I heard a lot of good things about this place (from vegetarians). I'm not vegetarian, so I got a beef wrap combo. Portions are very small. Prices are not great. The fries are overrated. Taste is okay. Even if I were vegetarian, I'd much prefer getting the sofritas burrito from Chipotle or the veggie burrito just across the shopping center at Barberitos.

OK so I'm giving this place a second chance because everyone keeps telling me how amazing the did is... My last visit was a terrible disappoint. The chicken and beef were so dry I thought it was suppose to be jerky because every price was the same dry stuff on top of at least two servings of iceberg lettuce. I'll let you know how this visit goes...

I used to eat here when it was called Achim's K-bob and Uncle Otto's European Eatery. Whenever I think of food in Athens, I think of this place. I always make it a point to visit here whenever I'm in town. I wish Achim was still attached to the restaurant, though. During my recent visit, although the sandwiches, fries, and dipping sauces were good, they weren't the same as I remember. Achim's recipes for the dipping sauces seem to have remained consistent, but maybe restaurant has a different feel to it now. It's more of a franchise rather than a "mom and pop" restaurant. 'll still go back every time I'm in town, but it certainly has changes since I left Athens more than 10 years ago.

This place is good and it takes you away from any "normal" good you may be used to. 4 stars - food quality 4 stars - atmosphere 4 stars - customer service The place is clean and comfortable. The good was good but a little on the "expected" side. I like the variety of sauce available. But to me that tells me the food lacks flavor by itself. HEADS UP - Have lots of napkins available. I had one and, try as I may, it was just not enough. Ha ha.

The BEST sandwich I have ever had! It is in its own league!! I ordered the chicken keba sandwich with extra keba sauce and zesty BBQ sauce.. Everyone should try this indescribably delicious sandwich that you can customize yourself! It is AMAZING!!!

It's no wonder why the kepab is Germany's favorite sandwich. What a breath of fresh air in the land of burgers and biscuits! Ever since founder Achim opened his first shop in what could be called a shanty on Lumpkin St, he's been quickly winning the hearts of Athens folks and beyond. While the beef, chicken, and pork are all grilled on spits, the beef has the most flavor. Go with the Keba sauce (similar to tzatziki) and all the veggies. Try each of the custom made sauces on the totally unique Belgian fries. This kind of meal will sit with you like a burger and fries, some come hungry. If you want to cut the cals, go with the chicken Keba only. It's packed with all the right stuff and little of the wrong (the unique European bread has less calories than the flour tortilla, so don't be fooled). The concept has really come together in franchising. The only disappointing side effect has been a price increase of almost $3 since I first tasted a K-Bob in college. Seriously... $10, while comparable to Five Guys, is too high for this segment. Alas, it's totally worth it, though. Warning: not for cheese pizza eating adults who consider their pickiness charming rather than deeply disturbing. If you're boring, stick to a steam tray burger with a Kraft single.

Really good. I think it's a bit more pricy then it should probably be, but they always have 1 dollar off coupons you can get.

How can you not like Keba? Awesome food, awesome service, and awesome establishment. Always drop by Keba when we're in Athens.

I've been a "Keba" customer since it was Achim's on Broad not too long after it moved from Lumpkin. I really, really enjoyed the Broad st location and I wish it was still there. I can remember going to Stammtisch there with my German professor and having a beer or two with a great sandwich. They honestly have the best tasting reuben I have had in my entire life. Now every reuben I've had since is mediocre in comparison. That alone makes it worthwhile for me to stop in to their location every time I am in Athens. The doener sandwich is an import from Germany in this case which was a result of Turkish immigration to Germany several decades ago. Achim modified his sandwiches a bit and they have unfortunately gotten smaller and smaller and more and more expensive over the years. His Belgian fries are nice, but not indicative of German style in this case. Either way it is a nice touch. I like to eat them with the feta dip and I also douse them in green Tabasco sauce. It's an amazing combination. Either way this is one restaurant you don't want to miss! The location on Barnett Shoals is nice enough. It is located next to a Publix in a shopping center with a fairly accessible parking lot. It isn't too far from campus, but, unfortunately, it is no longer within walking distance and I love to visit the campus and go downtown. The restaurant layout here is about equal to the one on the West side of Athens just inside Oconee county near the Trader Joe's. I like both of them. There is pretty decent seating and a view outside (although there really isn't much to look at).

I really love Keba. I usually get the small beef sandwich with feta sauce and feta with my fries. The curry sauce and keba sauce are also really good. It's one of my favorite fast food (I guess it can be considered fast food?) restaurants in town. Pricing is reasonable and the service is good. My only complaint is that the one time I tried the gelato, it wasn't very good and was kinda expensive. Other than that, I highly recommend!
(4)Monica C.
sandwiches are ok. kind of small. They had good dipping sauces though.

"You had me at 'meat tornado.' " I've been dining on these delicious pockets of heavenly goodness for as long as I've lived in Athens. Starting as Achim's K-Bobs, then changing the name to Uncle Otto's, and finally sticking with the perfect KEBA Spitfire Grill, I can assure you that the name is the only thing that has changed over the past 10 years. I've never had a bad experience at a KEBA shop. I've tried every combination of every size of everything they have to offer, and it has all been delicious. But nowadays, I always go with my old favorite, the Large Beef Combo, all the veggies, with Creamy Feta on the sandwich and Zesty BBQ for my fries. It's just too perfect. They are a little pricey, but as someone else noted, you can always find a $1-$2 off coupon in any number of booklets you find around town. With 5 proteins and almost a dozen sauces to choose from, the variety will keep you coming back for a very long time. And once you find that magical favorite combination, you may just never want to eat anywhere else ever again.
(5)Rodger B.
Ten times better than Chipotle. Went with the bowl and was blown out of my mind! The uber was amazing after a workout! Light, but still packed with flavorful protein. Asked for the hottest sauce and opted for the spicy chipotle, and would truly eat this a few times a week if they had it anywhere near North Carolina!
(5)Don T.
Wow. Loved the original K-bobs. Loved when they moved downtown. But on the East-side, they are even better. Still the yummy french fries and dipping sauces, but the bread is much better.
(5)Lara A.
The fries are tasty, but the tuna is absolutely flavorless. They do have a bunch of sauces, but they all seem to be mayo-based. I think it's overpriced, too.

AVOID THIS PLACE. I have been eating here for a long time and I loved it so much I was eating there almost once a week and so was my boyfriend. Then the locos franchise bought out keba. Ever since it has rapidly been going downhill. My bread for my sandwich has been burnt to a crisp a few times and I usually get home before I realize it. I stopped eating here for approx 2 months because the quality had dropped so much. I gave in one day and got a good meal and decided to go back. This time I got mostly cold fries, chicken that was a mix of cold and warm and finally to top it all off my feta sauce had soured and gone bad. This time I will never go back especially after I checked their food scores and realized that back in July they had a score of 76 and had to have a follow up. However, if you have poor management and staff that can keep cleanliness and proper food handling so bad to earn that score chances are it will go back and by my cold and soured food served to me today I think they deserve the lower score again.

Great local restaurant with really fantastic fries and yummy wraps! The style is much like chipotle or moes, with limited options, but that works well as the only choices you need to make here are the sauce, the meat, and the style. GREAT meal for under $10.
(4)Annie L.
This place is good, but they really need to chill on the sauce. My sandwich was dripping with it. Flavoring was alright---I got the "curry up" which had a hint of curry to it. Maybe I need to try something else, because my sandwich creation just wasn't hitting the spot for me (I got the mixed meat, curry up sauce, with all veggies). They said they put all veggies in it but I didn't even see any tomatoes or cucumbers. Sad. Maybe I'll give it another try, but it's not likely.
(3)P S.
The salads are great and come with a slice of feta.
(4)Kay F.
I wanted to have a Turkish donner kebab and I ordered a chicken bowl. The meat was burnt and the the sauce which was supposed to be hot and garlicky had neither tastes. So disappointed, wouldn't recommend it.
(3)M B.
The food is good, expensive for what is though and packed with calories.
(3)Amanda D.
Sandwiches are not bad, not amazing. The best thing are, yes, their fries with a plethora of dipping sauce which they let you sample if there's not a huge line behind you. (hint: don't ask them to charge you for an extra upfront, ask the person making your meal at the end later, they'll usually just give you one if you're nice) They are NOT gluten-free friendly--if you are celiac don't eat their fries, they're fried in the same vat as the felafel which contains wheat, as do the pork and beef. Chicken is ok and you can get it in a bowl as opposed to a sandwich or wrap. Service is spotty, but then again, have you ever worked in the food service industry?
(3)Dani P.
Food tends to rely entirely on the sauce you put on it for flavor and is usually luke warm when they give it to you. If you get a meat, it tends to be cheap cuts, but the feta or falafel are pretty good. Expensive for what you get.
(2)Kevin C.
The sandwich I got (combo meat) was good for Athens restaurants. The keba sauce is similar to tzatziki, and was very good. No complaints.
(4)Scott W.
This was my first visit to Keba. The food was great but it is heavy. Only go with a big apatite.
(4)Patrick H.
Keba does a lot right, but its not perfect. There is a sauce for nearly everyone (I wish they had something significantly spicy). The sandwich and wraps are good and the fries are excellent. Price wise it is similar to Zaxbys, Canes, and other kinds of restaurants.

We've been to Keba twice. Frankly, I can't tell what all the fuss is about. The best sandwich I've tried is the beef with the Keba sauce which is a fair faux-gyro with tzatziki. The fries are OK, if a little tough. We most recently went on January 1, 2013. Smallish crowd, not terribly busy, so there's no excuse for the service we received. The girl taking the order keyed the order in wrong. Problem 1. We ordered 2 large combos, a salad and a sandwich and only 3 meals were delivered to our table. We asked about the missing meal, and were told it would be right out. Five minutes later, we asked again. (Take-out customers were continuing to receive their orders and leaving the store during this time.) Then a person came to our table asking to see our receipt so "I know what to make you." Her attitude and further comments implied that we were asking for something we hadn't paid for. Problem 2. Eventually the remaining sandwich was delivered, and we asked where the fries and feta sauce were. "I'll bring them right out," we were told. Five minutes later, we went to the counter to get the fries. We never got our feta. Problem 3. Problem 4 was that the chicken was dry. At home, when the chicken reaches that point, we feed it to the cats, not the humans. We never received any apologies, only the lame excuse that the person delivering the food was in training. As far as I could tell, that's the only person who didn't screw up our meal. Problem 5 was the explosive diarrhea that both my daughter and I had before we could even get home. We'll never be eating here again. There are places to eat in town that (a) make better food, (b) give better customer service, and (c) probably won't leave you making a made dash for the loo just after.

KEBA is a favorite of mine and I ate here countless times during my 4 years at UGA. The roll the sandwiches are serrved on are absolutely delicious and always toasted to perfection. I always go with the Chicken KEBA Sandwich. I have tried almost all the sauces they offer, but my favorite is the Curry Up Sauce. KEBA is a little pricier than what the average college kid wants to pay for a sandwich and fries, but I think it's worth it. You have to at least give it a try.
(5)Jared S.
Been going to this place for nearly a decade since it was Achim's K-bob and it's only gotten better. Don't know why people think it's bland, never had that problem. I've always gotten the mixed keba, with feta on it instead of the original sauce. New pork keba is pretty good which makes the uber-keba (all 3 meats) amazing. Gelato is a great addition for a dessert, but so is a Nutella keba, though I wish they'd sell that a la carte. Top 5 favorite restaurants in Athens and I love the atmosphere of the new location. Don't go anywhere, Keba!
(5)Jon M.
Sandwiches better than most burgers, fries better than just about anywhere. Always satisfying.
(4)Caroline M.
I like the concept of this place but it is not very vegetarian friendly. the vast majority of the sauces are mayonnaise-based and their meat-free options are very slim. It's too bad because they are so close to me.

I was very excited about eating here at first because I liked the idea and the atmosphere, but I have been very disappointed on both of two visits - I was hoping the first was a fluke. The "spitfire grilled" meat is actually the worst part of the meal here. As other yelpers have pointed out, it is bland and dry. It really ruins the sandwich when it should be the highlight. The sauces are pretty good - and they have a nice selection - but they in no way cover up the inadequacies of the meat. The prices would be reasonable ($7-10 per person with sandwich and fries) if the food were good, but I would prefer to spend my money elsewhere. The only real redeeming quality for me is the fries: homestyle with herb seasoning = very good. If you go here skip the lousy sandwich and go straight to the fries. I wish I could leave a better review because I really wanted to like this place, but have been let down twice now. I won't go back unless I'm just dying for some fries.

My favorite thing about Keba is the light fixtures dangling from the ceiling. The off-white shades are covered in music notes and have uneven edges that make them look like the top half of a cracked eggshell. The menu at Keba is pretty simple. If you want a sandwich, you can choose from beef, chicken, beef and chicken together, tuna, falafel, and a few other options I can't seem to recall. Unfortunately, lamb wasn't one of them. I ordered a combo meal: beef keba sandwich with fries and a drink. Your choice of dipping sauce also comes with the fries, which are freshly cut and made to order. I ordered the spicy chipotle sauce, but the tangy mayo also looked good. ...but as they say: looks can be deceiving. My sandwich, the fries, and even the sauce were bland. Honestly, how can you possibly make a bland SPICY chipotle sauce? Still, the service was very good, and the staff tolerated our sitting there for far too long, hence the three stars.
(3)Kelsey S.
Delicious food! Great and friendly staff! Honestly a wonderful experience.
(5)Teri F.
Fantastic food. I'd recommend going there for dinner rather than lunch because the shawarmas and wraps (even the vegetarian ones) really fill you up fast. I always order the falafel with those incredible fries and extra dressing. Definitely try the roasted red pepper and the pesto sauces. I love the fresh, crunchy veggies and the great bread. The falafel is really tasty and filling, too. It's a simple enough menu without a lot of fanfare, but for what it is, it is really good food. I'd rather eat there than a fast food joint any day. Very fresh and delicious.

The doner was somewhat of a letdown as the meat was tough and dry but the real winner at Keba are their delicious fries. Thick, crispy and seasoned just right with a touch of salt. It can get pretty busy around lunch time so pray that you have decisive people ahead of you or you might be waiting in line for awhile.
(3)Mike D.
I eat here at least once a week. Beef sandwich with creamy feta and roasted red pepper for the fries....oh the fries! I could drink the sauces with a straw. If you are in the area do yourself a favor and try it.
(5)Matthew L.
I've been a fan of Keba and a friend of Achim (the owner) since the original "K-Bob" opened on S. Lumpkin St. my freshman year in college. I had never heard of a doner kebap and was soon sad that I had already been deprived of its glory for the first 18 years of my life. The newest Keba franchise is an example of what everyone who joins the restaurant business dreams of. The doner kebap is now ready for the national stage! Come experience what is to Europeans what the hamburger is to Americans. The kebap is the Turkish cousin of the Greek gyro. The bread, however, is uniquely Turkish and the meat has its own spicy and less Mediterranean flavor to it. Achim designed this one from the ground up and has got a winner. Since college, I've been fortunate enough to enjoy kebaps all over Europe and I always tell Achim he's got the best! The Belgian fries are the icing on the cake. All the dipping sauces are homemade. Truly a unique and delicious experience. Can't wait til one shows up in Atlanta!
(5)Baha N.
Awesome Turkish food with awesome sauces. Feta sauce is my favorite. Four stars only because they do not serve doner with French bread like they originally do in Turkey.
(4)Hank L.
Several visits later, Keba still impresses. I've got an addiction to the curry dipping sauce; it's excellent. I'm glad to see they're getting some good press and business.
