I like the look of this restaurant--white tile, dark browns, and wood. It's definitely a pretty, mid-century modern space, like Cakes and Ale or No 246 in Decatur. They offer complimentary valet parking for 2 hours, so parking is easy. I had 2 refreshing gin cocktails, and I could imagine going back to have drinks at the bar if I lived near by. I wasn't impressed with the food. We shared lamb ribs (good), grilled peaches (really good), and hushpuppies (okay). I had the shrimp entree, which was both too spicy and too little protein for $28. I would have liked the dish more had they allowed for a contrast of flavors--spicy succotash, mild sweet potatoes, and crisp okra? I ended up spending about $70 for drinks, apps, and dinner. I didn't feel it was worth it.

Hmmmm. Well this wasn't what I expected. My coworkers and I had been dying to do a Friday Happy Hour or lunch here. Such a cool looking place. We came in around 1 on Friday after an event and said we wanted to do drinks and lunch. We weren't allowed on the roof (during Friday afternoon on a sunny day?!) and we didn't get drinks bc the waiter never took our drink order. We all just drank water. They missed out on probably $50-$75 in drink orders. The food was super mediocre. And the service was just strange. The waiter wasn't attentive and said weird things like, "well, our fries are really good" when I asked for a side salad instead of fries. Like, ok dude. I wanna salad. Get off me.

Ambiance = coolness! Nice, upscale, and food prices were reasonable for the area. Parking looks tough but there is the valet option. I opted for patio seating to people-watch and enjoy the weather. I got the mussels. They were OK. Nothing unique. There was a generous portion. I expected flavorful broth, maybe with lemongrass like other places that I've tried with fantastic broth. Needless to say, I didn't eat much of the broth. It came with toast that tasted disappointingly borderline stale. The elote (corn) is interesting. It's creamy and has the natural sweetness of the corn. Quantity of the $5 appetizer is large. I would recommend this if you've never had rosemary elote before. Service is polite. 4 stars mostly for ambiance, neighborhood, and potential of the food. I would come back with a group to try more items.

I went with party of 9. Drinks upstairs at the garden first. It is a great space. We loved it on a brisk Sat night. Drink #1 is suprisingly good. in the restaurant downstairs I give the food 3 out of 5. But the staff is very pleasant and worked hard to make us happy. Definitely go for a drink upstairs. The food downstairs is worth s ticking around for. Cheers

We were sooo bummed out that they didn't have popcorn ice cream when I went back :/. That was the reason we had gone out of our way to eat at Community Smith. Next time I'll call in advance and ask if they have it. Service and other food was still good.

UM HOLY MOTHER OF ... That BURGER! I was NOT expecting the burger to be that good here! Came for a HH for work and they had great cocktails and a wonderful rooftop patio. We ended up going downstairs and eating and I got the burger. It was really surprisingly very tasty! Not a lot of fancy schamncy on this burger but hey who needs all of that! They had multiple other items on the menu and the group I was with seemed to really enjoy their food. The inside is super nice as well! If not for the burger def. come and enjoy a cocktail on the rooftop patio! Gorgeous!!

I was excited to have drinks at the The Garden at Community Smith which "is perched atop Community Smith with a fantastic city view". Unfortunately it doesn't make the grade. There is a wall present on the back of the restaurant which hides any real view of the city and its really only 3 floors above W Peachtree. That being said the bartender was great , very friendly but when asked for a menu we were told they served no food, except for a grill for sausages and because of the bad weather they had no food services that day. Moreover there was also a menu "but it was still in the works" with no mention of draft beers. This was semi perplexing because the website clearly states that The Garden at Community Smith is "a modern bar and grill, The Garden serves small-plates and casual outtakes from the Community Smith menu, plus local and craft beers on draught." Moving on the bartender used his creativity to put forth two cocktails that were extremely solid, until I saw the $25 dollar check. The last matter to note is that the Garden has two large fire places but they leaked gas!! We were actually afraid to be near them. Two or three groups found the same problem and shuffled around the "roof" trying to avoid the smell and get fresh air. As a local I went there of my own volition but definitely will not be repeating. There are tons of local drink and food spots that are much better options within walking distance to the Garden. Grain is literally across the street on the same side of the street and they serve dollar oysters 4-6 and solid cocktails. In the land of southern foodies I would simply advise you take your money and group elsewhere. In midtown there are many better options

Nice wine list, mussels were delicious and could be eaten as a meal, the Beef Bavette was divine. Nice addition to midtown Atlanta!

Try the chorizo frittata or the pancakes. Both are delicious. They also seem to have smaller breakfast potatoes now, which I personally prefer. All-in-all, this is one of the best new brunch places I've tried in a while.

We arrived not knowing what to expect and we left very happy! The rolls & the crab hush puppies were delish, but the real home run were the mussels!!!! Absolute perfection!!!!!! The best I've had in years!!! I decided to go with tapas themed menu... I ordered two more apps and was not disappointed. My salmon tartare and pork belly were on point! The only app I didn't like was the lamb ribs, they were too fatty. My friend ordered the pork chop and it was juicy and flavorful. He savored every last morsel!! The only big let down was dessert, they weren't bad but they didn't wow us like I would've expected!!! We ordered the sticky toffee cake and the popcorn ice cream. Last but not least I loved the streamlined modern decor but my fave was the beautiful rooftop bar!!!! Definitely a must next time I go there. I can't wait to be back and try their brunch.

I was very impressed with both dishes ordered for a lunch. They included a steak dish that came with mushrooms under the medium-cooked meat, and a grilled chicken dish with some brussel sprouts. The latter had a distinctive flavor and was particularly enjoyable. It's not cheap, but the quality is there.

Service was phenomenal - host and waiter were super nice even before we told them we were there for a bachelorette dinner. Got the mussels, but probably wouldn't get them again: not too much broth, and there was definitely still sand in a bunch of them. Sides proved to be good portions and two of the girls shared 5 sides as their meals and were full. Most notable was the corn dish. Heard there is a rooftop area, plus they just started brunch service, so will be back to check those out.

Living nearby, I had watched with anticipation as the remodel of this spot progressed, and looked forward to trying it and the "Garden," the rooftop bar at the Community Smith. When news of their grand re-opening in March hit, I was even more excited to read their press which described "a fantastic city view...serving as Midtown Atlanta's premiere outdoor dining destination...serving small-plates and casual outtakes from the Community Smith menu, plus local and craft beers on draught." All in all, it sounded like a winner. Sadly, upon our first visit a solid month after their re-opening, we found their own description to be completely untrue. First, there is no city view at all, becasue they're only on the second floor of the hotel. The beautiful firepits were broken and leaking gas fumes throughout the patio area. They also serve no food from the Community Smith menu at all. Our served informed us that when the weather is nice, they'll have a grill and serve grilled sausages. However, because it had rained earlier in the day upon our visit, the grill was closed and we were not able to order any food. When we inquired as to a cocktail menu or their specialties, we were told there was no cocktail menu ("still in the works") and the bartender made no mention of the "local and craft beers on draught" as promised on their website. The bartender made us some solid whiskey based cocktails, but at over $12 each, you'd be better served going next door to Grain where the atmosphere, food, service, and drinks are better and the prices are lower. I was looking forward to having another go-to spot so close to home, but the Garden at Community Smith is a total miss.

This review is for the Garden. Boast of handcrafted drinks yet my "#5" was poured from a container o_O Bartender was attentive enough to notice I didn't like my drink and offered another drink that was phenomenal! Nice summer, relaxed vibe.

We snacked on a New York strip and I found it very average. Cooked to the correct temperature, but I didn't find the flavor, char, or cut of meat to be anything beyond average. The side of cauliflower was hella good though. Sometimes good restaurants do things that make absolutely no sense. In Community Smith's case, they charge $4 for club soda. When I'm spending almost $100 on cocktails it feels a little nickel and dimey to charge each of us $4 for club soda. Keep it classy and either remove that cost or keep it to a reasonable $2 and I won't have to make petty comments like this. The cocktails we had were simple enough (old fashioneds and moscow mules) so I can't comment on how well they make more interesting drinks. I really like the indoor decor and will have to check out their roof deck as well. All in all I'm much happier here than any of the previous restaurants that lived here. Hope they can stick around more than a year.

Went here on a Sunday evening with my girl and it was dead quiet for such a large place. Do people just not go out on Sunday nights in Atlanta? The atmosphere was pretty trendy with dim lights, tile & wood surfaces, and lots of glass. Even a cool fox sculpture made of utensils! Service was good too with the waitress rattling off a very detailed list of recommendations when requested. We decided on the crispy squid, roasted cauliflower, and steak. All were incredible! We also got a Manhattan (sadly the best drink they had on the drinks menu) and a beer. My only gripe with this place. But it's a big one for a place that has a separate bar above it. Why not have better drinks downstairs too?

Had no idea the restaurant Briza had changed until I came to write this review (guess that means I must visit again soon, right?) We went on a Sunday afternoon a.k.a. brunch time...and we were the only ones there. I thought this was either the perfect day or a sign that this place may not be all that great. Fortunately, it was more of the former than the latter. I'm big on decor, and Briza is too cute! Although I didn't really enjoy the smoked salmon sandwich I ordered (not because it wasn't good, more like I should stick to eating my smoked salmon on sushi rolls like I'm used to), everyone else's meals looked tasty. There were no complaints, and no sharing--which means the food must've tasted as great as it looked. The french fries were yummy, though. Our server was friendly and attentive as well.

Awesome new spot! I really loved the atmosphere. The place has a really great vibe. Menu was equally as wonderful. We decided the smaller appetizer type plates looked so good, that ended up ordering a bunch of those to share instead of a larger plate! The mushrooms and ox tail were out of this world! Ray was who took care of us, and he did a phenomenal job! All of the staff were great, and you can tell they really care about the food. Finished up with delicious pop corn ice cream! Definitely a win! My only concern was that I wish I had been hungrier so I could try more! We will definitely be back!

Blecchh. The atmosphere is artificial, the waitstaff arrogant and unattentive, but really it is the food that will make you wish you had either gone hungry or eaten the little soaps in your hotel room. The chef's style is a mix of traditional blecch (extra goat cheese on my steak, please) and nouveau-blecch (cilantro and, I kid you not, "brined cheese" in my plain green salad). There wasn't enough $6/bottle domestic beer in the place to wash away the flavor of the food.

This brand new restaurant in Midtown should be on the "must visit" list. We really had a wonderful evening. The Ox Tail app was really good. The Trout was de-lic-ious! But another person in our party had Monkfish and it was really tastie too, as were the Lamb Ribs. I didn't have the collard greens but the other 2 in my party said it was really good. From the wine set, I had a Malbec and their Cab. Both very nice. Hats off to the Chef! They also did a wonderful job on the design of the restaurant. Really great and comfortable. Location is very accessible and easy to get to.

This place has promise. The GF and I decided to come here for a post-Valentine's day brunch this past weekend. Actually, breakfast, because they stop serving at 11. Which is a little disappointing, but oh well. We arrived at about 9:30 and, upon entering, noticed how few people were actually there. Anyone who tries to have breakfast in or around Atlanta knows exactly how much of a rarity that is. We were seated promptly and offered coffee and juice. Note: I don't know what type of coffee they serve (I forgot to ask), but it was very, very good. We decided to order a couple of things so that each of us could get a taste. We went with the chorizo frittata, biscuits and gravy, short stack of pancakes, the banana bread, and a side of bacon. it was a lot of food. Everything was delivered to the table quite promptly (probably about 10-15 minutes after we ordered). Unfortunately, both the biscuits and gravy and the pancakes were lukewarm at best. The gravy for the biscuits was absolutely delicious though - would have been even better if it was actually hot. The banana bread was also excellent and I'd definitely go back for that one again. It was probably the highlight of the meal, which is a little disappointing. And bacon is bacon - really hard to go wrong there. The most disappointing item, however, was the frittata. While it was served fresh and hot (which shouldn't even need to be mentioned), there was a very strange aftertaste. So much so that we each took a bite and then neither of us touched it again. It was served in a little cast iron skillet with a side of potatoes. It was a beautiful dish...I just wish it tasted better. All in all, it was a nice brunch. It was calm and quiet, the decor was beautiful, and the service was prompt. Unfortunately, the food didn't deliver to the level of the rest of the experience. I'm looking forward to trying this place again once they've worked out some of the kinks (they've only been open a couple of weeks).

Wow. This restaurant opened only a few weeks ago, but they've got something good going on. The staff is extremely helpful and attentive, but the food is wonderful. My husband and I decided to treat it like tapas and shared the oxtail toast and crispy squid. The oxtail is served on a single slice of bread which we cut in half. The meet was moist and tender, and the greens on top complimented it nicely. The crispy squid was a very nice size portion. The aioli sauce that was served with it went well. The only thing is that the breading didn't stick as well to the squid as expected, but it was good none the less. For dinner I ordered the lamb shortribs with the rosemary elote. Delicious. The asian style seasoning on the shortribs (which were fall-off-the-bone tender) were amazing. I got three meaty ones served with three deep fried goat cheese balls... or at least that's what they tasted like since they are listed as scallion fritters. I wasn't able to finish them all at dinner, but man do they make good leftovers. The rosemary elote AKA corn with rosemary in a pepper aioli with parmesan cheese was one of my favorite parts of the meal. It was just so good. I can't say too much about the porchetta and turnip greens that the husband ordered. The porchetta was crispy and delicious and the turnip greens were well cooked and pleasantly bitter but not excessively. We rounded dinner off with a latte and cappuccino which were good too. This new and hot restaurant is hot for a reason. You've gotta give it a shot even if it's not for dinner. Apparently their brunch is good!

Reinvented restaurant at the Midtown Renaissance (by Marriott), 866 West Peachtree St. Not Marriott-owned/managed. Went for brunch noonish on a Saturday. Chorizo Frittata was served in a mini cast iron dish, slightly dry but had good flavor with bits of house made chorizo and cheddar baked in, topped with a teaspoonful of pico de gallo and a few small halves of heirloom tomatoes. Order the potatoes well done unless you just want a baked potato. Coffee is dark and hearty. Server recommends French Toast first then pancakes, but has no idea why the restaurant has the name it does. Come on, Sales and Marketing. If you're going to name your restaurant "Community Smith" you better have a pervasive unique story behind it.

The new interior is really nice. The place has gone through a number of owners and chefs. The new management has been in place since Feb 1. 2015. The revised interior is bright and very attractive. The menu card has small dishes and regular main courses with a great set of side dishes. We decided to try a variety of small dishes. We had calamari, duck confit, lamb spareribs, short ribs and asparagus. All the dishes were great looking and came out early The calamari was not really crispy and a bit grainy. When we told the waiter they took it off our bill and was returned the kitchen. The other dishes were very tasty and well prepared. Great good and you really can dig into. The duck confit is almost a Foie Gras very rich and really nice. The lamb was coming off the bones are tasty. The short ribs was awesome. The staff is very attentive and we spoke to the chef and an owner. You get great service and very good food advice. The drink and wine selection is also very good. Overall a major upgrade from the earlier place and excellent food. Certainly going back.

I was recently in town visiting from LA. I used to live in Atlanta and every time I return I seek out new restaurants to try. I heard this restaurant mentioned a lot and thought it was worth a shot. What a waste of time and money. The only good thing about this place was the food. I could go on and on about what was bad but I will keep this short. The wait took forever. I was waiting for a friend who was running late and upon his arrival no host was to be found. He waited and then decided to meet me on the rooftop where I was having a glass of wine while I waited. We went downstairs and still no host. We waited quite a bit before the host returned who told us our table wasn't yet ready. We finally got sat and it took our server about 10 minutes to even greet us! The service just went down hill from there. They were far from busy when we were seated but service was utterly slow and below mediocre. We were there so long that I had to leave to feed my parking meter. When I returned the food arrived and it was quite good. Kudos to the kitchen staff. But the service continued to be horrible. Plus there was inconsistency with my cocktails. I ordered the same drink twice and they didnt taste the same at all. When we were beyond ready for our check the whole front of house staff was missing in action. No one was in sight. We finally paid and I couldn't wait to get the hell out of there. It was $60+ I wish I spent elsewhere despite the food being good. Ha! I said I'd keep this short but this doesn't even include all the details. I'd like to say I'd return just for the food but the service and experience were so horrible, it's not even worth it. There are many other places in Atlanta with great food and excellent service.

The fries were probably the best part. The "chopped lettuce" (aka the salad - which is a perfect example what this electronic pop restaurant is like, naming their food like "fried squid" (calamari) and "yeast balls" (rolls)) was way too overdressed with an overwhelmingly acidy dressing that wasn't cut by any of the other ingredients. The burger was fine- I took off half the bun because it was too much, my mom took off 5 sweet pickles from her half. The rolls were very dry and neither of us finished one, and I found the butter to be sour. Mind you, we both hadn't eaten since earlier this morning and we were both really hangry- the kind where anything would taste fabulous. Service was nice.

I was having the worst trip of my career and here comes community smith to save the day!!! Tiffany Mitchell was an amazing waitress....she went above and beyond. When she found out how bad my stay had been at the attached hotel she and her manager made every effort above and beyond to make my dinner the best it could be!! The executive chef came to thank me for my kind words about his delicious rib eye and it just set my stay at the Renaissance hotel on the right path once again!! Thank you so much for your southern hospitality. ....it's much appreciated!

Came here for post dinner Birthday drinks with my husband. The atmosphere was good, vibe was chill.... But the drinks were horrible to say the least. -My husband's dirty martini was slimy (maybe old olive juice) -my Dark and Stormy had way too much bitters in it. - I took my drink back and got a replacement, but the bartender was eager to make me a "special drink" without first listening to what I wanted. He made a Gin based drink and I don't drink Gin.... Had he not been rushing, he would have heard that. - He made a 2nd replacement drink with Maker's Mark that tasted like brown lime juice. So all in all... I was probably better off ordered a bottled beer. Kinda sucks that the drinks suck cus the rooftop is kinda snazzy. Most likely won't return!

Had a birthday party tonight. We asked our waitor if we could get our cake cut and the servor mentioned there would be a cake cutting fee. He told us not to worry about it. At the the end of the night when we got our tab, they added the cake cutting fee. I thought that was dishonest of them. Also, they wouldn't separate our checks. The food was mediocre at best and the service was, otherwise, decent. My fiance got a burger and I got a chopped salad and quinoa. Bland and unfilling. One star for abiance, another star for the rooftop view. Will not be returning though.

Slow service, sloppy service (no silverware when we sat down, took a while for the server to come over for the first time, coffee cream was left sitting on our outside table from who knows when, server handed me a plate, waited til I took it, then told me it was hot), decent ambience. Saving grace was the food. I had the egg white frittata which was kinda bland, but that's what I get for ordering egg whites. My friend loved his chicken sandwich though and they have good bacon and coffee.

Not the place to go for a hamburger. Obviously, hamburger consumers aren't their target audience... check out the menu. I guess if you really are craving oxtail toast, you don't have a lot of choices. But I dropped in for lunch and wanted something simple. "Say something nice." The renovation of the old heavy Briza space is amazing. Beautifully done, with much more light and a great feel. Very friendly efficient waitstaff (although they outnumbered me 4:1 at my lonely lunch). And the Midtown location is superb. So I was happy until the food arrived. Two flimsy cardboard-thin patties of gristly greyish beef, swimming in grease. Cold limp fries. "Meh" is an overstatement... you'd literally get better food at the Varsity, and save yourself $15 in the process. Maybe the hotel guests from upstairs won't know better, but I don't think Community Smith will get much repeat business from locals. And there are 1300 college kids moving in within two blocks this summer (2015). I predict that this menu will be replaced with something more accessible within a year.

Hilariously bad service! Friendly greeting at the door and all down hill from there. The food was mediocre at best but that is irrelevant. I could not find someone to refill my water, take my order, or give me the check. Poor bus boy had to find a waiter to get me my check. Burger was overcooked and pre made. Offered ketchup but never saw it after I was asked. Will not go back! Connected to the Renaissance hotel which is a shame because I would love to have a good place so close.

Another great experience last night. Started w Crispy Squid. Great flavor and sliced olives were a brilliant add in. Babs ordered the Lamb Stew (not a stew we expected but a great call on her part ). The lamb was tender, tasty, and the sauce /stew base it was cooked in could be a great side dish on its own. Presentation was spot on as well. I had the Community Burger I read about on Yelp. One of best burgers I've ever had. It was like eating Mom's meatloaf and cooked in onions were just like home. We finished off the night w Popcorn ice cream. I know...sounds weird. Should have ordered 2. It's my favorite dessert there. Ashley did a great job taking care of us and Jim the GM stopped by to check on us. This is our new go to place in Midtown. Can't wait to see the rooftop when open in the Spring.

I came here with some friends to collect matchboxes. Yes I said matchboxes because it had a cool art too it. As I walk in I assume this place is going to have food. This place was nicely done. The service was slow for having 5 tables on Sunday evening. The apps were not that great. Oxtail toast that everyone was talking about wasn't even tender. Wild mushrooms, crispy squid, and the bread was bland as their smoke duck. The smoke duck didn't even taste like it was smoked. Honestly the best thing their was their burger.

What a lovely atmosphere, and not to mention the food pairings are incredibly delicious. I had the crispy squid with a side of roasted cauliflower and both were amazing! The best squid I have had in a long time. My boyfriend had the community Smith burger, which came with fries and was very tasty as well. You will definitely get what you pay for. The portions are fair. We will definitely be coming back!

Had an awesome time with family over dinner while I was here. Food was really nice, drinks were awesome, server was knowledgeable and really attentive. Sharing 3 course dinner community style with the fam there wasn't anything I didn't care for, super yum! My favs were oxtail, carrots, ny strip, pork belly, and some sort of popcorn ice cream that has me convinced my new favorite ice cream topping is popcorn.... half off wine bottles didn't hurt either...

The service I just received here was outstanding. Food was also wonderful, I had the French Toast and it was delicious. Pretty sad we didn't get to eat brunch on the rooftop but service and good food definitely made up for it. I sought this place out solely based on menu and the rooftop aspect but I am overall happy on our decision to stop in here. Definitely recommend it

Wow. WOW. This place is a game-changer. I guess I don't usually have very high expectations for "hotel restaurants", but the food here is absolutely incredible. I ended up having both dinner and breakfast at Community Smith and don't regret either of them. Dinner was trout which was excellent, with a flourless chocolate torte that left most of our party speechless. But breakfast was what really blew me out of the water. Community Smith made the BEST biscuits and gravy that I've ever had, ANYWHERE. Any state, any country. Homemade cheddar cheese and chive biscuits, flaky and buttery in the middle and crispy on the outside, smothered in their homemade gravy with bits of sausage and chorizo. Just incredible, and so flavorful. I almost wish I hadn't tried it, because ever since leaving Atlanta, I can taste it every day. I'm almost sad knowing I'll never have biscuits and gravy like that again! Rating is a 4 instead of a 5 because the waitstaff had a bit of an attitude problem each time I interacted with the restaurant (breakfast, lunch, drinks, and a phone call to inquire about their drink menu). The snootiness could be left at the door. If they get their staff's game together, this restaurant has a ton of potential.

Three words: Ox Tail Toast. I had never tried ox tail prior to dining at Community Smith, and boy is it tasty! Seriously, one of the best things I've had in a while. They also have 'Discovery Hour' from 5-6pm every Monday-Thursday. Your chance to try a fun, craft cocktail. Who doesn't love a complimentary cocktail?! Be sure to check them out the next time you're in the area for lunch/dinner!

What a well needed gem! Diverse menu and great spot for haut having a cocktail or coffee. Finally a spot in the Renaissance Hotel which would compete with other major cities around the world - where restaurants are actually in hotels. The chef here is accommodating and inventive - a neighborhood gem and a Sunday brunch also! Well done!

Came here for brunch. I think you can do valet along with the hotel guests, but this seemed like more of a hassle so I just parked on the street. After seeing a picture of their chicken biscuit I knew that's what I would order, but it was the only thing from the online menu that I didn't see on the menu when we got there. Bummer. I ended up just getting two eggs any style which comes with potatoes, a meat, and toast. This seemed like the most filling choice for $15. A bowl of just grits is one of the main offerings and it'll run you $9... The service was fine and the coffee was good. The eggs have some seasoning in them which I really enjoyed. Everything else was average. They were not crowded at all for an early Saturday afternoon. Overall, nothing really stood out that I would need to come back for.

I had heard great things about this place so my expectations may have been inflated. Biscuits and gravy were tasty. Gravy was too thick and too meaty for me. Portion was large. Price $9 reasonable. Atmosphere and service were excellent.

Went to Community Smith with two friends for lunch today and had a great time. I ordered the Mezarita and the short rib sandwich. Both were delicious. The atmosphere and branding of the restaurant was supreme. I absolutely loved the design of all the furniture, lighting, tableware, and decor of the entire restaurant. The tiniest details were well thought out and everything was very clean. The service was great and one employee even offered to take us to the upstairs patio to have a look. It was closed at the time but they open it up at night. The rooftop was amazing. There was a bar, fire pits, and great benches. I will definitely be back for cocktails on the rooftop.

Still some work to be done on this newly reopened establishment. Poorly trained staff, some items unavailable, cold food, and dishes were overall okay.

This place looked so promising, but I left feeling pretty disappointed. I went in for brunch on a Sunday and the food was mediocre and overpriced. The service was good -- we were seated immediately and offered hot coffee within two minutes. Things were looking good -- the coffee was great and the decor and atmosphere had me ready to experience a really good meal. The brunch menu was fairly simple but had a good variety of options (I actually liked the simplicity -- single page, all the classic brunch favorites -- it was a good menu on paper). I thought the prices seemed a bit high -- $14 for a Vegetable Frittata. I figured it had to be good -- full of high quality vegetables and cheese and a hearty portion. It was none of the above. The frittata was served in a small, square cast iron skillet. The last 4-5 bites were completely burned to the bottom and inedible. The only other item on the plate was a pile of cubed potato fries (which were good -- crispy and well seasoned), but they didn't seem to match the plate/style of the restaurant. To further take away from plate elegance and add to "cheapness", there was a side of ketchup served with the meal in a plastic cup. Overall it was pretty disappointing. In my mind, a vegetable frittata should be packed with flavor, color, and texture, especially one that costs $14. I didn't get much out of it other than a small skillet of scrambled eggs. Absolutely not worth $14. Service was pleasant, fast, and attentive throughout the meal and our coffee was refilled promptly and without having to ask. I appreciated that. I'm sad this wasn't better food wise, but maybe brunch just isn't the meal to go for at this place. I'll have to go back for dinner and see if the food is any better. I really want to like this place!

We stopped in for dinner Sunday night before a show at the Fox Theater. I loved the decor of the restaurant - beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. The food was equally impressive. Since we were eating at 5 pm I wasn't overly hungry and ordered two small plates - mussles and mushrooms. Both were fabulous. The mussels were excellently cooked and delicious. The mushrooms were very well cooked and very decedent. My husband ordered the pork shoulder which is was cooked in a tomato based sauce. His leftovers were turned into an excellent pasta w/ the pork shoulder mixed in. Resembled a Sunday Gravy you would find at any good Italian restaurant. I think this place is a gem and will definetly be back!

Some girlfriends and I dined on the terrace one evening. It was a great location, beautifully set up. Would be a spectacular spot for a rehearsal dinner or engagement party. The food was good, one or two of our dishes weren't actually hot, but we were chatting and drinking anyways. The cocktails were good and the service up to par. My only cons are that they don't serve the whole menu on the terrace and that the prices are more for the location than for the product.

WOW! Absolutely awesome food in a really cool, newly designed restaurant in Midtown. I was blown away during my recent visit to Atlanta by the great restaurant design here, with every detail thought through and expertly executed. From the lighting, to the seating, to the graphic design, to the music and down to the staff's attire. This place has a great vibe. The menu is eclectic and really tasty. I loved the Oxtail Toast, Fenugreek Shortrib, Quinoa and Banana Toffee dessert. You simply can't go wrong with a meal at Community Smith. Looking forward to seeing how the menu evolves throughout the year.

We came by because this was the place my husband and I had our first date. We did not have a reservation but they fit us in. We had the lamb spare ribs and ox toast for appetizer. It was amazing. For dinner we had the beef Babette and the lamb shoulder. Again, amazing. So happy we decided to come here and we will definitely be back!!!

I was in Atlanta for business and Community Smith was attached to our hotel. Trendy ambiance, decent waitstaff and nice food selection. The meals are ala carte which was nice because you can pick the veggie that you like best, not what the chef thinks compliments your meal. I had the Beef Bavette with the roasted cauliflower. The beef was cooked just the way I like it, very pink. If you like anything over medium you will want to let them know. The herb salsa had good flavor but could use a bit more kick and the goat cheese (I think) added just the right touch. The roasted cauliflower was superb. It was hearty with a sweet taste. Overall nice restaurant!

I will try this place again in a few months--new restaurants always take some time to get into their groove, tweak their menus, etc. It's more like a 3.5 stars than a 3. 1. Solid space, the usual stuff that's en vogue right now: white subway tile, natural rustic modern look. As the weather is getting nicer, I wonder if they have the rooftop deck, one of the best in Midtown. 2. Starters: Chicken wings confit tasted just like slightly more interesting chicken wings (no doubt it was fried in chicken fat, but I don't know that I care too much), the fried squid is heavy on the batter and light on the squid, and the bone marrow mushrooms were definitely tasty but couldn't detect if it was bone marrow specifically that made them flavorful. 3. Mains: porchetta is what I ordered, and it's very delicious. If you like big slices of roasted pork belly that pack some flavor, this is a great order and a great value. My wife got the magret duck; a little tough, not as succulent as you'd want. A friend ordered the burger--it has the beginnings of a really good burger, with toasty bread and pickles, but the meat tastes kind of like Wendy's. Solid, not great. Another friend ordered the steelhead trout--I didn't try it. 4. Sides: the sides were great, actually. Brussels were done well, charred and bacon-y, nothing remarkable but no easy feat. 5. Drinks: solid, some interesting cocktails, especially the one with tobasco and peach liquor. I like them better than your average Atlanta spot but my go-to spot for mixology is still The Lawrence. 5. Value: priced in the 18-30 range for entrees, so with starters, drinks, tax and tip it comes out to about $50-60 per person. It doesn't strike as amazing value, but it's not underpriced and the portion sizes are just fine. Hoping this place has the ability to stand out in a few months, but if it doesn't, it's not a bad place for a corporate dinner or a casual date. I'll track their menu and see if it's worth visiting again, but for this type of food, JCT Kitchen in Midtown and Cakes & Ale in Decatur are the standard-bearers. I'd put Community Smith as a better value than Miller Union (seems way pricey) and Cooks & Soldiers (another new spot that is a bit pricey and hasn't figured it all out yet) and Top Flr (it used to be so awesome but has fallen off in the last few years). But it's not in that tier of top spots just yet. Rooting for it to get there though.

I was really looking forward to the opening of Community Smith. I ate here last week and had a wonderful relaxing dinner. The staff are extremely personable and make for an enjoyable dining experience. I ordered the duck pate and steak. Both were incredible! The steak was cooked to perfection and the duck pate was plated perfectly. I wish I had taken pictures (next time). Thanks Community Smith! I will be back again soon!

Had an awesome time. Can't wait to go back. Food was very good. My favorites were the drinks and the dessert. The ambiance is great for date night, GNO, and family dinner! Special place and awesome service. Can't wait to eat there again. Congrats on your Grand Opening in Atlanta!

Great spot for dinner. They've really got great decor even down to the water glass choice. The food was good and the menu's style was unique and encouraged sharing amongst the table.

My sumac chicken was dry. Went back for dinner, the steak was coated in a syrupy-sweet sauce. You've gotta nail the proteins!!

Many words would work but "impressive" is the first that comes to mind. This was an exceptional experience from the very moment I walked in. But it took a fantasic turn for the better when Zach provided his expertise and capability. From his knowledge of the menu, his knowledge of the wine and the excellent service...the meal was that much better. The food was exceptional with creative touches of flavor and style and wonderfully prepared. If you look at my reviews, you will see how much this restaurant positively affected me. Please go see them, eat, drink and enjoy...and then tell your friends to go too!

Had dinner with friends here and was not disappointed. I would describe the ambiance as casual elegance. Food prices were very reasonable and the quality was great. The server was excellent....knowledgeable, attentive and offered great recommendations. For appetizers, we had the oxtail toast, short ribs and the mussels, all of which were great but I have to say the oxtail and short ribs were the favs. For dinner we had the trout and the smoked chicken with the cauliflower, kale and Rosemary elote sides.....everyone cleaned their plates. The Rosemary elote was my fav of the bunch; however, I wish it had just a hint of cayenne for some heat since it's more of a Mexican cream corn style dish. All the other sides were great as well. For dessert, we had the brownie, sticky toffee pudding and the popcorn ice cream. They were all delish, but we enjoyed the ice cream and the pudding the most. The wines were great as well...I had the Malbec and others in my party had the Cabernet. Valet parking was free with a stamp from the restaurant so no need to search for parking on the street. One of the managers gave us 10% off coupons for our next visit and rest assured, we will be back. For this visit, they deserve 5 stars.

Wow....I LOVE a new find and this place definitely qualifies! Went there for lunch with a colleague on a whim--just to try the new place--and we were both very happy we did. I had the porchetta sandwich and he had the short rib sandwich. Both of them looked wonderful so we went the share-route and neither one of us could decide which was better. And these were not the kind of sandwiches where you end up with a big hunk of bread left over....oh no....they were seriously loaded with the meat. Tender, perfectly seared and just plain delicious! I'm actually glad we didn't know they came with fries, because if we had we wouldn't have ordered sides. But we got the quinoa and the greens, shared them as well and couldn't have been any happier....perfectly cooked and spiced just right. (Now I'm really looking forward to going for a dinner visit and sampling the wine list.) The service was also wonderful: friendly and helpful and just attentive enough without hovering. Needless to say, this was my first visit but will certainly NOT be my last.

So having been here four times now figure I have enough of a basis to write a review and overall I'd say it's an interesting place with potential but it's very inconsistent, both in terms of food and service. I've order a number of items multiple times so here are some examples. The gem lettuce salad is pretty solid but sometimes the bread is hard as a rock, or there is a huge pile of the radishes on top that overwhelm the entire thing. The pieces are there but it's execution that is missing. Second, the lamb spare ribs. First time I had them they were out of this world, perfect size and balance of meat and fat and the fritters were soft and warm. Second time I ordered the pieces were large and hard to handle / eat and way too much fat (and I like fat) and then the fritters were dry and tasted like nothing... Letdown for sure. The sides are a nice addition and big enough to split or have as a pet of the meal. The the mustard greens were insanely but the quinoa is solid and has yet to disappoint, it looks basic but flavors can be complex. The cauliflower was solid and tasty. The duck pate has been consistent and tasty each time. I have not tried many mains to be 100% honest but there appears to be some nice things there I just enjoy a little variety served through smaller plates - oil be sure to try another main next time I am here. From a drinks standpoint the wine list is OK, not great not bad. The mixed drinks are interesting and have the potential to be solid but again inconsistent - one week the old fashioned was perfect and delicious and in the right glass... The next it was served in a tall narrow glass and the flavors did not mix well and everything fell to the bottom, again potential but fell flat. I was very happy to see they had the scotch Monkey Shoulder as its a hard to find and great value scotch I recently discovered in a trip to Scotland, but it's since disappeared from the shelf. As for desert, only had it once and it was solid and left me very happy. From a service standpoint the ladies of the house are happy and check in on you, but the guys need to check their attitude and take a lesson from the ladies working the floor. I have only been here week nights and again sometimes even with a relatively empty dining room (I eat at the bar typically) service was great some night and others I sat there waiting for a gentleman who was working the bar to finish a side conversation with a waitress before I even got acknowledged or was offered a menu / drink. There seems to always be some internal gossip or debate going on behind the bar which results in less than attentive service at times... I know it's new but let's not try to fix how things are running in front of your paying customers maybe? Again, the word I would use is potential - a little more consistently and attention to detail on the food, and service and you have a success on your hands for sure even if the location is a little odd (in hotel).
