I'll tell you this one time and one time only..get the Hazedilla...I add shrimp but I can't see it being just as awesome the way it comes off the menu, sans shrimp. The vegetables inside the honey wheat tortilla are the perfect mixture for the tastebuds. See Jeff at the bar he makes you feel right at home.

First time here. Had the shrimp taco and some other fish taco came with rice and beans. First of all where are the Mexican restaurants that gave you complimentary chips and salsa. I might try this place again but only if they get a new waitstaff that has customers skills and personality.

This place has a great patio, the food was great (get the smoked tacos) but the service was seriously lacking. The service was fine until we were just about finished with our food, then we had to wait 30 minutes for our check. Before you all hate me for this post, please note: it was around 3 on a Saturday - not a busy time, not a lot of other tables to wait on. No excuse for us to have to wait that long.

For whatever reason I thought Elmyriachi was going to be a sushi restaurant before I went in for the first time. Probably because: A) I still don't know how to pronounce the name. B) Doesn't look like a stereotypical Mexican influenced restaurant. Am I seriously the only one!? lol Anyways, I really love this place! Great, unique, well seasoned food! I've had the Taco Salad. All the calories with some veggies mixed in. Had it with the Cilantro Lime dressing. Topped with toasted flour tortilla strips. And nixed the black olives because ew. But, salad was flipping YUMM! I also highly recommend the tampiqueno burrito. Lots of cheese, spiciness, juicy steak and love goes into that wopping 5 pounder! Okay, so it probably doesn't weigh 5 lbs, but it will make you feel like you have a food baby in your belly! And I did since I ate the whole thing! Stellar service! Kid friendly! Highchairs and small kids menu. Also, has a creative, punk-rock, great selection of music, and welcoming feel. Has the best cactus art outside...I believe created by local artist "sQuishiepuss". And, the pièce de résistance is the rockin' outside seating! There's plenty of seating covered by the awning and some tables partial to the sun with umbrellas. Great view of the street and adorable Kirkwood village. Elmyri--I still can't pronounce it, is bitchin' to say the least!

Love this place, and so far I've only seen the patio during lunch. Given their beer list, I'm putting this on rotation for evening activities. Baja (fish) tacos very solid, if a bit standard. Nothing wrong with getting it right even if others do as well. I love fish tacos. Wife's green burrito looked pretty good too, and came with very tasty green and red salsas. The rest of the menu entices.

Awesome food (lots of options for vegans/vegetarians), awesome service, cool vibe but wish the indoor seating was a bit more comfortable! def recommend!

My friend and I were here on Friday night for dinner. Nice Mexican spot in the Kirkwood neighborhood. Plenty of parking and large patio packed with couples, families, and groups of friends. Though the sun was setting, it was 90 degrees outside and I was secretly relieved that there was no seating available outside. So my friend and I sat inside. It was quite a kid friendly spot but most of the families were wrapping up as we got seated. A little disappointed that it took ten minutes for a server to even come over and give us menus. Another ten minutes to order our drinks. Once the server came, she apologized for the slow service. I asked her whether the classic or organic margarita was better. She had a great response...organic goes down easy like water but the classic is strong and more like a slow sipper. I chose the organic margarita and it was very easy to drink and delicious! We also ordered queso. Does life get more enjoyable than queso and margaritas? I could have this on a daily basis. Our server then took our dinner entree orders and informed us that the kitchen was behind and it would take 25 minutes for our food to come. She apologized and said she would happily bring us more chips/dip and drinks in the meantime. Despite the wait for our food, the server was great and helpful in telling us about the various food and drinks options. I ordered the Baja shrimp tacos and my friend ordered the smoked pork tacos. I enjoyed my meal and she did too. This is definitely a place I would love to grab margaritas and queso but not sure I would do dinner given the long kitchen wait time when they are busy.

I would just like to make it clear that I didnt write my previous review on a whim or on my first visit. I gave this place multiple tries to get it right. Forget the suspicions that I and what appears to be many others have about this place profiling their customers, the service was the problem. Not just once but four times when I visited. You would think that out of four chances they would have gotten one, just one time right. They didnt and it was the same pattern each time. That means that the staff was some how influenced either by design or by inaction by management. In fact when i presented the problem to a manager, there seemed to be no interest in finding any solution. This was not simply one day I noticed some arbitrary thing at a restaurant and went off on them. Its a pattern.

Tried this place for the first time and spent the whole afternoons on the patio drinking Verde Margaritas! They are a little spicy, a little creamy and a lot delicious and refreshing! Their turkey chorizo and cheese dip is outstanding! Love the steak and chimichurri tacos! The shrimp Baja tacos are also great. They also have the perfect chicken quesadilla! They also have a parking lot and if you have one too many margaritas, they will let you park overnight :-)

Came here with a friend last Saturday with a friend. It was my first time, but he frequents it. Came in for a late lunch - there were a decent number of people there, but still several open tables. We got attended to pretty quickly, and our orders came relatively quickly (except my friend asked the waiter for a lemon for his water a couple times, and never actually got it). I got a steak fajita burrito and he got a taco salad with some chorizo on the side. We also got some house chips and salsa. I'm used to those coming with the meal, but we had to pay for them here. And they weren't particularly special either. We both really liked out food though, and they were good sized servings.

Don't think of this as three stars. Think of it as a very enthusiastic 3.5 stars. The food here is good. It's not going to knock your socks off. For that, you want El Progreso over on Boulevard, which is a simple, no frills taco stand in the back of a grocery store. But the food at Elmyriachi is well-flavored and will sate your craving for Mexican if you want table service and/or booze with your meal. I go for the tacos verde dish, which comes with refried beans and rice. The sides are only serviceable, which unfortunately, is pretty common at Mexican restaurants. I've had refried beans and rice that I would devour as a meal unto itself. So although I'm not surprised, I'm always a little disappointed when I come across pedestrian rice and beans. Anyway, moving on to the tacos. They're pretty good. The first time I got the dish, I got one chicken and one steak. And now that's just kind of my default. The steak taco has a kick to it, while the other has tender, moist chicken. The portions of meat are good. My only complaint is that the tortillas can be a little greasy, although I appreciate that they fry them a bit to give a slight crunch. The beer list is small but includes some fun options. The other main component of their menu is burritos, of which I'm not a huge fan. I simply prefer tacos over burritos, but considering they have some interesting options, I'll have to check them out sometime. Service is good. Bathrooms are clean. Parking seems to be sufficient but I haven't been during peak times. Elmyriachi is definitely on my list for Mexican-when-BuHi-is-just-too-faaaaaaar-and-also-I-want-a-beer.

My favorite place to eat! I always get the tofu chimichanga but I'm sure all dishes are just as tasty. Fresh guacamole is always good.

Every time I drive by Elmyriachi I tell myself to try it out and I finally stopped by today. Because it's kind of cloudy out, I opted to sit inside rather than on the patio - which is lovely and large and looks like a great place for patio drinking. I would have cozied up to the bar, but it was packed with some rowdy (in a non-annoying way) regulars. I ordered the queso con carne with the carne = turkey chorizo. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was really good. The turkey chorizo was spicy but not oily, and I LOVED that aspect of it. For a drink, I ordered the special, the blood meridian (dark rum, blood orange liqueur and some other stuff I can't remember...my bad). It was spicy in a nutmeg kind of way; something that would pair better with brunch food (french toast and pancakes) than the tacos and queso I ordered. But it was tasty and beautifully made. I ordered the smoked tacos with pork on corn tortillas. They were gorgeous (see photo) and the taste was good. I would have liked a little more sauce, just a tad. But I loved the crunch of the veggies, the smoky flavor of the pork and the tortillas were perfect. It took me a while to eat the tacos because I was reading and eating queso and the tortillas didn't wilt under the ingredients. I'm glad I gave Elmyriachi a try. I would definitely visit again to try other menu items - especially a margarita. Yelp 100 #23

I can't believe how hopping this place can be; I think it's a real sign of the lack of dining options in Kirkwood, because Elmyriachi just isn't worth what it puts you through. First of all, let me say I am a loyal and true fan of Elmyriachi's older, scudsier sister, Elmyr. Everything that's great about Elmyr is gone in Elmyriachi. The ambiance in this newer, kid-friendly restaurant is severely lacking, probably because they think they can coast on the patio, which isn't even all that great. The staff, save for a few, are just not good. Servers can take 10+ minutes to acknowledge you and every single time I've gone, something on my order has been wrong. Sometimes it's minor, but sometimes an entire dish is screwed up. The last straw for me was recently when my partner and I met another couple for dinner. Not only did our waitress take an inordinate amount of time to greet us, she got our appetizer wrong and completely ruined my friends meal, who had ordered items a la carte because of a food allergy that she mentioned to our server first thing. She ordered three items: rice, black beans, and corn tortillas. What she got? rice, pinto beans, and flour tortillas. When we alerted the server, she blamed my friend, arguing that she put in what we ordered. Not only was that wrong, it was a really poor way to handle what could have be easily remedied had we not already been off on a bad start. Almost all of Kirkwood's dining options are overrated on sites like Yelp because people are just grateful that options are now available. It's just too bad that they're not as good as they could be. A solid mexican(ish) joint is ideal for any neighborhood, but Elmyriachi isn't solid. Other notes: very kid friendly and lights out and closed up by 10:30/11pm.

Great Place to stay! Incredible good burritos on the menu, I could hardly decide which one I should take. Came down to the Fajito Burrito - AMAZING! It has everything in it I need in my burrito ;-) Try also the Queso Dip- more than delicious!!

Man, everything I craved while pregnant I could not have. My favorite soy yogurt was out of production, and an El Myr burrito was out of reach for being a smoking establishment. I had to stand by staring at that smoky den for over nine months, y'all. But now I have Elmyriachi, in all of its non-smoking glory. We walked, or walked and strolled in with our baby butt and were seated on the covered patio with room for the stroller to be parked by the table. Amazing. We always order a BBQ tofu burrito and we were able to get it here as well. They also have some amazing vegan specials- it's good to follow their Instagram and Facebook to hear about it first. It's a great addition to the neighborhood and more kid friendly, which is now something I have to worry about. I don't feel judged when Rowan squeals and the staff is always willing to bring her a little side of guac (which she absolutely loves!) My last rave is that they take Amex, woooo!!! Now I don't have to pay every time I go!

Decent food...decent prices. Not the best parking location ...and the drinks were just average. Maybe back but simply due to the proximity of the location.

Whatever preconceived notions you have are probably all wrong. After quite a pleasant surprise, this place definitely deserves my rewarding review and thanks to Robin for getting me in the door. So here's the deal. I am not even sure if any Mexicans work here, but the food is pretty darn good. When you walk in, the Doors or some other classic rock song will be playing and there is a cool cat canvas art on your right. There is a great bar that boasts that great neighborhood bar feel. The servers put out that hipster vibe but my server was really on top of things and didn't miss a beat even though my stepdad spouted off this complicated order (he doesn't eat anything white) and it came out perfectly even though our server never wrote anything down--awesome! They have a decently creative list of cocktails and margaritas--I was quite happy with my cool and delish margarita verde, boosted with avocado puree (don't worry-it's not thick at all) and jalapeño juice. Hmmm, hmmm. They also surprisingly have an eclectic beer list well beyond Tecate and Corona. So, then the heavenly bowl of cheese dip arrived and as usual, I dumped a large ramekin of jalepenos in it. Look, I am in the class of folks that realize there are many different levels of queso--they are not all created equal. This cheese dip is zingy, zangy packed with cheesy loveliness. Thank god I can get amazing cheese dip close to my house. When we initially sat down, our server immediately went through the menu and described his favorite dishes. He totally sold me on the Tampiqueno Burrito. OMG! This was like tasting a Mexican bombshell of flavor. It is a Steak Fajita burrito with jalapeños and topped with queso and verde sauce, served with rice and beans. I will be honest, the refried beans were a little too Tex for me and not enough Mex. My Mom got the Taco Salad--of course I tasted--it was perfect and no dressing needed. Quite an impressive heap of salad for less than 7 bucks. I will most certainly be making this one of my neighborhood hangouts and I'm sure I will love the vibe even more once it is warm enough for me to enjoy their large patio.

Update: I've been here several times since my first review, and it hasn't impressed me any further. Which is unfortunate because some of my friends like the margaritas enough that they rope me into coming. Anyway, the food quality is highly variable. I'm not sure if it depends on the cook that happens to be on shift or what, but sometimes things are soggy and/or the burritos have ingredients clumped and not mixed at all, sometimes it's fine. The wait staff is sometimes ok, but usually we get pretty poor service. Once, the waiters were confused as to who was supposed to wait on us so no one did, and after 20 minutes of not being attended to after being seated, I had to go up and request someone. At all times, waits for food and drink are very long though, even once when I went here for lunch with hardly anyone else there (took like 15 minutes to get a beer, and 30 to get a burrito). And just as a note, my friends and I are good tippers (15% for bad service, 20%+ for good service), so that definitely isn't the cause of the bad service. Also, all the brick and hard surfaces on the inside make for an incredibly loud cacophony, so I definitely recommend sitting outside if you can.

I ordered the tres hermanas burrito (veg option) and Baja mahi tacos, which came with sides of rice and refried beans. Gigantic portions so great value for what you pay. The mole and other sauces were a bit on the salty side, but had pretty good flavor. I wish some of the veggies were less overcooked, for a fresher, crisper texture. Guac was good...I wish there was more of it since it does cost extra to add it on. The fish tacos were large but also unmemorable...but always nice to have a grilled fish taco option. I picked up takeout in the middle of a weekend afternoon and the restaurant was actually quite busy. El Myriachi has its own parking lot with plenty of space.

Food can be awesome one out of every three visits. Don't ever go inside the bar area unless you are ready to freeze with the AC down to 70 degrees (not bad on hot days, but it was cold outside and actually colder inside). Took a bit longer to get acknowledged and served water than we had hoped. The initially hostess had a zombie-like attitude that doesn't really work well in the service industry. Drink coffee or something, you're at work. To start, the chips haven't had a consistent taste, since the first time we visited months ago. Some were burnt. One basket was super salty, one wasn't. I had the Gringo burrito, and it was just a runny hot mess. It's as if they forgot to strain the bean and salsa. Burrito leaked a small pond onto my plate rendering the last few bites a mushy mess. Lastly, the acoustics are horrible especially when there are 10 or more people inside. Some sound dampening panels could really help making it a bit easier to talk the person next to you without having to resort to near-yelling to have a conversation with them. Anyways, it's relatively new and I'll be living around the corner so I do hope it turns around.

To be clear, the food is pretty good... It's not amazing but it isn't bad at all... But the service here is so poor that I (an ex server/cook/bartender) had trouble even tipping 15%... Normally you'd have to do something pretty horrible to receive less than 20% from me... But it's just a lack of interest in their customers, a lack of apology for being out of something you ordered 15 minutes ago, a lack of pen and paper to take orders correctly and in turn get the orders right... Basically it's it a total lack of service.

Wow, I'm really shocked by some of the middling reviews. This is one of my new favorite places because it combines the low-key, tasty food at El Myr with a much less smoky environment. They're also open pretty late. I make it a point to try the non-El Myr items on the menu and I've really enjoyed all of them. Portions are generous (for both food and drink). The staff is friendly and efficient and I love having the patio as an option on a nice evening.

Worst servers in Atl!!!! Three times we tried Elmyriachi, two dine in & once to go, all the same. The food is very mediocre! The menu does not represent the food you are going to get. So either the menu needs to be changed or the food needs to. Don't even start me on the servers..... Waited over an hour just to get the order taken. I'm pretty sure my 11year-old daughter could wait tables better then the Servers at Elmyriachi. Sorry I won't be back.

I recently moved from Little 5 to Kirkwood and you can probably imagine my excitement when I realized that my staple resto - Elmyr - was putting in a second location down the street. Hey-o! Their menu is quite a bit different from Elmyr, but there is a nod to their 1st location in the "Elmyr Favorites" section. I felt like I needed to try something different, though, so I ordered Chile Rellenos. Chicken chorizo stuffed inside chile peppers and topped with cheese and red sauce. It was...not bad. The chicken chorizo was actually pretty flavorful, but the dish was not especially flavorful overall. It definitely needed more cheese and sauce. I want my chile rellenos SMOTHERED. AK got the steak verde tacos - good, not great. But definitely good. To me, the steak wasn't as tender as it is at Elmyr. Probably bc it's grass fed and it's going to give me cancer. Eh. Chips and salsa were point. Get on that. Um. I'll be back. Probably. It's right down the street and I can't imagine not giving it another chance to be great. But it's lack of Elmryness makes me sad and while I'm not a chain smoker, i wish there was a little more of the old place in the new place.

I've been looking forward to trying this place out because it got a lot of buzz when it first opened, but now I'm not sure why. Nothing was bad about Elmyriachi. The food was likable enough that we took our leftovers home, but nothing about this place is drawing me back in. The queso we got was tasteless enough that I switched to eating the chips straight, until I realized they were even more bland alone. Our burritos were good, but not great. Portions are very large, but are not packed with flavor. My Rancho Burrito was so dominated by the spice of the chorizo that I couldn't taste the vegetables inside. I thought the side of guacamole it came with would balance out the flavor, but it was blander than the chips. They had a decent number of craft beers on draft (probably 15ish), and have an ideal location with ample outdoor seating. If I was nearby I'd be back, but why bother when i have other tex mex options?

This place is great. Consistently good food and drinks. I really love love love the jalapeño margarita. I had the Hermanas burrito over a bed of lettuce. Yum yum yum! This is a fantastic place to go if you are a vegetarian, lots of options. And did I mention how unique and delicious the jalapeño margarita is?!? Only giving it a 4 star vs 5 because I reserve 5 stars for chef driven places and menus. And another huge perk for this place is the patio is dog friendly! Great spot.

Elmyriachi is a huge plus for all of Kirkwood and will definitely pull people into the neighborhood whom would probably not have before. It's a perfect location on Hosea L Williams with tons of parking surrounded by enough street parking to host a slew of guests, and serves up fare that most will dig from around ATL. Yes, it's new. Opening a restaurant is difficult and it always, let me repeat, always a matter of time for staff to get up to speed with taking orders, running a new POS, making drinks, working with new cooks/chefs, managing flow of patrons, etc. It's a learning curve that every business has to go through. The good thing about Elmyriachi is that they are handling it with grace. We visited for a Saturday lunch and the staff did a good job of accommodating everyone in for a meal. Everyone was nice, attentive, and helpful. Though looking a little overwhelmed, they did a good job of managing the somewhat burrito/taco/margarita-manic crowd. The only drawbacks for food I can make note of are the flavors in the tofu chilequiles and the chile rellenos. The flavors for both, unfortunately, are very flat. I'm not trying to knock what their recipes are, but both were screaming for a bit of adobo or mix of chiles and garlic or anything. Neither housed the striking flavors that I've had from other restaurants, but I'm sure they can improve. The good new is that the chips and salsa are ever dependable and the refried beans are excellent. Definitely worth trying. Also, I'm of the camp that thinks an 11am open time would be great. 12pm is maybe a little too late for lunch for some of the families in the area. I'll definitely be back for a return visit soon. We love Kirkwood and this spot is in a perfect location. I know they'll shake some of the newby blues and get better, too. However, those refried beans are on my mind often. SO GOOD!

We came here during the World Cup, so the patio was pretty packed. We'd been outdoors all day and hadn't had lunch, so I was hangry by the time we were seated. We got the chips and queso to get us started, which was smart to take the edge off. I had the Pad Thai burrito, which was just about the size of my head. The flavors in it were great, but there was absolutely no way I could finish it, especially after munching on some chips. He had a burrito as well, I think, but managed to tear through most of his to not end up taking any home. I ended up eating the small bit of burrito I had leftover that night, even though I wasn't hungry--that's how tasty it was. The crowd here is an interesting mix. Our waitress was wonderful and we chatted about her time in Alaska and on the Appalachian Trail. I think we'll probably come back here, and certainly before going to elmyr since we weren't trapped in clouds of smoke. I don't know definitively whether this will end up in rotation yet, but it certainly hit the spot after working up an appetite.

On a nice day my friend and I decided to take a stroll to kirkwood from Edgewood and have dinner here. As we always see cheerful happy diners outside on the patio when we drove past, we decided to sit outside to partake in the "scene." Once there we felt like we didn't really fit in...just seemed like a very hipster-like crowd. But no biggie we were just there to relax. Having looked at the menu online beforehand I knew I wanted the thai burrito as I'm a big fan of fusion dishes...and thai and mexican is not a combo I have had! It was tasty but not something I'd rush back to get...it was basically a thai stirfry wrapped in a tortilla. Next time Id prefer to get either an authentic mexican burrito or an authentic thai dish. But 3 stars for the creative idea. But no sides to my burrito as its a "special" burrito--it sat by its lone self on my plate. Our waitress was pretty friendly and gave me ideas for a non-alcoholic drink and created a refreshing mojito-like drink. My friends Gringo burrito he said was ok but as it was also a special burrito, no sides to accompany it. We were disappointed that salsa and chips didn't come with the meal automatically and didn't want to pay the extra for it (moe's and Willy's!). Our burritos were both solid but just average flavor-wise--we've had better at other places. And why wouldn't we get some rice and beans with our meal as is typical everywhere else? So overall it is an ok mexican place but not sure we'd go back anytime soon. The cool things: this seems to becoming the norm these days but kudos to their hormone free meat. And very cool their oil is converted to biodiesel!

Awful. 2 stars for generous portions and tasty food when done right. Service tends to be hit or miss. I was in food service for a long time, and it takes a lot for me to actually get annoyed or angry with a dining experience. After my last visit I'm never going back. Service was abysmal. I'm used to the waiting game of Elmyr, but this was another beast entirely. App came out wrong, no big deal, let it go. Waited around 45 minutes to get the rest of our food without so much as a comment or glance from the server. Several items were wrong when the food finally arrived. Server was rude when asked for the wrong items to be switched out, never brought some of them, and still charged us for all of it. To those who think they "profile" their customers for lack of alternativeness - don't worry, the bearded and tattooed crowd have terrible experiences here, too.

This restaurant is suffering from the hype train, but once you get a table, it's definitely worth the wait. I met up with some friend here a few weeks back, and after being ignored by the host for 30 minutes we were finally put on the waiting list. We got some drinks and enjoyed the limited waiting space by the front door. The whole place was packed and people were not deterred from the long lines. Finally, we were able to sit down and eat. Our appetizers took a while, but our hostess was checking on us regularly. The food came, and it was fantastic, even to a vegan!! Overall, we had a good time and can't wait to come back once the crowds die down a bit.

Wow... I really did not like this place. I was excited to try a new restaurant but left feeling like it was a waste. We went on a Saturday night and it was crowded. We waited about 20 minutes for the first available table, which happened to be outside. I was glad to sit outside but our table was directly in the sun and it was super hot. Some of the patio tables have umbrellas...but most do not. This wasn't a deal breaker, of course. The patio allows smoking which isn't my thing. Don't want to smell or breathe smoke while I am eating. There were also a LOT of babies on the night that I went. I did have an early dinner, so I guess that is to be expected but smoking and babies on the patio just do not mix Our service good but the food was not. The chips were mediocre, as was the salsa. The guacamole looked watered down somehow and did not appear to be made "in house" and my tofu thai burrito was basically flavorless. It was supposed to contain some sort of peanut sauce but I didn't taste this at all. The organic margarita was good but the sangria was not. We actually ended up sending the sangria back because the taste was so off. I can count on one hand the number of times I have sent something back. I will say that our server was kind about offering a new drink and this was much appreciated as it is always awkward to send something back at a restaurant. I can safely say that I will not be returning to Elmyriachi any time soon. Maybe this is a "growing pains" kind of situation as other reviewers have mentioned or maybe I just do not like their food. It happens.

We visited Elmyriachi on a Friday night around 9 PM. The place was packed! We waited a hot second for a table and were seated outside in the patio. I generally like all patios, but I had a particularly good feeling about Elmyriachi's. Maybe it was the size or the night sky or that smell of spring rain? Hard to say. But it's worth a star. We ordered beer, and I had the tres hermanas burrito. The craft beer selection if pretty top notch for a Mexican restaurant. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was definitely an interesting take on Mexican food, and I liked the original taste. The portion size was also generous. Plus one for having multiple vegetarian options. My friend had the Tampiqueno Burrito. It was also received. Our waitress seemed exhausted, but she was overall attentive. She joked with us a bit, which is always fun. They also had accessible bike racks! Love that. I'll definitely visit again. Nothing bad to say about the experience, and there are so many more vegetarian options on the menu to try.

I'm a Kirkwoodian and I absolutely love having Elmyriachi in my 'hood. Since it opened, I've come here pretty regularly for margaritas, chips and salsa, and baja fish tacos. Love the patio. Service can be a little spotty, but if you come with a relaxed attitude you'll be fine :-)

I can't eat here enough! I wish calories did not exist! This review is based on my last four experiences... The queso con carne is so good, the turkey chorizo in it is great. Chips can be a little too salty sometimes but don't worry. I have had the Jimmy Mucho burrito with brisket all four times and each time it is consistently amazing. We request the same server everytime - she usually works outside and has black bangs and a ponytail (long hair), her name has slipped my mind :( She is so friendly and always has something fun to say - you can tell she loves her job, which is refreshing when you want good service. The elmyrita (hope this is spelled correctly) is the best for the $ - only one time was it premade and didn't taste right, but everytime prior and since then it has been freshly made. The organic margarita is a little flat in taste to me so I would suggest the basic elmyrita I detailed above. I am a kid-lover, but sometimes it can be a little overwhelming with the amount of kids on the patio; I only say this as a side note to the individuals that want to avoid this - I would suggest going later in the evening. I am so glad this is n the Kirkwood/Edgewood area!

I really wanted to like this place. We waited a half hour for our drinks to arrive on a Monday night and then after another hour of waiting for my order of 3 tacos to arrive, we requested our order to go, which took another 20 minutes. While waiting, watched two other tables get up and leave. I hope they get it together. It was painful to watch, not to mention endure. Food was good, but nothing special.

Thank goodness the food was awesome, cause the service was awful. Better wear something hipster-ish, cause expect long delays if you don't fit the "code."

The drinks were good but the food took a long time to come out. I think we waited about 35-40 minutes. All I ordered was two tacos. However the food was good but they need to improve on the food service aspect.

Love this place and just discovered their brunch: best bacon in town (pork belly omelette) and extremely crunchy home fries.

Definitely isn't El Myr.. I was told this is where the patrons of El Myr go, after they get jobs and have babies.. If that's so, I'm never doing either of those things. The food was mediocre. The drinks were awful (mojito tasted like it was made with cilantro, house margarita taste like it was made with drink-well leftovers.) The service was fine, but didn't make up for anything else. Maybe if they had El Myr's cranberry margarita, I'd consider going back. Maybe.

Awesome! I'm so glad they opened in Kirkwood. There are still some growing pains. The kitchen (by our servers own description) was running behind. Yeah, it was slow. The wait for a table wasn't too bad, but the wait at the bar to get a drink was long. With so many people waiting for tables, and people at the bar eating, maybe a designated line for take out orders and drinks would be good. The drinks are awesome and the food is awesome - we will be back, and be regulars. (Much better than the Oakhurst Mexican options) Both the drink menu and food menu had a lot of options. Our waiter was ____. At times he seemed overwhelmed, maybe a little confused, but he was really nice and overall did a good job. (He was thrown a bit by us wanting separate checks. I thought these days that's really easy?) no biggie, it worked out. I don't think the entire staff has bought into the family friendly concept. If you're going to work at a place that welcomes kids, expect to hear some crying and have some distracted adult customers. Serve plates and drinks OUT OF REACH from little ones. It's not easy, but it is what it is. Smoking on the patio wasn't too bad. I'd prefer no smoking, but we really didn't notice much other than while we waited for our table with the rest of the crowd. I hope they keep the balance of families, and those without kids too. Kirkwood needs that. Welcome to the neighborhood!!! UPDATE: Nov 2014 Downgrading to three stars. The food is still great, but the service is incredibly hit and miss. It seems like there is one server for every two tables, but it can take forever for drink orders to get filled, or you wait a loooong time from a servers first visit to their second. Be prepared to wait, and be aggressive to get your server's attention. We still go three or four times a month.

Pretty average little spot. Not really Tex-Mex, more of of an American/Mexican food joint. The chimichanga was pretty decent, but nothing to write home about. They did have a nice selection of beers. To be honest, I probably wouldn't go back, but would happily go if someone wanted to eat there. Its not terrible, but its not great...not quite just right either. Just average...

We love to come here - food is really good, atmosphere is cool. Wait staff can be hit or miss - waited over 20 minutes for a second drink order - then had the waiter ignore us for another 20 minutes while he waited only on 1 table at a time. Needless to say my family will move tables if we ever have this guy again. What can I say, I'm a sucker for hood restaurants!

Extra star for the wonderful service tonight. We came in with a big birthday crowd including several riotous children, and the staff rearranged tables and kept a friendly, relaxed, efficient attitude. They made not one mistake with fourteen dinners on four separate checks. Great people at this place.

I really think this place gets 3.5 stars, but I can't round up to the 4th. Service was pretty good, but nothing particularly special. And the food, well, it's pretty good as well. So that really leaves it at 3 stars. But the fact that it does do what it does best for Kirkwood, gets it the extra .5 stars. So the food. It's not particularly inspired Mexican, it's kinda-Mexican food. But it does taste pretty good. I wouldn't quite compare it to Holy Taco.

Elmyriachi just opened a week ago, and already I've been twice and I plan to go weekly. I'm just so excited Elmyriachi is here! Elmyriachi is the larger sister restaurant to it's original Elmyr in little five. Elmyr is a smokey dive burrito bar. Elmyriachi is more of a family friendly restaurant that has a bar at night. Inside is smoke free, patio is smoking though. Lots of high chairs, childrens menu, etc. Service is friendly and while they have been slammed by the initial response and gotten backed up, they've handled everything with a smile, which I can appreciate. The margaritas are delicious. My favorite menu item from Elmyr is on the menu at Elmyriachi, the chicken Thai burrito! LOVE! The Jimmy mucho burrito is new and it's also awesome! Guacamole is awesome, although if you order add guac to your burrito, they just bring you the $4 cup of guac you get with chips as an appetizer. Beer selection on tap and bottled is also nice. HUGE patio, I will partake all summer long. I'm just super excited about this place! Tacos, margaritas and guac on a patio walking distance from my house! YESSSS!!!!! Downtown Kirkwood is getting all grown up! I love it!

In a nut shell the service is very very slow! From ordering to taking the check. The food isn't very good either. The ingredients didn't seem fresh. With so many other great options in Atlanta I would suggest trying another restaurant.

Spent some time on the patio in this cute little spot in Kirkwood. They had a TV and ceiling fans. Folks were happily watching World Cup soccer, but I don't think the ceiling fans were doing too much good in the 90 degree heat. I had a jalapeno margarita which was quite tasty with a little bite. Chips and queso were also good. I wasn't overly impressed with the burrito I shared with my companion, but he enjoyed it. I'm really not a burrito person I guess. Service was laid back and friendly, if not a smidge too slow at times. Overall, I enjoyed and would return.

Having just returned from San Diego I had a huge hankering for a burrito and this was just the spot. While their offerings are more on the creative side rather than the traditional options of chicken, carne asada, beef, etc. options it was still very good and a LOT of burrito- it was basically 3 meals for me (take THAT taco bell!). The only downside that I didn't care for was that they charged for chips and salsa. That's so tacky! The chips, however, were pretty good.

I was a bit underwhelmed with Elmyriachi. The service was outstanding and not pretentious as it very well could have been considering the hipster location in Kirkwood. That was about as far as it got though. The general vibe from the patrons and the bland food killed it for me. That's unfortunate because I love the original Elmyr and hoped I would get a similar quality of food. Had I gotten that, I would have likely ignored the walking/talking contradictions like I normally do.

I have visited Elmyriachi twice now, once for lunch and then for dinner. It's low-road slutty Mex and overpriced. The patio is nice, but not exceptional relative to numerous competitors in the area, and ultimately those outdoor environs are the only element of our experience that I can recommend. Most recently the wife and I had dinner on a lovely fall evening. She thought the chimichanga was lackluster, the guac flat out bad ("totally bland"), and that the refried beans tasted--quite bizarrely--like soap. My fish tacos were mediocre and lacked flavor and texture (how about a little salt and citrus at the very least), though I did appreciate the slightly charred tortilla. Still, I'm reaching for any kind of praise at all. At $10 for two tacos and a meager portion of turdy rice and beans I expected better. Also, if you're going to charge $5 for chips and salsa at a regular ole uninspired Mex place like this, which seems to be a cheapfuck trend sweeping across our fine city, then they had better be damned good. And these were not even close. The salsa was very watery, to the point that it was impossible to construct a tasty bite without the whole affair flowing right off the chip before it could score a win in my taste hole. Disappointing. Finally, their 'elmyrita', the cheap house margarita, was mostly ice and sour mix with a lean booze factor. I've had much better in the neighborhood. At $5 per glass and $17 for a pitcher it's comparatively cheap, but the quality isn't there. Perhaps the pricier bespoke margaritas are a swervier, tastier quaff, but at that pricepoint I'll go to a Mezcalitos or Holy Taco, where the food is much better and the drinks are always on-point, if not exactly a bargain. Actually, both those places are somewhat overpriced as well (save for Wednesdays, when Holy Taco has 1/2 price ritas), but for consistency in South Atlanta they're tops. If you want the absolute best glitzy Mex in Atlanta go to Bone Garden. Altogether I was underwhelmed. My partner and I also both had pretty gnarly stomachaches after this meal; not food poisonIng type shit exactly, but a noticeable and bubbly gastrointestinal revolt. If I was a Kirkwoodian I might give it another try, but at even a 12 minute drive fuck this joint.

I don't go to Kirkwood much, but that will change after today's visit to Elmiriachi. I had the green burrito, which is kind of cheating because that's what I get at Elmyr, but I had a craving. It was good. So good. Great patio, no smoking inside, produce is fresh from the farmers market and deliciously grilled. All around pleasant experience. I'll definitely be back.

Had a good experience eating here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. My nephew and I were in the neighborhood and I decided to introduce him to a delicious burrito. He'd never had one! There was a short wait for patio seating. Maybe 15 mins, so we sat inside. Service was on point, we were greeted in less than a minute. I had the margarita verde which was delicious and flavorful. I also had the green burrito also very good yet spicier than I had expected. Didn't order everything green on purpose lol. Nephew had the fajito burrito. Almost ate the entire thing so I assume it was good. They are large burritos; I couldn't eat the whole thing. Chips and salsa was just right. Chips weren't overly salted and the salsa was chunky and fresh just how it should be.

Had a great first visit to Elmyriachi with a group of friends and really enjoyed it. Started with the Queso con Carne, chips and guacamole, all of which were very good. Based on a friend's rec, I also had the crispy chicken tacos (very good!) and also ordered the steak quesadilla, which was also very good. I don't see it on the current menu, so maybe it's an unofficial dessert - but ask about the Choco Taco. A handmade spoof on the classic ice cream truck treat, they only make a certain amount each week and when they are gone, they are gone. Great patio for a sunny day, but now that it's getting colder - wonder if they have heaters or if the inside seating is only available.

I moved into the neighborhood about a month ago and have been to Elmyriachi at least twice a week since then. It's everything I love about its sister restaurant, El Myr, without the filth. It also has an amazing patio, great cocktail list and even more delicious food options. I got the chimichurri tacos and was whelmed- not overwhelmed or underwhelmed. But just... you know. The chimichanga is my staple- get it with red and green sauces and they put it on so it looks like the Mexican flag. Adorable AND delicious. The taqmpiqueno burrito is offensively good. I get angry at how good it is. The guac is full of win. The real winner here is my wallet. They have the famous El Myr house margarita, which is strong but doesn't taste like someone took some crappy tequila and mixed it with crappy sour mix. It tastes like tequila I'd be ok with drinking by itself mixed with a host of other delicious things to make a tangy & delicious cocktail. Service can be spotty, but I've never felt like I was totally forgotten or ignored. Give it a try if you're in the 'hood.

As others have stated - this place has a great patio! We walked inside and the music was pretty loud. There was an employee rolling silverware that told us to see the host if we wanted to sit outside. We stood for a bit before a host/hostess made themselves known. Ordered chips, guac and drinks. Guac didn't have any flavor and was smooth vs chunky. My "organic" margarita didn't even fill the glass. :-( Fiance & I both thought the food "ok". He had asked for something to be left off of his burrito and it came out covered, but he was able to scrape it off. The next time our waiter came over - he saw the pile of rejected topping and didn't say a word. Our waiter seemed pretty attentive (except for the above miss).

Thai Burrito or Fish Tacos are verified wonderful! We had mixed feelings last summer but after being drawn back time after time we are really liking ElMyriachi. Always busy so grab one of their well rounded draft selections. Most times they have just what I want and then some! Patio is devine in April! See you there!

AWESOME neighborhood Mexican spot. Great local servers that are on their A-game and give great recommendations to those of us that want to eat everything on the menu. My fave: Chimichurri tacos. Can't. Go. Wrong. They are so flavorful with a pop of spice at the end. Their chips and queso/salsa are delish too. Portions are HUGE so you won't leave there hungry. Not exactly authentic Mexican but one of the better "Americanized" Mexican joints I've been to. One flaw: they don't carry Dos Equis Lager, which is my go-to drink when I'm devouring some tasty tacos... Oh well, you can't win em all!

No question this is the most mediocre Mexican food going. I so wanted to feel differently and have had 5 visits here since it is close to my home trying to have that one great moment. Dare to dream. The corn tastes frozen and it only goes downhill from there.

Service is always good when I come here, food is awesome as well. I usually get the taco salad in the fried shell but the last time I went I tried the quesadilla w/ brisket (((((Heaven))))). The price is pretty good the taco salad is around $7 and the quesadilla is around $9. They bathrooms are really clean, I never seem to catch it in a mess. When it first opened I recall it being packed and having a longer than normal wait time but I guess now the excitement has died down a bit. Price, food, service and cleanliness I give all 5's!

5 stars for the food, 2.5 for the service. I love the wide range of vegetarian options at this place- I had the burrito with barbecue sauce on top with tofu and it was incredible! My husband had the chimichanga with chicken and seemed pleased. Waylon was our server and he was underwhelming. He rarely visited our table, never asked if we wanted a second cocktail, and dropped our check before asking if we wanted/needed anything else or if dessert was on our radar. I guess we will go to Morelli's! All in all, I'd recommend people give this spot a try but they need to work on service of they hope to have staying power.

I'm writing this after my second visit. The first time we went it was closer to the opening day and on a weekend, which was an idiot move on my part. Second time was on a Wednesday night, 7ish. It was still really busy. Firstly, the side door should so glaringly be used as the front door. I cannot be the only dumbass who thinks this. It's awkward to go through the patio and think that the front door is actually the door between the patio and the restaurant, among a mess of server drinks, bus tubs, and rags to wipe the tables. Eh. We sat inside at a high top against the window to the patio and the aforementioned server drinks/bus tub mess. The whole time we saw servers scraping leftovers into the trash... Eh. There just shouldn't be a table there. It is SO LOUD inside. SO. LOUD. And there are KIDS EVERYWHERE. We sat around for a while before being greeted by a pleasant dude. He was a good server. I think his name is Wes. The fish tacos (with mahi) were awesomeeeee and apparently the crispy tacos are the jam, too. You can't get crispy tacos at Elmyr, so that part is cool. The drinks were strong and well-made. The cheese dip was good (when is it not?) but I think it's a little silly to pay $2 for chips and another $3.50 for cheese dip. Whatev. I'll do it again. I'll go back and sit on the patio, but the interior is a bit crowded and loud. It is nice, though, to eat Elmyr and not smell like an ashtray.

Kirkwood has been watching and waiting for this place to open for a year. We tried it out last night, and it did not disappoint! At our request, they were kind enough to bring us a couple of flour tortillas to keep our toddlers from going crazy while we waited for our table. Our server was awesome, especially considering how crazy busy it was with Mother's Day traffic and folks eager to try it. The food came out a bit slowly, but they made us happy with a free salsa sampler and an extra pitcher of margaritas. The tofu chimichanga was really yummy. We're glad they have several veggie options. My only suggestion is that they eventually get some sun shades for the west side of the patio. It was pretty hot in the late evening sun. Maybe that will happen in time. If you are short of patience, wait a little while to give it a try so the crowds will die down a little.

My wife and I have been going to Elmyr since they opened and love it, but after having kids we were effectively banned since nobody under 18 is allowed since it's a "smoking" restaurant (bar). So when I heard several people saying that they were opening "a family friendly version" we could not wait. However, permitting smoking on the patio and not opening until noon on weekdays for lunch are strikes 1 and 2 for earning that "family" title. I guess we will give them another chance in a few months after they shake off the opening problems (hopefully) and start opening at 11am.

Our overall experience here was average. The weather was threatening rain so we decided to sit inside, but after walking in and trying to carry on a conversation, we found it impossible without yelling. The acoustics were terrible and the music up way too loud! I admit this can be a good thing when you have small kids and don't want to bother others when they inevitably start screaming (cause you could never hear it over the din in this place). But this night I wanted be able to have a conversation with my husband. Maybe this is a place for large boisterous groups rather than a date place. Long story short, we moved outside onto the patio which was quite nice, and lucky break, it didn't rain after all! The service was friendly, fast and very helpful. Maybe they've upped their game after getting bad reviews about service, but I can't complain there at all. The food was just okay. The chips cost extra, so does the salsa. And it wasn't anything to write home about. I like LaFonda's salsa much better. The taco's were not bad, but not great either. Maybe I need to give them a second chance and order something else.

The great company and nice patio account for the generous 3 stars. I will add as a disclaimer that this review is based on my first time and I do believe all places deserve a second chance...well maybe not all. Chips and guac- mediocre/strangest guac I've tasted in awhile. It wasn't a BAD thing necessarily, just odd. The texture wasn't as full as I like my guac to be, but rather mushy like paste. A bottle of Newcastle- can't go wrong there! God save the Queen! Pork tacos- comes with 2 tacos and a surprise side of beans and rice. I'm sure it was mentioned on the menu, but it was a surprise to me when I got it! The rice and beans weren't bad, but again like the guac, the texture of the beans weren't as full as I would've desired. The tacos were...not memorable. That's actually what comes to mind right now, nothing. They weren't bad, but they weren't great either. The corn tortillas didn't have the grainy/almost earthy taste I would've liked, the sauce, pickled onions, and radish were a strange combination. I was starving, but didn't end up completely finishing anything I ordered (the chips and guac were shared, mind you). This is a place I would really like to like, but I can't say that I do right now. However, I will be the first to admit that I will happily and hopefully, eat my words in the future whenever I try this place again.

Knowing this place was highly anticipated in our neighborhood, I decided to wait a few weeks after the opening and go on a Sunday night. Parking is easy if you're driving, but we walked. My friends and I were able to sit on the patio right away and received prompt service from our waitress. I love the ambiance of the patio. Seems like a great place to hang out all evening. Smoking is allowed on the patio, but I personally don't mind it and didn't even notice it when we were there. I enjoyed some delicious shrimp tacos and an elderflower cocktail. I thought the beans were a little runny, but not terribly offensive. I'm looking forward to spending many afternoons/evenings on the patio this summer. Elmyriachi is a welcome replacement for Kirkwood's dilapidated Mrs. Winners building. Kudos to them for taking a chance in a lesser developed neighborhood like Kirkwood.

Love this place. Totally addicted to the steak tacos verde. I crave it every week. Also hooked on the chips and bean dip. Great flavors and you can tell they use high quality ingredients. After my bitter disappointment last Sunday at Superica, I'm thrilled to be having a fantastic lunch at El Myraichi. Love the patio, great laid back vibe. They never disappoint.

The best patio in Atlanta. Had I not seen it with my own eyes, I would never believe that this place used to be a Mrs. Winners. They did an amazing job transforming the space. The drinks are always delicious. I really liked the crispy tacos with turkey, but my favorites are the smoked tacos with pork. Also, they do soft corn tortillas that don't fall apart on you which is a major win in my book. The only difficulty with this place is parking. They're just so darn popular that you're more than likely going to need to find street parking which isn't too difficult in Kirkwood.

  • Michelle C.

The area is super cute. My favorite thing on the menu had to have been the salsa sampler. The pico de gayo was really good but it is kind of hard to go wrong with that. I really like that there is an outdoor patio and its perfect for a large sized group. I ordered the chimmichurri tacos. They were just okay to under average. I was not a fan of the chimmichurri sauce because it was a little too sour for my taste. The rice and black beans were super salty. They were definitely too generous on the salt and I love salty food. I think this restaurant is more of a trendy place to grab some drinks with friends. The food is pretty cheap and they have a full bar. Grab some tequila and order some appetizers and munch on!

We have been waiting for a while for this place to open. I love the food at Elmyr but, living in Kirkwood, it is awesome to be able to walk to Elmyriachi and the patio will be great in the summer. I hope that most of the issues are, as others said, growing pains. The portions are a bit small and the prices a bit high but not terrible. My major complaint is that my tacos were super dry and there was no hot sauce on the tables nor did any of the dishes come with the deliciously hot salsa verde that I love from Elmyr and always order extra of. The beans and rice accompanying the tacos were unnecessary and I would have preferred an option to pay a couple dollars less just for tacos with the option of adding beans and rice if you prefer. The strange sort of ambient jazz music was a little off-putting as well, it would have been nice to have something a bit more upbeat. I am definitely going to be returning but I sincerely hope that over the next few months they work out a few of their kinks.

I'll come back sometime for a revised review. It's never really fair to review a joint right after it's opened. Our first concern was stopping by the Tuesday after opening to discover that they were closed for "restocking" according to a sign. I would have expected better planning from folks who are already running a successful beanery. We decided to give it another shot late on a Saturday afternoon after spending some time at the Kirkwood Spring Fling. It was just starting to get busy for the evening. The cocktails were outstanding; I loved their take on the Old Fashioned and The LG really dug her premium 'rita. There is a nice selection of draft beers. The food was fine. Since we had hit a couple of food trucks at the street festival, we weren't starving so my wife and I split a steak burrito. They were nice enough to put it on two plates without us asking and without upcharging for it. The food is just like what you get at Elmyr, tasty, filling, and affordable. The sides of rice and beans unfortunately came to the table closer to luke warm than hot. The patio is wonderful, and the place should be successful based on it alone. I won't likely use it much anymore, however, because smoking is permitted. There's also too damned many kids for this grumpy old empty nester's liking, at least early in the day.

Before a night in Edgewood, some friends and I decided to go to Elmyriachi. The first thing I noticed was the awesome patio. It's large and spacious and would be a great place to hang out over a good meal and adult beverages. I ordered the Jimmy Mucho burrito and it was pretty tasty. We also got the house-made chips with the salsa sampler and guac. Overall, everything was just OK. It wasn't a bad meal, but it also wasn't something that I would crave. However, I think the overall vibe, outdoor patio, and cool neighborhood would justify another visit. Oh, and the bartender recommended a great tequila for us :)

Drinks and bartender were great, but that was where anything good about the place ended. Mainly, it was the waiter we had who screwed up any chances of me returning here. Took him a while to get our order for appetizers and granted, it was a busy Friday night. However, while we were waiting for him to come back, which took 20 minutes, he found time to chug a beer with a nearby table and talk to them for a few minutes. Finally comes back around after one member of our party had to leave because he was taking too long, gets our order, and doesn't return for another 20 minutes. Food tasted good, nothing too spectacular, but good. It did make 3 of us a little sick the next day though.

Well to start wasn't a real mexican restaurant like I am use to ask for a texas margarita and they had there own version of one that was not very good. But the food was point on, had the steak taco verde that was off the hook. Good service the place was nice and clean good stop.

Hipster dining has arrived in Edgewood. The music is loud, the service is uneven and sometimes painfully slow, the patio is crowded, but the food is fresh and filling. Not perfect (guacamole a little bland; smoked pork a bit fatty for me), but generally good, flavorful, modern Tex-Mex. Meats are hormone- and antibiotic-free, and there are plenty of good vegetarian options.

Best Mexican in town! The baha tacos are incredible and the margaritas are pint size!

Went here on opening weekend so it was a mad house. Service was very slow , took forever to get our food. Hopefully they fixed the kinks! The food was ok ... Nothing too impressive. The margaritas were good.

I had the Baja Shrimp Taco dinner an it was out of this world good! As someone who is also conscious about his weight, I loved that everything seemed to be portioned perfectly. Great quality food. It's a little cramped inside and loud hence the 4 stat rating. Well shoot for the patio next time.

So excited to have El Myr's sister restaurant in the neighborhood! Patio is beautiful, and we've only had fantastic service. I believe some of the negative posts below were written shortly after they opened, and I hope those who had a bad experience will give it another try. It's worth it!

The atmosphere is great. Lovely dark and romantic theme with the perfect location for a quiet outdoor meal. The drinks, good. The food, overpriced but still good. The service, awful. If you get Uma you should ask for another server. Slow, outright absent rather. 20 minutes to get the payment after dropping the check. Outright ignored us. A shame for a new restaurant with such potential to employ such a waitress.

Bad food and bad service. Pretty disappointed. I was really hoping for some good Mexican close to the house but it was not to be. If you live in the area you're better off driving to taqueria del sol and waiting in line.

Oh my goodness. I had the ranchero burrito and it was spectacular. Amazing alcohol selection and very good bartender. Friendly staff. Great atmosphere. Fast order to table time. The music is awesome. I just loved everything about this place. Our server, Eric, is super fast and friendly. Only downer is too many kids. But that's not the restaurant's fault. This place is a gem! Definitely will be returning :)

Beth & I went here with our friends Sherri & Lee. They said the wait may be a little long but we got seated before we finished the Margaritas that we bought at the bar. By the way, the house margarita was pretty good. I thought that the food was good. The crowd seems to be pretty young and there was a plethora of tattoos on many bodies. We even had a gal stop at our table to tell us she was glad that she & her husband weren't the only old people in the place. Overall we would probably go back if the wait is not too long. There are several other Mexican restaurants in the Decatur area that we need to visit.

Service was good, great patio. Had a kick ass jalapeno margarita(best in town) and ground turkey tacos in a hard shell. Recommend both of those! Place was packed on the patio. Very casual, family friendly. I am going back for that margarita.

This place was pretty awesome. I came with a group of 20 of my co workers and the service and everything else was spot on. We even had to make some changes because we had a guy coming in for a mini class for my employees and the staff there turned the music down and accommodated us with whatever we needed. Definitely had a great time. I had the Thai burrito and it was good but not as good as raging burrito but we still had an awesome time and the prices we're great! I'll definitely be back here when I'm in the area!

My husband and I moved from San Diego to Atlanta and have been searching for the perfect breakfast burrito. This place has it. They don't post their separate brunch menu online-- but it is fantastic. Not to mention you can sit on their large outdoor patio while you drink a mimosa and eat ur meal. Never a wait (even on a Sunday morning) and the service was great to. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. (Brunch only served sat/sun)

I tried to eat here three different times and wasn't able to get a table in a time frame my stomach would tolerate. (I have a bad habit of deciding I'm hungry about 10 minutes before hangry sets in. ) Anyway, today I saw on Facebook that they were serving tamales by the former Asada chef Mikel Hosp. At that point, I decided I didn't care how long I had to wait and went back for attempt #4. Luckily the wait wasn't long this time. I ordered the vegetable tamales and they were everything I remembered (they aren't on the menu, so check their FB page for availability). Spiced perfectly with seasonal veggies and Polenta so creamy it doesn't seem possible. My table mates both had the chimichurri taco plates and judging from the way they both shut up and ate, (one ordered a second plate) they must have been as good as what I had. Our only complaint was a waitress who seemed kind of new - or was having a very distracted day. Her fellow servers were very helpful, however. Run, don't walk to this Kirkwood gem. Your stomach will thank you.

GREAT addition to the awesome lineup of Kirkwood eateries. Nearly perfect patio, fantastic craft beer line-up and a to-die-for burrito called the Jimmy Mucho. Get it with smoked pork. Mixed green salad with lime cilantro vinaigrette is highly recommended too.

My review is simple. The food just isn't good. My chicken taco had a grey-ish hue and the flavor was absent. I couldn't even finish the meal because I spent the entire time trying to figure out why the chicken looked so weird. I thought it was strange to have salt shakers on the table of a Mexican restaurant but you will have to make good use of them. I gave 2-stars because the waiter was nice.

Ordered the fajaito burrito with steak. It was ok, it had more beans and rice than steak. The Elmira margarita was good but kinda limey. First time I have been charged an excise tax in a restaurant. Over all food was good but to pricey for lunch. I probably won't be back. By the way, don't be in a hurry, the service was really slow.

The food here was really good. I like the atmosphere much better the El Myr. Huge patio is great for hanging out. We ordered ranchero burrito turkey chorizo, hatch green chiles, rice and pinto beans, topped with guajillo sauce, queso fresco, lettuce, sour cream, and guacamole also gringo burrito chicken, monterey jack cheese, pico, pinto beans, and rice. We both wanted to try so the waiter split them in half and served us half of each. He got tipped well. Will definitely be back. Didn't go inside.

I loved Elmyriachi! Tacosverde were delicious, chimichanga was delicious, guacamole was amazing and served a decent amount, jalapeño margarita spice sneaks up on you but it's really good, elderflower margarita was a bit too sweet. The price was right and it wasn't too noisy though I went on a Sunday afternoon.

Yum! had there salad and a taco plus the bartender recommended a delicious organic, margarita that was excellent. Just wish they would stay open for late night drinks and snacks! For a ladies night out on Tuesday we showed up at 10:40 and they were closing. The neighborhood needs a cool place to hang late.

We ate here on the second day they were open and we knew going in not to expect the trains to be running on time. I had been at El Myr the previous night and the owner was running into El Myr picking up stuff they forgot (flatware, cups, jalapeno tequila, etc) so we knew we were likely to experience their growing pains and we were right so I won't focus on the service but just the food. I ordered the Tampiqueno burrito and my daughter ordered the Ranchero burrito. We are both huge fans of the El Myr burritos and high hopes that this would be the second coming of that level of taste but it wasn't quite there for us. Between the two burritos we both liked the Tampiqueno best. It was rich, flavorful and satisfying with the caramelized onions really standing out (in a good way). The Ranchero was less flavorful, not at all bad, but just not earth shattering as we had hoped. We also ordered the guacamole and chips and after a little organizational snafu, got our guac. It was not as good as what they serve at El Myr and many other places around ATL. All in all, I hope that as they work the kinks out of the front of the house service wise, they will also refine and fine tune the food so that all the fans of El Myr will have another option within reasonable driving distance. One other comment is that about half the outside seating is not under the large overhang and would not be usable if raining. As they weather was a little sketchy when we were there, we wondered what they would do for anyone seated out in the open if it started raining. I will go back in hopes that they will pull everything together for less dive bar environment with great food.

3.5 -- the chimichurri steak tacos were excellent, however the margaritas weren't even close to delicious (we had both the house margarita and the organic margarita, and they just plain weren't good). The guacamole was disappointing...almost flavorless. I love the location and the porch, and maybe they had lots of delicious food that we didn't try, but I doubt I'll be going back anytime soon.

I wanted to try this place after reading a CL review. Finally got a chance to visit last night and enjoyed it. We started out at the bar with a Pomegrante margarita and mojito. Both drinks were fine and the bar staff was friendly. Chips and queso were good, as well as the salsa. I ordered the chicken chimichanga, which was huge. It wasn't great, but only because I didn't enjoy the chiles...somehow I missed that in the list of ingredients. My friend ordered shrimp tacos and said it was very tasty. The atmosphere is nice, as one would expect in the Kirkwood area. Plenty of tattoos and piercings which makes for a fun people watching experience. We had great service, good food, and fun conversation.

Awesome place very good service. Loved the burrito and atmosphere. The margaritas were just right. Everything fit for the location and price. Very happy with our visit. I'll be back several more times.

Elmyriachi is definitely the best restaurant in Kirkwood. They have a unique menu (as tex-mex goes anyway) and the food is all delicious. They have a few good house cocktails. In particular we like the Out of Fashion. Their beer selection is about average. We really like the patio and they are very dog friendly. My one gripe is the service. There are a couple of servers that are really good. One in particular comes to mind who is excellent. Unfortunately most of the rest have the hipster attitude which is unfriendly and annoyed.

Waiter forgot out chip order. Waited 10 minutes before we got our own server. Everyone seemed in a bad mood or clueless. Never going back even though I liked the tacos. They weren't even that busy like 6 tables.

Attitude! The hostess scowled and was rude from the moment we arrived. Every server there seemed unhappy. We ordered a drink at the bar with multiple four tops open that...when we asked the hostess she had "forgotten" were in the restaurant. We drank our drinks at the table she finally seated is at and not one person came up to take our order or see how we were... So we left. Never to return.

We ordered dinner TO-GO, got home only to discover items were missing and portions skimpy. Rip-off. Hope the kitchen and service improve...

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
