Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Private dining. We have now had 4 private dining dinner events at Antica Posta, at the Chef's Table, and all have been a home run winning experience! Our groups have consisted of C-Level executives, private equity groups, lawyers and investment bankers, or a combination thereof. Service - 5 star. Food - 5 star. Venue - 5 star. If you're looking for an alternative to private dining, rather than run of the mill chain restaurants (Capital, Mortons, Smith & Wolensky's, etc.), this is the place! We are based out of Milwaukee, WI and wish we had Antica Posta in our neighborhood. Keep up the good work!

First impression not impressive. Worn out building. But inside friendly staff, welcoming dark room like Nonna's. Took awhile to get the wine and menus. But team of staff takes care of table. Appetizers we had- ravioli al Ragu Toscana and bruschetta. Yummy. I could lick the bowl of Ragu- why doesn't my spaghetti taste like this?? The bruschetta delicate basil and fresh tomatoes. Veal scallopini was good. Lobster farfalle was yummy and as described. But the dessert- huge let down. Can't call small shot glass with whipped cream dessert. Shameful, really. The illy cappuccino was good and reliable. That's why it's 3 stars

I was in town for my brother's graduation and based on a recommendation from a family friend we came here for the pre-grad dinner. Let's start with the place- Little outdated. Older spot with some charm. The fact that you have to valet is a little bit of a minus The food- Very spotty. The osso buco was good not great. The pastas other than the risotto were entirely mediocre. Salads were the starter and ok too. Portion size was large. My brother's filet was basically raw and he had to send it back to get it cooked. The sides were pretty bad. The asparagus was 4 pieces...Desert is en route. The service- Bad. Carlos was our waiter and I think he suffered from ADD. He would stand by the table then wander off and slam plates down. He was also the only waiter in the basement, where there were 4 private parties. He was also pretty rude to be fair. I always give the waitstaff the benefit of the doubt but if we weren't a party of 12 he'd probably only warrant 10%. All in all a night to forget. If you're in town for a visit, I'd give it a miss.

"Well, I mean who wouldn't want to buy a villa in Tuscany." -- Under the Tuscan Sun (2003) So I can't believe I haven't updated my review in 6 years - it's clearly time. Some back story - this was my father's favorite restaurant and we have been regular customers since they opened in 1999. Every significant celebration seemed to happen here - my 26th birthday was quite the dinner here with my parents and they were relatively new at that time. When I came home (living in San Francisco at the time) for my 30th birthday, we also celebrated here. Significant job promotions, parents' wedding anniversaries, etc. When my Dad passed away, my Mom and I came for dinner on his first birthday 6 months after - as we felt it was the right way to honor him. After quite the hiatus, I returned last night for their annual January truffle specials. A few friends and I showed up for a 6pm reservation and we were seated immediately. Our service started out to be exactly what I was accustomed to - attentive, consistent, and excellent. Carlos was our lead server, with Jenny (I believe was her name) as the secondary. Unfortunately, she was losing her voice, so it was hard to hear her. She was a trooper and took great care of us despite feeling under the weather. We perused the menu and were intrigued by all 5 specials - 4 of which had black or white truffles. Since there were 5 of us at the table, we decided to order them all and share. We also ordered some apps to start - and to be fair, in my half dozen (or more) past visits here, I have always ordered the carpaccio. It is my clear favorite appetizer here. What we ordered - Appetizers: Carpaccio di manzo - Beef carpaccio Prosciutto San Daniele e mozzarella di bufala - Prosciutto with buffalo mozzarella Insalata di Marco - Arugula & Romaine Lettuce with cherry tomatoes, olives, capers, green beans, cucumbers, e.v.o.o. & whole grain mustard Mains: White truffle risotto Taglionlini e tartufo - white truffle pasta Paccheri con branzino e tartufo nero - Pasta with sea bass and Burgundy black truffles Osso Bucco (veal shank) Filleto di manzo - Filet Mignon with Black Truffles Desserts: Mousse al cioccolato - Chocolate Mousse Semifreddo al torrone - Nougat Ice Cream Cake Gelato alla Mandorla - Almond gelato Pecorino Toscano If you aren't into raw meats, then skip the carpaccio and get the prosciutto, but if you are willing you just have to get the carpaccio. It is light, refreshing, with the sharp Parmesan. Antica Posta has the best version of this Italian classic I have ever eaten. I crave it. The Marco salad is also delectable - a little bit of everything - if a salad is what you are looking for. As for the mains, I am a huge fan of their Osso Bucco. Again, it is the best I have had anywhere (except when my Dad would make it). The only thing that lacked last night, was crusty bread to smear the marrow onto. The truffle specials (all but the sea bass as I cannot eat fish) were delicious - but by far the stand out was the Filet Mignon. They referred to the black truffle on top as a carpaccio of black truffle... all I know was that is was one of the best steaks I have had in ages (that I did not cook myself). The Earthy, truffley goodness married with the perfect medium-rare filet - was an amazing flavor combination. I was actually annoyed that I only got to eat one-fifth of the steak. If I wasn't full, I would have ordered an entire other steak to eat all by my lonesome. I might need to go back... Despite all we ate, we ordered dessert. Due to my tree nut allergy, I enjoyed my chocolate mousse and did not taste anything else at the table. Obviously, nothing else was safe (well the cheese was fine, but I was content with my dark chocolate). Smooth, rich, creamy - and not too much of it to make me regret eating dessert. Now for the loss of 1-star. Between clearing our dinner dishes and letting us order dessert, we were ignored for over 30 minutes and trying to get either of our servers' attentions was nearly impossible. So our dinner ended up being 3 hours instead of 2 - a disappointment considering my previous experiences and earlier in the evening. I know they had gotten busy, but waiting 30 minutes from giving us menus and checking in - not acceptable. It will not prevent me from returning, but it does keep them at 4-stars. By far, my best dining experience in Buckhead.

Came here for a friend's Birthday and was extremely disappointed. Our whole night was just bad. We had a large party that she made a reservation for. It was honestly like they didn't know how to handle a group of more than two people. We were seated downstairs at two separate tables. Our server Mercury (yes, that's his name y'all) was the icing on the cake for this hot mess. He was a diva extraordinaire who was remarkably inappropriate the few times he did actually service our table. He spent most of the evening allowing his helpers to do the dirty work. We waited 30 minutes for bread, over an hour for our salads and a total of 2 hours before we were served our main courses...most of which were lackluster. When asked about the meal upon collecting our plates, I expressed my dissatisfaction with the meal and the service to which the waitress responded "ok." $70.00 later I have a place that I've given one star to that I will never return to. The sad part is, I'm still at the table writing this review and will finish it before I pay my check. I would tip less, but as we know parties over six get automatic gratuity. Touche Mercury, Touche!

Buckhead is growing up. Much of the quaintness around the area in the 30s-40s houses turned boutique or restaurant is giving way to the big "New Buckhead". You know the project that shut down all the bars and started what was touted as "The Rodeo Drive" of Atlanta. Too bad they started that with the financial crisis, but six years of bull markets now have that project fully underway. There are seven story cranes hoisting marble and faux-gilded iron-works up. This place is going to be posh. I fear for the quaintness that makes me love this area. Right on the border of this area sits the epicenter of quaint, Antica Posta. AP is wonderful. You valet -- which has been really quick for me every time -- and then walk up to this charming house. As you come in, you're welcomed by a great room with a vaulted ceiling and a mahogany bar across the way. There are tables in here, and if you're there to people watch, then this is your room. To me the place to seat in is in back, but not downstairs. Stay on the main level. This feels like you're sitting back in time, far nicer than the old Italian places on Cheshire Bridge, and you can get a view of the kitchen. Now here's an important point, GET ON THE EMAIL DISTRIBUTION LIST!! Marco brings in truffles every so often, and when he does, he sends an e-mail. You will then be treated to wonderful specials. He's does a fillet with black truffle carpaccio on top. He's also done various kinds of risotto. The swordfish special with truffle is also excellent. Seriously, if you like truffle, then this is the hidden gem of Atlanta! Marco does not skimp on the truffle. There are few places in Atlanta that I order off the wine list, but AP's wine list is reasonably priced and uniquely selected. I sometimes order from the list, but their corkage is reasonable if you choose to bring a bottle. There are a few things that you musn't miss. Their octopus (as I said in my earlier review) is the best in Atlanta. Seriously, even my daughter who doesn't like octopus will take a few slices. My daughter who loves octopus will take down an order herself as an app. This is exceptionally soft and delicious. The gemelli is also exceptional. Covered in an absolutely delightful cheese and cream sauce with peas and pancetta. It's delicious and something you should order for the table. I would recommend coming with at least four people and then ordering as you do in Italy. Order your antipasto, then some pasta then a meat course. We've found two or three of each is great for four to five people. I don't think Antica Posta is going anywhere, but it is one of the last bastions of Buckhead quaintness and specialness standing guard to keep the area special and unique, before it's overrun with chains like Fado and the Capital Grill. Come support the home team and the history of the area!

Imagine Olive Garden serving their current menu but charging four times the price for the food- that is Antica Posta. The food certainly tastes good, do not get me wrong, but the prices are completely out of line considering that the food is not memorable and will be forgotten five minutes after leaving. Avoid.

We went here a coupe weekends back (Saturday, March 7th) for my friends birthday dinner. The server was so, so. Food was so,so as well. Not worth the amount we ended up spending for what we got. But that isn't why they are getting one star review. If I could, it would be no stars- for one reason, we had a ROACH fall into one of the glass of waters on our table. And they did an absolutely terrible job handling that. So lets start at the beginning, when I originally made the reservation on open table we had 16 people (unconfirmed) but I wanted to be sure we had a table just in case all 16 came. There was NOTHING on the website about a $100 deposit for 10 or more people; so when the restaurant called I explained that I needed an hour or so before I could call him back and let him know about our reservation. Don't worry, they cancelled my reservation 15 minutes later. I was FURIOUS! I had my friend call back, since it was her birthday and she had the number of people coming, they waived the fee for her. We got there, and like other reviews say, the valet is tiny and the building is lackluster in appearance. I drive a small SUV and felt that it was going to get scratched just pulling up to the valet. We were seated pretty quickly, so no complaints there. We were seated all the way to the bottom of the building. We received our food pretty quickly, and honestly for the price it was just OK. As we were finishing up our meal, one of the gentlemen in our party went to drink his water and low and behold there is a ROACH floating in it. Instead of causing a scene as that section of the restaurant was full, we called our waiter over (I cannot for the life of me remember his name, but he had a mohawk that was braided) and showed him the glass with the roach. They took it away and brought him a new glass of water, but at that point, none of us wanted to continue eating or drinking. Too bad none of us took a photo of it (I think due to shock), otherwise I would have posted it as well. We asked for a manager but apparently at 9pm on a Saturday night there wasn't a manager or supervisor available to speak with. Birthday girl then asked for something off our bill, the waiter came back and comped her meal and 10% off the rest of the bill and offered her a free desert! We were FURIOUS! We had a ROACH in our water, possibly in our food that we had just eaten and we are given 10% off!!! No way were we about to eat anything else. Needless to say, she argued with him but it went nowhere. His excuse was that they "were an old building." That is completely unacceptable, old building or not! So we payed our $200+ bill and went to leave. Don't worry our waiter came outside as we were waiting for our vehicles and asked us why we didn't tip him the typical 20%? Are you kidding me!?! We had a ROACH in and around our food! We will never go back there, server was terrible at handling the situation and overall just a bad, bad experience.

Marco the owner and the waiter Corey made this another great visit. Marco is always accommodating and the food is consistently good. Awesome!

An exceptional dinner celebrating our 16th wedding anniversary and recalling our pre-kid trip to Tuscany. Impeccable service, supremely delicious dinner (oooh... Truffles AND limoncello!). This is the sort of place where the waiters are life-long experts in their craft and will add so much your experience. Go! Go now!

I really enjoyed Antica Posta. For the company of good friends. We sat at the bar and chatted over wine and bread for quite a minute before eating anything of substance. The restaurant is quaint and visually pleasant. The bartender was a big scattered but she did just fine. A bit quiet, not much of a personality but I got the vibe that's pretty much all the servers here. To get started I had a puréed cantallini bean soup with tybee island shrimp and truffle oil. It was excellent. Probably the strangest and most interesting soup combination I've had recently. Bruschetta was good. Arugula salad with shaved parmesan needed a touch of something. Perhaps a vinaigrette? Boyfriend played it safe and asked for oil and balsamic once he realized it wasn't dressed. I ordered the Sea Bass, and my honey got the chicken plate. His was absolutely perfect, mix of light and dark meat-killer broth, amazing potato chunks. My sea bass was very light, unseasoned. Almost unpleasant. Delicate and a very large piece of fish.. It was almost too perfectly cooked, I prefer fish to be just slightly overdone so the inside isn't mushy or too slick on my palate. Also due to the menu being difficult to read I didn't realize it wasn't over pasta, instead over green beans. Which were good, but I was expecting something else. We ordered a side of the white truffle pasta. Huge portion, very flavorful and rich. I commented on how oily and buttery it was, tasty but so so buttery-I learned that's the coveted truffle oil. Perhaps it's simply not my thing but I do 'get' the hype. My favorite thing was probably Veal Ossobuco. Absolutely delicious, thick chunks of veal falling off the bone great texture, salty and rich, filling and bursting with complexity. I enjoyed two glasses of $9 wine I can purchase at any wine shop, I had no idea I would ever enjoy a Candoni merlot. Merlot is yuck but this particular bottle was delish. Panna Cotta is this spots claim to fame. Absolutely divine! It's like soft air that melts to a sweet cream in your mouth! Best panama cotta I've ever had in my life. We also got the toffee nougat ice cream cake. It was also very tasty, I enjoyed the crunch of the cold congealed custard. Topped off with espresso which I really could've done without. I love a good shot of hot espresso but this round of caffeine shots tasted burned. All good though, Marco was lovely. He seems to be very proud of his families business. I think I would've had a better experience if I had the menu explained to me a bit more in detail. I will return again and again to pinpoint my favorite dish. I know it's there !

Went last week with two of my best friends and wife. Got there early, had nice service at the bar and my wife says the best Cosmo she's had for a while. Seated on time (6:30 basically empty) at a nice table except that this patron or staffer kept going out to the front stoop to smoke. It kept working its way to our table. none & ex-smokers, so we're not happy...but I won't really put this on the "experience" it just was what it was. Issue was really with "the best veal chop in Atlanta!" claim. If you're going to put this on your menu, it better be...The Best!. Wasn't. Not by far. First bite was hot, watery juicy and full of salt. Bleh. Next bite...worse. So much salt in the veal that 1. they ruined it. 2. it obvious that they're buying cheap veal and brining it to make it softer. 3. They are NOT making the best veal chop in Atlanta. Not by far. 4. the amount of salt in the veal ruined the rest of the wine, my tongue and any taste for the rest of the meal. Seriously...way too much salt. Waitress comes by and I honestly didn't want to say anything because it was a date night and I didn't want any "issue" with the staff. My friend took it upon himself to let them know that I thought the veal was too salty and inedible. She was sorry, apologized and goes off to the get Mr. Wonderful...the nob with his mug on this Yelp page. The Captain of Outstanding Customer Service. So Mr. Classy walks up to the table, doesn't even bother to introduce himself, stands right at the table so he's looming over us, looks straight down at my veal with 2 bites from it and mumbles some BS about "So you no like the veal?" No, it's too salty. "Well...IF WE'D KNOWN YOU DIDN'T WANT SALT WE WOULDN'T HAVE PUT ANY ON IT". Mr. Classy then grabs the plate and goes back into the kitchen and starts screaming in Italian about it to his poor staff. Like they know what they're about to encounter from him. (BTW, later on heard this is his MO, because one of the nice staff made the comment of "you can't work in an Italian restaurant without a thick skin". Excuse me? Sorry folks, but what a feminine hygiene product. I own 12 retail stores in Atlanta, and I've never yelled at my staff even once.) We were all sitting looking at each other with a stunned look on our face of "did that just happen?" So out comes the waitress with another veal chop. One bite and it's the same result. So obviously they brine the veal. I passed a bite around and all agreed...salty and inedible. The Nob never came back either to check, just sends his staff to cover for him...so he really doesn't care. For $40 veal, top of the menu, claim of the best...this sucked. Oh yes...this cheap ass has the nards to quote green beans, broccoli flowerets and CELERY slices as "seasonal veggies". Really? Celery is now a dinner veggie? Steamed of course, no flavor. How are these seasonal? Squash, root veggies are seasonal in the winter, not veggies you can get all year. All servings reeked of cheap, cheap and cheap. Oh yea...my wife flipped at the $18 for a side serving of pasta. For a side serving! The place is neat, tidy and the wait staff is nice and attentive. Why any one would want to work for such a punk is beyond me. I loved the little house theme...too bad it's occupied by a little Nob of a man who really couldn't care less about it you have a good time or not. I guess he's got enough "regulars" who come in that he'll pitter around for and stay open...but we won't be back.

Neither a fantastic or bad experience, so I'll point out the good and bad. The good: - Delicious grilled octopus appetizer. Forget calamari, this thing was tender like chicken. Usually the phrase "it tastes like chicken" is a bad thing, but in this case, it was good. Order it. - Great for groups if you call in advance. They also don't bother you too much. In my case, this was for a birthday, and they were very accommodating by bringing out the cake we brought and stored in their fridge. They also brought out plates. -Sea bass was soft and buttery. I can't remember how the waiter blindsided me into ordering fish, but I'm glad he did. I'm pretty hesitant to order any kind of fish because it tends to get overcooked or lacks flavor. - Had a bite of osso bucco too and that was delicious. In fact, I'd pick the osso bucco over the sea bass. The bad: - Waiter was friendly and there was a slight communication problem with his English. He was also very persistent in helping us order that we didn't really know what we were ordering. As mentioned in one of my points above, I really wanted a pasta but he told me to get the fish and said there were would be pasta on the table. Um, yea, we never got any pasta unless we ordered it after our entrees were half finished. There's no telling how much that spaghetti with pomodoro sauce cost. - The worst point was that we had already covered the bill and were still hanging out there. One of the waiters offered us some limoncello and then our waiter showed up with the bill for 9 limoncellos. Kinda shady... We ended up not paying for it as they said it was "on the house" but still, not very nice of them to offer AFTER the bill was closed. Overall, they serve food well and it's a bit on the expensive side for me. The "charming" service makes me hesitant to ever want to go back.

So, my aunt picked this place for my mother's birthday, against my protests. Based on the reviews and the priciness (no prices on an online menu is a big red flag), I wondered why she wanted to pay more for worse food. But I digress. Things seemed odd from the start-the entrance to the restaurant is very plain, and the valet area for parking extremely small. The waitstaff were friendly and the roasted potatoes my mom and I tried as a snack before the rest arrived were ok. The table was uneven, and I'm not talking about it being a little wobbly: the entire outer 6-8 inches of the round table had a distinct downward tilt. Which is RIDICULOUS. Dive beach bars have flat tables, an expensive restaurant has no excuse for being unable to procure flat tables! When the rest of the group arrived and we were mulling over appetizers, our server (Mercury) asked if we would like to sample a little prosciutto and mozzarella, maybe some pecorino. He asked me if it would be alright if they brought out a plate for the table to share. Thinking about cost at this point, I figured, 'Well, it isn't uncommon for nice restaurants to give large groups tastings to entice them to buy more. If they charge us, it will just be for an antipasto platter.' Instead, each of the 6 people at the table received their own plate with 1 ravioli, 3 half-slices of tomato with 2 quarter-size balls of mozzarella and arugula (um, why not basil?) and 3 slices of prosciutto. When it came time for entrees, despite the menu and our server's fervent exclamations of various entrees being "THE BEST ribeye/veal/roast chicken etc.", most of us were underwhelmed by our entrees. I ordered the roast chicken (a barometer I often use for general quality-how well a restaurant prepares a simple dish is very telling). The portion was large, but all of it was dry. It was the worst roast chicken I've had in a while. And I've had roasted chicken in Italy, this isn't some kind of cooking method thing-this was pure incompetence. I've made better roast chicken in terrible ovens, I've even tasted better roast chicken from the grocery rotisserie! The kicked was when it came time for the bill: the appetizer course, which was presented in a way that we DID NOT request? $16 per plate. This added $96 to about a $300 bill, and honestly made everyone at the table furious. It was a bait and switch, pure and simple- much like other reviewers have described. We realized why our waiter had been so happy: that little stunt added quite a bit onto the auto-gratuity! $16 a plate was as if we had each ordered a full appetizer for ourselves, instead the antipasto for sharing Mercury described. The furor caused by this stunt (as well as the more budget-conscious family members panic about the huge extra unasked-for cost), completely ruined my mother's birthday. So please, please, take my advice: DON'T go here- you'll probably be charged for more than you order, the location is terrible, and the food ranges from ok to pretty crappy. Go to Ecco, which has a better location, more ambiance, and WAY better food for cheaper prices. Don't ruin a special occasion by taking them to Antica Posta.

I really enjoyed my visit to this great restaurant! I love Italian food and it really lived up to my expectations. My husband and I had the arugula salad, a spicy shrimp pasta, and a pasta with crab. The flavors were amazing. We also got the almond gelato. The service was great as well. Everyone went above and beyond. We definitely be back.

Me and my associates will never come back to this place, the only reason that I gave it 2 stars is because of the food was good, But I went there last night for dinner and we were sat upstairs which was nice. My main issue is we were over charged! The server Mercury never poured out the whole bottles of wine we ordered and in addition there was a bottle that was on the tab that we never even got. The only reason I looked for this is cause I've heard that the servers here have a habit of charging for bottles that weren't served. I don't know if this is how they are told to do by management or if that it was mercury but either way it's a lack of respect to their wouldn't recommend to anyone

Went for Valentine Day. The octopus and sea bass were excellent. However the pasta dishes were nothing special.

I gave this place another shot for dinner, and I'm so glad I did! We went on a Thursday night and it was a quiet night for the restaurant. We decided to sit at the bar for dinner. The bartender was very friendly and had a great personality! Now, onto the meal! We had great wine! If you love wine as much as I do, you will love the wine list! I started with Marco's favorite salad and I LOVED it! I really wasn't in the mood for anything at all after being full from the salad, but I still went with the oven roasted chicken. It was phenomenal! It had great flavor and no dryness at all! My date went with the Lamb chop and raved about it! Although we were completely stuffed from our delicious dinner, we HAD to have dessert! We decided on the ice cream cake and it was fantastic! My recent experience more than made up for my first time at Antica Posta! The food is stellar and I cannot wait to go back!

There IS great pasta in Atlanta! I highly recommend the Diavlo Shrimp. It arrived, fresh and hot ( temperature ) the way I love my pasta. Attention to detail is a priority here. Great attentive welcoming staff. The owner, handsome and gracious. Eating alone was comfortable and satisfying. I will be back- with friends!

Best Italian pasta place in Atlanta. Hands down. The ambiance was fantastic, the staff friendly and the price fair. If you have not tried Antica Posta, add it to your list.

So here's my story. It's valentines evening and my husband and I go out for a beautiful evening to complete our great day. We have 8:30 dinner reservations and are seated right away. Everything is working ok. Our waiter takes our order , we have some wine before dinner, we are served our prix fix appetizer course and then...... Forgotten! People seated around us that came in right before us are eating dinner , then desserts and we have NOTHING! The straw that broke the camels back for me was that people that had 9-9:15 reservations were eating their appetizers and still we had no entree. DONE came when one of those same couples were served their entree at 9:45 when they were seated after 9 pm. We still had no entree. Our waiter was beside himself with anger and embarrassment. We called DONE and asked for the check and wouldn't you know within 5 minutes out came the meal. TOO LATE! I'm no longer hungry and am now ticked , which is not how I wanted to spend my Valentines evening dinner. Look, I understand backups in the kitchen, human error and all that stuff- but when you screw up someone's evening- you should make it right. Antica Posta did not make it right. This was a pre fixe meal at $75 per person. All my husband and I had was some wine and first course(salad & grilled Octopus)-that is all we got the priveledge of eating , courtesy of their kitchen. After people seated 40 minutes after me were eating dinner and we quit - They "GRACIOUSLY " took $30 per person of the bill for the inconvenience of not eating and then we were charged the wine we drank. Wait what? All we had was an appetizer and a couple of glasses of wine- that appetizer became $45 per person basically . Yeah, I don't think so. We left after unsatisfactory service before eating our entree, never given dessert or the cheese course. We paid it because the waiter tried so hard and my husband did not want to make a scene on Valentine's , but he shouldn't have paid that bill. No manager, owner, or anyone with authority in this place came to apologize - leaving the poor waiter to carry this burden all by himself. He was awesome and we tipped him on the full value of what the meal should have been. Thank you Antica Posta for ruining my Valentines evening and then adding insult to injury by not making it right by at the very least comping the entire food portion of our meal. Congratulations you won the battle but lost the war. I live down the street but will never be back. You should have made it right by us and you thought you were better than that. Shame on you! There are many other great Italian restaurants that treat their patrons with respect and realize that when they are wrong, they need to make it right. These people obviously don't care.

I always enjoy coming here for dinner or drinks after work. There are so many things I love about Antica Posta. The wine menu is awesome. There are many different options by the glass or bottle at great price points. The food is always so fresh and authentic. I feel like I am stepping into Tuscany with every bite I take. Also never seem to have a bad experiences when it comes to service... they always go above and beyond to make it a memorable experience. Counting the days till I go back again for dinner!

VERY surprised by the mixed reviews on this fine establishment, given that I have heard nothing but excellent reviews from several friends, most recently just today by someone who told me it was the best Italian cuisine in town. I had dinner with my GF here last night, July 18 2013. The experience could not have been any better. From convenient and easy valet parking (sorry, I only had $3 to tip valet after dinner. This pains me as I usually tip $5 to honor my own valet parking experience during college), to being greeted by Marco (the owner of Atica Posta) himself, to being seated and settling in with a nice bottle of Prosecco. From here we sample two appetizers (Fois Gras and Carpaccio de Manzo) and an Arugula salad, all three well-prepared and delicious. As our entrees we chose the ossobuco and the veal scaloppine piccata. While the first was a HUGE serving, the latter was more modest, but more than adequate. Both were superbly prepared. I could have handled a tad more zest on the piccata, but the dish made up for it with exceedingly tender veal and could have easily held its own in San Gimignano or Siena. The restaurant was a bit slower than I would have expected on a Thursday at 8 PM, but this made for a very relaxing and quiet dining room. The crowd was mixed, ranging from a 4-top double-date to a couple with their daughter to some business folks, all decidedly middle-class and very Buckhead. The service was exceptional, with EVERYONE from hostess to waitress and even the kitchen staff in top form. Orchestration was perfect and - despite us lingering over our wine and appetizers - never rushed. The tab was reasonable, not cheap mind you, but one never minds paying for quality, which is the definition of value. The ambiance, food quality, exceptional preparation and great service all combined to make this a memorable experience and assuring that we would be back. Sooner, rather than later too. Highly recommend!

Used to like this place. But this time we had a terrible table - back corner of the basement - very claustrophobic. Asked to change and were told that all other tables were reserved - were here for two hours and half the tables remained available. Food and service were mediocre at best - so many better Italian choices in Buckhead. This place has lost its way - do not recommend. I will never come back here.

DOWNGRADED from 5 stars to 1 star. This is as a result of the last two experiences at the restaurant. One was a wine tasting and the other was a wine dinner. Read on for details..... After having such a positive experience in Sept., I returned in December for a wine tasting evening. While the salesman from the wine distributor did a very good job of talking about the wine, where were the hors d'oeuvres to accompany each of the wines????? This was promoted as a small, intimate seating of only 16, yet the event ultimately accommodated close to 50 people. Not intimate at all. Also, never in the course of the wine tasting was any food presented, though we were presented 4 wines. There were only bread sticks. Very thoughtless and unprofessional, in my opinion, and not at all as represented or advertised. When I asked about this at the end, I was told they would provide me with a free dessert on my next visit to the restaurant. Is this bait & switch? Obviously, attempting to create another opportunity for me to return to the restaurant and spend more $ and get $7 free dessert......no thanks!!!! I think the proper thing to do would have been to issue a partial credit for the evening. HOWEVER, this next negative experience really tops it all. I made reservations for a table of 7 for a wine dinner, that was being prepared by a Michelin starred chef from Italy, visiting in January. This was an event, priced at $99pp, + tax/tip, for a four course dinner, with accompanying wines. We arrived in the dining room, and there were three large tv's on, while we are having our drinks, and while we were seated for dinner. Three times people from my table asked for the tv's to be turned off, as they were large and right in front of our table, and the owner was indignant, and rude, stating that we had already asked him, and he was busy, but would tend to it. Despite three requests, he finally had a staff person turn the tv's off, after 20 minutes. Again, it was presented that the chef, and the owner would comment on the food being prepared, interact with the guests, and there would be a little discussion about the wines being served. THERE WAS NO CONTACT from the chef or owner during the entire meal, except at the end when the chef came out to find out how the food was. One would expect from a visiting Michelin star chef, and from a dinner costing $100+, that the plates would be changed during the meal.....no, sorry to disappoint. The plates were not changed, and we suffered through mixing sauces and flavors from our first dish through our last. Some of the meal was served family style, and the portions available were totally inadequate, even for the women at the table. We repeatedly had to ask for more food to be brought out to our table. Is this service, quality, professionalism? Not in my opinion. The rudeness my guests experienced and the demeanor of the owner is not to be tolerated, nor rewarded with any more business. Bottom line: My wife and I will NOT return.

2 stars = 'meh, I've experienced better.' ..... and for a lot cheaper. I hate writing poor reviews, but I was so surprised that this restaurant could be located in such a great area and serve such mediocre food I had to do a review. I visited Anitca Posta w/ my family on C'mas Eve 2011. The service was outstanding, it was above & beyond. But the food was just unimpressive. My friend and I split the a starter of the fagoli, which just tasted like great northern beans. Then we shared app portions of the ravioli -- both vegetarian. See the 2 pix I uploaded - there were only 2 raviolis per app serving for $13! You could have gotten 4 for $26! They were very thin, flat raviolis so you could easily eat 2 in 3-4 bites. The roasted chicken seemed a little overcooked and the spinach didn't have much flavor. I would suggest Sugo in Roswell or hell, even Figo locations around Atl for better Italian for a much better price.
(2)M M.
Expensive fake Italian food. I ordered sea bass, and I got what looked like a brick of fish with no flavor whatsoever. Italian sea bass should be thin and delicious! The salad was soggy and did not taste fresh at all. For one, it must have been sitting in their fridge longer than desirable. Plus, for all their claims to "Italian-ness" they are not aware that Italian salad is not supposed to be drenched in dressing. In fact, you should put the olive oil and the vinegar bottle on the table and let people dress their own salad. Last but not least, a restaurant this expensive should not serve frozen industrial bread rolls--how about freshly baked bread instead? For what they charge, I am sure it would not break the bank. If you like this kind of "Italian" food, you are better served dining at the Olive Garden instead. It's just as bad, but at least you save a bundle.

The tuna that I ordered was prepared well but I had a funny feeling in my stomach afterwards. I wouldn't blame it on the restaurant nor do I think it was the tuna. I'd go and try it again, but the waiter was very awkward and made the experience pretty bad. I mis heard his description of one of the dishes and his reply was very nasty and was like "no! i didn't say that..." and completely rolled his eyes. I wish I had wrote his name down. Perhaps he was having a bad day, but it's still not a way to treat a customer. He was completely rude and stuck up. Usually I don't let my reviews reflect the service, but this was a pretty bad one and the food was outstanding or anything to make me want to recommend this place. I read a lot of good reviews and was pretty excited to try it out but I'm not sure I can make the same recommendation.

Yesterday was really a perfect day off. First, a long walk with one dear girlfriend, then lunch out with another favorite friend. My evening was complete with a date with a new guy that entailed a fun event in Buckhead (Taste of Buckhead, put on by the Buckhead Business Association - y'all need to check it out next year as bunches of local restos participate and tickets are just $10) and dinner after at Antica Posta. It'd been several years since I'd been to this longtime local favorite and it was really a treat. Charming and quaint, Marco and his family run a lovely place with delicious food. We split a nice bottle of Pinot Noir (the Etude) and enjoyed a couple of starters plus a really delicious steak. The arugula salad was perfect - give me a plate of perfectly fresh arugula with parmesan, olive oil and lemon, a little pepper and maybe one or two tomatoes and I'm happy as a clam - and my date really enjoyed the gemelli with peas, prosciutto and cream. Our ribeye was an absolutely perfect medium rare. I so enjoy a great steak and it's been several dining-out experiences since I've had one this good. Definitely worth going back. A couple of limoncellos topped off the meal, and the whole evening was replete with lively conversation, nice service, a visit from the chef and that perfect satisfaction that comes from a good meal, had in a pleasant environment. Yum.

Worst experience EVER. we walked in and were barely greeted by the owner. he is so rude. You wouldn't believe he has been there for 15 years despite his demeanor. It took 30 min for a waiter to come over and get a drink order. That took forever. Dinner took 1.5 hours to get. We will NEVER return and everyone around us was having the same experience. I can't believe people go there. The food was salty and sooo expensive. Never GO THERE.
(2)Chris S.
If I could give this zero stars I would - just due to the attitude of the owner. I can not believe we paid about $100 per person and were treated so terrible! We arrived early to specifically have a pre-dinner cocktail, and were told they would be busy soon so we should sit down. We sat before our actual reservation time and did not see a server for 1/2 hour. We had to call someone over to ask questions and order another drink. We proceeded to have 3 servers throughout the meal. Not one person asked how the meals were (and my tuna was terrible) even when they cleared the table and mine was barely touched. After complaining to the owner apparently his name is Marco - he blamed it on us because we did not sit immediately. I would stay away from here - not going back!

I too am baffled by the mixed reviews and obviously, by the negative reviews. I have noticed however, that the majority of the negative reviews seem to be based on bad service. Fortunately, that has never happened to me in my wonderful visits to this restaurant. But perhaps going there with a VIP is the difference in service? All I can speak about is my own experience and they have been wonderful.... the service is top notch, the food (especially the truffle pasta) is exquisite and the ambiance is always friendly and happy. My only issue is with the small space for the number of tables. But that's easily overlooked... I can't speak for other people's visits. But I can tell you that I woud eagerly recommend the amazing food of this restaurant to anyone who asks

Heard great things about this restaurant so decided to try it. Our server was rude and unfriendly. We asked him for his menu recommendations before ordering and the food was still terrible! The mushroom risotto was all butter and made your stomach hurt. The other two dishes we had were fishy and we all had upset stomachs afterwards. Not impressed and would never come back.
(1)Michael B.
Simply not good. Nothing was good. The service was snooty. No real feel to the restaurant. The food was not even average but hardly edible. We had 3 separate entrees and none of us enjoyed our meal, not even remotely. Seriously not worth coming here.
(1)Bill B.
I began my latest dining experience with the San Daniele Prosciutto and fresh buffalo mozzarella, it was delicious. The thinly sliced prosciutto was perfect with the creamy mozzarella. The entrée was the Antica Posta's famous Osso Buco - veal shank. The meat just fell off the bone. The small portion of oven roasted sage & rosemary potatoes were lovely and just enough carbs so as not to fill up and allowed me to enjoy the entire Osso Buco. Skipping dessert; opted for a wonderful hot cup of cappuccino. My wife and I have been dining at Antica Posta the last 18 0r 19 years. We have never had a bad meal. Bill & Peg

2.5 stars. Good food. Not over the top. Service was adequate, but could use fine tuning. Could be on the expensive side for what you get. Pushing the wine for sure. No NA beer available, so keep it in mind for your designated driver. I've had better. Willing to return but won't sprint back.
(3)Dani L.
A. I couldn't understand a word my server said B. Their website says they open daily at 4pm so when I strolled in at 4:15 for an early dinner I received death stares and was told to wait at the bar (without the offer of a beverage might I add) until 4:30 - not okay C. The food is overpriced. Everything was bland except for the seafood risotto. This was delicious. D. Parking is a hassle. In conclusion save yourself the disappointment and spend your hard earned dollars elsewhere.
(2)Mike K.
The service was sub-par and the food ranged from average to quite good. Unfortunately, the majority of the food could not surmount the rude service and the price. The osso bocu was not cooked very well and was far too stringy. Go to Sotto Sotto instead.
(2)Serena B.
I won't even comment on the food. They were average. I could find better. The worst part of our experience was the attitude of the owner Marco. Who was rude and haughty and acted like he couldn't cared less whether we were there or not when we asked him questions about our dishes. Don't come here. This place is a waste of money. You'd get better service at Olive Garden.
(1)Jeffrey O.
Considering the price I have definitely had better. Probably will not go back. The octopus app was great but our dinners were just average. Ordered seafood risotto which somehow appeared in a very short 4 or 5 minutes. Good flavor but texture was not creamy risotto but more wet rice - IMHO. Service was good but not great. Atmosphere is good and not too noisy.

Went here with a couple of friends. The setting is cozy and great for relaxation. They will start you up with wine. The list of good Italian wines is impressive, especially tuscan wines. For starters we had foie graies, mixed salad and egg plants. All of them were really good and prepared to order. For the main meal two of us had veal chops with spinach and the third person had their cut up rib eye. The veal chops are very tasty and when prepared medium they are still juicy. Really great food. For desert we had penna cotta, and ice cream cake. Again great dishes. Overall a wonderful and tasty set of dishes. Our waiters were very attentive. However they did not understand Italian which is a bit surprising given that the menu card has a lot of Italian on it. So our Italian friend had to repeat his order in English. Otherwise a great experience. We will certainly return for a second chance to explore their menu card.

I've been hearing about Antica Posta for years, and I was glad that my sister's birthday came along (and she was in town) so we could celebrate appropriately here. I was at first a bit perplexed when our party of 6 was seated in the bar area, as TVs in my dining zone are one of my biggest pet peeves. The hostess assured a member of our party that it was quieter here and this was in fact VIP seating, but I'm not convinced. My guess is that the main dining room is far more charming than where we were, but no worries, I had my back facing the TV and did my best to ignore those standing around us. Our server was quite friendly and the drinks were quite strong: off to a good start. I ordered the beef carpaccio to start which was great: very flavorful and light, exactly what I'd expect from the dish. For my entree I decided upon the roasted chicken and while it was very good, it was not all I was hoping it would be. I've had some roasted chicken in my day (namely at Zumi's in SF) that has completely blown me away, and this wasn't it. Still, it was good and a hearty portion. If/when I return to Antica Posta I'll definitely go with a pasta to see how that fares. Since we had a birthday girl, they brought out a complimentary panna cotta that was absolutely delicious. The if/when is exactly the point. I'm tempted to give this place three stars just because I wasn't crazy impressed, but in this case I think the fault may lie with my ordering. I love the atmosphere and hope to return some time when I can sit in the main dining room and soak that up, along with some more traditional Italian eats.

Came here for lunch today. The service at first was pretty miserable, but it picked up shortly thereafter, so I'm willing to let it go. We had the house made veal sausages and cannellini beans and caprese salad to start, which were both very good. I had the daily special soup which was cannellini bean and shrimp. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. I had their signature roasted chicken for my main course. They claim it is the best roasted chicken you've ever had - they were right. Perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked, incredibly flavorful and moist. The potatoes that came with it were superb as well. We finished with the Capri chocolate cake and panna cotta. Both were very good. The sauce on the panna cotta was some kind of strawberry sauce that I didn't care for, but that was just me. All in all a good experience. Service got off to a rocky start but saved itself later. The food was very, very, good though. Pricey, but I would say it was worth it. I would come again.

Appetizer: Octopus, one of the day's specials...perfectly grilled and served over a lightly-dressed salad of arugula, tomato and thinly sliced red peppers. Yum, great starter. Main course: Bow tie pasta with crab meat...liked it, but did not love this dish (maybe should have had it with lobster instead). A little bland. Though the crab meat was fresh and flaky perfection. My friend had a seafood risotto...WOW, now that was delicious! Very flavorful, generous portions of shrimp, etc. Dessert: Semifreddo...it was good, wanted something sweet to end the meal, but I've had better. Our server, Carlos, was great...and the staff in general was very welcoming.

I've tried to like this restaurant, but the haughty and rude attitude is has worn me down. The food is okay (not excellent) and certainly does not overcome the rude attitude. Two examples: 1) Took my extended family there for Christmas Eve (2012). Had waited too long to make a reservation, but was able to get one at Antica Pasta (that should have told me something in itself). We were seated downstairs in a basement dining room--dingy alcove and could smell the bathroom. When we asked to move, simply got a shrug and refusal. No apology. No "unfortunately we are not able..". Just walked away. $600 tab. 2) stopped in last night and requested a table in the bar. In fairness we did not have a reservation. The owner or manger simply shrugged and said he could've do it. Many empty tables, but said needed them for later. I can almost accept that, but the attitude was so uncaring--no eye contact, a shrug. If I didn't know better, would think he was acting out a French stereotype and a camera crew was nearby to record how I reacted Just two examples. I do enjoy the bar area so I guess that's why I periodically subject myself to the humiliation of being a customer.

I was so impressed by Antica Posta. It is wonderful, high quality, fresh food. We did the Chef's Table Friday night, which is a really fun experience. They pair excellent wines with great food, it's a set price & they free pour. It's a very good deal for what get and, as I said, is a wonderful experience. Very highly recommended!

I have no problem dropping some coin for a great dinner. But if you're going to put a dent in my wallet, you need to bring the experience and food to back it up. Don't get me wrong - My risotto with black truffle was absolutely fantastic, otherwise this would have been a 2-star review. But I was very disappointed with our salami and cheese plate - $15 for 2 small slices of salami and 2 chunks of parm? Maybe they were off their game on New Year's Day, but I was generally disappointed with Antica Posta.

Being a fan of Italian food, I was excited to dine here. Upon entering, we were graciously greeted by the owner. As we were waiting for another couple to arrive, we opted to have a glass of wine at the bar and I enjoyed a glass of the Pomino - Pinot Noir - Tuscany. Not being too knowledgeable about wines, I was very pleased with my choice. I ordered the eggplant parmigiana for my appetizer. It was served in a small crock and the thinly sliced eggplant baked with tomato sauce was mmm mmm good! For my entree, I chose the bow tie pasta with jumbo lump crab meat, extra virgin olive oil and white wine sauce. I ordered this dish in the appetizer portion and am glad I did. It was excellent - the lump crab meat was fresh and rich and tossed in the evoo and white wine sauce made for a scrumptious meal. If I had ordered the main course portion, I would have over eaten because it was that good. So, I commend Antica Posta for allowing me to control my portion size as when it comes to excellent food - self control doesn't always work for me. For dessert, we shared the Capri Island Chocolate Cake - basically a brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was good. Our friends ordered "Grandma's Cake" which we were told is the owner's grandmother's recipe. I really liked that dessert - it was a heavy pastry crust with lemon filling, but the lemon flavor was very subtle. Oh, and for all you bread lovers, they give you a generous basket of bread with a mix of mini Italian loaves, grissini and wheat dinner rolls. Overall, the service was good. Only snafu was that our server put beverages from another table on our bill. As the Italians say, mangiare! And this is the place to do it. The menu is extensive and so many dishes appealed to me, I look forward to going back. Ciao!

Bad bread bad pasta. Salad and wine ok. Maitre 'd too busy texting to inuire about our evening. Never again.

2.5 stars. Such high hopes I had for Antica Posta .... I love Italian food and have been to Italy several times, so I was hoping for the real deal, but left feeling disappointed. Our waiter was very clearly on a mission to sell the most expensive wine in the house. Every recommendation was an upsell, and while I realize he's there to make money, we are there to have a good dining experience versus feeling like I was on a used car lot. Caesar salad was average. Tomato mozzarella was average. Entrees were average. Bummer.
(2)Margo C.
Fabulous as always. And the octopus salad was incredible as was the service from Carlos!

Came here for a work group dinner while in management training. This was one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at. From the moment our group of 10 walked in, we were seated right away in the upstairs part of restaurant where there were no other customers. It was nice and private. Walking up the steps made it feel very intimate like we were walking up someone's upstairs house. The stairs were carpeted in red. Once we sat down we had about two servers tending to our needs at all times. Both were dressed very well in formal black and white with towels draped over their arms. I immediately noticed the 7 bottles of wine placed at a table not too far from us--- are those for us? And sure enough they were! Now, if this was a Yelp event I may have drank two of those bottles all by myself but this was a work dinner so I had to share, begrudgingly, so as to appear as professional as possible. Darn work dinners! The food... I must talk about the food. We had several appetizers. We had meatballs covered in marinara sauce, delicious bruschetta, as well as spinach ravioli, caprese salad and warm bread. We ate those up almost as fast as we drank the wine. After the shared appetizers, we got to order our own three course meal. I chose the cantaloupe and sliced prosciutto as my (now 2nd) appetizer, my entree was free range chicken with roasted potatoes and dessert was a simple fruit salad with pinapple and strawberry slices (I really wanted the chocolate mousse, but I'm on a diet, grrrr). I was concerned about the cantaloupe and prosciutto but it turned out the be quite tasty. The saltiness of the ham complimented the sweetness of the cantaloupe. I think everyone should try it. And the free range chicken was amazing but buyer beware they give you almost the whole darn chicken. I ate dinner at 9 and I was still full when I woke up the next morning! They don't skimp on the food here. In the end, my experience was great. The servers were very attentive and provided great service, they always kept my glass full of wine and were always smiling.

Absolutely charming! Welcome to the cute little yellow house on East Paces. Please let the valet park your car, but be forewarned, the narrow driveway doesn't allow for two cars, so be sure no one's making their exit when you pull in. Step foot inside the restaurant and receive greetings from the lovely hostess. Yes, they have your reservation on file and your quaint table for two waiting. Prepare yourself for an evening of delicious Tuscan cooking -- freshly made pastas and breads, exquisite olive oil, wines and fine meats. Perhaps you should begin with some wine and appetizers. Maybe the arugula salad with fresh Parmigiano Reggiano ... or the house made veal sausage in a light tomato sauce. Go ahead, order both, but remember to consult the daily specials menu for additional offerings. It's here that you'll discover items like homemade parpardelle with a wild boar ragu. Your server then delivers your beautifully plated entrees. Oven baked sea bass for the lady, and the veal piccata for you, sir. Buon appetito! Wasn't that delicious? No rich, enjoyable dinner is complete without dessert. Ask your server for a Bailey's and coffee (illy coffee no less ... only the best for you) and peruse the enticing menu. Oh, you've decided on the Gelato alla mandorla? Yes, lovely selection. I, too, adore this almond gelato. I trust you'll smile following your first taste, as well. And you can eat both slices of fresh strawberry since your dining companion ordered the luscious tiramisu with its own strawberry garnish. Don't forget your manners ... offer each other a bite or two. We're all friends here. As you leave you'll want to thank your server for the food, good service and the experience. After all, they've made you smile over dinner, and that's worth some gratitude. And please note, they're now open for lunch on Saturdays and Sundays.

Being a big fan of Tuscan cuisine it's not surprise that I would enjoy Antica Posta, but I really love the setting, just a small cottage in Buckhead, very unassuming, very cozy. The homemade pasta, exquisite wine selection and friendly staff makes it perfect for a romantic evening with my husband, a client meeting or a dinner with friends. Everytime I go it makes me want one thing...to be whisked away to Tuscany!

Overpriced, small portions, bland food, mediocre service.

"Evenings at Emory Dinner Group" -- Episode I: Antica Posta Disclaimer: So my friend and I decided we needed to sign up for a "class" through Emory's continuing education program. It turns out that the class is all about eating -- right up my alley! It's basically an opportunity to meet new people and try a different Atlanta restaurant once a week for a month. Tonight was our first dinner and my first visit to Antica Posta. The service was very good. We had a team of two or three servers working our table of a dozen or more and each was friendly and efficient. The wine list was extensive but pricey with page after page of bottle-only choices and several by-the-glass options, ranging from $8 to $15 a glass. Unfortunately the food wasn't knock your socks off fantastic. We had limited selections based on the budget of what we paid for the "class" and I'm afraid the offerings weren't as compelling as perhaps other items on their normal, expanded menu. (One of the servers even told us we need to come back to try their regular menu, promising we'd be happier.) We had a selection of two appetizers, four pasta dishes, and two desserts from which we could choose one for each course. Best part of dining with a friend is that you can sample each others food so I got to taste both apps, two of the pastas, and both desserts! Buschetta with tomatoes and basil -- nice. Insalata mista -- good, but a tad on the acidic side, too much lemon juice. Gnocchi with tomato sauce -- boring. The sauce was lacking flavor. Lasagna bolognese -- served in a little ramekin, piping hot. Not bad. Panna cotta with a wild berry reduction sauce -- delicious! Chocolate mousse -- super rich, but couldn't stop going back for another spoonful. Judging by how clean my plates were, I think I got an "A" tonight for my first endeavor back in "school" after all these years. And there's no homework (except for that ice cream in my freezer).

I had not eaten at Antica Posta in at least 7 years and was excited to try it again with my family for my 37th birthday dinner. It was a Friday night at 7:45 and the restaurant was empty except for three other tables and a few tables upstairs- it was a ghost town . I had my 70 year old father, 64 year old mother (who have tons of energy and were enjoying a night out with their martini), my 29 year old sister in law, 40 year old brother and 38 year old husband's are all natives of Atlanta and looking forward to great Italian food, which we got. However, I cannot begin to describe the waiters and the environment in a positive way. First, our waiter hovered and I mean HOVERED! We were chatting and enjoying discussing the menu and he just kept circling and circling. There were two waiters who were bored and watching us from the back of the restaurant with a laugh here and there pointing at us- creepy ? There were no less than 6 waiters out in the hall hanging out, chatting loudly and laughing and imitating the patrons who walked by to use the restroom- it was appalling! They had nothing to do because the restaurant was empty and instead of being helpful and appropriate, they just kept loitering around our table (we finished and left by 10 p.m.- way before the restaurant closed) and asking us "Are you finished? May I clear the plate?" They were rude, inconsiderate and quite frankly very bad waiters who mispronounced most everything on the menu, sad. I was willing to give it a try, but I and the rest of my party will never go back, nor will we let our friends and others either. What a massive disappointment . Do not waste your money..there are plenty lovely Italian restaurants to choose from. Sadly disappointed, Klish

First time there, it seemed cozy but not warm enough for the winter brushing cold outside. The heater was not on, for sure. The wine was good, so was the appetizer. I had the salmon and the scallops, both were so small I could probably eat 4 more. The servers were very attentive and courteous. The restaurant just had that "little Italy feeling" inside. This place was recognized as one of the best in Atlanta, I prefer others. My pasta was too salty. This is not one of my favorites, but I did enjoy my dinner and the place itself. Perfect for couples, I was surrounded by them.

I recently attended a wine dinner (Antinori) at Antica Posta. Very cute place and the entire staff was so friendly. It was pricey ($125 PP) but it was 3 full courses and the wine flowed for 3 plus hrs, so I think I got my monies worth. The home made salami was incredible, as was the seafood risotto. I had the lamb chop for my entree and while it was good, it was not the best I have had. I would come here again, as I think it was a romantic restaurant and so far, the best Italian I have had in ATL. They also have a very nice wine list.

Antica Posta is a wonderful Tuscan restaurant. We arrived a few minutes early and went to the bar for a glass of wine. The bar area is very nice. It is large and airy. A place where you feel comfortable sipping on a drink and relaxing. In addition to the bar there are dining tables in this area. The atmosphere would seem more casual than in the main dining room. The main dining room was very elegant. My only complain on it was it was louder than I would have liked and the tables were just a bit too close together. We had a wonderful bottle of wine. I like wine but am not knowledgeable on Italian wines. The wine list is extensive (and does have American wines) and ranges from $30 to many hundreds. We went with the wine I had ordered by the glass at the bar; a Super Tuscan 2005 IL Borro for a reasonable $59 a bottle. This was a very enjoyable wine. For appetizers, Alayne had the Eggplant Parmigiana and I had the fresh Italian buffalo milk mozzarella, tomatoes, arugula salad. I tried the eggplant and it was very good. Mine was outstanding. The mozzarella was very flavorful and the tomatoes were perfect. For our entrees I had the seafood risotto. I was a little disappointed. It was good but not great. Hardly any shrimp and just not as flavorful as I expected. Next time I am going to try the Rack of Lamb (that was my second choice). Alayne had the bow tie pasta with lump crab meat. She seemed to really enjoy it. I also had a few bites of the grilled swordfish and that was terrific. Of the three entrees I tasted it was the best. The seasoning was perfect. One other thing I should mention on the entrees. Most are available is appetizer portion size. Such a wonderful idea, especially if you are not a person who eats large meals. Save some money and not waste any food or have to take the rest home. And I know you are thinking, Did you have dessert? Well of course. We split the Capri Island chocolate cake. A rich brownie like cake with ice cream. Very good. Glad we shared it. Service was a little slow but not where it influenced my enjoyment of dining there. There was a slight error on the bill and they corrected it quickly. Some reviewers have commented on the prices but I disagree when compared to other nice places (This isn't Olive Garden thank god!). Most entrees are between $20 - $30 (under $20 for appetizer portion). Add appetizers, dessert and wine and the bill adds up but no more than others. This isn't a place I will come to all the time, but when I want a real nice Tuscan meal, I will return. I want to try that rack of lamb!

I moved to Atlanta just a few months ago and am happy to have found a great little Italian restaurant. We loved the small bite offerings, really were enough when adding in a few appetizers. Will definitely return!

The meal: Antipasti: Prosciutto and buffalo milk mozzarella Spaghetti al pomodoro Main Course: Gnocchi del giorno Grilled rack of lamb with rosemary olive oil Dessert: Panna cotta Vino: 1 Brunello and 1 Barolo The pros: 1. Best Italian food I've had in Atlanta to date. 2. Prosciutto and buffalo milk mozzarella was just the best. The Prosciutto di Parma was TOP QUALITY, incredible flavor, just the right saltiness, and the mozzarella was the real deal. Just like in Italy. I wish I could eat this every day. Not enough mozzarella though. 3. Sauce was very good (but of course doesn't compare to Tuscany, what does?), stuck to the pasta like sauce should. Very basil forward. 4. Gnocchi tasted homemade. Perfect chew, nice and light - not too soft and heavy like in most restaurants. 5. Rack of Lamb was incredible, cooked perfectly, tender, and amazing flavor. 6. Brought out dessert for us since we were celebrating our 1 year anniversary (and our Tuscany honeymoon), so that was a nice touch. Cons: 1. The bill! Ouch. I'm not into spending that kinda cash on any meal except to splurge once in a blue moon. 2. Spaghetti al pomodoro - we would have never ordered this but we did because I was expecting fresh pasta. I was wrong, it was the dry stuff. That was a huge disappointment but the sauce made up for it. 3. The decor. The owners are from Tuscany, I'm sure they can recreate the experience, or at least try. 4. Service was good but slow. Maybe they were trying to recreate the Tuscan experience here? haha. I'm not into Italian wines at all, if I am going to pick one it is always: 1. Super Tuscan - only because it is really a Cab grape and not really 'Italian' at all. The best of the Italian wines by a wide margin. 2. Barolo - BIG. But not a good stand alone wine, much better with your meal. Compliments heavy sauce perfectly. 3. Brunello - I guess you could say the "class" of Italian wines, but I'm not a big fan. But I'd choose it over a Chianti any day of the week. Probably wouldn't go back but wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others. It was very good.

I truly wish I could post a picture so that everyone could have a true visual of the shenanigans. (Picture is now posted, I had to do so on my laptop) I am a fairly new vegetarian so I opted for the spinach ravioli meal. My friend and I were very hungry and it was our first time patronizing this establishment. We specifically asked the server about the portion sizes and he motioned his hands to give an idea of the portions and we were satisfied with that. For wine, I prefer sweet wines but my friend likes reds so she asked the server if they had any red wines that were sweet. He proceeded to say yes, but that type was unavailable for sampling and had to be purchased by the bottle. This should have been the first red flag, but my friend agreed to try it out. The wine was NOT sweet, not even to her so that was an epic fail. So we get a $10 bottle of wine for over $20 and it wasn't even good. I know restaurants mark up alcohol prices but good grief. (I googled the amount of the wine after we left and sure enough it was about $10) Now for the good part, I ordered an entree size of the spinach ravioli, why do I get a plate with 3 or 4 ravioli on it? To add insult to injury, the ravioli was extremely flat so it's not like they were large and heavily stuffed with spinach. I asked the server was that the entree size, he said yes. I asked how many come with the appetizer size, he said two. Are you kidding me? I am a petite woman and that wasn't enough for me, I could only imagine the look on the face of a grown man ordering that. It was really like a kiddie meal, no full sized adult would get anywhere near full off of that. For $20, I was very disappointed in that dish. We could have just saved the fluff and went to Magianno's where I would have paid about $12 for my meal and been able to bring leftovers home. So much for fine dining!

Second time tonight and it was stellar. We were starving leaving a business meeting in Alpharetta and decided to grab dinner in Buckhead. We had been to Antica Posta once before on a weekend night and liked the food but the atmosphere was crowded and loud. But we figured at 5pm, we would have the place to ourselves and we did. I had stewed artichokes for an appetizer; husband had the octopus salad, which was excellent. We loved our entrees -- veal picatta and rack of lamb. High quality meat and lovely vegetables as well. And the almond gelato was WONDERFUL. Seriously one of the best desserts I have ever eaten. We will be back but we will be strategic and go early.

I've only been here once and it was years ago but I remember it because it was the first place I ate at after coming back from a semester in Florence. Obviously, having just been in Tuscany for 4 months, this Tuscan restaurant had a difficult task in living up to my recent dining experiences. I definitely went in expecting to be disappointed, but I wasn't - it was pretty good. I remember having the osso bucco which was quite good. Can't remember too much else about the meal since it was so long ago, but I distinctly recall being impressed and interested in going back. For whatever reason that has not happened since, but hopefully I'll make it back soon as this place was definitely a winner. 4

This is a unique restaurant, with a bar-social area on the first floor, but several intimate dining areas on the second floor like you are a guest at someone's house. The place might not exactly have the prettiest of decorations, but it sure is different. Tuscan menu. Rustic food. The presentation is in line with the atmosphere--simple, but not in the pretty minimalist bistro manner, more like a home or osteria made meal. Fantastic and personal food (many are supposedly chef's own favorite dishes growing up). I was surprised by how good the signature appetizer tasted partly because it seemed amusingly unspectacular, just piece of scallop on some garbanzo puree. It's easy to mess up scallops; a lot of great places do it. But it was knock-your-socks-off good. I wanted to lick the plate clean when nobody was looking. Delicious home made veal sausage. Tuscan pasta here is superb. Did I say rustic yet? It's extremely substantial to bite into most of the pasta/risotto dishes here. Try the crab farfalle and prosciutto gemelli. Try the risotto, but be mindful that it's very filling. The truffled rendition is earthy and too much without something lighter to go along with it. Osso bucco charms, but I wasn't too interested in other entrees. Delicious chocolate mousse and a good wine menu. If I come here with a group I would get everyone to order appetizer portion of pasta/risotto and get several appetizers on top of that, so everyone gets to eat about 8 different things. Service is good, friendly and accommodating. You may be greeted by the owner himself, a very memorable person. Ask him about his shoes.

Had a great lunch at Antica Posta recently. It was a special event wine tasting with Alessia Antinori featuring wines from her family's estates. It was such a fun event and a great way to have a lunch date with my wife! The menu was prix fix paired with with Antinori wines. Appetizers served during the reception included little puff pastries stuffed with spinach and cheese and selections of salumi - both were tasty. Choice of Montenisa Brut or a chardonnay. I chose seared scallops over a chickpea puree for the starter (served with Chardonnay Bramito 2008) and roasted chicken - Tuscan style for the main (served with Il Bruciato - Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah 2007 Bolgheri). Both were outstanding.

Pretty good place. Will go back next year to try the pasta dishes and post another review. Very tasty panna cotta. $150 (with tip) got us: Cappesante con passata di ceci (sea scallops over chickpea puree, very nice, would order again) Crostini with chicken liver sauce (good, but won't try it again) 2 glasses of wine (very good selection!) osso buco (tasty, a bit salty, nice to try but won't try it again here) Farfalle all'aragosta [lobster] panna cotta (excellent, will order again)

Antica Posta is a fabulous experience--great food, friendly service. Chef Sandro's Osso Bucco is the best in Atlanta--and maybe in the southeast. Their pastas are always cooked to perfection and the salads are plentiful and farm-fresh. We've never had a bad experience and never will. Their private rooms downstairs are great for groups of any size. I love the back room--like eating in your grandmother's kitchen (if your grandmother was Italian). We love the place and we'll be back often.

The ahi tuna with truffle oil is excellent. My wife loves their thin cut swordfish grilled all the way thru. One of the better selections of wine among Buckhead restaurants. The service at times can be slow, but they're always friendly. If you love Italian you will be a regular here.

Went for a business dinner. House made veal sausage and little puffs with ricotta and spinach were great, but everything went down hill from there. Arugula salad had way too much dressing. Lobster with farfalle was way too oily. Chocolate torta tasted like it came out of a a box with Byers ice cream. I would not go back

Great restaurant. Family feel. Upscale service. Food was great all around. Lasagne app was excellent. Osso Bucco, Filet, and Chicken mains were all well reviewed by table. Wine list was big and good. Decanted without having to request. Solid experience.

This place is groovalicious. A house converted into a restaurant near the Land Rover dealership at Piedmont and (one of the) Paces, Antica Posta offers a charming, intimate atmosphere that won't offend. With the recent addition of the full bar in the front of the house, there's ample space for mingling while waiting for your party to arrive. Private rooms both upstairs and down are perfect for holiday parties (especially if your office is footing the bill!) If you want to spoil yourself a smidge or take your partner somewhere special, this is it. An authentic Tuscan style restaurant with owners Marco and Alessandro Betti (believe me, you'll see Marco) from San Casciano, Italy...did I mention authentic? The menu fluctuates since it's based on fresh ingredients, seasonal goods, etc. - but if they have it - there's this steak with a balsamic something or another that I have every winter. It's that corn fed free range meat deal - another thing there you'll know if you see. Order it and you'll cry with pleasure. That is, unless you're vegan.

Went last night with my dinner club. What can't I say? Everything from the ambiance to the food was enjoyable. For an appetizer, I had the seared scallops over chickpea puree which was perfectly seasoned. They have an appetizer special made of grilled octopus which is out of this world. It is seasoned and grilled then sliced thin. From the first bite, it is divine and if it was a blind taste test, octopus's would not come to your mind. I would say pork loin or yes, even chicken. It has just enough bite (texture) to excite your taste buds. It is a "must try" and apparently, a very popular signature dish. I had the "small bite" rack of lamb which was just the right portion. Great small portions if you are watching your weight and/or trying/sharing different dishes. The seafood and bowtie dishes ordered by the other guests were in their words, "just alright". The desserts were all delicious and beautifully presented. Service was friendly and attentive, yet surprisingly lacking at times. We had two servers, one forgot the wine I ordered, the other one offered more bread but didn't bring it. Overall, I will be back with friends and when we entertain out of town guests. Great spot for romantic dinner, as well.

Stopped in for a quick bite at the bar early Saturday night (they actually open at 4pm!) and could not have had a better experience. Found white bean appetizer OK (don't need to order again) yet loved the two pasta dishes: one the gnocchi with tomato sauce and the other a spinach ravioli in light sage cream sauce. Both were delicious. The olive oil served with the bread might be the best I have had outside of Italy and you can buy it there. Wine list was solid and enjoyed a complimentary port afterwards that was really nice. Bar staff was very welcoming and added to our positive experience. Would come again for sure.

I took my fiance here for his birthday in may and we were very pleased! The atmosphere is what makes the restaurant...it's very rustic and welcoming..you feel like you are walking in grandma Sofia's house;-) We ordered the insalata caprese and the appetizer size of totelli al ragu d'anatra. It was so good...I could have licked the plate. I ordered the veal piccatta and my fiance had veal scallappine. I have to say, I still like my fiance's veal piccatta the best. If you like your piccata very buttery, you will love this dish. I like mine a little more citrusy. I made reservations for this place online at open table and had put on there that it's my fiance's birthday so at the end of dinner, we had a nice desert brought out to us. Overall, this was a great experience! The staff were friendly and food was great. We would go back there again for sure!

I'm not sure what to think of this restaurant. Our meal was good, but definitely not great and the service was just strange. I had a cocktail before dinner and was asked 3 times by two different servers if I wanted another drink. I appreciate that they wanted to serve me, but it was just overbearing. We ordered the meatballs and they were tiny - smaller than golf balls, which would have been fine had the serving not consisted of three of them. They were very good though! The bruschetta was very bland and the tomatoes used were under-ripe, so I was a bit disappointed there. Brian's veal entree was very good. My entree, the farfalle with lobster, was very so-so. There was a great deal of lobster in the dish and it was very good lobster, but the sauce used was overpowering and it didn't complement the dish well at all. I felt like a light lemon sauce would have been much better suited to this dish. All during dinner, the odd service continued - we got to the point of feeling slightly harassed! One time, one of our three (or four?) servers stopped to check in and we were in the middle of a conversation, so she bent over the table so that her face was in between us and asked us how everything was. I was a bit taken aback because I've never had that happen to me before.

I'm perplexed by all the good ratings because our recent dinner there was very disappointing. The four of us spent more than $400 and would rather have gone out for pizza. Two appetizers and two meals were cold. Steak ordered medium-well was rare, but it took so long to get the meal we didn't send it back. Ravioli was just plain boring. Our main waiter was friendly but inattentive. What really made us annoyed was being charged $36 for one appetizer. My friend asked if she could get a smaller portion of risotto (listed as a main course) for her appetizer -- which they said yes. (It IS nice that you can switch appetizers for main courses.) What they failed to tell her? She would pay the same dinner price for her appetizer. Kinda sleezy.

Most of my friends find me VERY critical of restaurants, however, we went for dinner on Saturday and I LOVE this restaurant. We had the bruschetta, beef carpaccio, prosciutto, mozzerella de bufalo, and whole wheat penne pasta with fresh tomato sauce for appetizers. ALL of the appetizers were AMAZING. We were all surprised that ALL the entrees were excellent as well! Typically, we find restaurants with one or the other. We had the Chicken off of the specials, rack of lamb, lamb chops, chilean sea bass, bowtie pasta, and risotto. My favorites were the rack of lamb, lamb chop, and chilean sea bass, however, all the entress were excellent. For dessert, we ordered the Panna Cotta, Tiramisu, and Apple Pocket. The Panna cotta was AMAZING, one of the best I've had. The Tiramisu wasn't that great. The Apple Pocket was SO good. The pastry on the outside was crisp, the apples inside were good, and the ice cream that came with it really complimented the dish.

After hearing Henry Winkler go on and on on DaveFM recently about how fabulous Antica Posta is, two friends (that had been there before) and I decided to go on a Wednesday night. First of all, I couldn't make reservations on opentable; when I called, they indicated that they had very few tables left, which is why opentable was blocked. So not true; the restaurant was wide open for 2 hours after we arrived. While trying to pick a wine, I asked for a taste, and I was told they could sell me a half glass, but the waiter would "lose his arm" if he allowed me a taste. What a pretentious place. The service was just okay; the waiter acted like we were putting him out, and at the end of our meal turned us over to someone else without ever thanking us for coming or telling us he was handing us off. The food was just okay. Everything was overpriced. Nothing was outstanding. Been there; done that; I will not go back. There are much better places in Atlanta without the attitude and the high prices (and trust me, I am not opposed to high prices in return for awesome food).

I had such high expectations of this place after reading several positive reviews and accolades from co workers and friends. I went with a group of six people. The service was terrible, which I had heard that the service was slightly "quirky," but I kind of expect excellent service at a restaurant that is as expensive as Antica Posta. It's not Bacchanalia-level expensive, but it is pricey for what you get. Some of us ordered the arugula salad which looked like a pathetic piece of old arugula lettuce squished on a plate and doused in olive oil and (too much) lemon juice. I ordered a pasta dish, the lobster special with pappardelle, and it was so-so. The lobster meat was so not succulent - it was pretty weak. The sauce tasted liek it had been sitting in a pot for a few hours. The pasta was overcooked. None of my other dinner companions were happy with their dishes, either. The presentation of every plate we ordered was horrendous as well. For what you pay at this place, the food should be presented nicely (not just thrown onto the plate haphazardly - my friend's veal scaloppine looked like mystery meat, seriously), should taste better than mediocre, and the service should be at least decent. I don't really know why this place has gotten such positive reviews.
