India is the birth place of Chicken Tikka Masala and Curries. Indian foods are prepared with a blend of finely mixed spices quite popular across the region. The spices develop the rich taste in Indian food enough to boggle your mind. While most of the Indian population is Vegetarian, Indian food is great for people who are looking for vegan or vegetarian food option. If you are a Meat lover, don't get disappointed yet. Loved the chicken tiki masala. My friend and I still rave about the chili ghobi which is now one of my favorite food. Courteous staff and meals are cooked quickly. I can't say enough good things about this place.

I've been here a couple times and it's delicious. We have eaten at the restaurant and taken takeout home on busy week nights too. The prices are reasonable and it's very casual. We have tried a dosa, chai tea, chicken tikka masala, and chetendau chicken. We are so glad to have an Indian restaurant in this area.

Food is awesome... Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian tastes good . Must try RASAMALAI it's really awesome.

I've been to bawarchi a couple of times to pick up food and haven't been disappointed so far. Tried the chicken biriyani, palak paneer, and chicken chettinad. The palak paneer is amazing!!! I could eat it everyday! Finally a nice Indian restaurant in this area. It's a little pricey for the take out quantities, but very well worth it. Now if only the parking lot was a little easier to navigate :)

Awful service. Since its only restaurant in neighborhood, people are going in. If you respect yourself, and wants to be treated well then this is not the place for you.

I am happy to have an Indian restaurant right around the corner from my job. Food is delicious and priced fairly. The only issue I have is the space. It gets horribly crowded, people are EVERYWHERE!! I managed to get to the restaurant early one day and like 30 mins later large groups people came in and it became very cramped. Once they get situated (they recently opened) I hope they get a larger place to accommodate that many people. You will know it's crowded when you see a bunch of people waiting outside. That 's usually my cue to find some other place to eat for lunch.

Good food, potential to be great, still working out some kinks. I ordered carry out at lunch time as I had a few errands and would be driving by their location on my way back to the office. The entrees are listed as coming with naan or rice, so I was puzzled when I was told I couldn't get naan with my order because it takes a half hour. Really? During the weekday lunchtime rush they don't have naan ready? Not left with any choice, I ordered rice instead although I rarely eat the stuff. Picking up my order was uneventful; it was ready on time and packaged appropriately. Oddly though, I found I had naan in the bag instead of rice. I'm unsure if the person taking my order was confused, or if something else happened, but in the end I was pleased (although puzzled). I imagine this is just one of those new-restaurant kinks that will be worked out in time. My one big disappoint though is learning that they're actually closed from 3-5pm as that eliminates being able to pick up carry out for dinner since I leave work well before 5pm. Both their paper menu tri-fold and their website list their hours as 11am to late evening with no mention of the break.

My only complaint is that the place is small. Other than that, this place is a boon the area. Food is consistently tasty. Service is great. Pretty much tried the whole menu and enjoyed all of them.
(5)Kiara P.
Some of the stuff was great- good spice level. But seems like the quality is deteriorating. The last time I ordered mutton biryani the meat was so bad I had to throw it away. Otherwise it's decent- great assortment of chutneys with the dosas, veg and chicken biryani are good.

As someone whose been to India it is nice to know I have a place nearby where I can get chicken biriani and chicken 65, two of my favorite dishes from my visit to Hyderabad. These two dishes, along with the garlic naan, were outstanding. The only reason I don't give this place five stars is because I asked for my entrees to be very hot (spicy). Usually, this is not hard to accomplish in and Indian restaurant, but I would describe what they gave me as mild at most. Being a whitey, they probably thought I couldn't handle it, but I'll definitely try it again!

Customer service sucks. Try ordering carry out on a weekend night and be prepared to experience abysmal response - they pick up the phone and do not speak! This is quite unprofessional on their part!!

This place is small but makes up for it's size with big value, power packed tasking authentic Indian Food!!

I was up over here, and knew this place was newish so I went in and asked for a Togo menu. I looked it over and decided to try the butter chicken. I told the guy taking my order not spicy. It comes with rice and I also got an order of Regular Nan bread. I was going to get chicken tikka but they do not carry the sweet chutney sauce that I get when we go for Indian. A little weird to me. I got my meal to go, food didn't take a long time to come out like others have posted. So I go and open my package. They packaged it in containers that you would get from Chinese for soup. Both the rice and my butter chicken. Sadly I couldn't get very much of it being to spicy for my taste. Nan bread is ok, I've had better. Well I gave this place a try but won't be returning. I think I'll stick with the other Indian resturant my family and I have been to and enjoy. I'm also being nice and gave 3 when I think I would have give 2.5 stars. We'll see how long this place last for.
(3)D G.
This place has some really tasty food. I am not sure how long it has been open, the service is scattered and minimal. I would definitely recommend it. It is the closest to perimeter mall and best Indian for about 10 miles. They really are going for too much on the menu. Biryani seems like the best value and fastest thing to get at lunch. It is a cellphone. Dead zone.
(4)A M.
Finally a good biryani place. One serving is enough for two people - trust me! Husband and I shared boneless chicken biryani ($9.99) and both were very happy with the quality and quantity. Cannot wait to go back there again. My British boss (who has experienced Indian cuisine thoroughly in London) loved their keema dosa and fried cauliflower appetizer. He said they were the best he has tried in the US so far (in the past 17 years). *two thumbs up!
(5)Sai K.
the food is amazing with all the indian Flavours available for a reasonable price.my favorite is spring dosa ,palak paneer & mango lassi.
(5)Lauren A.
Excellent Butter Chicken & Tiki Marsala. It's a take-out place so don't expect anything too fancy, just good food.
(5)Prem D.
Worst Customer Service, Quality of Food is not good compared to my previous visit

authentic biryani place

Great indian restaurant for veg n non veg food.. Yummy tandoori chicken, gobi manchurian, biryani and super soft naan.
(5)Affzal A.
Nice place to eat authentic biryani and indo-chineese food.
(5)A B.
Food is definitely good, but the customer service is very poor. They are running it like a road side stall in India. Same attitude towards customers. If one goes there are plenty of others to come. Because this is the only one providing good authentic biriyani around sandy spring.

First Indian restaurant I've tried in Marietta because a friend of mine was craving Indian food, and I was pretty happy with it. The restaurant has a nice clean look to it. The samosas tasted great. The chicken biryani can definitely feed 2 people, although I wish it came with more chicken. It was mostly rice, but at least the rice was very good. For the price and the amount of food you get, it's a great deal. We also got the chickpeas, which wasn't as much food as the biryani. So bang for your buck wise, it wasn't as great, but the taste was definitely good. Overall we were pretty satisfied with our meal.
(4)Ravish C.
Great restaurant, great Biryani. I ordered the egg biryani, and was surprised by how good it was. The place isn't too big, but if was decent, especially considering how good the food was. Definately will be going there again!
(5)Tobias S.
What a great business model! The interior is bright and modern, the menu is diverse and traditional, and the food comes in delicious, generous portions. Seriously, I don't know why this place is $$ on Yelp. The 11$ byriani was easily enough for 2, and I have a big appetite. AND they have awesome dosas. Even if you don't usually like Indian food dosas are highly recommended. Platter sized crepes rolled up and served with delicious fillings (I recommend potatoes), just rip it off with your fingers and dip it into one of their awesome chutneys. Okay, the Chutneys aren't the best I've had, and the byriani isn't as good as an ultra-traditional mom + pop shop. And the service, while not lacking in my experience, isn't exactly warm. But that won't stop me from coming here whenever I'm in Atlanta. It's a great little place with wonderful food, prices, and selection. Perfect if you're in the mood for Indian food without going anywhere too serious.
(5)Chetna P.
Food was pretty good. Not outstanding. Liked the fact that they use ve dry little oil. Food isn't very greasy. U ordered the mayor masala dosa and it wasn't spicy at all. Sambar was nice. And they gave a variety of chutneys. Will Def come again if I am in the area.

Think of this more as a 2.5 but I don't feel like rounding down because this is a restaurant that is so needed in this area. FREAKING FINALLY an Indian restaurant in Sandy Springs! This place has been open for just over a week now in the Abernathy Square shopping center, sort of in the middle of the strip mall near Publix. It's a small place that must have been a Quizno's before I ever really paid attention to this shopping center (which is like, only in the past three months). They have around a dozen tables for dining in. If you are dining in, you sit down at a table and have table service, which is very confusing because the counter feels so front and center. If you're getting food to go, you can order at this counter. There is a sign that says there's a 5% discount for cash. I was not given this discount. This appears to be a chain, but they list EVERY single option they offer foodwise on it, so you're better off at least coming here on your first visit. Biryani is obviously the focal point, but they do offer a decent amount of veggie and non-vegetarian dishes. They also have dosas, uttapam, and lots of appetizers. I got kadai chicken, and you have the option of rice or naan. I opted for naan. I paid and was told it'd be ready in ten minutes. There is literally nowhere to be out of the way while waiting for takeout here. I went and stood outside for 8 of the 10 minutes then came back in. I still felt in the way. Especially because it took twice as long as I was told for my food. Then, why I'm writing this now instead of giving them another shot or two first, it was VERY odd and kind of tempts me not to go back, or I'm hoping maybe they might see this and take it as the constructive criticism I hope it'll be. The guy packing up my order asks me if I ordered rice or naan. I say rice. The order receipt said naan. Instead of just taking my word for it that I wanted rice, he asks the guy who took my order if I ordered rice or naan, and he replies rice. What the hell? I work in a place where if I want to check what someone ordered, I ask that customer, and that is that. If they were to even change their order at that point, especially over something so trivial that's clearly on hand, it is not worth how that could potentially make that customer feel awkward. It was incredibly weird and kind of rude. The kadai chicken was okay, the first time I had it from a different restaurant it was definitely spicier. I was also the only non-Indian person I saw the entire time so I guess they just decided to assume I'm a spice wuss and not ask, so keep that in mind if you have stronger than average taste buds. It also wasn't really that big of a serving, so if you're hoping to have leftovers, you might be better off with an app and a friend. I'll give them another chance but I'm going to give them a couple weeks more first to hopefully work out their kinks, and I'll probably eat there instead.

This place has horrible service. Took 30 mins just to place the order and another 45 mins to get the food. But the time we got the food, we lost appetite from smelling all the food everywhere. Plates way too big for the table, takes away all the space and hard to adjust food on the table. They really need to hire more people to handle the guests.
(1)Leah A.
The butter chicken and chicken korma were good. I had hoped for less spicy when I asked for a 0 on a spicy scale of 1-5. The naan was really good! (But then again, almost all naan is good!) It was fast and great price compared to most Indian food in the area! I will probably go back again soon!

Great people , great service. Great food. This place is a little far for me, but I was working on that side of town and I like be it. Hats off to the owners who made this location possible. Food is cooked to order.. Inside decor is smooth I met the contractors when they was working there and I seen all the work that was put into it. The little short cook is so funny. Lol
(5)Upendra K.
Went there three times. The last two were carry out - extremely bad experience ordering on the phone since I had to wait for 30+ min both the times. I complained but did not matter Quality of food (biriyani especially) was very good the first time. We got Dum chicken biriyani, boneless chicken biriyani and mutton biriyani. We were telling ourselves that the quality and quantity was admirable. The next two times were progressively bad. Yesterday in particular was really bad. The dum biriyani was tasteless and the boneless biriyani had just a handful of chicken pieces Overall, it felt like a typical experience with any new Indian restaurant - good food the first couple of months but then cut back in quality and quantity .

In short.. "Love the food.. Hate the service.." Hyderabad !!! That's the first thing comes to your mind when you go to this place. This is "the" best, original, actual biryani place in Atlanta. I have been here too many times, became a fan from first time itself. Overall taste is great. When we go out for dinner, this the taste we like. Which is not of home made food, but a restaurant made food. Not the simple/plain food, but rather spicy food - like sweating spicy. This restaurant delivers to that promise. Recommendation - Ofcourse Biryani. Curries are good as well. Good Vegetarian options. Dal is awesome !!. Wondering why only 3 stars ??!! Well food is all great, but as some of other people mentioned, service is horrible. It is so unbearable that, I hate sitting there in this restaurant. All waiters would be mostly busy talking to each other, rather than concentrating on customers. After couple of times, I realized this "take away" kind of restaurant. Order food from phone, reach after ~10 mins of the time they gave, and enjoy the food at home. People in kitchen are doing awesome job, but level of service have to go up to maintain the customer base.
(3)Don P.
We went to this restaurant today and got seated without much delay. No one came to take order for 10 minutes. Then someone came and asked whether we have already ordered food. When we said no, she advised it is our responsibility to get someones attention and order food. We ordered boneless chicken biriyani and waited for sometime. After 40 minutes waiter came to our table and said they dont have boneless chicken biriyani and kitchen is closed. Worst experience in united states from an Indian restaurant. People with self respect should not go there. Customers are treated as if they are serving free food. Giving 1 star just because there is no option to choose 0.
(1)Suman R.
If you love Indian biryani then this is the place that will not disappoint you. Sometimes the biryani can be a little off but not always. You can never go wrong with Dosas over here. The price is right and the food is 8 out of 10 times right!
(4)Nikki G.
I spotted this place while trying out another restaurant in the same shopping center and since I love Indian food, I decided to pop in and have a second dinner. Because that's completely acceptable and guilt-free, right? Don't judge me. This is a relatively small restaurant that was quite busy for a random Wednesday night, but the service was good and quick. My litmus test whenever I try a new Indian restaurant is always butter chicken and saag paneer, so of course that's what I went with here. The butter chicken was good but could have been a little creamier. Unfortunately I thought the saag was just too salty and it overwhelmed the spinach flavor and made it difficult to eat. Overall not too bad, but there are other Indian places closer to me that I like better.
(2)Tamera B.
This is probably closer to a 2.5. There's just better Indian food out there but not much in this area. I've gone twice now, once in the beginning when the waits were crazy insane. About 25 mins for one dosa. It's been a few months but the quality of food is just OK. Service hasn't gotten that much better. We had to track them down to order and to get our checks. I tried their tikka masala which is one of my staples when I'm comparing Indian restaurants. This was so orangey and bland. I'm not sure what was going on but it was not too appetizing. I'm usally sopping up tikka with naan but I left my remains. And so did my lunchmate. I do hope they can pick up the slack because Sandy Springs is mostly an Indian food desert.

Parking is plentiful. We were the first in line. They had paper menus scattered on tables and at the ordering counter. We ordered the goat biryani (good goat but limited quantity). The fragrance of the rice, fried onions, and cilantro was enough to make the mouth water and stomach juices churn. I love the tender chicken 65. It wasn't spicy enough for my Indian friend but I'm OK with anything that doesn't make me sweat, my nose water, and my eyes shed tears. I learned to sprinkle it with lemon. Oh my. Did that add a new element to it or what?! We thought we were too full but the dosa came out. The crepe looks big but it really is thin, almost as thin as a sheet of paper. It was lined with a spicy chutney, but have no fear. There were plenty of yogurt sauces (for biryani, actually) to go around. The dosa came with four sauces: coconut, mint, tomato, and a thicker stew-like broth. My favorite is the tomato! I'm salivating again thinking of it. I don't have a sweet tooth but my "potato tooth" was pleased by the potatoes inside the dosa. This was more than enough to make up for my disappointment that they don't make samosas until 4 pm. Mango lassi has a consistent burst of mango flavor. It wasn't too sweet but I still couldn't drink it all. You can also ask for a glass bottle of water from the refrigerator for your table. Service is nice. I was just a bit surprised the food took longer than expected, considering we were the first in line when the restaurant opened. Price is reasonable for the quantity and satiety.

Went in to dine-in and the restaurant was quite occupied with other diners considering it was Thursday evening. The food as usual was good but the scene was a bit chaotic. We ordered for 3 Dosas. While waiting for our order we decided to order a portion of Pakoras which was served promptly. After a while the server came with 2 Dosas, when we enquired about the 3rd we were told that they can make only two Dosas at a time (not sure why) and the 3rd would take some time. We informed the person that we were OK and would share the 2 Dosas between the 3 of us and assumed that the order for the 3rd would be cancelled. We meanwhile also ordered for a Biriyani to-go. When we had finished eating (about 20 minutes) the server came with the 3rd Dosa! When we said we had assumed it was cancelled, he was OK with it and took it back without a fuss. Then the wait for the Biryani started. I meanwhile decided to go to the counter and pay and I found out that the server (who had taken our order) was about to charge for 3 dosas but had missed out on the Pakoras. The mistake was promptly corrected and it was a genuine slip-up but the level of confusion was at the highest. Moral of the story. Get a take-out and if you decide to dine ensure you are not a large group. I also saw another group of people (about 6 to 7 at a table) got their ordered delivered in installments. Not a very good dining experience. If you wait for everyone's order to arrive someone will eat cold food or you can start eating as it arrives and in this case someone will be watching and someone will be eating at any given time. I get a feeling that the restaurant was not planned and designed for serious dine-in and the capacity of their kitchen is limited and cannot cater for large groups.

So, SO delicious! I came here for lunch with a good friend of mine a few days ago, and we ordered the Butter Chicken, Palak Paneer, and Chicken Biryani. It was stellar! So delicious, especially for a fast food kinda joint. I love that this location is in Sandy Springs- I haven't found any quality Indian food in the area, and this is only 5 minutes from my house!

Just recently had a take-out order of Biryani from here - HAD to be the best biryani I've ever had in Atlanta. You can really taste the delectably packaged lemon, saffron, yogurt, coriander and french onions. We had one veg and one chicken. The "Dum" style cooking is uniquely distinct: well marinated pieces of meat are sandwiched between several layers of long Basmati rice strands and cooked on steaming charcoal. The chicken tikka masala was on point, as always but I really enjoyed the spicy spinach pakodas (mirchi chilles interspersed with Spinach and fried) It's so nice to have a great tasting Biryani House without having to go all the way to Decatur. Terrific takeout experience!

(much longer review in my food blog) BawarcHi Biryani Point is located at 6627 Roswell Rd, STE A, Atlanta GA 30328 in the same Publix shopping center that hosts Ippolito's (it's a couple of business to the left of Ipps) in the former location of a different Indian restaurant (from what I recall). The storefront is very unassuming and belies the delicious goodness found within. I had heard about the restaurant (part of a chain) previously and finally did lunch here with a group from work including several Indians and vegetarians. We were able to sample several dishes, with the star being the biryani. I like to describe biryani to those uninitiated as "Indian fried rice" - not that it's fried, but it does approximate what many Americans have tried that's similar in classic Americanized Chinese cuisine. The interior is rather unassuming but well lit - the space is long-and-narrow with an ordering counter along one side, halfway inside. You can ask to be seated and will be served at your table. I was excited to try BawarcHi as I fell in love with biryani while visiting India earlier this year. Being Asian, I usually prefer basic sticky rice over fried rice - and the usual Chinese stuff doesn't work for me when I do feel like it fried - my preference is the egg fried rice you find in Japanese restaurants. You do need to be a bit careful as the cooking experience often involves whole seeds - nothing like getting a bite of whole clove, a cardamom pod or a star anise fruit. Our group during lunch comprised 7-8 people so we ordered a variety of foods. For appetizers, we ordered Chicken 65 and Chilli Chicken - both were quite good and disappeared before I could get photos of them - actually much of what we tried went too quickly for me to get good shots. I had a bit of discussion with my friend Sangam regarding "Chicken 65" - I've seen this before, most recently at Himalaya's on Peachtree Ind. We ordered two biryanis - a Boneless Chicken Biryani (which I highly recommend) and a vegetarian Veg Dum Biryani - both were quite delicious and either could be shared by two - they are served in large crocks. We also ordered a Paneer Makhni and an Egg Masala (those for the vegetarians), a Chicken Tikka Masala and a Mutton (goat) Masala - all were quite good - the egg was a bit weird to me (whole boiled eggs in sauce). Accompanying was a double order of garlic naan. I spotted a huge Masala Dosa being carried to another table - this became my favorite Indian breakfast item - basically a thin crepe stuffed with spiced potatoes served with a trio of chutneys - quite delicious and the version I spotted at BawarcHi looked great (though it was missing the traditional banana leaf "plate"). In general I thought the food was mostly very good - with the biryanis being the best dishes. Service was a bit spotty (expected in a new business). This will become a regular stop for my lunch group.

So far so good....best accessible joint for Indian food in Dunwoody area. Tried dosa, biryani and some more dishes happy with the food and service. Last week we gone their on Saturday night around and got to know they were out of food ...which is good sign both for customers and for business...let's see how far this trend goes.....

So glad to have a decent Indian place around. Compared to some of the best Indian food I've experienced Bawarctli maybe deserves 3-3.5 stars but given the comparative options in the area I'm going with 4 stars. The food, while not mind-blowing, is relatively fresh, high quality and "real Indian" not that canned gringo slop you get at some "Indian" restaurants. They also have a few nice touches I appreciate such as the Halal meat and filtered water (a HUGE plus for me). My only complaints were as follows: 1) Mango Lassi was way too sweet 2) there are more eco-friendly options than styrofoam to-go containers. 3) the food was very good, not mind-meltingly good You won't regret it!

Worst experience ! Waiters treat us as though we came for free food. I would not recommend.
(1)Wes W.
Spicy flavorful biryani, gobi and chili Manchurian was very good too Spicy dosa nicely done The debit/cc machine went down and were t able to expense. No notification of this issue was given to existing customers just a note posted in door and told once we were done. Not good practice.

The mutton briyani was delicious and had a home made taste. The chicken tandoori as well. This place has the best Briyani in town! I have tried Briyani from the Indian places around and this one stands out! Give it a try!
(4)Sairam B.
Good quantity of Biryani!!! Service was good. Shame There was no dosa available for dinner time :(
(4)Sampath P.
I have been visiting this place for a while now and the standards of food and serving have been coming down day by day.. Would not recommend anymore
(3)Ashley L.
I really enjoyed the food here. It was pretty darn good Indian. Not the best I've ever had, but I used to live in NYC where you could find the best of everything. It was authentic and we were the only Americans, so that speaks volumes. We started with the Chicken 555, which was great! Very very spicy, but delicious. Then we had the Cut Mirchi Bajji (whole deep fried jalapeños with spiced chick pea flour). This dish was not impressive and I wouldn't recommend it. I shared the Chicken Tikka Masala and it was great! It's one of the better sauces I've had and that's my signature dish when I eat Indian. The Garlic Naan was okay. The garlic definitely made it better, but certainly not the best Naan I've had. However, prices very reasonable and I'll probably come back. I would recommend trying it out!

First time eating here. It was really good. I had the chicken 555 which is on the spicy side yet still very good. The chicken tikka masala and goat biryani were great entrees. Also got an order of garlic naan came with three pieces. Second order of naan came with 2. Not sure which it was supposed to be. Portions are for sharing; prices were very reasonable. Service was ok. Wasn't sure who our server was, everyone kept coming by and asking if we ordered yet.

Beware of ordering for pickup: They told me 30 minutes. Even though the restaurant was empty, I was there on time and they left me waiting another 20 minutes. Then they told me they had run out of something. They canceled my order and refunded my money. The ambiance is nice.

Ate there on Sunday, 7/19/15. Food is great: had the Paneer Tikka Masala along with a cheese Dosa and garlic naan. All were fantastic, but the service was really lacking. The young lady who was the hostess/waitress seemed pretty clueless. We kept having to (try to) flag her down (to order, get drinks, to get a check....). Each time she'd just look at us with a "Huh? What?" expression. It's a good thing we weren't in a rush, otherwise we wouldn't have found it quite so humorous. Anyway, I'll definitely go again, but only for takeout.

Really enjoyed this place. It is wildly popular despite its recent opening, and I am told there can be up to an hour wait for lunch (by my fiance, who has been here at least 5 times now -- maybe he is the one who should be writing this review!) During my visit with him, we tried: Cut Mirchi Bajji (6) Whole jalapenos deep fried with spiced chick pea flour. Price: $1.99 Chicken Tikka Dosa Spicy crepe stuffed with chicken tikka Price: $6.49 Chicken 65 Boneless chicken cooked with fried curry leaves, yogurt and spices Price: $6.49 Palak Paneer Fresh spinach cooked with homemade cheese cubes & spices Price: $8.99 I had never had mirchi bajji before. I enjoyed the chick pea flour coating, but thought the jalapenos were too spicy for me. It was a sneaky kind of spicy... I didn't feel much till I continued chewing and then felt my mouth on fire. Yeeah. Never had dosa before either and was shocked just to see how enormous the portions were. It came with a quartet of sauces for dipping -- my favorite was the peanut-y one. Immensely enjoyed this dish. It is definitely enough to satiate one's appetite alone as a dinner entree. The chicken 65 reminded me of Indian fried chicken nuggets with a tangy flavor. I did not much care for the tangy-ness, but thought it was a nice meat addition to the palak paneer. Made for great leftovers, too. Of course, I had to try the palak paneer. The paneer was definitely "lighter" than other paneer I have had -- in the sense that it was not as dense and more springy? Really loved this dish, even though it looked a bit unappetizing in color and texture. All in all, it's cheap, fast and decent Indian food just down the street. Glad for this addition!

Food is good but the service is VERY BAD. I took my office colleagues for lunch to this place. They took the order and delivered the food but left out one of my colleagues. We asked about it but they kept on saying food is coming but it never came for about 30 minutes. We approached the manager, he went inside and checked the status. He came back and said they made a mistake that they somehow missed the food for that colleague. Finally, after talking with manager couple of times food came after 45 minutes the time they took the order. My friend cancelled the order and went to subway nearby and had a sandwich. They need to improve on their SERVICE.

Another average in a crowded Indian food restaurants which seemed to have popped up everywhere.. Wish we had fewer but good ones..Average place worthy for take-out and dine-in experience could be somewhere between chaotic and crowded to lone ranger with no one around..lol Decent meat biryani but very inconsistent - some days food tastes fresh and on days it tastes like a shoe..Many snacks are pre-made and reheated..Fine for folks who are home sick and need their fix but not that great for rest of us :-( Meats are better than veggie options anytime IMO..Few times had their Dosas which are like crispy, savory crepes made of rice and other good stuff but on days it smelled of rancid oil..yuck..hopefully they do not re-use frying oil for cooking these puppies!I would stick to the biryani and take it to go.Meh..

Been here tWice now .. not the best food nor the worst. . Dine in service is terrible as the waiters look very stressed and hence rude. . Take out is better. . AboUt the food, nothing to write home aboUt. . Biriyani is not bad and portions are huge. .dosa was passable as was the gongura chicken. . I'd prolly go here again only because it's one of the few indian restos in Sandy springs but I wont have high expectations

Was OK. very casual dining and order-n-eat the fast food style. Food was medium Visited in May 2015

I have been waiting to try this restaurant from a very long time. It looked very crowded for a weekday and I was glad it was crowded because it somewhere gave me the feeling that the food is going to be good. However I was utterly disappointed. We ordered the Chicken 65 and the Chicken Boneless Biryani. Chicken 65 came within a minute of ordering which was surprising and made me think whether it was made fresh to order. Coming to the chicken 65 it was leaking with oil and there was no Chatni or Sauce as an accompaniment either. Chicken Boneless Biryani came with Mirchi ka Salan and raita. It took relatively longer time but when it came it was stone cold. We asked for a replacement and they got us one. The Biryani was decent with enough amount of Chicken pieces but I feel that I have tried better biryani elsewhere. Overall it was just an average experience.

Revisited after about 2 months. Dissapointed. The food was overly spicy and salty. So sad because the dishes are authetic but just over seasoned. This visit I had gongura chicken which is really unique and delicious dish but was just spiced Too much. I sent my hot and sour soup back. The dosa and veggie dishes are still yummy. The chicken corn soup is good too.

I was happy to see an a la cart dosa place open up in my neighborhood. So we came here on a weekend for lunch. We got the chicken 65, rava dosa, and chole batura. Overall, everything was good. Not great, but pretty good. However, the service was horrible. They never came by our table to check on us. If we ever needed anything, we would have to go up front to ask. They seemed to have a lot of people coming in for to-go orders. Clearly, to-go is the way to go since they lack in service. After that, to be fair, we decided to give them a second chance. We woke up on a sunday morning and decided to give it a go. I checked their website, which said they open at 11:00am for lunch. So, we walked into the restaurant at 11:00, and the lady who works there rudely told us that they don't open until 11:30. I told her that their website says they open at 11:00. She didn't seem to care and walked away. So we left and took our business elsewhere. We gave them a second change, and definitely won't be giving them a third chance. They need better service and to figure out their hours and post it accordingly on their website.

I have been there about 10 times, over a period of 6 months. I will try to make this review objective and to-the-point: Good things first: 1. Passable biryani and dosa, 2. Prices easy on wallet 3. Parking convenient 4. Close to other shopping places Not so good things: 1. Service can be improved several folds. The staff really look disgruntled, jealous and unwelcoming. I really suspect they are paid just tips and food. Women employees are just one step removed from burka. Talking to them is a big no-no. 2. Wait time can vary, my max wait time was over 30 mins and still I had to go and check on the food several times. Almost everybody takes the check to the register, so please don't wait at your table. 3. Some menu items are not available. It will be better if they keep a current menu. Still, if you just need to pig on Indian food in Sandy Springs, that is not too expensive, and is conveniently located, go for it.

Catering sucks from bawarchi. Ordered three trays of biryani and two and half trays are left over after the party. You can imagine the rest.
(2)Gaja M.
Good food but awful service. The service has gone from good to bad to worse in 3 months. I know couple of my friends complain about the same. Food is never on time.
(2)Prianca C.
Food is awesome... Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian tastes good . Must try RASAMALAI it's really awesome.
(5)S D.

I pulled into the Publix Shopping Center at lunch today heading to grab a Salad at Dantanna's when Bawarchi's caught my eye. I love Indian food, and there is a distinct lack of Indian restaurants in this area, so I decided to stop in. I'm glad I did! I tried one of the "Chef's specialties" that was a spicy chicken dish (I'm blanking on the name). It was quite delicious, and while it looked like a small serving when it came out, with the naan it ended up being plenty for me (I'm a fairly big eater). They just opened on 8/6/14, and the service seemed a bit disorganized (I'm not going to ding them for that in the first week of business) but overall they were very quick. The servers use tablets to enter your order and run your credit card. The restaurant is fairly small, and "feels" like a fast casual place (i.e. order at the counter then sit down) but it is a sit-down restaurant. And looking up their website, I learned it's a small chain with locations in Tennessee, Texas, Minnesota, and NJ (kinda random group of states). I liked the prices as well - most everything is under $10. I may well go back tomorrow to try something different!

One of the best Chicken Biriyani in Roswell-Marietta-Smyrna area. Don't forget to ask for Thumb's Up with Biriyani :)

I just had the worst dining experience at bawarchi biriyani point of my life and want to share that with everyone .My parents are vising us in the US and i took them to the Alpharetta Location as it's closer to my house and i had a good experience in the sandy springs location . When i reached there i discovered that is this is in the same place as Mayuri which was another bad restaurant .They have just changed the name .The staff and all are the same .We had a really bad experience with Mayuri earlier and were skeptical after entering this place .We decided to give it a try which turned out to be a really bad decision . For quiet sometime after seating down no one showed up to take the order .We had to literally pull someone to get attention .The person took the order and then disappeared for 25 minutes .We were with 2 kids who were getting impatient and so we checked in with the waited when we saw him next . He said he will check .and then disappeared again for 15 minutes .Finally after 40 minutes of waiting we all lost our patience and decided to call it quits .We went to the counter to complaint but the person there sounded helpless and hopeless .I asked him to cancel the order and left . These guys DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS .This was the case with Mayuri and nothing has changed with it becoming bawarchi !If you have time and money to waste you would may be consider them .I am never going back again . Infact after this i will think hard before considering going to any indian resturant .

Loved the chicken tiki masala. My friend and I still rave about the chili ghobi which is now one of my favorite food. Courteous staff and meals are cooked quickly. I can't say enough good things about this place.
(5)Kat S.

I have been to this place only once and this review is based entirely on that. I will change my rating if I have a better experience the second time around. Yes, I am willing to give this place another chance! We (3 adults and a baby) entered the restaurant sometime around 7.30 pm when it was fairly crowded. It seemed like most of the crowd was waiting to pick up their takeout orders. We were promptly seated at a table and a high chair was provided as well. 4 plates, silverware and glasses were placed on every table (even before they were occupied). The order was taken quickly on a fancy tablet/iPad. We ordered a chicken biryani, rava masala dosa, masala dosa and a mango lassi. We were terribly hungry and hence decided to order the main course directly, though the menu had a variety of appetizers. The mango lassi took more than 15 minutes to arrive even though all the waiter needed to do was pull it out of a fridge and hand it over to us. The masala dosa came first without the sambhar. The biryani came next and the rava masala dosa came last, with the sambhar but with no masala inside. Once we got out orders, we had to first clear out the preset empty plates that were already on the table and make space for our orders. Upon realizing that the sambhar was missing from our order, we asked the server for a cup of sambhar which we never got. She just stared at us blankly and we just left it to chance that we would get the sambhar. I had to wait for a good 10-15 min before I could catch hold of the server again to ask for masala, so that I could eat my Rava "masala" dosa. Finaly I was given the masala, but the rava dosa had become chewy and not really edible by then. The chutneys accompanying the dosas were however good The only upside was the chicken biryani and since I am a vegetarian, I will trust my friend's opinion on that one. Finally, we asked for our checks and iPad guy was back to swipe our cards on his fancy tablet. The process was quick but asked us to wait so that he could bring us the receipt, which like the sambhar never came! I am giving this place 2 stars - 1 for the biryani and 1 for the hope that the food and service would be better the next time around. In an area where Indian restaurants are scarce, Bawarchi has the potential to make it big. But the service seems a lot to be desired. Perhaps employing additional servers is an option or I will just resort to take out.
(2)Vinay M.
Chaos..is the only word for this place...service is way below average. We had to ask for everything(water, order & even the cheque!) and a long wait before someone showed up. But the food is good which is why the 3 stars.
(3)Raye W.
I wish I could give zero stars since only getting served water should not count as a star. I visited for lunch today with two coworkers. We were first to arrive at 11:40am and placed our order shortly after. The place quickly filled with patrons, which we thought was a good sign that we were in for excellent food. Fifty minutes go by with two follow ups asking if our food would be ready soon. More sips of water. Also, during the wait we saw every other table get served appetizers and entrées. At 12:30pm we raised the white flag and left the restaurant never being served food. My coworker commented that the same thing happened to him on a previous visit. I would stay clear of this restaurant. YOU CAN DRAW YOUR OWN CONCLUSION AS TO WHY MY DIVERSE LUNCH GROUP WAS NOT SERVED.
(1)Nick B.

(1)K G.
This place is small but makes up for it's size with big value, power packed tasking authentic Indian Food!!
(4)Bonnie B.
(5)Affzal A.
Nice place to eat authentic biryani and indo-chineese food.
(5)Sh S.
(5)Prasanth N.
Awful service. Since its only restaurant in neighborhood, people are going in. If you respect yourself, and wants to be treated well then this is not the place for you.
(1)Chris P.
(4)P E.

Worst Customer Service, Quality of Food is not good compared to my previous visit

authentic biryani place

Great indian restaurant for veg n non veg food.. Yummy tandoori chicken, gobi manchurian, biryani and super soft naan.
(5)Lauren A.
Excellent Butter Chicken & Tiki Marsala. It's a take-out place so don't expect anything too fancy, just good food.
(5)A B.
Food is definitely good, but the customer service is very poor. They are running it like a road side stall in India. Same attitude towards customers. If one goes there are plenty of others to come. Because this is the only one providing good authentic biriyani around sandy spring.

So finally after all the hearings abt the food we walked inside with a group of four 2 weeks ago , welcomed with respect and smiles frm d lady at frnt desk , she gave us place where we wanted to sit gave us menu cards asked to take our time .
Shame There was no dosa available for dinner time :(
(4)Safia A.
I've been here twice and all I can say is that their portion sizes are crazy big. Outside of the butter chicken, palak paneer, and biryani with Kaitlin, and returned with the husband for dosa, gosht, and more biryani. Everything was great, and the service (waiters take orders on iPads!) was top notch. Mango lassi was great too. We came back home with tons of food on both occasions. Their prices are steep for Indian food, but it balances itself out with all the food you can take home.

Two of my coworkers had eaten at Bawarchi several times since they recently opened a few months ago. One of my coworkers said that the Biryani dish is prepared the same way that it is in his hometown in India which makes this restaurant so popular to many Indian diners. We went there for lunch and arrived before noon so that we could get a table before it got crowded. We started off with the Chili Fish appetizer which was lightly battered fried tilapia stir fried with peppers, green chilies, onions and a spicy chili sauce. It was garnished with red onion slices and lemon. It was very tasty. One of my coworkers ordered the Chicken Biryani which he thoroughly enjoyed. I ordered the Chicken Vindaloo entrée which is one of my all-time favorite spicy Indian chicken dishes that I first tried 12+ years ago at another local Atlanta eatery in Little Five Points. I've ordered this dish several times over the years at other local restaurants, but it never quite tasted the same as when I first tried it. Bawarchi's Chicken Vindaloo was cooked perfectly. It had great flavor and had that hot chili pepper spiciness that I remember from the very first time that I tried this dish. I loved it. By the time we finished lunch, the restaurant had a line of people waiting for a table. I will definitely be coming back again to try their other dishes.
(5)Amanda B.
When we first started getting take out from here it was good. Now, it is way too spicy, even after we asked for mild. Hard cloves throughout the dishes. Not a fan anymore.

More than any other restaurant, I really wanted to give this restaurant a glowing review. At least, that's what I thought after visiting this place for the first time with my friend and trying their biriyani. I liked it so much that I took my partner to the restaurant. Unfortunately it didn't live up to it the second time. So I am going to keep my review short. When we entered for the dinner, only table was filled and there was two waiters and one lady at the counter. No one really welcomed us, but lady at the counter asked if we were dining in or just doing take-out. When we said we wanted to dine in, we were pointed to a table at the back. So we seated ourselves at the table and waited. And waited. And waited. No one really brought us the menu - so after waiting for 10 minutes, we grabbed the menu from nearby unoccupied table. Then we waited. And waited. After another 10 mins passed I went to the counter and asked if we should put in the order there but the lady at counter sent me back to the table saying someone would be with us in a moment. Then came our waiter who for some reason seem very annoyed to be taking our order(while other waiters were wearing similar t-shirts, he was in shirt and pant - probably the owner?). We ordered, 1) Chicken dum biriyani 2) Garlic naan 3) Chicken chettinaad 4) Goat curry(chef specials) After putting in our order, the waiter brought carafe of water but never brought glasses for a while. We had to stop him and ask for it - for which he gave another exasperated look and went back. He grabbed two glasses from unoccupied tables and slammed it on our table and left without a word! We looked at each other in disbelief. First of all - all tables had glasses, only ours didn't. Why seat us at table that was clearly not ready? Then came our food. The biriyani was almost as good as first time and we liked it. It was flavorful, hot and the chicken was very tender - though it was bit under-salted. They really do have good biriyani. chicken chettinaad had a slight off taste to it, definitely not the authentic version - but it was spicy as we expected. It was a OK dish. Goat curry - I couldn't believe we spent $11 for this dish - it came with five bite sized pieces of goat and two of those pieces was just bones with no meat whatsoever!. So we practically had three small pieces of goat - that was unacceptable. The goat curry itself was quiet spicy, had nice sour taste to it, flavorful and went well with white rice. But we were really bummed about the meat. Garlic naan was bit dry for my taste but wasn't bad either. I have had better ones at almost every other Indian restaurants. So we finished our plates and but our waiter didn't show up to check on us. But we could see him talking on the phone outside via glass door. After waiting for about 15 minutes, I went up to the counter told the lady that since waiter didn't come to our table we decided to pay in the front. For which she just said ok and accepted our payment. And we walked out. That's it. Food was OK, We liked some items more than others. It was the service that marred our experience at Bawarchi. I don't expect them to chit-chat but they could at least be not so pissy about requests - asking glasses for water & expecting waiter to attend us on time is not much to ask for. If a restaurant can't handle it, they could just let people order at counter, seat and pick up their order themselves like other restaurants like Zyka. 2 stars.
(2)Mansi R.
I wish I could give this place zero stars. Avoid this place at all cost. This is hands down the worst service in atlanta. We first checked out this place when they first opened and understood that they were new, but a few months down the line it's only gotten worse. We went for lunch and ordered and 30+ minutes after waiting and asking 2 people about our food we got no response. When my husband finally asked him to show our order on his iPad, he never even entered it in!! This place is horrible!
(1)Stephie Z.
I'm pumping my review up a star just for the chicken dum biryani (stay away from the fried boneless chicken version). The biryani is mighty tasty and is at least a 2 meal dish for $9. This is the only thing I am ordering from this place from here on out. The last time I went by I also tasted their masala dosa, which is a crepe filled with spicy potato mash. The spicy mash was super salty as was the crepe which made for a too salty dish that was almost inedible *skip it*. The other thing I tried was the yellow dal. Good, but too pricey for a too small size at $8. They need to drop the price by at least $3 for the amount you get. Last thing to mention: If you are going to get food to go, call ahead. The menu is on their website. It took a good 25 minutes for my to-go order last time.
(4)Abhi G.
An Indian restaurant was much needed in this area. This place started off really well. Their biryanis and South Indian food were good. In fact at point, it became my favorite dosa place. The quality of food here has changed drastically in last 3 months. Their both Indian food was never good; now even biryanis and dosas ain't the same. I would still give it a 2 star for its location.
