La-la-la-love! If I ever achieve my dream of owning a hunting lodge, I want it to look just like Argosy. It's dark and sultry inside with plenty of little nooks to hideaway in. The beer list is pretty good and they have a small but effective craft cocktail selection. I had a delicious shandy made from Allagash White that was a perfect summer drink. But the FOOD!! THE FOOD!!! I was a wee bit hangry and practically devoured the polenta cakes in one bite. They were delish! Then I dove into a tri-tip sandwich with a side of tarragon mustard potato salad. Whoa...SO GOOD! But the best part...the VERY BEST PART...was that the sandwich was on a Holeman and Finch bun. Words cannot describe how delicious and buttery this bun was. It is my reason for living. I love you Argosy. Truly, madly, deeply.

The food and service were amazing. My King and I were getting tattoos across the street and need a quick bite to eat before our appointment. We were seated very quickly. Our server was very nice and made sure he didn't abandon us or annoy us. I had a vegetarian burger made out of avocado. It was the BEST veggie patty ever. It was also SOY FREE! #winning My King had a pepperoni pizza and loved it too. I will be back soon.

Saw this holding down the #4 spot in Zagat's list Top 10 Burgers in Atlanta so my friend and I stopped in on a Wednesday night, 6:30 as part of our Atlanta Tour de Burger. Was relatively empty and parking was convenient. I realized they didn't open till 5 so might be why it was empty but by the time we left around 9:30, the place was full. We sat at he bar but thought the high tables and couch seating were impressive. Also have a size able outdoor seating area. Service was great from the get go. We had 4 different bartenders cater to us. They engaged us when appropriate but left us alone when they saw we were in conversation. Had the shrimp & crab dip, a hot dog w/ caramelized onions & pepper jack cheese sauce for apps and each got the Plancha burger since it is what made the Zagat list. Dip was the best thing we ate. Not that the hot dog and burger weren't great, the dip was just better...Dip was tangy and sweet, served piping hot in a petite skillet. The burger was delicious and as some of the other reviewers said, comparable to Bocado's...I actually like the patties of the Plancha better but the overall burger from Bocado barely edges it out...I mean barely... Now, where would I prefer to spend my evening? Argosy, hands down...and don't forget to try the fried apple pie... Wish I could've taken better pics but didn't want to be any more 'that guy' than I was already being...

I enjoyed this place, definitely a great selection of beers. The chicken sandwich was very good and girls were friendly

I was pleasantly surprised by Argosy. They're running a really good restaurant in an area that settles for just above average food. Sorry EAV folks, but your neighborly dives are just that, dives. The huge menu, well executed will keep me coming back.

Located in East Atlanta Village, we did brunch here recently. I ordered The Hasher and some alcoholic coffee beverage ...mmmmmm, brunch!

Great burger! I highly recommend the plancha burger. Great taste and flavor. Can't beat the price.

Can't believe I waited so long to get over here. Something for everyone, and if it isn't executed perfectly then it's damn close. Super-spacious interior that was actually over-air conditioned. Fast and friendly service, and the small mistake was graciously handled. Not a lot I can write down that hasn't already been said. I enjoyed the house-made hot dog, which was really refreshing because I refuse to eat the ones made by factory farms these days. The pizza was very capable, great flavor and good ingredients if a bit cold on presentation. The salads work. Fries are good. Veggie burger is surprisingly tasty. Do it!

Good food! Good drinks! Wish they were open for lunch...

Great service. No wait for a table even though it was Friday night. Plus, the waitress had good recommendations for us when we asked her. The menu is typical for an American Gastro Pub. I enjoyed the wings, sweet potato fries, and burger. There is a large smoking / seating patio in front that has heaters for winter. Should be a great spot in the summer. The patio really helps by shortening the wait time. Argosy has some big tables and group seating, which I think would be great if you have a large group. Also, seating by the window provides great people watching on the street [front of the building to the right when you walk in the door].

I have to say this is one of my favorite places. Industrial/Rustic décor with oversized long picnic tables. They also have an area with couches. Their indoor/outdoor patio is very spacious, however if you mind cigarette smoke the patio may not be for you. Now to their food...NEVER disappointing! The pizzas are all yummy! They also have a delicious steak entree in addition to a very extensive beer selection.

Argosy came highly recommended by several friends, so naturally my interest was piqued. I've been here enough times now to be able to write a fair review. I can say, without a doubt, that this place isn't all it's cracked up to be. The drink selection is awesome. But the drinks themselves are not. The first time I was at Argosy, they were only offering their late night menu. It was mostly pizzas. So we ordered pizza. And it was wretched. We actually sent our pizzas back. If you're gonna make a decent pie, make sure your crust and sauce are on point. Just because there's a fancy oven does not qualify your pizzas as good. The second time we frequented this place was in the afternoon mostly for drinks. As I mentioned before, the selection of drinks was great. Did I mention that the decor of this place is phenomenal? It's a beautiful hang out spot for hipsters and young people alike. But back to the drinks, I ordered two different drinks only to be told that they were unable to make each one due to the lack of the appropriate liquor. Bummer! So I told the server to ask the bartender to make me something with gin. What I got was some sort of Campari cocktail. It wasn't exactly what I had in mind. It was good. Don't get me wrong. But it didn't titillate my senses. At that point, I was over it. Will I come back to Argosy? Not alone or with my fiancé. Maybe if I have friends in town and I want to show them a cool place. But then again, who knows if they'll be able to pull through or if they'll rely on the cool design to hold them up.

Really cool vibe on an average Wednesday night. We ordered the polenta cakes for an appetizer and I had the burger and I had a beer or two. The polenta cakes are super and you should try them. The burger was good but nothing special. The beer selection is much better than average. They have a page of craft beers on tap and then another couple of pages of specialized beers in a bottle. A wood fired oven in the rear makes great pizza and provides some nice ambiance. Both inside and outside seating areas are available and casual overstuffed lounge areas provide a refreshingly different place to, well, lounge.

Argosy continues the trend of upscale brewpubs in the Atlanta area and offers a similar atmosphere as Leon's, Wrecking Bar, and several others. The focus is on craft draft beers, but the food isn't bad. The menu offers a twist on casual bar food like burgers, pizzas, hot dogs, and sandwiches. There are some other main course options, but these are the safest bet. Some of the appetizers were pretty good. The fries were crispy and salty, and the mac and cheese was rich and filling. The buffalo BBQ chicken pops are essentially wings slathered in a rich sauce and served with raw carrots, celery, and some watery blue cheese dressing. The sweet potato chips are unevenly cooked (some are crispy; some are chewy) and the remoulade drizzled on them covers a few of the chips and leaves a bunch of dry, tasteless ones underneath. None of the entrees screwed the pooch. The veggie burger was really flavorful, and the crispy brussels sprouts that came with it were addicting. The Don-A-Tello pizza was about as robust as you'd imagine a pizza with a garlic cream sauce base to be. The toppings were at least creative, and the execution wasn't bad either. The roasted chicken entree came out a bit dry, and the potatoes and carrots with which it was served were bland. I ordered two different beers off the draft menu, but both were out. Our server was humorless and despite being attentive wasn't really fun to interact with. The place is okay overall, and I'd probably return for the ambiance and the bar food.

Stumbled upon this tasty gastro pub by accident and I am so glad we did! Very nice selection of craft beer. My guy and I each had a stout to start off with. We couldn't decide weather we wanted a burger or a pizza so we ordered the burger I believe it was called plancho (delicious!) And the Admiral pizza. The pizza didn't disappoint either! The service was fast and friendly. We loved the way the place is laid out. Huge bar area along with tables, and couch seating. Patio was nice too. On the weekends they have an espresso bar so I grabbed a iced chai latte to go. Very reasonable and tasty food!

Really don't wander down to the EAV area much, but stopped in this past Saturday in order to try some of the special beers being tapped for Atlanta Beer Week. Cool place, liked the decor and various seating options (from bar seats to bigger hightop tables to couch/lounge seating, etc). The service at the bar was attentive and friendly, although they weren't terribly busy for a Saturday afternoon. The beers I came for were great, my fiancee ordered a grilled tuna sandwich was a bit overcooked but otherwise ok. Probably won't make an effort to come here all the time but wouldn't be afraid to stop back in if I were in the area again.

Love this place. I've been about 20 times, every time has been a positive experience. I like the interior too. I love the front porch on a sunny Sunday with a mimosa or something. They have a great beer selection too. The Bloody Mary's leave a lot to be admired though, worse I've ever had I think. I wouldn't dock them a star for that though since when I didn't drink it the waitress didn't charge me for it. If you live anywhere near here you owe it to yourself to give it a try.

Newsflash, people. If you aren't ordering the fried chicken at Argosy, you're doing it wrong. I'm super picky about my fried chicken, and I love it so much we had fried chicken at my wedding. Argosy's is the best I've ever had. Incredibly crispy skin, without a lot of grease. No soggy skin here! Great flavor. Chicken could have been a bit more moist, but the incredibly perfect crispy skin made up for the slight over-doneness. One nice perk - you are served two giant pieces of chicken, and there is only one bone. You really get a huge portion of meat in this entree, which is great since the chicken is the star of the plate. Served over mac and cheese (delicious, but I wouldn't call it anything special) and collard greens (I wish there were my thing, but they just aren't). My husband also had the fried chicken and cleaned his plate. We started with the boiled peanuts, boiled in beer and Coca-Cola. Fun to try, but again, boiled peanuts just aren't my thing. We will try another snack option next time we eat at Argosy. I had one of the daily beers - a peach saison that was delicious. Although with their insane beer list I think anyone could find something they love to drink. Not surprisingly the decor of the restaurant lived up to its reputation; everywhere I looked there was something interesting to look at. I also really liked the music played during dinner. It wasn't too loud or too quiet, and the way the speakers are situated throughout the restaurant creates a much better sound than most restaurant spaces. Parking was easy and the patio looked lovely, but we ate inside since it was a stormy day. Will definitely be back. Soon!

What a fabulous bar! Patio seating, covered and uncovered. Huge bar of seating on the inside (which is gorgeous)! If you don't know what you are looking for, the trees in front of the bar do cover up the signage pretty well from the street, so it's the large Grey building with wood trim. I met a friend here to enjoy a late dinner and some drinks. There is some decent parking in the lot behind the building just keep going around till something opens up. We started with the pork belly kabobs and the buffalo chicken pops. Both were very tasty! I ordered the veggie plat for my dinner and it was lovely and we also got a pizza to share. The pizza was probably the only meh thing we got. The rest was really pretty good. Huge drinks selection, I got beer, so that's easy to not screw up. Very large selection of beer, so that's great. Service was a little slow, I sometimes think the servers forget there are people sitting out front around the corner. They were very nice about it though. Ambiance was very east Atlanta hipster. Overall I'm a huge fan of Argosy, and can't wait to return and sit inside and hang out with friends!

Went around midnight so they had just the Pizza menu. The pizza was very good!!! Good atmosphere.

We had a late night dinner here a few weeks ago. To our surprise the place was pretty happening on that very late Monday night. We were promptly seated and given the beer menu. there was not too many over the top choices, however the menu was pretty versatile for all the drafts, and pretty extensive for the bottled beer. The food selection was pretty good I guess, but for my vegan needs there were two dishes I could partake in, so I was set. I had the veggie patties which was well cooked. Overall, our experience was pretty good, and if we have a few friends with us, we'll visit again.

I went here a month or two ago. Food was awesome (get the wood-fired pizza) and drinks were really unique. I love the ambiance and I'm a sucker for a good decorating theme, which Argosy has. What urged me to write a review now was the experience I had Friday. We went to Argosy to meet up with some friends. We settled into a seating area at the far end of the main bar, into these super low to the ground, cozy chairs. I ordered a Boulevard Hibiscus Gose beer that I'm still dreaming about (so the alcohol selection...10/10 for sure). Our friends got there and I suggested heading back to the room just past the bathrooms, and I was blown away to find a massive game room with unique seating areas. The nautical theme was elevated to a whole new level with the giant squid from the ceiling. Gorgeous attention to detail at every corner. And again, awesome alcohol selection. We stayed the whole night (our plan was 1 drink then bouncing to another place). Really great place to go and I cannot wait to go back for some Hibiscus Beer!

Argosy is so pretty. It's one of those places I like to go just because of how cool everything looks. The fact that this place has great food and a fantastic beer selection just makes the experience even better. My most recent visit to Argosy was for a friends bday bash. She reserved the upstairs area that overlooks the "main" bar/dining area. It was the perfect space for a private get together. We had our own server and she was awesome and attentive to all of us for several hours. No easy feat! The beer list is rather daunting but the server was nice enough to make a few recommendations and I ended up loving what she recommended. We were there mostly for drinking but I have tried the veggie burger, greens, and "The Mermaid" pizza. The pizza is seriously some of the best I've had. I was surprised and would definitely recommend trying their food. The crowd is kind of hipsterey... It is East Atlanta, afterall.. but it's not to the point where you will feel uncool if you show up in non-hipster attire. This is the kind of place that attracts all types of folks, and for good reason.
(5)Yasmin H.
It's aight. No biggie. Went for a friend's bday dinner (a group of about 20), and the restaurant and staff were super duper accommodating and on top of it. Our server (oops can't remember her name) was very very nice. The food was good all around, no one was raving about how great their dish is and there were no "holy cow"s but there were no screw ups either. ooo except my burger was missing pickles and everybody else got pickles and I like pickles =( again, no biggie. Fyi prices are decent at around 10 bucks for a burger and a side. Pros: Burger buns are from Holeman and Finch Great portions Great service kick butt local collard greens and grass fed beef Cons: Okayyyy cocktails you owe me a pickle bland fries

Think Longhorn Steakhouse for pseudo-hipsters. First and foremost, I think the larger size of The Argosy does the food and/or service no favors. Gastropubs are meant to be personal, connective places of eat and drink, but this place is almost a Disneyland of hipster culture gone mad. The beer list is extensive, with plenty of selections for tastes, textures, flavors, bitters, what have you. The food is on par with any nicer non-chain restaurant, but I just can't get past the mish-mash of people, decor, and musak that doesnt sit right in this giant establishment. People watching extravaganza! If you favor finding Waldo out of the wooden features at The Argosy, then this place is for you. Scene/Hipster watchers will have hit their goldmine when they walk through the front door to be greeted by booming sub-culture musak, and a plethora of mismatched pastel skinny-jeans. Have I made my point yet? In short... If you can put up with people "who liked The Argosy" before it was hip, then you are probably in the correct place. Food is good, but not great, but their beer selection might just get me to come back... maybe.
(3)Nicole C.
Argosy is one of my favorite spots in Atlanta. The atmosphere and decor is unique with various seating options (bar seating, high tops, outdoor patio, couches). I mostly come here for their cocktails and great beer selection. The food is never disappointing (gastro-pub fare), but what they are really standing out for is their coffee cocktails. I've brought friends from out of town here on Sundays, and they are continually impressed. You can tell the guys behind the coffee [cocktail] program are really passionate and hold themselves to high standards. In terms of the service - I've always had great servers and bartenders who are really knowledgeable. Philip, especially, has been a pleasure!
(5)Brooke R.
My husband and I absolutely love this place! We always sit at the bar and receive welcoming service. Not only is this place beautifully designed but with consistently great food, a lively environment no matter what day it is, you always feel like you're a part of something local in Atlanta. If we ever move to another part of the city, there's no doubt we would keep coming back. By far the BEST scene in EAV.
(5)April C.
We came for brunch. Started with two mimosas and we both had the egg and cheese sandwiches. Food was fantastic and the service couldn't have been any better! We've been here once before and the food, service, and amazing draft list will keep us coming back!!
(5)Wayne F.
Place is a large gastropub and has a very casual, friendly vibe. It's in EAV so there is a bit of a hipster vibe but honestly it's a mixed crowd here. Service is good but the food was eh.. Pizza was very salty-- mostly due to the fact that they did use a high quality cured meat for the pepperoni but it was just way too salty after being cooked. There was very little arugula on the pizza (like 4 pieces)-- we were joking that it was probably urban foraged and must have been a tough day. I had the lamb shoulder and english snow peas-- very heavy savory dish. The lamb was nicely cooked and the peas were tasty with a solid pan sauce to add some flavor but this was just kind of bland and not worth the price honestly. Drinks were very good-- I had a Arnold Palmer with vodka and honey-- I can't remember the proper name of the drink but it is a killer summer cocktail. Would repeat if in the are but wouldn't make a specific trip over to EAV for this place.

Holy Mother of Beautiful Bars. I am like seriously serious, in love. Argosy is huge. Gorgeous dark rich wood, leather couches, tea boxes as end tables, cool lighting, comfy, unpretentious, hip decor... big, outdoor patio, which might be able to be closed off. Amazing service. I got in before my party of what I thought would be 7. So, I asked a blond chick who worked there and she said 'you can take this big table in the middle if you want!' So, I sat. I waited like a weirdo, by myself at the huge table, since my party was coming from Roswell and I wasn't sure before I got there what the crowd would be like. A few employees walked by and every one of them stopped to check on me at some point. They gave me drink menus, and I took one food menu as there were 10 minutes left of open kitchen (closes at midnight I believe). Just in case something struck me. I originally wasn't planning on drinking, but again I'm sitting alone, with no food or drink. So, I take this opportunity to try out a new combo (new for me) vodka, tonic and lemon. (For the record, vodka, soda water and lemon is actually where it is at.) My waitress was the sweetest; she had dark brown, curly hair, braided, in case you might know her. I don't think we caught her name! Some gals sat down at the other end of my table, and it was totally not a big deal. But my waitress came over, asked if they were part of my party, and I said, "No, we actually may be a smaller group than I thought. Do you want me to move to a smaller table?" She said, "No, this is your table. Let me know if you want me to boot them. Even if it's just you tonight we will take great care of you." I thought that was incredibly awesome of her to say, despite the fact that she was starting to think I was making up imaginary friends. ;) Friends finally showed up YAY and we ordered a few more drinks. She continued to be incredibly pleasant and friendly. Throughout the rest of the evening, we listened to tunes by a rather 60s looking dude, and people watched, as well as intermittent peeks at the TV which was playing Gremlins and then Krull. Overall, the Argosy atmosphere and experience are just about equal to what I am looking for in my love-life. Attractive, well-made, built-strong, interesting, welcoming, well-liked, tasty, friendly, helpful, fun, open-late, loves it's Mother.. Okay I am starting to kid, but I could probably go on, for reals. Argosy, will you marry me?
(5)Joel B.
Great beer, good food and exceptional service. Grab one of the coffee table/couch setups. You get a good view of the crowd and your server never forget you. Argosy got it right.
(4)Shelly H.
Love love love this place. If you're ever looking for a great place to get a beer with friends this is it. Also they have an amazing deal on tuesday nights were you buy two pints and get a pizza for free. Who doesn't love pizza and beer? The atmosphere is laid back and lounge like. Tends to get crowded late night so if you want to get a seat come a little early. I've been there about 4 times and it will always be one of my favorite spots in EAV.
(4)Tanya C.
Beautiful. I never thought I would use that word to describe a bar. Argosy is a beautiful bar. Argosy is located in in EAV. There's parking in the lot surrounding the building. There was plenty of spots available the night I was there, but I could see it filling up on a busy night. The bar is multi-leveled and each contains unique seating options. There are cozy couches, high top tables, booths, regular tables. Something to please everyone. The specialty cocktail list is not too big, but the options are pretty tasty. They have a large number of bottles available at the bar so I'm sure they can whip up most anything you would want. They did have a pretty extensive beer list (based on an amateur beer drinker's opinion) for those beer drinkers among you. The menu has a nice variety of options ranging from small plates to entrees. I ate there with a good friend and we both ended up ordering the plancha burger. She was leaning towards a pizza but ended up going for the burger. I ordered mine with fries while she was all healthy and got the side salad. We both demolished our burgers. I was not expecting the burger to be anything special. Guess what. It's pretty special. It has two patties, ooey-gooey melted cheese, carmelized onions and pickles served on an H&F bun. I think it warrants an honorable mention in a town full of great burgers. Service was a bit spotty on this visit. It was hard to get refills on drinks, both alcoholic and non. It wasn't too crowded when we arrived, but the place filled up quickly. The bar had a lively vibe at that point. But, this also correlated to seeing our server less and less. My one gripe with this place is the lack of a website and ability to see the menu. You currently have to go to their Facebook page to check out the menu or attempt to decipher it from the pictures people have uploaded.

I really wanted to like this place. I'd been before for drinks and have always been satisfied - maybe tonight was just a fluke - but the service was so bad that it threw a wrench in what was supposed to be a rare and relatively extravagant date night. We were waiting for at least 15 minutes before we even saw our waitress, who came out only after my boyfriend went inside to flag someone down. Our waitress was very terse and offered no consolation for the long wait, instead practically barking at us that it was very busy. I understand what it's like to be in the weeds, but an acknowledgement of a mistake on the restaurant's part would have gone a long way. It also would have been nice if the waitress had been aware that several of the beers were out of stock when we ordered instead of coming back to our table twice to tell us they were out of what I wanted. The food was decent enough, but we spent $50 on two beers, an appetizer, and two burgers, and it felt like a ripoff due solely to the poor service. We just got a bad attitude from the staff and felt wholly unwelcome for having shown up. I would recommend avoiding this place when it's busy since it seemed like they couldn't handle the volume.

I don't spend much time in East Atlanta Village, primarily because the vast majority of restaurants are smoke-infested filth holes with borderline criminal food offerings and hipster indifferent service. However, the area's most recent addition, Argosy, is a welcomed deviation from the norm. Brought to you by the same partners behind the Bookhouse Pub, Argosy is poised to become a mainstay and catalyst of East Atlanta Village's resurgence. Food: I wasn't expecting much from the food at Argosy after reading some of the previous reviews, but left pleasantly surprised after my initial visit. The menu is predominately comprised of American Continental gastropub fare, including an extensive American craft beer menu and craft cocktails. Food offerings include starters, Spotted Trotter mini dogs, salads, sandwiches, flat bread pizzas, larger entrees, and desserts. I had the crispy fried chicken sandwich with baby spinach, pickled onion, and sesame mayo, which was excellent. I also ordered a side of asiago mac n' cheese, which was perfectly creamy and incredibly flavorful. Service: The staff are aesthetically, but not ideologically, hipster. Our waitress was very pleasant, competent, and attentive. My only complaint is that there was about a 5 minute lag between the delivery of entrees for my dining partner and I. The waitress was apologetic, but in reality this was likely a back of the house issue. Atmosphere: As others have appropriately noted, the interior of this place is impeccable. It's essentially one big room modeled to look like an argosy, or merchant ship, with different levels and sections. Between the bar area, high-top tables, booths, and couches, there's really something to please almost anyone. There's also a pseudo outdoor patio, which opens up to the sidewalk via a retractable door. Argosy should be commended for prohibiting smoking inside the main room. However, it's still permitted in the patio area - since it's fully enclosed with the exception of one wall, it can get pretty intolerable when the smoking tragic are in force. Cost: Contrary to some of the other reviewers, I actually found the food to be very reasonably priced for the quality, portions, and location. Appetizers are $5-$10, mini dogs are $4, salads are $4-$7, sandwiches (including a side) are $8-$10, pizzas are $14-$15, entrees are $15-$18, and desserts are $5-$6. Other: Argosy is located on Flat Shoals Ave in East Atlanta Village, directly adjacent to The Earl. Daytime hours are very limited - they open at 5PM on weekdays and 12PM on weekends. Free parking is located in the paved lots located on either side of the restaurant.

Have had wonderful experiences here. Service is generally great! I keep hearing about the polenta cakes, but haven't had a good batch yet- they have been dry and bland. But everything else has been delicious!

Had a great time with my hubby at Argosy. We enjoyed date night..which was long overdue! We ordered Buffalo Chicken pops and they were about average. I would have loved for them to have been cooked a bit more crispy. The drinks were pretty good and our waiter was very attentive... I enjoyed the ambiance of this eclectic mix of people. Will definitely return to this cool little spot!

Oh how I wish Argosy had more to offer than just its good looks. The only reason why I came to find Argosy was because my boyfriend & I drove by it and did triple takes because it was so beautiful in there!!!!!!! So of course we had to go and check it out right there and then! 11 o'clock on a Saturday night -- PACKED. They have a nice patio with garage style windows that open up. The decor on the inside is fantastic! Bones made of brick with a hangar styled ceiling. There's reclaimed wood, tasteful nautical inspired decor, and incredible murals all over the walls. I won't lie, I was really excited to be in there. The space is huge. There's plenty of seating near the bar then a loft with tufted leather booths and a lounge area. We sat upstairs on cozy leather couches hoping to wrap up our Saturday night over drinks and maybe some little bites. Honestly... nothing looked exciting on the menu. I wanted it to be more than just your run of the mill pub food. There wasn't anything that stood out that I hadn't seen anywhere else. I ordered their Moscow Mule which was not good at all. It tasted like carbonated nothing :( did they forget the booze? and the lime? Shortly after I asked for a manhattan which was okay. I don't know if I'd come back. Pizza was soggy and tasteless and the cocktails lacked liquor.

So, after our visit it came to our attention that we had been charged improperly. Evidently, the day before our visit, they had had some credit card processing issues. After having the assistant manager Chris be utterly without usefulness, I am at a loss. For a first time experience, all I can say is this is not the end result I had hoped for. 1) The food was good and the waitstaff. 2) Bring cash, I will not use a credit card here. 3) The assistant manager Chris had poor customer service skills. A little communication goes a long way. When asking to speak to a manager/owner, he continued to try to be to go between. Chris had his chance and failed. 4) Armando, one of the managing partners was helpful. If it wasn't for his willingness to listen and hear the issues, I would not go back to Argosy again.

Great ambience here. There is a nice beer selection too. This is a really nice and laid back pub in the EAV.

This place is dope. I was able to have two different IPAs I've never had before, and both were rated above a 95 on BeerAdvocate. The neighborhood is dope. The decor is dope. Our waitress was dope. The burger I had was amazing. The light and fluffy bun had a buttery pretzel taste, and the caramelized onions and crisp pickles made my mouth very happy. Can't think of one thing I didn't like about this place, and that means five stars all the way. I wish we had a place like this in Dallas!

I can only write this place on the fact I was there for a beer release party at 9pm on a Sunday. The atmosphere was incredible and the bar is beautiful. What was more surprising is that we got to go to the Backroom, which was a smaller game room with another elevated bar. I thought the place looked amazing and I will be back to try out the cuisine. If the beer selection is any indication for what the food will be like, I will be back to raise this review to a 5 star. The place was the definition of a cool atmosphere for a beer. I will be back very shortly!

A plethora of parking, a very beautiful layout and decor, plenty of space. Argosy definitely has finer points. We came with a group that was very much in flux and the wait staff definitely did not excel when it came to our table. Our first waiter ended up leaving mid-way through, so we ended up with a new waiter who didn't know who had gotten what and seemed surprised when a new person would show up. It took forever for food and drinks to arrive. That said, even with the room to grow, the food was good, especially the curry brussels sprouts, the drink menu was extensive, and the surroundings were pretty enough to provide some distraction. I'll give it another go and hope that the service is a notch better when there aren't people leaving and joining throughout the meal.

Argosy is the new hot spot in East Atlanta Village. It is located directly across the street from The Elder Tree. Up until tonight I had only been here for drinks. The interior is indeed quite something. Very industrial, chic and spacious; the restaurant interior designers really had a field day getting this place all gussied up right. The drink list and overall selection at the bar is impressive. My date and I were happy with the food we ordered. I got a turkey sandwich with fries. My sandwich is served on buttered toast and had applewood smoked bacon and some kind of special sauce. This turkey sandwich is the real deal with respect to quality stuff throughout and not a menu offering afterthought like turkey sandwiches served at other places. Perfectly cooked, shaved white meat in this roast turkey sandwich. The garnishes / toppings include arugula, roasted tomato and some kind of lemon butter garlic sauce. The fries were done perfectly. My date opted for the pan seared tuna sandwich. It came served on a brioche bun and had just the right amount of sauce / garnish. As far as beverages go, she opted for a Magic Hat #9 while I opted for a Eventide Pale Ale. Service was spot on perfect; attentive but not overbearing. I am a fan and will be back to try other menu features.

I love this place is so cool and the beer selection is great my favorite is the honey wheat beer I don't remember the name but I also don't remember my name after 3 of them since they are high in alcohol content. Anyways we love to go there After 11 since you get a personal pizza for every 2 drafts. As far as the food I remember eating there and food being really good I just don't remember what I ordered.

The atmosphere is great and the food is awesome. Went here on a busy Friday night and the service was great. It was still kind of cold outside but the patio was so cozy is was like almost sitting at home near the fireplace. You have to try the duck and the lamb burger. Yum Yum! A great date night or for socializing with friends.
(5)Amber D.
them crispy potatoes on the brunch menu is weird, y'all. for real, though, that is a garnish. it is not food. how do i eat it? do i need chopsticks? am i eating a bird's nest? help meeeeee!

I'm a big fan of this place. The cocktails are on point, the food is fantastic, the employees are friendly, the bathrooms are clean and the space is huge. I was just telling a friend the other day that even when this place gets really crowded, it doesn't feel like you are fighting your way through people; it still feels spacious. I come here about once a week and I've never been disappointed. I've been with a couple people and with large groups. Every time, they are accommodating to the party, no matter the size, they make it work. I had my birthday here and so did a close friend of mine who was a guest at mine. Another guest from my bday also said he might have his here, so there's that. From what I have seen, the menus change (food and drink) with the seasons, so be sure to keep coming back to try new eats. There's really not much else to say. Just see for yourself.

The bf and I were in the area with no intent on visiting this place, however, as we walked around waiting for the rest of our group we couldn't help but to be drawn in with Argosy's brightly lit and aesthetically pleasing establishment. So after all my friends arrived, we all came to the same conclusion and we were not disappointed! As I searched the menu, (because unlike the majority of the rest of my friends I'm a foodie first and alcoholic second) I was glad to see that it had a good variety of prices attached to good food. I ended up ordering the grilled tuna sandwich. And holy cow that shit was good and only $10! I highly recommend it!! On the drinks side of everything, I was originally sad because they didn't seem to have any good cocktails. I ordered one anyway, and it was average. A friend ordered Crabbie's ginger beer, and for a strict non-beer drinker (even the "girly" ones aren't my cup of tea) this beer tasted like a huge cup of DELICIOUSNESS. If you love a sweet ginger ale, you should definitely check this out! I was pleasantly surprised they had such a great variety of beer that even I found something on the list! For any of you more interested about the atmosphere of the place: It was loud with the DJ who played great music but resulted in not really being able to hear anyone more than a seat away. This place is pretty large and open with couches and booths along the walls. Great place overall! My only caveat with the place, is that their AC was too good. It was a bit chilly.
(5)Katie C.
Went here early on a cold Friday night with some friends. The cocktails are great and the beer list is well rounded with seasonal and craft brews. We got the Griddled Polenta Cakes to share and they were really good. I ordered the tuna steak sammy and it was ok. I asked for rare and it was medium and a little salty. The fries were really good though. We got a prime table in the front window which was great for people watching. The place was packed by the time we left and everyone looked like they were having a good time. This is a good place for big groups or meeting for drinks. I really enjoyed the fact that there wasn't any loud music so we could actually carry on a conversation (wow, I sound old...)
(4)Willie D.
Another great place to have a great burger and fries also a brick oven for pizzas.
(3)Keisha B.
Great drinks and service and cozy spot. thou I was not impress with their finger foods however, their pizza is always the safest bet. Great for groups or date night.
(3)Trip B.
To the chagrin of East Atlanta, this area needed a place like this. It's a bit more clean, it's got a good ambiance and it's got a bar that doesn't have dust on the back few whiskey bottles that haven't had a sip in years. That's ok. I could eat at either the Earl, the Glenwood, or the Midway five days a week. Perhaps my midsection would start to feel the effects of the PBR or the hoppy delights but it would still be a happy life. Argosy offers a little something different for the area. The space is great and on a weeknight you can sit comfortable for hours at a big cushy seat at the bar. If I have a complaint, it involves the weekend crowd. Brunch is fine but Friday and Saturday night when the Ray-Bans, Boat Shoes and Polos come out, the wait for dinner can border on two hours. That's a bit much. The saving grace for the two hour wait is the solid cocktail, beer and appetizers list. Expect to be pretty hungry, if not a bit buzzed, once you sit down. I usually finish off the night with the Ahi tuna burger and totally end up forgetting I waited just a bit too long.
(4)Melanie C.
This is a great restaurant, patio is nice on warm days. I went most recently for brunch and got the pigs 'n grits, my friend got the Tofu Scramble. Neither one of us was disappointed, and the portions were perfect in that we were full but not uncomfortable.
(4)Donny F.
I like this place a lot alot. As most other reviews have mentioned, it is absolutely gorgeous inside, with so much leather, dark wood, and attention to detail that you'll be blown away. It is definitely one of the coolest restaurant environments in Atlanta. That is why this is always at the top of the list when I host out of town friends and want to impress them with a killer vibe. The food doesn't quite live up to the ambiance, but there are some solid options. They do have a very good burger, and they're on-point with the temperature gradient for those of us who prefer a rarish patty. The pizza is also satisfying, if not all that exceptional. But if it's already pretty late and you're intending to chill with a few beers and a group, it's nice to have that easy option of a pie for shared munching. The grit cakes and tuna sandwich are also recommended. Ultimately, it's pretty much straight pub grub done well, but it's not elevated. I've been 10+ times and I'm pretty tired of the limited menu at this point because it hasn't changed much if at all. They should rotate in new food like they rotate in new drafts on their very choice beer list. I will say that the brunch is a win. "The Hasher" is a wondrous corned beef and crispy potato combo. They get a crust on the corned beef that really takes it to the next level. The coffee is also good, with some boozy options available if you want to swerve out of the gate but not be that grizzled bastard swilling beer at 11 am (not that I'm totally above that). Definitely check this place out if you get a chance. I would qualify it as a destination bar worthy of a drive across town. While you're at it catch a show at The Earl or 529 and make a night of it. Good stuff.
(4)Korey M.
Plancha burger and great beers. This is my new favorite drinking/eating spot in all of Atlanta. Great beer selection, I have enjoyed everything I have tried on the menu, and they even have amazing pizza If I didn't live in Midtown, I'd be here constantly.
(5)Kerry L.
I think i got the wrong thing because my guests were very happy with their brunch items. We had steak and Eggs but they came cold and not cooked the way we ordered. Coffee was unflavorful( i had a latte AND A regular brewed) and it left me craving Octanes fresh strong brews. The service was shotty. 3 out of 5 people at our table got their food and the 2 guests of honor were left waiting for 10 more minutes for their food. No discounts were offered or extended not even a complemtary birthday dessert for the girl who waited for her breakfast. If you want to feel special or like good service.. .skip it! this place is typical of the east atlanta vibe of "we are doing you a favor by waiting on you" when i found the waitress across the restaurant to tell her half our food was missing she immediately replied "it should be right out" lol comical. No concern at all. I wasnt impressed after several referrals. Wont be back with the many brunch places in atlanta.

Keep Walking Such missed potential. Great to look at, so maybe glance in, while you're on your way to the Midway. I dine out often and I've worked in the restaurant business and this was hands down my worst dining experience. 9 of us for Brunch, all agreed. With the walloping list of things that went wrong, we kept our cool but, the Manager/Owner tipped the scales. I had in my mind to give this place a 2nd chance - but not after the manager/owner's indifference and unprofessional attitude. That will be my last visit. He couldn't have cared less that there was a group of padded wallet patrons who were collectively having a horrible dining experience and just thought that he should maybe be more aware. He basically put the blame on us. Cooks can have a bad dish go out - it happens. Servers can get in the weeds and miss something (not the case here - just aloof) . Just apologize and rectify. Do not make excuses or roll your eyes. Know your business. See the problems, correct them. Customers are the ones who keep you in business - if you alienate your customers - you've go no business in this business. I was 2 of 9 that enjoyed their dish - and my drinks were tasty. But they were also empty for 20 minutes at a time. Kudos to the busser (who was the only one to ask if we needed anything else) and to the women who helped clear our dishes (even though we just wanted our checks and to get the heck out of there! )
(1)Dru C.
*Thumbs up* Great selection of craft beers -- the beer menu is massive. The service was friendly and quick to check up on things. Cool woodsy, rustic decor inside. *Thumbs down" Overall, the food was just alright. The buffalo pops appetizer could've been more crispy on the outside. The duck spring rolls were too greasy. The fries were soggy. *Tip* The place has a hipster-ish vibe to it, if you're into that sort of thing.
(2)Laura D.
Atmosphere is awesome! Large variety of drinks. Great place to eat and drink with friends.
(4)Rebecca P.
The drinks and decor are the best things about this place. The food and service are disappointing. I like it when it's clear what to do when you enter a place. I'm uncomfortable when I don't know whether to wait to be seated, or seat myself. I had that uncomfortable moment here, but not for too long. A waiter told us to sit wherever we like. As we walk up to the first empty booth we see, actually, the only empty booth, a waitress quickly warns us not to sit there because the seats are wet. There are also a few dishes left on the table. Will it be cleaned soon, so we can sit? We stand there awkwardly wondering for a moment, but then decide to go up to the next level where a couple of people are drinking at a table but there are many more empty tables. After another couple of minutes, the same waitress shouts up at us "we're not seating up there!" We feel very out of place and unwelcome. I did not enjoy the experience! The "Marg" pizza sauce tastes like Chef Boyardee.

Argosy was a great find. I've been twice and both were great experiences. The decor is adorable. The food and drinks are good. I had a burger and brussel sprouts once. The burger was delicious and the sprouts were "aight". (SoundTable to hails as the best sprouts in Atlanta). The Shrimp and Crab dip is delicious as well. I also had the crispy chicken sandwich. It was ok... All-in-all I love this chillness of the restaurant.
(4)Teddy D.
I like the Argosy a lot, it's a nice addition to the EAV. It has indoor and outdoor seating. It's very big inside, good menu, friendly staff. The beer selection of local and non-local beer is really good. I've been a few times and I have to say, the Plancha Burger is awesome. Totally hits the spot everytime. Some people would rank this as one of the better burgers in Atlanta. The interior is cool, I like the direction they've gone. An often overlooked , but important area, is the bathroom. The Men's room, at least, is really nice. There is even a little shelf next to the urinal, for what looks like your beer or phone. Friday night DJ's are solid. The crowd is ok, a lot more collared shirts than I like. But it's a big restaurant, it's not really noticeable. It gets busy , as most good restaurants do. But they take your name and text you when your table is ready. I usually go across the street, get a beer or two and wait for my text. Nice job Argosy people, I'm looking forward to our next meeting.
(4)Stan S.
I liked it a lot.
(5)Alfeo D.
Great beers and good food! But the F'king Pork -n- Grits is fantastic and amazing all in one!
(5)Aaron W.
The beer list is overwhelming. We tried a few for variety and they were all excellent. I ordered a burger and fries, while the wife ordered a cheese plate and polenta cake. The burger and fries was served on a board instead of a plate, was a decent serving and very tasty. But the real reason to go here is for the beer. This was a loud bar, which didn't bother us, but could bother others, so be warned.
(4)Shawn C.
Worst experience in Atlanta to date which says a lot. Do people work here because all I see is people looking for other people. The attitude is the pits. I hear the food is good but who can tell I've never had any. Manager, expect a call.

Absolutely lovely! Went here for a Yelp event to welcome the new CM. We were late and most of the food was gone, some of the staff seemed tired and possibly irritable, but one staff stepped up - the very upbeat and compassionate Armando. Than you for being so kind to us! THE FOOD: SO delicious I am so tempted to cuss in this review! At the yelp event, we tried their pizza, the wings and the rice thingy. Lol ... cant remember the name right now. And all of them was UH-MAZING! the pizza is probably one of the best I have had in Atlanta. Light, crunchy, and I highly recommend it! The hot wings were nice, simple, but still makes my mouth water just thinking about it. The rice thingy was also good! Then, we decided to order the pork bellies, and my oh my! SO MUCH FLAVOR! how the hell did they do that? I will admit that the fat to meat ratio is a bit overwhelming, but still! wow wow wow! the beers were reasonably priced and also soooooooo good! Hands down, one of the most delicious food I have had in a restaurant!
(5)Peter L.
Ate here for the first time last night and I have to say I was not very impressed. I ordered the tuna sandwich, which the waiter recommended saying it was very good and one of his favorites. I thought it was very bland. Probably should have ordered the pizza since other reviewers suggest that. I guess if we go back I will have try something different. Just didn't want to go with the norm of eating a burger or pizza.
(3)D D.
This place was thriving on a Thursday night and had a great patio scene. Had a great cocktail called the Honey Leopard. My friend had the trout and I have a fried chicken sandwich both were good will definitely be back bc it had great scene and friendly staff to boot!
(4)T D.
This is one of my favorite places in the area, and I've eaten their far too many times to recall. If you have a chance to go for brunch you must try the BBQ Bloody Mary. I don't even like BBQ sauce but it's the best I've ever had. I've gotten several things on the menu, as well as a few daily specials, and everything has been great. FYI-This is a great place for groups. The have large tables downstairs and a lot of the booths fit 6 people.
(5)Jeremy D.
Ok, brunch at the Argosy is awesome. I had the corned beef hash - it's served with potatoes and eggs over some incredible french toast. It was super crazy good. The hash was soooo flavorful. I would definitely go back over and over. I also got a biscuit on the side - it was served with a delicious house made blackberry jelly. After brunch, order some espressos/cappuccinos/americanos. They have a fantastic coffee program here that is very very well priced. I think the cappucino was $3 for an expertly crafted coffee concoction. I'm thinking I'll have to give dinner another shot here...
(4)Robin S.
Tried a pizza and am quite impressed. Tasty, good char and somewhat foldable. Veggie plate rocks, too.
(3)Alex J.
The food was decent, 3 out of 5 stars food, but the service was really bad. We sat on the patio cause it was nice out and didn't see our server for 20 minutes. We sat there with no water until it got dark. When Abigail finally came out, she offered no apology and gave me the distinct impression that we were somehow bothering her by being there. We ordered drinks, and would have ordered food too if she hadn't stormed off after. Anyway, on my girl's third attempt at ordering a beer, we ask our waitress if she can light the candle at the table for us, she did not respond and went back inside. Through the large front windows we see her talk angrily to her co-workers and pointing at us. When the food comes out, the food runner makes a wise crack about the candle - "I don't know how you survived without it" he says. The plancha burger was OK, honestly nothing you couldn't make at home. My girl's tri-tip sandwich was just plain dry but the sides were good. Over all the experience was ruined by an over stressed server who refused to make amends. I got the distinct impression that we were unwanted guests. As we sat on the patio, an employee comes out to fetch his bike and is bragging loudly to a friend on the phone about how he set a dumpster fire out back. I expect a certain degree of hipster-apathy from EAV, but these guys didn't give a shit.
(1)J B.
Argosy is great on so many levels .. atmosphere, decor, service, and everything i've had is great ! i get the veggie burger and i love it .. comes with a homemade pickle ... i don't drink beer but it seems like a great spot to drink it.
(5)Taylor A.
THIS PLACE HAS A PARKING LOT. Just had to say it since parking in EAV has been once of the reasons driving to this neighborhood ends up being a pain. Like everyone else with two eyeballs has noted, the interior of this place is lovely. Dark and stormy and hip. Lots of edison bulbs and wood-ish bits break up the large space into something visually more manageable. The pork belly kabobs were nice and crispy with fantastic flavor. Pork belly is often overcooked, but not here. Next was the meaty pizza which I also liked. It's not Antico, but it doesn't need to be here. I wasn't expecting such good quality. The most fun part of the evening was ordering beers and then the server would bring back some other random beer stating it was the one I ordered. For example, a Boulevard wheat was ordered and double IPA was returned. I didn't mind since the latter was tasty, but I was surprised the server didn't notice such a drastic difference. Not sure how beer-educated the servers are. Other than spinning the beer wheel every time I ordered something, Argosy is one of the fewt places that will drive me to come to EAV. Welcome to the neighborhood!
(3)Alex S.
This place is excellent! Good pub and great service. The price is also great :) EAV treasure!!! The pizza isn't that great

Hello, gorgeous. Argosy is bar none one of the prettiest bars I've ever been in, and I'm even more amazed to find it in EAV. I was there for an hour and still don't feel like I was able to take it all in: the cozy couches, intimate lighting, owl mural, diving antiquities, and meandering bar just made it a place I wanted to mingle. They've got varied seating options as well, so if you want a classic table vs. a booth vs. a spot on the couch vs. a barstool vs. a normal-height chair at the bar, they've got it. The cocktails matched the setting. They've got an impressive array of potions stacked up behind the bar and the proper mixologists to bring 'em your way. Since the bar is so long they've got a good number of staff back there, so you might have a couple of bartenders helping you throughout the night. For the most part, this is a good thing. The food was the only slight miss in my experience, and I wouldn't go so far to say the food is bad. The pizza was just okay: pretty bland, in my opinion. Everything else we tried was solid, with the sweet potato profiteroles being my favorite. I did like the shareable nature of the menu, and I'd be happy to return to try a few more selections. Argosy, I like you a heck of a lot. Thanks for coming to town.

Part of what makes East Atlanta Village so great is that it has been a spot where people who look and think like me - the heavily tattooed, live music-loving, intelligent Generation X-ers - could eat, drink, be merry and have good conversation away from the roving eyes of those who want to be like us, but can't, because they are not willing to trade away too much of their sameness, their wanting to fit in. So imagine my disappointment when my friend Laura and I decided to check out the Argosy and were baffled why everybody has been praising this place, when it basically is, just not cool. As she said it best, "It's like being in the Highlands ... but in East Atlanta." That sums it up pretty well. This is a bar for those who want to be seen. It is hipster, it is trendy, it is new and cool - it is all the things that do not really fit in EAV. The drink menu was not great, the bartenders did not seem to really know what was going on and the ambience was a jumble of things that did not seem to really fit together. But the most damning thing about the Argosy is that it was the first time I had ever felt uncomfortable in the EAV. Yes, I am Indian and tattooed and my friend had her face painted and in costume, but who the fuck cares? No one usually does in this part of town because it's, well, normal. I hate feeling like a stranger in my own town.
(2)Keo S.
This place would want make me want to get on a ship (especially the Argosy ha ha ha) any day. I am so taken in by their Bloody Mary's that I'm not even sure if I remembered the food. I know it was ok, but seriously they have the best Bloodys in town and the ambiance is awesome. We were with a large party and the server was awesome. I do need to come back to comment on the food as it was just outshined by that drink so far. The benches do need some kind of cushion, but that's the only negative I can point out so far. Looking forward to coming back a 2nd time and will definitely comment more on the food.

MJQ guys, you've done it again. You've managed to create another gorgeous bar, dare I say, topping The Bookhouse? I cannot believe what you guys did with this old space! We were already impressed with the outdoor patio, but when we walked in we were taken aback by all the beautiful sights... the bar, different styles of seating areas, and the second floor overlooking it all. The built in DJ booth and Pizza Oven area were great touches as well. We came to drink for my husband's birthday. He loved the beer selections and tried three different kinds. I got the Navigator. Shit's expensive but very good. I loved the lavender in the drink! We got some snacks, french fries and olives. French fries were tasty, and everyone loved the olives. The only weird thing about that appetizer was the plate of goat cheese (it looked like cottage cheese to my vegan eyes.) My Frenchie was confused on how to eat it with the olives. She asked for crackers or bread, that was an additional dollar. I'd advise adding something to put the cheese on, putting cheese on olives... seems like something is missing. We definitely want to come back here again very soon, and just soak up the gorgeous atmosphere. I am hoping the veggie burger is vegan, fingers crossed!

3 Stars for now.. but great potential. I really thought it was just a bar since I saw from my newsfeed it was created by the owners of Bookhouse Pub, so I was really confused when I saw a bunch of people coming out with their babies. So yea, I guess it's more a restaurant with a big bar. However, I probably wouldn't rec bringing children here, mostly because everyone smokes in the Village.. I just wouldn't want to expose their little lungs to that. They have a nice little patio. My friend had her dog with her so I asked the hostess if we could sit out there with the dog. She really didn't know, but since no one had forbidden, she said it was okay. Sweet! There weren't many tables since it was around the same time as the Living Walls block party and the place was crawling with yuppies and families, so it was nice to chill outside. EXCEPT the smokers filled up all the air with their smoke. and this was outside. Damn. So I didn't read up about it before I came, and I discovered they have mostly only imports, only domestic is PBR. I was feeling damn cheap that day since I'd gone shopping the day before so that's what I opted for. I guess if you're a beer snob you'll like this place. However, they deserve honorable mention for a great layout and great decor. With high ceilings, polished wood, seating areas that involve leather couches, vintage paintings and stuff like that, it was really beautiful. It's a great addition to EAV to bring a little class. Hope they get their kinks worked out and can't wait to visit again.
(3)Alayne H.
Love, love, love this new addition to EAV! Very cool interior design with a HUGE bar, communal tables, single tables, lounge areas, and an upper floor all decorated with soft lighting, wood and a wide range of decor. Nice patio too! Argosy has an extensive beer list and I enjoyed the Southern Tier option. Several small plates were ordered and the ones I tasted were very good. A couple of people had the burger and fries and were pleased with the quality and taste. The service was great - we had a good size group with people coming and leaving throughout our stay and it didn't throw our server off. So happy to have Argosy in EAV! Welcome!!!!
(4)Elexa B.
Really great interior- well and exterior for that matter since they just put up their sign. But it totally disapointed in other areas. Our food came out cold so we had to send it back which I hate doing. But even when we sent it back and got a new one I still didn't really like it. I had to polenta appetizer but it just taster like spaghetti and tomato sauce. Nothing new. Dessert was all over the place. Such odd flavors, nothing simple. It has to be so edgy I guess. We had the lime flan. Too much lime. Weird flavor. Lastly, our bartender was that prick from Rocky Mountain Pizza with the long hair- he is the most pretentious person I've ever met.
(2)Angela D.
I love coming here! The food is great but the really wonderful thing is brunch on the weekend. They have an awesome coffee bar and make some cocktails out of them. My favorite is the fantasy island, absolutely amazing. My boyfriend and I come here often and always have a great experience. And their breakfast pizza is to die for, bit make sure you have someone to share it with!

From the ambience to the decor to the menu, this place is ACE.

I'm not going to lie - I wanted to hate Argosy. It just had that hype about it - the sort of thing that makes me never want to go there. I remember reading that this was supposed to be a spot for "hipster parents." Then the big sign was put in and the place seemed to overshadow all of the other spots in EAV. I really, really didn't want to like it.... and I really, really failed. The pizza is amazingly delicious - wood fired and topped with local Spotted Trotter meats and unique combinations of ingredients. The polenta cakes are good as well, although they can be a bit too salty depending on the day. I have yet to try the hot dogs but it is my understanding that they make all of their sausage in house. (Sounds good to me!) I have been her many times - sometimes just for a cold pint in the oh-so-comfortable captain's chairs at the bar, sometimes for a bite with friends and occasionally on a date. I have yet to be disappointed. For me to become such a big fan despite not WANTING to love it - well, that says something about Argosy. Now I can't imagine EAV without it and I'm super glad it is here.

It was a Saturday night and quite busy when we arrived. There were 7 in our group and the wait was very reasonable. The host (not sure of his name) was genuinely interested in helping us to get settled. In fact, the place had great service. Food was good and there is an extensive beer menu. I would skip the shrimp and crab dip as it was pretty average. I would recommend the collard greens and the apple pie.

Still love this place for when I need a good new beer to try. And I'm learning that the food is also delicious. Their pork belly kabobs are the perfect portion and the grain mustard pairs really well. The eggplant hummus was good...but it's pretty pricey for the fact you're eating hummus...not a large portion either, so while tasty, not worth the $9...I'd recommend trying some of the other apps which as just as good, polenta cakes are a better bargain in my opinion. The staff is always helpful with the menu and decision making (so much beer!) but I thought they were a little slow (maybe short staffed?) on my most recent visit. But considering it's still the lingering holiday season I'm not going to knock them for it. On this visit I also noticed the little stack of random board games and cards against humanity in the back! Love it.

My first time in before a show at the Earl next door and this place absolutely rocks. Great beer selection, as has been amply testified. What really sets this place apart is the food: higher quality pub fare at a good price. I can still live my rock and roll lifestyle and eat healthy: an appetizer featuring three differently prepared beets, a pizza featuring butternut squash! Amazing stuff. Great atmosphere all around with helpful service. Great first impression!

I've visited a few times and it's such a wonderful addition to Atlanta. I decided to try out the menu last night and was amazed at the speed of the kitchen and the wonderful dishes prepared. I gave 4 stars because of a major no no. WHO ALLOWS SMOKING INSIDE A CLOSED OFF PATIO THAT EVERY PATRON MUST WALK THROUGH TO GET IN THE FRONT DOOR??? Come on guys! Last night the path from the front door to the restaraunt entrance was blocked by 4 smokers standing and over ten seated. A beautiful room full of smoke! Genius! Who wants tobacco smoke to be the first thing they smell when walking into a restaraunt? You can do better. It's almost 2014.

This was my first time to EAV. Shocker, I know. Believe me, I will be back. I loved Argosy. It's a great atmosphere. The food was delicious. The service was awesome. I met some friends here for dinner. I had the tuna sandwich and the goat cheesecake. My husband had a couple of the little dogs and the blondie. All of it was delightful.

It has a very hipsterish atmosphere. It was enjoyable, but I felt discriminated against because my group didn't fit that persona. Our waiter wasn't rude, but he was not interested in providing great service to us. We told him it was my birthday upfront. The food wasn't great, but it certainly wasn't bad either. One of our appetizers had a plastic lid in the bottom of it. A PLASTIC LID. Seriously? That's unacceptable. We told our waiter and he just spouted off that it's some premade dip they dump in a bowl. I was extremely upset with his service. He asked us what we wanted to drink and took 3 of our 5 drink orders before rushing off for a solid 10 minutes. Naturally, those two were very perturbed by his disregard for their existence. The wings appetizer was pretty good. Certainly not the best. But it was good. They do have a good beer selection. Don't count on it being anything but a pint glass though. I don't want to come off as seething about our experience, but we were disregarded so much, and the food was so unwelcoming, I will never go back.

When I went to Argosy recently, I actually broke a rule that I set for my self a few years back: Never go to a restaurant that has just been open a few weeks. New restaurants need to work out the kinks and whatnot. However, a friend really wanted to go, so we met up here on a Friday night at 7 p.m. It was already pretty packed, and we had to wait 20 minutes. This is probably THE nicest place in EAV. That's to say that it doesn't look like your standard EAV establishment at all. Very artsy furniture and tables. Our food was alright. My fries were pretty cold when I got them. I got some sort of chicken sandwich. The chicken needed a little bit more flavor, but the sauces on it provided just enough kick. I'll definitely come back since I would like this place to succeed. I'm sure it will, but until then I'll be at the Flatiron.

Fabulous patio and a gorgeous interior. Shockingly large. The polenta cake app was delicious. I would get that again. Other menu items I would order again would be the sweet potato profiteroles sans meat and the baby spinach salad. the dressing for that bad boy was perfect. The only item I wasn't the biggest fan of was the veggie burger. Their version is pretty meh; bland and boring. I love a shandy (half beer/half lemonade), but theirs was weak. There are so many good places in EAV that I'm not planning on rushing back here anytime soon.

Great service, good vibes, beautiful wood bar overall great atmosphere. Food was good with the variety of IPA beers. Got the don-o-tello pizza, delicious!

I met my friend here on Saturday afternoon for some girl time and we had a blast. I've been here before on a Friday night, but never yelped that time because the idiot who I was on a date with was enough to make me want to forget that night all together. I love the esthetics of the place, its so woodsy chic. The bathroom is pretty clean also, which is very important. Anyway, on this past Saturday, we decided to sit at the bar and order some food. They were still serving the brunch menu (I didn't even know they served brunch). I ordered off the regular menu and got the veggie burger and fries. The veggie patty is delicious and is definitely not a store bought hockey puck. The bartender said they make them in house. It actually has the texture of a finely chopped crab cake. I'll definitely get it again. My friend ordered the steak and eggs with potatoes and fresh fruit. They over cooked the steak and undercooked the potatoes. Hmmm. Not good, but they did reduce the bill-which was nice after bringing the matter to their attention. Other than the fact that I don't like eggs, I normally dont order off of brunch menus. Check it out!
(4)Jenna S.
Best coffee cocktails ever. We came here just for the coffee cocktails. We tried all four. My favorite was the green tea cocktail. Philip our bartender was so friendly and knowledgable! Great find in east atl!

Why differentiate between meal times in oppressive ways when you could have pizza for breakfast, lunch and dinner? Biscuits and gravy all day every day? Yes and yes. Blur the lines. Live deliciously!

I finally got a chance to check out The Argosy, as it's the new hype in my neighborhood, and everyone was giving it 5 stars. The space looks big from the outside, but walking in I didn't realize how HUGE it really was. 2 stories, damn! The interior is beautiful. The bar is huge and inviting. The pizza oven calls your name. There was a 30 minute wait for 2 people, so we saw a couple couches opening up and decided to wait. The hostess came over and told us that the couches were actually a table, not a waiting area. I thought that was weird...but we ended up moving to the bar. Since the bar had a couple open seats we decided to sit there instead of taking up a table. From there, we could take it all in. The beautiful ceiling, the owl mural, the portholes behind the bar. It all blended stunningly. I was excited to try to food. The beer list is extensive with a nice variety, but tonight I wanted my focus to be on the food so I opted for a simple PBR. I didn't think that for once I would be looked down upon for ordering a specific type of beer (I'll explain further on). I went with my vegetarian friend and we wanted to try a pizza. We asked the bartender which out of the meatless pizza he suggests and got this response: "Well I would go for the lemon tarragon since it's something new and weird, but I don't know, you guys are drinking PBR so you might want to just stick with the Margherita." Wow, was that an asshole response. We kindly told him that we try new things all the time (hence coming to Argosy) but we were on a budget and got, "Oh no offense at all, I drink shitty beer sometimes too." So, if you happen to get the stereotypical hipster douchebag bartender with the waxed mustache, plaid shirt, black rimmed glasses, and skinny jeans, be sure to tell him to piss off (BTW, we saw him a couple days later at Tomatillos drinking guess what...a PBR). Regardless of the horrible bartender, we waited on our pizza (which we got the lemon tarragon). I also ordered the Jimmy Jam mini trotter dog in the mean time. The trotter dog was delicious, small, yet flavorful. I liked that it came with fries, and was given condiments. This would make a good late night snack while drinking for sure. One of the different bartenders came by to check on us and he was very nice (I'm pretty sure I recognize him from Graveyard). Our pizza came out shortly after. To be honest, it was just ok. It wasn't great pizza. The sauce was so bland, the crust wasn't really crispy. I think the trotter dog well surpassed the taste of the pizza. And although the lemon is a nice idea, biting into the lemon was a bit much. I think if the lemon was squeezed over the top or integrated better this would be a better match. I had it for leftovers the next day and it was worse, I had to take the lemon off completely. We really wanted the try the goat cheese cheesecake but were tapped out after the pizza. The nice bartender brought us 2 boxes for the pizza and even cut up the slices so we didn't have to. Asshole came by one more time but realized we didn't want anything to do with him. So in general: Atmosphere and interior: 5 stars Staff: 2 stars Food: based on this experience 3 stars I definitely want to come back, and want to try other things than the pizza (I hear good things about the pork belly). My vegetarian friend was limited to the veggie burger and pizzas on the menu so we had to compromise, which sucks for her that there aren't really any vegetarian options. And next time I'll make sure to wait on a table.

Am I the only person that thinks Argosy is a poseur? It just feels like some Buckhead folks invested in and designed this joint and provided their staff with some fake tattoos. It is decidedly not East Atlanta in feeling. Something is off and a little less legit than the surrounding, gritty businesses. Well, first there is the appearance. Argosy is surely attractive and with a large variety of seating options - you've got high-tops, couches, a lower-level patio, booths, an upper level patio and I'm probably missing something else. But it also feels similar to those chain breweries/brewpubs around town - Max Lager's, Gordon Biersch and Rock Bottom Brewery. It also has that ubiquitous wood paneling on the outside and a nice mural or two on either side. While it sounds interesting, the food is pretty much typical bar bites (ie.,nothing exceptional). You want something to sop up your booze? The hot dogs (made by Spotted Trotter) will do the trick and they come with a generous helping of fries. And they're like $4 and some change. That's about the only thing I can recommend, I just hope it doesn't come out cold like mine. Overall, I'd happily return to Argosy for some drinks or to kick off a night in East Atlanta. This may sound weird, but if I came across Argosy in another neighborhood, I think I'd feel much more comfortable there. During the course of my visit, I couldn't stop asking myself, "What is this place doing here?"

The worst service ever! If you plan on coming here; prepare to wait for about two hours before you're served. The manager or owner; whoever it is also doesn't know how to handle complaints. With that being said, I don't think this place should be your first option.

Overall, I enjoyed the experience on Tuesday night. My meal was the smoke turkey sandwich with a side of the vegan collards. I enjoyed both items even though I was surprised by the collards being spiced with hot pepper sauce. This little detail was not on the menu. I didn't send the collards back since I tolerate spicy foods, so I finished my meal with no other issues or surprises. The service was great. The decor is nice and casual along with being a bit noisy. This is a good place to meet friends after work for a few drinks and a bite to eat. I'm not a smoker, so I was annoyed that I had to enter and exit the restaurant by going through the outside patio eating area where the smokers had congregated.

Brunch in Atlanta is highly competitive, so you've got to bring your A-game if you're going to do it and Argosy's just wasn't cutting it. My wife and I decided to try brunch here after happening upon a Scout Mob deal. While the experience wasn't terrible, and I indeed left the place full, there were just too many bad points to motivate me to return. First, I need to point out a fairly significant problem with the Scout Mob deal. For 29.00, you get 2 coffees, 2 mimosas (or Bloody Marys), and 2 entrees (which range from 9.00 to 15.00). This, they claim, is a 58.00 value. Let's do the math, shall we? Coffees are 1.50 each, Mimosas are 7.00 each, and my wife and I ordered entrees priced at 11.00 and 14.00. That totals 42.00. While I fully recognize our purchase was still at a discount, it was not even close to the 50% they claimed. Even if we had both ordered the 15.00 breakfast pizza, we'd still only clock in at 47.00. God forbid we each only ordered the 9.00 bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit. Considering we probably wouldn't have ordered mimosas had we come without the coupon, which would have made our total 28.00, I'm a little regretful of the Scout Mob purchase. Anyway, on to the review itself. The coffee was serviceable at 1.50, no complaints but I wasn't impressed. The mimosas were quite strong, certainly no skimping on the champagne. For my meal, I ordered the steak and eggs, both of which came out undercooked and, in general, weren't anything I couldn't find at a diner. The egg, which I had ordered over-medium, looked borderline sunny-side up. My wife ordered the Hasher, corned beef hash over vanilla brioche french toast with an egg on top. She enjoyed it and I found it quite tasty as well. I think if I did go back, this would be what I would order. I think Argosy was a tad overwhelmed by an influx of Scout Mobbers, all similarly scammed by their so-called deal, as I heard two neighboring tables complain of undercooked food. I would almost give Argosy a pass because of this, but as I said at the top of this review, Atlanta a big-time brunch city. If you're going to enter the ring AND have a Scout Mob deal, you gotta be ready for the crowd. Argosy probably could run a solid brunch. The atmosphere is conducive for it and the menu is just about there. They just need to fill out the menu more and get the staff and kitchen to speed.

I came with no expectations and left with little good to say. We met a group of friends here Saturday night for drinks and dinner. Maybe I'm just getting old, but I like to be able to hear the people I'm talking to and my throat hurt after we left from having to practically yell the entire time. I wasn't expecting it to be quiet, so not a huge deal, just not my first choice. This place is loud. First issue - the kitchen lost the ticket for our table's order (after the appetizers and pizza). Those of us having pizza were done eating for over 1/2 hour before the rest got their food. In all fairness, our server was apologetic and cool about handling the situation. The Fiancé and I split the pork belly pizza and I think it would have been pretty good if a) it had arrived hot instead of cold, b) it wasn't soggy on the bottom and c) it came with a kick of some kind (it was a little bland). We had two separate orders of the pork belly skewers at the table - the first one was delicious; the second one had entirely too much mustard...so much so that it overwhelmed the rest of the flavors. There were a few things I wanted to try on the menu, but I don't think I'll be rushing back.

The space is BEAUTIFUL. The decor is funky and eclectic, yet the massive space covered with dark wood gives it a homey and comfortable feeling. My FAVORITE dish is the fried chicken sandwich. I know, doesn't sound exciting. But it's the best fried chicken sandwich in town. The chicken is fried crispy but maintains its juicy flavor, I think the soy lime marinade is the key. It's topped with a tasty sesame mayo, spinach, and pickled onion, giving the sandwich a subtle asian twist while keeping it classic and southern. The plancha burger is also one of the better burgers in town, definitely comparable to a Bocado burger. Skip the asiago mac n cheese. While it sounds amazingly tasty, it's super heavy and I could only eat a few bites. The side salad is a nice alternative and better than most side salads.

very cool room, great food & service with prices to make you come back soon!!! We will definitely return!

Argosy is a beautiful restaurant with a bountiful list of speciality beers and attractive wait staff but sadly they also have mediocre food. Don't get me wrong - you want the food to be good. You've bypassed The Earl's delicious slop to walk through Argosy's larger than life doors but every time you eat there it's just as ho-hum as the time before. I've tried it all and the best advice is just order a salad. I'm sorry. I know you don't want to hear that but the salads are quite nice. DO NOT get a hot dog. The cute names they give them do not make up for the dry grossness. Everything is over salted and over flavored. I think they could be saved by a total menu overhaul and often wonder if that's in the works.

Loved the Atmosphere, very nice, neighborhood feel BUT i ordered a burger as i noticed they serve local sourced beef i did not want Grilled Onions on it so i ask to have them removed because it said something about no changes to the burger on the menu i was told she would ask then i ask for lettuce and tomato on it was told she could most likely ask the kitchen if i could order a side of lettuce and tomato then i could add it at the table thought that was little odd but then when i ask if instead of the AMERICAN cheese not one but proudly put 2 slices of American cheese on the burger if i could have some of the awesome cheeses that they have on the cheese plate on my burger she said Oh No they won't do that . when at the end of dinner ask to speak to the manager she told me that the Owners of the restaurant have told them that was the rules and thats the only way you can get a burger that their restaurant. I will never go back to this restaurant again. so sad kinda liked the place. need to change their menu type above to say Burger not Burgers cause that the only one they have and the ONLY way you can order it The Owners want to protect their burger.
(1)Grant M.
This place is great! I love the area around it too. I got the Polenta Cakes and a burger. Both of them were great! Great atmosphere and service as well.
(5)Krystin G.
Been four times, and its just not good. The menu is limited, salty and overpriced. Plus, Argosy has the privilege of having the worst wait service in EAV. If we ever return, it'll be brief and food-free.
(1)Jill V.
Good food, cool patio, and much better service than most other places in the village. One of the waitresses was visibly strung out on something. I guess that could be a pro or a con depending on your perspective.
(4)Aaron W.
Had lunch on a Saturday afternoon with a buddy and his 15 month old. Service was very polite and attentive. Food was great. Had the beef tip sandwich and a couple great beers. Only complaint is that they didn't have high chairs. There were couples with young children everywhere, but my friend had to hold his son in his lap while we ate. Come on.
(4)Shannon H.
I echo the reviews about noise and spotty service. The staff was never rude, just a little scattered. But the food was pretty tasty and the scene is cool. The polenta cakes were a big hit, along with the cheese plate. Folks also liked the pork chops. Even the simple green salad was a good option. Everyone who had the navigator cocktail enjoyed it.
(3)Reba Jean B.
WHOA! This place is beautiful inside. This came as quite a surprise, you know, being in EAV and all. It's a nice change from the other establishments in the neighborhood. The bartenders were observant and it was a packed bar. The pizzas were OK, nothing to write home about. However, their kitchen is open late and I love having the option to order afer a few cocktails. The layout of the space is interesting. You have one main open space wth two elevated spaces above. My favorite space to have a drink would most definitely be the far end of the bar with loungy chairs, almost a VIP feeling. Yeah, it's uber hip. But else would you want in EAV?
(4)Anthony A.
I didn't try any of the food, so I don't know anything about that (although, I have heard that their burgers are pretty good), but they have an awesome beer selection.
(4)Andy H.
The Argosy is the most beautiful bar I've ever been in. I went by last night for a couple of drinks and spent most of my time taking in the decor. They have no problem running with experimental drink ideas - I threw one at the bartender and he didn't bat an eye. The arcade area isn't finished yet, but they have a fantastic beer (draft and bottle) selection. I would recommend this place for gatherings, romantic evenings, and for nights out to hang with friends. Only four stars because I haven't had a chance to try their food.
(4)Traci S.
First of all, I have to tell Lisa (who gave only one star) that she can stay in her part of town - we don't need someone who gives such a poor rating to a new business anywhere near my neighborhood. Ever heard of a "soft opening?" That's when a business gets the kinks out of their brand new business and people get that. So happy you will not be back! On another note, I went on opening night and it was great! The Argosy is absolutely beautiful - the interior of this spot was worth the wait. Our server did a nice job, if he didn't know something, he asked someone who did. We sat at the bar in the comfy chairs, shared some apps, I had the griddle burger (yummy!) and my friend had the fried chicken. Holy crap that was tasty! And the lemon cheesecake hit the spot for dessert. All in all, it was a pretty good first night and I am proud to have them in my 'hood!

Cool place, friendly bar staff and a huge selection of beers. I have not tried the food yet but look forward to returning and doing so. Of course, parking can be a challenge in little 5 and be sure to be aware of your surroundings but I hope to return here soon and try out some more delicious beers and food. Very cool looking and large space. Well done. Look around at the details and appreciate the time they put into putting this place together!
(4)Sarah N.
I'm pretty sure I'm not cool enough to hang here, but I do anyways. When I came here in the cooler months I thought: this place is perfect for a cold evening: warm wood interior, good beer list, pizza and apps that are filling without being too much - love! Then, when I came back in the warm (read: hot) months I thought: this place is perfect for a hot evening: cool wood seating, refreshing cocktails, lovely scallop dish that is seasonal and light - love! I have yet to go on a really beautiful day but I'm guessing the result will be the same - love!
(4)Molly C.
Recently stopped by The Argosy to check out the latest place in my neighborhood of EAV. The inside is beautiful. The bar looks amazing and the owl mural that surveys the place is awesome. As for the food, we really enjoyed what we ordered: the veggie burger (housemade and outstanding) with a side salad made up of a variety of lettuces, the pork belly sandwich, the Jimmy Jam mini dog with with handcut fries, mussels, and the sweet potato profiteroles. The beer list is extensive, as you'd expect from the people who own The Bookhouse. I'm definitely looking forward to my next visit and highly recommend it.

Took a friend for her birthday dinner last weekend. It was definitely out of our normal hood where we hang out. I love the vibe inside with lots of wood, but since it is 2 stories tall, it is EXTREMELY LOUD. We ende up eating on the patio, which was perfect because the weather was awesome and it wasn't as loud. The service was attentive and friendly. My only "service" complaint was that I asked for my sauce to be served on the side, but it was on my sandwich ....which was slightly annoying, but I let it slide. The sweet potato profiteroles sounded very unusual, so we ordered them...They were awesome! There were 3 on the plate and I could have definitely eaten another one...or two! We also had a beet salad to start, which was good. my friends got the burger, which they raved about and the scallops. They were very happy with both. I ordered the tuna steak sandwich and it was good as well. The french fries were excellent!! I had 2 different cocktails that I was not impressed with, but I would rather have good food than cocktails...much easier to fix the cocktails! I would definitely go back.

Tried Argosy on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Very large, spacious interior with plenty of seating. Attentive service. Most of our food was good. I ordered tasty duck spring rolls. My companion ordered a chili dog with fries, collard greens on the side, and an apple "pie" for dessert. The collard greens were super spicy/vinegar-y to the point of having to be returned to the kitchen. The menu describes a fried apple pie with a side of ice cream which my friend excitedly ordered. However, he was disappointed when the waiter brought out an empanada instead--a little misleading Argosy. Overall, a solid addition to the East Atlanta Village.

After waiting a couple years for this place, my expectations were--almost assuredly way too--high, but I'd be hard pressed to find something to complain about. It's great to see something on the slightly fancier end of the spectrum in East Atlanta Village--a place long known for dives, rock 'n' roll, and cheap food can now be counted on for next-level elegance as well. Ambience: As many have mentioned, this place looks unbelievable. High ceilings, gorgeous booths, miles of bar, nice restrooms, eye-popping murals. Fantastic. Food: We tried tons of it. Profiteroles with sweet potato and chorizo, a burger not unlike Bocado's city-topper, a tasty fried-chicken sandwich with A+ texture, some good-not-great pizza, french fries, spicy-delicious mini-dogs, etc. Almost all of it was awesome, and even where they faltered, it was only barely. Drinks: Their 32 taps are a beer lover's dream. I remember Rodenbach, Bell's Two Hearted, some Clown Shoes, New Holland, etc. As a nice surprise, there was a Boulevard Brewing rep buying beers for anyone who got near him. Nice surprise on opening night. Here's hoping they keep switching the taps up. (I've heard good things about their cocktails, but have yet to try one.) Speaking of surprises, we saw Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth walk in the door while we were eating. Not bad! We'll be back. I look forward to trying the rest of the menu, the cocktails, the much-raved-about desserts, on and on. While my gut tells me to give this place five stars, it seems disingenuous to do so after one meal on opening night. But if they keep it up, there won't be enough stars in the world. Long live The Argosy.

I quite enjoyed everything about Argosy. Met a friend for brunch at the bar. Both of the bartenders were great servers and we never wanted for a thing. My friend had a burger and fries, both of which were cooked perfectly, hot and delicious. I opted for the breakfast menu and went with the "Hasher," brioche French toast covered with corned beef hash, eggs and cheese. I loved everything about it. As the only person in Atlanta that isn't looking for an extensive beer list I had a bit of a hiccup when told they didn't carry any regular beers, but I managed to live. Did me a little good to try something new. The prices, service and food were all excellent. . .as was the atmosphere. I'll be back!
(4)Brandon B.
I think this is my new favorite spot. I really like the location. I love the atmosphere. Service is good, except the "Hipster Mustache Guy" behind the bar. Don't try and judge me and my friends based on what we order to drink dude. The food is pretty standard. If the food stepped up, even a little, I'd consider this the best spot in East Atlanta Village. I really like Argosy. The Fried Polenta Cakes are decent. The "Jimmy Jam" and "The Purp" mini hot dogs are pretty damn tasty. Check this place out.
(3)Rob P.
Went back for the first time since it opened and the improvement to the beer list was astounding. A slight notch below Brick Store and Porter, but honestly not even noticeable. This place has just reached shortlist status on that alone. As an added bonus, the food has also improved. Looking forward to spending a lot of time here.

Out of the universe of details I could start with, I choose to comment on their nitrogenated draft of Dale's Pale Ale. Many other aspects of this bar _ including the food, decor and other beers _ were pleasing, but this is one that stands out. I've spent more time than I care to acknowledge of the last decade trying beers in bars in five cities where I've lived, but using nitrogen on a beer other than Guinness is something novel to me. It works perfectly for Dale's Pale Ale, which benefits from the added creaminess and reduced bitterness. One of the bartenders told me the idea was an accident that occurred when they had an extra nitrogen line but not the stout that was originally intended for it. Overall, as I'm sure others have noted, this is a nice addition to EAV that will serve to skew its mix of bars further away from the diveyness most people associate with the area. As someone who likes to go to this neighborhood but is too lazy to change out of his Polo shirt, it's a welcome refuge. On my last trip, there were several tables with kids eating around 6 p.m. on a Sunday. (And don't get me wrong, I do love dive bars.) The beer selection is great. In addition to the Dale's, I tried a bottle of something by a brewery called Mikeller that had fancy Appollo hops. it was flavorful but also smooth. A bartender said it was his favorite. The bartenders and servers on both my visits were very friendly. The food is solid, including some of the best fries I've had in town. The pizza I had was also great, though a little skimpy on the meats. Its cheese was rich but not too pungent, the sauce had a delicious, sweet tomato flavor and the dough was wholesome, subtly flavored and springy. Another real standout was the Plancha Burger, which I was told is modeled after the Holeman And Finch burger. The combination of cheese, onions and two smaller-than-normal patties gives it the juiciness and unctuous quality that you want out of a bar burger. I compared it to bites of my girlfriend's larger grilled burger, and I have to recommend the Plancha. I'm just hopeful the food stays this good and doesn't decline as the kitchen staff turns over or loses interest, which I've seen happen at other bars with deluxe menus. The decor is great _ lots of whimsical features such as carved wood and knicknacks over the bar. My favorite feature were several suitcase-sized dioramas with taxidermied birds and that history-museum shade of unnatural blue sky in the back. They've also somehow nailed the lighting so that at night it's just bright enough to see, but gloomy enough to get your alone-drinking on if that's what you want. Overall, a great addition to East Atlanta and the city as a whole.

Great decor and spacious. It is so nice that it almost feels out of place in EAV. I like that the bartenders are very attentive and know how to make drinks. My friends enjoy the large variety of beers. I had the veggie burger which was a flavorful. I liked the fries that came with it. My friend got the double stack burger and he ate it all! We will definitely return especially since my friend lives walking distance!

So beautiful. I mean stunning. Food was ok. The minidogs had decent toppings, but the dog itself was only ok. Great drinks. Staff was nice cool and pretty. But they almost all seemed new. To bar tending in general. There were pretty long stretches where my glass was empty and nobody was paying attention. And they seemed impossible to flag down (and yes I know flagging someone down is rude) I think a lot if this is still them ironing out the kinks of being fairly new.

Finally got the chance to check out Argosy and was curious if it would live up to the hype. Located in East Atlanta Village, it seems to have the best of a bar scene and restaurant in one. Great space, large and comfortable, good menu selections as well. Booths, bar tables, and patio seating. Cool spot if you want drinks and bar bites, or a full dining experience. Great cocktail and beer list. We did the dining experience on a Sunday night and enjoyed the cheese plate and crispy duck rolls to start. We split a pizza - the Admiral, while friends enjoyed the hot dogs. A tasty dessert, we loved the fried blueberry and peach pie with ice cream. I'd love to come back on a Fri/Sat night to see what the scene is - as I saw a turntable set up for a DJ ready to go.
(4)Peter S.
Argosy is very kid friendly and our server Jennifer was very helpful and nice. We played Stratego, Sorry, and tic tac toe. It was really fun and we had a good hanger steak, mac and cheese and for dessert we topped the night off with fried apple pie yum! My 10 and 8 year old give Argosy four stars!
(4)Jessica M.
Came here for Scoutmob brunch. First, the decor. Inside, it somehow is reminiscent of a swanky log cabin. Yes this works somehow. And outside, the porch is perfect for eating brunch on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. We started with Bloody Mary's. Holy. Crap. Real pulpy tomato juice, spicy and delicious. I had the BBQ one (it has bacon!) but I tried the other and it also was amazing. Our waiter had a great sense of humor. We were in no rush, and that's for the best. This place has a relaxed vibe. The best, though, was the entree. Steak and eggs, cooked to your specifications. We will be back.

Love their Polenta crispy cake. The pizza is thin. I had the hanger steak and it's done just right - not moo-ing but not dead.
(4)Cameron G.
The inside is beautiful; there are a lot of beers to chose from; and most of the beers are not overpriced. One thing that felt a little strange, though, was that even though we went late, didn't sit at a real table, and were just getting drinks, we had a waitress. It made things a little slower; I think it would have been better if we just got our own drinks at the bar and sat in the couch area on our own. (I'm not sure if the hostess would have allowed that, though.)
(4)Taylor G.
Everything was really delicious and fairly priced for a gastropub. (Gotta pay for those fancy couches somehow.) Great beer menu, and interesting cocktails. Bread from Holeman & Finch and sausage from the Spotted Trotter. Food was mostly very tasty, but a big ol' thumbs down on the Pork Belly Pizza, which was blunt with an unappetizing crust. Fun and classy interior.
(4)William H.
Great venue and decent drinks. Had an old fashioned and it was quite good. Their selection of beer is very good but prices are on the high end, especially when compared to Brickstore in Decatur. Overall, good service and good food.
(4)Christina D.
The drinks and food were excellent. My SO had the roast chicken with the ridiculous New Holland Bourbon//Dragon's Milk cocktail, and I dined on the scallops with the Malbec. Everything was delicious and refreshing, and I love those polenta cakes also. Nice atmosphere, good service (not outstanding, but good and they haven't messed anything up for me yet), cool art on the wall, etc. I hope they expand their wine list a little bit more though.

I may bump this up a star after a few more visits. I typically wait until I've visited a place more than once before writing a review, and especially before claiming a place as my new "spot", but Argosy blew me away! I'm in EAV a whole lot and have been wanting to check out Argosy ever since it opened... even from the outside, it's beautiful. Turns out it's even better inside. I'm a sucker for wood, exposed brick, Edison bulbs, mercury glass, leather, etc. It's the true description for my perfect atmosphere. I went with a friend on a Monday night at 7:30. There weren't many people there, and although it got busier around 8:30, it was never very loud. I'm sure this is much different on the weekend. We were told to seat ourselves, which was a little intimidating, having never seen the interior before- there are all sorts of seating available, from long, tall tables to couches and wooden stump-looking stools surrounding a low table to cozy booths. Let's talk about food, guys. My friend and I both ordered the cripsy fried chicken sandwich and, my god, it was perfect. Super lightly breaded, super crispy; the sesame mayo was flavorful, the bread soft, fresh, delicious, and I just love when chefs go with baby spinach over other greens. The fries were tasty too. I could eat that sandwich every day for forever, but I'm also excited to try more of their offerings. I'm not really a go-out-drinkin' kind of gal, but on those occasions when my friends insist we go out, this will be the destination.
(4)Laurel S.
Love the space and location, but the food is always a little less awesome than it sounds.
(3)Ian R.
A very interesting place. Just looking around was fun, since this place has such an unusual set up. You can't expect much else from a former antiques store. My girlfriend and our guest said their sandwiches were nothing special, but my burger was off the hook good. I think I just got a regular burger with melted cheese and caramelized onions, but damn was that one tasty burger! To add to the Argosy's unique atmosphere they served the meals on cutting boards and poured us water into mason jars. A little kitschy, but it matches with everything else they have going on. The night we went service was slow, confusing, and hard to flag a server down. All of this can be forgiven since they had just opened and it was a Friday night. I'd like to come back on a weeknight and see if the line to get in is as long. I'm not sure how the clientele will work out here, but I felt horribly out of place for wearing a t-shirt. I swear, ever other guy in the place was wearing fashion jeans and a button down shirt. Definitely not what I was expecting for EAV, but a nice change of pace since everything else in the area is so (wonderfully) divey.
(3)Cat D.
I've been here twice so far and I love it. It does get a little loud once it gets crowded, though. For my first trip, we sat at the bar mid-afternoon on a weekend and had the pork belly pizza - delicious! The next time was a Friday evening and it was pretty crowded, but we only had to wait a few minutes for an inside table. We sat in the upper section with a good view of the pizza oven (which was fun to watch) but it did get pretty loud. I was having a hard time hearing the server whenever she came by our table. We had the lemon tarragon pizza, which was also delicious, however, if I had to chose one to have again, I'd pick the pork belly. One last thing... I know my boyfriend will be upset if I don't mention that they have his favorite banana bread beer here.
(4)Hambri Enta M.
The Polenta cakes and the Profiteroles were fun foods that became my entree! I was not in the mood for a burger or the mussels, and this was so delicious I stopped after that! I plan to return! The ambiance and decor are fantastic, as is the front porch area. I am sure this will be packed in the warmer days!
(4)Sarah S.
Beautiful, great food but freezing to the point that I was uncomfortable. Even the hostess was cold.
(3)Scott H.
Good food, reasonably priced craft beers, and superior service at the bar. Love this place. Bartenders are always busy, but make time to offer good advice on all the different beers without attitude.
(5)Gabe S.
This sprawling establishment was pretty busy on my visit. The service was impeccable though. Quick drinks, food arrived promptly, and aside from the relatively high ambient noise in the room, the night was a success. It does start to feel like you're yelling at your friends to be heard though. And I usually like to save my screams for wait-staff and Libertarians.
(4)Allison S.
What a breath of fresh air to the East Atlanta Village! I am so pleased that Argosy has arrived. Since they've opened their doors I've been here about 6 times. Mostly just to drink, though I did have the polenta cakes and they were delicious. I've heard the pizza is wonderful, though have no first-hand knowledge of this. They are well-staffed, I've never had bad service here. There are always at least 3 bartenders behind the bar, which is great because you never have to wait a long time for a drink. At first the mixed drinks were a little on the weak side, but they have since gotten way better about this. The ambiance is wonderful, being inside is a rich experience in itself. The best way I can describe it is... a Brooklyn bar made larger. It has an awesome owl mural, great behind-the-bar decor (haha, I can't figure out how to succinctly describe it), and a huge variety of interesting seating options. There is also a lovely patio - I can't wait to eat brunch on it once it gets warm for good. A good spot, and a nice addition to the EAV scene.
(4)Jacob J.
This place is awesome! They have a great beer selection with a unique menu. You have to try the burger, it is soooooo good! They also have a nice selection of brick oven pizzas. If you have a large group this place has a great open space bar to have a meet up!
(5)Jake V.
Delicious food, extensive beer list, beautiful restaurant all around. Really great place!
(4)Kat V.
I didn't like it. The seats were uncomfortable, the menu was pretentious, the drinks were expensive. But I'm sure the hipsters love it...so that's good.....maybe now I can get my favorite table at the Earl more often.
(2)Dee B.
A HUGE beer selection. I didn't get to try the food, but I really loved the atmosphere here also. Very big place with lots of seating and even couches. Very comfortable.
(5)Leslie C.
Gorgeous place! Great beer selection, and I love that they always have Orpheus on tap! Food is fantastic and the service is friendly and fast, even when they're packed on a Friday night. Love sitting on the patio or at the gorgeous bar. Pizza is fantastic.
(5)Laura C.
It has potential, but I will definitely wait several months to try the food again in hopes that some recipes will be tweaked. The beer menu was exactly what you'd expect from the Bookhouse folks. Excellent. The food was... not excellent. And it was overpriced to boot! The best thing we had was the pork belly kabob appetizer; the mustard sauce was superyum. The worst thing was the sauce on the pizza, no flavor at all. The fact that the crust was outstanding made the blander-than-raw-tofu red sauce all the more offensive in its mediocrity. Hopefully they will "work out the kinks" and I can leave a better review in a few months.
(2)Julia P.
Our food and drinks were very good, but our server was a little hard to come by. The interior is beautiful, and the heated patio is perfect for winter!
(4)Julian G.
We stopped by the Argosy while in the neighborhood for the Living Walls + EAV Block Party. We were surprised to see how big the building was inside. This place had a great vibe. We had already ate dinner so we just grabbed a drink. Their pizza looked very tasty. The beer menu was pretty solid. If you're a fan of the Brick Store Pub or the Porter, you'll like this place. We'll definitely be coming back to try the food.
(4)Natalie A.
I think Argosy is the big brother of the Book House Pub, and they have a similar vibe, but Argosy is much bigger and chiccer, if that's a word. It's a beautiful restaurant with five levels and some gorgeous wood. Yeah, very pretty wood, seriously. The staff are friendly and attentive. The food was excellent. The homemade blueberry/peach pie was delightful with a perfect crust that had to require some serious skill. I prefer the Book House's chorizo burger over Argosy's plancha burger, but as a burger afficionado, I'd recommend either. Great experience. I hope Argosy adds the chorizo burger, and then they'd be perfect and get 5 stars.

I was really looking forward to visiting the long-awaited Argosy and the first thing that struck me was that the hostess at the front door handed the first person in our party of 4, menus and gave her directions to walk up the stairs to find an open booth. WHAT? The hostess didn't actually take us to our table? I expected a higher level of service from the newest addition to EAV that other reviewers have touted as "upscale". The next thing I noticed was what an amazing job the architects and decorators did to the old space that used to house a grocery store. With multi-levels, beautiful light fixtures, artful stained glass behind the bar and several seating options from couches to booths to community tables to intimate, leather chairs and tables for two high above the pizza oven, there is a comfortable place for any sized party to enjoy drinks, small plates or dinner. As other reviewers have said, the menu is short with an emphasis on pork belly, for some reason but none in my party chose a pork belly option. I had the soy, lime marinated and crusted chicken sandwich which was a delicious combination of a southern classic and an Asian flavor. The accompanying fries were good, but sparse. Someone else in my party had the pancho burger and said it was practically a religious experience with the exception of the skimpy serving of fries. A third diner in the party had a pizza and said it was good, but nothing special. The beer menu is much more substantial and we enjoyed all the options our server recommended. Argosy is a welcomed addition to the dining options of East Atlanta and on the whole, my group of friends and I enjoyed our evening spent there. We enjoyed the non-smoking dining room, the atmosphere, the beer offerings and for the most part we enjoyed the food and service. It seems that even after several weeks of patrons' reviews they still have a few kinks to work out but I'm hopeful that they will continue to improve and become a dining destination of residents of other neighborhoods, where more tried and true restaurants are the preference.

I just love this place. We've been monitoring it since the day when they started building it and we got here as soon as we got the chance, just to try it out. Turns out that they serve our favorite pizza in town (The Marge) and that's what we always get, together with a couple of Session Lager beers. Just another excellent excuse to head to EAV :)
(5)Chris F.
Great beer selection that changes every week, non-smoking, outstanding food (try the burger!). So happy this is in my 'hood.
(5)P H.
Now that the word is out, this place is always crowded. I thought the food and vibe were fantastic. Great place for drinks and hanging out.
(4)Jamie H.
Great parking, close to other great places along with a superb selection of beer and pizza makes Argosy a great late night establishment. If you order 2 draft beers after 11pm, you can order a free small cheese pizza. The interior is very cool. My friends had a long discussion of how to do theater in the space. My only complaint is that the cocktails are not that good. But who cares?! This place has a huge selection of beer. And did I mention the pizza???

Hello once again! For a man that smiles a lot imagine my disbelief when I gave this place one star, not for the decor (which is great) but for the way I was treated without ever sitting down and eating and most IMPORTANTLY without a drink ever being ordered. A friend and I were walking around EAV and we spotted this new place I walked in and noticed there were 3 guys sitting around, one politely says we open at 5 it is 330 I responded "oh ok perfect thanks man, this place looks wonderful. WHo would I talk to about a special event or a gathering" The polite man responds with a name "So and So event specialist." The OTHER guy then responds with a "hold on what kind of an event?" I said "I dont know just a large group of friends to check out such an awesome place" He then says "With a DJ?" I say "ummm i dont think a DJ would be needed for a group of friends to chill but I dont know" he then says "umm no we dont do that". My friend was insulted not only by his tone but by his dismissive nature. She approached to say something but I politely said our goodbyes and walked out the door. Like a previous reviewer said (Shyam S.) "I hate feeling like a stranger in my own town". What I noticed is a guy who is trying to protect the "look" and "feel" of his bar and while there is nothing wrong with that he also must understand that MANY bars have tried and failed to keep certain people out. While they may be successful for a while most new bars fail in that regard. While after looking at most reviews I would probably never eat there (to expensive and food apparently not good) and I wouldnt drink there (as previously mentioned about the bartender) but it is disheartening to know that I asked about a reservation for a large group of people and the guy would think I need a DJ to make my experience complete LOL. But like any true yelper I wont let that stifle my potential visit, because in the summer months I shall bring a WHOLE BUNCH OF PEOPLE that look like me to this establishment mostly to see the look on their faces as I bring a whole bunch of smiling people who like to have fun to an establishment that seems to only enjoy people who frown (I hope you didnt think this was about race LOL) See you soon to give a new review of this AMAZING looking place with an Attitude that needs a slight adjustment. Tell em Erik said hello

Argosy is my new favorite restaurant/gastro pub in Atlanta! I've been 6-7 times on most every night of the week. It's the best gastro pub in Atlanta/Decatur. The owners took a huge risk and it totally paid off. The space is the best in the city. It's huge inside and yet it feels intimate. There are 5 levels of seating and 8 separate areas of seating. I've sat everywhere, pretty much. They spared no expense with anything--the lighting, wood, metal, booths, bar. They've got a pizza oven on one side that's gorgeous. The outside door to the patio is a colossal vintage glass garage door, hinged in the middle. The decor behind the bar is quirky and fun and the huge owl painting up top is stunning. The beer selection is outstanding, as good or better than any place in Atlanta--Brick Store Pub, The Porter, Bookhouse Pub. They had 30 or so beers on tap, with lots of big, hoppy beers (my favorites). The food is outstanding. I've had their veggie burger 4 times. Twice it was the best veggie burger I've had in Atlanta of the 20 or so places I've tried (Once it was just very good and the other was just good). The salads are fantastic, the little hot dogs are very good, too. The outside is smoking, which sucks. It is East Atlanta, though, so that comes with the territory. Fantastic place. I'll keep going back.

Take note that most of the higher rated reviews are regarding the atmosphere, decor and beer list. Isn't this a restaurant too? If they didn't attempt to serve food I might also have given them a higher rating. With the exception of the sweet potato profiteroles the food was terrible! Only to be matched by the worst service I've ever experienced. (They were busy and we sat at a table near the bar, served by a bartender, who was too busy with too many tables to be able to see us more than to take our orders, take our payment, and bring us a refund. She also took orders with her hands full of dirty glasses, our waters were never filled- in fact the empty glasses were removed from the table, with no opportunity to ask for a refill, we were unable to ask for condiments and waited for napkins even though we had ordered wings.) I like to give the management a chance to redeem themselves when everything else is awful, but we were dismissed with a cash refund for the one item we managed to send back (duck wings- gamey and tough and drowned in sweet chili sauce, might as well have been a turkey neck or a pig ear- drowned in that sauce it would all taste the same). We had the burger (no condiments offered or available) with salad (terrible version of ranch) the pork belly pizza (sprinkled with bits of pork belly on a mostly sausage pizza, the sauce is miserable- tasted like tomato paste, not seasoned in the least, with huge leaves of basil on top- what happened to a chop or a chiffonade?) the fried chicken sandwich was panko crusted (not seasoned at all), too big for the bun, with scarce toppings that only made for one or two bites with flavor, and the side of pickled corn salad which tasted like pickle (the red peppers, the corn, whatever else was in there, all just vinegar flavored with no distinction between the ingredients). I was not only disappointed but insulted. How do you dare serve a mediocre sandwich next door to The Earl (where everything is humbly described but overwhelmingly delicious)? Or across the street from Urban Cannibals (where the menu is evolving, creative and palette pleasing)? And how should I cut them slack for their grand opening, shouldn't everything be at it's best then, if never again? The beer list is great. The space is beautiful and i'd like to be thankful for another non-smoking spot to catch dinner with my family, we live within walking distance, but we won't be dining here again until the menu has changed.
(2)Seve M.
Incredibly stellar atmosphere and incredible beer list. Food is great and comes out fast. There is a bearded man that is the best server in the house. The bar is fun and trendy as well. I only rated it four rather than five stars because all of the servers I have had have been rather terse and unfriendly. I will still continue to patron this lovely establishment
(4)Amanda G.
Yay! I was so excited to see this new(er) spot in EAV. I love wood...I'm talking about wood made from trees (get your mind out of the gutter), and there's wood everywhere here. What I mean to say in a more eloquent way is that the architecture and design of Argosy is both artistically pleasing and comforting. I suppose it reminds me of my home town bars in NH. The inside is really huge and the small outdoor patio is great for a lovely day. The food was hit or miss as I tried a few items. Salad was just ok, but polenta cakes = YUM! I like their beer list with good options on tap and our server was good, if also eccentric. The nice thing about such a big and diverse bar is you can go with many friends, for a party, or just for a drink with your partner.
(4)Emily H.
I want to love this place, and someday soon, I'm sure I will. My friend and I are semi-retired servers with over a decade of experience under our belts. This means that we know what restaurants are up against in their first two weeks of opening. We know that EVERYONE is waiting with baited breath to praise or more often to criticize at every move. We know that no one person is at fault for sub-par product - was it the supplier? The prep guy? The chef? The waiter who sort of forgot? The food runner who let it sit too long under the heat lamp? It is everyone's fault and no one's fault. And everyone deserves a second chance. But it says a lot when two waitresses leave after two appetizers because they were so bad that we were legitimately concerned about ordering anything else on the menu. We asked the server for a recommendation, and the sweet but too-busy-to-care-all-that-much hipster quickly rattled off the three most expensive options (you can't fool us, bro - that's the oldest trick in the book, and that's what got us through college). We were straight up scared, and nothing looked good enough to try. So we left...and we were bummed. I can't wait to give Argosy a second chance. The space is incredible - I want to bring everyone here because it feels like a place where I can actually have a lively, meaningful, coherent conversation with friends. The bar is phenomenal, and will probably be my new favorite place to drink this summer. The menu has huge potential - just slow down and quit cooking the stuff to death. The staff seem lovely, if not more focused on working out the opening week kinks than actually providing good service - unless being too-cool-to-smile is sort of the schtick. One obvious start for a smoother operation? Give your hostess a seating chart and a decent system to manage the wait. This is not a diner, and names and numbers on a clipboard is not how you manage a large, booming bar-and-booth service area. We were forgotten about because we weren't written into the scribble, and its cool because we expected to wait, but...really? The poor girl must get so much abuse because she lacks a simple resource to do her job well. That being said, we'll be back because we get it. And Argosy probably gets it. And we know they're reading these reviews, and taking it all into stride as they see fit. Can't wait to see this place succeed. And that being said...are they hiring?
(3)Michael I.
First time in East Atlanta Village. Street side parking, interesting street life. Unique decor, seated promptly on Friday night 8:00pm. Friend recommended Planche Burger - delicious! Also enjoyed hummus along with NA beer from Germany. Not so loud you couldn't hear the person across the table. I would definitely return to EAV to sample again. Cheers!
(4)Genevieve M.
When I go to a bar in EAV, I want to question if my glass is clean. This being said, Argosy is a shameful attempt at normalcy. Simply, it's an orchestrated smoke and mirrors ploy... thinly veiled at that.
(2)Jon P.
This place is stunning inside and there is so much to see. Everywhere you look there is something cool and interesting. I had dinner recently and ordered the Admiral pizza from the menu along with a cold beer - (they have some good brews here) - the pizza was a little blah, edible, and tasted like school lunch pizza, the square variety. After talking with the waiter she said that many of the items on the menu, including the pizza, were there to accommodate us East Atlantans. (Who stereotypically, I guess have no taste, wear tight jeans, and only drink PBRs.) She said the chef really places most of his focus on the Mains which change periodically throughout the year. ( she made it seem as though everything else on the menu sucks). I'm going to continue to go back and try new things - the beer, drinks, and atmosphere are worth 5 stars so I'm giving it a four. Thanks for coming to EAV Argosy, look forward to many more visits.
(4)Clarissa T.
Great spot. Beautiful inside and amazing food. Mac and cheese is to die for, burgers are mouthwatering as well as the turkey sandwich. Area of town is very chill and inviting. Parking is slim, but a must see spot.
(4)Broderick S.
I like this place, awesome vibe, you'd never realize how large it is based on the outside. Love the smoked turkey sandwich on ciabatta - great selection of craft beers on tap, & best of all - nonsmoking!
(4)mike h.
I would say this restaurant is a stronger bar. I love the decor and atmosphere and would be happy to return for drinks only. For food there was a 30 minute wait for a table. Granted this may have unfairly elevated my culinary expectations thinking this was a popular venue vs. just being new. When our table was ready the hostess simply pointed in a general direction and said it was upstairs. Now I've never been a hostess, but I imagine escorting people to tables would be in the top 5 of their job responsibilities. Once seated we had a burger and chicken sandwich which were fairly average at a slightly above average price. I guess the two star rating comes from the duck wings. In my mind... Chicken wings are good + Duck is good = Duck wings should be amazing. In reality they are just more difficult to eat chicken wings with little meat. Apparently there is a reason you don't see them on more menus.
(2)Nicole P.
I felt like I was inside a pirate ship at this place...really cool! Loved my chili dog and watermelon beer. I was with a big group, so I would like to come back and see how much better it would be with me + 1 or 2 other people. This place gets pretty loud, but to have that much space, it's kind of expected.
(4)Lydia T.
I enjoy the pubs and bars in EAV but we needed to up the bar a tad and Argosy does just that. The food and service is first rate and the atmosphere is fantastic. I have brought friends and business relations to this place and everyone loves it. We need a wider variety of restaurants to keep it exciting. I'm happy that Argosy is here and doing well.

Hallelujah EAV, finally somewhere devoid of a PBR can on every table coupled with the nauseating stench of stale cigarette smoke wafting through the entire dining space. I was reminded of a favorite NYC haunt (Beauty & Essex) as I walked up glancing at their newly erected sign. This place has great potential in a sea of not so great East Atlanta dining options..We were promptly greeted and seated at the open booth style retro couches to the right as you walk in. I really enjoy the space, I was somehow transported to a wanna be hipster lodge in Aspen or better yet, my own hood!! I get that this is more of a craft beer spot so I was a tish disappointed in the limited wine offerings (my preferred method of libation consumption) but the server suggested a reasonably priced bottle that was fine for the evening. We ordered the sweet potato profiteroles stuffed with a local goat cheese mousse. The mousse was light and fluffy, almost an ethereal texture but lacked a little goat cheese sharpness. Overall, these were quite delightful and we ordered up a second round for our late joining guests, who enjoyed them equally as much. I'm not so much of a meat eater, but on a rare occasion I will indulge in a burger. This was one of those nights. I ordered the double patty offering with caramelized onions and my dining companion ordered their other burger with Havarti as they wanted to select a meat temp (another challenge in EAV, well done everywhere regardless of meat temp order). Her burger was cooked perfectly and the fries were piping hot and delicious. Mine was also cooked well and tasted great. In closing, I'm grateful to have a spot in my own neighborhood that I can now walk to and enjoy a great meal in smoke free environment. The only reason I didn't give you 5 stars was because we were about to order another bottle of wine and possibly dessert when your Monday DJ for the evening started to spin. I love a great DJ, frequent other spots in town, Sound Table, etc. but I'm sorry I do not relish a fab space, great service, lovely food, fantastic craft beer selection in conjunction with anger invoking death metal piped over the sound system. In my humbled (well maybe not) opinion, does the square peg really fit in the round hole here?!! Plus, it cleared out the bustling Monday night crown within 15 minutes. Call me what you will but my days of angst are over, I enjoy being happy and listening to music that encourages that sense of well-being. But thank you Argosy for everything else pleasant last night, I will be back again tonight and I'm bringing new peeps!!

As opposed to most places trading on their "mixology" reputations (whose bartenders tend to confront patrons with the kind of snide arrogance of a philosophy TA fresh off a Schopenhauer jag), the drinks at Argosy were on-the-money crafted and offered without pretense - a combination of qualities that encourages me to dream up and place fussy, hipster drink orders rather than making me feel like I'm inadequately defending a thesis. Both the simple and fussier drinks were well poured. The spinach salad and Merchant pizza were creative, balanced, fresh and delicious. (I won't recount them; the ingredients are on the menu.) Well-conceived casual fare, prepared by someone who's running the kitchen like s/he gives a damn, served by friendly knowledgeable staff, offered at value prices in a rehabbed building that feels cozy and well laid out despite its enormity. Yes, please, and thank you. Finally, a place in EAV I want to go back to - and that I'm proud to take visiting guests as a somewhat more upscale alternative to the great EARL. EAV is dotted with less successful attempts at the same concept and market; none of them is nearly as good as Argosy. Every other gastropub in ATL is on notice.

I liked this place. Very cool space and food and drinks were decent too. Will definitely go back. This is a good place to go with friends.
(4)Carlos A.
Came here for a couple of drinks with a couple of friends from out out town. This bar has a great selection of beers and the ambiance was cool. It was, of course, being the EAV hipster central but at least they were all very nice.

Ambience and atmosphere nice! The menu is limited and the food is awful, lackluster, and bland. We arrived with great expectations with it being a new restaurant in East Atlanta... But we were immediately let down. I will admit I may try it again in a few months as I can imagine they will revamp the menu. If they do not change the menu this place is doomed for failure or will turn into a beer joint. You can't mess up or serve bad beer can you?! :-/ I hope the owner comes on yelp and reads the reviews.
(1)Nancy H.
Actually this was their "soft" opening so that they can work out the kinks. The Grand Opening is next week. I haven't been but the reviews on EAVBUZZ.NET have been incredible (and that's a hard crowd to please). I can not wait to add them to my list of favorites in EAV. I gave them 5 stars just for opening such a beautuful place in my 'hood.
(5)Shae R.
This place is amazing. The staff rocks and their pizza, hotdogs, fries, really anything is off the chain. They're also gluten and dairy free friendly and will cater to your allergies, making sure they don't cross contaminate. Their drink menu was created by one of the bar tenders and he did a great job.
(5)Karen F.
Awesome food or awesome drinks. It's rare that you get both. But at Argosy, I honestly can't even choose which is better. Their beer selection is awesome. They have a cocktail called the Strawberry Letter that I have dreams about. Their mac and cheese is honestly the best I have EVER had. The scallops were to die for. I did wish I got more for $18, but are there REALLY ever enough scallops? Service is stellar and the restaurant itself is so awesome you almost forget how boring your real life is.

Went with a large group for a friend's birthday and the staff was more than accommodating! The space is incredible and HUGE! The theme is sort of outdoorsy hipster lodge meets 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and the owners did not scrimp on design; it is beautiful inside and the outdoor patio will be hot spot come Summer. Seriously, I want to steal the portholes! Some of the dishes ordered by our group: Red Curry Pizza - AMAZING!!! Polenta Cakes, Olive appetizer, Red hots - All very good Jimmy Jam w/ slaw - little, but very good Chicken sandwich - meh (described as cafeteria-like by one friend) Veggie burger - so-so Salads - all very good Pork chop - very good Large beer selection and several cocktails - I had the Honey Mary and it was pretty good. Great addition to East Atlanta!

Fabulous atmosphere! Excellent service! Best burger I've ever had, and I'm picky! Pizza special appetizer was fabulous! Mac n cheese side a must!

As others have already commented, the space is beautiful - whoever was in charge of interior design deserves plaudits, and a raise. This was our second visit to Argosy, both times for brunch, and we thoroughly enjoyed both visits. Started with the BBQ Bloody Mary - just what the dr. Ordered for a Sunday am. Be warned that it's got a bit of a spicy kick, but I found it delicious, and even better with the thick slab of bacon and pickled okra garnish. Little lady had the steak and eggs - the tomato sauce with the steak was very flavorful, and the steak itself was well prepared. Grits/eggs were standard, nothing to standout, but were well prepared. I had the banana pancakes - these were delicious, but I was only able to finish 1/2 of my plate. If you're going with these, I'd recommend ordering this and a savory brunch entree with your dining partner, and going half and half to avoid a sugar overload. We love the space, and noticed a dj booth on the way out, and can't wait to come back and check it out in the evening - there's an excellent beer list, and the wood fired pizzas look great as well.

Very helpful on accommodating myself and my friends for a birthday dinner. I called them to fit a party of 15 and even though they didnt really have the space available, they were able to fit us in and make more room for us. The food is great and their beer and drink selection was amazing.
(5)Melissa K.
Amazing place. Perfect atmosphere. Great food.
(5)Steve T.
Argossy keeps improving. Their fries were homemade and the best I've had in a very long time. Our waiter was quick, friendly, and helpful. The double burger was even better than the last time I tried it. My friend loved the pepperoni pizza (the crust looked perfect). Great beer selection, good pricing, easy parking - my first choice for a casual meal in East Atlanta. Love the space, too.

I've been to Argosy twice now in the past two weeks, both last Saturday and this past Saturday night. The interior design is very, very cool. I had grown pretty tired of the typical hipster gastropub staples: pine wood, lots of exposed elements, aluminum everywhere, those same loop bulbs in a basic fixture, and, of course, hipsters serving you. Argosy advances this aesthetic with some very unique touches including small mini-terrarium type scenes above the bar, unique light fixtures above the bar itself as well as above each table, and a really wonderful open design that lets everyone see the whole restaurant from just about wherever you're sitting. The main plus about this addition to EAV is that there is NO SMOKING. This is huge for families, pregnant women, and people like me who moved from cities with strict smoking laws (Dallas, San Francisco) and are used to smoke-free eating. And, luckily, the food is really great. I've now had both the fried chicken sandwich and the pork belly sandwich, and they were both great. My friends had the plancha burger, which looked amazing. We had the sweet potato profiterole appetizer as well as the polenta cakes, and they were both hard to beat. Actually, the apps beat out the entrees on both occasions. The service was great on both occasions, and the wait was much shorter than the estimate we were given each time. Extensive and well thought out beer list. Summary: Ambience: 5 stars Food: 4 stars Service: 5 stars
(5)Hoho M.
They still have a few kinks to work out, but for the most part, I've enjoyed my visits to Argosy so far. Decent prices, great brunch, great appetizers, great craft beer selection. I really enjoyed their tri-tip sandwich as well. That cool interior alone is worth making the trip. Check it out! Although, if you're not crazy about crowds, avoid weekend nights.
(4)Keith T.
Beautiful building! Probably the nicest looking bar in Atl. Horrible service though. Bad attitude bartender really ruined our day out. Holy Taco recovered our outing!
(1)P S.
Probably the most amazing interior for a bar/resturant I've ever been in. Its a blend of game of thrones with an old new england clipper ship with the wood paneling, beauitful light fixtures and ambiance. Staff is rad, super friendly, hot, and on point! The drinks are top notch, the sweet potato puff things are delicious, hanger steak is bomb and sammy steak with kimchi mayo and siracha was outta this world! But hands down the plancha burger is perfection. Get that promise it won't disappoint.
(5)Dan K.
the space is great -- the pizza ( i had a cheese and a pepperoni) was mediocre - the rice cakes were not very good at all -- Red wine was good - it is just a fun hangout bar with mediocre food in EAV
(3)Fredrik W.
I visited Argosy for the first time yesterday. We sat close to the bar and sampled the extensive beer list. The selection of draft beers was inspiring and quite good. In contrast to some of the other posts, our server was very attentive and despite a full house she would preempt our needs throughout the evening. I did not eat but if you are looking for a good beer in EAV I can recommend this place.
(4)Bludger D.
Amazing atmosphere and bar. Fantastic beer selection. The place is truly beautiful inside. If only they would have put a fraction of their effort into the food quality and menu. Speaking of the actual menu, you need a magnifying glass to read the extremely small font... The appetizers are very small and not that appetizing. The pizzas are just OK. The rest of the entrees and salads have been bland. Please Argosy, start working on making your menu worthy of the space you serve it in. EAV wants you step it up.
(2)Moses K.
This place has better than average bar food. The service was crazy slow and, at times, nonexistent. I was only served on glass of water for my entire meal. Once we received the check, I immediately placed my credit card down, and it sat there, and sat there, and sat there. I noticed that there was one server for 10 tables in the outdoor seating area, and there were 23 customers. Perhaps it's not the server's fault, but he should have spoken up. His apparent failure to recognize what was going on and get the manager's help is indicative of the level of service we received. I would not place this on my must go-to list.
(3)Hungry B.
Space is incredible. Beer list is strong. That's about where it stopped. The hostess was more of a traffic cop -- pointed rather than sat us. Server was pleasant but nothing special. Menu was limited and disappointing. It's great if you want to be clever and serve interesting dishes but what you do serve should be great and there should be a few more basic items. Not everything has to have pork belly or whatever the trending ingredient of the day is.
(2)Ginger G.
The place visually is amazing. I went with 5 friends. Birthday girl recommended it. We sat at the bar and quickly realized table service would have been a better choice. The bartenders could care less you are there. The 5 of us came at the same time but the bartender got one drink at a time instead of taking the complete order. One friend waited twenty minutes to get something and went ahead and ordered 2 drinks considering the wait. While waiting the bartender was at other side of bar taking shots. Lance then gave us our second round but not until he acted like an ass to the bday girl because of the shot she ordered. At last call I was in the restroom. When returning I asked if he was still serving if and if not could I have my tab(he was standing at the computer ) he looked at his watch and said no then walked away poured a round of shots for ppl behind us. While I was waiting for my tab... guess we weren't cool enough or not regulars to be served another drink. I work in the industry and if my bartenders made guest beg for drinks instead of being willing to SELL them to them they would not behind my bar. Making paying guest feel unwelcomed is not something an establishment should project.
(2)Jeremy C.
We went here just for a few beers and stayed for a while. This is hands down the nicest bar in EAV. The Buffalo Pops were awesome. Good to have a nice non-smoking bar in EAV!
(5)Whitney H.
The decor is absolutely beautiful! I love all of the creative wood work and artwork. The food is good and the beer list is extensive. Every time I've been here, the food has come out super fast and everyone was happy with their meals. I'm also stoked to have a nonsmoking restaurant with a great bar to enjoy drinks with friends.
(5)Cary W.
Really attractive space, haven't tried too many food choices but atmosphere and service have been great. A fine addition to EAV.
(3)K S.
Pretty cool bar and the atmosphere was nice for a late afternoon meal. We had the pizza and it was pretty good. We also tried a beer recommended by our waiter and it was also very good. Unfortunately I cannot remember the name but it was a dark ale with a nice flavor. I would definitely recommend this place if you are in the area.
(3)G R.
This place is awesome! Went here last night with a group of 10 girls to celebrate a birthday and had a great time! The food was absolutely delicious - the Plancha Burger and mac'n'cheese were amazing! Even the cheese plate was mouth watering. The service was incredibly friendly and was great at accommodating a large group. Without us even asking, the server split the birthday girl's meal across all checks. Definitely worth checking out!

I finally made my way over last night. There was no wait as it was rainy, Monday, and early 5:00 PM. Musical selection was good. Atmosphere was wonderful. We sat at the bar in the cushy chairs. We had a bottle of the "Perfect Pinot" and it was good. As for the food, we went with Grilled Pork Belly Kabobs (perfectly cooked and very nice smokey flavor with fresh fennel and red bell peppers...YUM). We also had the Mussels (steamed in a pan-asian broth with some veggies that added a nice subtle crunch - toasty French Bread was included but I didn't eat it.). We also had a salad with Red Goddess dressing - which was a little sweet for me but my friend LOVED it~~~ For dinner, we had the Grilled Branzino (A whole grilled Branzino fish with pea shoots and fingerling potatoes - The fish was PERFECTLY cooked with just the right amount of fatty crunch on the skin, shoots were seasoned enough to pair perfectly with the fish.) and The Chop Flap (Can't really remember the name but it was akin to a pot roasted beef with creamy shitake mushrooms and collard greens - the meat was very tender and the mushrooms paired nicely with the flavor of the beef, the greens had enough acidity to cut through the richness of other items.). After ALL that, there was no room for dessert ;-) Apparently, this is a limited menu so I'm excited to see what else is in store for selection. The pizzas looked pretty good and the other sandwich items. I am happy to see a wide variety in price range and selection to keep me coming back. Overall, I was very happy with the dining experience and look forward to many returns~

The restaurant had only been open two days, so it was crazy busy. Great atmosphere. They have a wide selection of beers that I had never even heard of; plus the usual. There is a huge patio which open up to the street. The food was excellent. Our waitress was very pleasant. It did take a while to get our food and drinks, but what do expect when at the opening of a trendy place like this.
(5)Meredith E.
Went to The Argosy on their second night open - it is BEATIFUL (Love the Owl). The food was fantastic - had the Crispy Chicken and Collards - Delicious! Can't wait to go back and try it again!
(5)D L.
Argosy felt like I just walked into an industrial moose bar in Aspen, CO. It feels super cozy here and the wait staff are very nice. Don't expect your typical bar food & drink (e.g. Taco Mac/T.Mac). Brews here are craft and the food is gourmet. We came here to celebrate my birthday and they were very accommodating. We ordered several dishes from the menu including a pork shoulder special, topped with a coca-cola roulade - VERY GOOD. I can't remember what else we ordered (I don't remember much of that night), but I do remember everything tasting great. I'll be back for their bottomless sake on Sundays. I've already tried the sake (the owner of Argosy is a purveyor of small batch sake from Japan) and it's DELICIOUS!

Went here for dinner with friends. The place itself has great decor and atmosphere however, food and service - what really matters to me - were both disappointing. Service - our waitress was just ok, not rude but not friendly or engaging. Not very good at answering questions regarding menu items or at selling their foods. Food - we tried the edamame hummus as an app. The hummus itself was not bad but it came with not-so-great tortilla chips. For dinner, we tried the veggie burger and the grilled tuna sandwich. The veggie burger was the most bizarre veggie burger I've ever had. Small, dry, starchy, bland patty on a large bun with a lot of dry arugula and feta cheese in it. Regardless of how disappointing the veggie burger was, it could never be worse than the grilled tuna sandwich. It was an overcooked, dry, under seasoned piece of tuna on a large bun with some picked onions and arugula. I actually could not go past the first bite. Yes, it's a pretty place but it's in ATL. There are plenty of its kind with much better food. I would definitely not come back or recommend it.

Honestly, you can't go wrong at Argosy. From the minute I first walked in, I knew that this was a spot worth returning to time and again. Great beer selection. Killer menu items, including plenty of thoughtfully prepared vegetarian options. Stellar service. I have to admit, though, one of my favorite elements in the Argosy equation is the decor. Seriously. It's the kind of place I want to hang out for hours on end. On a recent evening, we kept noting that the music selection and remarked that it was really noteworthy and enjoyable. (But within moments of singing a rousing "Lean On Me" it turned into some 80s hair metal...alas!) Bathrooms are clean and quiet. Parking is plentiful (or street parking is free if the lot happens to be full).

If not the beer, then definitely the murals. If not the murals, then definitely the patio. If not the patio, then absolutely the food. If not the food, then it's the beer. It's a vicious cycle, Argosy. What you have to offer always blows me away. And, to make matters even greater, I recently had a surprise birthday party in this fine establishment and it was wonderful. For the short time that we've lived in Atlanta, Argosy has been a great go-to for beers and gastronomically formidable foodstuffs. The beer list(s) are always changing and tend to span a wide variety of locals, imports, and others. Always been pleased with the lineups. The food is astoundingly good. Pizzas, great burgers, sandwiches, and the entrees are pretty daring for a joint with their setup. I've had the tuna burger before, mac n' cheese, and the grass-fed burger with no bun and a side of the curry brussels. Take the opportunity to try the curry brussels next time and share them with your table. A new take on brussels sprouts for me, but the flavors really grow on you. I really have to hand it to Argosy. They have a fantastic space with tons of multi-level seating. Parking is pretty easy, too, as they have quite a bit of real estate for parking around the building. Can't wait to head back, as always.
(4)Mary L.
Can't say enough good things about this place. We were quoted a 15 minute wait and were seated in five. Couches were comfortable and the service was awesome! Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. I had the veggie burger with fries: it was delicious! I was told the burger was edamame based, which is a nice change from your typical frozen veggie patty. My boyfriend had a regular burger has said was very good. Our group tried the salted blondie brownie and it was also fantastic. Reasonably priced plus free parking.
(5)Erin O.
The first time we were here it was great, but the last time was so bad that I'm not sure if we'll ever be back. It took over 45 minutes for our food to get to us, then some of it was stone cold & some of it wasn't correct. The waitress told us that some of the guys in the back were new & they didn't know that they were supposed to mix "old fries with new fries". TMI. It also smelled very strongly of bleach. It's good to know they are clean, but the smell was overwhelming. Perhaps we'll wait a while & give it another try. It's really pretty inside & we live really close to it, so I hate to rule it out completely.
(2)Carolina M.
High expectations for this bar/restaurant were met! I only wish this place weren't so far away from me. Excellent space to hang out where it doesn't feel too claustrophobic and it seems they put a lot of thought into decorating the space. I really like the back room because it's got the high ceilings, Skee-ball, shuffleboard, and that one booth that makes you feel like you're inside a tree. Oh, and there's another bar in the back so you don't have to walk all the way to the front to get a drink.Oh, and the patio in the front was surprisingly comfortable even on a hot day. There's enough air circulation and most of it is covered. Pros: - Decent drink menu with lots of craft beers - Some good food too (more later) - Lots of seating - Amazing decorated space Cons: - Parking, but this is true for anything in EAV Things we ate... Fries with Yum Sauce: Love the yum sauce. It's got a bit of soy, but it's garlicky and creamy. The fries were crispy and not too oversalted. I really wanted another order of this. Plancha Burger: This burger is alright and will satisfy a cheeseburger craving. Broccolini: This is a side order where it's cooked to the point of being crispy and still flavorful with chili flakes. I would get this again. Mac n Cheese: This seemed to be under-seasoned. Pork Belly app: This was a small piece, but it's a juicy, fatty cut. It's delicious, but not memorable.

I like Argosy. I think it's a cool space. The interior is mighty rad. Like everyone else has said, it's beautiful. It's sexy. And they know it along with everyone else. Pros: -Awesome beer selection that is constantly changing. -Lots of seating. Inside and outside. -Huge bar. -Atmosphere. Cons: -Not child friendly. -Sometimes the food is under seasoned. -Can be a tad pretentious. It's hilarious to me that there's a variety of different people that go to Argosy..This includes families. BUT, they don't have high chairs or a kids menu. They do have booster seats that suck (no straps), which I guess is okay, but most young children need restraints because they are constantly trying to get up and run around. Is this a tactic to try to defer families? Food is alright to me. Sometimes underwhelming though. My first visit I got the Spicy Popcorn as an appetizer, very good. And my entre was the Fried Catfish Sandwich. It was a tad bland. It needed some more seasoning in the breading and some lemon juice to brighten it up. And the second time I got the Cuban with Sesame Kale. Cuban was good, just needed a little more of the mustard. And the Sesame Kale Salad left a lot to be desired. Service was alright. Both times a little douchy. Sometimes slow. But, overall not bad. I think Argosy is good for a night at the bar. But, that's probably what they're looking for. But, that's a shame because they would be better if they made it slightly more family friendly...and over all friendlier.
(3)Danny L.
Hallelujah there is free parking in the back lot of the building! You can't miss Argosy off the street; they have a big sign on the storefront. The atmosphere is great. They have a large patio area (that can be heated if needed) that opens up through their glass garage door. The space inside is super spacious, as well. This place is great for large groups and it's really chill. They also have some decent decor inside. The food is a hit or miss. We started off with some boiled peanuts, shrimp n crab dip, buffalo bbq chicken pops, and hummus. The boiled peanuts were a fail. They were under cooked and had no seasoning. Definitely not the soft, salty(or cajun), Southern boiled peanuts that I'm used to. The buffalo bbq chicken pops were okay; a bit sweet, probably because the bbq. They were average. The real downside is that they were cold by the time they made it to our table. They probably sat in the window too long before getting expedited. The shrimp n crab dip was the best appetizer we tried. It was really cheesy, but I was surprised that the dip came out really yellow because the menu said the base was cream cheese and buttermilk. Maybe from the color of the corn rubbed off? Anyways.. I got the cowgirl ribeye for my entree, which came with a horseradish sauce, potatoes and bell peppers, and creamed spinach. I don't have much to day, the ribeye was way too charred. The burnt taste was really overwhelming. The creamed spinach was bland. Although the plating/presentation was on point. Most others in my group said they enjoyed their food. Maybe I just got unlucky tonight. At the end of the day, I guess I didn't come here for a Michelin star meal; bar food is bar food. My expectations were MORE based on how good their beer list is and how cool the atmosphere is; which this place has. But if you're going to be a gastropub, the food can't be so hit or miss. Overall, this place is solid, there's enough balance between the positives and negatives.

So I visited Argosy because it was part of a bachelorette party itinerary. At first I was concerned about them accommodating our large party but that was no problem, as they gave us the entire second floor to sit on. We noshed on some delicious appetizers while the restaurant patrons glady participated along in our party shenanigans. I had the Plancha burger, which people have likened to be similar to the H&F burger. While good and kind of close, it's not the same. But it was a good burger. I also tried the asiago mac and cheese and the sweet potato chips that are made in house. They were very delish! I'm going to assume it wasn't known in advance that this place isn't your typical bar-they are more about their beer than the other liquor so don't come here thinking you can get a girly frou-frou drink (one of my friends asked for an apple martini and got her feelings hurt lol). They can make the basics though. All in all this was a good visit. I can see myself coming here again.
(4)Craig R.
Actually i just stopped in here for drinks but i really enjoyed hanging out here. They have a huge selection of beer including several local breweries. Their house drinks are really good also, my favorite was the Sergio. Will definitely be back.
(4)Michael O.
This is my go-to spot when I'm around the Moreland area. I really really like this place! The atmosphere, clientele, customer service, menu and parking are all up to my standards. Their veggie burger, their fries and their Chicken Pops are amazing! My only complaint is that I LOVE 'Moscow Mules' and yes they do serve them, just WITHOUT the actual Copper Mule that it's supposed to be served in. It felt weird drinking a 'MM' out of a regular glass. Just saying... But, other than that...I'm in love with this place! You can eat drink and have a good time for under $40.
(5)Charlotte K.
I love this place. The meat pizza specifically is delicious. The pizzas are big enough to share, and the pork belly small place on some deviled egg purée things is insanely good. Good service and parking available. We went on a Sunday and it was not crowded so I can't speak for peak hours.
(5)Nauman B.
The gem of east atlanta. Start with white Moscow mule and then the lamb burger; simply scrumptious. The servers are very friendly and that's just cherry on cake.
(4)Mick D.
I'd heard many good things about Argosy, so a friend of mine and I FINALLY went to check it out. Argosy did not disappoint. We fell in love with the place immediately. Service was quick and attentive. Multiple folks made really good suggestions, and the fact is that you are not likely to go wrong with anything on this menu. My friend and I shared some beets, the pork belly kababs, and a pizza. The Beets were fantastic. The beet chips really balanced out against the rest of the dish. The pickled beets in the dish had a nice sharpness that played well with the creaminess of the sour-cream. I will happily order this thing again. Pork belly kababs were good, but the description said something about a chipotle influence which just seemed like it was missing. Still, as I said, it was good. I just wanted it to have a small kick or a smoky burn. Our Mutiny On The Bounty pizza was really, very nice. Normally I like vegetarian pizzas, but this one was really good. It wasn't too saucy, and they seem to be using some high quality mozzarella. And that fennel sausage was excellent. The crust was a really good consistency. It was thin, but not so thin it felt like a cracker. I think they've perfected their pizza practice. Argosy is dark and comfortable. The nautical theme is pretty cool. And the music isn't too loud. I was easily able to carry on a conversation with my friend. I will happily look forward to going back. Holler if you're coming with.
(4)Chan V.
I've been to Argosy twice. The first time was early fall. I came in late night for dessert and drinks on the adorably cool patio. I had some kind of apple crisp with ice cream. I had some kind of apple cider with that dessert. Must be the apples because I felt that first crisp fall air that night at Argosy which I love! I returned to Argosy again this past week. The patio was crowded so I sat at the bar. The experience this time was spring fling. I enjoyed an ottimo spritze which is a woodsy citrus cocktail. The mutiny on the bounty was one of the best brick oven pizza I had in a long time. The spicy pepperoni made the pizza unique and totally worthy! My first time trying food here and I'm curious what the rest of the menu taste like. This place is great for late night hangout, first dates and simply good eats.
(5)Mary T.
Argosy! I saw that my Yelp! buddy Trevor W. mention how good this place was, so I mentioned it & guess what? I was surprised & taken here that night! I have a pretty special guy in my life that takes care of me. I was uber duber excited! The parking lot is a bit hectic during peak hours, so we parked next door in the hair salon parking lot, amongst other East Atlanta Village patrons. Nice, short walk to the restaurant. First, there's plenty of parking seating in the restaurant. There are a few outside, shaded tables. Upon the restaurant's entrance there are high top tables to the left. To your right there are some leather sofas where you can be seated. These tables are located near some games (scrabble, jenga, etc). You can have your food/drinks delivered to you while playing board games with your friends. I love this concept. This changes the dynamics of the restaurant. Now, it becomes a mini lounge/restaurant. There are also tables by the woodfire grill where the pizza is made. More tables are escalating up the restaurant. Food: when you look at the pictures on Yelp! you see a bunch of Plancha burgers. You know what I ordered, right? ha... simply delicious! There are no substitutions or modifications to this burger since this is their signature burger. It doesn't need anything added, though. I paired the burger with their collard greens. I had never tasted collard greens with a hint of sweetness until I had them here. Outside of my family, these may have been the best greens I've ever had!!! Drinks: There is a 1 page food menu. The drinks, though? 5 or 6 pages of beers. All kinds you could imagine. The last page, I believe, are cocktails. I gave the restaurant a 4 star rating because of all the beers they offered, the only one I wanted wasn't available! *insert sad face* other than that, everything was superb! I'll be back very soon with my gang of compadres!
(4)D T.
I would never come here again. The burger can only be cooked medium? That's a ridiculous "rule". Dear god, it's my money and I'm the customer. Easy solution, though, I just won't ever come back. Horrible experience, horrible training, just bad. While the manager was helpful and apologetic and did, indeed, get the burger prepared well done, the thought remains. I should never be told "we only cook the signature burger medium". I do appreciate the help of the manager today.
(1)Jeanette C.
I don't usually go out on weekdays, but boy am i glad I did. Argosy (pronouns ar-go-zee) really knows how to make a whiskey sour kick. Also, what a cute crowd. Definitely will be back. 4 stars for the atmosphere #goodlighting #inviting

I must say, I will be returning...not only has one of my friends returned on numerous occasions for the pork chops, BUT the DECOR is why I want more lmao.. I loved the entire set up..I THINK I had something like a shaved lamb burger..it wasn't as hot as it could've been mainly because my friends ordered something that takes Waaay longer lol. The food still came out in a decent amount of time :D The vibe of the restaurant alone will have you wanting to stay, hang and maybe order a few more drinks than you expected to have 0_o lol...I would give them more starts but here's 5

Today we decided to try something new and different so our friend heard about a place called Argosy. Argosy is located near flat shoals on East Atlanta. We got there and we were seated immediately. They open at 5:00pm and close at 2:30 am. The atmosphere and the interior design inside reminded me of a Disney world theme park greatly decorated! The server brought us menus and drink list which was enormous, but nobody drinks that was with it us. The menu in my opinion was short on options, but I found something I enjoyed which was a wood fired pizza called "mutiny on the bounty". This pizza had toppings of pepperoni which was super thick and juicy, sausage, red onions, an was supposed to come with mushrooms. I asked them If I could sub the mushrooms for Jalopenos and they said no. I read on them Menu in other places that they don't sub anything on the menu. The service we received was really good and the server was attentive and we never had empty drinks! I look forward to coming back!

Hit up Argosy for brunch and I will definitely go back! We were on the patio, which is covered and open perfect for people watching without baking in the sun. They have a coffee bar that can put together some good stuff. I had Vanilla French Toast with Corned Beef and Fried egg. This dish was awesome!! The only thing I would change is they have these shredded potatoes that overwhelm the dish and block the quick route to the goodness of the rest of plate. My friend had the pulled pork and grits and it was delicious. The portions were a great size and both came with a side of fruit. The service could have been a little better in terms of attention to us after we got our meal. But the waitress was very friendly throughout and very helpful in making suggestions. I have been here late at night for drinks and it is a cool atmosphere at night as well. Great for groups as well as one on one conversations.

Went there with some friends last night!! Wow this place is slick! Huge tall ceilings. An amazing decor. It's an old antique warehouse. Great libations and yummy food. Not too huge of a vegetarian option, but I had a nice veggie plate. Probably won't order grilled okra because it was too dry. Collards, cream corn and field pea salad were tasty.

This place was amazing! We were visiting Atlanta and ended up at the East Village late one night. The whole area is great! Very hip with good energy. After some roaming around we Yelped for some pizza and this place popped up. Awesome decision! The outside design set high expectations and every moment inside delivered on those expectations. The nautical-inspired, woodsy decor makes the place feel relaxed and cool. There's a real brick oven right out on the floor, the bar is spacious and clean, and there's even a few lounge spots. The staff was so chill, friendly, and very down-to-earth. And the pizza and beer was delicious! Bonus! We saw a celebrity while there!

Absolutely love this place! Wonderful vibe, great staff, and amazing dishes, especially the coffee! Recommend trying it out on the weekends for brunch. The brunch pizza is a pure delight!

Love the decor however the stench of stale air and old bar smell was enough for us to dine out. Ordered pizza and veggie burger that left me wanting more

Ahh I love a bar with a badass beer list and delicious food to match. Fair warning: if you're a macrobrew lover and/or are not into adventurous, trendy, and/or high gravity beer, you're going to be limited. There are a couple conventional options (like PBR and Schlitz on the bottle list and Allagash White and Guinness on draft), but for the most part, the beer list here is the opposite of what you'll find at Applebee's. My only beef is that my go-to for cheaper drinking is Yuengling and they only have Yuengling Light here. Whyyyyyyy. Now for the food. I've only ever had the pizza here because it's really good and I can't get myself to try anything else yet. I've tried several of their pizzas and haven't been disappointed. The crust has that yummy chewiness of Neapolitan style wood-fired pizzas. I definitely recommend trying one - my favorite is the vascello (mmm goat cheese). The IPA beer boiled peanuts are also really good. I'm not much of a boiled peanut fan but will gladly order and share these. Service is very good. Servers are pleasant and friendly. The place is huge, so there is a host to seat you. And really, HUGE. There are like, three levels and a variety of seating including high-tops, couches, booths, tables, and (of course) the bar. Oh, and there is a covered patio, which is enclosed in cold weather for year-round people-watching (and really, people-watching is fun in EAV). Parking is available in small nearby lots or on the street. Bathrooms are clean and well-stocked. Kitchen is open until 11pm on weekdays and 12am Friday and Saturday, but they've got the pizza oven going until 2am. Mmmm drunken pizza. I think I'm in love with Argosy.

If you're looking for a great spot for beer, check this place out. Pages of local beers and the atmosphere is way cool. It really is a great place for that. But, we came for dinner. The food was fine, nothing to come back for. The oddest part is there are no substitutes so I had to skip the $17 fried chicken that I was going to get that came w collard greens. Ended up w their "signature" burger which was dry and bland.

This is a pretty cool place in East Atlanta Village. A really funky, out of the ordinary space, kind of gothic, kind of ski-lodge vibe. The wood fire (for the delicious pizzas) always gives it a great comfy look. I have heard they have a great beer selection, but I come for the food. The "plancha burger" is essentally the same product as the famed Holeman & Finch "burger time" burger, so I have enjoyed that several times. Also, raclette, shrimp & grits and the wood fired pizzas are all very satisfying.

Loved the atmosphere. And the architecture inside the restaurant was beautiful and fascinating to look at! We came on a busy day, which explained why the bartenders were all business. But they handled themselves really well from all the bicycle race enthusiasts and the Saturday night crowd. The pizza was fast and flavorful! I could hang out by the bar all night if I could.

A hipster gastropub on the eastern edge of Atlanta, this place is basically beer heaven (sidenote: I made peace with the fact that I like hipster bars a long time ago). The food and service are also top-notch. They're in the top five for largest beer selections I've seen at a bar. I could sit there and sip their brews all day long. From stouts to sours to dopplebocks, they've got it all. I love sour beers and started out with something on their draft list that was a little weak. I asked our waiter for a recommendation on a stronger sour and he promptly brought out one that was perfect. Unlike the first one I had, it wasn't on tap (can't remember the name of it) but he really hit the spot. I'll have to pore over their online menu and figure out what it was before I visit Atlanta again. For food, I ordered the pig n' grits. It consisted of roasted pork shoulder with barbecue sauce and a side of grits. It was served kind of like a barbecue dish and was a good value for the amount of food they put on the plate. I also got to sample some other dishes that my friends ordered and can unequivocally endorse the pork belly kabobs and their pizza. Just an FYI on the plancha burger: our waiter told us that it comes out medium-well. I originally tried to order it rare but they wouldn't do that. They market it as their "signature burger" so I can appreciate them not wanting to any modifications. I'm a little bit of brat about insisting on having my burgers cooked rare so I ordered something else. As others have mentioned, the atmosphere is also really pleasant. While it was crowded on the Friday night that we came, we were seated within five to ten minutes of putting our names on their list. We ended up sitting on some couches around a coffee table that they had set up in the corner. Most of the seating, however, is made up of traditional dinner tables (and maybe some booths, if I recall correctly).

I have been there twice and have had terrible experiences both times. I believe in second chances and Arosy failed both times. The food is okay but the customer service is offensively bad. Don't waste your time. I've never given a one star review in my life but this place deserves it.

Went on a Tuesday night with some friends. Great atmosphere, super laid back environment, and not overly crowded! They have an excellent beer menu that rotates on a consistent basis based on seasons, and a really unique food menu. I recommend going with either something from the sandwich section and adding on fries or simply simply getting two "snack" foods. I had the Rueben, which had BBQ on it (amazing) and a side of fries. With the fries, you get to chose your dipping sauce from a list of five and I would definitely recommend the blue cheese. Overall, a great place for dinner and a drink (or two)!

Coolest place ever ! Great patio and there's a really attentive staff , and lots of great beer on draft ...

How can vegan collard greens possibly be as good as the ones we had last night at Argosy? HOW? I'm used to collards only being that delicious if they're cooked with a ham bone or bacon, but these we tangy, savory and spicy. I'd come back just for those greens... The rest of our food was really good, too. I got the grilled salad with chicken, which was unlike any other salad I've ever had. It was very flavorful and looked like something you'd see in much more expensive restaurant. Our service was great and the atmosphere is pretty nice and chill. The only thing that underwhelmed me was my cocktail--I got The Navigator and it was just kind of boring. Other than that, though, this place is Grade A. We'll be back for sure.

The first time I came here, my experience was less than desirable. I mean, so bad my party and I left before even being served. But after the owner Armando reached out to me about my experience, I decided to give it another try. So glad I did! The food was delicious, and of course the beer was too. Our waitress, Isabella made sure to take care of us. If I'm ever back on that side of town, I'll definitely be sure to stop by again!

Hands down one of my favorite places in Atlanta. SUPER cool interior. EXCELLENT beer list, continuously changing draft lists. Every day after 11 you get a free personal cheese pizza with 2 draft beer purchases. So you and a friend can go in for 1 more to end the night plus FREE pizza. And the pizza is GOOOOOOOD!

When Argosy first opened, it was widely lauded for being one of the most beautiful bars in all the land. It was also widely panned for having iffy service. At the time, I couldn't disagree with either statement. However, as time has passed, the Argosy has gotten its sea legs under it (pun fully intended.) While it's still beautimous, the service has improved exponentially. The times I've been there, it's been attentive and pleasant. In addition, the last time I was there, there were more than a few kids present. Now, as a parent myself, I found this heartening--booster seats and whatnot. For you hipsters lamenting the presence of the babyset? Don't worry; it's still plenty loud in there, so the screaming kid is hardly noticeable. Also, I noted that they seated us all in one section, so that harried parent repeatedly saying, "No! No! Don't put that in your mouth!" won't be close enough to harsh your vibe. So let us parents have our night with a fancy cocktail or craft brew or two. Keep rolling those eyes; in about 10 or so years, you'll understand that karma is a bitch. Anyway, back to Argosy, I think they solved their initial service issues. The space is expansive. Nooks and crannies abound, loungey spaces, tabley spaces, and a long bar for you barflies to park. The cocktails are nice; not too ambitious, but a good option for the non-beer folks. The food is generally good, but a bit uneven at times. I ordered a 14 oz. cowboy ribeye which was ok (for a $19 steak), but the thinness of the cut mitigated my request of "medium rare." In other words, it's hard to cook a properly medium rare steak if it's too thin. However, I am a big fan of the Plancha burger (their take on a thin, double pattied meat stack--thin, so as to maximize carmelization, doubled so as to maximize the meat.) So here's a long overdue review of Argosy. Glad to have you guys nearby.

May 3rd, 2014 - Stop #2 on our Burger Tour. Argosy is what I like to think my restaurant would look like if I were ever lucky enough to own one. Everything about Argosy was a feast for my eyes. I dabble in interior and exterior design, so Argosy was extremely appealing to my visual sensory glands. It reflects the artsy cool quirky guy that lives on the inside of me. Instantly my entire being fell in love with this place, starting with the metal dragon sculpture in the parking lot: yelp.com/biz_photos/argo… and the cool mural on the side of the building: yelp.com/biz_photos/argo… Next you walk past a covered outdoor patio with the vibe of a street bistro in Spain or Italy, which is the complete opposite of the interior. Inside you will find a modern use of multiple materials from metal to wood to brick and stone. When I saw the mix of old fashion bulbs with new fashion lights and the AWESOME stools made out of tree stumps, my attention was captured. Seeing how they blended this with unique tables and seating along with great looking art and I was ready to move in! LOVE this place I tell you, just love it. THE FOOD I could have ordered nearly everything on the menu because it all sounded so good, but I had to focus on the task at hand... the Plancha burger. The burger was also a feast for the eyes. Probably the most beautiful burger presentation I've ever seen, and its taste did not disappoint. Of all the burgers we sampled today, I could taste the quality of beef the best in the Plancha Burger here @ Argosy. My only disappointment was the first bite was better than the last. Not sure why, but my first reaction at first bite was WOW! The final bite was just not as good. I know that doesn't make sense, but it's just what happened. Since this was Tanya's favorite place, I deferred to her as my flavor meter. Even she admitted it wasn't as good as other times she's had the burger in the past. Please do not take that to mean it was bad. It was an excellent burger, similar in taste to 5 Guys, but better executed. The fries were nice, but also not in my "favorites" category. THE VERDICT The Plancha is a great burger and beautifully presented. It wasn't my favorite of the day, but that being said, it is worthy of making your way here to give it a try.

The Argosy derives its name from large English merchant ships that used to sail the seas and what a wonderful bounty is to be found inside this magnificent vessel! The building is crafted in solid wooden planking with gorgeous bench seating in the center, leather sofas to the side, and plush booths that adorn the perimeter and second level of this standout bar. They also have a large, convertible indoor / outdoor patio that stays open for most of the year thanks to the temperate climate. The Argosy is hands down one of the best bars in Atlanta. It's expansive space allows for groups of all sizes and a regular rotation of beers and libations combined with special events means the fare never gets old. They've recently added brunch service and is on my list to try. The draft list is seasonal and features quite a few of the high gravity hitters from local to European and everywhere in between. The bottled list is even larger and features something for everyone, no matter your preference. Argosy boasts an impressive menu to pair with their beers and cocktails. We've ordered everything from starters, salads, burgers, and pizzas and none disappoint. Note that the main kitchen service is open til 11pm, but they keep firing those pizzas all night until last call at 2am. The Argosy is an Atlanta favorite and a place worth visiting over and over again. Catch me on the couches!

This marks my first review since moving to Atlanta. I was looking for a place with great outdoor seating and Benjamin G.'s review definitely sold me. I agree with him, the outdoor seating here is a top seller of this joint, but honestly, it boasts the total package. So, yes, the outdoor seating...they have this incredible fully-windowed garage door, impressive with its strong-like-bull belts and pulleys, that they keep open when the weather is nice with at least a dozen or so tables. The walls are adorned with nicely done woodwork and crafty planters. When I look around here, I am thinking somebody put a ton of money into this place...even down to the light fixtures. This place is well-known for their extensive list of craft beers. Do not come in here to get a Bud Light...if you are a bud light type of person, maybe the Allagash will suit you. Our server was well-versed in beer knowledge. I went with the White Thai from the Westbrook Brewing Co. which is a great summer witbier. The taste brought me back to the original Ephemere by Unibroue, a personal favorite...too bad it is retired. I was so torn about what to get to eat. Pizza vs burger vs tuna burger...I want them all. I decided to give their tuna burger a chance...some places don't really know how to give you a rare tune burger, but they absolutely do it right. A perfectly done rare tuna burger with pickled onions, kimchi mayo, srichacha drizzle...and man, even the fries are good. And how awesome that they already have the malt vinegar on the table! I had to get the Mac & Cheese app...yum, yum! The right cheesy blend with some crunchy panko on top...who cares if you are getting fries...you need this too! Argosy is definitely going to be on my list of frequent hangouts. See you there!

The Plancha burger is out of control delicious. By far one of the best burgers I have ever eaten. EVER. It's incredibly simple and requires no sauce or additional toppings. The collard greens are the best I've ever had. EVER. They're slightly sweet and a little spicy. Proof that no bacon grease is needed to make fantastic collard greens, folks! The beer selection is amazing and is always rotating out. I can blissfully sit in Argosy all night! A few negatives (which don't affect my five star rating, because I still love Argosy that much): It can be VERY loud, which makes it hard for talking to your group; the mac n cheese was a little bland IMO; the veggie burger was meh; the flatbread pizzas were only okay. I have had some fantastic appetizers at Argosy, but from now on I will happily stick to the Plancha burger with collard greens. It's THAT good.
(5)Scott E.
We had a great experience at Argosy last night. We stopped in for drinks and dinner before going to The Earl. The beer menu is awesome, tons if variety and plenty of hard-to-find beers. Prices are what you would expect for craft beers, $5-7. Food-wise, I only got a Philly dog as I had eaten earlier. The Philly dog was good- a housemade hot dog topped with chopped steak, grilled peppers & onions. Also came with fries too, which I wasn't expecting for $4.50. 3 others in my group got the fried chicken sandwich and said it was awesome. It looked good, and the actual chicken breast was very large. We'll be back!

Argosy - Please use salt. -Megan (I really can't think of anything else to say.)
(2)Kristin L.
It's a good place, 4 stars easily for their commitment to beer culture alone. They do beer right. Yes, sometimes they are out of things, but with this selection, that's to be expected. Service, however, is extremely spotty and somewhat dim. Our server last night didn't seem to have a clue about how to manage her time, she would come back to tell us she was out of something someone ordered, yet disappear before a replacement could be ordered. Food is hit or miss -- some items are consistently delicious, while others are just meh. The famous Plancha burger -- I just don't get it....you can get exactly the same thing, sans fancy bun, at 5 Guys. Their salad dressings are really good though. Atmosphere is spectacular.
(4)Mark A.
Great atmosphere. Hit or miss food. Excellent beer selection. Friendly service. Over-hyped Plancha burger. Easily accessible free parking. Poor Sunday brunch offering. All-in-all, a decent place to grab a beer and a bite to eat, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.
(3)Alexander H.
Best bar in east Atlanta. Huge bar in the front with a small bar in the back room. Can accommodate large parties. Great beer selection. Unique ambiance. All in all just a great place to go.
(5)Jon W.
Argosy has really settled in and I have had a chance to taste a lot of the menu. Pro-Tips: 1/2 off beers on the bottom of the list from 5-6 PM weeknights. $15 unlimited sake for Sat+Sun brunch $8 blue plate specials (they are amazing!) on Wednesdays $5 flight night plates on Mondays (also great specials) with $9.50 flights of beer (3 5oz beers) GO NOW... Especially on Monday or Wednesday.
(5)Mitch B.
Too much to say, incredible food, incredible service, incredible atmosphere. I have never waited more than 20 minutes for a table, even when it was packed totally out. When we have had any issues with our food it has been promptly corrected by the staff. Don't let the staff fool you, they look very trendy but these are NOT hipster "db"s. These are professionals at work. Again, too much to say... just visit this restaurant.
(5)Amy W.
Huge beer selection and great appetizers. Pizza is fresh and uses local ingredients. Fridays and Saturdays get super busy, so call ahead if you can. Otherwise you can wait and walk around EAV. Lots of house brews.
(4)Jason D.
I've been here a few times and the decor is just dope. Service is great too. But the food hits the spot every time! This not only a great bar with great food, but it's perfect for groups looking for a spot to hang out. I came there with my brother to celebrate his birthday. We got there and after we ordered began playing Street Fighter 2 on Xbox... Yes . Street Fighter 2 at the bar. Whaaaaaaat? Yep. Sunday's they have bottomless sake for $15 bucks. "Sake Sundays". Also there was some Magic the Gathering going on. I had the grilled tuna sandwich which was delicious. Pickled onions with spicy mayo and siracha for that kick! So good. My brother had the hangar steak with what I think were mashed sweet potatoes. Everything I need. One place. One good time.
(5)sloe j.
How does this place only have 4 stars? There's not much I like in this world more than beer and food. Argosy gets both of those super fucking incredibly correct. The beer list is incredibly well curated - loaded up with some exceptional offerings from local breweries and as well as some top spots worldwide. The food program is on-point. I was only in for brunch but I got involved in some delicious eats. I know you like cheddar grits. Go...
(5)E T.
The ambience of this place is great - dark, cool, hip. Unfortunately the food just isn't the best. The hot dogs are tiny. You should order at least 6 to be full. The meat in my Cuban sandwich was dry instead of flavorful and juicy like it should be. The pizzas are expensive but barely feed 2 people, and the crust is too salty for my taste. If you're looking for a place to drink and hang out, this is good. If you're looking for a satisfying meal, maybe try somewhere else.
(3)Sarah K.
Despite the Ormsbyish feel, I actually kinda like this place; and if you've read my Ormsby's review, you would know how much of a stretch that is for me. I've only ever sat outside, due to the hipster interior hah. I was pleasantly surprised that the server seemed genuinely delighted to be asked beer suggestions. Brought me a couple samples to help me decide. Ordered the Mermaid pizza and it was absolutely scrumptious. Probably one of the best pizzas I've had in Atlanta! While I'm rather surprised drinks aren't served in mason jars, I will definitely be back ;-P
(4)Sara B.
Let me begin by stating I have never written a bad review in my life. I have had bad experiences but nothing that has compelled me to write an actual review. If you suck, I wish you the best and hope I never cross paths with you ever again. I don't know what you are going through. I fear karma. I love the Graveyard, the Earl, Thai Sushi...love that side of town. Went to the Argosy tonight for a friend's birthday party. WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD. Just awful. And, I am the type of person who loves lengthy dinners with good wine and good people. This was painful. Waiter checked on us TWICE in two hours. Burgers for half of our group came out an hour before PIZZAS for the rest. No explanation. Zero apology for why half of the dinner came out an hour before the rest. When we asked waiter, no apologies - he just said, rather indignantly, "I have no excuses." Bartenders sucked too. Sat there for 15 minutes before anyone came. And, then, he served the two gentleman who had just walked up before me. Pretentious, hipster, crap joint Will never go back. Oh, and the pizza I waited an hour for? Soggy, disastrous mess. I tipped 15%. And felt so guilty it wasn't 20%. But, that guy sucked. Awful place.
(1)Rachel S.
Say whattt?! This place is pretty stinking cool. The building isn't self has a cool relaxed atmosphere. The beer list is impressive and the bar tenders know what they're talking about without being d-bags(no one likes a cocky bad tender). The food was decent. Not a food destination but a fun place to chill!

Way to go East Atlanta! You got all classy and grown up on me. I used to hang out at Midway Tavern on a weekly basis back in the day, but since my EAV buddy moved away I rarely make it across town to East Atlanta these days. Argosy definitely didn't exist back in my EAV regular haunting days, or I surely would have been a regular. I went on a Friday night and instantly became a fan. It's an all-around cool spot. Patio, garage doors, art, multilevel seating, hug bar area, just great atmosphere. They have a very extensive beer list, which is always intimidating to a Bud Light drinking girl like me. Our server was very helpful in pointing out beers that I would like and bringing me a sample to try it first. That was extra appreciated because the restaurant was absolutely slammed but he went out of his way to be helpful. My beer was good, although clearly not that great as I have no idea what it was after the fact. The dinner menu is as equally impressive as the drink list. It's an extensive array of really good sounding bar food. They have about a half dozen hot dogs to choose from. I resisted all temptation to go for a hot dog and ended up splitting the chicken pop appetizer and a mermaid pizza with my partner in crime. The best way I could describe the chicken pops are a cousin of chicken wings. You can't mess that up! As for the pizza, let's start with the fact that I automatically love anything with the word "mermaid" in it. The only thing better is if they had a unicorn pizza. Basically I have absolutely no idea why it is called a mermaid pizza, but I do know it was delicious. You really can't go wrong with spinach, mushrooms, pepperoni, an goat cheese. All and all, Argosy is just plain awesome. The drink and food menus are creative but not pretentious and everything I had was delightful. If it were on my side of town, I would definitely be a regular. Argosy is 100% on my list of restaurants to frequent when time and traffic are not an issue and I'm feeling like getting outside of my Buckhead bubble.
