and acting clueless. I mean if a newbie waiter is clueless I get it. But for the server, bartender, and manager to all be standing around looking clueless while this goes on for 20 minutes are you serious? If I was the owner, this would NEVER happen in my spot. I would personally ensure that my staff was not this clueless. Why spend all that money on such a beautiful space and menu and then not bother to train the staff at all?

We love this place! Not your standard Mexican Fare. Tacos are prepared with fresh ingredients and care. Lunch specials are often unique and dazzling. I come for lunch regularly, but brought my wife and kids on Saturday, and all agreed it is our new Favorite! Move-over Rosa Mexicano!

First the good: service, atmosphere, interior decor, warm chips, nice outdoor patio. The not so great: food portions were small for the price, chile relleno con carne had a paper thin half of a pepper smothered with sauce and mediocrely flavored ground beef, 4" shallow bowl of bland queso, no burritos on the menu. Good thing we had a discount, probably won't be going back, I've had much better Mexican.

First, I'll say that I am really happy that Mezcalito's is now in our 'hood. We had a fine time there last weekend, but I felt the need to write a review about the salad I ordered. My sister ordered a "small" version of the exact same salad I ordered in the "regular/large" size, which was more than twice the price. When the food came out, our salads seemed to be exactly the same size, except mine was on a large plate and my sister's was in a bowl. I (sort of) jokingly asked if I'd also been given the small salad and the waitress assured me it was the regular size. She came back awhile later and said she'd talked to the chef and they wanted to know if I wanted more salad. I said the amount was fine. When the check came, I was charged for the 'regular' size and my sister for the small. That's where my issue lies. The size of the salad was fine and I wouldn't have complained about the price, even though it was a fairly small salad for an entree (I think it was around $11 since I added steak), if I hadn't seen the price and size of the small.I didn't want to make a fuss at the restaurant, but I am hoping someone from the place reads this and corrects the discrepancy because I would like to come back.

I've been here twice so far and ordered the pulled chicken and monterrey jack cheese enchilada both times. It's so good, I'm afraid to venture out. My only gripe I have with this place is that they charge for chips and salsa. Just seems really arrogant of them to do that. There are even michelin star restaurants that offer complimentary bread to customers. It says a lot of the type of service you're going to get..... And the first time we ordered the salsa it came with just one salsa and it was chunky--which was nice. Then the second time we went (which was only about 2 weeks after) they came out with two salsas, one green and one regular salsa and they were both incredibly soupy. Not like pureed looking, but more like the thin red sauce you would throw on your enchilada. So bizarre. We asked if the waiter mistaken for something else on the menu and that we just wanted "regular salsa". After checking in the kitchen, the waiter came back and told us that the chef likes to change things up. ugh. It's just salsa, people. Overall it's a really nice new restaurant in grant park, great food and nice patio.

Best Mexican I've had in ages -- real Mexican, not Tex Mex. The red mole chicken is outstanding. Seem to have gotten a deal on pumpkin seeds since they're on every salad. Margaritas come in a small pitcher but that' ok -- they pack a wallop. Way more tequila than you get most places. Ambience is great. Most restaurants buy into that "make it as loud as possible so you feel like you're at a party." That doesn't make me feel like I'm at a party. I feel like I'm at a frat house. At Mexcalito's, you can hear each other talk. Imagine that.

I have been to Mezcalito's twice since it opened, and I doubt I'll be going much more after those occasions. The first time I went once on cinco de mayo and had shrimp and grits which were spicy and very flavorful. I went on a separate occasion with a friend on a groupon deal and the experience was totally different. My order came out wrong, and our server was lazy at best, and rude and disrespectful at her worst. I ended up leaving her a note on the bill because I was so disgusted by her behavior. She rolled her eyes at us after getting our order wrong, forgot to bring the margarita I ordered twice, and never checked on us once our meals came. I have read other reviews that speak to the poor level of customer service so now I know it wasn't just us, but that left a very poor taste in my mouth for the restaurant. I'd rather go to Tin Lizzy's next door and get American-style tacos than deal with that again.

I've been to this place 3 times since it opened last month and have enjoyed everything I've ordered. The ambiance is great; so are the tacos. Margaritas are above average, certainly better than Mi Barrio and Matador. I haven't experienced any problems with the service either. It's a little pricier than I'd prefer and agree with other reviewers that the salsa and cheese dip are too expensive for what is offered. That said, I'd still recommend this over any other Mexican place in the area.

Went for the first time a week ago with the family and friends. The bathrooms were out of service. It was BYOB. The hostess brought our party of six to a four top and seemed confused we needed a six top. Our waitress, while nice, was horribly amateurish. She took out order then came back minutes later to say her pen wasn't working and wasn't sure what she didn't write down. She had a hard time separating the check. She was either at our table overcompensating and asking us several times if everything was OK or not there at all for several minutes, which was particularly an issue with trying to get the check. We were told twice after we paid the check that the bathroom was fixed, once when we were on our way out the door. This place gets 3 stars (instead of 1) bc 1) it was in a pretty cool space and 2) the food was really good. I recommend the grilled fish tacos with jicama slaw. If they can get their liquor license and hire a wait/host staff with some experience, then they should do well.

I really like this place. The staff is friendly, and knows the menu thoroughly. Recently, I went to Mexcalito's and got the chile Rellano (sp?) and it was the best I had ever had. Spicy, Smothered with cheese, garnished with roasted pumpkin seeds, and stuffed with zucchini and squash. It makes for a well rounded favorable meal. I can't wait to go back here and have this again.

This isn't a place I'd recommend or revisit, especially with Mi Barrio and Tin Lizzy's within walking distance. The ambiance is great, so if that's what you're looking for, it beats the others mentioned above. The margaritas are nothing worth bragging about, when you don't order a second one, it's a problem. Chips and guacamole - don't waste your money, had to add salt and hot sauce to the guac to give it flavor and the chips are bland. Chicken kabob - tasty, but can you really mess up chicken kabobs? Chilled relleno - didn't have much taste, wouldn't order again Service was good and again the place was nice, but not worth visiting...hit the others on memorial or go to Nuevo Laredo for the best Mexican in town.

Set in a Quonset hut off of Memorial, you could totally miss this place. I actually had no idea it existed until some coworkers turned me onto it. We started with some guacamole, which was just ok. I might try the queso next time I return or just skip a starter and get dessert instead. For my main dish I got cheese enchiladas. You can choose the from about four different sauces. I went ahead and tried the mole, which here is the type of mole made with chocolate. I am certainly not a mole expert, but I thought that it went really well with the cheesy enchiladas. They serve black beans on the side, although you can substitute refried beans instead. The rice was green and not the traditional rice on the side at most Mexican restaurants. For dessert the husband ordered churros for us and they were awesome. They were fried cinnamon - sugar goodness! These churros are not filled with anything - just yummy fried dough. They did have a few dipping sauces - my favorite was either raspberry or strawberry flavored. But the churros alone were super tasty and did not need the dipping sauces. They have a really nice looking patio which looks like a great place to do some day-drinking on the weekend.

I wasn't the biggest fan of Mezcalitos the first time I went. The migas just didn't hit the right spot if you know what I'm saying...I'm not sure I know what I'm saying. I have been back numerous times since and have enjoyed this americanized mexican spot more than any other near me. Things that taste good: -Gazpacho (it pisses me off that it's no longer on the menu) -Poblano Rings (fried poblano slices with two amazingly good sauces to dip...a red sauce and an avocado lime sauce) -Maduros (sweet plantains, so good) -Poblano enchiladas with chicken (I normally hate enchiladas and that nasty red sauce they are smothered in, but these are smothered in a slightly spicy green sauce and are cheesy as can be) - Pescado Mezcalitos (grilled tilapia with roasted red pepper sauce, poblano mashed potatoes, and one of the best tasting side salads around) ^^^Spot hit again and again.

Fantastic tequila and margaritas, delicious enchiladas and chilaquiles, family and singles friendly. What more could you ask for in a local Mexican restaurant? There are a lot of Mexican restaurant options in Grant Park, East Atlanta, and Cabbagetown. This one is our best. I only wish we had discovered it earlier.

If you're not careful you'll miss it off Memorial, and you will miss a treat, for sure. I frequented the Mezcalitos in Oakhurst years ago and was glad to hear this one was opening in Grant Park. It's much bigger but has the same vibe as the one in Oakhurst. I love the spanish omelet - its banging! Their devil water is a must to try if you want a spicy tequila drink. They have several salads that are great and the green rice and black beans are great. Extensive selection of silver tequilas!!

I've only been to Mezcalito's Cocina once thus far. They have an extensive selection of tequila (woo hoo!). The food was good as well. I had the chicken enchiladas and my husband ordered a quesadilla. Of course, we shared a pitcher of the Mezcalito's Margarita. The wait wasn't too long for a Friday night. And I enjoyed the ambiance as well.

First let me say, I'm not a huge fan of mexican food (unless its plain tacos) because I was dining with a large party, I thought it best to bend so I won't break. due to the heavy rain, indoor seating was crowed. Had it not been for the friendly host we would've experience a long wait. She was kind enough to quickly find comfortable seating to accomodate 7 people, aaaallllll the wayyyyyy in the backkkkk. Once we were seated all orders were placed. Our meal arrived in a timely manner, one after the other. What a sight! We all enjoyed our meals. 3 outta 7 ordered the specials, which consist of, steak, fried green beans, shrimps and grits. sorry, (I stopped listening after i heard, grits.) not a fan so I'm not sure whatelse came with the meal. I ordered the steak ,spinach & goat cheese enchiladas. My food arrived as ordered. The steak was meduim and well seasoned with the right amount of cheese. I was pleasantly surprised. Everyone seem to love what they ordered, including my mister who ordered the special and had time to linger on my plate. To drink , i received a free YELP drink for their devils water. Spectacular! Its now my new favorite drink. A spicy Tequila, infused with tasty yummy spices and goodness made for a happy evening and enjoyable night. As you can guess, I nursed it all night. Needless to say, We will be back!

Tacos are too spicey and the portions are small. Don't get an authentic taste here. Not overly impressed with service either.

Our family loved this spot. Unfortunately, we only discovered it about a week before we moved out of Grant Park. Had we found it earlier, we would have been regulars. The chilaquiles were incredible. It may even warrant a drive down from our new northern suburb to enjoy it again!

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

(5)Eli L.
I'm a visitor to the area who found this place as it was close to where I'm staying. They offer $2.00 tacos during lunch hour. I sampled the steak, fried chicken, teriyaki and pork tacos. They were ample in size and almost too much food. The environment is nice and the service was good.
(5)Maureen H.
It was great! I really enjoyed my chili relleno with goat cheese sauce and pumpkin seeds. :)
(4)Crystal C.

(4)Dean H.
(4)Jeff P.
A favorite Mexican place of ours. From the kwansit hut building to the interior decor, this place is always fun.Chicken enchiladas served with black beans and green rice are my favorites.

(4)Shawn C.
Everything here is delicious. The margaritas are perfect. Not too sweet. The all allambres con pollo can be spicy but it's also heaven on a skewer!
(5)Lauren S.

(4)Marta P.
(4)Michele C.

(4)Sean Y.
This is our go to mex place. From apps to entrees to kidd menu everything is excellent. We moved away and took a break for 5 years eating here and now we are back to the neighborhood and the food is still amazing and people are still awesome. One of those places you feel like you belong there. Thanks guys ....
(4)Andria C.
(3)Chan V.

(1)PJ P.
For Mexican food this was pretty bland. Service was great but food was not. Had a steak which was pretty tough. Cheese and tomato sauces were not tasteful. Had to dump the bowl of salsa in my plate to get some flavor. Plus why oh why do they charge for chips and salsa???
(2)Heather P.
(2)Ashleigh P.

(4)Jesse L.

3 trips, and the food is always exceptional. The tamales are epic and delightful and anything on the special list is worth a look. Beers are well thought of and damnit this place is bueno.

(4)Breall s.

(3)Noel S.
(4)Robert M.
Great little hideaway with a glamorous staff and awesome food... Friendly bar and family oriented dining with a large patio for those warm summer evenings. Not too big, not too small... Good place to take a date, get a little tipsy, then stroll over to Oakland cemetery for a make-out session...
(5)Grant M.
I have been a Grant Park resident for the past 15 years and have recently discovered the Sunday brunch at Mezcalitos. LUV IT!! The omelets are great and the mimosas even better. This is my new favorite Sunday brunch hangout!!
(5)Michele S.

(5)Thomas T.

(4)Melanie W.
(3)Dwayne B.
OMGosh, had he special tilapia with capers, mango, pineapple and grilled shrimp. I will be going back a bunch!!!!!
(5)Justine H.
(1)M D.
(2)Paige J.
(4)Domonic B.
(3)Lani B.
(4)Charles H.
(2)Melissa L.
(5)Travy T.
(4)Marie-Claude V.
I moved here from Hawaii two weeks ago. I was in the mood for Mexican food so my daughter and her roommate took me here. I lived in California so I've had good Mexican food. I really like the outside structure of the building. Inside, it looks like a hip, fun place. We decided to sit outside as it was a beautiful day. We ordered mimosas and bloody Mary's. Their tortilla chips are crispy, light and fresh. We got 3 different kinds of salsa with our chips; verde, roja and con queso. For my main entrée I had the chili rellenos. I was a big chili stuffed with vegetables and cheese. It was very tasty. I really enjoyed my time and food there. Our waitress Annie was Awesome, She was friendly, attentive and accommodating. We will definitely go back and enjoy the different specials they have daily.
(5)Ashley T.
(3)Steve T.
(3)Sabrina T.
(4)Bll J.
(2)Scott H.

Love the brisket tacos and the guac.
