This is my spot at least 3 out of 4 Thursday's in a month. Good vibes. Great food. Live band. Best kept secret. Veggie pizza with chicken was delicious.

This was an amazing intimate spot... I was there for the first time and I have nothing bad to say... The women were beautiful... The waitresses were very polite... The drinks were absolutely amazing and cost-effective...The live band was amazing... Don't know if the air conditioning was broken when I went because it was a little on the warm side... But aside from that amazing place and I cannot wait to go back...

I had the best time last night (Thursday) with open mic, live jazz, tasty drinks and great conversation. I even got a chance to meet the owner Kat who is the friendliest, most down to earth person. It's no wonder Kat's Cafe has been around for 8 years - a much applauded feat for any Atlanta restaurant business! Here's to another 8 years!

This is a great place to go to listen to live music! Be warned... If you want a seat you need to get there early! I was amazed at how good the singers were! I will definitely go back again! Very impressed!!

Let me just say that this cafe and places like it is the reason I wanted to move to Atlanta. Real and raw talent steps onto the stage at this venue. I heard covers of my favorite old school jams, like hits from Maze & Frankie Beverly to new hits from Beyoncé. I absolutely loved every minute of the live music. I would give this place 5 stars, but the waitress did not take my order... but that didn't damper things too much... I just went to the bar and ordered my drink. The food and drinks are great! This will be a regular spot for me!

I went here for the 1st time 2night and had a great time. Get there early for seats but I stood and still turnt up with the band. There's so much going on here...spoken word, live bands, food + drinks etc., the ambiance is chill with a mature crowd. This is a must stop if you live here or visiting

I'm definitely a fan of this gem. Great drinks, food and vibes. I recently went on a Poetry night, it wasn't packed at all. The service was faster and I enjoyed the intimate crowd. However, I definitely prefer going when they have live music! Be sure to arrive early to get a good sit. I also loved the Cajun shrimp pizza, the chicken ceasar salad, very good! I will be going back

They offer $5 martini's. They pick a different one each night . Make sure you get reservations. We didn't think we needed one on a Tuesday night but the place was packed by 9pm. Luckily we arrived at 8 and were able to get good seats. If you are late, best thing to do is share a table with strangers, folks did it all night. Tuesday is improv night which is more like stand-up comedy night. They have some great acts and some not so great. Most of the acts cracked us up. Thursday they do Jam sessions and Friday/Saturday is live funk. They offer a handful of things on the menu (typical bar food such as salads and quesadilla's, wraps) However the pizza is not ordinary! We tried the Bayou Pizza that contains shrimp, tilapia , onions, peppers, a red sauce. It was spicy and peppery and very amazing. My boyfriend and I shared it and ate till we were stuffed. FYI a pizza can feed 2 hungry people or 3 who want 2 slices. Overall we had a fabulous night! The waitress was very slow but she had the whole place under control so I couldn't be mad at her. Great ambiance, nice and cozy with low level lighting (it's a basement ya'll). I am told it's perfect for Jazz since it's not meant to be very loud and in large venues it gets drowned out. We came for the scoutmob and now plan to return as regulars.

Loved the music and crowd. I went on a Friday night from 9ish-11. They had a live band playing popular r&b from the 90s. The crowd was Black professionals between the ages of 30-45...which I loved! No ratchetness or ghettoness...just hardworking people coming out to have a good a time. You know the type of people with real occupations, dressed up with cuff links & coats, aka not aspiring rappers lol. (Yes, I'm very bougie). I noticed some high rollers, couple of Porsches, jags, Benz, etc parked outside. No cover, Downside: it's a very stupid layout. It has a huge fireplace that blocks everyone in the middle and back of the place's view of the band. Pretty awkwardly placed too. I think I came a little too early though, I'm willing to give their happy hour another shot. They offer valet parking. Omg but finding this place is awful...even using my google maps. Just take a left off of 8th streets to Piedmont(at this point on Piedmont, it's a one way). Then you'll see a hair salon called Helmet something on your left hand side...and pull in right there. If you pass the bike shop, you went too far

If you like having something to do during the week days that doesn't include partying and getting drunk this is the place. Tuesday night is comedy night. Wednesday is open mic night for poets and commedians. My favorite night is Thursday when they have the open mic night with live jazz music. All of the talented locals come out to perform every week and once in a while you might even see a popular recording artist like Musiq Soul child or Toni Terry. The drinks are great and although they have a limited menu the food is good, my favorite is the house salad with shrimp and house dressing . Get there early to get a seat at like 830 if you want to sit at the bar try 8pm. It's a hole in the wall but you will have a great time listening to good music around good people.

My first visit was on a Saturday night. I'm glad I called ahead to find out the ins-and-outs. I was advised to get there early because two birthday parties had reserved seating. You can reserve seating for free. I got there around 8 and he was right! The place is VERY small and have poles and a fireplace/chimney that obstructs your view of the stage.I had very few options to be able to see because the two birthday parties had taken over the place! The crowd demographic was lower middle class, hard working people, having a good time. I didn't see the cufflinks that another reviewer mentioned. The servers were friendly. I didn't have any of the food so I can't speak on that. They apparently don't have a working air conditioner, or are being budget conscious because as the night went on, and the crowd got bigger, it got hotter!!! The artist that performed was great. She did covers of 90s R&B. However due to the small venue, obstructed view, and NO AIR, this is a place I probably won't frequent. I left earlier than I desired because of the heat!!! Tip: As another reviewer stated, it's very hard to find even with gps! When I called for assistance, the person told me to look for a restaurant that I never saw. So look for the Helmet salon. It's right next door to that. There's free valet parking and the cover charge was $9.

Ok. This place is a favorite for a chill evening to people watch and get the good vibes going. I've been here twice on Wednesday. It is mostly a grown and sexy crowd of African descent. For service, it is somewhat slow but I'd blame it on the kitchen. For food, I'd recommend getting the Bayou pizza. Very yummy - it is basically moist seafood pizza. For decor, this place is mediocre. I don't know why there is a huge column in the middle of the room that obscures the stage view from the back.

Can't say enough about this place!!! Food off the chain!!! Drinks, keep them coming, atmosphere is out of thus world, entertainment to die for!!!! This is my forever hangout for the absolute GROWN & SEXY!!!

Turned out to be a great hidden gem! In town for a funeral and met up with some family members at Kats on Friday night after a friend suggested it. Great music and good drinks. We arrived at 10 pm and were able to get a table. They close at 1 am but you can still order food at 1 am. I definitely recommend this spot if you like live music. I purchased the CD for Phillippia who performed on the night we were there. Great performer!!

Kat's cafe is a nice little spot. As stated in the previous reviews, it has a nice vibe-unpretentious. Be sure to reserve a table and get there before 8 if you want a seat. It does get packed. The waitress and the bartender were very nice as well. I ordered the Bayou Pizza (as recommended by the waitress). It was very good. The band was very good as well. Not sure of their name but the lead singer/host has a beautiful voice (sounds like Teddy Pendergrass) and funny as well. Some of the folks who sang during open mic could really blow. Very entertaining. The parking is a little tight but they do offer valet service. We got there around 7pm and parked ourselves. However, when it was time to go my friend had to wait under the valet moved some cars so he could get out. The entire evening was great. I plan to go there again.

The restaurant is small, the music was VERY loud considering the small space. The DJ was good and it's an old-Atlanta vibe My co-worker and i had a great time- we just had to shout real loud over music to converse. Around 9pm a live performance began- again -- the mic was turned up- way up. Reservations here are free and encouraged. FOOD & DRINK: The best...the $5 martinis - great selection and it was not watered down by any means. I had the Georgia Peach and later the tequila Juke Joint The not-so good ... Limited food items, only large plates like sandwiches and pizzas PARKING There is street parking or free valet Overall- great afterwork and into the evening spot!

Service is a bit slow, but it is Friday night, and it's packed! Great martini's and the music is on point. If I lived in Atlanta I would become a regular here.

Awesome spot but you better get here early because this hole in the wall gets packed by 8pm. Love the live music. The pizza is cooked to order and tastes great. My fav martini is the choc-o-lat an adult milkshake.

I love Kat's Cafe!!! From the DJ, to the live music, to the food, to the bartenders and then to Kat. You can never go wrong in patronizing Kat's Cafe, just make sure you call to make reservations because the place gets packed.

Kat's Cafe is my spot. It is sexy, sophisticated, and intimate. Kat's staff is very professional. They make drinks fast, strong, and right. Located in the heart of ATL, Kat's Cafe is a great spot to drop in for happy hour and when the traffic dies down you can take off and hit up another spot or go home...well Happy! Every time anyone comes to ATL for a visit, I take them to Kat's and she welcomes them with open arms and genuine southern hospitality. It is very common to see ATL's shakers and movers patronizing the place and they're equally friendly as the "all grown folks" crowd packs the place. Drop in, stay awhile, and let the sweet music touch our soul and put a beat in your step.

A friend of my wife and I's performed here and we went out to support her. When we got there we were the only people there--I guess we're lame early birds lol. But in our defense, we were warned to get there early because of how small the place is. We had no idea JUST how small it really was though. It's tiny! The guy at the door who took our money was really nice and took time to chat with us. He gave us some background on the night's performers etc which was great. We paid and then went to grab a table, we thought we would get a nice front seat since we were the first ones there but to our surprise, ALL the tables in the small space we reserved. ALL of them. The only spot that wasn't reserved was a small couch in the back of the room divided by a wall so that you couldn't see the stage. Huh? We were floored. So we grabbed two seats at the bar and remained there for the rest of the night because at least we could see the stage from there (or we could before the place got crowded anyway) We ordered plenty of food and drinks to justify us taking up two out of the five only bar stools in the place. The food was great! My wife ordered a delicious seafood salad and I had the meatball quesadilla which was hot and so tasty. I highly recommend it. And they didn't skimp on the alcohol either which is much appreciated. I'm not one for cocktails but we tried several of their customized drinks like the Kat's Kosmo, the Baby Maker and something else I don't remember but it was also good. We found the prices to be pretty reasonable too. The entertainment was a hit and very lively! All in all, we had a great "date night" out and we would love to visit Kat's Kafe again, the only thing we recommend is that they limit the amount of tables that can be reserved--or maybe stop allowing reservations altogether since the place is so small. Why not let it be, "first come, first serve"? And I gotta suggest that they knock down that inner wall, it would open up so much space and allow more people to see what's going on. Even at the bar where we thought we had an okay view of the stage, once people started getting there our visibility was gone. I ended up stretching my iPhone high up into the air, (over the heads of the crowd) with the camera recording and that's how we got to see our friend perform lol . Obviously that was tiring after a while and the place started to get a bit claustrophobic so the minute our friend got done on the mic, we made our exit. Oh, they have valet parking too which was nice.

I go to kats cafe anytime the mood strikes or whenever a friend comes into town. It's a great place to wind down and they have valet parking. Typically no cover during the week $8-10 on the weekend. Kats is dive joint that hosts open mike nights and live music. They offer a small menu including wraps, plain salads, and pizzas. There's a wider selection of alcoholic beverages which are pretty good. As far as decor keep in mind it's reminiscent of a dive bar so no need to get too glam. The bar area do pretty small as is the whole cafe. The tables are squeezed together pretty tightly and it tends to get pretty hot. If you want to get a seat for open mike nights plan to be there by 7:30 pm for a 9 pm show time. The house band sounds good and amateurs can play alongside them on open mike night. The spoken word can get intense but usually very entertaining. Sometimes past famous singers show up there. Tony Terry was there singing the Thursday night I went, he still sounds good! Although it's not my typical spot I'll definitely be back and I'll definitely eat before I go.

PARKING: There is free street parking. You can also get to valet from 10th St. SPACE: This place is small as hell. Get there early or plan on standing the whole time. Tables are packed tightly together. If you don't like being cozy with strangers, don't come here. If you plan on dancing the night away, don't come here. There's no room for that. (OK, maybe a little, but...) RESERVATIONS: Do yourself a favor and make one. You will not have a seat otherwise. Tip: After a while, it gets hot in here. It would be wise to dress in layers that you can take off once you start to sweat. SERVICE: Our poor waitress acted as if she'd rather be ANYWHERE else than serving us that night. Bad attitude for sure. Took over 30 minutes for our entire party to receive water--they ran out of glasses. DRINK: I had the Choc-o-Lat, which is like chocolate milk with vodka. It's good, but they DO NOT skimp on the liquor! Whoa! FOOD: The menu is very limited--basically salads, wraps and pizza. If that's not your style, you might be better off eating before (or after) and just getting drinks here. I had a chicken wrap and it was surprisingly way more tasty than I was expecting. Nice size, too. MUSIC: Loud as hell. Mainly old school R&B... and of course that damn played out Wobble. The live band came on at 10 pm and they were OK, and the singer was good. We left after two or three songs so I can't judge too much either way. Tip: If you're gathering with people you haven't met before or don't know very well, I don't recommend this venue as a first time meetup. You won't be able to hear each other or hold a quality conversation. VALET: If you plan on bar hopping, you can retrieve your keys from valet, leave, then come back and get your car later.

LOVE the live band on Saturday night. Drinks can be a little watered down but the quesadillas and the chicken wrap are great. Get there early or you won't have a seat.

Fantastic place for a moment of peace and good music on a thursday night. My recommendation is to arrive early to try and grab a seat. This place isnt large but the intimate setting it provides is more than enough for any size group.

I love good music, good people and good food! Kat's cafe gives you a good dose of all three! On several nights there is a live band sometimes with an open mic. The food is awesome and the customer service is just as nice! It can get a tad crowded but keep a positive attitude, the food and drinks still come at a good pace. Check out my full food review at my website. ~enjoy~

Kat's is my new chill spot while I'm in the beautiful city of Atlanta. While spending a whirlwind weekend in the ATL my group was in desperate need of some adult fun. And not the kind of adult fun you are thinking of....we did that the other night. No, we needed to be around some people our own age, have drinks in a mature environment and listen to some great live music. DING DING DING.... Kat's came through. Parking: Due to the limited space Kat's valets your car. SCORE! Who wants to search for parking. There was an $8 cover charge which wasn't bad, most other places charge double that and don't offer nearly the same atmosphere. Venue: Inside is very intimate, perfect for bringing a date or a small group of girlfriends. There is an annoying brick post in the floor (I suppose it holding the building up, but hey...it was blocking my view). You have have a seat (if available) on one of the plush sofas, bar-stools, or a table for dining. It was a sexy dim light, not dark. Seriously some places are ridiculous....we can barely see with the lights on. Don't have me bumping into people trying to hide your flaws. Service: The service here was great, top notch. Our server found us a seat and was so very pleasant. She was informative, helpful and very attentive. You don't find service so natural in California unless you plan on mortgaging your house for one drink. The prices were great and I had some good drinks (I don't remember their names, forgive me).. Crowd: Normally "Older" crowd means OLD. Not here, everyone seemed to be within the early 30's to early 40's age range, which is perfect for me. I don't want to party with someone who has grandchildren my age. Overall, Kat's was great. I cant wait to return. PS - The "Viosocalist" was good also. Loved her Deja Vu rendition.

Went to Kat's Cafe on a Friday night. It was pretty cool. I have been looking for a place to enjoy a happy hour with great drink specials and good food. I think I have found it. The atmosphere is trendy like a cafe and small/intimate. The bartenders (especially Reggie) are very friendly and knowledgable of the menu, drinks and music. My small group of friends were very happy with the place, $5 drinks that were strong, background music, live music that started at 9p and the crowd. Overall I had a great time. I would highly suggest going here for happy hour on a Friday night then staying for the live music that follows.

Never a dull moment, while the place reminds me of a friends basement, I always have a good time. The live music brings in a mixed age group. Best luve music that doesnt cost you an arm and a leg! Please take out of towners! Oh, the food is decent as well as the drinks, add in good customer service and you get more than you bargained for. I dont mind circling the block for parking at all!

If you are here, you are here for the music and social ambiance. The food is ok and the drinks are standard, but nothing fancy or craft like. Just straight ahead approach to offset your desires and allow you to focus on the reason you and your friends are really here...the music and the social ambiance.

I cannot say enough good things about Kat's. My BF took me here on one of our early dates and this venue really sealed the deal that he's a cool guy for knowing about it and realizing that I would love it too! Drinks: a little pricey but you get a lot of bang for your buck since they're strong. I like the stormy weather martini or a classic whiskey ginger. Food: okay. not amazing but not bad. I recommend sticking to alcohol and eating beforehand. I liked the pizza. Atmosphere: totally cozy and speakeasy-like. Good for an anniversary, non-first date (because it's loud so you can't really talk), or birthday. You just have to be comfortable getting close to people because it can get crowded. Music: SO GOOD. The band is awesome and, as you'll discover on open-mic night, can play just about any song you want to hear. The MC says the same schtick every week but he's personable enough so I just mumble his lines/songs along with him. There are some regulars that perform both on open mic night and Fridays-- they are awesome. I don't know their names though. Staff: Kat is totally sweet and has been there every time I've gone which I think it quite admirable for a business owner. Her waitresses, not so much. I keep getting stuck with this girl who is the absolute worst. She acts like she hates her job but her behavior doesn't keep me from returning. Location: Easy to get to, plenty of street parking if the lot is full and near a lot of other stuff too. Overall: I can't wait to go back. It gets crowded and hot and there are some bad waitresses but the music, atmosphere and drinks are so good that I don't care. If you love good music and are in Atlanta, Kat's is a must-do. Get there around 8:30 if you want a good seat!

Met with friends for a going away party. Typical Friday night crowd in Atlanta. The drinks and food were just ok. Unfortunately, i can't tell if the poor service was due to the volume of customers or the fact that our server was extremely overwhelmed. I had to literally leave my table to find her and reiterate the need for my check and a to go box. Luckily, I enjoyed the live band featuring Eva Kennedy. But after enjoying a few of my old favorite tunes and a timely band break, I was ready to make a quick exit. Tip for men: if you're looking for diverse selection of single ladies on a Friday nite, check out Kats....it was definitely ladies night.

Nice dive venue on Piedmont. It's cozy and intimate that is somehow great for parties of two as well as large groups. I went there last night for a friend's birthday dinner and we had a table reserved for us for our group of eight. We got there around 8:30 and at the time about half the restaurant was full. Within 30 to 45 minutes, as the band started to set up, it got really packed with every table occupied and people standing. The music started after nine and the band was amazing. Words of advice if you do go on a Saturday night: Dress in layers. It will get SUPER hot as the place starts to get crowded. Also it gets very noisy and will be difficult to have a conversation. But if you are going for the music, it is fantastic and you'll have a great time! As for parking, they have valet parking. At the time we got there, there weren't any issues parking. I think after 9:00 could be a bit challenging. Lastly they charged an $8 cover. I don't know if this changes based on who is performing but worth calling ahead and finding out.

What a nice, hidden, and unpretentious place Kat's Cafe is! The vibe is always really cool and welcoming. There are several things that are admirable about the bar: -cocktail/drink menu (could use some revisions or unisex drinks) -the height and make up of the counter (comfortable) -nice size for all to eat and not be bogged down with other folks elbows in the way The venue itself: -intimate all over except the bar -the fireplace needs a flat screen monitor to broadcast the live show there or have it tuned to VH-1 Soul or a Sade DVD (hint!) -layout is nice and easy -really warm lounge sofa/sections -the food is terrific but the menu needs to have an addition to it: Ground Turkey sliders or Sweet Potato Fries Overall, the talented artists who bless the owner's spot weekly are a real gem of a concept. An in-house DJ is needed on the regular. But everything else is A-OK! Good Luck Kat's!

Pretty cool place. Nice music and atmosphere. It's definitely a grown and sexy crowd. The food was sub par and the 5$ martinis are made with Taaka vodka which is worth maybe .25 cent and will have you wretching by the end of the night. I'll definitely go back, but I'll eat before I go and be specific about what alcohol I want in my drinks. Also that fireplace in the middle makes it tough to see the band from certain spots in the place so get there earlier to get a table with a view.

This is where I spent New Year's Eve and let me tell you, it was aweseome. This is a cozy, bluesy place where I was snuggled up in a corner with my Boo sippin on martinis and listening to some excellent live music. The sounds coming from the stage made my heart sing and I could be found with my eyes closed and swaying and swooping as the vocalist seduced me with her voice. Yeah, I really was on one that night!!! I have passed this place a million times and never noticed it. It is almost across the street from OutWrite Bookstore. Valet parking was free on NYE! Can you believe it! Just tipped the valet. The place did get filled up as the count down to 2012 neared, but it was not so crowded that it was uncomfortable. We had a blast. I could not give 5 stars because the menu lacked variety and is missing some staples for a lounge like this. The main thing they offer is pizza. We ordered the cajun shrimp one and it was just okay. We also ordered a shrimp quesadilla. I never thought there was a such thing as too much cheese, but I found out differently on this night. So much on that quesadilla that it was sickening. Yuck. No chicken wings, fish options, or steak on this menu. Why? Overall, I would like to see the menu and food options stepped up a bit. Also, it took a while for the food to come out, but it was pizza, sooooo, okay. Our server was very nice and because she was, I forgave her having to be reminded of what we requested that she bring us on two occassions. Also, salt and pepper on the table should be a given. Why did I have to ask for that? Food aside, the drinks and entertainment were top notch and I love the feel of the place. It is so chill! I will be back here!

They make their drinks (martinis) really strong here, you will definitely taste the alcohol. They have a live band on Friday nights which creates a nice little concert atmosphere in a small to medium sized space. I also shared a pizza here and that was actually pretty good. Might pass by here another night just to get a little more live music in my schedule.

This place is a Hidden Jewel. I have been trying to get to Kat's Cafe for over a year now and finally had a chance to check it out on a Friday night. I walked in around 8:30 and there were just enough people in the place not crowded at all just right. The drink specials were 5 dollars until 9PM and the food looked good. I saw a lot of pizza's on the tables around me so I will have to try that next time. I had a chicken salad wrap which was pretty good. The crowd ranged in age from 30 to 65 and there was live music that kicked off around 9:30. Can't wait to go back again!

its a nice atmosphere for live jazz. It's a small quaint place nice happy hour and drinks. One concern do not recommend a huge party of more than SIX .Eight is pushing it and 10 or more is a NO!!!.The place is small ,so to bunch people together in a small area is hard to enjoy each other company. Please get there earlier before 8 the place packs up quick.

The menu is simple but I haven't been disappointed yet. The service is a little slow when it's packed but it's not too bad. Best love music on a Thursday night.

I come to Kat's when I want to hear some good music. They have a live band and some great soulful singers. They serve food and drinks and have a few televisions so you can catch the game while at this venue. Sometimes getting your order can take a little long as the crowd can become standing room only. This place attracts all types of people and that is one aspect that gives it its flavor. Plus the owner is usually always here greeting people and making sure things run smoothly. You can't beat that. You gotta come to Kat's!

I hate to have to rate this spot 1 star... but last night, I invited a friend with me to hear Phillippia and it was HORRIBLE. Perhaps they need waitresses who want to make money or management who wants to keep guests... as while i was standing and a table of about 4 7-year olds were sitting... I noticed 5 couples walk in and walk straight out. Apparently if you are not on the VIP LIST you get treated like a TAliban Teeshirt salesman... Had to wait 45 minutes to get a waitress to serve me a drink... REALLY people, then had to stand up, while kids, I mean like 6-7 year olds were seated at a reserved table, and were not even drinkin. I like Phillippia and wanted to hear her sing, thats why I came... why her 9 o'clock show start around 10:30? I cant *& WONT ever again. When I went as a guest of a friend of my sister's, we had a table, there was a friendly lil girl at the door checking people in and getting seats and we had a waitress at the table. This time... none of the above. There appeared to be NO MANAGEMENT at all. Anybody was just walking in off the street. No ids being checked... nothing. Well, the Kat is definitely out the bag,and this is a definite NO GO for me.

I finally made it to this nice "little" spot tucked away that I had heard about! This was a Friday ; I hear Thurs (open mic) is really fun! I had a gf visiting from Alabama and she loves live music, so we met up! Let me tell ya, get there before 8:30pm and the valet parking is not so bad! I got there around 9pm and it was packed, but they made room for me to park. The attendant was very friendly. Ok, so once I get inside, my gf had a table already near the front, over by the band. It was crowded , but everyone was mingling!!! Its definitely a tight spot, but everyone seemed just fine! I saw a few familiar faces, good vibe, nice looking ppl, and a pretty good chicken wrap, might I add..lol The band was good, not great, but we all had fun! I will be back!

I was first introduced to Kat's Cafe on a Thursday night for open mic during the holidays and I fell in love at first sight. Not to mention the the talent was on point! My most recent experience at Kat's was last Saturday night and again it happened to me...as the talent walked up and belted out those notes I sat in utter amazement. One guy who did not even look like he could sing high soprano R&B smashed "I cant make you love me" by Tank. Beautiful! This place is a perfect date spot. Kudos to Kat to have a successful business as a woman entrepreneur. If you want to unwind, take a break from life to swoon to great music and relax Kat's Cafe is the remedy.

Kat's is a pretty cool place who knew this existed! I'm always at Blake,s and had even got my hair done at Helmet once and not noticed this hidden gem. I went on a Friday night and this place was packed to the walls. my group of 8 managed to find a spot by the bar and proceeded to order our drinks which took about 20 minutes to get. boo. They had a great singer there accompanied by a small band and apparently on Friday evenings they have $5 martinis which I missed. I would definitely hit up this spot again but later in the evening so I could get a table, hopefully then service wont be so slow.

Great live music; I came here to support a local band and was not disappointed in other performers. Seat is limited and it can get crowded. I sat at a high table and luckily had a good view of the "stage" area. Overpriced drinks turned out to be relatively small but tasty. 4 stars for a fun night.

Went to Kat's Cafe last night to try a new Friday evening place with a friend of mine. We had a BLAST! Their Friday Happy Hour entails of $5 martinis and half off one of their most popular appetizers. The martinis were strong, which was exactly what was needed after a long week. We got there around 5:30-6pm, a DJ had music going and it was a nice little vibe. The happy hour specials end at 9pm, but after chatting with one of the promoters at the bar, we were told it usually gets packed by 7:30-8pm. It definitely did start to get full as we were heading out, and are looking forward to going back to do more of the late-night thing in the future. For an after work spot to get good drinks and good bar food, this is now on the top of my list!

The cutest little hidden gem, that I am surprised more folks aren't aware of, so I made it my business to make more folks aware by hosting my bday party there this past wknd and what a delight it was! Shouts to my girl T.K. in da housssse (fellowette' Yelper)! Thanks for coming out for the milestone celebration girlfriend, you are the best:-) If you are unfamiliar with Kats, its a quaint lil' cafe kinda sitting below the radar off Piedmont road. You could blink and miss it, but don't! I must say to be rather small inside, you get a rather LARGE variety of entertainment, food and drink:-). Dawn McClain and LaTonya Peoples were performing and they were both awesome. The drinks, and food were good and the service was good too. I realize that we had about 30 folks in my group so that was a lot, and our Aaliyah look alike waitress was on point. I had shrimp quesadilla's, two vodka cocktails, and two shots of 1800 baby was FEELIN it:-) Most of my guests had various pizza's, and one was disappointed there were no wings to order? Ok, everybody ain't serving up wangs'.... LOL. Its really not about the food here, its about the ambience, so simply small tapas to assist your cocktails:-) Shouts to Kat, as I was all about supporting black owned businesses this past wknd as well. I recommend Kats for your bday celebration. The live entertainment is super and I actually enjoy the fact, its small with no dancefloor! There are plenty other places to go for that. Kats is to groove, swag'out and bobb ya'head ....LOL

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! My other and I have a HUGE separation when it comes to our taste in music. Where I enjoy anything with a good beat regardless the genre (R&B, world, country, blues, altern, rock...) I will eventually find something I like. My Other? He's a little more narrowed. He likes Johnny Cash stuff and alternative music.... thats it! Just got home from a Friday night at Kats. HE WANTS TO GO BACK!!! So happy!! We got there early and sat on the loveseat nestled in the corner. Kimmie, our waitress, was great.... at first. I think when the place filled up we were no longer in her section and we slipped her mind. The music: It was perfect! Apparently, they played songs recognizable to both myself and my Other. He's not into R&B but he was bobbin' his head and tappin' his feet the whole time. He mentioned we should come back. We will!! Pitfalls: It was hot as Satan's arse in that joint!! About two and a half hours in when the place was practically at capacity they THEN turned the air on. Again, as it concerns service I know her section may have been moved but it sucked having to get up every 20-30 mins looking for my server to bring us more drinks. Honestly, I didnt think he would have a good time. Ha! I was wrong! Considering we can stumble home we will start having a regular attendance at the live shows. Get there early for your spot!!

I truly like the intimacy of this place. My husband and I went for our anniversary. It was comedy night. When we first got there (at 6:00p) it was early and the place was kind of empty. I truly enjoyed this part. We sat on lounges at the fireplace and the waitress and management on staff was very entertaining. I truly enjoyed the vibe, since this was my first time going to a jazz joint. We stayed for the comedy hour and it was very interesting...lol.

This place is cute and hip. Service was great. Live music was really good. It is small and intimate. We didn't have the best table but there were a bunch of us. Being at the right table would make for a better experience for sure. Menu could be better too if it were expanded some but food was good. I would definitely go back.

Went out in search of live Jazz at a real Jazz club and found it at Kat's. The small/medium size of the place is appropriate for its purpose, to bring the audience and the musicians together. The location is great with lots of restaurants around, including the recently renovated Zocalo, if you want to get a full meal before the show. Kat's has a limited menu, its mission is the music. Valet parking that can be accessed from 10th Street or Piedmont. Reservations recommended if you want a table. Be patient with the servers as they have a hard time navigating through the crowd and hearing you over the music.

I went to this quaint little spot to celebrate a family members birthday. The open mic sessions were entertaining. The service, however, needs major improvement. Our waitress delivered food to a table of 9 and didn't bother to return to see if we even needed a napkin. I literally had to get up and go to the bar to place drink refill orders. That is unacceptable and definitely diminishing Kat's revenue. Our server continued to be MIA. We had to stack our plates and pass them over to the bar to relax and enjoy the show. When the server did come to our table she asked us to pass her our empty glasses. For real? Then as one party was leaving that person was confronted about paying a check. She asked the server - what check. Not cool! We had been there for 3 hours and she hadn't bothered to bring a check, which certainly would have been taking care of and eventually was. Kat's needs some more enthusiastic servers with better attitudes! Or at least not this one. Maybe this is not her thing.

Outstanding little spot! The guests are young, sexy and mature professionals having a great time and celebrating life. Food: great pizzas! The fusion wrap is a must try! (chicken and shrimp).it's very light and tasty. Apparently the co-owner Michael just returned from Italy where he took some traditional Italian culinary lessons that he passionately execute in this cozy spot. Proof: the bruschetta and the pizza florentine. Add some chicken and you've got a champion's pizza! Cocktails: the choc-o-lat martini is a heavy hitter and you can't go wrong with Fridays' $5 TGIF martinis. Service: True pros with smiles and very well loved by their so many regular guests. You'll be one of them soon. In the meantime, they will still give you reasons to go back. Reggie (bartender) is a master at what she does and is very friendly. You can always count on her for a sneak peak of her comedy shows. Music: check out the fun calendar! Definitely be at the open mic Thursdays. The talent is shocking! The Teddy white band is terrific. He and his buddies have played for some top recording artists such as Mary J. Blige, Akon....and they will get you going with their old school jamz and world music flair! Parking: Complimentary valet by Wes, Chris and their team. They run very well the valet service for the entire neighborhood. Bonus Hints: Make a reservation! Once you are in, you will not want to leave. Prices are very moderate, considering the area and the quality if fun! Tip graciously to the staff, the band and the valet!

This was my first time.. and it was made easy.. I went alone and am always worried about my saftey and parking. Problem solved - complimentary valet! I learned that it I need to arrive a bit earlier to get a table to see the entertainment. I sat at the tail end of the bar and was well taken care of but couldn't see.. partrons could care less about anyone behind them but everyone was freindly. I came specifically for the music which for me must be auditory and a visual experience. The singer was GREAT - sorry I don't remember her name. The drinks were on point and the wait staff seemed attentive. I most enjoyed watching the main bartender make drinks and hold down the bar.. she was focused and never skipped a beat. The pizza looked yummy however, I didn't eat. I will be back and early!

This place has something special going on for sure. It's really a cozy spot and the fact that it's tucked away makes you feel like you are going to a secret rendevous. The smallness of the space lends itself to an intimate setting and crowd participation is def important/encouraged. I came here on a Thursday night for the vocalist open mic. There was a bassist, a drummer, and a guy on the keyboard who jammed for a few songs. Then, the open mic started, which was awesome. For an open mic, I was really impressed by the talent level. Some of the girls could straight up sing and there were a few good group acts, too. The audience really gets into it and there's a lot of give & take between the audience and performes which was really cool to experience. Cons: Service leaves something to be desired and my $10 martini was weak. How you make a WEAK martini I am not sure, but I didn't even get a buzz from it. These are small gripes though beacuse I didn't come here for the drinks or first-class service (both of which can be fixed). I came for the music and the atmosphere, which did not leave me disappointed.

The night I went here, we walked in on a photo shoot. Bright lights, fake azz Atlanta Models (girls that, because they took a few shots in front of the camera with their azz hanging out, and are relatively cute with a pound of make up-- call themselves models) were roaming around and taking very shots in the club. It was a bit ackward. Regardless, sat at the bar and got a pretty strong cocktail. I have heard on Fridays the martinis are $5...I guess that sounds good. But I am not really a martini drinker. Had some type of chicken wrap that was pretty close unmemorable. Shurgs. I gotta give this place another shot. I just think that I ran in there on the wrong night... Looks like it has some potential.

I went here about 2 Thursday's ago and LOVED IT! I think Thursday is an open mic night. After experiencing it I thought, how could anyone not like this place. The staff was friendly, the crowd was diverse, the music was WONDERFUL. The drinks were sweet, the pizza was good. I keep thinking about the next time I go there. Those were 2 of the best hours I've had all year. Other live music places around Atlanta have gone "Hollywood" in my opinion. I just want to go inside, sit down, listen to some music and at Kat's I got to do that. The only thing I noticed was a lot of the tables were reserved. I'm not sure why, maybe for regulars, or maybe you can make reservations, but I was there fairly early so I sat in a good spot right in front of the band. It seems to be a fun place for a birthday party as well.

Fantastic little (emphasis on little) spot! The vibe is young, sexy and mature professionals having a great time and enjoying life. The night I went I got a little extra surprise as Sunshine Anderson was there and sung her hit. "Heard it all before" lol No seriously.

Nice spot! Great drinks! The only downside is in the the stone column that blocks the view of the stage when you're in the back. Besides that this is an adult cool hangout.

Nice place with a jazz feel to it. I was surprised by this place at first. The live jazz band is the best. But sometimes they charge a cover at the door. Valet parking is a plus. The shrimp wrap is fresh and good. The drinks are just OK. But over all its a good place to hang out for happy hr.

The first time I went to Kat's Cafe, I had a wonderful time! The music was awesome...the atmosphere was very chill. Kat is a friendly person, who knows no strangers. I've been here several times and it's always a good "chill" spot to spend my time. Live music, good drinks, friendly bar tenders, and the crowd is always pleasant. I haven't tried the food yet, but they have some pizzas on the menu that sound tasty. It's always a bitch to park anywhere in midtown when you're going out, but Kat's has complimentary valet, which is great. It's really small inside, which can be good or bad depending on the night and your mood, lol.

I loved this place! I was invited to an exclusive party here and it was very nice! Good reasonable drinks, good food, nice vibe and real quaint! I'll be back soon! This is definitely a place to bring a young lady! Very Hot! ;-) I met some nice people there and had a ball!

I love Kat's Cafe. It's kinda like the laid back hidden spot in Atlanta that you want to keep in your back pocket. Really laid back vibe a nice mix of people (some young some old). You dont have to put on your very best to go, you'll see a mix of skinny jeans, skirts and not too fancy attire. If you want a good seat on Thursday or Friday be there by 9ish. The menu is limited with salads and pizza but affordable. The drinks were great and not too expensive. A must for live music or spoken word junkies ;)

This place was right on time. We attended the Spoken Word on Saturday evening. The artist were live and direct, the food was tasty, and the drinks were good and stiff... The crowd help this place become the best Spoken Word experience, they taught us how to conduct ourselves when the artist finished their performance.

Yo this spot is the business on Fridays and Saturdays. One of my favorite jazz spots to go to. Have to get there early though if you want to get a table where you could see the live band get down. Otherwise you'll just be grooving to the music with a huge fireplace blocking your vision and believe me, you want to see these performers do their thing. Eat before you go, trust me on that. The food prices are ridiculous for the portions they give you. However if your willing to spend that paper just know that the barbeque chicken wrap is the BOMB. Best damn chicken wrap I've had in my entire life. Its a fairly small establishment which is unfortunate but they find a way to make it comfortable for the most part. The drinks are.... decent at best, they get the job done. Overall if you lookin for a spot to eat good and get slizzered this aint for you. But if you want to take your lady for a few drinks, great live jazz music, in relaxing atmosphere, around grown folk who like to have a good time, welcome to Kat's Cafe ya heard me.

Went to Kat's for the first time this week. It's what I guess you'd call a "hole in the wall" spot but I mean that in a nice way. I went to hear a live latin/salsa band play and to get a little dancing in. I was able to do just that. It's small and hard to find if you don't know where to look. The drinks that night were just ok. My friend ordered a pizza but didn't really like it. I didn't try the food. I'll definitely go back to hear a band play in laid back atmosphere. Oh, and maybe not every Wednesday but when I was there they had free salsa lessons which was fun.

I luv luv, luv this place!!!!! It's small, intimate, great music with different bands each week (Eva Kennedy, Kipper Jones, ect). And baby, the drinks are ooo-weee!!! I asked the bartender for a babymaker martini, but she was like, naw, I'm going to make you something; it's called "The Business." And it was the business because it was so good but so strong (in a good way). I didn't even finished it because I didn't want to catch a case driving home. I will definitely go back to Kat's Cafe!

This may be my new week day hang out! Great food, cool music, strong drinks and nice looking men on a Thursday night! Sounds like a perfect combo to me :-) I ordered one of the pizzas and split with a friend and had a drink, my bill was only like $12. And then to top it off a guy bought me another two drinks! There was complimentary valet (which just makes me want to tip even more, lol), clean restrooms, and attentive staff. The music was great too, a mix of sexy R&B and neo soul. The only drawback was the size. It's such a great place that it gets crowded fast. I'll definitely be back!

Go Kat's! I checked this place out on a Thursday night with live band and nice!!! The place is too cute on the lower level of another place called: Hamlet. I did not even know that this place was sooo close to where I live I never paid it any ATTN. I literally pass by it when going to Piedmont Park to work out and never stopped. It's a cute DATE spot as well....cozy for two...hint..hint..wink I heard all about the great reviews of the drinks specials....which by the way, I will be returning on Friday nights for the $5 martini's.....Gota go back for the martini love! The food was gooooood as well and such a great price. I am a PIZZZZZA lover and yes, some people can mess-up pizza however Kat's Café got it right for a great price! 9'in pizza and hhhhhhhmmmmmmmm goooooooooooood. The only thing I can say about Kat's that needs improvement would be the service....the chic was taking forever in a day to work only "TWO" tables.....my table and the other table was looking at each other like: "okay, are you guys still waiting tooooooo"! LoL!!! Friday nights at Kat's here we come!

$5 Martinis on Friday Nights (Delicious)... We went on an exploration to find this place. I am very familiar with the midtown area but hadn't seen Kat's Cafe although it is right off of 10th and Piedmont. It is tucked in amongst the houses and has limited parking. Anyway, we went with a few friends to hear their friend's band play (confusing, I know). It was a cold rainy night and the coziness of the bar was perfect, the lights were dim and it just had a really good vibe. We were all snuggled comfortably into our seats listening to great music. ...So, we were among great friends and would have had a good time regardless there were a few downfalls.... The service was lacking, in a big way. It took 15 minutes to get a drink and when we ordered food only half of it showed up. The other half had been "forgotten". We re-placed the order and waited 40 minutes. When it did arrive, it was just okay, nothing to write about. I was a little disappointed but I give 3 stars for the atmosphere and 1 for the service. I will definitely give it another chance, it may have just been a bad night for our server, I hope that was the case.

Forget the few negatives... They are irrelevant in the case of Kat's Cafe. I try my best to hit as many live music venues whenever and wherever. My footprints have been left in live music venues from New York to Vegas and Chicago to Florida. Small venues have to do something different to distinguish themselves and in this case, the difference here is Kat herself. Kat is a wonderful hostess and does everything she can to accommodate her patrons. If you went and didn't have a conversation with her, then you missed the Kat's Cafe experience. The bands play everywhere in the city. The drinks are all the same and funny, cute bartenders are easy to find. Lapses in service happen every where. There's but one Kat. And that's why you go. I've been looking for my Atlanta hangout for years... I finally found it.

This is a great spot for the live music lover. I am a HUGE fan of live soul music in an intimate setting full of beautiful people that love life and Kat's provides just that! It reminded me so much of a live music spot I am a frequent of in Boston called "Boston Renaissance" at West End Johnnies. They have a full bar to quench your thirst and serve food to warm your insides. They provide valet parking but I found street parking to be easy to find as well. This is a great spot for dates, small friendly gatherings, or if you are by yourself!

A TINY NIGHTCLUB WITH A BIG HEART! I love Kat's! The first time we went was for a friend's b-day. My initial thoughts were that the food was not that great and the drinks were just OK. I remembered the spot from when it was Jake's Ice cream and couldn't imagine how a place that small could possibly be "THE" nightspot on thursday nights. By the end of that night though, I had run into 3 diffrent groups of friends; all regulars, all raving about the place. So I decided to to give it another shot. By our second visit, Kat was greeting us personally with hugs and smiles and my friends and I were joking back and forth w/ other customers and our new best friend Alex, the bartender who is a MUCH better mixologist than the previous one (ladies, it's worth the visit just to hear his accent) . By the third visit, we were regulars ourselves. Thursday nights is open mike. Anyone with talent - real or imagined - is welcome to join the band on stage. Sometimes it's great. Sometimes ..... not so much (a tip for all you American Idol wannabes: don't attempt the likes of Marvin Gaye, Whitney Houston (pre-crack) or Aretha Franklin unless you REALLY can sing). But even the bad ones keep you entertained as you laugh and joke with your neighbors (after all - misery loves company....and alcohol) Every once in a while, Kat herself will jump on the mike and blow the crowd away. The real thrill however, is when local artists pop by and join in to sing or play a few songs and then stay to hang out and enjoy (or suffer through) the music with the rest of us. Kat's is like Cheers for the music set. There's none of the attitude and pretentiousness that you get at other midtown spots. Just friendly people, there to enjoy the music.... and enjoy it you shall.

  • Talib K.

Live music, live music, live music! The owner is hangin' her hat and bettin' the farm that the draw of live music will be enough to pack the house at Kat's Cafe. The performances typically feature local jazz artists and on Saturday nights they feature the latin sounds of Salsa. The space is small but cozy. They have a full service bar and a kitchen that serves appetizers (e.g., small pizzas). I like the vibe they are trying to create and the Midtown location is a good one (despite being tucked under Helmet Salon). Honestly, I think the jury is still out on this place until they develop a more consistent clientele and vibe.

Kat's Cafe reminds me of a place you see in the movies... it's a "hidden little Atlanta gem" and I absolutely loved my experience. For those who truly enjoy the art of "raw" performances and intimate spaces then this place should be added to your list of serious MUST DOS. I only got a glass of wine and that was around $8.00. So prices are reasonable. And Kat says that she rarely charges an entry fee, 90% of the time admission is free. Support this husband and wife team!!!! They actually get the concept for small spaces that have quality atmosphere and entertainment. Love it!

"Thank God I wore flats instead of heels," I thought as my date and I navigated the cracked, crumbly sidewalk north on Piedmont Ave. We had just finished dinner to celebrate my birthday and the Riesling I sipped earlier begged for more liquid company. It was a Wednesday night and we knew it was too late to get on the guest list of a popular nightclub. So we decided to try a little spot called Kat's Cafe since it was half a mile away. We arrived to our destination at the intersection of Piedmont and 10th, just on the edge of one of Atlanta's legendary Piedmont Park. We had to look twice though, as Kat's Cafe is neatly tucked right under a swanky hair salon. As we walk down to the entrance, we're met by two guys sitting by the door. "Do you need our ID?" I ask. They reply no. As we enter the cafe and pull up to the bar, I notice a casually-dressed lady lost in song as she sits atop a stool while a man strums his acoustic guitar and taps his foot lightly. The place is empty. "Oh. They're just practicing for tomorrow night's show," said one of the guys who had come to the bar to serve us. Kat's Cafe is known for live music (Latin, jazz, soul) and apparently Thursday night is their most popular. "You guys JUST missed the happy hour crowd," He said as he wiped the bar off and handed us a drink menu. I ordered their specialty - Lady Sings the Blues - a blue martini that was well mixed with hints of pineapple. It was fitting since the lady, who I had come to learn was Kat, was singing a melancholy Latin song. I looked around the cafe and noticed that there were two larger rooms on both sides of the main room. A fireplace in the main room was filled with lighted candles and more candles lined the bar. Jazzy paintings hung on the wall. Even though we were the only two people there, I still imagined a similar cool vibe even when the place was packed. At one point the bartender Mike, who was Kat's husband, heard me telling my date about how much I loved Top Chef and I wondered if we could watch it on the giant plasma above the bar. Mike overheard me and without hesitation slid me the remote. "Turn it up," he said with a slight grin. A few moments later Kat came over to introduce herself. "Is my husband making you guys watch this?" she joked. "He loves this show." Not only did Mike decorate the place, but he's also responsible for the majority of their menu. Ask him about the Friday night happy hour and he'll tell you about the amazing all you can eat crab leg special for $8.99 plus the $5 martinis. Ask Kat about upcoming performances and she'll excitedly tell you (in her laid back way) about how she booked a popular jazz violinist and that it's "a joke" that he agreed to come out. My friend and I drank, talked and laughed. Kat and Mike were really cool and make you feel like you've known them forever. Although we came on their "slow" night and didn't get to try any food, it was the perfect way to end the night. "I'm definitely coming back," I thought to myself while walking back on the cracked, crumbly sidewalk. A stray cat started to follow us. "Yeah, definitely gotta go back."

The infamous fusion wrap is a problem for me because if I go more than a week without one I start to twitch. The fusion wrap was created one day when Kat's husband was kind enough to combine their chicken wrap with the shrimp wrap. This encounter was truly love at first bite for me. LOL If you live here in Atlanta and have not yet checked out Kat's Cafe, you need to get on it! Kat has a MySpace page ( myspace.com/katscafeatla… ) and the cafe can be found in the Piedmont Park area. There are $5 martini drink specials on Friday from 5 pm - 9 pm with $8.99 snow crabs and $3 appetizers. In addition, Thursday night at 9 pm there is a live band and Kat even sings from time to time alongside local talent. Two more reasons I love Kat's Cafe is that there is no cover and parking is FREE. I don't know about you, but I am tired of having to break my neck to make it to a particular venue by a pre-determined time in order to not pay a bootleg cover. At the same time, you are more than welcome to work out the details of having a private event. All in all Kat's Cafe is one of my favorite chill spots regardless of the day of the week. See you at Kat's.

The day Michael Jackson died..I met my friends here to mourn THE KING OF POP with other fans of THE KING OF POP. This was such a fun and pleasant as patrons stepped up to the mic and sang MJ songs. We laughed, we cried we had a great time. Thank You Kat for providing a venue for us to mourn the passing of THE KING OF POP.

This place was great! Went last night to hang out with the bestie and it was awesome. I read the Yelp reviews and was hoping it was as good as I read and it was. Great live music and an awesome DJ. Nice crowd-young professionals. Complimentary valet parking. The fusion wrap is as good as people were saying and it comes with this great sauce...umm..im gonna go back and get another. The gourmet pizzas that were coming out looked good too so I may try that next time. They have great signature martinis and the "baby maker" was fantastic...so good i had two...do not do this if you have to be functional afterward...not a good look...lol. But to make it all even better...Its on scoutmob! Downside- its kinda small so we sat at a table with two other people we didnt know until a high top became available. Service was a lil slow but homegirl was trying to cover way too many tables but youre distracted by the music and good drinks so, eh, whatever. Go check it out.

Kat's is like the place to be for those who hate clubs. I had my 30th birthday party at Kat's and it was pretty fabulous. There is a semi-private area for parties, etc. Just call to reserve and it's free. Kat (the woman who owns the place and she is absolutely gorgeous by the way) was so sweet during my party. She had the space all decorated, really great service and she lets you know that she appreciates your business. No cover charge and free parking, doesn't get any better than that. I've never been impressed with the food at Kat's but I see it as more of an after date chill spot. $5 martinis on Fridays (till 9 pm). Love the live music; you never know who will be performing from week to week, jazz, neo-soul, etc. I love this place, the vibe is chill and relaxed and ladies, there are some cuties here as well. This is one of the few places that you don't need a crew to go with you to feel comfortable, I definitely swing by Kat's for a drink sometimes just to see what's going on and to flirt with a cutie or two.

FIrst off this place is very hard to locate...When we called for a landmark on the first phone call we were told 10th and piedmont, close to Piedmont Park ??? My friend drove around for 15 minutes, still couldnt find it. So she called back again, and this time was told that they are located BEHIND Nickimoto's....BINGO we valet parked and walked over. It is a small, cozy place. I liked the atmosphere, the music WAS AWESOME..The martini was yummy, service was alittle slow, but I was not in a hurry so...what was the hurry ??? NEED A DRINK IT"S FRIDAY NIGHT....!!!! THe colorful martini's were great. I ordered a chicken quesidilla which was ok...I was hungry so anything at this point was good enough. THe diverse crowd was a relief, we met several interesting people. The owner KAT actually came over and spoke to us and asked us our opinion of her place, how we heard about it etc...very friendly place. We went on a Friday night but I heard that THURSDAY nights are THE night to go so we will definitely try a thursday. ALso we bought a CD of one of the singers that night cuz for a white guy singing the blues, it was stupendious. GIve this place a try if nothing else it is a great starting point before you head out into the larger party world of the ATL.....

I went to Kat's Cafe a few weeks ago with a meet up group and I had a ball. The drinks were great and were only $5. I also had a the basil and tomato pizza and it was great and big enough for 3. The band was good as well. It is small so get there early. I planned to go back real soon.

OK, i absolutely LOVE this spot. It's in a convenient location, has free parking, CLEAN restrooms, and very good drinks... on Fridays, all of the specialty drinks are $5 (Kat is the bartender-owner). There's also a live dj (lamarrous) who spins the best songs (and he takes requests)!!! The food is decent and moderately priced. A good time can be had for under $20... The space isn't huge, but it's not small by any means, and there's a VIP area near the stage... Great colors and furniture. It just feels good. If there were anything that could be changed or enhanced, I'd say that the food could be upgraded somewhat. While it's definitely "ok", it's not delicious... but the ambiance more than makes up for what the food may lack.

This new lounge is tucked away in midtown and is perfect for an intimate date or a spot to relax after work. It's somewhat hard to find located on Piedmont between 9Th and 10Th underneath the Helmet Salon. I began to like the fact that it is off the beaten path because I felt like I found a gem that no one else knew about. Kat's Cafe is owned by a husband and wife and named after the wife Katarina her Husband Mike is responsible for the beautiful decor. Great staff great atmosphere. The staff has a way of making you feel at home as they remember your name throughout the visit. I think that is very remarkable seeing as how at times the places gets very packed. I went on Fridays where they have a happy hour called Martini Fridays. The martinis are great I'm in love with the "lady sings the blues" and better then that they are $5 from 5pm - 9pm. The Appetizers are $3 and i was pleasantly surprised that they were a good portion size (hence the discounted price). I'm not a crab leg fan but after I tried their crab legs i fell in love. The crowd is very professional and laid back. This is my new Friday spot after work!

Kat's Cafe is relatively small, but it is a really nice hidden spot. There was no cover There wasnt really parking but you can find parking somewhere close by or valet at zocalos. The martinis were wonderful and inexpensive. The owner was soo nice and came to talk to us. She wanted to make sure that we were satisfied with our drinks. They also sell food.

Charismatic Kat's Cafe I began my Friday as usual, things to do, people to see.... I was mostly excited about visiting Kat's Caf, since my schedule seems to never allow it. So I grabbed a friend and we headed over to Kat's Caf, we were attending a friend's birthday celebration and they were offering Afri-Salsa lessons, Yippee!!! You must try Afri-Salsa, it's so much fun, I'll tell you more about that later, back to Kat's Caf...What a warm, sophisticated and inviting spot, I met Kat a few years ago and she's truly an inspiration to me. The caf is very intimate, 2 cozy fireplaces, separate rooms, a great place for a first date! Start your weekend on Thursday, calling all vocalist, musicians, a jam session at Kat's, show's at 9pm. The Caf offers Martinis on Fridays for $5, delicious $3 appetizers, $8.99 Snow Crab Legs, and DJ Larmarrous spinnin' eclectic beats, get there between 5pm-9pm for the drink and food specials. Can you believe it, there's NO COVER! Just so you know, Kat's Caf is between 9th & 10th street, tucked away underneath the Helmet Salon, it's in the same spot formerly occupied by Jake's ice cream. Now get dressed, find a date, meet and greet, singles welcome too...and head on over to Kat's Caf, you'll be glad you did!
