This is THE place to go if you are a moderately attractive woman who needs a good roofie in her drink. Seriously, if you come here, guard your drink like an armored soldier otherwise you'll be carried out by the staff to be left on the side walk just for Grady to come by and pick you up. I saw 4 girls be carried out in an hour span--all before 1 am. The bar is fast paced and the drinks are weak. The customers are a mix of mostly college age frat boys, who will likely drop out before obtaining the equivalent of an Associates degree, looking for a lay. I would only recommend this place to someone who totally wants to be taken advantage of and enjoys having no control over the situation.

The name says it all...come as you are ...great casual hang out with great frozen drinks bar. Two levels of music and dancing. Great rooftop deck to enjoy breezy nights. Dj s on both levels play a nice variety of music enhanced by music videos screens throughout. You will definitely have a great time here

There was a $10 cover, casual attire, wasn't too crowded. They have a number of frozen slurpee drinks from the machines and they'll have a special or two for them. Other than that it's nothing special. A decent place to hang out for an everyday type of place but wouldn't come here for a special night out.

The doorman told us they closed in about 30min, but they were still charging full cover. Their music sounded great, but as girls who are used to not paying cover in the first place, we decided to go elsewhere. I'm really glad we did. There was another place down the street that had better music & no cover. Plus, we were in a bar/club hopping mood anyway. I might go back since I've heard quite a bit about this place, but if so, I'll probably make it a point to go early and stay there.

Came here for a friends birthday earlier this month. Don't remember much because it was a crazy night. From what I can remember, there were two floors ( upstairs and downstairs), drinks were pouring (they must've been good because I was feeling good), and there were lots of college kids. $10-$20 for entrance (males) don't remember about females. Overall I had a good time here with good friends. I would return here again when I'm more sober to check it out again. Give it a try.

I remember this bar attempted opening in Clemson, SC but it was a bad location and didn't make it. Skip forward a few years and now I live in Atlanta! My girlfriends and I went here for our ladies night on a Saturday. There were at least 4 bachelorette parties in attendance so the guy-girl ratio was pretty fair. We got there at 9:30pm and didn't have to pay the $5 cover. This place isn't huge, but that gives it a good vibe of feeling packed/busy. The dress code is pretty casual. Summer dresses and frat clothes mostly. I had the "Georgia Peach" drink which was absolutely delicious and the "Piña Colada" which was not as great. I tasted my friend's "Bombshell" (the greenish one) and it was very tart; probably would not have been able to drink a whole one. All the frozen drinks are $8. We spent most of our night upstairs where the DJ was. The DJ on this particular night wasn't the greatest but we made do. The VIP section is a little creepy in that it's on a slightly raised platform by the DJ and honestly it was all dudes when we first started dancing... And they were looking reaaaal thirsty. People also tend to throw a handful of napkins in the air anytime a good beat comes on. This just ended making the dance floor look like it was covered in toilet paper and it was sticking to everyone's shoes. It felt a little like a high school dance with girls dancing in circles and guys lurking by the fruit punch. The drinks are actually pretty good, so I would suggest you go, at least once, for the experience. Just don't expect this place to be the Opera or anything.

Great experience until the hostess forgot to give me My ID back at the end of the night and when I tried to retrieve it the following evening the Bouncer tried to extort money out of me to get it back and implied that I didn't pay the cover when in fact I paid a cover for five people and spent God knows how much money in the bar upstairs. I refused to pay him and he laughed telling me to enjoy my trip the the DMV. Will be contacting the authorities.

Came here with my whole class (about 20 of us) and we had a blast. The bartenders are great. The atmosphere just screams GOOD TIMES. The drinks could be a little stronger but we were having such a good time that we didn't mind. Good music and we had a blast dancing.

I think all Atlantans have a a history with Flip Flops. Mine involves many a throw downs with their infamous "Jet Fuel." I can report that my victory with the delightful New Orleans-esque drink was victorious for the evening. Flip Flops is famous in midtown for being the place you go if you are young, fresh out of college, and looking for that experience. And I must say, it is as consistent as McDonald's and definitely a fun time. Definitely a must visit for out of towners in for an SEC game, or locals looking to relive some memories and have one of those evenings. The Dance floor is always grooving.

I tried a variety of their drinks. My favorite was the "One night stand" which was passion fruit flavor. It's a very distinct taste so definitely sample it before you get a full drink. The bartenders were very good at allowing me and my friends to sample the drinks.

Swung by here while exploring Midtown on a Saturday night. Fake Patron, cool environment, ridiculous cover that's constantly changing. 1. The "bartenders" filled Patron with Jose Cuervo at BEST. Even after exploring other bars Patron that goes down smoothly most times taste like nail polish remover. This is the place you go to get wasted on the cheap stuff and slushies. 2. The environment is a lot more laid back then some of the other spots in Midtown. They make pizza inside that's decent and there's a dance floor upstairs that might peak your interest. Bathrooms were a war zone as one might expect. Almost forgot, they sell mixed drink slushies. They were good and definitely makes for a unique flair in the area. 3. The cover is completely dependent on who you're with it appears. Some girls get in free while others don't. Some guys it's $5 while others it's $10 or even $15. I'm not going to speculate on how they determine that, but it's a peculiar system they have. Overall, this is a cool spot to hang out and enjoy dancing and the wonderful weather. The slushies make for a fun twist to the usual bar scene. However, faking the Patron really irked me and tells you a lot about the establishment.

Dirty, nasty, FUN college like bar. You get what you pay for here. Fun but nothing classy.

Get there around 10:30-11:00 on a Saturday. Downstairs and up stairs with 2 different Dj's. Slushie drinks are good. Music is great pop,hip/hop, rap, reggae, & 90's! Nice place. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because they advertise pizza but when u get there they say that they don't have food anymore.

Came here 5/30/14(Fri). $5 Cover around 12am or so. Mixed crowd. Music wasnt all that. Nothing special. Had a $8 cup of Jet Fuel.

Not happy web site said they were open till 3am an my group traveled 30 min to get there expecting to end my best friends bday weekend in a great environment an based on web site pics we thought flip flops was our spot an when we got there they were closed inspite of the site advertising they were open being from out of town not a good impression of flip flops.

This is a spot I like in Midtown. Not a club, well the upstairs can sometimes feel like a club, but the downstairs stays a chill bar scene. Love the frozen Jetfuel, it'll mess you up. Female bartenders are great to look at as well, but don't be a douche and hit on them, they are nice girls whom work hard. They even have pizza you can get when you get the munchies.

  • Ee Vonn Y.

The set-up includes a patio area. $8 for some tangy slush in a well cup may not seem worth it but the flavors are fun and irresistible. Get the Bontastic or the Bombsicle. I guess I might have gotten lucky with my experiences here because every time I've been here, the bartenders and other customers were pleasant, friendly, and loved to talk and mingle more than I've seen in other bars.

    (4)
  • Gill B.

One sentence uttered during my visit last night sums up the Flip Flops experience: "I just dropped my phone in my Bombsicle." When you come to Flip Flops, you can usually expect silliness, sloppiness, and a dangerous slew of sugarry alcoholic concoctions. The $10 cover charge is certainly a pain and strongly discourages me from being a regular customer, but it's worth the price of admission every once in a while for some casual fun in a party atmosphere. The crowd usually consists of twentysomethings and recent college grads, and the vibe is fratty/college party-ish. In fact, when I come here I feel like I have flashbacks to college frat parties with the added bonus of frozen drinks. The bartenders are very friendly and enthusiastic, and they are big proponents of shots. I almost died a Fireball death on my very first visit to the establishment, but I have since learned my lesson and don't go near the stuff. The downstairs bar gets pretty crowded as eager customers order up selections from the many strong and sneaky frozen concoctions including Pina Colada, Hurricane, Strawberry Daiquiri, Jet Fuel (the real killer), and Bombsicle. They swirl in their machines behind the bar, enticing you with their silly names and bright colors. My morning after headache doesn't appreciate the frozen sugar fiesta. But in the moment, it's pretty spectacular. There is a little corner "stage" area by the bar where a live band sometimes plays. There is also a pizza oven tucked back behind the stairwell, but I don't know of anyone who has tried the pizza before. We are usually too distracted by the magical beverage offerings to realize that pizza is even an option. The upstairs bar only has the Jet Fuel on tap for frozen options, but the more spacious dance floor area is the real draw. The DJ music is a lot of top 40 remixes, so it makes for good dancing which we did plenty of. The best spot in the house is the outdoor porch that overlooks Crescent. From up here, you can take in the view of the Opera nightclub entry line which has been nothing short of entertaining the past few times I've gone. Characters in costume walk up and down the entry line, encouraging/frightening/weirding out the dolled up patrons. I'm particularly fond of the guy in the Gumby suit. Bottom line - It's a fun and laid back spot that I can tolerate visiting once or twice every few months when I want to dance and doom myself into a sweet hangover.

Worst place in ATLANTA!!!! They threw my husband and I out like we were criminals! My husband is disabled, He has MS (Multiple Sclerosis) he sometimes needs to sit to regain strength in is legs to prevent falling. The girl outside the front door checking ID's next to the patio decided she didn't want him sitting next to her and said he needed to move. I explained he had MS he needed to sit for a min, we were waiting on some friends to come out and we were leaving. She says "I don't care what he has you need to MOVE"!!! I repeated myself to her, then she calls an officer over Mr. Patterson He just starts shoving me from behind,Telling me "you need to leave". I said sir, we aren't trying to cause any problems and said the same as I did to the, NOT so nice girl. needless to say the shoved my husband out as well. We then called 911 to file a complaint, mind you my husband was NOT intoxicated. The officer and girl claim it was a miscommunication, that they thought we were "JUST DRUNK"

Good atmosphere but really bad music. Ladys come in for free but men have to pay 10$. The music was really bad. Nothing special. The staff is friendly. The only problem is that the music was really bad.

hey! i know this place! stopped here randomly with my roommate and some random man who was adamant on getting both of our numbers. We were on our way to Opera nightclub, which is literally across the street, and the man was literally begging us to give him some time of day. So we were like whatever and he swung us over to Flip Flops. I cant remember his name but i sure remember my slushy was bomb tho!! He ordered my girl and I each two slushy drinks, and after that it was lights out. It took us forever to go to Opera. lol He really wanted to keep us around so he ended up paying for our cover charge in the club. If you're reading this, sorry for ditching you that night random guy, but you've definitely introduced me to a new chill pre-game spot! So thanks!! :)

I love Flip Flops on Friday nights and visit at least once a month! Around 11ish the upstairs of the establishment opens and DJ Cam comes to get the party jumping! The music varies from pop, hip hop, r & b, and country. No cover before 11:00 and the drinks are $8 just wish they would bring pink lemonade back!

Five bucks just to get in the door should have been a sign. No, this is not a club or anyplace actually worth paying to get into. It's a kind-of run down faux-Tiki bar that specializes in alcoholic slushies, a la Wet Willie's. The bartender told our party to order the "jet fuel" if you "want to get really drunk," so we tried that. I'm sure there was alcohol in it, but it was hard to absorb through the brain freeze. Switched to beer and shots which was more manageable and the bottles were reasonably priced. Weird crowd here, maybe that's just Atlanta. About half college bros and brolettes and half people from God-only-knows where making a mess out of the place. The music choice was also vintage early-2000s. I can't remember the last time I heard someone play Petey Pablo, let alone have the entire bar get really excited for it. Okay, maybe I can remember the last time, but I don't want to. At least on this particular night, your crowd skewed closer to 30. People smoke indoors and are generally a mess. Groups kinds of self-segregated into different corners, but the overall crowd is the ultimate mixed bag. While walking five feet I bumped into a girl that was a dead ringer for Precious, a Marine and a sailor in uniform, a creepy old dude in a tweed jacket, a crew of Asian hipsters with thick eyeglass frames, and a bunch of drunk college bros.

"Regardless of the staggering dimensions of the world about us, the density of our ignorance, the risks of catastrophes to come, and our individual weakness within the immense collectivity, the fact remains that we are absolutely free today if we choose to will our existence in its finiteness, a finiteness which is open on the infinite. And in fact, any man who has known real loves, real revolts, real desires, and real will knows quite well that he has no need of any outside guarantee to be sure of his goals; their certitude comes from his own drive." Simone de Beauvoir, The Ethics of Ambiguity I felt stupid about reviewing an alcohol slurpee shop so i thought I would beef up the review a little. Tried a few slurpees, pretty good. Friendly bartenders.

I actually really liked this place but a few bad seeds made it a shaky first experience. I'm not a club or bar girl, I prefer staying in and reading a book but I felt like going out and dancing so my friend brought me to Flip Flops to break me in. The atmosphere is beachy and lively, we entered only after fussing over $15 parking. There is a $5 cover for women , which sucked major balls, we don't want to pay anything ,essentially, BUT, we paid our cover and entered. The first level includes a bar with alcoholic slushies and other drinks, there is music paying. I really enjoyed the music, it was SO good, SO dance-worthy and a lot of fun. However, not very long after we entered and took our place somewhere upstairs on a random stage, I encountered several people that had really terrible energy for the following reasons. This one guy, a total creep, had been lurking through the entire bar the whole night, grabbing random women while they squirmed away. He eventually made it up to our section and grabbed my friend by her pelvis. She yelled no. He dismissed her and looked over at me asking my number, I replied that my friend said no so go away, pretty annoyed. He scowled at me and said, "I was talking to your friend, not you." before sulking off as we fumed at him. Flip Flop, you have misogynists in your midst. I do not care for men who lay their hands on women where they are not wanted. Part of the reason I don't club a lot. The restrooms, man. For once I'd like to pee in a bar with consistently clean restrooms. By the time I got there, someone had vomited in the sink where people wash their hands. The toilets were clogged with toilet paper. Gross. Gross. Gross. The drink specials are very reasonable. Bartenders make their drinks strong as hell. I had to go back to bar a few times because my drink was way too strong. I got a Strawberry Daiquiri, which was fine, and a Vodka Cranberry and Tom Collins that I couldn't really bear after a couple sips. I'll assume this is a problem people tend to appreciate at Flip Flop. I'm not interested in getting hammered drunk so I guess I like my drinks a little weak. Ease me into it, for goodness sakes. They are making pizza up in there so you can grab a slice when you feel ready to munch on something. Bouncers are nice and friendly, bartenders as well, I enjoyed the music immensely. When I go out, I just want to dance and have fun, and hopefully be around people who feel the same. Flip Flop has the foundation for that kind of experience, the rest you have to make for yourself.

$10 cover which ain't sh** in ATL, and you can dress as casual as the day you were born. Mix of 80s rock downstairs & top40 upstairs. They serve specialty frosted drinks so have fun w/that ladies. Large outdoor patio for smoking and getting away from the noise. It's near several other clubs so it's a good spot for pub-crawling, but dress code at other places isn't quite as hipster/IDGAF style so be prepared for that... If you're looking for a quick, clean, diverse, hipster spot in the city this is it... Parking is in city garages 1-2 blocks away. You will walk. Thou art forewarned.

Directly across Opera nightclub, Flip Flops is a raucous two-floor operation serving alcohol and GT students. Bottom floor is mainly mingling, patio to chill/wait for friends/smoking, and top floor is for dancing. If you are not in college I do not recommend coming here. Everyone looked like a student, and that's because it's 18+ to enter. Music is only ok, but the DJ is not that great, playing oldie and contemporary favorites with awkward beats and even worse....awkward transition and pauses between songs. Sometimes whole songs were just cut off for a new one. $10 cover charge for 18-20, 21+ for free. Slushies are about $8, shots are $3, air conditioning doesn't seem to work, and you will die if you are in any way claustrophobic or allergic to tweeny college boppers, most of them from a variety of frats.

I've never been to a bar that charged a cover (venues and night clubs, sure) so that was a little weird. It was $5 to get in on a Wed night. The place wasn't crowded to start and we were able to sit at the bar. We started off with a Jet Fuel which was ... interesting. In a good way. Kids started to roll in and it got crowded fast ... the bar got very cramped. The bartenders were great and friendly - especially the dude that looks like Dexter. My workmates and I (who were in town for a conference) did feel a bit out of place - we're in the 28-33 range and it definitely seemed to attract the 18-22 crowd. The music was good (DJ Spy?) and the place had a good atmosphere.

The frozen drinks are good, but the music and scene can leave something to be desired. Basically a club-ish dive with bad music upstairs and a bar scene downstairs. I spent two hours here last Saturday and the music was awful -- seriously, amongst the worst I've heard in a bar setting in a long time -- and its bad enough to kill the vibe at times. Within the first 15 mins, the DJ went Lenny Kravitz into Def Leppard into Miley. Ouch. Then he closed out the night with what felt like a 15-minute N-Sync medley. Holy hell. In between, just one classic hip-hop track and a handful of current hits. While the dive vibe does provide a nice reprieve from the rest of Crescent Ave., it also means you're dealing with lots of GT frat types in khaki shots and hats, plus pop lovers and spillovers from other Crescent Ave bars. In sum, frozen drinks are tasty and a great spot to hang if you grew up listening to pop music (looking at you soccer moms), but there are too many other places to chill downtown to make this a regular stop.

Not much to say...cool and relaxed atmosphere but the drinks suck! The slushies are lacking in flavor and kick. Not worth stopping in.

I really enjoyed this place, mainly due to the balance between rock and hip-hop. I liked hanging out with my guy friends, sipping on a slushie and singing along to the 80s and 90s music played by a live band on the bottom floor. And when my friend and I felt like dancing, we just headed upstairs and partied to hip-hop and pop music. It's a nice mix of the two, and compared to Opera (which I hate), this is very reasonably priced! Definitely one of my favorite party spots in the ATL now!

Came in to Flip Flops because we arrived early for dinner next door at South City Kitchen and the rest of our party was adhering to Korean time by being 20 minutes late. Don't really know much about the interior of the place, although I did find it a bit disconcerting yet oddly satisfying when I employed the urinals which were made from recycled beer kegs. Serendipitous moment: before going into the bar, we parked our car in the lot, and started walking down and were then almost summarily run over by this extremely attractive woman hurrying to park her car. Waving apologetically, she parked, ran down the stairs and out of my life... Goddamn, she was cute... So imagine my surprise when we sauntered into Flip Flops and saw the same woman tending bar. :o Suffice to say, we ribbed Natalia mercilessly about her tardiness as well as her reckless disregard for pedestrian safety and were rewarded with muffled laughter and a host of free drinks. What a dish... Very stylish headwear selection also. The other bartenders were also very friendly, and even though we got there before the night rush, the place was looking ready to fill up. Will definitely be back next time I'm in town, although I'll be sure to watch my step in the parking garage.

Alcoholic slush, great music, great crown on Friday nights. Must try the jet fuel. Upstairs is where the party is at. The DJ always plays a good variety of music and keeps the party live all night long.

Had a blast!!!! Very laid back... Music was ok but two jet fuels later I was on the dance floor with an awesome mixed crowd. Second floor is definitely where the party is... 5 bucks after 10 on friday which was well spent...Just had a good time and oh the pizza was good too :)

Awesome diverse atmosphere!! The people are super friendly and super fun!! The downstairs plays different music from upstairs which creates 2 bars in one!! Try the Jetfuel and the Bombsicle mixed and make sure you have SPARKS make it!! He's very personable and cool! He also is no amateur!! Lol. Came here for my roommates bday and didn't regret it once!!!

OK, did not really enjoy the place. Got there around 6pm, only a couple of the frozen drinks were ready. So I ordered some pizza slices to eat while I wait. The pizza was good. They charge you $4 for a thick cut and $3 for a thin crust. The toppings are free. The drinks were not wet willies...the flavor selection was sub-par because they had the same type with different strength of alcohol. NO Pina Colada, how do you have a frozen drink without the top selling flavor? After waiting for about 1 hour(Watching the staff sit around and eat and all), i decided to leave. next time we told ourselves, if we want something like wet willies...just go to wet willies!

I was with guy friends from Paris, who apparently had set out to spend their second to last night at Flip Flops. Why? I don't know, I've never heard of it. I should've read these reviews and stood my ground on NOT feeling like it - not really a bar girl. Anyway, there was a line, some guy kindly ushered me ahead only for the girl to ask for cover. First time I've had to do this in years, tsk. So my hopes are high; this place must be the shit. People are sitting outside, walking out from upstairs on some side staircase, looks pretty mobile in there...alriiight. Now I'm in...nada on the first floor. Frozen drink, yum. Okay, it's lax down here, good for talking, mingling, sipping and being cute. Two of the guys announce that they're going up, I want to linger a bit though because all of a sudden there are a few men behind me waiting to pounce. And I desperately need to get into this outing, so I bid 'em adieu. These dudes at FF are handsome buuuut young-minded, immature, possibly drunk...so I'm trying to be somewhere where I can dance, watch & people don't insist on talking: Upstairs I go. Same thing. The music is horrible, and I love all kinds of music. They did play snippets of a few good pop, rap, r&b and EDM songs - right as you start feelin' it and want to get that body moving, bam, song switch. It's a fun time for a first time, and if you're around and want to drop in. So glad I didn't consider this a "night out" and so put NO effort into it.

I'm 24. Am I too old for this place already? The slushies are mediocre and overpriced. I'm not sure there is any alcohol in them. People were smoking in there. Huge minus! It's filthy. The ground is sticky. They promote throwing napkins on the floor so you have wet sticky napkins stuck to your shoe. Upstairs is like a college freshmen party. The DJ was cool and catered to the crowd. He reminds me of Tiger Woods. That was my second time at Flip Flops. I probably won't be back.

The name Flip Flops is exactly what is sounds like and what to expect when entering this bar... Shorts & Flip Flops. Don't expect to come fancy in nice heels and a fly shirt, that will all get ruined. This is the bar you go to after you already went to dinner or previous drinks at an earlier bar. You don't want Flip Flops to start your night, it's that "Get sloppy wasted" type of bar. Techno, Trip Hop, Dub step, Etc. Yea It gets pretty crazy. If you "Go sober", for lack of a better word, You will not enjoy yourself. The drinks are reasonably priced but the scene is intense. That means you will need to be on the same level as everyone else. Otherwise the venue is nice, spacious, with indoor and outdoor chilling areas. You will get a diverse crowd just everyone isn't going to be holding political conversations, more so "Yea dudes" and "So do you like beer?" type of conversations. This place can be very fun and exciting if you have the right group of friends for a cheap fun adventure that you may want to experience again.

Across from Opera on the busy section of Crescent Ave, Flip Flops is a casual bar/club that offers alcoholic slushy drinks and 2 floors of entertainment. The interior decor reminds me of a tacky reinvention of a beach party house. There's a patio for those who want to enjoy the weather and smoke. The people downstairs are mainly standing around and mingling. There was a live band playing on the Friday night I was there. Upstairs there's a dance floor and a DJ who plays top 40's music. By around 12-1 the upstairs gets packed with people dancing elbow to elbow. Guy to girl ratio was about 1:1 the night I was there. Cheap drinks. Slushies are about $8 and mixed drinks are around $5. Stupid $10 parking garage.

I'm not sure how to say this any other way. If you are drunk, you love this place. You want to play ping pong, you want to get crazy on the crowded little tiki dance floor, the drinks are flowing and life is good. If you are sober, the everybody around you gets quickly annoying. Suddenly the tiki theme isn't anything more than cheesy and you are ready to leave. I've been here under both circumstances and overall my opinion is that i've still had more fun nights here than bad. I simply wouldn't recommend this being the only stop on the list for the night. Watch out for the badddd sugar hangover if you have too many drinks! These taste better going down than coming back up... I speak from experience.

Ugh. It's like spring break gone wrong in here. I came here on a warm Saturday night with a gaggle of girlfriends. We dressed for the name of this place -- in jeans, sandals and casual tops. After about 15 minutes of being on the first floor and getting elbows rammed into my sides by the barely-21-year-olds jostling for drinks at the overcrowded bar, I'd had enough. Upstairs is a dance floor, and just like most spring break parties, I spent the majority of my time getting pushed and bumped into my overzealous and drunk partygoers and avoiding being groped by the creepers lurking all over the place. If I had one rule to impose on this place, it'd be "keep your hands to yourself." There's a very small deck out front that offers a brief bit of fresh air, but that's only if you can avoid the people huffing and puffing cigarettes. The ONLY reason I'll give this place two stars instead of one is because of their frozen drinks. The redbull/vodka is pretty potent, and the others looked mighty tasty too. Although, they're a little overpriced. But it's in Midtown, by all the nightclubs, so it's to be expected.

Reminds me of wet willies in south beach, it was ok. It's a great place to start at to mingle and talk with friends before hitting the clubs. I had the hurricane and it was good.

Disclaimer...I have awesome friends so we will have a blast anywhere. I can only give this place 3 stars simply, because it's not that great. It's alright because its unique, tropical theme in the middle of city. They have different flavors of alcoholic slushies which is great. On the bottom floor, they have live music sometimes. Upstairs is extremerely cramped as well as the balcony. Now, my friends choose to go here to pre-game or celebrate a friend's birthday, but other than that I would never go. I'm getting too old (24) for these type of college places, but if you want to possibly have a drink spilled on you and wear flip flops to a weak sound system, be my guest.

Yummy drinks and yummy men! Came here from out of town with a bachelorette party and had a blast. They have a lot of frozen drinks that are really really good! Similar to the frozen drink selection that they have at Fat Tuesdays. There is always something that has 151, margaritas, pina coladas, etc. I had the bombsicle and it was the bomb(sicle) haha SOOO GOOD!!! The bartenders/bouncers/dj here are actually really nice! Downstairs, I got my drinks really quickly and upstairs, the bartender was very helpful with our shots and very friendly with our party! He took pics of himself, of us, with us, etc. The dj was very patient about our friend coming back to wish her a happy "end of her single life", and the guys there were hot! The guys, although hot, did not seem stuck up. We had lots of guys approach us, buy us drinks, dance with us, etc. The DJ played great music, some of my favorite songs (new and old). He also kind of rapped along with them which was weird, but whatever! Now, I don't watch real world, but some of the girls I was with did and they were going crazy because apparently one of the bartenders was on it....his name was like "the cohutta" or something like that. He too was really nice. Apparently he is well known, but he didn't act like it. They were taking pictures from afar so I asked him if he would take photos with our bride. He gladly did it, kissed her, hugged her, took several photos with her, etc. This place has a great atmosphere, an upstairs and downstairs, great drinks, great staff, and great people. Only cost us 5 dollars each. The star I took off was for the heat, it was hot! Not just regular bar hot, but like really hot in there!

"I love your polo shirt." "No, I really love YOUR polo shirt." "Your khaki shorts are sick, bro!" "Where'd you get that visor it's friggin' awesome?" So on and so forth until the frozen boozed-up concoctions turn this kind of mindless banter to fist-pumping battles on the dance floor upstairs. While the frozen drinks seem to be pretty well liquored-up, the captain and coke I had was weak like Screech. The only saving grace is the outside areas. Inside you'll spend your time avoiding sorority girl barf and muscle-head elbows.

Bartender was nice, not too crowded. Felt like I was at a frat party though, not really my scene. However the drinks were good - ill go for anything blended. I got the pina colada - very coconut-y. standard pizza & blended drink beach college scene.

Ugh. Went here Saturday evening and it was just awful. Pisspoor service. They didn't have any food, even in the early evening. And it eventually turned into a frat party. No locks on the bathroom doors and drunk girls puking into trash cans?? No thank you. The only bonus to the night was watching the train wreck that was whichever local Atlanta high school having their prom across the street. Seriously, some people just don't look in the mirror before they walk out of the house!

Many nights I end up on Crescent and have never set a foot into Flip Flops - until this past weekend. As my friends were already inside upon my arrival to the area, I was forced to go in to this Midtown version of Margaritaville. I've been wondering what it was like all this time.... ...and my fantasy was sorely incorrect. Min is spot on- my immediate thought was SPRING BREAK!!! WOO! There were napkins ALL OVER the floor, people shoving me, and some drunk girl on the stage with the live band singing Purple Rain to some poor person on her cell phone. My friends- classier than this to say the least - stood grouped together in a little corner, scared and timid. After I got myself the Hurricane slushy (pretty good!) we went upstairs to the booming dance party. I was aiming for the door to the patio, but during the 6 or so paces at least 3 guys thought I was dancing and they would join me. Bleh! Once we were out on the patio, we had a much better time. We could actually hear each other and there is a separate bar out there. We had a great time watching the ridiculous line of people waiting to get in to Opera (are you drinking yet? 'Cuz we are!!!). But we didn't stay much longer; we just weren't feeling the crowd. I went to grab my tab from the downstairs bar and everybody- I mean EVERYBODY- was singing along to some country song I've never head and the bartenders helped two girls to get up and dance on the bar. I could not get out of there soon enough. I had come to the conclusion that this is where all the "cool" Tech kids go when they want to party "in the city" instead of near their campus. I'm sure fake IDs were affluent. If the average age of the crowd was even slightly higher, I bet this place would be cool! Flip Flops WOULD have gotten two stars from me, but I think the place would actually be quite nice when it's not so crazy- possibly a weeknight? I'll give it another shot at some point...

I actually went here for lunch during the week. I have to say, the food...not too bad! I know it is a "beach club" theme, but plastic cups? Blah! They offered 2 menus...one was their regular menu, and the other was a broken down version if you wanted to build your own. I really liked this concept, even though I saw what I wanted on the regualr menu. I ordered an eggplant parm pizza. It had fried eggplant pieces (which were probably pre-breaded, but whatever), mushrooms, onions, cheese, and sauce. It was $8. For a $1 more, it could have been a calzone. It was pretty tasty. I was able to eat the whole thing, so it might not be a large enough portion to most people. I had a scoutmob for it, which was nice b/c it offered 50% off the bill. I would go again.

Went there today for lunch. I was tricked into going here since I was blinded by the "$1 for $10" deal in Groupon's Daily Deal. They name this joint Flip Flops Pizza Kitchen during the day, and didnt think it is the same Flip Flops bar at night. The service: The girl that was waiting on us was very sweet and upbeat. However, I believe she was the only server in the entire place during lunch time on the day they decided to post on groupon. It took us about an hour to get served and eat a personal size pizza. The food: I would say it is ok. I had a personal pizza and I think it is kind of neat that they allow you to chose your toppings (one kind of cheese (the usual cheeses, then goat cheese and feta cheese) and anything extra is $1, and if you dont want a veggie pizza, any one kind of meat (pepperoni, meatball, chicken, italian sausage, anchovies, strawberry, etc) is $1 each. They allow you to pick as many veggies as you would like such as carrots, mushrooms, basil, oregano, jalapenos, corn, black olives, green olives, spinach, romaine lettuce, pineapple etc ... The sauce is the same deal. They have basil pesto, sun dried tomato pesto, garlic olive oil, marinara, maybe four more not so special sauces like buffalo sauce. The pizza dough itself you can chose between white or gluten free. The pizza is more like a thin crust kind of pizza which is what I enjoyed the most out of the whole experience. I like thin crust pizza and this one delivers well on that area as it has the bread-like characteristic but has the crackle when you bite into it. However, I found that they are not fair with their portion of the sauce and even though I ordered garlic olive oil with my sun dried tomato pesto, I found the pizza very dry. (we even joked that the water they serve on cheap plastic transparent cups are there to help you swallow the pizza). The toppings, although I ordered a healthy bit, were also lacking in portion. I found 4 leaves of basil on my pizza (no spinach although i requested for it), i did not taste any oregano, the portion of italian sausage, sliced with a very thin blade in slithers, is maybe, maybe an ounce? However, I did enjoy the fact that they add some really hot jalapenos in there. The "build your own pizza" starts at 7 bucks and if you add extra cheese or any meat, then thats when it can get pricey. I wouldnt blame anyone for requesting for extra meat, since for the portion served for a dollar, you do not even know that it is there. I will suggest however, the basil pesto and goat cheese combo. They actually make your pizza taste quite original... yet this order came out dry as well. The Ambiance: It is what to expect in a college-student-supported place. I was quite intrigued to find this 'beach shack' in between two classy - looking joints. It makes for a professional person or a person with slight age feel quite out of place as you see another person, literally across from you on the other joint, drinking from glass wines with actual silverware and you are sitting outside with plastic cups and garden furniture. It was no surprise to me that club Opera was still across from it. I guess thats why this place is still here...their main revenue comes from the out-pour of club opera crowd. In which, I cannot blame the 20 and early 30 somethings to adore this place: they have several icee-like machines.. with, surprise: alcohol icees. Parking: No surprises here since it is downtown. There maybe 4 or 6 metered spots right in front of the restaurant... which all depends on good luck if you ever get them. There is parking behind this place. Today, we had to pay 4 bucks to park. Otherwise, we probably wouldve burned the same amount of money on gas trying to find a free spot since there are these two other restaurants side by side this place. All in all: If you like to sit and get wasted for cheap... meh, this is the place. Especially if youre feeling cool and hip and all that good stuff. However, if youre feeling a bit classy or just want to have an actual dining experience, then there are the other two joints surrounding it. This place is intended for the younger crowds who doesnt indulge much into aesthetics. Maybe on a drunk desperate night I may wonder, or with a coupon I may get swindled... Otherwise, I honestly think I can get a better pizza for 8 bucks and some change.

As a fraternity man, and current advisor - I have to object to all the "frat-tastic" and frat party references. Having attended many fraternity parties across the country, the one common quality out of those events is that they can be very exclusive and are for the benefit of the guys putting on the event. In contrast, the staff at Flip Flops seem to be friendly and open, and whether you stay downstairs to listen to the band, or join the virtual mosh pit upstairs - you will have a good time if you know what you are in for. I like the fact that the $5 cover on Wednesdays goes to charity, and the barely 21 crowd can be a lot of fun. Plus, I am of the opinion that good hip hop doesn't exist past 1999 - so this is a good place to dance to some 90s tracks. I don't like using the phrase, but when it comes to Flip Flops "It is what it is." You either like it or you don't.

Welcome to the tiki bar, you can take your bra off now. Flip Flops delivered me a wonderful top shelf long island iced tea during the Halloween pub-crawl this past weekend. Like any good fraternity bar, it helped that my bestie sat on the bar like Tila Tequila ready for some body shots. These things help. Bless our hearts, our hearts full of long island iced tea and mixed emotions. I enjoyed Flip Flops for a few reasons: 1. It's huge. two story, patio, balcony, the works. 2. There is a stage. Re: Tila Tequila. 3. And when you meet someone that you'd rather not talk to, or perhaps running into your ex? It's big enough to lose em! COOL. Or you can take Jenna Marbles's advice on avoiding people you don't want to talk to at a bar: youtube.com/watch?v=8wRX… I suppose the ambiance I am trying to portray would be your general "fratty" bar. Cheesy yet overpriced, much like Panama City Beach meets Midtown. You'd generally want to go here if you are already drunk. I'm not saying I didn't have a blast, my friends, but it's the type of place where you can meet a lot of people, embarrass yourself, and never return. Or do you..?

Music is too loud. But, hey, they have $8 drinks which are basically a drunk Slushy. What's not to like on a hot Atlanta evening. Sitting outside avoids the excessive over-amplification of the music.

Flip Flops: It is what it is. And that is very reminiscent of some frat parties from my freshman year of college and/or a Senor Frog's in Cancun. Sometimes it can be too much, but if you are down to party this is a good spot and much less pretentious than say, Opera or CosmoLava. Sometimes I love that I feel like I'm at a giant house party in college, but sometimes its really freaking annoying. However, the dance floor is great, and the frozen drinks are better (and reallly strong). Get the Jet Fuel. I know it sounds highly douchey, but its actually pretty good. Also, usually the service in here is really good (if you can get to the bar). We came here for my friend's bachelorette party and since we were really early and literally the only people in the place, the bartender gave us a free round of shots. Very nice! My experiences here have been less and less enjoyable (other than the free shots), but that is probably because I'm just getting too old for this place. Sigh. LOVED it at 23.

This is summer in a bar: tiki huts, frozen drinks, fun music, and porches. The average age is 21.1, it definitely has a younger crowd. The bartender Kentucky is the coolest guy I've every met, I'm pretty sure people go there just for him.

I walked into this place and the first thing I thought was, "Am I on Spring Break?" Totally caters to the frat-tastic crowd along with the travelling band of sorostitutes. There were a couple girls around dressed somewhat Midtown fancy and they totally looked out of place. This is an "oasis" for the college crowd in a sea of Midtown fanciness, I suppose. It comes complete with a live musician singing covers of hit frat songs and such. Anyway, I must admit that I have a fondness for Wet Willie's type alcohol in smoothie form drinks. Not that they're actually any good but it is pretty hilarious to try to get a 7-11 type slushee that's extremely alcoholic. I'd go back here to get my drink on (and maybe my grind on upstairs too) before I head to another Crescent Ave. bar. SPRING BREAK! WHOOO!!!

I have a new favorite bar. It's called Flip Flops. It's across the street from Opera. The first time I walked into this place, "Banditos" by The Refreshments was playing. I immediately had a good feeling about this place. It's like a really good house party. Sometimes they have live acoustic music downstairs. When they don't they have good music playing. They have dance music upstairs. They have another bar upstairs. It's like a mix between CJ's Landing and Twisted Taco. I had to laugh at all the girls standing in a long line wearing dresses on a chilly night to get into Opera while we all were drinking and having fun over at Flip Flops. My favorite things about this place: It's a very casual place. The decor is great. It's not too crowded yet. It has an attractive crowd.

So... don't let the name deceive you. Street level is margaritaville, and flip flops. But down stairs, you have your more legitimate club atmosphere with accompanying dj and silly roped off 'vip chairs'. They have a pretty small space. It can't be more than 1000 square feet, however it doesn't get too crowded though the clientele is sort of a weird mix.

    (3)
  • Enakai C.

I've been to flip flops twice. Both times most of the clientele stared at me and my queer friends. When we first walked into this place my ladyfriend was ready to leave due to all the gawking dude-bros. Even though people stared, everyone was generally nice on the first visit. On the second visit we overheard a bunch of guys at the bar joking about rape. They have a gender neutral bathroom, which makes me give them a little more credit, but I would never come here on a weekend due to the horrible dude-bros. The only reason I'm giving them 3 stars is the fact that their frozen drinks are effing amazing. The rum runner and bombsicle are freaking delicious, and I like to mix them with the jet fuel to give them a little more kick. The only food I've had here was the parmesan artichoke dip, which was mostly mayonnaise and kind of gross.

  • JP H.

Gave it four stars because of the drinks. Slushies were okay but $8 for something that doesn't have much liquor and that you sip on for an hour so you don't get a brain freeze is a lot. It was slow getting started and everyone was packed awkwardly downstairs with not so great music. But once the upstairs dance floor opened, it was SO FUN. There were some barely 21-year-olds there as well as a few in their 40s. Great crowd by and large. Don't tip the DJ to hear your song. It'll come. Staff for the most part is great (bouncers) bartenders tend to be irritated except for Dunbar and most of them downstairs. The bar upstairs is small. Nice that you can smoke if you wish up there as well. Music GREAT. It's not pretentious and if you're not you'll have fun.

We had a very fun time here! Food- wasn't the best, however the service was good, and it was just what we needed for a fun pick me up. We will definitely be going back!

Two words: JET FUEL and you have a guaranteed ridonkulous night. Ok real talk though, flip flops always looks really crowded on the outside.. which makes you hesitant to go in - but this is only b/c their patios and balcony are nice and people like to hang out outside. It's actually not that super crowded. Downstairs, they have more chill music, live band, hanging out ,sitting around. Upstairs is more like a bow chicka wow wow gettin downnn kinda dance club area - super fun and may need a few drinks in you already to enjoy. Definitely a worthy stop in your night out in midtown.

I have been to Flip Flops maybe 3 or 4 times both on Fridays and Saturdays. And every time I have had a blast. This is not your typical upscale sophisticated Friday or Saturday night spot. However, if you are looking for a good time and a good environment Flip Flops is the place to be. Downstairs, is always a live band performing as well as a full bar with alcohol slushy machines. If you just want to relax and meet and greet with people or try your game with the opposite of sex, downstairs is the perfect place to be do so. Upstairs is where the party is at. The DJ always plays a good variety of music and keeps the party live all night long. The dance floor can and does get crowded really quickly, however its not an uncomfortable crowded. There are also a couple of bars upstairs as well, with great bar tenders. There is also an outside space. Looking to get away for a minute or get to know a person better, Flip Flops has a nice size patio which remains open all night, giving you the opportunity to catch a breather from the dance floor or if you just want some fresh air. The music can still be heard while your on the patio, providing a relaxing lounge experience. ( in a way) Overall Flip Flops is great spot just to simply come and have fun.

This is actually one of my favorite places to go in Midtown. Sometimes the crowd is a hit or miss (I've had some not so pleasurable experiences with it), but I usually end up having a great time. If you don't like crowds, you probably shouldn't go here, but the "crowdy-ness" is no different than most places in the area at night. I've sampled most of the frozen drinks but I am a big fan of the Jet Fuel. They are $8 each but really strong so- worth it. I really like the contrast of the "chill bar scene" downstairs and the "club scene" upstairs. They could probably have a better dance floor set up (there really is no dance floor... just people dancing where ever), but the music is right on for dancing (they have a dj). Sometimes it's a little tough to maneuver around... and I am still trying to figure out why they throw napkins everywhere, but definitely a good time :)

LUNCH REVIEW So it seems like this place gets some bad reviews for its nightly frat parties...hey I hat douche bags with popped collars as much as the next person but I'm here to talk lunch people. Lunch really isnt all that bad. If you work in the area it is worth a try. They have a nice selection of personal pizzas, calazones and sandwiches. I went with the Zeus pizza and give it a thumbs up. Prices are reasonable and service was pretty quick. Co-worker had a meatball sub that looked pretty darn good as well so I think next time I'm going with a sandwich.

Ok for what it is, its fine! It is literally margarita-ville in downtown Atlanta, which is weird fine, but you do feel like its vacation with all the frozen drinks etc. It is a younger crowd, kind of preppy, but not nearly as fratastic as like 5paces or other areas in buckhead. I'm not really a "club" person, but if you are drunk this place is a blast. Well I guess most places are a blast when you are inebriated, but Flip Flops is particularly conducive for this behavior. The upstairs has more of a dance/type thing going on, i.e. DJ etc, so if you want to uh dance you can head upstairs.

    (3)
  • Emily G.

This place is great if you don't want to dress up for the clubby places but also want to dance and don't want to just sit at a bar. Great in between- casual wear with dancing available :) I like that it has 2 floors, so you can chill at the busy bar downstairs, or go upstairs to dance it up or chill on the balcony. They have a lot of different types of adult slushies that are super sweet, but pretty tasty (warning, do NOT get the "gator hater", its pretty nasty tasting). I danced my ass off and had a great time.. but I didn't enjoy paying the $5 cover. :p

I came here about 2 years ago on suggestion of a chill place to go out with friends. This place is really an early undergraduate college kids haven. This reminded me of a much cleaner/ chiller place I used to go to before I was over 18 yrs when all of my friends would go to TJ across the border to party. Just that, but obvi much safer and nicer and more expensive version ;) Been there, done that... not for me anymore and not my crowd. If you still think you're in college, see you here. There are much better options within this area or elsewhere in Atlanta.

I tried to have a corporate party at this place. I was guaranteed the food would be ready and the event would be set up by 5:30. I was there 45 minutes early to a locked door. They didn't open until 4:50 and had just learned about my event a few hours earlier. The oven takes over an hour to heat and my apps wouldn't be ready until 6:45 or longer. The service was good but the manager is unethical and decided to add an additional $500 to my tab for no reason and after reviewing the bill wanted to actually fight me that he was right. Eventually after speaking to his manager my bill was reduced to the proper amount which still may be incorrect. Regardless, this place is unprofessional and I will never do business with them again. @flipflopsatl

I attended a benefit event thrown here for the Atlanta Children's Hospital last Saturday. There is nothing spectacular and nothing offensive about this place. It's laid-back and easy. All in all, I agree with much of these reviews. If you are looking to feel like you fell back into a huge frat party - flip flops is for you. If you're looking for something more "done up", head across the street to Opera becase you are in the wrong bar.

Flip flops is our go to place. My girls and I always seems to end up here when other places let us down. It has the look and feel of a neighborhood bar in the middle of the city. It's nothing fancy but everything beachy/collegy. Dress is casual and there is no dress code (thank God) but a lot of people come here after the clubs so some people are lookin' fiiine. On the weekends there is a DJ upstairs (playing hip hop and popular tunes) that is always reliable and amazing and downstairs there is a really good live band playing covers. The crowd is a mix of people of all shapes, sizes, and colors. The bartenders are crazy (in a good way), attractive, and are always dancing (often on the bar). Even though it's in the middle of midtown - you can pretty much always fine the same bartenders and regulars. The place gets packed and HOT after midnight, especially upstairs and if you need a break you have to squeeze through a sweaty crowd to get to the porch outside. They serve pizza all day and night and it's nice sometimes to go early before the big party begins and sit on the patio and people-watch all the club goers walking by. It has the feel of a college bar so occasionally there are some brawls. Nevertheless, the bouncers are attentive and always kick trouble makers out quickly. The cover is usually free before 11 and $5 after. If it gets really packed they will do $10 for crowd control. They have tons of fruity frozen drinks that are usually $6-$8 (the jet fuel is dangerous!). Mixed drinks are usually $6-$7 and beers are cheap. Their prices are much better than the surrounding bars/clubs. Plus, if you befriend the bartenders or are with a group of hot girls you can get a free fruity shot here and there. Sweaty fun dancing and a flash back of college life guaranteed here.

Ode to Flip Flops: Poor man's Wet Willy's. Endless popped collars - am I in Va-Hi? Smells like barf inside but I want a frozen drink that badly. Funk gets stronger the farther you walk in. Not as strong as Wet Willy's drinks (grain alcohol = rufie colada) but still tasty. Brain freeze hits me hard. Please add key lime to your glorified slurpee list. Grind to all your top 40 hits like all the other places in this 'hood. Feel bad for all the people eating a nice meal next door. See you in the summer.

I have always liked flipflops, but it depends the mood you are in. I like going with my girls and getting the ever famous frozen drinks. It's cheap cover and i like being able to dance upstairs, go out on the patio for some air, and then go downstairs for a different scene. Definitely a younger crowd. I'd much rather go here then across the street to Opera, even with being a fan of clubs. One question though: Anyone know if flip flops is 21+ or 18+? I'm over 21 so never had to think about it. I have some friends coming into town, and of course all of atlanta is 21+

Love this new bar. Just opened off of Crescent Street next to Fuego Spanish Grill (one block west of Peachtree Street, between 13th Street and 14th Street). Cozy downstairs with live music .... the staff are great, prompt and fun to talk to. upstairs its a whole 'nother scene with hot dance music and two twirling rainbow light balls at the center (my FAVORITE -- shows they want to have fun but don't take themselves too seriously!). Plenty of room to dance and I loved the step stair layout so that it wasn't just one mash of people in the center. Ran into tons of old friends. Only turn-off was that the live music downstairs was reminiscent of a Buffett + Peachtree Tavern blend (bleh) ... YET the crowd was much classier and a little older than the 18 year olds notorious for frequenting the trashier P'Tree Tavern and Moon Dogs up Peachtree in Buckhead. Love this place! Thanks staff for all of your hard work.

Parking - The parking deck is not too far from there. The fee for parking was $10. Cover - There was a $5 cover. Setting - I got there about 11:00 on a Friday night. There was no line to get in, which was great because it was cold outside (or else, I wasnt dressed warm enough). However, once inside, I wasnt about to be cold with all that body heat! It was crowded upstairs and downstairs. They did have rooms off to the sides where there were benches and places to sit that werent as crowded. Getting to the bar was not happening downstairs, so we went upstairs. Upstairs was fun...reminded me a little of The Loft in Athens, GA. (for those of you who know that bar). There was a dance area, a small bar, and places to sit or stand around the side. My friends and I commandered a corner of the "room to the side" and enjoyed each others company without the hassle of rubbing up against strangers. Miller Lite was $4.50. Yuenling was $5.00. A shot of Patron was $9.00. That is in keeping with Atlanta Bars (I am still not used to it yet). I'll go back, but probably not too often.

Official home of the "douche." Do some steroids, get in a tanning booth, put on some gel and wear your polo shirt (popped collar of course). Looks like BP's oil spill reached us in midtown as everyone looked like they were covered in grease. They do have booze but I'd rather consume it the way I usually do, from a brown paper bag while I ogle the hot chicks waiting in line to get into Opera.

Pretty dope place. No big quarrels. If I remember correctly I think the cover was $5 or $10. Kind of similar to Twisted Taco & Moondogs/Hole In The Wall. Ace from Real World: Paris is the owner (shut down his old bar in Carrollton to open this one) & the night I went he and Cohutta were in full effect. Weird yet hilarious. Dance floor upstairs sets off more of the club vibe & downstairs is usually real chill live music. All in all, staff is courteous, music is decent, change of pace if you don't want to wait in the long line that usually accompanies Opera (which is located directly across the street).

If you want to be reminded of what college was like, this is the place. Recently opened in October, this is hidden in Midtown right next to South City Kitchen, across from Opera. They have a huge selection of Maragaritas, which I don't really see people drink... this isn't like a peachtree tavern but not like a east andrews either. There's an upstairs where you can "dance," and the downstairs is more for socializing and sitting around (hence why there are barstools). You'll find people there rarely dressed up to go out. They are more in their casual wear- like North Face jackets and Sperries... (I am writing this in December.) I'd say go during the weekday, but weekends go somewhere where the people are dressed up to actually go out, instead of people who look like they are going to class.

I liked this place. It's fairly small but that way it feels like there's a lot of people there. The atmosphere is fun and relaxed. Lots of people either dancing inside or chillin outside. Good music, too.

Coming from a town where we never pay cover, we had a hard time paying to get in anywhere. Finally found flip flops, ladies in free, guys $5. We can handle that. Turned out to be a great choice - fun music, awesome people watching. It's one of those places where everyone gets a little bit sloppy drunk and has a good time

Fun bar. Always seem to have a $5 cover. Dancing upstairs, moderately priced drinks, young/mixed crowd. Worth checking out if you are in Midtown.

Cool place. Good music. Bartenders are very good. The hurricane is pretty tasty, and does the job. I lived in Florida for most of my life, and this place really does have a Florida atmosphere. I hear it gets a little too crowded weekend nights, but if it's not it is a great chill bar. I like it as long as it's not packed.

Hanging out on the upstairs deck with some friends was fun, and the Jet Fuel is quite tasty, though stronger than I expected. We danced for awhile upstairs, but it smelled better outside so we returned to the deck. The bathrooms are nasty, so if it's not an emergency, don't go. The bartenders are good and very friendly, but when one of them let someone else close out my tab and sign my name without my knowledge, I was not happy. The "someone else" was a good friend of mine, so it was OK, but I wasn't thrilled about the whole thing.

Very divey atmosphere. The slush drinks make me feel nostalgic and the music is generally a fun, eclectic mix. Crowd is a mix of older and early 20s... Hate how they throw napkins spontaneously on the dance floor.

So, I've been to Flip Flops thrice now and, while it's really not my typical kind of place, it's not THAT bad. It's obviously not my scene, particularly since I don't normally show enough skin to win and I've got about ten years on the average age of the crowd. But, if I was still a young party girl, I think I might enjoy it here (on occasion). They do have a nice deck and an outdoor area that's pretty big. The whole place is pretty large except I hate the layout of the downstairs bar because there's such a narrow area to stand in line for drinks and it gets really crowded with people walking through, etc. They have those Fat Tuesday-like machines full of frozen libations and, while they are obviously mass-produced, I don't hate this concept. What I do hate is that the frozen pina colada I ordered tasted bad. It just tasted like alcohol and had no real other flavor. After that, I stuck to beer. The bartenders seemed nice enough and pretty efficient, and when I saw fights breaking out between various Big Ten fans (at the pub crawl), the bouncers and security handled the situation really well (apparently these guys had been quite fighty for a while that day). I won't rush back to this place but I also would probably not refuse to go here.

It's like a frat house. Lame lame lame.

I'm not sure of the direct address of this place, and google turns up nothing. This is the bar across the street from 1150/Opera. Its brand new, actuallly opened 10-30-08. My friends and I for a long time wistfully looked at the abandoned house next to South City Kitchen on Crescent and thought it would be a great place for a club...well now it is. The place is a Jimmy Buffett Caribbean themed bar with 10 or so frozen like margarita combinations on tap. The decor is a combo of old house/tiki torchish feeling that goes with the drinks. One problem my friends ran into...The bartenders managed to overcharge us for drinks twice. Both times we went to the bar we had to question the total we were quoted (and both times it ended up we were right and they were wrong). I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, it being opening day and all, but something to be wary of...that $8 drink may be $16 when you get the bill. The crowd seemed on the youngish side...I'm 28 and felt about 3 years too old for this place, however I'll mark that up to the private party that was there before us (maybe it was a sorority/fraternity thing). It is across the street from Opera. We set on the uppper deck and watched the halloweeen costumes work their way thru the line inside Opera. I'm sure it will be a good crowd watching place I'd compare Flip-Flops to Twisted Taco around the corner...both specialize in that sorority/fraternity/margarita crowd. I'd give Flip-flops the advantage for location, just watch your bill for that round of drinks.

Despite the fact that some of my friends hate it, I kinda like this place. The patio and balcony are great when it's nice out and it seems like they usually have a pretty lively crowd. They have a ton of different slushy-like alcoholic drinks too which is kinda cool - but watch out for the Jet Fuel (the orange one), it tastes delicious but will knock you out. Trust me, I know from experience. My one complaint is that it's kind of small. Always seems like people are jammed inside, especially when it's cold out so no one's on the patio.

Flip flops is off the chain. The best place in Atlanta to go out. Not one of those douchy Opera clubs. Cool people, fun atmosphere, great drinks.

I went here with a friend when I was visiting and it was OK. It looks like a house when you walk in and the atmosphere is one of a giant house party. Very crowded, good music, and good drinks. I would go again. I guess the owner is someone from one of the Real World's so you can imagine the atmosphere they are trying to achieve.

Went here for the first time on Sat. for my friends birthday. Love the Drinks, it was very easy getting a drink, I never had to wait, which is pretty awesome in my book! Bathroom situation sucks, they need one upstairs, it is a hassle to walk all the way downstairs, fight another crowd and then do it all again to go back upstairs. The drinks are a little on the expensive side, I will have to go again and see if it is worth it. I love the atmosphere and will definately be back this summer!

If you are a fan of overcrowded frat houses, this is the place for you. It was very cramped and hard to get a drink, but the prices were reasonable and the location is pretty cool, within walking distance to many other bars. Upstairs is for dancing, downstairs they have an acoustic cover band. The whole "Key West" theme kind of gets lost in the shuffle. Not a bad place to go every once in a while. But if you're not in college anymore and don't enjoy the mosh-pit atmosphere of bumping and grinding into people all night, probably some better options out there. The crowd was very young and definitely seemed like it was Greek oriented from the Ga Tech/Ga State crowd. Bottom line: worth checking out, not going to be a favorite spot though.
