found this restaurant through yelp and wanted to try some Meditterean food for the night. its on a street on which all the houses have turned into a restaurant, art gallery, or some other small business. the restaurant has a small valet but also street parking. it was a nice night so we opted to sit on the patio which most people were doing. it was a nice environment and the service was great. we ordered: spanakopika scallops mesa mixed grill the portions were big. i was totally stuffed by the time i was done. and the free flatbread was delicios.

Took my date there for her birthday dinner. Had wonderful food & service. I had a dietary restriction that they took care of with a great substitution. My date ordered the filet & I had fish. Both were outstanding in taste & size of protions. Was very enjoyable sitting out on their deck. Can't wait to go again. BTW, I'm told that I'm pretty demanding in what I expect out of a restaurant. They met my every wish. Even comped her with a free desert, which luckily she shared with me, for her birthday.

Thank goodness for Scoutmob! =) The hubs and I are branching out to new restaurants more and more. We saw Basil's leaving Anis Bistro the other week and though, "that looks like a cute restaurant". When we found the Scoutmob coupon we decided to try it out. I like the ambiance. It's a quaint house with local artwork hung everywhere, simple decor, and a cozy fireplace. The hubs and I were starving by the time of our 7:00 reservation and were very happy when the flatbread came out. It's a pita bread topped with a sun-dried tomato/kalamata olive/oregano/olive oil paste toasted with mozzerella on top. I was skeptical at first because Robert M's review mentioned "olive flatbread". The kalamata olives weren't strong at all, I could barely taste it which is a good thing for me because I'm not a fan of olives. The bread was fresh out of the oven with melted cheese oozing on top. The hubs liked it so much he got a second basket. ;) Now onto the entrees. We both ended up getting specials instead of the normal menu fare. The hubs got Chilean sea bass over a vegetable medley (spinach, roasted garlic, corn, etc) in a ginger soy base ($28-$29). OMG the sea bass was soo yummy! I believe it was pan fried, so the outside had a light crispy crust while the rest of the fish was perfectly cooked. The veggies and the sauce made it a great dish. The only complaint was it was a bit salty for our taste. I got the lamb, bone in, with mashed potatoes, green beans, lamb au jus, and white beans special. =/ The lamb was just so so. Really just a 2.5. I don't know if it's because the sea bass was just so good that the lamb couldn't compare, but I wasn't impressed at all. I have a whole leg of lamb leftover and I'm really not looking forward to eating the leftovers for lunch today. For dessert we got the creme brulee. Again, not stellar. You could tell the sugar torched top was freshly torched because the top layer of the dessert was warm, but the bottom was cold. However, they didn't put enough sugar on the top so we didn't get the satisfying "crack!" you usually get when first breaking through the top layer of creme brulee. Instead of a "crack!" it was more like a "sink...". They added a few fresh blueberries on top which was a nice touch. All in all, sea bass was wonderful, lamb was not so great, and the creme brulee was just alright. Thus, 3 stars.

It was a pleasant meal. I felt like the food could have been seasoned better. I got the Mixed Grill(chicken, beef, lamb kabobs). Unspectacular at best.

I was not impressed with Basil's at all. Upon arrival there was no host, and the wait staff just looked at us like we were stupid, did not greet us, and told us to sit wherever we like with an attitude. The waitress was mediocre at most - no greeting or introduction, no attempt to make us feel welcome, no suggestions. My date ordered the paella - tasty and flavorful, but soupy with a ton of sauce floating at the bottom. I had the salmon with vegetable ratatouille, which was tasteless and plain, and fish was tough. On top of it all, the salt was not coming out of the shakers, and after attempting 3 different wet shakers the waitress gave up on us and never got us a working one. I doubt I will go back. Anis directly across the street is way better for the same ambiance and price range.

I have to admit, I was a little leary as we pulled up onto the street to find Basil's, especially in the darkened rainy night. But pull in we did. And WOW, what an amazing place it turned out to be. The group of us were from out of town for a trade show. This being our last night in Atlanta, we thought we'd do something outside downtown and away from awful hotel restaurants. So glad we did. Pretty much a converted home in more of a neighborhood street setting than strip mall or typical business section of town, Basil's was pretty much what all the other reviewers have said it would be. The service was a little on the slow side, but I don't know if that's because of the weather or day, but it wasn't awful. Just a little slower than expected. The ambiance in there is definitely on the cute/romantic side. Not big, but a larger space than what it would appear to be from the outside. Food. Oh. My. God. Where to even begin. The appetizers were spot on in terms of taste and seasoning. We ordered three for our group of six and had just enough to tide us over until our main courses came out. We all ordered different items and took a bite of each other's food just to taste. YUM. The only so-so dish was the paella, which was more of a stew/soup than a true paella dish. It wasn't bad, but compared to the veal or pork or even meat combo, it was the downer entree. Dessert was great. Not over the top amazing, but definitely serviceable. I don't think they're known for that, but not bad at all. Basil's is definitely a hidden gem. I'd go again when I'm in Atlanta.

I hosted a bridal shower at Basil's and it was perfect! We had it on the patio and it was beautiful! Joseph was SO helpful in customizing a menu for our group. The price was beyond reasonable and the service exceeded the standard! They set up tables for the drinks and gifts and any request we had, they completed it! The food was delicious, the drinks were so tasty, and the setup was perfect! There are so many cliche places in Atlanta to host a shower like Swan Coach House, but Basil's is unique and memorable! Highly reccomend! I am getting thank you notes from guests b/c it went so well! One thing--I did have some issues with getting the payment processed, but they were honest and refunded the higher amount charged. They could have just charged me more and refunded the smaller amount (I didnt realize tip was already included)... I wouldnt have known the difference and they did. Very thankful for helpful, honest people!

Food and service were excellent. We had the hot and cold mezze platters with traditional foods like kabobs, rice, babaganoush, hummus, and dolma. Everything was delicious. Service was spot on and friendly. The outdoor patio of the restaurant was booked for a private party, but since we had asked to be seated outside, someone set up a table for us in a little garden beside the restaurant. The waiters and waitresses had to work extra hard to run out to us each time, but they did it. I actually loved the setting. It was very private and comfortable. We'll definitely go back soon.

The place has a romantic ambiance so ITS PERFECT FOR THE FIRST DATE. The food is really good, but it can be pricey for the average Joe. This place averages at $20 per person for the entree. If you want just pasta or salad then it can be lower than that. The portion is just a tiny bit on the 'bigger' side. DELICIOUS. they also serve some bread appetizer that has some ground topping on top which is slightly salty but just scrape it off and it was great. We sat outside on the balcony and we ate during dinner time. There was some older hispanic guy playing the guitar during this. The waitress was ok. We did tip her well since we got a deal from crowdcut.com ... they offer complementary valet but we skipped that to save a few more bucks since there is a perfect spot right across the street that is free. I will come back to this place but only if i can find another deal. Otherwise, it is slightly a little on the higher end of our budget. My husband had the Mix Grill with one skewer of chicken, one skewer of beef, a small slice of lamb, a small side of steamed spinach and a big serving of delicious jasmine rice. I had a pork loin with some apricot compote sauce, "mashed potato" which is actually more like a potato casserole, and steamed broccoli. We skipped the appetizers or any drink and we came right at $39.96.

I recommend this restaurant bar, the food is good, not outstanding, but good, but the atmosphere is very friendly and artsy. It feels like a neighborhood restaurant bar with a great wine list and friendly staff. There is art for sale on the walls. Great place for happy hour with friends or date night.

The Atlanta Cashmere Mafia had lunch here today and had a great time! We initially wanted to go to Treehouse, but they were closed for lunch!?!? Anyways, we wanted to sit outside and enjoy the nice weather and were tipped about this place. I am glad we came...the patio area is sooo nice! I think I was the only guy in the restaurant. Definitely a Buckhead Betty and Girls Luncheon tape place...which I guess in our case was perfect! The patio is surrounded with potted flowers and there were fans surrounding the area to give it a nice breeze. The menu looked really good. You can get small plates, pizzas, sandwiches and entrees. Everything definitely had a Mediterranean and Italian vibe to it. Our waitress brought out a mini-pizza like bread for us to snack on and it was delicious! I ordered the special of the day which is a Grouper Sandwich, Erin got the Greek Salad, and Allison got the Crab Cake Sandwich. Everyone really enjoyed the food and it was nice and quiet that we could really talk and gossip with one another. The only negative was the lack of parking. Allison and I had to park on the street in a neighborhood nearby the place while Erin was lucky to find something behind the building but had a hard time getting out. She definitely does not recommend parking back there!!! I'd go back for lunch again with the girls anytime!

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at Basils this last weekend, The bacon wrapped scallops were excellent as was the house salad. We ate outside on the porch with the guitar serenading us through our dinner. The ambiance was great, the service was excellent and the meal was delicious. I would recommend Basil's.

This was my first (and last) visit to Basils. Three of us had an 8:00 reservation- which typically means that there will be a table reserved for you upon your arrival, Right? Basils does things a little differently... While they accept online reservations- they cannot honor them and treat those the same as a walk ins. We were seated at 8:50. Already annoyed, I kept an eye on the clock throughout the night- here is a chronological set of events. 8:51- The most casually dressed girl in the entire place (who we find out later is our waitress) shows up and asked us what we want to drink. No introduction what so ever... 8:52- a bus boy comes to our table (which was set for four) and hyjacks my boyfriend's full drinking glass... We reach across the table and grab him a spare. This wasn't a huge deal but gave us a laugh and definitely goes with the theme of the service for the night. 9:05- our waitress (literally) tossed a cheesy flatbread into the center of the table. After waiting over an hour for our table at this point, we were starved and the flatbread quickly disappeared. 9:24- our food finally arrives- I ordered the grilled salmon. The other two ordered the seafood pasta. The salmon was a surprisingly small portion in comparison to the gigantic pasta dishes (maggiano sized portions) The filet itself was on the small side and was lukewarm at best. It was served over vegetables- some of which were hot as hell while others were cold. I tried a bite or two of my friends pasta- nothing to rave about but it wasn't bad either. I'd rate it a 3.7 out of 5. (The .3 was deducted due to the fact that my friend found a shrimp shell in his.) 9:29- my plate was completely cleared. Still hungry. Check process 9:50 ish- we used a scout mob to try this place out... Knowing this- Our waiter left SEVERAL hints at her tip and was super concerned with receiving her full 15%. Perfectly fine with me- I usually tip way more than that (even for poor service) but as she repeatedly pleaded for the 15- that's what she got. 15% and a poor review on Yelp.

A Quiet intimate getaway on Grandview avenue. Got a date, girls brunch, I think this is a good choice. I had the French Toast, and it came with fruit and skillet potatoes, my friends really liked the tuna salad and basil's benedict. Top it with Bloody Mary's and Mimosas, and you couldn't ask for a better experience. Off the beaten path and quiet, but worth the trip, a nice and relaxing meal.

I went there for a work related event for co-worker's for lunch function on 5/24/2012. The food was very good, however the service not so hot. The food orders came out wrong and food entrees were given to the wrong persons. The condiments bottles were empty or almost empty. Drink order were screwed up. I would go again, I just think wait staff needs to pay a little more attention to detail.

I went here twice for lunch and both times, the food was fabulous! The wait staff is friendly and helpful - not pushy. Order the Lunch Sampler - kofta, hummous, tabouleh salada and grilled chicken. I sub the kofta for some delish baba ghanuj. : ) Support this amazing place!

I love dinner on Basil's deck. Awesome food and great atmosphere. Joesph (the owner) is an attentive host. Best place in Buckhead for Mediterranean with lovey ambiance.

This was my second time going I absolutely adored both visits. The atmosphere is so nice. If you can, sit on the patio. They even had a jazz, swing type vocalist providing the music. The menu is wonderful. They brought us out a Mediterranean pizza type thing for us to snack on while we waited for our food. Delicious! I ordered the mango chutney glazed pork tenderloin which was delish. The only downside is the parking because there isnt any. Basil's has a very tiny parking lot and very limited street parking. The servers were also very nice though.

Absolutely horrible customer service! Food was pretty decent, but b/c of the service we will not be going back. Ordering drinks and appetizers were the easier part of the night... however, I must say that portion was quite small. At most places the server will tell you if one appetizer will be enough for the table.. in this case, all four of us ended up eating only one bite of the appetizer before if was done. Dinner came... my friend's salmon filet (the majority of her salad) looked very raw. We tried to tell the server and the response was that since the salmon is oven baked they cant control it... and then she walked away. It took us a moment to recover from the shock of them expecting her to eat this raw piece of meat. My friend attempted to eat the salmon but simply couldn't... so we tried again. This time the server actually looked at the piece of meat and said "Oh, its still raw!" Seriously?!? The server took the salmon back and said she'd bring another one back. By the time the salmon came out, the rest of us had already eaten most of out meal (we ate extremely slow) and my friend had already eaten the rest of her tiny salad. So after talking to the server about out disappointment, she agreed to give a free dessert for our friend who barely touched her salmon (and basically ate lettuce). So we ordered two desserts (one on the house and one we would pay for) since there were 4 of us and we would split. When the desserts came out, the on the house portion was extremely tiny compared to the normal portion. How tacky!!! We were extremely mad at this point and made no attempt to keep it a secret from the waitress. In her defense, she did apologize for the dessert disaster and said she was just doing what the owner said. So one of the guys asked to speak to the owner... she went to the back and then came back out and said the owner would not come out to the dining but if we wanted to talk to him, we would have to go in the back. Wow! So one of the guys went back there to talk to the guy about the situation. The owner was bold enough to get in my friend's face and say we demanded free dessert from the waitress (totally untrue). I can't believe the owner was making this big a deal over a dessert that costs $8, when our entire bill was over $130. What a sure fire way to ensure we will never come back! And then when we were leaving, the valet brings the wrong car. Brought the car up, left keys in, car running, lights on, and then ran to get another car. It wasnt our car!!! Shouldnt you make sure that the owner is nearby before you leave the car... dont you want a tip!?!!?

Another great Buckhead restaurant. I love eating outside and they have a nice casual deck. The food is always good here. And, if you haven't been across the street at Anis, be sure to try that restaurant out.

My husband and I had dinner here last Thursday night relying on the suggestion of a friend who has been coming here for years and we were not disappointed. Great atmosphere, food, and service. We ordered our entrees entirely off the specials list and what a smart move that was. I had scallops wrapped in bacon over a bed of cheese grits and wilted spinach and he had a slightly charred veal shank in a demi-glace sauce with mushrooms over mashed potatoes. Very attentive service and enjoyed listening to music on the patio (from the inside- we needed the AC). Wow- we will be going back.

I love Basil's! I work in the area and decided to try it one day for lunch. Well needless to say I am hooked! I now go there at least 3 times a week and as you know, there are a lot of lunch choices here in Buckhead that would gladly take my money. I have tried all of the salads but the one I order the most is the Mediterranean Tuna Salad. For $9 you get a salad with chunks of albacore tuna, romaine lettuce, artichokes, cucumbers, tomatoes, fresh herbs, capers, tossed in a light vinaigrette and sprinkled with sumac! Now upon occasion, there may be additional ingredients in my salad depending on what is fresh in the kitchen. And they always send out a fresh mini pizza with herbs, olive pesto, sesame seeds, and cheese. The staff is super great---however keep in mind that I am on a first name basis with them so I probably get a bit of the red carpet treatment. On Friday afternoons, we go for a glass of wine. Shawn typically picks our wine for the evening as he pushes us to try new wines that we may not typically order. And the owner Joseph will bring us a plate of fresh fruit (figs, peaches, strawberries, watermelon) and several cheeses. What a great way to treat a "regular"! The patio is one of the best in town and fantastic in the Spring and Fall. I cannot say enough good things about this place. When my husband reviews my Am Ex bill at the end of the month he says, "Basil's, Basil's Basil's, Trader Joe's, Basil's, Basil's, Basil's, Chevron....."

My wife and I came here on a Saturday for lunch. We try to try out new restaurants every week. Bottom line - this place is great and we'll be returning here for sure. We sat out on their beautiful patio which was so relaxing on a nice (not too hot) day. Our waiter was almost as cool as I am and he suggested we start with a nice bottle of Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc with a whole artichoke cooked in a very tasty sauce which the waiter refused to divulge the ingredients of. It was sensational and a very good choice for the wine. I had the lamb burger from the menu and my wife had the scallop salad which was one of the specials of the today. Both of these entrees were absolutely sensational. The best part was that everything was so relaxing and unhurried. Maybe it was because of the cocktails, followed by the oyster bay sauvignon, followed by the other glass of wine, but for me and my wife the meal was very memorable. Oh wait, we had chocolate lava cake for dessert. Yum, yum, yum

I hadn't been to Basil's in more than 10 years, when my husband and I decided to stop by for dinner. I was very pleasantly surprised to find the same great atmosphere (improved with a large outdoor dining area) and wonderful menu. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back very soon. I love it when a place can consistently deliver over a long period of time.

We ordered the mezze, Kibbeh, and I got the mixed grill for dinner. It was SO GOOD. All the food was fresh, the service was great, and the patio is perfect on a nice evening. If you get the mixed grill, ask for a side of the yogurt sauce, it complements it perfectly! I would recommend this place over and over again :)

Hi Kim K, I'm just seeing your response. I first heard about your restaurant from a friend she had a ladies brunch here a few years ago and I enjoyed it so much I wanted to try the dinner. I tell everyone at work about your restaurant and have brought my family. :-)

I eat a lot of Mediterranean food, it is my favorite cuisine. No doubt Basil's is the best Mediterranean restaurant in the city! My first visit, I ordered the smoked salmon flatbread and it was delicious! The salmon was moist, the sauce was just right, and the flatbread was light and crunchy. The appetizer was so amazing I decided to pay a visit my next lunchtime. During my latest visit I got the Mediterranean Platter. It included the pita bread, hummus, tabouleh, marinated chicken, falafel, and jasmine rice. It was so yummy I ate as I drove back to the office I'm looking forward to trying other menu entrees!

Excellent! I have to start off by saying that this place definitely was well worth the visit. I stumbled across Basil's as I was trying to find a cute little place in Buckhead to have dinner! Well low and behold I clicked on Basils and knew immediately that I had to reserve a spot to check it out! Upon arrival I noticed that there was complimentary valet! Yes! First point! Once I walked in I was pleasantly pleased to see how the layout they have set up on the patio. Since I booked my reservation on opentable.com I was awarded my 1,000 dining points! #winning. Service was beyond great! I have to shout out Matt for being so courteous and helpful with creating such a memorable first dining experience here! We ordered some margaritas and even though they were out of my favorite patron they had an amazing substitute! No appetizers were ordered however they brought out some great pita bread and another little dish that I posted. The entrees we choose were the stuffed chicken breast and the lamb burger! DELICIOUS! Both entrees were cooked to perfection and we had no need for a to-go box! I couldn't even save none for later if I tried! All in all I would say I will most definitely be returning on my next trip to Atlanta! Kudos to Basil's !

Basil's is one of those restaurants whose prices are too expensive for the taste of the food. Mediterranean chicken - chicken was tender, sauce was good, but not awesome. Confusing blend of sun-dried tomato, black olives, and goat cheese.

Nice restaurant. They have complimentary valet which is nice on a street that doesn't have much room for parking. The atmosphere is very nice. The patio is very large and cool due to the amount of trees and very large umbrellas. It is also not very busy during lunch time it seems so it's nice to got to a nice restaurant without being surrounded from people. The menu is not attractive at all and makes it hard to look through to decide what you want. Our waiter was very kind and very attentive. We were brought a complimentary appetizer of the, "house pizza". It was not good at all. When my food came out, I had a smile on my face because the food looked great. I quickly dug in and was very impressed. My dish was excellent! I also tried some of the other food at the table (fish tacos and some tomato pasta dish) and thought those were good as well. Overall, friendly staff, good food, and decent prices. Would recommend.

Came for dinner and thought this place was ok service wise, but a few things were frustrating. - my wine had lots of tiny pieces of corkscrew floating in it - on the scallop dinner entree, I got three small scallops on the plate, which is absolutely absurd given the price - parking is very difficult and not a lot of spaces. The spaces that are there are narrow and on a hilly slope. I was very concerned leaving my car there. - the entrees were simply not that good. The grits were worse than average, scallops were ok and hummus wasn't that great either. - the menu had a number of prices that were simply scratched out with a new price printed over. Seriously guys, is it that much effort to reprint a menu when you are changing the price? Overall, would not return here.

8/26/13 Lunch. At one time living just a few blocks from Basil's this was a place for dinning on a regular basis. After moving a few times I return once in awhile hoping it still tastes as good and maybe find new things on the menu. On the last visit the new waitress (2 days old) tried to be as helpful as possible while the kitchen & owner/ manager was screwing both of us on service. After asking several questions of which she would have to get answers too I settled on the Pecan crusted Grouper this was to come with couscous and a mango marmalade. We changed the sauce to a butter, caper, lemon not being a fan of sweets on meat, fish or fowl. Several minutes later she reappears and informs me that they are out of couscous then settled on jasmine rice & snow peas as sides & she disappears. Time passes another waitress is leaving and saw me looking around I asked for "bread and forks" as there were non in front of me. At this time the owner/manager was only feet away lecturing an employee about drinking while he was going on a two day trip out of town when he was drinking a bottle of wine himself. A bit later lunch comes out and looks *Good* the complimentary pizza bread was dropped off just after (Skip it plain bread would be a better choice.) The fish was tasty but after a couple of bites noticed there was "no crust" and asked the waitress about it, after investigating she was told because the sauce was changed the kitchen took it upon itself to change the preparation of the fish altogether thanks for "cluing me in." The poor girl was trying so hard I felt bad for her she offered to change it and chose to keep the fish the way it was. While finishing lunch I ordered a "Hot Mezza" to go (several different appetizers), when I opened the box found whom ever "packed this" had crammed everything into one box NOTHING was recognizable and was covered in a white sauce that should have been put on the side, this was sent back. Payment - Well I was going to use the Scout Mob deal, when given the bill stated this the waitress didn't know how to use it, she talked to the owner/manager (who kept using her as a messenger) he said that it was only good for "lunch on Saturdays and Sundays" then finally came to the table himself. After reading that the deal does not state this he seemed to be getting agitated I was ready to pay and leave, (he chose not to take payment) after offering again to pay with card in hand & standing at the bar he moved his wine then stated that he "was buying my lunch today and was going to call Scout Mob." O.K., time to tip and go. I've been a customer since the 90's and this is the first and only time drama has been a side dish to a meal at Basil's but if it happens again trust me it will be my last.

Hands down my favorite Mediterranean restaurant in Atlanta. In terms of atmosphere, the restaurant is more of a quiet date-night type of place rather than a place you would want to go to with a large group. I have yet to try the entrees, but so far my experience with the tapas has been great and none have disappointed. My recommendations: the Mushroom Flatbread, the Panko Green Beans, and the Caprese. Also a plus...if you're vegetarian, this place has plenty of options for you!

Food was great. It was valentines day dinner. Fhey overbooked everyone. Each of us had to wait at least hour - hour and half. I can tell that workers were alai busy and didn't know what was going on but... come on~ we got outlr food then I had to ask twice for silverwares, water and napkins. Waitress also charged drink that we didn't even drink. But food.. wow I loved it! If the food was bad I wouldn't even have given them any stars but bc of their food 3 stars!!!! Btw, they neveelr asked my husband and other tables how they would like their steak cooked... some had to asked the waitress to take it back. Anyways bad experience but good food and bad service. But I might try them again when they are not busy at all :)

Basil's is quite good for a low key dinner - especially if you the weather's good enough to lounge outside on the patio. That's the only way I've experienced it every time I've gone, and in my opinion it's the only way. Since this place is tucked away off Pharr Rd, it's well shielded from the busy traffic whizzing by on Piedmont, and is surrounded by nice, lush landscaping. A natural oasis in the middle of urban Buckhead. It's not the largest space by far - the last time I was there, my party of three was seated next to a family dinner of about 8 and while we dined another large party came and milled around with drinks before enough tables opened up to be pulled together for them. I agree with some of the other Yelpers, that the service isn't the most attentive, but it also isn't horrible - just sort of middle of the road. It didn't really detract from my personal experience though. One thing I enjoyed was the tiny pizza-type appetizer brought to our table instead of the traditional bread basket. I don't know what kind of tomato sauce or oil was drizzled on top, but it was great. We asked for another helping without much embarrassment before our entrees arrived. Every time I've gone I've only gotten one thing: Spanish paella. It's almost a given that when it's on the menu, I'll be ordering it. And it hasn't disappointed - creamy rice, well cooked chicken and sausage with a hint of heat and saffron I can taste. Parking's not too bad around the restaurant either. You can find street parking sometimes or if there's none to be had, backtracking to the parking lot next door is always an option. The walk to the restaurant is a short walk from there. Like I said in the beginning, it's more casual and laid back, but if you're in the mood for that with some good Mediterranean food - go for it.

Delicious. I love food so I know when I put something great in my mouth. The BBQd Salmon with jalepeno cheese grits are for a lack of better words, THE SHIT! Basil chicken salad was good to but very oniony. Unfortunately I can't give it 5 stars because the customer service left just a smidge to be desired. Anyway...I'm coming back for sure. The deck made the lunch experience even better.

I Work in the neighborhood, stopped by for dinner. We needed reservations but didn't Know. They promptly found us a cozy seat for two. I wasn't very hungry so we just orders appetizers... Very good! I'll be back for dinner soon . Gets crowded on Saturday nights and the space is small, That's my only complaint.

My experience at Basil was fantastic! Authentic Mediterranean food with a relaxing atmosphere. I went there for a wedding reception and tried a lot of different items on the menu: hummus, baba ganoush, kibbeh, etc. I sipped on Arak most of the night as well, making the night all that much better. Although we were a large party the servers had no problems catering to everyone's request and needs. We wanted a little more olive oil: came right out, without question. A glass of purified water without ice to mix the Arak: not a problem! I will be back to Basil and recommend it to my friends and family! Thanks are in order to the Team at Basil for a great dining experience.

It was a gamble making a reservation for 10+ people for my friend's birthday dinner here, but it was a quaint and cozy atmosphere, the perfect place to enjoy food, drink, and conversation on the cusp of cold weather. The service was friendly and quick, flawless really. The food was not outstanding, hence 4 stars instead of 5. I would definitely recommend this place for a relaxed, but classy group meal. I am still searching for Atlanta's best hummus...

Hidden on Grandview just a couple of blocks from Peachtree, Basil's is a great find. On my first visit after ordering the Lamb Ribs with cilantro lime slaw I overheard a lady at a table next to me proclaim her ravioli was the best she had tasted since a trip.to New York in 1968! The appetizer of a mixed mushroom flatbread with a truffle oil was superb. The ribs smoked to perfection and served off the grill were fantastic and the slaw would be a unique welcome at any southern BBQ. On subsequent visits I have dined on pork tenderloin, lamb burgers and more... I'll be back for the ravioli soon!

I LOVE this new spot in Buckhead! Nestled away on a small street I have never even heard of (but I haven't lived here long so take that for what it is). Romantic scene complete with an adorable patio and a guitarist playing in the background. Now onto the food...we got a bunch of tapas to share as a good way to try out a place we haven't been to. We got the smoked salmon flatbrad, hummus, babaganoush, and fried calamari. The baba was the best, followed by the calamari, hummus (nothing special) and lastly the salmon (yuk!). I had high hopes for the salmon but be warned it is like a lox type not what we were expecting at all. My friend had a piece, didn't care for it so I chose to skip it all together. Other than that, everything was yummy and I will definitely be back. Love cute new neighborhood spots!

My family (10 people) took me to celebrate my Birthday. The food was great the service was good and the music was lovely !! We were having a nice time but the owner put a damper on the evening, was so nasty he repeatedly kept telling the server to go and clear our table while we were still finishing our drinks and dessert !!!! The help came to us and apologized for his behavior !!! UNIMAGINABLE !!! Will never go back there EVER AGAIN.. I am sure after spending all that money we can do better than that kind of treatment !!!

$26 corkage, slow service from Lizzy, undercooked chicken, not a good night at Basils, but I have leapt to my conclusion. We had a drink at the bar, which is fine but the real attraction to Basils is the giant outdoor deck, half of which is covered. We are regulars (although Yelp gives me five check ins and says I'm not what they call a regular...does anyone else notice the latest Yelp release is buggy, I mean "quirky"?) and often bring wine. In fact one of my local wine buyers recently threw a wine tasting at Basil's, so you'd think Joseph (the owner) would be wine friendly. Unfortunately Joseph's policy is that if you bring in a bottle of wie he charges you $TWENTY SIX big ones to open it. For $26 we did not get a decanted wine, we got a cork screw. Classless service. This evening our table reservations were ready thirty minutes late and the waitress was ten more minutes to get to us, because she was warming a coffee. When she got to us, we ordered mushroom flatbread and caprese salads. The salads were nice, with particularly aromatic basil (glad they got that right) but the mozzarella was a bit wanting, too gelatinous and with a heavy skin that one had to cut. The flatbread this evening was overly sauced, so it was soft - not crisp and too heavy. This was disappointing. Usually it s delightful. Then came the hot mezze plate. This is a scoop of lentil rice, a chicken kabob, beef kabob and a piece of lamb. The chicken was uncooked, so literally PINK inside. We sent back the chicken and she offered to discount the price (although she didn't). The beef was well-seasoned but rare and a poor cut of meat, more like stew meat cut. It took a great deal of carving. The lamb was similar and I didn't waste the time and just threw it away. Moreover, throughout the meal -- despite being here over ten times in the past 18 months -- Joseph never checked in with us. He sat at the bar most of the meal. I guess it was a hard day, and he didn't want to bother with customers. So this is my adieu to Joseph and Basil's. I can handle slow service, gelatinous mozzarella, undercooked kabob (though not chicken), poor cuts of steak and a spacey waitress who lies about discounting our ticket because of risking our health with salmonella exposure...I have a thick skin for execution errors. What REALLY bugs me; what really torques me: $26 to open a bottle of wine? $26 corkage is the highest I know of in Atlanta. Bones for example charges $TEN, yep just $10. Joseph didn't have it decanted. He doesn't have nice stemware matched to varietal. Nope, this s just straight to his pockets. Moreover, he charged us $26 corkage despite us having a round of cocktails at the bar. Many managers give you a real if you buy drinks. Look, I know restaurateurs need to make money, and I know patrons abuse orange policies by stopping in to buy a bottle of Yellowtail for $6.99 and then carrying it in. My issue is that restauranteurs have to earn the right to mark up their wine 200%. Research it, buy it, hold it, offer it when ready. At Basil's the wine list is OK at best but it's overpriced for OK. The wines are all mass market wines that came in from the distributor that week. Most are not ready to drink, or if they are it's because they are sub $20 retail bottles that Joseph is offering for over $50. I'm going to places where I can carry in my carefully selected wine, and I'm carrying it into places that don't expect $20+ for doing nothing but managing a corkscrew. Good bye Joseph.

Don't think I could have chosen a better spot for my wife and I's 4th year anniversary of happily ever after. Excellent food, reasonable price, great casual and friendly service with very helpful suggestions, and supremely accommodating. My wife and I didn't have a sitter so our 2 year old son joined us for dinner, and I thought the location and setting was very charming, cozy, and comfortable for all of us. My wife and I enjoyed a mushroom flatbread for appetizer (yum), scallop dish entree (yum), and grouper fish special entree (yum), and for dessert (creme brullet).. oh, and let us not forget, two ICE cold waters. Sean, our waiter was very friendly and helpful throughout the entire process and I didn't have to call for a waiter once.. (repeat) not even once. He was there regularly to give refills on drinks and was just overall a very friendly and cool dude. This other girl that worked there and greeted & seated us was also really cool.. she kind of reminded me of that actress from the Transformer 1 & 2 movies. I would recommend this place to my yelp friends and those who are looking for a good seafood / Mediterranean (sp?) restaurant with a reasonable price. The only negative thing I can say about this place is that the 3.5 star average count and negative reviews can really throw you off if you've never been to this place before. We were given a hearty recommendation by one of our customers at our Buckhead store, so my wife and I put this establishment on our radar as places to consider. However, I was somewhat deterred from giving this place a try initially from the negative reviews; our experience really gave us no reason to dock any stars. I haven't tried some of the other nearby places, but on its own, my family and I were very happy with our choice. We will be back and will recommend this place to others as we are doing now. Keep up the good work and have a positive day guys.

Full disclosure - I've only come here when it wasn't super busy, so I can't speak for the service or the atmosphere when it's packed. Been here for brunch and dinner. The servers both times were great, really personable and really helpful. The mushroom flatbread is awesome, and this place probably has the best grits I've ever had (that's coming from a native Southerner). The skillet potatoes were also fantastic!

I met a couple of friends here for dinner on a Saturday night. I had made a reservation and would have enjoyed sitting on the large patio but all tables were taken so we sat inside. I loved the cozy atmosphere of the house and warm colors of the dining room. The walls are decorated with art work from local artists and are for purchase. The menu is limited and thoughtful. However, they had several specials. We started out with Spinakopita and the Shrimp and Crabmeat Spring Rolls. I didn't try the Spinakopita but the springs rolls were very good. I also had the Greek Salad. The romaine was crisp and the feta cheese was fresh and the lemon vinaigrette made for a refreshing and light salad. My main was the lamb shank special. It was delicious - very tender and flavorful. Sides were green beans and broccoli and mashed potatoes. Veggies were cooked al dente and potatoes were rich and creamy. My friend got the paella and said it was "okay". I think he envied my entree. We ordered a bottle of sauvignon blanc to enjoy with our starters. Wish I could remember the name as it was very good and the price point reasonable. We also brought a bottle of Wild Boar cabernet sauvignon to enjoy with our entrees. Corkage fee is $20. The service was excellent. Our server was very knowledgeable about the wine and food menu and was attentive but not intrusive. I'm definitely a fan of Basil's and look forward to dining here again.

So, lunch this time. He was already there, and it was close to 2 pm. They close between lunch and dinner (see my last review re the whole you're-here-too-early-thing . . . BAH) Nice enough server, and I may have a new PROMOVE client as his sister is moving to Atlanta . . . wish he'd told us his name . . . Good calamari. Quite good. They describe the marinara as "with cumin," but I didn't really taste that. Since we were on the late end of their lunch (they close at 2:30, kitchen-wise) we went for a quick choice of the mushroom flatbread. It was too greasy for me, so I just picked at a few bites of mushroom - he had a full piece - and we enjoyed the nice patio. Nice afternoon, good service, might give another shot to see how the best-of-three goes!

This place was fantastic! I had no problems getting a reservation for 4 on a Friday evening; we had a great table on the patio. Shared the hummus platter for an appetizer which was delicious; they featured 3 seafood entrees for their evening specials and all were absolutely fantastic. I had the pecan crusted grouper which I highly recommend. I read reviews about issues with the waitstaff but our waitress was very attentive and friendly so I have no complaints. I would definitely come back!

We went to Basils last night and were not really expecting much. Everything turned out to be spectacular. There is a decent wine selection, great service, and excellent food. The menu is a little small but we had no trouble finding stuff to order. I would definitely recommend this is a sit and relax kind of dining experience- not a get in get out.

Very tasty! I used Scout Mob to try it out the first time. It is off the beaten path so it is nice and relaxing to get away from the hustle and bustle of Buckhead. The patio is so relaxing when the weather is nice. The prices could use lowering, but, thanks to Scout Mob, it was much more affordable. I strongly recommend the mezzo platter to start with and then any of their fish dishes. Extremely tasty! I really hope more people try the place out so they get more business. Because it is off the beaten path, I worry they might not get enough business. Most times I have been there I have only seen one or two other small groups dining there. Maybe I just went on off nights, but who knows.

Decided to try this place out for Buckhead Restaurant week. I must say I was NOT impressed. I would say overall EVERYTHING was average at best. First, there is some random guy acting as valet. He has no uniform, no name tag, nothing that tells you he is valet other than he happens to be next to a valet sign. I ended up parking my own car before I even realized there was a person on duty. Side note: the valet system is sheets of paper cut up with numbers written on them in pen. Good thing the parking lot is small otherwise your care could get lost. Added bonus: once inside this same "valet" poured the water for our table. Oh and the guy is a TERRIBLE driver...would never give him my keys Back to inside....it was self seating, which is not a bad thing. The inside is nice and the patio is a great place to sit in spring and summer nights im sure. We opted for inside. To make a long story short, the service was but courteous (not friendly), the food was mediocre at best (have you even had paella in a soup??? me either until basils). the lamb was well cooked but had NO SEASONING. mashed potatoes were instant. Would I go here again?? No there are tooooo many other options.

Been going to Basil's for years and always had a memorable meal and dining experience. Until this past Valentine's Day. I let the valet park my car then realized later that the front bumper had been practically torn from the car. After showing the vehicle to Basil's management there has been no show of responsibility (blamed the valet service who has been unaccountable). No moral responsibility, no more of my business.

I stumbled upon this restaurant using a ScoutMob deal. Boy am I glad that I did.... I started with the baba ghanoush. It was out of this world delicious and there was a large amount of it. I ran out of pita bread and was offered more without having to ask. A+ For my main entree I had the special for that day - BBQ Salmon and Jalapeno Grits. I was in heaven. I don't even like grits (I only had them once at a Waffle House in Pennsylvania). Since I am from the northeast I wanted to give grits another try while I was in the south. SO GOOD. The salmon was cooked PERFECTLY and was warm, moist, flaky and full of flavor. I can't wait to go back! They also had a lovely outdoor seating area.

I WILL NEVER ADVISE ANYONE TO EAT HERE BECAUSE OF THE LEVEL OF SERVICE I RECEIVED FOLLOWING THE LOSS AND CHARGES TO MY CREDIT CARD WITH NO APOLOGY!!! I found Basil's a little hard to find located off the Buckhead strip of red lights and parking lots, but I did enjoy self parking and not having to pay for a lot. As soon as I walked in I noticed that the cozy atmosphere made me feel like I was in a friend's home. There didn't appear to be more than 15 tables inside giving it that quaint feeling. Immediately and probably by accident, I was greeted by Beaux, a handsome gentleman that would later be our server. For the first time, I was not the first to arrive. Pleased to see one of my girlfriends was also ten minutes early, I joined her at the bar. We ordered drinks from the bartender, Sean, who also gave us privy to the menu additions that evening. There was a pan seared Snapper, an Ahi Tuna with vegetable risotto, and bacon wrapped scallops with jalapeno cheese grits. Right away, I knew that the scallops were my destiny. As the other ladies trickled in, we sat down at our reserved table. I am very happy that I made a reservation because the entire place was filled by 7:30pm and once again we had our round table where we could see and be seen. As if it was a tradition, we asked Beaux for two bottles of wine that were moderately priced. He succeeded by delivering something medium bodied with a smooth finish. Within minutes of our table being complete Joe, the proprietor, who couldn't have been more delightful, greeted us. He sent over an appetizer of calamari that was completely devoured in minutes. Joe loves treating his guests and although it is not really included in our quest, anything free is a huge perk! The tomato and mozzarella salad was small but decadent and the balsamic vinaigrette that was drizzled on top tasted as good as it looked. My entree of bacon wrapped scallops still makes my mouth water as I write this. The scallops were cooked perfectly and everyone at the table enjoyed sharing the jalapeno cheese grits! The vegetable risotto from the Ahi tuna dish was also unforgettable. Too bad that the food here is good but they lost my debit card and charged me $400 that pended for 5 business days! I will never go back. There are plenty of top notch restaurants that don't mishandle their guest's bank information and cause them the headache of changing their banking information on countless accounts. I WILL NEVER ADVISE ANYONE TO EAT HERE BECAUSE OF THE LEVEL OF SERVICE I RECEIVED FOLLOWING THE LOSS AND CHARGES TO MY CREDIT CARD WITH NO APOLOGY!!!

Took my girlfriend here for Saturday dinner date, we sat on the outdoor patio overlooking Anis. What a great spot. Service was good, but almost too good....kind of annoying that the waiter kept interrupting the meal with questions etc. What was ordered: We split the caprese salad (really good) and the hot mezze platter with beef/lamb/chicken kabobs (awesome). The flavor was fantastic, and I will be going back for sure. Not too expensive either.

Basil's is a surprising oasis in Buckhead just a half block off busy Pharr Rd NE. The outdoor terrace with large surrounding trees was a welcomed spot to relax and enjoy a warm southern summer evening. Our group of 13 had the attention of the manager, so the service was excellent. As I went through the menu I couldn't tell what the restaurant's POV was, but I guess calling yourself Greek, American (New), and Mediterranean covers quite a few bases, but still doesn't give any real clarity. I decided on the Spanish Paella with fresh fish, mussels, grilled chicken, Italian sausage in a saffron broth and jasmine rice. Calling it Spanish Paella just rubs me the wrong way, it should simply be Paella. Paella is inherently Spanish and is a given; just like saying Ahi Tuna, Ahi is tuna, saying tuna tuna makes no sense - but I digress - the paella was fairly good, but too many liberties were taken. Everything should be cooked in saffron, but the chicken was grilled, the rice was plain, and using Italian sausage is just wrong. The broth was a shade salty, and there a touch of chili heat. The fish was perfectly cooked. I don't think I would be so offended if they called it Paella Basil's or something, which would tip me off that it's their own twist. But don't get me wrong, I did enjoy Basil's. It's a nice place in a convenient spot, doing it's own independent thing.

Our experience? Food, okay. Service, baaaaad. I have no doubt that service is usually not as it was the night we were there, but service is a big part of the experience when it comes to eating out, isn't it? Basil's is tucked away on a quiet little street, and the outdoor patio is very pretty, especially for a summer evening. The waitresses are very causally dressed; it's almost as if you're in their home and they're serving you, but I don't mean this in the good way. She was .. nice? But not professional. We had to wait a while to get a menu, (which, from reading some other reviews, apparently waiting is part of the game for many folks!), and once we did, I felt rushed to make a decision even though we told our waitress we'd never been there before. The food was okay, not very memorable, but not terrible. We shared everything. We started off the with tomato mozarella salad and the mushroom flatbread. The salad was typical for its kind, and the flatbread was good, loaded with mushrooms, but it was way too rich. Next up was the pork loin for us to share. And we waited... And waited.... And were told it was on its way... And waited... And were told it was on its way... And waited... And watched our waitress talk on the phone.... And make drinks and get other people's checks... And waited... FInally the food came -- there was no apology for the wait, nothing. The food was good -- the pork was tender -- but I'm still not sure that made it worth the wait. The best part was when the waitress came to get the check and she was on her phone, as as she walked away, she lamented about having to be at work.. and when she came back, she was still on the phone but pulled it away from her ear to give a VERY quick "thanksforcomingbye!". Eh...

We decided to give Basil's a go because of the appealing patio but with Anis literally less than 20 feet away, we learned that going to Basil's is huge mistake The night started off with me having to approach a manager after over 20 minutes with no service. The server later told us he had confused us with the couple that had been sitting at that table earlier. Logical story if he normally doesn't check on his tables for 20 minutes or longer at a time. After getting the managers attention, he promptly had our server come right over. This guy seemed apathetic about his job and even complained to us about the cheesy cover artist they had playing a set in the background. I would have to agree, the songs were terrible and server told us he plays the same set every night. We ordered the mussles appetizer on our own, but we were also given a free mushroom crostini for our wait. I am not one to ask for free food and it was a nice attempt at service recovery. However, I didn't really want two appetizers, it would have been nicer to take care of what we actually ordered. Once the mussels arrived, I was excited to put the bad experience all behind me and start fresh. Unfortunately I believe this was the first time we have ever been out and not been able to finish our bowl. I ate two or three and was done. These had zero flavor. Next I ordered the scallops - my favorite food. I could barely finish two. The flavor was poor and the sauce left a strange coating on the inside of my mouth. I won't be going back.

My last experience: Food, 1 star. Service, 2 star. Atmosphere, casual. Basil's is across from Anis. They have both been around for years. After eating at both restaurants for years, I have finally given up on Basil. Anis is still in my to-go list. At Basil the food quality is getting worse. To give them the credit, their prices are reasonable. The outdoor patio, once was very pretty, is filthy and needs a face-lift. Talking about facelift, look at the kitchen (the kitchen door is always open) while you are parking your car in the back of the restaurant, oh my God, DIRTY. The servers kind of know the menu, but are clueless about service. They are nice but not professional.

Unspectacular at best. You start off with some type of olive flatbread which is interesting I guess. The linguini checca was decent, has good flavor, nice chunks of chicken, and a little stingy on the mozzarella. At $13 this is too expensive for a lunch pasta. Decent, but not at that price. On the flip side, they have a Prosciutto Mozzarella Panini that was a complete disaster. I don't know what to make of it. First, the prosciutto was of low quality, it had more of a standard ham taste (yes, I know it is ham but if you are a fan of prosciutto you understand what I am saying here), it was cut too thick and was chewy. A great prosciutto melts in your mouth. The mozzarella...I kid you not...was of the deli sliced variety. How could you not be using bufala here? On top of this, it was completely over-spiced with I don't know what, maybe to mask the flavor of the sub-par ingredients. This place really deserves 2 stars based on the panini alone, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt that everything else on the menu is MUCH BETTER.

I'll be honest, the only reason a friend and I picked Basil's to dine at was because of the Scoutmob. I've lived in the Atlanta area all my life, Buckhead for the past few years and never even heard of Basil's. And I am so glad that they participated in the Scoutmob deals because this place is amazing! We got to dinner about 7:30 and we're initially annoyed because the valet was no where to be found. And there is pretty much zero street parking so we weren't sure what to do. A few minutes later the valet pops up, he had been jumping someones car that had a dead battery- how sweet! After getting the car taken care of we walked in and I was surprised at how big the restaurant was. It's in one of these homes that look tiny from the street but are very deceiving. Anyways, it was not half full which was a little surprising considering the Scoutmob came out earlier this month. So we got a table right away and ordered some wine. The waitress was very knowledgeable about the wines and recommended a delish white blend. Time for food- I had the BBQ Salmon and it was amazing. I never finish an entree and I ate every last bit, pretty much wanted to lick the plate it was that good. The jalapeno cheese grits worried me a bit at first, I didn't want something super spicy but they were perfect. I was too busy cleaning my plate to try my friend's food but she had nothing but good things to say about the basil pasta. I will say our server was not 100% attentive, especially considering the lack of other diners, but that was actually not a problem for me. We were catching up and gossiping so it was nice to not have someone poking their head in every few minutes. All in all, I can't wait to go back!

2/15/11 - The reviews in terms of the food are awesome so maybe I just don't like Mediterranean. I thought the flat bread was delicious but my Greek pizza while beautiful I just didn't enjoy the flavors. The place was quaint and cozy and the service was wonderful. Maybe I will go back for brunch and give it another try. I went during lunch. UPDATE: Boy am I glad I gave this place another try! The food is very good. I wasn't satisfied the first time simply because I didn't enjoy the mix of flavors presented but this time I had something different for lunch....bbq salmon and boy oh boy was it good. It was sweet and crispy on the outside. I never had salmon like this before and I am not a salmon fan but I'd order this again. Also, for appetizer we had the hummus...the best I'd ever tasted. This may be my new lunch spot.

If you need a brief review, this is it: just go to Anis, right next door. My girlfriend and I became aware of Basil's while enjoying a fantastic experience and meal at Anis a couple of weeks ago. Surveying the surroundings, we noticed Basil's right across the street. Though we'd never heard of it, we decided that we would give it a try in the near future, as the patio looked great, and we both love trying new places. Tonight, we went to Basil's for the first and last time. Our experience was marred from the start, as we were seated, but then not approached by a waiter for at least 15 minutes. After finally having to approach the manager, we were given a waiter, an appetizer of mushroom crostini on the house, salads on the house, and an apology. Great service recovery, and I commend them for that. However, the food just completely missed the mark, and the live entertainment (a guy on his guitar playing terrible covers of terrible songs) was like nails on a chalk board. According to the waiter, the guy plays almost every night, and plays the same set every time. Not exactly a way to get people to want to come back over and over. The flatbread and mushroom crostini were the only dishes we were able to finish.. We also tried the mussels, which were in a very uninspired butter-white wine broth, and about 7 of them had not opened up. The ones that had opened were stringy, fishy meat.. didn't look or taste fresh. We are huge fans of mussels, and could only eat a few of these before giving up. We tried the house salad and a caesar.. bad dressing, and the caesar salad was so finely chopped up, it made it difficult to get on a fork. My girlfriend had the scallops, recommended to us by the waiter. Again, she is a huge fan of scallops, but could only eat two. I had the special, which was snapper. Again, missed the mark. Out of the whole experience, the only positive was Cakebread Chardonnay on the wine list.. cheers to that. I am shocked to see so many good reviews of this place. Though I guess it's possible we came on a bad night, and I am the type of person who usually gives places a second chance... I won't be able to bring myself to do it, when Anis is a stone's throw away.

My boyfriend and I came here using scout mob. Which was a great deal! We loved the outside deck and live music. The service and food were good. But the atmosphere was the best part. Definitely a place to check out.

Reviewing Brunch. The filet mignon and eggs benedict was amazing. I nearly licked the plate the hollandaise was so perfect. The eggs exploded and soaked into the english muffin and it turned messy quickly but I would order it again and again. The grits were different and also extremely good. If I had to guess, it was a white cheddar with jalapeños that gave them their flavor. The skillet potatoes were top notch and charred just the way I like them. One of my daughters had french toast that was near perfect. My mother-in-law had an omelet and loved it. The "breads" on the table (apple/cinnamon, chocolate/chocolate chip, banana/walnut) were a wonderful addition to the meal. The reason this doesn't get 5 stars is due to the rest of my family. My wife felt that there was a spice in her omelet (crab/shrimp) that overpowered the rest of the flavor. She loved the rest. My father-in-law doesn't like oregano and the panini had lots of it which threw him. That doesn't mean it wasn't good for people that like or don't mind oregano. But the real failure was probably the pancakes which were very, very dry. With syrup, they weren't bad but they needed work. I will go back for sure though. If for nothing else but the hollandaise.

Basil's is the perfect neighborhood go-to spot. First of all, their jalapeño cheese grits are incredible. Like, they're amazing. You have to go, and you must get them. I was there recently for dinner, and I almost passed out when our waiter announced the nightly special: Bacon-Wrapped Scallops served with a side of the grits. I love bacon-wrapped anything, first of all, so I was totally sold. The dish was amazing and I think/talk about it often. Their brunch is great, too - yummy omelettes and, of course, the grits, and their patio is one of the best in B-head. Oh, and they have a delicious Vinho Verde that is light and delicious and sells for $26/bottle. The service is decent - the waiters are definitely really friendly, but it's not always super-speedy...the owner is very hands-on and even brought my friends and I dishes to try that he was having the chef try out. Granted it was a slow lunch day, but it was still cool.

Food was good but not as good as usual. Unfortunately, the service was terrible! We were seated in a corner and essentially ignored all night. Every refill we had to be requested (and even that didn't work sometimes). Complained to the waitress and the owner. The owner was very nonchalant and made excuses. He did nothing to improve the situation. I was there with friends for Restaurant Week. They had never been there before and will never go back after that. Even the food was not the same. You could tell they had cut corners. Restaurant week is supposed to be about showcasing the best you have to offer. I may get over it and go back in a few months. The other two members of my party will never be back.

Refreshingly independent with friendly staff and a comfortable deck. It's not an iron chef winner nor a trendy chic see and be seen place it just a nice easy laid back destination to eat where everything is done with respect for the independent dining experience and not following some corporate or franchise directive. Go to relax and and enjoy who you're with.

The restaurant is located in a converted residence. So it has a nice "homey" feeling. We were seated on the deck, and the weather could not have been nicer. That open air atmosphere under the trees really made the meal. Our server was pleasant and efficient. The food was very good overall. I think the mashed potatoes may have come from a box. But they were at least seasoned and tasted good. The stuffed chicken breast was great. As was the lamb. Overall I would say that the pricing was a bit too high. But the atmosphere really made up for it. I would dine here again.

Went here for a friend's bridal shower. The patio looked to be really nice and all the food and drinks were terrific. I had the sangria, spanikopita, and a goat cheese and fig pizza. It was all excellent and I can't wait to try this restaurant again.

Enjoyed $20 all you can eat tapas tonight with a girlfriend. We had greek salads, green beans, crab fritters, calamari, and shrimp/crab rolls. The service was excellent. The tapas selections were plentiful. We will come again!

FREAKING AWESOME... I don't even know how to describe the flavors that hit my tongue, but they were awesome... I LOVED LOVED LOVED this place. I was celebrating my 1 year wedding anniversary.. We ate outside, and though I was attacked by a 2 inch catepillar, dinner was so amazing.. I don't remember the name of our server (I do know he was from Ethiopia) but he was awesome and very polite.. 1. The flatbreat that they bring out to you when you first arrive is AMAZING 2. If I a can recall, I had the grilled shrimp over saffron rice... finger-licking good PLEASE VISIT

A unique experience! Very authentic atmosphere in a Buckhead neighborhood. Their patio is the best in Atlanta. Sit under oak tree with flower beds all around you and enjoy mediterranean cuisine. If you have never been then wait for a nice warm day or night and sit out on patio.

Took my wife here for Valentine's day, and initially thought it was going to be a disaster. Showed up just before our reservation time, and was told there would be a 40 minute wait. Apparently, the owner had a problem with Opentable reservation system, and it was still taking reservations even though he had shut it down multiple times. But the owner handled it great, put out appetizers etc. Even with the overwhelming crowd, it actually only took 20 minutes to get a table, and the food was amazing! My wife had lamb chops that were just perfectly cooked, and seasoned with a mint rub that was awesome. I was in the mood for a steak and had one of the best Ribeyes I have ever had. We both had grilled asparagus and a-gratin potatoes, both of them were perfect. Service was also fantastic. If the owner, chef, and wait staff can perform like this under such circumstances, imagine how good it must be under normal circumstances.

Prompted to try basil's through a scoutmob deal. While the food wasn't bad, the service was definitely sub-par. On street parking is tough to find in that area, so we parked with the valet. On the way home I discovered that my prescription medication which was in the console was missing. I immediately phoned the owner, who took down my information. Unfortunately I received no call back. As most of us know, when an owner takes that attitude, there is usually much more going on. Visit at your own risk.

Cockroach on the table. Was not even offered a discount or courtesy free dinner. Can not recommend to go here. After dinner was served, cockroach came in from no where. Was just ridiculous. Owner ( probably ) showed up and wanted to offer I thought but never did anything

My brother-in-law and sister-in-law had their rehearsal dinner at Basils, and it was excellent! The food was amazing, and the service was great, too. I loved their covered deck area; although it rained the entire night, we still got to experience a lovely dinner outdoors.

Love this little gem, hidden in Buckhead. Charming, cozy and great service and wonderful food. Then there is the patio...you'll feel like you're on vacation.

Economy be damned, we visited Basil's for a team Holiday lunch during the workweek. In all honesty I'm not a big fan of dining in Buckhead. Despite having worked in Buckhead for the last 5 years I've never felt like i can locate affordable but good dining - it always seems pretentious and uber-expensive. Admittedly, I've also suspected that I'm actually the pretentious one, insisting that downtown is the bees knees, and Basil's is proof of my suspicion and that tasty dining can be found in Buckhead for us common folk. And did i just use uber in a sentence? *rolls eyes at self, makes wanking motion* Located on the same side street as Anis, you have probably driven past before without even noticing. From the street Basil's reminds me very much of the Portofino layout - an older house with a large front porch dining area. I half expected to walk in on a taping of "housewives" but it was pretty quiet. The restaurant is very cozy, the aforementioned patio is heated and inside is a small bar and maybe a dozen or so tables. I'd suggest inside near the fireplace if you have a table of 4 or less. Quaint, country-style artwork lined the walls when we visited. We were immediately seated by the hostess/bartender/server. I'd assume that lunch is typically slow for them given the small staff, which isn't to suggest that it wasn't sufficient. Translation: Quick seating. Just be sure to mention your time restrictions if you have any. The staff seemed accustomed to serving a slower-paced lunch but perked up once we made it clear that we didn't have all afternoon. Up against a meeting, we tried to order swiftly. I ordered the salmon on jalapeno cheese grits, the girls split a salad and Italian pizza with, and boss man had a panini. We all ordered a glass of wine each. We're in advertising, so why not play like Madmen, right? The grits were quite good (albeit not outstanding) and the bbq salmon was superb, with sauteed spinach on top. Perfectly moist yet flaky. The girls enjoyed the salad and the pizza, although i suspect the prosciutto was a little strong for their taste (i loved the slice i tried). Boss gobbled his sammy and chips like a bear before before hibernation so it must have been good. I'd absolutely suggest Basil's for a quick (1hr) business lunch. It wasn't busy, the food came quickly, and even the nicer items on the menu were fairly priced between $10-$14. Once we made it clear to the server that we were in a slight rush she kept a good eye on us. The service wasn't over-the-top warm, but honestly i don't need a waiter leaning over my shoulder every ten minutes and interrupting conversation The total bill for the four of us was just at $107 including tip and a glass of wine for each of us. Not too shabby, and well worth it. Give it a shot for lunch, for sure.

I'm pretty sure that was Tony Soprano seated at the bar welcoming me to Basil's. I ordered the appetizer with hummus and some other delectable treats, very yummy. I was blown away by this shrimp and risotto dish. I was superbly impressed with the sweet tea- southern-strong-sweet!

We had a great evening for our high school reunion dinner. When I called Basil's to enquire about having a party of 25 for dinner , Joseph called me right back, invited me to come in a few days ahead to check out the menu and the atmosphere. I found it to be a great place, tucked away on a side street in the heart of Buckhead. They were very accommodating, worked with us on an affordable menu, and let us stay as long as we wanted with no additional room charge or banquet fee. Everyone at the reunion had a great time, loved the food and wine list. The service was excellent. They let us come in early and decorate our area. The guitarist who played on Saturday evening was fantastic. It is true that they have to have the best deck in Atlanta. Beautiful weather and ambience, great friends, great service, food and wine. We couldn't have asked for a better dining experience. Thanks Basil's and thanks Joseph! We will be back.

We had a wonderful lunch at Basil's Oct 29th. Our server "Bo" was warm and friendly. We had the mixed platter with delicious middle eastern salads! Grilled salmon and grits, and the trout! All amazing and clearly homemade! Can't wait to go back with my Scoutmob discount! Worth the drive! Our 2nd visit did not dissappoint! Fast and friendly service from Bo---and off to Cirque de Soleil to enjoy the show! Great espresso too.

Basil's is tucked away on Grandview Ave off of Pharr in Buckhead ~ a small converted house with a large patio (heated in the winter) and intimate dining room with fireplace inside. On a Tuesday night they were not offering valet parking, which was a bummer since it was pouring rain! Luckily my date was sweet enough to drop me off up front and then find a spot... When I walked in I was greeted immediately and asked where I would like to sit ~ since it was my first time I took a quick tour and decided on a table next to the fireplace! My date finally joined me after parking and we began surveying the extensive wine list. We decided on the Fire Road sauvignon blanc, I appreciate that our server brought out a bucket of ice to keep the wine cold, nothings worse than warm white wine! Our server then began rattling off several specials (at least 6) ~ everything sounded delicious but because there were so many I couldn't keep them straight. I would recommend that Basil's has there specials listed somewhere ~ either on a chalkboard or extra menu insert... For dinner I had the seared ahi tuna with vegetable risotto and a soy glaze ~ the tuna came out perfect, still pink in the center. The risotto was super creamy and full of veggies ~ I definitely cleaned my entire plate! The date had the pork tenderloin with mashed potatoes and broccoli ~ his meal was fine, but nothing to get excited about. Overall great experience!
